tighnari saying cyno and sethos are like brothers at the end of this quest... cyno really is collecting siblings like pokemon. good for him!!
Yeeeessss!!
In my HC, Cyno put a lot of attention in family.
Firstly because Cyrus was his only one family when he was a kid with amnesia, but also he grown up with Lisa as colleague under the same professor, but both of them consider Cyrus as a parental figure : without saying anything, a link it made of brother/sister. Cyno never knows his family by blood, and I think he was curious once. But he is satisfy with his current family ! And for him, family doesn't need to blood related. And if I remember well, Cyno said (during Windblum event, EVENT EXTREMELY IMPORTANT FOR ME đđ«¶) something like it is pretty current people in Akademiya becomes a family for study. It was his case ! Cyrus becomes his dad figure, Lisa, her senior, is like a big sister (I wouldn't never forget when she calls him little brother/baby brother) (AND HAPPY BIRTHDAY LISA !!! <3). And when in windblum Cyno came visited Lisa, during their conversation, Cyno is the one mentionning the family bond she has with Cyrus "you are also part of the family, Lisa. It is normal for a daughter to talk like his father" (*CRYING*)! It sounds a tiny detail but I feel like this is so important for him.
Then came Tighnari, aka the first friend he had ever ! (I am a bit lost in chronology tho. In Tighnari's backsto, we learn they met when Cyno was already the general mahamatra while Tighnari was a student new-ly popular. But in Cyno's quest, we learn that they were student when they met ?? So Cyno was student and General ? đ€ welp, I am still unsure but now I include it in my HC/brainrot kskdkd). And also Collei ! Collei is a bit more complicated, in term that she wasn't comfortable around him for a long time being. But even when she wasn't comfortable around him at first, she still gave him a bookmark handmade during windblum and saying he is like a family for him (I AM ON THE FLOOR). Tighnari and Cyno both consider Collei like a little sister, and bahaha when they "fight" about "who is the older one" and tighnari don't want to admit this loser being the older oh gosh i love theeeeeeem (I will never recover from "oh yeah but you're younger in your head, Collei could be your big sis !" "I wouldn't never say I am the youngest !!! Except if it is for an opportunity for winning TCG by shocking my opponent.." cyno you are so real). But during this windblum event again, Cyno said something like "you know Collei, tighnari said we are not an akademiya family, and he doesn't want to work on a post together" and this is SUPER IMPORTANT because for Cyno, as you can see earlier, only had family by study (Cyrus, Lisa). He worked, studied and published with his father and Lisa. And also, he did homework with Tighnari that he considers like a brother in soul. But the fact he was "refused" to do work with Collei and him, kind of make him feel to tell Collei "yeah we r family but, tighnari... ):"
As Tighnari answered "You know, we can consider ourself as a normal family" AND THAT'S SOSO IMPORTANT. In my HC, Tighnari is the one in group having a "good family" (not in sumeru cast, I believe it is Nilou who has the healthiest family). He knows what a family is supposed to, he grew up with parents who teach him a lot of thing and he explored with them. Anyway Tighnari is a healthy kid, he knows that they don't need to work on a project together to be a family. Oh and that's also why I HC him Aromantic, AroAce persons value platonic and familyship a lot more than romantic, so he doesn't know mind that Collei and Cyno who are not blood related to him are like a true family for him !
(Before continue, I want to talk his bond with Collei ; I believe he can relates on how Collei suffered from the seal, because Cyno who might forget his past, he remembers the pain. That's how in Tighnari's voiceline, Cyno often check how Collei is going w/o her noticing. Even when Collei was aware of Cyno and under Tighnari care, he was ready to help her. And in the first story quest, Tighnari said that she still awares of him. I wonder how often they talk abt Collei !! I am sure Cyno shares to Tighnari how much he woud like to get along with her, and that's how Tighnari gives him opportunity like this one official art when in description Tighnari said "I asked Collei to bring Cyno")
And so, that's how in Cyno's quest we were able to see all his closest friends. Tighnari Collei Kaveh Alhaitham Candace Dehya Faruzan (and Traveler). Everyone was worried for him, was wishing to help him, and was here for him. And Cyno also noticed he is less alone (GOOD FOR HIM). And now, there is Sethos, a man coming from nowhere in this life, but an important man ; they didn't spend life together but they can feel a deep connection bcuz of both of their backstory. Sethos might be the closest to understand all his doubt a long time ago (and Cyno IS the closest person for Sethos to relate). And IN CYNO'S VOICELINE ABOUT SETHOS "Aren't we his best friends of whole Sumeru city ?! đ" Cyno pulled the power of friendship and adopt him in his big family circle.
