I watched this vid with a guy explaining the parallels between encanto and one of his favourite books, 100 years of solitude. he explained that shit so beautifully and passionately, that I became a bit obsessed, watched a Ted animation about it (which further cemented my craze), immediately purchased the book after, binged the netflix version, and am now working my way through the book quicker than I've ever done before in my adult life (it arrived yesterday). how was I only just made aware of this beautiful piece of art. fuck my assignments, I've got *actually* important shit to do 🤧
Edit: the racism toward the end of the book squashed my excitement. I was enjoying it as a little sick, twisted piece of literature, but the unnecessarily racialised caricaturisation of *nigromanta* wasn't enjoyable to strain through. that's racist art. right at the end of the book as I was on a high, excited to finish (which I did, with a great sense of disenchantment) </3 like... why? do people really write about other "races" of ppl like that? that sucks. iykyk. Also, why does no-one talk about nigromanta? Didn't hear a peep about her. idk I still enjoyed the book, but I can't forgive it for that. and all the anger I squashed about how the other women were written - I've unsquashed it.👎🏾 men stay pissing me off. Idc if he (G.G.M.) was trying to do something, it was racist asf. She was not assigned 1 human quality, not even her name. 👎🏾👎🏾👎🏾 apparently its a play on the word necromante, but likeeee??? I mean yeah, she is in commune with a marked man. But it's clearly racialised and I don't like that.
#cien años de soledad#100 years of solitude#book version is much creepier than show#please if you know more books or shows like this tell me all about them#thanks#not the racism though#aureliano the last was written to be comp racist#even though it seemed they were friends with benefits#but that description of *nigromanta* made it fully racist#the fact that she was revealed to have had no value to him at all and therefore was written to be a black woman with a fucked up name#when their initial relationship was a friendship with a bit of physical attraction#why did the author have to take all humanity out of her SO BAD?#ik his main characters aren't saints so he doesnt have to have a sense of morality in everything he writes about them#but shit#i just dont get why she was written like that im angry now#im serious

Batfam X Neglected Reader ( Squid Games)
Creds to the dividers: (?)
The Winner Takes It All by ABBA
When do humans get so desperate they give up their own lives for that small chance of money?
Money is a category in your history class dedicated to why money is the basis of your life. Economy.
I first witnessed someone leave everything had for money, my mother. When I was 5, I didn't know why my mother was leaving the manor with a huge suitcase, filled with cash.
My mother engaged to Bruce Wayne who only allowed her in as they procreated me. In her words, both sides should take responsibility, it takes two to tango, and why should she be the only one to deal with the consequences.
Which now is very hypocritical as she ran away taking everything but me.
I didn't want sympathy, but I didn't want to be treated like dirt for a mistake I didn't make.
For the next 13 years of my life, I tried to stay on the down low, no matter how many dirty looks, and the insults, not even when Damian would hurt me.
I just hoped they wouldn't mind if I stayed with them a little longer until I could find a stable way to leave.
That hope burst when Alfred came to my room and told me “Master Bruce has decided to kick you out and disown you, I'm so sorry, [name].”
I tried to somehow make it, promising myself, it was going to be okay.
I got into college, and the debt collected from that was massive, so I had to go get loans at the bank, and then get into a part-time job, but every day seemed like we were always getting robbed. My manager had no choice but to let me go.
“I'm sorry, sugar, but we aren't pulling in enough customers and I can't afford to keep too many employees, there's no easy way to say this but, you have to quit. I don't want to fire you, it'd look bad for any job you'd apply for next.”
I held onto her hand like a lifeline I begged and pleaded with no avail.
I tucked my tail in and went to the Wayne manor.
"Um, It's [name], could I... um..." I swallowed my words, afraid to say them, I mean, this was humiliating, 13 years since I'd seen them and the first thing I asked for was cash? "... borrow some money."
No surprise I was rejected, but that didn't hurt me it was the comments, how I was so much like my mother.
I waddled to the train station, if I was lucky, the train wouldn't be hijack or filled with gas tonight.
"Hey, you want to earn some money?" A guy next to me.
"No, thank you."
