realizing now i like video games that are rote and boring for most. too bad my life and experiences are one fantastical whirlwind adventure that i don't need animation to convey. because of my beautiful mind :)

GENUINELY trying my hardest to think of a single popular story game that i like and i can only think of ONE and it's an obscure quest based mobile app game from like 2020 i played to completion while holed up in my house manic af about a monk?? journeying around this religious compound and surrounding areas - i CANNOT remember where it was supposed to be i DO remember vaguely that it was in mandarin and i played it with english subtitles - looking for these pieces of a scroll?? that had some important message i don't remember what but it was SO FUN. just after i finished it i was kinda dead inside and well things became dark and shameful REALLY quickly but i DID end up playing a lot of animal crossing pocket camp to stay sane. yeah.

TLDR if anyone knows about this monk scroll puzzle story game PLEASE let me know what it was called!!!! i swear i did NOT make this up it was REAL. at least to me. too many sensations were happening in it for it to actually be a hallucination and it had a lot of reading - hallmarking it as actual.

asking the public: do any of you guys who play/played wii or gamecube know of any games with particularly good disability accommodation settings? someone i know is recovering from a paralytic situation and the movement in his hands is good but one of his shoulders can act up and cause issues in his hand. ive been looking to expand my retro library anyway and wanted opinions so the next time i visit him i can bring some good titles that we can play while we hang out.

Kayn 💜

•When it comes to games, you know this man is ready to 1v1. He lives for competition and outright shenanigans.

•His favorite games are fighting games where he can just beat the crap out of his opponent. (Tekken, Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat, etc…)

•Other competitive games he plays are Mario Party, Mario Kart, Just Dance and even Wii Sports. (mostly when he’s with other people) Even though the last one is banned from the Heartsteel house after Kayn outright swung the Wii-mote at the TV and broke it.

Ezreal 💚

•When it comes to games, Ez likes to have a relaxing time. Be that by himself when he has the chance or with company.

•His favorite games are usually phone games he can easily access when he’s between photoshoots and rehearsals. (Animal Crossing Pocket Camp, The Sims, Mystic Messenger, Episode, etc…)

•When he’s able to sit down and play on either a console or PC, he’s entertained by spending hours torturing Sims. Or playing dress up games where he can judge other players outfits. (He’s definitely on Roblox playing Dress to Impress)

Sett 🧡

• When it comes to games, Sett is not a fan of highly attentive gameplay. Instead, he enjoys simple games with simple puzzles to solve.

•He’s a fan of visuals and just having fun along with the game. Something to wind down if he really wants to. Although sometimes throwing work out games in the mix for a change. (Kirby games, Mario games, Nintendo Switch Sports, etc…)

•He tries to game only certain days and have limits on his game time. Since he does have the tendency of playing for hours on end without even realizing it. Can’t have that happen when you have a workout schedule to maintain.

K’sante 💛

•When it comes to games, K’sante likes the story aspect of them. Getting to know the characters and find out what happens in the game is important to him.

•Along the same line as Sett, he has a set schedule for his gaming. Often enjoying cozy farming games and even sometimes indulging in role playing games (Stardew Valley, Harvest Moon, etc…)

•He’d sometimes even indulge in games along with Sett like Nintendo Switch Sports and Wii Sports with Kayn. Before it was banned after Kayn broke the TV. But it’s fine, they can just play when Yone is not home to complain.

Yone ❤️

• Who let grandpa play? When it comes to games, Yone is not really good. Taking his time to learn at a pace and properly play.

•He likes turn base and strategy style games. Being able to figure out the best path for the characters and unlock the next level of any story. But he’d also enjoy little games he’s able to play on his phone. (Candy Crush, 8 ball, Solitaire)

ft. games Aphelios would hook up Yone with: Fire Emblem, Old Final Fantasy games, Octopath Traveler, Etc..

•He’d only play games once in a blue moon. And when he does, everyone in the band tries to witness like they’ve just discovered mothman. Except mothman is playing candy crush and is on level 690.

• All is fair in love and -no, not here when it comes to games. Aphelios is very dedicated to either speedrun games or to complete it 100%

•When he’s not working on songs or sleeping, he’s playing adventure games or role play centered games with a fighting system. (Legend of Zelda, Baldurs Gate 3, Devil May Cry, etc…)

•He’s as highly competitive as Kayn is when he does dabble in fighting games every now and then. But to Kayn’s demise, Aphelios knows cheat codes and techniques from hours of playing in practice rooms.

Rusty has the Trainyard Wii. For the first few years he had it, it was in his shed which led to many a train coming to his room to play. There's been many a time where Rusty would get back from a long day of work and just see the Nationals or literally any other group. in his shed. playing his Wii.

After a bit of time passed, he was like "fuck it" so he moved it to the whatever the equivalent of a living room/common area is in the yard

Rusty loves Pokemon. Control's dad got him into the first generation and has been hooked ever since. Pearl likes it too but mainly likes it since she likes the designs of the pokemon. Her favorite pokemon is Eevee.

