Why we Cycle

In this video we explore what makes us want to cycle - and encourage you to start your own bicycle tour. It's possible!

Back in June and July of 2018, my girlfriend Belén and I cycled the famed 'Pamir Highway', through Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan. During our trip we met a tremendous amount of cyclists, who all had different reasons to be out there, and it inspired us to create this short film, highlighting why we cycle.

Gratis event / Reservatie verplicht Voor Nederlanders is fietsen zo gewoon als ademen. Ze denken er niet bij na, maar doen het gewoon. Wellicht is dat volgens de makers van deze ducumentaire ook een sleutel tot het fietssucces in hun land. Maar het is ook een potentiële bedreiging. Omdat ze er niet bij stilstaan, aldus de makers, beseffen ze niet wat de diepere behoeftes van fietsers zijn. In de film wordt meegereden met gewone fietsers en verschillende vakspecialisten. De gesprekken leveren soms voor de hand liggende en soms meer verborgen effecten van fietsen op mensen, samenlevingen en de maatschappij op. “Stel je eens voor hoe we fietsen anders zouden benaderen als we het echt zouden snappen!”, zeggen de makers. 'Why We Cycle' laat zien hoe mooi en fijn fietsen kan zijn.
