Teenage me would've cringed at people seeing my old "other characters in Sly Cooper style" scribbles, yeah, but Cringe is dead and I'm its wealthy widow collecting on its life insurance policy.

Here’s an important note going in: in this world cogs are born either the natural way (which surprises toons because they didn’t realize that toon and cog reproduction wasn’t all that different) or are commissioned to be built using their parents genetic material/coding

William Boar

Late 30’s-early 40’s, bi trans man, white boy, autistic, shares a dad with Desmond but different moms since Will’s mom passed away before his dad remarried to Desmond’s mom, dating/eventually marries Rain and has what’s (to their knowledge at the time) the first documented cog/toon hybrid post main story, daughter is named Olive and she's more cog than toon

Buck Ruffler

Mid-late 30’s bi man, Chilean, AuDHD and (family inherited that manifested after the stress caused by his failed toon up) Schizophrenia, mom is still alive but dad passed away, married to Dave and has one daughter with him whom they commissioned to be built named Gliss (short for the piano term Glissandro)

Brian (Monarch but shhh he doesn’t put that last name in his records bc of their secret shady dealings)

thoughts on the dead city finale:

sucks that ginny finally tried to talk and didn’t get to

everything i didn’t want to happen, happened lol. it’s revealed that ginny’s dad was one of the five men negan killed, and negan told her this to push her away and get her to go with armstrong, and now their relationship is likely strained if not ruined. she didn’t even want to wear his shirt anymore :( but you can also tell it hurt him to tell her and that he actually cares about her more than he says (confirmed bts later.) it also bugs me bc in ginny’s eyes this most likely confirmed maggie’s “he’s a monster” from last episode

and then i was unfortunately right, in that the dama wanted negan to... lead? help her lead? honestly it’s bizarre that she decided she needed him THAT badly and making him THAT important solely based on the croat’s fanboying, without ever meeting him. and now negan’s being forced into a position where he’ll likely have to be “old negan” again.

BUT. it’s complete bs that the answer to “how did the croat know about negan and maggie’s history” is “he randomly ran into Jerome The Random Savior (i checked and this is not someone who was seen previously in the saviors, not even as a background character) over ten years later, and jerome told him about the story of The Widow, because for some reason, out of everything negan did, maggie’s story is the only story anyone from the savior era ever talks about.” still doesn’t explain how the croat knew what maggie looked like or managed to find her new community, or how he knows negan worked with her in season 11, since jerome was long gone by then. I really hate “characters absent during important events know intimate details about those events because random character the audience never met told them about it off-screen bc the plot needs it” stuff

negan indirectly/accidentally killing luther ended up having no consequences and was never found out since everyone in luther’s group died. all it did was distract maggie from telling negan about ginny’s dino... which she ended up never telling him about. he realized she wasn’t being truthful about things but the fact that she hid the dino never comes up.

negan got stabbed in the chest/shoulder?? and he just pulled the knife out and there was no blood or tear in his jacket? dude was just entirely unaffected lol

negan also confirmed that he would’ve helped maggie anyway if she’d been honest with him from the get-go

look okay i’ll say it the negan/maggie fight scene was hot idc

armstrong lied and told the marshals he killed negan, which is nice, but will probably backfire on him later

hershel not seeming excited, relieved, grateful, or anything about maggie rescuing him. how long was he with the dama? seeing that he drew a picture of her and mentioned almost feeling safer there than at home, it almost seems like he liked being there or formed some kind of bond with her, despite her chopping one of his toes off.

their relationship makes me sad. i honestly also, sincerely find it a bit weird that they’re writing maggie as being “obsessed” with negan still? like i understand the idea of her having a hard time with looking at hershel and just being reminded of glenn, and that affecting her relationship with hershel and him being bothered by that. but hershel specifically says it feels like she only sees negan when she looks at him, not his dad. and that his whole life she’s just been looking over his shoulder waiting for negan. this feels weird to me, and is different from her being reminded of glenn and thus also what negan did, if that makes sense. she’s spent years and years away from negan, and that on top of how their relationship was at the end of season 11, this obsession being described doesn’t really make sense? you’re saying that throughout those years of finding and building communities, in private she’s still obsessing over him that noticeably? that it’s so bad that hershel thinks 5+ years later that she still cares more about “revenge” and says he felt safer in nyc with the dama? it doesn’t totally seem to line up with what we’re seeing. idk maggie deserves a better storyline than constantly revolving around negan and glenn. and vice versa for that matter. i don’t want hershel to turn out like he did in the comics.

