one time i was at a baseball game and my friend got SUPER drunk and was going through my phone. and she was like, your dating app photos suck you need better photos for tinder. i can fix you, get up. and took a bunch of photos of me at the giants game from the upper deck. i look great bc i was laughing at her the entire time. but when i tell you i have used those photos as professional headshots for public facing work--

#youtube#agreed#I too play so many indie games#it lacked authenticity and I do feel bad for developers#concept and execution of the art was ill balanced /clashed#a game too late to an oversaturated market#do better#selling to consumers means making a good product despite any politics#I am incredibly liberal and it is sad to see the discourse about this#but I don't think that is the source of why it is so bad as a game#the liberal audience including myself did not find this game memorable#this will probably be studied for a while#will be fun in one of my MBA classes to deep dive#my instant thoughts was that this looked like a bad mashup of overly bright color values that resembled moebius and guardians of the galaxy#gaming#thoughts in my hashtags#wish this was better and I feel for the developers but it is a lesson learned for the gaming industry

god. sometimes i really hate those "10 jobs that you can do WITHOUT a qualification that pay over 100k" and they list something like "human resource management" 130k a year!!! when like. EVERY fucking HR job (and other jobs like this, say like librarian- something that i PAID 17k for and burnt out for in postgrad lmao) strictly DEMAND that candidates must have 1-2 years experience AND an HR DEGREE.
very, very, very, very rarely i see something in HR requiring a TAFE (aussie technical college) certificate (ie MUCH cheaper- 7k) or a diploma in HR. it's almost always a degree, barely EVER "no quals or equivalent experience or similar quals"... even for entry level jobs in hr or most defs management positions.

Guy gets off the elevator across from my office looking confused, so I ask him who he's looking for.
"I work downstairs for [government agency] and I'm retiring this year. I want to talk to someone about lecturing."
I explain that no one on this floor has anything to do with teaching, postings go up online, and our lecturers are unionized.
He's still not getting it, so I ask him what field he's in, thinking maybe I can explain how to search that field on our job postings website.
"I have an MBA. I think I'll just walk over to the business college and talk to the dean."

genuinely starting to wonder if tumblr could've reached financial stability already if they didn't invest time and resources into developing and distributing features that literally nobody asked for and instead focused on garnering goodwill from the existing userbase so that they'd be comfortable giving money to the website
#and just as a side note#i don't think the 'tumblr is too difficult for new users to understand' is a real issue#just give new users a quick tutorial on the basic functions and let them know that it takes some time to curate their dash to their liking#i think it's once again MBA chumps thinking people won't do anything unless they get instant gratification#conveniently ignoring global successes like Minecraft#also starting to wonder if MBAs hold this preconception abt others because it's true about themselves#it's hard for me to see why you'd choose the money making major if you had incentives other than the external gratification of making money#it just seems impossible to fathom the idea that people do things purely because they enjoy doing it#there's this sense of exploration that curating your own dash provides#an experience that lies beyond the consumption itself#staff#tumblr
