You’ve been accepted into San Franisco Art Institute’s Accelerator Program over the summer, which means you’ll be spending eight weeks on campus learning from the best the country has to offer. At the end of the course there’s an event where the artists enrolled get to showcase their work to industry professionals. It’s a way of being discovered, of taking your art to the next level.

David’s going to drive you up there next month. The two of you are going to spend a couple of days sightseeing before the program starts. He’s booked off a few weekends throughout the duration, made reservations at a hotel so you can spend a little time together in the city before you come home.

San Franisco is a dream that you never envisioned for yourself. When your professor had given you the application you didn’t think she was serious. It was a competitive program, it was unlikely you’d get a place even if you did apply so what was the point? It was David that changed your mind.

You see the path that this is taking. Jax is on parole for a weapons charge. If Stahl finds a witness that says he has a gun, they can get a warrant to search the clubhouse. Jax goes back to prison, the Sons do an investigation of their own. You’ll be the first place they look and what comes after that…

You don’t want David caught up in that crossfire.

“No.” You tell her and she sighs, setting the fidget spinner back in its rightful place before meeting your gaze.

“Fine.” She says reaching into her purse and removing a set of handcuffs. “I’m arresting you on conspiracy to commit vandalism.”

You couldn’t have been more surprised if she’d drew back her fist and punched you in the face. She snaps the bracelet on your wrist before turning you around to face the wall.

“A year ago you spraypainted a five foot dick on Jax Teller’s house, causing a crime spree that went on for weeks and cost the town thousands in property damage, anything over $400 dollars makes it federal. The charge comes with up to a year in jail, fines and restitution.” She tells you as she cinches the cuffs so tightly that they bite into your skin, already your fingertips are starting to tingle. “If that doesn’t stick I’m going to call your art school and that shitty little summer program in San Franisco and tell them your affiliated with a known, violent gang so that future you’ve been looking forward to you can kiss that goodbye.”

In that moment your entire world collapses. Everything you’ve worked so hard for, it’s gone in an instant.

“Tell me is Jax Teller really worth all this?” She asks you, her breath ghosting in your ear. There’s a purr in her voice as she presses up against you, she gets off on having all the power, you remember David telling you that when he described how fucked up their whole thing was.

Soooo after a lot of consideration, I decided to make a third rec list. This one will be for miscellaneous fics, which can mean anything from smaller Vox pairings to fics that are not strictly Radiostatic or VoxVal. You'll see what I mean.

I will keep updating this periodically as I read more fics, too, so feel free to check back every once and a while! I'll reblog it when I update it, plus make a note with the date at the top. Summary: Alastor interrupts Val and Vox's personal time to get his rut over and done with, and they're just going to have to deal with that.

Basically, Alastor and Val try to have a threesome, but they keep arguing, everyone's injuring each other trying to figure out the logistics, and nobody cares what Vox has to say about any of this.

Summary: Angel never expected Prince Charming to have a TV for a head, but when Vox kills Valentino and saves him from his abuse, well… Maybe Hell doesn’t have to be all that bad. With Val out of the way, everyone can have a happy ending. Angel’s safe, Charlie’s happy, and even Alastor finds love.

Hold Me Up by Sameko

Summary: Vox has been in and out of a relationship with Valentino for years. Always breaking up. Always coming back.

Then one night comes the definitive crack at the expense of one of Valentino's employees, to which Vox never paid much attention other than for shits and giggles.

One night, one word too many, might be enough to shift the perspectives of two people once strangers to each other.

Notes: Staticdust. Pretty bleak and dark at times, but so, SO good. Two broken people trying not to cut each other with their edges while also trying to help each other.

Summary: A man hopelessly in love with a monster, despite how much it hurts.

A person chained to a beast he can never escape, no matter how hard he tries.

Revelations in Technicolor by Awesome_Possum

Summary: Velvette had been dead for six years, part of The Vees for four, and fucking Vox for a little over two. They had a good thing going.

On one of their bi-weekly Vox-mandated movie nights, Valentino put a plan into motion and Velvette learned something new and surprising about her business partner and part-time sugar daddy that made a shocking amount of sense.

It ultimately ended up bringing The Vees closer and if Valentino claimed that was his intention all along, no one had any reason to believe him.

Notes: The Vees are a V and Vox is the hinge, so he's in a relationship with both Valentino and Velvette. Interesting headcanons for Vox's human life. :) (What is the ship name for Velvette/Vox again?)