i like that hershel seems to have creative hobbies. he’s great at drawing and i believe we saw him playing the guitar?

i don’t know how i feel about the River People, and the confirmation that there were more groups Negan once ruled over. with the whole “people are a resource” thing and negan being vehemently against simon wiping out entire communities, and all out war presumably being the first time negan got desperate enough to resort to killing everyone, what happened to the River group since they’re clearly not in the picture anymore by the time Rick’s group shows up? if they were truly unable to provide, thus negan killing someone when they fail to deliver, i don’t see negan just continuing to kill someone every week until there was no one left. so like what happened there. this is also another issue with them adding new things to negan’s pre-rick days. they do realize negan was only a leader for likely not even a year and a half? there was not that much time after lucille’s death for negan to find the sanctuary, take over, and go through a whole bunch of communities. I also don’t know whether or not i like negan offering to let the croat use lucille and be the person to “kill one” in order to get the group to submit. especially since it was said that croat was brand new to the group and didn’t even know how things worked yet?? though it’s hilarious he missed the first time. you’re embarrassing dad, dude.

if this doesn’t end in negan offing the dama and getting a second chance to lead and doing it The Right Way this time then i don’t want it

Dust, that is all in her mind, close her eyes for sleep? Dust, having a dream? Dust, an anxiety attack? Triggered by dust. She kept dreaming the same thing all over again, herself in that control room, suddenly losing contact with half of the people in the battlefield, watching the other people in it become dust, and when she came out, there was a light cloud of dust that was people, that was the signal of defeat. 

It's been two months, but everything kept feeling like yesterday.

Her aunt Gloria planned a girls day, at her home in Long Island, the few adult girls of the family that make it and some survivor friends of her, in a whole day of alcohol, food and "spa". 

"I found vodka, Rum and Wine" her cousin Diana sits at her side, with the company of her two "now widowed" cousins Rosa and Michelle.

The four of them were hiding in an old closet of the guest room.

"I claim the wine" Val takes the bottle, opens it and starts drinking from it.

That was her daily routine, wake up, smile, pretends everything is fine and drink all the liquor she could find, she knows her drinking state was ending that week when Miguel force her to go to a psychiatrist and a therapist 

"Why did this have happened?" asks Rosa, with the Rum in her hand "I mean, I understand we were fully sons of bitches with the environment, but this is awful, why do I have to lose my husband? What can I say to my kids?"

"At least he “died” and not left with another family with a much younger wife in Portugal"

"Val is right"

"Cheers" Val and Diana do a drunk high five

Steve calls Valentina’s brother to dinner. The old capsicle was worried about her, somehow he felt the pain she was feeling but she was close to speaking with him, or whoever was a superhero.

"She is a mess, man. I have seen my sister being a mess but this time… she drinks herself to sleep"

"There is something I can do for her?"

"Yeah" Miguel looks at his empty cup of coffee" Stop trying to push her, she needs time, I understand that you are doing this for good, but she needs space. She feels guilty"

"Is not her fault"

"She knows it, but somehow, when someone leaves because dies or something, she feels it is all her fault" they both made a pause, that Miguel used as an advantage to look at his phone" You know what? Yes, you can help me with something"

Miguel drives to his aunt Gloria's house in Long Island with Steve. Someone as skinny and definitely not sporty as him, the task that his aunt Gloria was asking to do, was now difficult.

The scene is quite sad, her sister was on the floor, literally rolling on the carpet laughing hard at the shenanigans of Rosa and Michelle, trying to fight, and Diana, well, she was in the bed, jumping, cheering at her cousins. All of them in a really sad drunken state, evading reality.

"Yeah, I’m pretty sure this is more than alcohol" Miguel took his phone, opened the camera app and took some pictures of it, Valentina needed to see herself.

"Is just alcohol, nada mas mira el tiradero de botellas que se tienen"

Miguel sighs, putting his phone in his pants pocket.

"Took Valentina, I would try to stop those locas"

Steve nods, and walks to Val, taking her and putting her over his shoulder.

"HEY! IS THE DORITO POPSICLE!" all the four drunken girls explode in laughter at Val’s comment" Wait, what are you… WAIT!" The poor girl tried to hold herself from the door frame, but it was useless, and Steve finally can take her out of the house.

