Similarly to override, overdrives are their own separate entities
The big difference is that 1) they're sentient and 2) their intelligence goes from animalistic to caveman esc quickly
This also means that these forms can name themselves, and they're very good at it trust me
There's Macaroni (Graham’s), Nugget (Will’s), Biscuit (Holly’s), Megaladon (Mary’s), Blenky (Misty’s courtesy of @drawingqu33n ), Bingus (Flint’s), and Baritone (Dave’s), and Overdrive (Chip)
Oh and Chip’s overdrive form just named itself overdrive
All overdrives go by it/its bc they don't know/care about the concept of gender

Time for some general info about each Manager!
Here’s an important note going in: in this world cogs are born either the natural way (which surprises toons because they didn’t realize that toon and cog reproduction wasn’t all that different) or are commissioned to be built using their parents genetic material/coding
William Boar
Late 30’s-early 40’s, bi trans man, white boy, autistic, shares a dad with Desmond but different moms since Will’s mom passed away before his dad remarried to Desmond’s mom, dating/eventually marries Rain and has what’s (to their knowledge at the time) the first documented cog/toon hybrid post main story, daughter is named Olive and she's more cog than toon
Buck Ruffler
Mid-late 30’s bi man, Chilean, AuDHD and (family inherited that manifested after the stress caused by his failed toon up) Schizophrenia, mom is still alive but dad passed away, married to Dave and has one daughter with him whom they commissioned to be built named Gliss (short for the piano term Glissandro)
Brian (Monarch but shhh he doesn’t put that last name in his records bc of their secret shady dealings)
Early to mid 40’s, bi man, white boy, Autistic (I plan to potentially add more considering what he does in the story so I wanna see if more than just autism explains his behavior besides psychopathy) mother is alive but dad “mysteriously “ died, has a lot of siblings and he’s one of the youngest, married to Ben and they commissioned a daughter together whom they name Chime
Misty Monsoon
Mid 30’s, bi demigirl, Afro-Hispanic, AuDHD OCD and Bipolar, mom is a single mom, marries Mary and Holly and I plan to give them at least two bubbies (kids)
Mary Anna
Mid to late 30’s, Filipino, AMAB intersex bigender bisexual individual who uses he/she, has a mom and dad and a few siblings, married Misty at first and eventually maybe Holly too if the two develop feelings for each other lol, has a kid with Misty
Holly Grayelle
Mid to late 30’s, British with a medieval inflection, bisexual woman, Autistic, has a mom and dad and younger brother, marries Misty first then maybe later Mary too, has a kid with Misty
Alton Crow
Early 40’s, Texan white boy, bi man, AuDHD (which means autistic and ADHD btw), comes from a big family, is married to a buff and tall cow based cog lady and has a son and daughter with her
Prester Virgil
Late 50’s to early 60’s, cishet, white boy, Depression and PTSD, comes from a big family, is a struggling divorced dad to his one daughter whom he eventually gives custody of to Chip and his partner after situations that cause Prester to realize he’s not mentally well enough to be a father
Winston Charme
Early 80’s, cishet, white boy (subject to change may make him and Dana black), possibly AuDHD with a form of Dementia and PTSD, only living relative is his great niece Dana whom he ends up in the care of after a legal case between the ye olde toontown elders and the lawbots
Benjamin Biggs
Early 40’s, bi man, British, OCD in the forms of obsessive love and organization and possible either sociopathy or psychopathy (still working out that one), mom and deceased dad, married to and has a kid with Brian
Cathal Bravecog
Mid 20’s, pan demiboy, white (subject to change though I’m tempted to make him half asian from his mom’s side) might also make him autistic but idk, divorced mom and dad, honestly haven’t put much thought into him yet but I wanna maybe give him a partner
Dave Brubot
Mid 30’s, bi man, Haitian/Brazilian/Italian, AuDHD, has a mom and dad and four younger siblings, married to and has a kid with Buck
Belle Dama
Early 70’s, cishet, white (possibly subject to change but I also kinda want her to be an ally white grandma who doesn’t like any form of discrimination and will give you hugs and cookies if you need it), possibly autistic but idk, comes from a big family, widower with several children and grandchildren, eventually dates Cosmo
Cosmo Kupier
Early 70’s, cishet, Italian, comes from a big family, widower whom can’t have kids so his mob is going to his henchmen when he dies, eventually dates Belle
Flint Bonpyre
Mid 30’s, bi demiboy, Afro-Venezualan, Autistic and General Anxiety Disorder, two moms, married to and eventually has a kid or several with Graham
Chip Revvington-Campbell