ANYWAY WOW IT IS ONLY 8AM AND I AM HERE ALREADY YAPPING ABOUT CYNO BAHAHAHA
But genshin impact is for me more family impact that anything đ 𫶠(and that's also why I am stuck with sumeru while FONTAINE AND THE HOUSE OF HEARTH ARE JUST RIGHT HERE ?!?!) after all, we are playing a traveler who is searching their twin !
Thank you for reading my talk, anon
#reply#I feel embarassed everytime I do a long text because I know there is mistake but I am lazy to look at it#âso abt cyno..â and for an hour I will talk about them.#cyno is my comfort character as you can see KGBSKGKS#i am less into deep lore and theory even if I try#but my attachment to him manifest on how I analyse his feeling/reaction to something#and I love it when he talks in game and it matches my interpretation#bUT THAT'S ALSO I AM STILL SHOCK ABT THE FACT HE WAS STUDENT WHEN HE MET TIGHNARI ????#it is not a bad thing but I clearly didn't expect that since in my head he was already a general who already graduated#that's the only thing I didn't expect and it disturb me in sense of âoh weird do i need to change my perception?â#it is hard to explain#glad I am flexible with my point of view tho haha

Misplaced Love Letters // CynoNari
Fandom: Genshin Impact Ship: CynoNari
Summary: Tighnari takes over Miss. Hinaâs advice column for the week. He reads a letter and doesnât know how to reply. âI am in love with my best friend. Should I confess to him?â (CynoNari, Modern AU)
âTighnari, the way you phrased your advice is too blunt. Even if youâre correct, the reader will feel as though youâre judging them and they wonât listen to anything you suggest. It will also discourage others from writing to Miss. Hina. Maybe you should soften your tone.â Gorou slid the letter back to Tighnari. He sorted through the envelopes and picked one at random. âHere, try writing advice for this one. Imagine youâre giving advice to one of your students.â
âThese letters are strangers to me and itâll be disrespectful to treat them like children.â Tighnari sighed and tore the advice from his notebook to a new page. When Gorou asked him to write as Miss. Hina for the week, Tighnari agreed to help. He now questioned whether he was fit for the job. âItâs easier to tailor advice to my students because I know their strengths, weaknesses and where they need to improve. Iâm happy to help but Iâm curious why you chose me. Most consider me too harsh.â
âCyno recommended you.â The simple sound of his name made Tighnariâs heart quicken. Gorou didnât notice the slight change in Tighnariâs expression and added: âHe said that you help his sister and gave her good advice. Thereâs no one he trusts more than you. The General Mahamatra doesnât give such praise often so you mustâve left a good impression on him.â
âYouâre exaggerating, Gorou.â Tighnari knew that Gorou used Cynoâs nickname as lighthearted teasing. Nevertheless, he found himself defending him. âHe might seem like a recluse in school but most law students have a terrible social life. If I wasnât Colleiâs tutor, we wouldnât have spent so much time together and become friends.â
He still felt uncertain about whether he could give advice as Miss. Hina but he would try. Tighnari didnât want to betray the trust Cyno had in him. The opinion of others never mattered to him before but Cyno was different. He picked another letter from the pile and flicked his thumb over his pen. His resolve was immediately challenged when he read the letter.
I am in love with my best friend. Should I confess to him?
The short, two sentence letter caught Tighnari off guard. He had to wonder if the Archons were mocking him. Should I tell my best friend how I feel? Tighnari asked that same question to himself countless times over the past year. Despite that, he still didnât have an answer. Cynoâs subtle smile appeared in his mind.
