54) You accidentally eat some radioactive vegetables. They were good, and what’s even cooler is that they endow you with the super-power of your choice! What is that power? Probably to slow down time – maybe I’m too much into the Flash and I’m just saying that because I really want more time to get stuff done – and it’s cool until you realize that the wifi doesn’t work as fast as you want it to. So I’d probably have the ability to teleport places instead, because at least I’d get to travel, right?

I finished this before Stories of Your Life but I got caught up with life and stuff that I forgot to write about it. I read this as an audiobook with the physical copy and I think that I… am better off without audiobooks. It was a less satisfying experience than breezing through all of it on my own. My internet is also on the fritz so this is on a Word doc until I post / edit to tumblr tomorrow morning (maybe).

The actual content was interesting – it’s the creation of Hamilton in narrative form, and it takes care to strengthen the parallel between US history / Hamilton’s life / current events. It’s obviously a must-read for any Hamilton trash and I think that it would be hard to read without significant familiarity with the musical. My parents don’t know Hamilton except for the fact that I think it’s my new phase, and I wouldn’t recommend they read this book before seeing the show (this June!)

I mean… I’m glad I read it, but it’s not as life-changing as the musical itself. I’m not saying it wasn’t well-made or well-designed, but after listening to the soundtrack so many times, I realize that I really just need a break before actually seeing it in San Francisco.