It was around 5pm when Valentina was out of her drunken state, under Miguel’s order, Steve took her to her family restaurant, Las Tres Damas. Also the older sibling made a very clear order of keeping the little sister away from the alcohol and made her eat nuts and greasy food that can be found there, and that worked well.

"Where is Migue?" Steve take seat at her side and hand her a bottle of electrolytes

"I don’t know, he told me something about working in a different time zone"

"Shit, yeah… He is probably in my apartment" she opens the bottle and takes a few long sips" I owe you an apology, Steve. All that happened is nobody faults, you tried the best you could, all of you tried… we all… It just happened, I guess it has to be that way"

Steve gave her a sympathetic smile, everyone was feeling guilty, Avenger member or not. Silence establishes there for a brief moment, while both of them watch the empty restaurant.

"You know? This place was always full of people"

"Being honest, is the first time I heard of this place"

"The idea came from my aunt Gloria when uncle Jorge left in duty, he missed so much of his children, nieces and nephews, then my mom jumped in the idea, she gained money by cooking for rich people when she got divorced, and mi grandma Rita jumped later, her first job in America was in a kitchen. Those ladies brought together their ideas and created Las Tres Damas, a place in which veterans could see their kids perform on a lazy night, even if it was an old thing, a family place to reunite; a safe place for everyone that needed that kind of place"

"What a shame that I missed that all this years, sounds like a nice place to be"

"Maybe, one day when the family feels ready, this place will open again. I’ll be sure to keep the best place for you and Nat. And whoever superhero that would want to come."

"That would be nice"

"Steve, I need a favor… Would you teach me how to fight? Like… for real, training me"

His first thoughts were related to a really bad drunk joke, but Valentina kept her straight face, she was talking seriously about it.

thanks for asking! i actually had a small converation about this with a friend yesterday - of figuring out who belle's partner is/was. she never ever mentions having a partner, and she's very focused on talking about just her grandchildren. i know that is just to portray her grandma trope - but her being mrs. dama **AND** having a confirmed family and grandkids (and kids by extention) does make me raise an eyebrow at that!

i am sort of making my own story here, that's been in the works for over a year but hasn't gone anywhere due to struggles with cassie's design. but, now i'm getting there, so now's a good time to ponder!

to the design-side of things - i haven't really considered these colors while designing collin, i just went with a more purpley-than-blue design to fit his role as a sellbot better. (and because i LOVE drawing and designing things with purple.)

i then designed tony backwards (after collin!), and haven't exactly considered who the other parent is. i wouldn't break my mind over the colors too much, myself, since that feels almost genetical and these fellows are robots. with that, i just made tony purple! (but red was considered, i think! on my touch tone touch tone telephone)

also, i am re-working how cogs/suits function in my work, so i am once again stuck on the "how make baby where baby come from" question. but, i stand with my previous headcanon, that it is like in Robots, where they build their children and just often do it based on their own physical traits they have.

either way, back on topic, i wanna talk about belle's partner since it is fresh on mind!

i actually considered making her a widow - which my friend suggested too! adds a bit more drama and reason into some of the actions the damas take in my current story, and it makes more sense and fits together better.

would also give an explanation on why someone who's so invested in her family never mentions her partner - because she's trying to move on / has moved on. (though we don't hear of all her rambles and rumor-talk, do we...?) + we know me and my bright colorful characters who do goofy things who actually have slightly fucked up stories behind all that. i promise i am not trying to make an angst fest, i just want a story with ups and downs and conflict and drama to... have a story...? can't have a Real Good story if nothing happens and all is good, lol. just wanted to say that

or just a divorce story! also stirs a family apart. gives different but similar reasonings for actions the character's take... and POSSIBLY an even better reason to not discuss this (past) partner!.... why a divorce story? WE DON't KNOW HOW COGS/SUITS DIE. DON'T MAKE ME TURN THIS INTO ANOTHER ATTICUS LORE CONVO. ILY ATTICUS BUT CHRIST WAS THAT POORLY HANDLED.