The letter didnât reveal much of the personâs situation yet Tighnari understood all too well. The present and unknown future tugged at Tighnariâs heart: the reassuring comfort of his familiar friendship and the longing for his loving touch. If he confessed, he could possibly lose both. Should he risk everything they built together when he wasnât certain that Cyno felt the same?
A part of him knew that he was projecting his own situation onto the letter. Tighnari tapped his ten against a blank sheet of paper. Minutes passed without him writing a reply. Miss. Hina could easily encourage the person to confess. The best relationships start as a friendship where they can grow together. There was a chance that their friend felt the same. The words sounded hollow to Tighnari. How could he give someone advice that he couldnât follow himself?
âTighnari, are you okay?â Gorou pulled him out of his thoughts.
He quickly smiled so he wouldnât worry him. âIâm not the best at giving romantic advice. Maybe I should start with the letters asking for agriculture advice.â
The letter lingered in Tighnariâs mind after he left the library. He studied the words as he made his way to Cynoâs home. He walked the path many times before and he didnât need to take his eyes off the letter. Tighnari traced his thumb over the green stationery paper and pondered over an answer. The floral design of the paper and rough texture was easily recognizable to him.
He began to cross the street but he was suddenly pulled to a stop. An arm wrapped around his waist and forced him to stumble to a stop. He lost his balance and fell backwards. He didnât try to catch himself and allowed the person to steady him. From their familiar footsteps, Tighnari immediately recognized Cyno behind him.
âItâs dangerous to walk down the street with your nose in a book. You might get hurt by being distracted.â Cyno said. Tighnari tilted his head back and his tall ears blocked his vision. Despite that, Cyno didnât mind. His hair was soft and had the subtle scent of flowers. When he gently brushed his ear aside, he noticed Tighnari hide a slip of paper in his pocket.
âIâm not a child who needs their hand held when crossing the street, Cyno. I can hear a car miles away.â Tighnari prided himself on being independent but his heart still fluttered when he saw the concern in Cynoâs eyes. He could easily become lost in the red sunset that his eyes held. He forced himself to look away and walked forward. Cyno fell into step beside him and Tighnari glanced at their hands. He wondered how he would react if he tried to hold it.
âAre you here to drop off homework for Collei? She went to the mall with Amber and Sucrose. Iâll put the worksheets on her desk for you.â Cyno offered. Earlier, he was surprised to find Tighnari in front of his house. He had cancelled his tutor session with Collei because he needed to work with Gorou for his project. He didnât tell him the details so Cyno assumed he would be busy all day.
âActually, I wanted to see you, Cyno. Can we talk inside?â In answer, Cyno held the door open for Tighnari. They often spent time together after tutoring Collei but something in Tighnariâs voice caught his attention. He wondered what he wanted to speak with him about.
Tighnari walked into the living room and collapsed onto the couch. They had spent so much time together in his home that he naturally relaxed. As if the house were his own home, he dropped his satchell next to him and draped his tail onto his lap. He closed his eyes and let out a long sigh. There was a furrow between his brows and Cyno wondered if something happened with Gorou.
The light sting of cold glass against his cheek startled Tighnari and he opened his eyes. Cyno held a glass of water next to him and the simple gesture made him smile. He was attentive and thoughtful yet he never brought attention to those small acts of kindness. He couldnât help feeling happy and prideful that he was able to see this side of him.
âThanks, Cyno. Iâm fine.â Tighnari reassured him and took the cup. When Cyno settled into the spot beside him, he draped his tail over his lap. He combed his fingers through his green fur and a light hum escaped him. He quickly covered his mouth and glanced at Cyno in the corner of his eyes. Cyno continued to pet his tail silently and Tighnari was relieved he hadnât heard his pur.
He took out the letter from his pocket and placed it on his tail. Cynoâs hand suddenly froze and became tense. Tighnari assumed that he merely paused to read the letter. âI told you that I was going to help Gorou today. He asked me to take over the Miss. Hina advice column. I didnât tell you because Gorou asked me to keep it a secret. Then, I opened this letter. I need to talk to you about it.â
âI⊠Tighnari, I⊠Youâre my besââ
âI know Collei wrote this letter to Miss. Hina. This stationery paper is the same as the one she used for the Forest Rangerâs charity posters.â
The first time Tighnari read the letter, the question of whether they should confess to their best friend filled him with mixed emotions. He didnât recognize the design of the paper until he left the library. Tighnari didnât have an answer but he wanted to encourage Collei. He considered her to be his little sister and she should pursue happiness.
