Chapter 60

Going to the Deep Levels 28-37

After everyone in my group, Kimmy, Cindy, Iris, Rosni, Wiene, Fia, Sky and Ryu had fought and killed Amphisbaena. We decided to head to floor 28 the next safe floor and work our way on down to the 37th floor.

My plans were for us to fight Udaeus in a few months to try to rank up to level seven. Since Ais had killed Udaeus not long ago, we would have to wait at least three months to try to fight him ourselves. Udaeus respawns after three months when it has been killed.

Since we were going to be in the lower Levels, I thought Wiene, Fia and Sky could go with us and they could stay in their natural forms down there. Most adventurers don't go beyond the 28th floor unless they are in a large battle party or on an expedition. Because of that I am sure Wiene, Sky and Fia won't have to worry about being discovered to be monsters once we are past the 28th floor if they are in their natural forms.

While we are that far down, I can keep an 'ear' out to know if anyone else in on the same floor as us. And right now, about the only other Familia strong enough to go that far down is the Loki Familia, and they already know about the Xenos or as they are now called the Igashu Familia.

I ported Wiene, Fia, Sky, Ryu, Rosni, Cindy, Iris and Kimmy down to the Water City.

We started on the 27th floor so we could get used to the Dungeon and get some magic stones and drop items, before we head on down to unknown territory. Or rather unknown to us, that is.

The 28th floor is like the 18th floor in that it is a safe area. No monsters spawn on the 18th floor, the 28th floor or the 50th floor. Although monsters can go to those floors from the floors above or below, so you can and will still find monsters on safe floors.

The 28th floor like the 18th floor is like being outside, there are crystals covering the ceiling that give off light so it looks like the sun is out and the crystals fade so it gets dark like at night. There are forests, plains, ponds and streams and even what is called Dungeon food. Dungeon food is food grows on trees, bushes and other plants that monsters eat and is safe for humans to eat as well.

"Okay, open your eyes, we're here." I told everyone.

"I still can't get over how that works." Fia said.

"It's a lot better than having to hike all the way down here, fight monsters for several hours, then hike all the way back up to the surface." Kimmy replied.

"So true." Sky admitted.

"I didn't say I didn't like it. I just said I can't get over how it works." Fia put in.

"Okay, everyone, get ready. We want to get us some magic stones and drop items before we reach the next save zone." I put in to get everyone moving.

"Magic stones, magic stones." Cindy started singing.

"Cindy is a dragon, isn't she." Ryu stated implying dragons like having a horde of gold to sleep on.

After joining the Hestia Familia, I told Ryu everything about the Xenos and about Kimmy, Iris and Cindy. So, Ryu knew Cindy was a blue dragon.

I chuckled. "Cindy, your reputation precedes you, yet again." I told Cindy.

"Just what I need from a hell hound." Cindy put in. Ryu was in her Chienthrope form.

Iris jumped on Ryu's back and put her arms around Ryu hugging her. "But Ryu's the cutest hell hound I've ever seen."

Ryu flinched as Iris grabbed her, but she is starting to get used to having the people of the Hestia Familia touching her or at least having members of my Team hugging her.

"Woof, woof." Ryu said in her usual stoic way, although the ends of her mouth were curled up a little bit.

Okay, you animals, we need to get going." I chided them.

"Yes, we want to get to the 28th floor before we have to go back home." Wiene stated.

Sky and Kimmy giggled as they started walking.

A minute or so of walking and we ran into four Lamia.

"Cindy, Wiene take the far left one. Fia, Ryu, that the next one. Kimmy, Sky take the far right one and Iris and I will take the last one. Rosni make sure nothing else gets close and help if you're needed." I gave battle orders.

"Dragons, go." Cindy said as she summoned her Gossip Yuanyang Tomahawks and headed to their Lamia.

Wiene giggled at what Cindy said and followed after her summoning her spear-mace.

"On it." Ryu replied and looked at Fia. "Let's go." She added.

"I'm right beside you Ryu." Fia replied and headed towards their Lamia as she summoned her Hestia spear.

"Birds of a feather, come on Sky." Sky called out to Kimmy.

"On a wing and a prayer." Kimmy replied.

Cindy threw one of her Gossip Yuanyang Tomahawk and used Doppelganger just as it left her hand creating ten copies. She summoned her Gossip Yuanyang Tomahawk back to herself a moment later.

Wiene created a sphere of electricity around herself as she ran towards her Lamia, drawing back her spear-mace over her shoulder.

Ryu drew her wooden sword, Dawn's Light and started running towards her Lamia.