(aside from like, old comics being hidden and us being told there's a rewrite happening) so now the lore is even MORE confusing than it was...! so...! how canonical is "the first death" anyway...? if anything that's one thing in the story i want to respect. quite a BIG deal. but also even back then it wasn't handled as seriously and interestingly as it could've been so...! aaaand i am sure the Writers know that and i think trying to rework it is a great choice. but man. i will for once let my opinions and criticisms be public, hidden away in this ramble - staff needs better communication on Everything but ofc lore stuff is gonna be my first Complaing lol. yall r saving explanations for later and behind an event (thomas) and args...! please what happeun to atticus...! ok i already turned this into a ramble. i don't wanna design them. that's that. i'll be real. lol.

i am... ! already working on cassie's partner, and eventually THEIR child. this has been a concept for over a year and i'm slowly finally getting there, i don't want another member on my shoulders just yet :sob:

and the whole story i am telling here is heavy on the family drama (before i try introducing other characters perhaps...? cassie does have her partner, but her side of the story is a bit disconnected, her being a celebrity in my lore and all. generally being more distant in the family.)

so... that is to say! belle's partner could be anyone! could be red, blue, yellow... who knows! but! red would be nice because red on phones is Nice and The Usual Phone Color Depiction. you can imagine them as whatever for now, as i do not plan on getting a design done for now.)

divorced, widowed, still married... where my story is going is still unclear. and so is the design! probably will never exist. i'll see - i do need to focus more on belle in the story, as it's very tony/collin centric at the moment.

I just read everything in your desert comic tag and am enthralled. Is there any piece of world building it that you like but haven't gotten a chance to share yet?

Oh! Nomads! Nomads are a clan of traders who travel outside of the rainy season, going from clan to clan, basically acting as a news network. They usually bunk down with various clans on a rotating basis. There are many small caravans, but there’s a ruler they answer too as well. None of the clans ever know who it is.

A harem isn’t called a harem, it’s called a household! So someone from a clan would introduce themself as clan-household-position-personal name. If they’re really religious they’ll add their god they worship after. So, “clan x, 1st wife of household blah, called Name, secant of God.” This only for first meetings and formal events though. Normal occasions just name and husband, or father if they’re unwed. Clan is usually obvious from their marks. Chiefs introduce themsleves name first always because they effectively are the entire clan basically.

1st wife clan has a tradition that a good wife is submissive to their husband in all things, and it’s kinda gross! They also cover the wife’s forehead because it’s solely for their husbands eyes.

Mc isn’t the first person from her family to fall into this new world. Her uncle went missing when she was a kid, and it turned out he also got portald! Unlike mc, uncle didn’t become a husband though — he became a wife, because he just didn’t have control cover his magic. He’s the only wife though because his magic is a lot, and his nomad husband (who’s a (female???)widower btw, and survived the loss of three wives in a particularly terrible swarm) gave up being a caravan leader just to focus on helping uncle not kill himself. They’re one of those old couples who radiated comfort when they’re together.

There are great festivals in the fall, just before rainy season where the clans who the eligible young adults would fest together, looking for compatible spouses. It’s generally a big party for singles or people looking to expand.

No one really has to care about relations outside of your immediate relatives (same father siblings, parent-child), because magic isn’t really genetic. If you’re too closely related, no spark will take no matter what you try. Genealogy isn’t really tracked.

Some clans treat wives as mere objects for the husband to use, but in most cases wives are extremely involved in the selection of new wives. It’s important for the people Ives to be able to hold the line if the worst happens to everyone in front of them.

It’s taboo for wives to sleep with anyone besides their husband, including their fellow wives. There are more than a few tragedy’s written about wives who fall in love with each other and forget their duty to their husband lol. Husbands can sleep with anyone they want though. The double standards are very real!

Because it’s a harem system, the kids have different names for the mothers! 1st wife is called Ama, 2nd is Shima, Eoma, Shuma, Dama, etc. A child would call their own direct mother Mama sometimes though. So thr child of the first wife may refer to their fathers second wife as Sima, and their own mother as either ama or mama. fathers are always Ada.

The Wives of Agathocles tyrant of Syracuse (361 BC -289 BC)

1. The Widow of Damas (IV century BC - III century BC) Her name has been lost to history and it is only known she was the widow of Damas, the wealthy patron and erastès of young Agathocles. By marrying his former lover’s widow and taking possession of her riches, the future tyrant reinforced his position and used his newly acquired wealth as a stepping stone in his conquest of power. This unnamed woman gave Agathocles two sons: Archagathus and Heracleides.