"10,000 dollars. Just a child's game"
I lifted my head to stare at him. I couldn't see his face, hidden behind a mask.
"It's a Korean game, visited it a few days ago, so would you mind playing it with me?" He gave an authoritative vibe, it made me want to back away, his aura was sinister.
I had already hit rock bottom, what could be lower? I hesitantly nodded my head.
I don't know how many times I lost, but I finally did it!
Handing me the cash and then handing me this weird card.
"If you ever need more, contact us." with that he walked away.
Third POV
“B, are you sure this is the right spot?”
‘Positive. Are you sure you want to join on this mission, Dick.”
Despite what anyone might think Batman, otherwise known as Bruce Wayne cares and loves his kids.
Changing into suits and golden animal masks, they went to the VIP room, make some bets on random numbers.
Oracle was doing the background work, hacking into everything, it wasn't like the movies and the stress was on.
The court of Owls was not just one villain working but a cult that was not only wealthy but influential, with their own members, called Talons who were armed and ready.
On the screen 456 players appeared.
“Today, we have prepared the game red light, green light. A child game.” The frontman introduced the V.I.P’s at the start of the first round.
[name]’s POV:
Waking up, the clothes I was originally wearing changed into the tracksuit outfit with a number on it.
A person caught my eye, it’s Astro! From the law department, I couldn’t help but approach him.
“What are you doing here?” Word got around that he was an academic genius, and many had hope for his bright future.
I could only remember how fond his mother was when talking about him, I thought I saw her the other day working.
“Oh, [name]. It’s been a while hasn’t it? What are you doing here?” He dodged the question.
“I… couldn’t afford college and took out a loan, eventually I got a lot of debt.” Our conversation got cut short as we headed to this random room.
Going to this machine it said ‘smile’
I gave a gummy like smile before making my way to the field
Playing red light, green light.
After explaining the rules everyone started running, nothing was wrong until a person got spotted moving during the red light, poor guy, going home penniless after making it here-
Spat
Oh.
There’s blood on my shoes.
It was like a stampede of people running to the door, stacking on top of each other. I was frozen out of fear.
Wha-
What do I do?
I’m afraid.
Someone tell me, what do I do?!
Before I knew it, I made it to the end.
Third POV:
Thankfully no one found the bat family suspicious or they would’ve noticed how they tensed up seeing as their daughter/sibling had the first contestant’s blood splattered not only on her shoes but also on her clothes.
A break had ensued as the game was over and everyone made their way to their individual rooms.
“What are they doing there?!”
“Should we stop it now?!”
“How?!”
“Quiet down!” Bruce had stopped the panic, but in reality he, himself didn’t know what to do either.
[name]’s POV:
Going back to the room, I felt like a doll and everyone sat on the floor.
The sickening feeling of seeing the gold lighting illuminating the clear pig, with money dropping down into it.
I could feel my stomach drop just thinking about it.
I didn't know what was happening until Astro got up and rebutted the guards.
“Clause three, The games may be terminated upon a majority vote, right?”
Thankfully, ending this sick and twisted game.
That didn’t last long though as a day had passed and I was back in this building. I think everyone who left was.
I talked to new people, especially this one old man who reminded me of Alfred.
“I could say the same to you. You’re young, and your debt is lower than most people here, so why continue risking your life for this money?” I shook my head, my face holding a sad smile.
“No matter how hard I try I just keep gaining then losing debt. But it’s different for you sir. Doesn’t the government give insurance and medicare for the elderly?” I held his hands in mine.
“The government isn’t as nice as you think, corrupt up in their high-paying jobs, but still greedy for more.”
As the games ensued I could feel myself deteriorate.
Third POV
Gripping onto the couch arms, and bouncing off one's feet could symbolize when someone is... anxious.
Or it could be showing anticipation.
So let's pretend that's what Bruce Wayne is feeling right now.
And if we asked his opinion on number ###, [name] [lastname]...
Most people would think, "Yes, he must be anticipating her death, how the blood would splatter, whether it be from losing a game or betrayal from another contestant." That's what most people would think of that entire family.
How could you not?
They shamed her, bullied her, and scorned her away from their home.
Wouldn't even provide financial aid much less.