Early to mid 40’s, bi man, white boy, Autistic and PTSD, adopted by Spruce’s family when he was very young but has since regained contact and is friendly with his bio mom, dating/married to and eventually has several kids with his assistant Bubblegum Pop along with their adopted child from Prester named Nixie
Spruce Campbell
Mid to late 40’s, pan man, white boy (Scottish mostly), comes from a big family, thinking of giving him a partner eventually
Tawney C. Esta
Mid 60’s, genderfluid heteroasexual, tempted to make them either Mexican or Hispanic or from another Spanish speaking country bc of how their name is a pun for siesta, comes from a big family, wife but no kids
Graham Ness Payser
Mid 30’s, bi (male leaning) man, mixed (mom is white dad is black, his older sister looks more black than he does and it’s a running joke that she took all the melanin leaving Graham looking white) ADHD and Narcissistic, has a mom and dad and an older sister, married to and eventually has one or several kids with Flint
Desmond Kerosene-Boar
Early 30’s, bi man, white boy, half brothers with Will, in a poly relationship with Buck Wilde and Dana and whom I may eventually give three kids
Buck Crow Wilde
Early 30’s, bi man, Texan white boy, Alton’s cousin, in a poly relationship with Desmond and Dana and whom I may eventually give three kids
Dana S Charme
Early 30’s, pan genderfluid, white (subject to change), Winston’s great niece, in a poly relationship with Desmond and Buck Wilde and whom I may eventually give three kids

Quick summary of this AU
CONTENT WARNINGS: experimentation, death, body horror, mental/physical torture/abuse, mental health and physical health issues
Basic Summary
2 years after the game’s current time, the war between toons and cogs is going in favor of the toons. The chairman is getting both nervous and desperate. Prethinker, who'd been quite aware of the whole situation, had a plan. That plan was a project he wanted to propose known as project overdrive. It had been his secret passion project he'd been working on with his husband Bellringer.
Prethinker had discovered a way to harness pure “toon energy” from the gags of toons and toons themselves, and after a complicated process was able to combine it with cog technology to create what’s essentially an upgraded override. Cogs who are given the overdrive chip, otherwise known as changnium, can achieve an overdrive state. Overdrive is a monstrous form that has animal traits based on random animals if toon energy from gags is used, and specific animals if toons are used.
Prethinker suggests sending these monstrous cogs out at night to take out resistance members. The chairman, who again is desperate and under blackmail shortly into the project’s company endorsement, puts more funding and research into this project. He was worried that the very limited energy from gags would make the project difficult, but then prethinker’s husband bellringer suggested using toons themselves. With the help of dip of course. The chairman, much to the secret horror of the VP and CFO, agrees to this and using some of the managers as test subjects if regular cog test subjects work. They do, so after six months to a year the managers the chairman is willing to let get experimented on get overdrive forms.
What no one but the chairman, Brian, Ben, and Brian’s “suppliers” (his family) know is that the chairman was blackmailed into letting this project happen. He'd wanted to back out when Ben and Brian revealed that the idea of using gag energy had been scrapped a long time ago, and that toons were being used. As it turns out, Brian has been working on Project Overdrive ever since his failed tune-up on Buck. During that time Brian discovered that toons themselves were better than gags as “toon fuel”. The narrative of the chairman being concerned about gags not providing enough energy and agreeing to using toons is a fabrication. Ben and Brian hold over the chairman’s head that they could go and tell everyone back in Suitopia that none of this was their idea in the first place, and that the chairman forced them to do it. Ben was good at fabricating evidence and acting after all. The chairman basically made a deal with the devil without fully realizing what he was getting into. To make things even worse, the CLO and CEO end up promoting and support Ben and Brian once they learn all the juicy details. The VP and CFO are forced to stay under threat of harm.
Overdrive, like override, is an AI. Unfortunately for Prethinker and Bellringer, the overdrive AIs become sentient. They're animalistic in mind at first, but over time the managers that have them and the managers that don't manage to “tame” and befriend them as the AIs become more intelligent. It's a battle for the afflicted managers and the AIs sharing a body with them (think Eda and the owl beast) to retain control and to not bring too much harm to toons. Thankfully, secretly of course, an alliance is forming between some resistance members (thanks to Rain) and the managers in order to take down cogs.ink for good.