Fia threw her spear and used Doppelganger just as it left her hand, creating five copies.

That was all I could see before I had to pay attention to Iris and our lamia.

Iris summoned her hook swords, Plandai and Jord. She used Extended Range as she brought both swords up crossing them in front of herself and did a double slash.

"AAAAAGGGGGHHHH!!" The lamia screamed as it stopped moving forward and reared up.

That gave me the chance to Summon Sasori, my naginata and using Extended Range as well. I brought Sasori down at an angle, catching the lamia at the base of its neck and cutting on through to the other side of its body.

A moment later our lamia went up in a cloud of smoke and ash.

"Good job Iris." I said as Looked around to make sure the others didn't need any help. Not that I thought they would.

All the lamias had been killed and Rosni was already picking up magic stones and any drop items she found.

"Lamia snakeskin." Rosni announced as she put it in her closet PD.

"That will make a good, armored coat." I offered.

"That's it." Rosni stated and turned to me.

"Let's go then." I said and started heading on down towards the 38th floor.

"I wonder if there is enough lamia snakeskin to make a duster out of it?" I asked as we walked.

"You want to use the lamina skin for a dust rag?" Sky asked.

I chuckled. "No dear. A duster is a style of long coat. A duster is a full-length, usually canvas or linen coat that people that ride horses a lot use. It helps keep the trail dust off of the rider. Hence the name duster." I explained.

"That could be useful." Sky replied.

I nodded my head in agreement. "Yes, it could. Especially when made from tough hide like this. It would make good armor." I told Sky as we walked down the tunnel.

It took another hour for us to get to the 28th floor. This floor looks like of like the 18th floor with some of the same plants but there are different plants as well.

Following the map I had memorized from the Guild, I led us to an area close to a creek that was on top of a small cliff. The cliff was only fifteen feet high, but it was still some protection and since it was close to the wall of safe zone in the Dungeon it was less likely we would be attacked by monsters from that side. Not that we really needed any protection, because all I had to do was open a portal to a PD and we would all be safe inside the PD.

Although today we were going to be scouting out the 28th floor for a couple hours to see what was here. Then we are going to head on down to the 29th floor to see what it is like on that floor.

Because of the size of the floors and that we have to wait over two months before Udaeus will respawn. So, we have plenty of time to explore the 29th through the 37th floors before we go after the floor boss on the 37th floor.

Wiene and Sky walked over to me. "Eilwyn, can we take our natural forms?" Sky asked me while Wiene was nodding her head in agreement to Sky.

I smiled at the two. I know they like being in their natural forms when they can. "Just a minute." I told them. I did a quick mental search for any humans on the 27th, 28th and 29th floors.

I turned to Sky and Wiene. "Go ahead and take your natural forms. We are the only ones down here right now." I gave them the go ahead.

"Thank you." They both said in unison. They looked at each other and giggled. The next moment Sky was in her siren form and Wiene was in her vouivre form.

"Thank you." Sky told me as she gave me a hug and a kiss. Of which I returned the hug and kiss.

When Sky stepped away from me, Wiene walked up to me and hugged me around the waist. I leaned down so I could kiss her on the cheek as I put my arms around her and returned the hug.

"What about us?" Cindy asked.

I rolled my eyes; the I nodded my head in agreement. "Why not. But you, Cindy, keep it half sized. Having a dragon around should keep the monsters at bay. And Kimmy, you can go full angel if you want to." I gave my consent for everyone there to shift to their natural forms.

Kimmy walked over to me and gave me a hug as well. While she was hugging me, she leaned up and kissed me on the lips, then she released me from her hug and stepped back. A moment later her wings sprouted from her back.

"Kiss an angel in the morning." I sang as Kimmy's wings appeared.

By that time, Cindy had moved a little way away from the group and had shifted to a half size of her natural dragon form. You could feel her dragon aura she put off. Anyone that didn't know the dragon was Cinnamon would be running for the hills already.

Rosni gave a shiver. "I still have some trouble when Cinnamon goes full dragon. I remeowmber the first time she did that. I ran out into the front yard before I could get control of meow legs and stop running, her aura scared me so much." Rosni reminded us with a blush on her cheeks from embarrassment for running from Cindy.

"Ga ga ga." Cindy chuckled. Even as a half-sized dragon Cindy has a deep voice, and her chuckle is almost like rumbling thunder. "Sorry, I didn't mean to scare you." Cindy told Rosni.

"You and Eilwyn warned me. Meow. It just takes a little time to get used to how strong your meowra is." Rosni replied.