Him and pearl go on pokemon dates together where they go out on the rails, find different spots on the railroad line, and try and find all the pokemon they can on pokemon go. It's precious

Besides pokemon for the cute desgins, she's a Mario Kart/Wii Sports F I E N D. She either mains Luigi or Bowser so she can be tall and scary. If you go against her, be prepared. She's oddly competitive

99.9% of the time, Dinah likes games such as cooking mama, sims, and disney dreamlight valley but when she's pissed, she mainly plays Mortal Kombat and pictures the opponents as whoever she's mad at

Dustin likes FNAF and knows a little too much about the lore. He watches Game Theory religiously

Flat Top, being the living shitpost that he is, likes shitposty games like Zelda Cdi. He mainly plays Call of Duty to laugh at the name and to roast whoever's in the lobby with him. He likes making incels and children cry.

Joule loved Minecraft. Full Stop. She's really the only Gamer within the components

To calm down after a long day of being The Sane One in the Yard, Wrench likes to play Animal Crossing

Buffy likes Sonic underground only because the theme song slap

ashley likes the Oregon trail just to give her pc families shitty names and to give them dysentary

gb and the nationals love just dance and the sims but they say they like gta, madden, and COD to keep up with the reputation. They know all the kpop and Rasputin choreos by heart

The coaches each have their own Animal Crossing Islands and they go to each other's islands all the time

Dinah likes to listen to Video game soundtracks as she's cooking. The Wii Sports, Wii Sports Resort, and Animal Crossing soundtracks have a special place in her heart

You would think Papa/Mama likes chill games like Pong and Tetris, but when they're alone, they yippy those kayees in Red Dead Redemption

every so often, like once a month or so, the entire yard gets together to have a Mario Kart and Smash tournament. they call it "Race Night but No One Gets Hurt". The hosts are Wrench and Dustin since s o m e o n e has to host this chaos thats s a n e

one of the rules is that Caboose has lost controller privileges. for obvious reasons

"Do you have a job?" Tracy asks as she helps Molly put away groceries. It's starting to strike Tracy as odd that Molly can afford all this and also spend the majority of her time with Tracy. Molly’s talked about past jobs, but never anything current.

“Not right now. Don’t worry, you’re not keeping me away from work or anything. This is where I want to be.”

“So how do you… afford all this?” 

“My parents were very wealthy, and I got all of it when they died.”

“Ah. That explains a lot.”

Molly laughs. “I’m not sure how to take that.” 

Hmm… Tracy tries to think of a way to direct the conversation that might give her helpful information. “Are you planning on getting another job any time soon?”

“Probably not. I don’t want to leave you alone all day.”

“I wouldn’t mind.”

“Still, if you got hurt, or needed me for something else, you’d have no way to get help. And I like spending time with you. I would miss you the whole time I was gone.”

That makes sense, logically. No one is forcing Molly to be here, she must be spending time with Tracy because she wants to. Tracy wants to ask what makes her so special, but she chickens out. She gets the feeling that whatever the answer to that question is, she really won’t like it. “Do you… have any friends? At all?”

“Mm… I hope someday you’ll consider me a friend.” She puts the last of the groceries in the pantry. "Do you wanna play Wii Sports Resort? I bet you can get a new high score at wakeboarding."

"Sure." She's really good at the wakeboarding game.

Molly grins and sets up the game. It makes sense that she has no friends, but it’s disappointing all the same. No one is going to come visit her and ask about the heavily locked basement. Tracy isn’t getting outside help.

A thought hits Tracy like a bus. "Am– am I the first person you've kidnapped?"

"Of course!" Molly hands Tracy a Wii remote. "First and last."

A chill runs down Tracy's spine. It's okay, it's fine. Just gathering information. It doesn’t matter why Molly decided to kidnap Tracy, that knowledge won’t help her escape. "Right. Um…”

Thinking of questions is hard. Maybe she should just try to make natural conversation, and see if anything important comes up?

“Do you have a favorite video game?” Tracy asks, partially focused on digital wakeboarding.

“I’m not sure. The only thing I ever play alone is The Sims, so I guess that would be my favorite?”

“That makes a lot of sense. You like taking care of the- hell yeah!” Tracy is momentarily distracted by getting a long string of 100-point tricks.

“Yeah.” Tracy can hear the smile in her voice. “I do really like games where I can take care of people. I’ve had to ban myself from getting any games like that on my phone, I always end up setting alarms in the middle of the night to check on them. Sims don’t have their needs drain when the game is closed the way so many mobile games do.”

Tracy’s turn ends. She didn’t get a new high score, but she got close. “You’d… set alarms in the middle of the night?” 

“They’d be so sad and hungry every morning if I didn’t!”

“They’re… not real.”

“That’s the thing— how do you know? I can’t bear the thought of telling someone that they’re not real if they actually are. Can you imagine, someone coming up to you and telling you you’re not real? That would be awful! I don’t want to risk it. What separates us from programs, really? People a lot smarter than me have theorized we’re all in a simulation. If that’s the case, would it be okay for someone to starve and hurt us because we’re not real? Even deleting those apps felt kind of like killing people. I couldn’t function for weeks afterward… But I’m okay now!” 