Supporting Details
-Chip, Spruce, Bubble, Buck, and Dave are the leaders of the eventual revolution
-so far the ones who have overdrive are Chip, Dave, Graham, Misty, Mary, Holly, William, and Flint
- the monstrous cogs are only sent out either at night, or during missions where toon groups are fighting in buildings
- there's very little known about monstrous cogs by the general public, half of them thinking that they're just rumors
-the toon resistance is trying to learn as much as they can with the help of the managers, though at first a lot of them didn't even want to associate with cogs. Rain had to convince them to work in secret with the managers, and in the process earned ire from some of them for dating a cog manager.
-threats against the managers and their loved ones are the only reason the managers haven't blasted this all out to the public
-Prethinker thought that the managers would be too afraid of the overdrive entities to do anything about them, so he was Big Mad ™️ when they pulled a How to Train Your Dragon on his ass
-secret groups in the resistance are established and coined as “cog control”, a play on animal control
These groups are made of only the resistance’s strongest warriors
They're sent out either to seek out overdrive threats in the night and to come to the aid of weaker toons that have encountered them while in a building
They wear special uniforms and voice modulators that conceal their identities so that cogs.ink can't target them outside of work
They're also the ones that help the managers when it comes to getting over the “kill initiative” of the overdrive
Non afflicted, afflicted, and tamed overdrives also assist when there isn't the threat of being caught
Multislacker helps immensely with avoiding security detection, and if possible the managers try to obscure their identities (some such as Alton can't really do that)
Rain is the leader of the strongest cog control group and the tutor of all cog control groups, bubble (oc partner of chip) providing assistance when not busy with helping with taming overdrives
-”kill initiative” is coding that activates in the presence of a toon that has gags on hand. It heightens the fear and aggression of overdrive, making it so they're more likely to deal fatal damage rather than merely self defense when fighting toons.
This coding was put in as merely a safeguard against rebellion at first, as during training overdrives were told to fear toons
After realizing that the overdrives were becoming more sentient and less cooperative, Brian made it so the coding would be activated more easily
The resistance and the other managers work through this by helping them “fight” their programming, something Chip is most familiar with considering his past with override
Ways to activate overdrive
Instant loss of control: Prethinker speaking the word “resistance”
Slower loss of control: kill initiative overpowering both the manager and the overdrive, great emotional and/or physical distress being experienced by both, ben saying resistance
Giving over control: the managers and the overdrives can decide who's in control. This only happens either when both parties are in control/calm, or in a dire situation where overdrive is needed and can control itself
Overdrive forms produce dip, which is how they're able to kill toons
Overdrive forms have the animal traits of the toons that were killed in order to make the changium core that the overdrive chip resides in
There are toons known as “specialized toons”, which are toons with very powerful and unique gags. These toons are the primary targets for overdrive forms.

I already mentioned ships in a previous post, but figured I should elaborate more on them! I’ll only focus on the main ships this time
Will x Rain
The classic enemies to lovers pipeline with these two! They also kinda have a dynamic similar to Squidward and SpongeBob before they officially get together, then it becomes more soft and gooey. Seriously only Rain can bring out Will’s cheesy/affectionate side, he just can’t help himself. They tried to keep their relationship a secret, but their friends suspected real hard what was going on and were just waiting for the two to admit it. They’re also t4t (Will is a trans man and Rain is an AMAB trans demigirl). They don’t get officially married until after cogs.ink is dismantled and made anew, and when they do they have a small personal wedding in a location hidden from the public. Rain proposed by the way. Will and Rain getting married is something they reveal to the public in their efforts to show that cogs and toons can get along, but they also acknowledge as much as they can the harm both sides have cost each other. More so cogs harming toons obviously. Them having a kid together was something they began to discuss, but just as they were starting plans to adopt or do surrogacy because they thought bio kids were very unlikely it just kinda happened. They were panicked at first but then quickly got their heads back on and came to the conclusion to keep the baby. Eight months later their daughter Olive was born, and she was the first reliably documented cog/toon hybrid before more eventually would be discovered. Rain named their daughter Olive because 1) O for oil haha funny and 2) brown and round, seriously Olive was chonky a ball even when she was born. She gets that from Will’s dad.
