More Wilbur. I usually draw him with furrowed eyebrows for some reason, he always looks sad. I also tried drawing him as a little bird which didn’t work out. It’s funny because I’m originally a furry artist, just can’t draw birds.

I do not know much about Wilbur. Interesting for having basically about the same premises, the Wilbur feature predates Archie. Yet we are not talking about Wilbur Comics, but Archie Comics. Go figure. The power of Bob Montana in shaping the thing, I guess. Fact number one about the Wilbur stories: this girl had prematurely white hair. But she had bought some hair dye or colour rejuvenation shampoo by the time of this reprinting.

Masthead hair styles evolve.

It is easy, when they drop in a side character likeness like Pop Tate, to mentally reset the story in as a just a different set of characters in the same universe as Archie -- same town, same high school, different set of kids, a different crowd to run with -- occupying a different booth. Another question (posed on the "Story Song Podcast") : what do the other students at Rydell High School (Grease) think of the Pink Ladies and T-Birds? Do they roll their eyes at them, fear them somewhat, keep their distance, pay them no mind as they go about their day?

Clearly Pop Tate favors the other group of customers over this set of characters. His expression here gives him away as not really liking them, and there is no interaction here. I guess he is murmuring to himself as he looks over at these two "Where's Jughead, and Betty, and Archie? Heck -- I'd even settle for Reggie right now!"
