the part where i give up on coming up with ideas by myself

i'm probably going to post a roz x vontra fanfiction on ao3 eventually. I don't want to draw them too off model so they start losing their robot-ness. I freaking love yuri but I also enjoy keeping a sort of believableness in characterizations that I depict. not always of course, i also love making OOC content. but as someone who has always enjoyed villain/hero, in the beginning stages of a ship i like to stay somewhat within their original dynamic. any suggestions for scenarios that would lend well to a oneshot fic are welcome, i can write but slowburn 50k words are not within my current capabilities (still a college student/employee). also ideas for specific drawings are welcome here and in my inbox. i think i still have anon asks turned on but it's been years so let me know if i don't and i'll relearn how to change that. going to bed now, this post won't be staying up and if nobody sees this then i'll just think of something myself, but i always like hearing from ppl that might ship my fav obscure ship.

god. sometimes i really hate those "10 jobs that you can do WITHOUT a qualification that pay over 100k" and they list something like "human resource management" 130k a year!!! when like. EVERY fucking HR job (and other jobs like this, say like librarian- something that i PAID 17k for and burnt out for in postgrad lmao) strictly DEMAND that candidates must have 1-2 years experience AND an HR DEGREE.

very, very, very, very rarely i see something in HR requiring a TAFE (aussie technical college) certificate (ie MUCH cheaper- 7k) or a diploma in HR. it's almost always a degree, barely EVER "no quals or equivalent experience or similar quals"... even for entry level jobs in hr or most defs management positions.

Guy gets off the elevator across from my office looking confused, so I ask him who he's looking for.

"I work downstairs for [government agency] and I'm retiring this year. I want to talk to someone about lecturing."

I explain that no one on this floor has anything to do with teaching, postings go up online, and our lecturers are unionized.

He's still not getting it, so I ask him what field he's in, thinking maybe I can explain how to search that field on our job postings website.

"I have an MBA. I think I'll just walk over to the business college and talk to the dean."

This moment, for me, encapsulates just how badly the Disney execs missed the mark.

Because the magic of LARPing is in committing to the bit, and the moments of inspired improv that arise from that (and I count the water dish as inspired even if it wasn't the individual server who came up with the idea, because that means that somewhere in the brainstorming process it was proposed and agreed that servers do this for all guests with character plushies and that too would be brilliant - that would be the Disney magic working as it should).

But that means really relying on your front-line workers - hiring them in sufficient numbers, supporting them with in-depth training, listening to their feedback, and trusting them to respond well to both the expected and the unexpected. There's some risk to all that - so, for corporate types concerned with ensuring everyone's experience is easily replicable and completely brand-approved, I understand the temptation to rely heavily instead on scripted character moments, basic arcade games, and pre-programmed text prompts in an app.

But that is SO not what they said they were selling. And having watched the various Disney suits breathlessly hyping the interactivity and the IMMERSION and the range of opportunities for making choices and having an impact on game play - and seeing that all turn out to be *checks notes* scanning QR codes on crates ... kudos to Jenny for the fantastic marketing montage but OMG that was excruciating to watch.

Even if the world can be benumbed, cold, and stingy, it's adorable that an employee brought out a little water dish for Jenny's plushie Skippy with the standard drinks. Be the bit of magic you want to see in the world.
