still boggles my mind that in the year 2024 most players still ignore anora's character just to reduce her to a lying backstabber, when she only goes against you if:

you reveal her identity to ser cautherine and howe's soldiers, defeating the entire purpose of her disguise and also ignoring what she told you literally one minute before about how they can't know she's escaping with you - thereby betraying her first

you ignore her completely in denerim after she asks you to come talk to her, and only show up to the landsmeet

you bring up loghain's fate, and when she tells you that she would rather him be spared if possible, you tell her to her face that her father has to die

tbh i think dnp moving away from gaming content is for the best, as much as i love their gaming vids, cuz i feel like gaming as a hobby for them doesnt always fit with gaming as content. like on the channel they just play whatevers popular and they still have a good time with it but they're never gonna sit down and play games they actually wanna sink hours into, or if they do it's very rare (see: beginning of undertale dan being like "tbh i kinda wanted to just enjoy this game for myself") like we're not gonna see the dan gw2 raids or the phil apex ranked videos lmao cuz that wouldnt make for good content in the format they do things. which makes me sad cuz like. id watch dnp play ffxiv and eldin ring :( but bc those are games they enjoy for themselves but they know that not all of their audience is clamoring for, they dont wanna blend it into the work bucket of games.

Out of pure curiosity I started playing ikemen revolution since I'm playing cybirds other games and I just learned that the game has been shut down ? I have only read the prologue so far and chapter one of lancelots route, I don't plan to Uninstall the game any time soon whatsoever since i already like it a lot but the fact that it's not going to be updated anymore makes me so sad since it seems so interesting and intriguing:( the world building looks to be so good its such a pity

So I just got into Palia a little bit ago and I'm already hyperfixated omg I love it❤️

Going into it, I was just like "ok yeah free cozy farming game, but the characters and world are probably pretty surface level since it's a free game so I don't think I'll get attached but I'll still try it out"

And then I kept talking to the characters and increasing my relationships with them and lo and behold I started unlocking tragic backstory after tragic backstory😅😭 I genuinely did not expect such deep lore and character/world building for a FREE-to-play game but omg, I want to hug every single little gremlin in this game, they're all traumatized🥺❤️

I miss sincere storytelling. I miss it when writers wanted you to care about their characters, about their world. I miss when writer would take pains to show you the light of humanity even in the most dire of worlds. I miss it when writers.... Actually seemed to like the stories they wrote. I hate modern story telling. Making a mockery of the audience when they care about a character, about a world. When the people are depraved, vain, and selfish no matter their station. I wish the worlds of modern stories were worth saving. I wish I was allowed to care about characters, about the people and their struggles with out being talked down to. I want to love, I do not wish to despair.

Before we call anon rude because let’s see it from their perspective, imagine getting an entire feast to eat. That can be pretty hard to start with so much that’s going on, but if they start with one thing they know they’ll like (aka one character they like) that can be the start for them leaping to other characters to finish the story and the bigger story. I struggle the same way to start book series if I don’t have at least one character that drives me to read it, it’s all about what can be the hook to push them through. Sounds like the anon is neurodivergent (just a guess) so they might genuinely not see it as rude and see it as a solution to even play the game to start with.

Btw absolutely adore the game, the complex and rich characters making them all so unique is amazing. The art is so pleasing to the eyes I love it!! I’m waiting for it all to get out at once so I don’t get too impatient. Shae however interests me the most, which routes will have the most lore for them? Will there be routes that give more lore in general based on decisions you make or do they all share the same amount? (I mean general lore not just Shae lore)

Apologies; we are not trying to accuse any asker of being rude! We are simply explaining our perspective as the developers / are trying to broadly encourage folks to dip their toes into other areas of the story outside of the main route(s) they're interested in, especially considering some routes will be made available sooner than others, and these other routes will likely contain additional scenes/lore of everyone's fave(s) regardless! We want to give each main cast member an equal amount of love (and lore) regardless of their overall popularity, so our goal is not to tut-tut anyone for having strong preferences for one character over the others, but rather to explain that you may be surprised by how much *more* you learn about your preferred characters in the other routes. That's all!

For Shae... Well, they were a foot soldier for one of the worst periods of the War. Lore wise, any other story that touches on the War will likely have content relevant to them and their experiences. ^^

can we talk about the katniss/lucy gray parallels (or lack thereof) for a sec?

they're superficially the same, because of the things we talk about all the time: they're both female victors from 12. there are things that come with that culture and background -- the mockingjay, the plants, the songs. those similarities aren't so much between them as people, as individuals -- they're born of coming from the same culture. the most significant thing they share is their resilience; their spirit of resistance and rebellion. their defiance.

but really, all those things they share, only serve to demonstrate just how different they are as individuals (because personality is different from upbringing or values).

we parallel their sarcastic bows, but they're so so different. lucy gray is a performer mockingly curtseying and saying "kiss my ass", where katniss is a hunter who doesn't have time for this society bullcrap.

they both sing the hanging tree, but as i've ranted about, their renditions show how different they are: lucy gray, again, a performer with a spirit unbroken, loud and charming and sassing right to the capitol's face, daring them to defy her, daring them to look away. katniss, again, a hunter, quiet but unyielding, sparking rebellion under the capitol's nose.

they both won their games, but in such different ways. lucy gray charmed the snakes (both literal and in the form of one coriolanus snow), while katniss threw down with weaponry.

lucy gray said look at me, care about me. katniss said fight for me, fight with me.

and so what we see is that they are not at all the same person, but that's what's so important. because it's not just one person or one type of person that puts their foot down and rebels. we don't need a specific kind of Chosen One to light the spark -- anyone can.