BruBuck
Their dynamic is Roger rabbit and Jessica Rabbit, but if Jessica was a mix of her and Roger’s personalities. The two were childhood friends that met when they were around 9-10, and remained friends up until their early 20’s when they both realized their feelings for each other. The two then dated until their late twenties, that being when Dave proposed to Buck. The two didn’t bother to hide their relationship, taking any negative comments with stride. In their 30’s is when they would have their first (and only since they have busy careers) daughter via commissioning. How the commission process works is that both parents submit genetic material, and then that is put into a big machine that creates parts from it. The parents then get to assemble their baby like the movie Robots after receiving them in the mail.
BellThinker
Ah yes, the evil old man yaoi. The two first met in collage and started out as friends, but from the beginning Ben had a deep infatuation for the other cog. It culminated in Ben sneaking in through Brian’s window one night, and while Brian was startled and a little scared at first Ben’s confession of love and total devotion won him over. Brian loved having someone who completely loved everything about him and wouldn’t hold him to high expectations. The two are attached at the hip when doing things they can do together and not individually. Brian is one of the few people to know all of Ben’s dark secrets, none of them making him love Ben any less. The two waited until they were older to have a kid because they simply couldn’t find the right time or place to settle down before.
Firesetter
I pretty much kept their dynamic the same as it is in canon, so there’s not much to say here. In terms of background, the two were friends for a bit in elementary/middle before losing touch after Graham’s family moved away. Graham was a dick during high school before his parents made him go to therapy for his developing narcissism problems, so he’s thankful that he reunited with Flint in college. Flint knows about Graham’s past, and is proud of how far he’s come as a person.
Misty/Mary/Holly
Misty and Mary met each other through their lines of work before joining cogs.ink, and started out as friends before becoming a couple. They’re very soft, sweet, and supportive ocean nerds. Holly and Mary don’t get along at first, and Mary was worried about how Holly would treat Misty considering their clashing personalities. Holly become protective and friendly towards Misty rather than chastising her for poor work performance because Holly was taught growing up to treat those like Misty with kindness (aka be the knight in shining armor to the fair maiden/man). Mary became willing to give Holly a chance after Misty became friends with Holly, and it was with Mary’s blessing that Misty started dating Holly too. Mary and Holly still aren’t exactly a couple, but they aren’t friends either. It’s complicated even if they’re married to/living with the same woman.
Chip/Bubble
Tired sad white boy and manic pixie dream girl
Chip has a type for the loud and colorful who are also respectful and kind (aka those like Dave Buck and high roller) and bubble likes tall sad quiet men. Besides that two, the two have some similar interests and fears such as others being afraid of them. They balance each other out in terms of personality. Bubble isn’t a toon nor a cog, rather a toon from another dimension where they live super long and are super powerful. She’s physically 200 but mentally they’re around Chip’s age and have been that way for most of their existence. Cogs.ink managed to capture him (when in reality bubble let himself get caught so his powers could be suppressed) and from there they didn’t really know what to do with him after getting her to do big things for the company didn’t work. They end up as Chip’s assistant and to make it look less weird to the public every other manager gets an assistant too (I’ll elaborate more on that later). After cogs.ink is dismantled and Bubble feels more secure in their powers, Chip and them are surprised when their attempts at having a kid together actually work. It was even more surprising when a few years later they had another kid.
Alton/Bess
Bess is a big and tall cog woman who resembles a longhorn cow, and she’s Alton’s darling wife who can lift him like a bag of chips. Southern lovey dovey couple out here! They have a few kids together too. Bess is more calm and subdued compared to Alton’s loud personality, but so help you if you make her mad.

How each manager that got an overdrive is coping with it (a bit different in the beginning and end of the story but this is generally it)
Reminders: overdrive forms are animalistic, but they get caveman-level intelligence quickly. Kill initiative causes them to become completely feral and deadly to toons, but when not in kill initiative the overdrive’s personalities vary
Will: in the beginning, he's a complete mess because of an incident where Rain almost died. It hasn't negatively impacted their relationship in the way Ben and Brian expected, as even despite losing an eye/hand/leg Rain isn't gonna let Will push them away. After learning of the kill initiative being the reason Rain almost died, him and Rain try to befriend/tame Will’s overdrive to prevent another incident. Will’s overdrive (which gives itself the name Nugget) is just as scared and confused as Will, but is also a stubborn grump like he is. Will has several conditions (will elaborate later) that make him tired more easily, so that's another part of the gaming process so Will and Nugget can keep the body they share stable.