Isn't that why she's here in the first place?
It was like they wanted her to grovel and die, die a death that would have no meaning, not even to this unforgiving world.
However, you'd be shocked that's not correct.
Anxiety is a scary thing it makes you make rash decisions. Good or bad.
It was nothing new to these vigilantes.
But oh. seeing her tired eyes, sweat dripping down everywhere, from her head to her legs. Her trembling form.
If you didn't know the context you'd already think she was a corpse.
No! That's wouldn't couldn't be true.
They couldn't allow it to be, she was going to be safe.
She had to be.
She was forgotten, but now, everyone's eyes were on her.
Anxiety is a scary thing, and with the current event, situation, there was nothing they could do but hope for the best, bounce their legs, and grip the couch.
-
It’s time for the next game.
“For this game we’ll be playing the marble game.”
—
There will be 2 endings choose which one. (I'll be making both.)
-> Thank you… for playing with me.
-> Astro!

I feel like we don't discuss Nami's relationship with gender enough. Her entire character is so deeply informed by being a girl in a male-dominated pirate world and it's so interesting and so worth talking about.
The background creepiness of Bad pirate crews, which are most of them, how they tend to not have any female crew members at all, how they beckon any pretty young woman around to come play with them and join them. It's real bad. It's also like, a totally 2 dimensional portrayal of evil that is reserved for the most background of background characters.
However I think their ubiquity says a lot about how piracy is meant to be perceived by the public in One Piece, and is one of the strongest indicators of how prevalent misogyny is in-world.
It's very normal in One Piece for regular island inhabitants to have never met a Different class of pirate in their life. There's no reason for them to withhold judgement that maybe these pirates won't be like every crew that attacked before, and to wait and judge them by their actions. I mean frankly that would be irrationally weak self-preservation.
There are people who live peacefully under the flags of Yonkos who protect them, and feel loyalty and gratitude to them for it, but that seems to only be thing with very big name pirates. The East Blue, being the weakest and least populated, has no such plethora of powerful people and resulting turf wars.
So. Nami. Is very clearly implied to have never met any Different pirates before. I'm thinking about what that means. About how every group of pirates she stole from were creepy, dangerous men. How she started going out stealing when she was still a young child. How she didn't have a mother anymore to guide her or comfort her. How Arlong would grab her chin inappropriately, talk about her as a "human female", as property, and god knows what else.
How all the men in Arlong's crew treated her patronizingly, pretending they're all friends, teasing her and playing at respect when really not a single one of them ever stuck up for her or hesitated to accuse her of betrayal. Who were always ready to kill her if she refused to cooperate. Who grabbed her and intimidated her when they felt like it.
That's what she had to come back to after a close call with stealing from other predatory men, instead of the relief of home there was a dark, cramped room filled with endless hours of misery and isolation and blood. Where any one of her captors could barge in and demand new maps, work faster, where did you go, you took too long again this time. Endless threats and incursions.
I'm thinking about that her fight scene in Alabasta, where she tumbles and rips off her cape and uses it to catch her enemy's spikes, before leaping to her feet and running out the back door, all in one moment. How it makes her enemy reconsider her and think, "so the girl's not a total novice at fighting after all." What that implies about her experiences as a young thief. The times she wasn't fast or clever enough and had to fight and claw her way out. Why she always carried a staff and a knife. Why she was the only one before Chopper who had any medical knowledge or experience.
You know she was stitching herself up. And the weapons, how do you think she learned to use those? If any of the Arlong Pirates helped her it wasn't out of kindness and it wasn't gentle.
Then I think about Nojiko, and Bellemere's memory, and the only softness in a hard life. How easily Nami connects to every young woman experiencing hardship that she meets. How completely she dismisses the struggles of men unless they mean something to her and are going through something terrible. The way that Nami only has sympathy for women and children is easily noticeable in-text, but it's also something confirmed in those words by the author. And it's clearly because of the life she lived, the men who had all the power and only abused it, who saw her as nothing but a girl to take advantage of, without anyone aside from her sister clearly knowing and caring about any of it.