System Shutdown by Swoolie

Summary: Taking a leaf from Alastor's book, Vox goes on a small break from everything.

He doesn't stick around long enough to see the chaos that ensues after his sudden disappearance.

Notes: This is tagged with both Radiostatic and Staticmoth. It's too early in the story to tell definitively which direction it's going to end up, so for now it's going to be on the Misc list. I'll probably move it when it becomes more clear what the main pairing will be.

Dapple Rose by The_Penny_Tails

Summary: Everyone always assumes the same thing about Alastor and Vox's relationship: That it's one-sided, that it's based on fixation, and that the reason for their falling out was due to the obsession turning into something that couldn't be controlled.

All of those assumptions are correct. The only problem is, everyone gets the 'who is obsessing over whom' part of the equation wrong.

When Vox and Valentino end up stuck at the hotel, suddenly the entire relationship between the radio and television is put on display, casting it and Alastor in an entirely different light.

re: Jim Butcher post and tags — Ye e e eah h h… I wanted to think it was just the character and that the narrative didn’t support it, because there were just enough times that other characters called the main character out on his b.s. that I thought: maybe? maybe there’s some self awareness?

Then a few things happened:

I stumbled across this post (and some related discussions that are forever lost to Xitter by this point):

I ended up interacting with Butcher on social media due to some closely overlapping/intersecting social circles (long story). 

anyway, after watching him only interact with a couple mutual friends whenever they posted anything social justice related, and only to whitesplain and mansplain and cissplain (etc) all over the place, repeatedly, despite very gentle and patient attempts at education and calling in…

……yeah I think the only reason the narrative seemed at times to not entirely support the misogyny was due to the (rather cool in many cases) women in his life* possibly giving feedback, and maybe due to sensitivity readers, rather than because of any awareness the author has internalized. *At the time. I don’t know how many of those women are still in his life at this point, but that’s unrelated gossip/speculation.

(I really hope this only sends once, because it’s given me 2 error messages now)

Yeah, I know that for my male friend recommending the books to me the in text call outs definitely made him be like, “See? The author is aware!” So I had to write a fuckin essay of bullet points to get him to understand and acknowledge the textual misogyny that was just baked in. The nail in the coffin is Murphy the “straight” woman checking out a naked werewolf lady and having no reaction to a jacked naked dude.

It’s been a hot minute since I’ve read them but I remember literally every woman is introduced on a fuckability scale- including his kids teenage daughter. There’s no plot relevant older women or anyone who’s not bangable hanging around the narrative. Lots of older dudes and mentors as long as they’re male.

He digs into native shit that tribes have asked white authors to never touch, turns a Jewish man into a crusader for Christ, and just generally doesn’t listen if any fans took issue with portrayals.

The bummer is that he is a skilled writer in terms of plot and pacing which is why I read several of them teeth gritted hoping things would improve.

When they didn’t I found the Harrietta Lee books which are a fun lesbian spoof on the Dresden Files that I quite enjoyed, and of course October Daye.

However, any time I try to word why I like this fic so much, I simply cannot. Also Seungmin is a nerd and we love him for it.

I really love the love that he finds not only in Minho, but in everyone around him. ♥

I had to take frequent breaks but it was difficult to make myself look away because I wanted to know what the hell was going on. I have never screamed so much at a fic before in my life. I cried at least six times and four of those were in the last 50k words.

I LOVE the author's storytelling style, the way they use angst in believable ways, and the way that they bring the characters together.

It's incredibly well-written, a lovely drop into a different setting than I'm used to, and devourable in a day. Will be following this author for a while!

I read this so quickly and when it was over, and the author's note popped up saying "and that's the end!" I had to check the % progress on my kindle. I would devour any further stories written about this story, but I am also okay with how it ended, and imagining what happens next.

This is for Verum II: The Robotic Era

What's the first part of your WIP that you created?

Since TRE is the second book of a series, the characters and rough world building had already been created before I started. I think I began with writing all my ideas down for the story line.

If your story was a TV show, what would the theme song/intro be?

It would definitely be a metal song. Maybe orchestral death metal mixed in with some cyber elements.

What are your favorite characters you've made? Why?

I think it's Dethra. He's very hot, funny and badass. At least to me. I just love big scary killer machines that could crush me in an instant, lol.

What other pieces of media do you think your fanbase would share?

Uhhhh… idk?

How do characters travel/get around?

Planes and cars. And of course they’ll also walk if their destination isn't too far.