"Okay, we need to start exploring this floor. Don't go off alone so no less than two people in a party. Three is better. If you want to fly around, go ahead and fly. That isn't really a bad thing to do. It will give you a bird's eye view of the floor before you do any walking around." I gave instructions.

Wiene and Sky wanted to go with me. Rosni and Fia joined up with Cindy, with Kimmy and Iris being the last group.

Each group chose a different direction to start with, although everyone would eventually check out the whole floor.

We took a couple hours exploring the 28th floor from the air and from the ground.

We had gotten a list and descriptions and drawings of edible plants that grow on the 28th through the 36th floor. I thought it would be nice to get some and take them back home so Hestia could try them out.

We might even harvest some of the edible plants and use them in the Winged Manticore restaurant. That way people that don't go into the Dungeon or can't go that far down in the Dungeon will have an opportunity to try Dungeon food.

After we had explored the floor, so we had a good feel of the floor. We headed on down to the 29th floor.

The 29th through the 36th floors are called Dense Forest Ravine. These floors are like a huge forest with large trees. Dinosaur like monsters as well as stronger versions of monsters from some of the upper floors like Lizardman Elite, roam these floors.

As we exited the tunnel to the 29th floor. "Wow, this is like a forest or even a jungle on the surface." Cindy stated.

"That's why it's called the Dense Forest Ravine. You was it when you went down to the 37th floor to get me and Ryu." I reminded her.

"Well, we were in a hurry, and I wasn't paying attention to what it looked like." Cindy told me.

"That's understandable." I said.

"As usual I went to the Guild to find out what monsters are on these floors. There are Bloodsaurus, a red fifteen feet tall T-Rex monster. Tri-terror, a dark grey triceratops like monster. About the size of an elephant but built like a triceratops with three horns. They are not real fast, but they are agile. Even though they are not real fast they can still outrun a Level 3 adventurer. Then there are Raptor Swarm, they are like the Imps of the lower floors. They are only three feet tall, but they are usually found in packs of four or more and they are fast runners." I started.

Ryu spoke up then. "When I came down here with the Astraea Familia, we didn't know the names of some of the monsters down here, so we made up our own names. There are a few other dinosaur type monsters with spikes on their bodies and tails. There is the Fanosaurus because of the plates on it's back that look like fans and foot long spikes on it's tail. Spikeosaurus with two rows of long thick spikes on it's back, a row of long thick spikes on each side and a row of long thick spikes of either side of it's tail. Dacentrurus, like other they have plates, and spikes covering their body. The spikes along their body and tail are in two rows. Ramosaurus, this monster is 6 feet tall, and had a large length between 15 to 16 feet. One of its most impressive features is its thick skull, which is 10 inches thick (25 cm). The skull of the Ramosaurus is 10 times thicker than the average monster. Small spikes protruded out of their skull, as well as onto their face. Their hard skull let them batter whatever got in their way, similar to a ram. The Ramosaurus aren't to bas if you only run into one or two, but if there is a whole pack of them, they can be really dangerous." Ryu told us.

"And then there are the usual like Lizardmen Elites that are stronger than those on the upper floors. As well as Loup Garou and Barbarians." I continued.

"Sounds like a lot of dinosaur type of monsters." Kimmy observed.

I nodded my head in agreement. "That's what it looks like. With a few other monsters sprinkled in." I agreed.

"Are we going on down or stay on the safe zone?" Fia asked.

I chuckled. "We're going on down to the 29th floor for today. I thought we would work on one floor for every three full days we are down here." I started.

"That's a long time on each floor. We usually spend twenty-four hours on each floor." Rosni stated.

I nodded my head in agreement. "True, we usually do that. But for one, we aren't in a big hurry to get to the 37th floor where Udaeus is. It will be another six to eight weeks before he respawns. And two, that gives us plenty of time two explore each floor, gain more excelia and get more money." I replied.

"Money, money, money, it must be sunny, in the rich man's world." Cindy started to sing.

Iris and Kimmy started giggling at Cindy.

"You would Naʼashǫ́ʼiitsoh yázhí." I said with a chuckle.

"What does that mean?" Fia asked me.

"You mean, Naʼashǫ́ʼiitsoh yázhí?" Fia nodded her head in agreement. "It means little dragon." I told her. "It is a nick name I call her sometimes." I added.

"Oh, I understand." Fia replied.

'I guess I need to find nick names for Fia, Sky and Wiene, now. Although I do call Wiene, Naʼashǫ́ʼiitsoh yázhí, from time to time, and I also call sweetheart a lot.' I thought to myself.