Nami clearly isn't bitter, she doesn't think the world owes her recompense, on the contrary she knows she is far from the only person in the world to suffer the things she has suffered. She is endlessly reaching out and kind, but only to those that she isn't sure would get help without her. Certainly, before Luffy, Usopp, and Zoro, no man ever reached out a hand to her without an ulterior motive.
I think when she sees a girl in trouble, a girl biting her lip to hold in a scream of grief, a girl running in the woods away from a monster, a girl captured by pirates, she sees someone who no one is coming for. Who no one will stick up for. A person without allies in a world against her. Whether it's actually true in this case or not, she runs straight for that girl anyways every single time.
#and that is why I will always. ALWAYS. be obsessed with her. writing that last line did make me cry a little. ohhh my godddd. naamiiiiii#my posts#one piece#nami#arlong park arc#east blue saga#op nami#op meta#op analysis#oh my fucking god nami. you forget sometimes because she's so happy and rambunctious and silly now but her life was a#nonstop nightmare horror show for years and years and years#she was all sharp edges and pain and gritted teeth and bloody determination and a hard laugh#for so long. oh my goddddddddddddd oh my goddd nami oh my god nami. oh my god nami.#sexism#implied assault#her life in that era is so fucking dark. you could write so many horror stories in there and they could all feel true

❀ Pairing: Medusa!Wanda Maximoff x Blind!Reader (F)
❀ Warnings: Reader is “sacrificed” and “saved by Wanda”, so much fluff, really quick acceptance, sexual content, Wandas snakes have their own personalities and love to mess with the reader when she is just snuggling with Wanda or when she is just chilling (lol), fingering, oral (r receiving), Wanda just flicking our bean while out on the beach, the snakes calm reader down IDK OK,
❀Disclaimer The pictures only represent aesthetic and themes. There is no certain skin color, body type, ethnicity, or description other than Y/n and “you”. Credit to who made the pictures in the banner as well.
❀ Authors Note: I have started reading the story called “Stone Blind” and it is a re-telling of the story of Medusa and telling the “true” story of how she became the “monster” she turned into. I feel like that even though Medusa was assaulted, she deserves love and I think that having a blind reader would help her feel like she was loved based off of her personality, not of fear. This story is a little lighter than the others, but it still is dark with hints of kidnapping and captivity. I will also be keeping Stheno and Euryale, Medusa’s original sisters, just for the organization of plot purposes! There are quotes in here that are loosely based on “Stone Blind”! All credit to Natalie Haynes for the style of Medusa I use!!
It’s a cooler summer day in Greece, rain feeding the dry crops with much-needed food. The drought that Zeus brought to the mainland was devastating, causing crops, veggies, and fruits to cripple before they were ripe enough to pick. This was a punishment for the greediness the people were showing, thriving a little too much to the god's liking.
It wasn’t uncommon for the god to be selfish like this. He would often flood the fields with too much water, making them die equally fast. Your village was one of the many affected by this cruel situation. You later learn that Zeus had a bad day and wanted to take it out on someone other than his poor wife in the clouds.
These games he played were difficult to navigate, as the world through your eyes was sightless. Just like tinnitus in the ear, your eyes seemed to feel the same way; clouded and blurred figures with every movement of your eyes. You were born this way, and no amount of begging could have changed what you encounter daily.
However, with this blindness, your other senses are heightened. Your hearing was better than most, and you did everything possible to protect it as it was your most powerful sense. Every chirp of a cricket, creek of a door, a voice outside your home. You could hear it all.
It was a blessing and a curse at the same time. “She won’t even know we are gone, she can’t see us. Out of sight, out of mind.” This was the last thing you heard from your parents before they abandoned you. Your heart broke when you heard those words, never feeling such betrayal from someone you loved before. It was that moment that caused you to shut off your emotions to other people.
At the age you are now, it was difficult to find really anyone who would accept your blindness, and love who you were on the inside. What never occurred to you was the fact that you needed someone who felt the same. Someone who felt an insecurity that needed to be validated by someone similar.
This was exactly how Wanda felt. She was the youngest of the Gorgon Sisters, born a mortal human but was punished by a goddess out of jealousy and spite.
