If only I could tell the younger me how everything in her life will change, how the journey is going to be longer than expected but her dreams and desires are still within reach even though they may seem so far away. I wish I could tell her that the joy she had back then would remain but it’ll look completely different. ✨It was the summer of love, A delicate daydream✨ It’s truly been one of the most chaotic yet exciting summers celebrating love with 6 weddings in real life & streaming 2 online this year. It’s such a beauty to witness tons of my friends not only meet the love of their lives but seeing how their partners bring out the best in each other in every way. (Such goals 🥲) It’s been a huge honor partaking in these celebrations & continuing to see their relationship blossom into their awe-inspiring marriages. ✨It’s a brand new day, New in every way, Let the good times roll, It’s a brand new start, Open up your heart, Let it move your soul ✨ There’s something so refreshing about the joy & hope that newness brings. Everyday felt like an adventure in Disneyland Paris, whether it’s exploring new sights, trying new snacks/cuisines & screaming on rides I’ve never been before. This trip really signified multiple new beginnings, a reminder that you can heal from your past & joy will overtake all the sadness that was once there before. It’s being able to open up your heart again to new experiences & not building a wall within. As hard as it can be, it’s truly, deeply believing that things will get better 🥹 When you reach your mountaintop moment in life, not only do you get an amazing view but you’re able to enjoy all the different angles when you get there. It’s crazy how sometimes you become so familiar yet estranged to new beginnings, it’s the alluring excitement of the unknown like teaser trailers of the next blockbuster film of your life, gradually building up the excitement & hope with a hint of nervousness of what’s coming next. ✨ 2021, you were something. It’s been a year of endurance that was being tested in more ways than one. Most of the time we never mention what happens behind the scenes when we endure certain things in life that requires so much patience, strength & where we find ourselves fighting daily to not give up. Endurance entails weariness, challenging us to pivot when things don’t work out or meet the expectations that we had hoped for. The emotional & mental exhaustion to recalibrate & to pick yourself up again forces you to rest. It places you in a space of tiredness that wears you down, trying to make sense of it all as you attempt to keep moving forward. “I thought this was going to be it” or “this was so close, how am I feeling so stuck?” causes a distinctive grief figuring out what went wrong. The “almosts but not quites” are significant reminders that your dreams & desires are within reach but it might just be a “not yet” or “not now”. It’s a hard pill to swallow. There are moments when Hope feels elusive & no where to be found in the journey of finding the next steps in getting there. It’s hard to even believe “the best is yet to come” when scars of disappointments & tiredness have creeped in, haunting & tarnishing the things you’ve longed for to come to pass. The reality of “almosts but not quites” are filled with silent tears & unspoken strength needed to carry you forward. Behind closed doors of countless prayers, sleepless nights, anxieties, worries whilst trying to believe & having an ounce of faith that it’ll come sooner than later seemed further in reach than expected. The patience and grace to step back & reset, when every part of you is aching & trying to make sense of it all. With every step requires healing and remembering that not everything can work in our ideal ways or plans but clinging onto God’s words, truths and promises, that He has something greater that meets the eye but we just haven’t seen it yet. To believe that something good is coming from this. • 2018 VS 2020 • I remember taking a leap of faith as I re-entered into the Uk back in 2018. It’s truly been a full circle moment, seeing my beautiful best friends/close friends during this annual leave. It’s an end of an era! Seeing how far and how much our journeys have changed throughout the years. Reflecting on how truly precious those adventures were and how incredibly humble those beginnings were. These gems took me in when I had no where to go as I navigated the Uk waters as a young adult. Despite having moments of feeling incredibly lost, tackling loneliness head on and finding my feet. Somehow, after everything, we’ve all had major upgrades in our lives and have massive, transformative changes, leading into new seasons and roads up ahead. Throughout these years, these gems have remained consistent in my life, and I’m forever grateful as anyone would be blessed to befriend them. Heading back to Brighton this time was different from the rest. Whether it’s tainted memories or realizing that sometimes when things in life don’t work out, it’s truly for the better. It usually takes ages for us to realise or to see why things didn’t work out but that’s the best part. If things worked out the way we had hoped for, life wouldn’t be as exciting. We would’ve settled for less than what we deserve or lowering our standards instead of awaiting for God’s best. It’s when you’re having these precious moments in solitude, gazing at the sunset with the salty sea air and breeze as you hear the waves crash onto the shore. The surreal peace that overtakes you and you’ve come to the place of accepting that “it is what it is” and that moment when you’ve realized you’ve let go of what was...ages ago. It’s where peace and acceptance meet in that intersection and everything in you feels free and relieved. So here’s to all the rejections, redirections and for things not working out cus I’ve never been more thankful in my life for those “no’s” or for those “would’ve, could’ve, IF’s”. I needed to lose you to find me. During transitional times, it’s when these words start ringing in our ears: things are “almost but not quite”. Whether it’s a new home, promotion, career, relationships, dreams, desires, opportunities that were all within reach and things were so utterly close but they left you immensely disappointed that things didn’t work out the way you had hoped for. It makes you wonder and question that it may never happen or you were too naive to begin to believe in it, in the first place. I’ve realized more and more it’s that in these “almost but not quite’s” is not to be dismissive that it won’t happen at all but more of: it’s just not the right time or the right one for you but it WILL HAPPEN & WHEN (not if), WHEN it happens, you’ll soon realize that it’s for the better and you’ll look back and understand why it wouldn’t have worked before. So take your time and grieve/wallow in these disappointments but DON’T LOSE HOPE! Just because something hasn’t happened yet doesn’t mean it won’t! When it’s right, it’ll all fall into place and you’ll be in awe of the outcome. Honestly sometimes it feels like God is teasing/messing with you.
