Link felt uncomfortable in his own skin. More so than normal, anyway. Zelda had said that his green tunics weren't appropriate for such a high ranking knight. Ray then said he had an idea, and first thing in the morning, Link woke up to find an outfit eerily similar to the Queen's hanging from his chair, just more... masculine. While he was happy that Ray didn't use the opportunity to try and put him in a dress, all the colors felt uncomfortable on him, and looked even worse to him.

Purple was apparently quite the rare dye to acquire. His tutor taught him that the secret of creating it was guarded jealously by a foreign power, so while Link appreciated the 'gift' on some level, he couldn't help but wonder if this was simply an outfit someone else had worn or if Ray had it made special for him. Neither set well with Link, so he tried to put it aside.