What part of your WIP are you working on right now?

Currently I'm writing a part that is on the easier to digest and on the funnier side, since the last two were rather heavy. It's Luce, Dethra and Bluctro traveling to India. 

What aspects/tropes do you think will draw your audience in?

There's polyamory, fuckable robots and a fuckable alien… I think this is the first time that I say this, lol. It's also a little Dead Dove: Do Not Eat-y.

What are your hopes for your WIP?

I hope that I will gain some readers, since my first book isn't doing well (justified, it's bad as hell, lol). Having a fan base that loves my work, talks about the characters and eventually even makes fan art and fanfiction of it would be my absolute dream. But I doubt I'll get to that point any time soon.

You sighed annoyingly, as you looked around the room, taking another sip of the cheap wine in the glass you were holding in your hand. The room was way too big. The music way too loud. And there were way too many people. It smelled of alcohol, cigarettes and cheap perfume - the perfect mix for a classic High Rise worker's class party. Usually, you loved to go on those parties... Get wine drunk after a few hours, dance and party all night. Not today, though. Not since the last few parties. Not since you managed to fall in love with your neighbour and fuck buddy Robert Laing - the epitome of a British specimen. Tall and charming, with blonde-brown hair, stunning baby blue eyes and a physique to die for. Above all that, he was a wealthy doctor, wearing pristine, rich suits and expensive watches. Mix this all together and you got the most handsome, fuckable man around. That's what he was. Ask the women around and they will tell you exactly that. Quite a bit objectifying, right?

Not gonna lie, you weren't any different in the beginning. All you wanted from the sexy, just divorced doctor was to pin you against a nearby wall and have his way with you - and that's exactly what happened. More than once. Of course, he had other women beside you. Charlotte Melville, for example. The single mother, who lived with her son Toby in the apartment above him. You didn't have a problem with that - until feelings started to get involved. At some point it wasn't just sex anymore. It was love and both, you and Robert felt it. So, he stopped having adventures. You became the only woman for him. That didn't explain why you started to hate those parties, though. It wasn't like that Robert dragged you along against your will, oh no... You went on your free will. Why? To keep an eye on all those greedy, dressed to the hilt bitches, who had their eyes all over Robert and wanted to have their hands all over him as well. A few of them just couldn't accept that he was taken now. They ignored it - you and tried to get in his pants anyway. Robert didn't let them, of course. You trusted him, but nevertheless... The jealousy took over you way too often. That's why you started to hate those parties and felt so out of place, having to witness those pathetic disgusting tries of the women. Sure, you could stay at home and avoid it, but this wasn't better, was it? Yes, yes you were a very jealous person...

Robert was on the dancefloor, champagne glass in hands, living his best life. And then it happened... The things you were talking about... A woman in a very scarce, sparkling silver mini dress danced up on him, shamelessly grinding her ass against his crotch. You snorted out annoyed, feeling the anger course through your veins. Robert took a step back and avoided her second attempt, before tapping her on her shoulder, causing her to turn to face him. He said something to her. You couldn't tell what, of course. The music was way too loud and you were too far away. Out of earshot. The woman seemed to be disappointed at his words, tried obviously to argue with him, but Robert shook his head. Your boyfriend and the woman danced on - with some distance between them. After a few minutes, Robert emptied his glass, spoke to the woman again and made his way over to you then. The doctor wore a big smile, clearly enjoying this party, but when his eyes met yours and he saw how pissed you were, it vanished immediately. This had been the third woman this evening. "Darling, what got you looking so pissed?" He asked, was clearly a bit intoxicated. "Well, it's hard to keep my cool when other bitches tryna get with my dude." You snapped, causing realisation to dawn on him. "Shit, you saw it?" "'Course I saw it, Robert." He lowered his head. "I'm sorry, darling... You trust me, though? I'd never cheat on you." You scoffed, crossing your arms over your chest. "Of course I trust you... I know that you'd never cheat on me, 'cause you know that I'd cut your dick off, if you were going to do it." Robert chuckled, placing both his hands on your hips. "Very right, my love." "You know, it's just... I hate that they can accept that you're mine." "I know... We just have to show them how happy we are together." "Yeah?" "Yeah," Robert agreed, smiling seductively, "And how should we do that, baby?" his hands wandering lower and lower. "Oh, well, I've got a few ideas..."

I know this might come as a surprise but I don't live my life according to how "fuckable" I am.