He turned to Cyno and waited for his reply. His lips parted a few times yet no words came to him. Tighnari smiled softly and lightly nudged his shoulder against his. âThe letter took me by surprise too. I didnât know she was interested in dating yet. Did she talk to you about anything? It could help me write the best advice for her.â
âSometimes, it feels like sheâs too afraid to ask me for advice. My love life â or lack thereof â would give her less reason to come to me for help.â He forced out a small laugh to hide the panic rising in him. Cyno couldnât take his eyes off the familiar paper. His mind raced for an excuse to avoid facing the letter. âI donât think I can help.â
Usually, he would be happy to help Tighnari. The letter was different. For a brief moment, he considered taking it from Tighnari and burning it. He was grateful that Tighnari misunderstood the situation and assumed that Collei wrote it.
Cyno was the one to write the letter.
âCollei looks up to you.â He placed his hand over Cynoâs and tenderly squeezed his fingers. Tighnari wanted to feel his warmth against his skin longer but he forced himself to let him go. He worried that Cyno would realize how he felt if he became too greedy. Despite that thought, he asked: âWould you confess to your best friend if you had feelings for them?â
âIf the friend doesnât feel the same, confessing will end their friendship. The other person might continue to be their friend but it will always be in the back of their mind⊠for both of them. Itâll become awkward and strange. One will be left hoping for something they know they canât have and the other will be guilty for hurting them. Itâs better to not change a relationship where weâre both happy already.â
âYou can be happy with someone and hope for something more with them.â The argument rushed out of him in a hush whispered. Tighnari bit his lip against the words he held back for months. He glanced back at Cyno and studied his expression. If he heard him, he would realize that he wanted to answer the letter for himself as much as itâll help Collei.
âYouâre my best friend, Nari. I donât know what Iâll do if I ever lost you. I wouldnât be able to eat your mushroom hodgepodge, play TCG with you or hear your plant facts.â Even sitting next to Tighnari as they were now was special to Cyno. He made each moment feel more significant. âIs confessing worth the risk of losing all that? Thatâs the question Collei is actually asking in her letter.â
âSo, what advice should Miss. Hina write for this letter?â
The few minutes it took for him to reply felt like an hour for Tighnari. His heart was beating in his ears and it almost drowned out Cynoâs response. âShe should wait until sheâs certain. Maybe her friend will confess first. Itâs better to stay friends for now.â
The paper became crumpled in Tighnariâs hand. He didnât realize that his hands tightened into fists until Cyno gently eased the letter from his fingers. Yearning and heartbreak formed a lump in his throat and he couldnât swallow it as he did before. The answer that he had been dreading was all but words written in front of him. Cyno would insist they remain friends if he confessed to him.
The only blessing of the rejection was that Cyno didnât know how he felt. He could continue to have Cyno in his life without pushing him away with his unrequited love. Tighnari desperately repeated that to himself to drown out the sound of his own heart breaking.
âAre you okay, Tighnari? You look pale.â Cyno placed his hand on his cheek so he could tilt his gaze to him. The concern in his eyes touched Tighnari earlier. Now, it reminded him of everything he yearned for yet couldnât have. Tighnari could only blame himself for the heartache he felt. When he decided to show the letter to Cyno, he had hoped that he would confess to him.
âIâm such an idiot. I shouldnât have told you about this letter.â
Hurt passed over Cynoâs face and he let him go. âIâm sorry. Was that bad advice? Iâm not good with romance or feelings. You should write a better reply.â
âItâs not you.â Tighnari instinctively reached out to comfort him. The hurt in Cynoâs red eyes was more painful to him. However, he couldnât reassure him by explaining the reason he regretted giving him the letter. The only thing he could do was take his hand and tangle their fingers together. He leaned forward and hid his face in his strong shoulder. Without thinking, he muttered: âIâm the fool who fell in love with my best friend.â