Changing the subject and getting everyone back on track. "Okay, we need to get going." I told the group and started leading everyone on to the 29th floor. "Remember, since we haven't been to the 29th floor, you need to be prepared for anything." I reminded everyone.

There are a lot of similarities between the Great Tree Labyrinth and the Dense Forest Ravine. There is also quite a bit of differences as well. Here on the 29th floor there are what looks like huge trees all over the place. The 'trees' aren't all jammed together but there are many that are in close groups. There are also open fields as well. It is also a lot darker on this floor than up on the 19th-24th floors. It is about like late evening.

"Wow! Those trees are huge!" Iris exclaimed.

I think it would take all of us to be able to reach all the way around one of those trees." Kimmy put in.

"They look as bit as some of the redwoods." I stated.

"Redwoods? what are they?" Fia asked me.

"There are huge old trees at a place I've been to a long way from here." I told her. "Some are big enough that people have cut the insides of some out and made them into good sized cottage." I replied.

"That is big." Fia agreed.

It wasn't five minutes after we reached the 29th floor that we came across some monsters. There were six Raptor-Swarm and a Bloodsaurus.

"Everyone, take to the air!" I called out as soon as I saw the monsters.

That is the one good thing about this floor and the next few floors. Everything is land based so we can take to the air to fight them a lot easier.

Fia and Sky shifted to their natural forms with their Extra Arms. Everyone on my Team took on dragon wings and tail as well as Wiene and Rosni extended eagle wings. Because Ryu hasn't had much practice flying and she likes using her speed to attack, she stayed in her Chienthrope form and started running.

"[Scatter and take out the raptor-swarm. I told my Team. Ryu help my Team. Wiene, Fia, Sky go after the Bloodsaurus.]" I gave and sent instructions. "[I'm going after the Bloodsaurus as well.]" I added so everyone would know what I was doing.

Ryu dashed around the Bloodsaurus running towards the Raptor-Swarm. She summoned her wooden sword, Dawn's Light, as she was running.

I summoned my naginata, Sasori and took to the air. "[*Wiene see if you can freeze it's feet to the ground.

Wiene moved her hands and ice formed in a large area on the ground just in front of the Bloodsaurus. The monster stepped onto the ice before it's back leg could be frozen to the ground, but because of the ice the Bloodsaurus's foot slipped, and the monster fell to the ground.

"Aaarrrggggghhh!" Wiene yelled. "[I did it wrong!]"

"[It still worked.]" I assured Wiene. "[Everyone get it!]" I called to my party.

Sky threw one of her throwing axes at it, using doppelganger as it left her hand creating twenty copies of her axe.

Fia did the same with her spear at the same time I threw Sasori and created thirty copies. while Wiene threw her spear-mace.

Each weapon hit one right after the other, with Wiene's spear-mace causing a small flame as it pierced the monster. A moment later the Bloodsaurus went up in a cloud of smoke and ash.

There was a blue light as Cindy spit a ball of blue fire at the last of the Raptor-Swarm, killing the monster.

After we all landed, Wiene walked over to me almost in tears. "I didn't do it right. I missed it's legs." She told me dejectedly.

"Your timing was off a little, but you still stopped it from moving." Fia told Wiene.

"We need to work on your Ice Control and you're timing. You haven't used your Ice Creation and Control very much. So, you're not used to using it. That is why I wanted you to use your Ice Control on the monster." I assured Wiene as I have her a hug.

"Are you sure?" Wiene asked me.

"Positive." I replied.

Wiene looked up at me and gave me a small smile and hugged me back.

"We got two Raptor-Swarm claws." Cindy informed us as she walked over to my party.

"That's a good start to these lower floors." Kimmy said.

Sky walked over to the pile of ash that used to be the Bloodsaurus and picked up the magic stone. She walked back over to the rest of us and handed the magic stone to Rosni.

"I'm sure Welf will love getting his hands on those Raptor-Swarm claws to make knives out of." I stated.

"Not bad for our first time on the 29th floor." I told everyone.

"We were down here for the rescue mission." Cindy stated.

"True, but everyone just went through as fast as you can and y'all weren't on these floors to fight monsters. You were here to get to Ryu and myself as fast as you could. So, I really don't count that. Just like when we went down to the 18th floor to rescue Bell, Welf and Lili. We went through the floors to get to Bell, not to fight monsters. So, we didn't really count being on the 18th floor as a floor we had reached yet." I told Cindy and the others.

"Ya, that makes since."

"Let's get going. This is a big floor to go through." I told everyone and headed out.

That's how we spend the next few weeks. Hitting the deep floors.