2 Alkeia (IV century BC - III century BC) Mother of Agathocles II and Lánassa, queen of Epyrus as spouse of Pyrrhus I. Alkeia is mentioned by Diodorus Siculus in his account of the Syracusan expedition in Africa. After getting drunk during a dinner party, a soldier called Lyciscus insinuated Agathocles’ son Archagathus had a secret affair with his step-mother Alkeia. Angered for having been insulted in front of his father, Archagathus slayed Lyciscus with a spear. This murder shocked the soldiers who revolted against Agathocles and his family. During the uprising, the Princes Archagathus and Heracleides were executed by the troops. As revenge of his sons’ deaths, Agathocles sent to death all the families of the rioters. Following his brothers’ deceases, Alkeia’s son Agathocles II became his father’s successor but was killed in 289 BC by his own half-nephew Archagathus. Embittered by his grandson’s horrific act, a dying Agathocles proclaimed as his heir the people of Syracuse, thus reinstating the democracy.

3 Theoxena of Syracuse (before 317 BC - after 289 BC)  Her mother was Greek Macedonian princess Berenice, great-niece of the general and Regent Antipater of Macedonia, and later second Ptolemaic queen of Egypt as spouse of Ptolemy I. While her father was Berenice's first husband Philip, a Greek Macedonian nobleman who had served under Alexander The Great. Theoxena had two full siblings: Magas (later king of Cyrene), and Antigone, first wife of Pyrrhus I of Epyrus. She was also step-sister of Ptolemy II of Egypt, Arsinoe II and Philotera from her mother’s marriage to Ptolemy. After Philip’s death in 381 BC, Berenice took her children to Egypt to live at the court of her second maternal cousin Eurydice, first wife of Ptolemy I. The king soon fell in love with Berenice and divorced from Eurydice to marry his beloved. Theoxena grew up as a Ptolemaic princess and her marriage to Agathocles of Syracuse was part of Ptolemy’s diplomatic strategy to create and strenghten various allegiances with other Ellenistic sovereigns. While in Syracuse, she gave birth to two children: Archagathus of Lybia and Theoxena the Younger. Just before Agathocle’s death, Theoxena had to leave Sicily with her children on the order of her husband, who feared for their lives. Theoxena spent her remaining years living in Egypt, at the court of her mother and step-father. Her chilren and their descendants played important roles under the reigns of her step-brother Ptolemy II, nephew Ptolemy III and great-nephew Ptolemy IV.

“…Inés Vanegas was only one of Catherine’s ladies at court who came to England and stayed. María de Salinas was the daughter of Martín de Salinas, a noble courtier to king Fernando, and Josefa Gonzales de Salas and, some suggest, perhaps related to the royal family. María was part of Catherine’s entourage from Spain but the details from 1501 to 1509 are not well known except that she attended Catherine at her coronation. Her family’s wealth and prestige made her an asset to Catherine’s court and she remained one of the queen’s closest and most loyal friends. Their friendship is well documented in the Tudor historical record, which include letters, payments and gifts, and reports of life at court from the Spanish ambassadors.

María was a very appealing bride, marrying William, eleventh lord Willoughby of Eresby, a baron and the largest landowner in Lincolnshire, on 5 June 1516 at Greenwich, probably in the chapel of the Observant Friars (Franciscans) where Catherine and Henry had married. By all accounts, María de Salinas moved fluidly from the Spanish court to the English. Her ease with the English customs and culture and family connections on the continent had important practical benefits. Her relative, Juan Adursa, a Castilian merchant in Flanders, worked with Juan Manuel, former advisor to Catherine’s brother-in-law, Archduke Philip of Burgundy, giving Catherine access to information about her sister, Juana.

Eustace Chapuys, the resident Spanish ambassador and a man privy to the secret, and not-so-secret activities at court, reports that the: few Spaniards who are still in her household prefer to be friends of the English, and neglect their duties as subjects of the King of Spain. The worst influence on the Queen is exercised by Doña María de Salinas, whom she loves more than any other mortal. Doña María has a relation of the name of Juan Adursa, who is a merchant in Flanders, and a friend of Juan Manuel. He hopes, through the protection of Juan Manuel, to be made treasurer of the Prince of Castile. By means of Juan Adursa and Doña María de Salinas, Juan Manuel is able to dictate to the Queen of England how she must behave. The consequence is that he can never make use, in his negotiations, of the influence which the Queen has in England, nor can he obtain through her the smallest advantage in any other respect.