“You’re… actually crazy.” That shouldn’t be surprising for a kidnapper, but it somehow is.

“That’s not very nice.” Her tone is lightly scolding. Not angry at all, but definitely the harshest tone she’s used with Tracy so far. “You probably didn’t want to hear about my issues, though. What’s your favorite video game?” As she talks, Molly repeatedly does so badly at the game that it pauses to remind her she needs to land on the water with her board flat.

“I never really played video games before I came here— before you kidnapped me, I mean. I think I need to try a few more before I decide.”

The conversation continues like that until Tracy gets a new high score. Just… pleasant, even if the things Molly says are disturbing sometimes. Tracy’ll have to mentally go through the conversation a few times before bed to make sure she didn’t miss any valuable information. Even if she didn’t, though, building a rapport with Molly is good. That’ll… that’ll definitely benefit her somehow, even if she’s not sure how yet.

“You’re amazing.” Molly looks at Tracy like she’s… Tracy doesn’t even know. Definitely not something human. A beautiful painting, maybe? A sunset? A skyscraper?

“For… being good at Wii Sports Resort wakeboarding?”

“For everything. Everything about you is amazing.”

“…thanks?”

Molly stares at her for a moment longer, then breaks eye contact. “I don’t want to make you feel uncomfortable. You barely know me, that probably sounded more like a stalker complimenting you than a friend. I’ll do my best to dial it back.”

“…I appreciate that.”

Molly fidgets with the Wii remote. “I think… I need to spend some time cleaning today. You won’t be able to relax if your living space is filthy! I’ve been putting it off a bit.”

The basement seems plenty clean to Tracy. "Okay."

"I've been keeping the cleaning stuff upstairs, so I'll go grab some stuff and be right back. Is that okay?"

"Yep, go ahead." Tracy feels like she should offer to help, but… she doesn't want to. This isn't her house, she doesn't want to be here and would leave if she could, she has no obligation to do any cleaning.

For the next several hours, Molly takes various cleaning supplies up and down the stairs (always making sure the bag with restraints isn't downstairs while Molly is upstairs) and cleans more or less the entire basement. 

Tracy plays some Minecraft, then starts a book that looks interesting. She's… enjoying herself. Is this the best use of her time? She could talk to Molly more, but did she really learn anything last time? She runs through the conversation in her head repeatedly, but can't find anything useful.

She puts the book back. She needs to think of more questions to ask, more information that might help her, she needs to do something because if she has time to enjoy herself she definitely has time to get something done but there's nothing to get done, she can't do anything she's useless–

"Are you feeling okay, dear?"

"I'm fine. Do you… need help with anything?"

"You're here to rest! I'll handle everything, don't worry. I'm basically done, anyway, I've just got to take the mop back up the stairs."

She's not pathetic enough to beg to help her kidnapper with chores, so she nods and heads to the kitchen. She'll just make lunch for both of them, Molly's okay with her doing that. It's really hard to just wait for helpful information instead of actively working towards escape, but… she can do hard things. It's not Tracy's fault that she's useless right now, anyway, it's Molly's, so there's not much she can do but suck it up and enjoy herself until Molly lets something slip.

well some of them don't really play games, so it's hard to say. but i can try to perhaps say games i think they would like in that case

Iggy: Final Fantasy XII, RPGs in general, also farming and crafting games like Harvest Moon or MTaP

Genzou: Pokemon (favorite as a kid); nowadays he'd probably think stuff like GTA5 is hilarious and would just drive the car around crashing into everything and wreaking havoc; I also feel like he'd be the type to listen as Iggy plays his games and constantly be making silly comments about "gay things" Iggy should do to pick up guys and have Iggy describe what all the chars look like and tell Iggy who to go for but then act like he doesn't care at all

Orlam: I'll be honest...... he'd probably like........ some of the more suggestive dating sim type gacha games you can play on mobile... I can see him spending a lot of money on them...................

Gidget: I feel like they'd really love party games. They love board games and stuff you can play with a lot of people so it would translate well into games like Mario Party, Mario Kart, Wii Carnival, some of the various silly sports games, stuff like that

Bucks: She'd really love match-3 games on her phone, and on console she'd probably play sports games and monster truck games LOL

Hunar: Fantasy adventure games and RPGs; he's probably got 500 hours of BG3 racked up

Was looking through the miitopia tag (i love tagcrawling hi!) and saw your CPU mii child cast. Now I need to know why the horse is also a car

I assumed someone would ask lmao.

I'm also an avid Sims 4 enjoyer. I have a thing with my friends where I make CPU Miis as sims, put them in one household, and see who is the last remaining alive. I use several mods to aid in this endeavor, including Sacrificial's Life Tragedies. One of the deaths included in this mod is being run over by a car. The car in question happens to be a taxi. We call it Sentient Taxi.

So, when I started the run of these kiddos saving their parents, I decided that this bloodthirsty murder car be an ally. Thus why the horse is named Taxi.