Misty: many big and terrible feelings for the poor girl. She doesn't want to kill toons and protests it, but Ben fucks with her head by making her feel unstable and like a hypocrite. Her wives (Mary and holly) and her friends help her through the tough times, but she's definitely broken down a couple of times. Ben and Brian treat her nicer over time if only to avoid her wrath. Their overdrive form, blenky, is a shy and calm beast unless it's loud and crazy. It just wants to hang out near pretty lights (moth) and sleep. It doesn't take long for misty to tame it, but holding back kill initiative in the presence of toons at night is a challenge the two work through.
Mary: silently fuming. She wants to protect ocean waters from toon caused pollution, but killing them is too far. That's why he works hard with his overdrive megalodon on not doing that. Both her and Holly are stoic about the whole situation because they want to remain strong for Misty, but Mary is the one to break down first. Misty provides emotional support for both of their partners the same way they do for her, and her and Mary help Holly to open up. Megalodon is chill, but also prefers its space. Mary respects that, and works diligently to gain its trust.
Holly- as mentioned above, she tried to be stoic and no nonsense about taming her overdrive and plotting a secret revolution with her friends and wives. Her and Biscuit, her overdrive, cause headaches for brian and ben because of how stubborn they are. Biscuit has Holly’s personality so the two work well together, the same way a horse works with their rider. Both of them being stubborn does lead to internal conflict though.
Dave- on the outside, toons think that Dave hasn't changed. He's just a bit tense during his night shows for some reason, but its hardly noticeable unless you know him well. Dave is good at keeping Ben and Brian guessing as to what he's thinking, as while he's all nice to them they can sense malice emitting from him. He gets out his built-up fury through boxing practice and other such productive methods. His overdrive is a chill, lazy cat who loves and protects dave’s family as much as Dave does.
Flint- is quite similar to Misty in terms of how he copes honestly, but he had a harder time taming his overdrive because of how scared and closed off it acted towards him at first. Even after taming Bingus is relatively shy, but it’s very close with Mac (Graham’s overdrive). Flint is trying to keep both themselves and Graham afloat, who's taking it all much harder.
Chip- think Dave’s silent fury mixed with a fierce determination to put a stop to all the pain and destruction. His employees notice a positive change in personality (he was already having that happen after his override was disabled a while back for being too unstable), which makes it easier for him to get through each day. That and he has his partner Bubble to lean on (and plot revolution with).
Graham- NOT doing too hot. Imagine working so hard for a company by pushing yourself past your limits, only for it to turn around and make you into their pawn. It bruises his ego real bad, and what didnt help matters was that his overdrive was the hardest to tame. Both of them were confused, angry, and in despair. Graham can't wait to watch cogs.ink burn to the ground.

The “toon” next to Chip is named Bubblegum Pop, or Bubble for short
They’re a she/he/they shapeshifting balloon dog based toon from another dimension with character inspirations from bill cipher, pinkie pie, discord, and spinel
They sound like Spinel when fem presenting and Qbomb when masc presenting
Sad white boy plus manic pixie dream being combo
Collar around their neck keeps them from using their full powers in AUs where cogs.ink yoinked them before they could (potentially) yoink cogs.ink
Unlike bill cipher though they have a moral compass

Dave and Chip are references for my Overdrive AU!
-the black band above Dave’s watch is a shock device he's forced to wear since he's been given overdrive.
-the animal features of both of these cogs are retractable. Dave looks like a house cat but the spots on his body underneath his clothes show that he's Jaguar-esc instead. It’s why he's got such a strong jaw and limbs. Chip is a mix of Canadian elk and the extinct Irish elk. The bulbs on his head are detachable, but the way his head is built isn't specifically for them. His head has always been like this, he just never grew natural antlers so he has to attach them to his head. The bulbs are required for work, but outside of work he either wears them or antler shaped bulbs.

Name: Chime Biggs (Monarch)
Age: 2-4
Gender: little lass
Sexuality: too young to understand that, but later lesbian
Powers: right now it’s only charm abilities that work on those easily manipulated and a physically strong slightly venomous bite
Personality: curious, shy, kind, proper, smart, rule follower (most of the time). Things change when she gets older as she becomes older and develops her father Ben’s sociopathy, but unlike him she got proper treatment for it and she tries to be a good person instead of giving into the awfulness.
Backstory: the only child of Ben and Brian. The two waited on having kids as they had busy 20’s and 30’s, that and Brian didn't feel ready yet to live up to his mother’s expectations for him. Chime was commissioned the same way Gliss was, Ben being the one to activate her. Her name comes from how her head is actually a hollow bell that, when rattled, makes mini bell noises.