The word “love” in the later Middle Ages can mean many things depending on context –courtly love, friendship, love of God, lord-vassal relationships, an apprentice for a master– and it could be shorthand for friendly affection. But Chapuys is clearly suggesting that the love has political implications, which further complicates an understanding of the significance of the relations of Catherine and her servants. But later events suggest a deep personal bond. María de Salinas had been forced to leave queen Catherine’s service in 1532 due to the politics of the divorce proceedings and Henry VIII’s marriage to Anne Boleyn, but she remained part of Catherine’s life. She defied Henry’s orders –never a wise thing to do even under the best of circumstances– and continued to correspond with the cast-off queen and sent her news of her daughter, Mary Tudor.

She and Charles Brandon, the king’s brother-in-law and close friend who was sent by Henry on numerous missions, had to impress upon Catherine the reality of her new marital state. In April 1533 Brandon had to tell her that she was no longer queen, and in December 1533 he was ordered to disband some of her servants and move her to the unhealthy home at Somersham. Catherine, defiant, locked herself in her room. María de Salinas told Chapuys that Catherine only relented when Charles admitted how he wished something dreadful would have happened on the road that would have made it impossible for him to carry out his duty to Henry. These are the actions of someone who is more than just a servant.

The depth of this relationship continued to the end. In 1535, when Catherina was seriously ill, María was denied permission to visit the former queen but once again, she defied Henry and traveled to Kimbolton Castle anyway. She was with Catherina when she died on January 7, 1536 and was the second mourner at Catherine’s funeral in February. Catherina had an equally close friendship with another Spanish noblewoman who served in her court. María de Rojas, daughter of Francesco de Rojas, count of Salinas, was one of Catherine’s closest and most intimate of the ladies at court, first in Spain and later in London. She appeared in queen Isabel’s household accounts in 1501 when she was paid 27,000 maravedís and received clothing in payment for service in 1500.

Her relationship with Catherina was as close as that of María de Salinas, a fact known best through her testimony in 1530 before the papal court concerning the divorce. She was asked to give a deposition concerning the consummation of the marriage between Catherina and Prince Arthur, who had died in April 1502, just a few months after their wedding. María de Rojas stated that to comfort the young widow, she had slept in bed with Catherina for the first few days after Arthur’s death: The same questions to be put to the wife of Juan Cuero once waiting maid to the said queen of England, and who is supposed to reside nowadays at Madrid; also to María de Rojas, wife of Don Álvaro de Mendoça, who used to sleep in the same bed with Her Most Serene Highness the Queen, after the death of prince Arthur, her first husband.

This is a remarkable glimpse into Catherina and into the sort of intimacy of life at court that was crucial to Catherina’s transition first from Spain to England and then from bride to widow. María de Rojas’s social rank and closeness to Catherina made her a desirable potential bride, first for the son of the earl of Derby, and later, the son of Elvira Manuel. Neither marriage took place and she returned to Spain around 1504 as señora de Santa Cruz de Campero where she married Álvaro de Mendoza y Guzman, son of Juan Hurtado de Mendoza and his second wife Leonor de Guzmán. It is possible that Maria de Rojas and María de Salinas were related and that when María de Rojas left England to marry, María de Salinas replaced her.

The intensely political life at court was not always conducive to such loyalty and devotion, and was often fraught with dangers. This is best exemplified by the relationship of Catherina and Elvira Manuel, guarda de las damas for Catherina, from 1499 to 1500, and her camarera mayor (chief household officer) from 1500 until 1507. Elvira Manuel de Villena Suárez de Figueroa was the daughter of Juan Manuel de Villena Fonseca, señor de Belmonte de Campos, and Aldonza Suárez de Figueroa. She married Manrique Manuel, Catherina’s chief mayordomo, and together the couple formed a key part of Catherina’s household in England.

Elvira made her first appearance in Catherina’s household in 1501, as Catherina prepared to move to England and on 10 March 1501 she received a payment of 100,000 maravedís: en cuenta de 216,666 marvedís de ovo de aver de su rraçcion e quitaçcion e ayuda de costa de vn año e ocho meses, en que seruio los años pasados de noventa e nueve e quinientos años, por el cargo de la guarda de sus damas. Their son, Iñigo, also came to England, as the master of Catherina’s pages. Elvira kept close contact with her brother, Juan Manuel, who was a servant of Philip of Burgundy.

In December 1505, Elvira was accused of promoting Philip’s interests at the expense of those of king Fernando, Catalina’s father, and Elvira was told to leave England. She departed on the pretext of visiting a doctor in Flanders about a disease that had already caused her to lose one of her eyes, but she knew that she would not be permitted to return. She had alienated not only king Henry but also Catherina. Elvira spent the rest of the life among Spanish exiles in Flanders.”