The goddess Athena was spoiled by her father, getting everything and anything she wanted with a snap of her fingers. When she was betrayed, she didn’t punish Poseidon, who in fact was the person who caused this problem in the first place. She punished the poor girl who was hurt by Poseidon, all because the situation unfolded in Athena's own temple.
Why did she choose Wanda to punish? Because she was mortal and did not have to suffer through centuries of war and turmoil. The night she went to Wanda's cave, her sisters were out hunting; gathering for their mortal sister so she could eat. Athena took this opportunity of Wanda's solitude to torture her, ripping every piece of hair from her head, forcing red, writhing snakes to take their place.
She was in pain for days, her scalp burning with every movement the snakes made. Her nights were spent screaming and sobbing into the darkness of her cave, her sisters trying everything they could to soothe her. They were only met with silence until the day she finally spoke up about who hurt her. Her sisters were angry with the sea god for even looking at their loved one. They had their own way of punishing Poseidon, but of course, the god couldn't care less. He was powerful and could do whatever he wanted, just like his niece Athena.
Some could say that Athena took pity on Wanda for what her uncle did. And to keep the other gods away from her, the powerful goddess turned the girl's beautiful locks of hair into a head of writhing snakes. This was for protection from her uncle and any of the other greedy and overpowered gods that rule the world.
No matter the tale that one has heard, what is true is that Wanda is now considered a monster just like her sisters. But who determined what a monster was? Was a monster someone merely different from you? Or was it men that made everything monsters? Men seem to be afraid of powerful women, or women with sharp teeth, wings, and tusks.
Monsters are misunderstood.
The two sisters are some of the most gentle creatures to adorn the earth's surface. Sure, they hunt animals and look a little scary, but they keep a flock of sheep, learn how to cook bread, and take care of their mortal baby sister.
The first time they met Wanda, Stheno’s talon gently brushed along her cheek, wiping away a tear that had fallen when she arrived on the sand. Now that Wanda is a grown woman, her immortal sisters adapted to her needs. She spent most of her time on the beach, but now spends her time in the depths of her cave, too scared to come out of fear that Poseidon will hurt her again.
Stheno and Euryale vowed to never let anyone hurt their beloved sister ever again. They hoped that one day she would find a lover who would be willing to love her for who she was. Someone she could grow old with, and love with every fiber (and snake) of her being.
The snakes… they each have their own personality. There are thirteen (13) in all. Wanda or anyone for that matter has named them or really knows the difference. However, the two snakes at the very front of her head, close to her temples are easily told apart. On the left, there is Fang. She has a visible attitude and can hardly believe her fate was to be on top of someone's head. On the right, there is Lucky. Just like her name, Wanda could tell that she felt lucky to be a part of her host. Fang was sassy and defiant while Lucky was just happy to be there.
Though the rest of the snakes are just as present as Fang and Lucky, they each have a mind of their own and tend to make Wanda laugh despite her fate. Their hisses of protest when Stheno says that it’s getting dark and to come back into the cave, or when Euryale asks Wanda for her help with something while the snakes are sunbathing. My god, do they love the sun!
You did too. It was for a much different reason than what a seeing person might believe. You loved the sun for its two main purposes; to light up and warm the earth. Now, that may be what everyone thinks of Helios, the god of the sun. But to you, it meant so much more. With no sight and just a blurry field of vision in front of you, the sun kept the colorful blobs of people and obstacles slightly more viewable.
Selene, the moon goddess was not your favorite. Although she lights the night, most occasions it is only a sliver of light. Once a month do you really get to enjoy the darkness with some light guiding you from place to place. On the nights of the new moon, you stayed in the comfort of your home for the night. Although you could not see the phase of which Selene was in, you knew the darker the next night got, the closer it was to a new moon.
On one particular evening, you were unaware that it was a black moon. Meaning it was the second new moon in a months time. It was getting dark, but you had the thought that it would be bright enough to make it home, only to make a wrong turn when a man pushed past you.
Villagers helped you put your fallen fruit back into your basket, and a kind woman gives gently places your bamboo guiding stick back in your hand. You thank them, but you missed the opportunity to ask them the direction of your home. Physically you knew where you were, but again, it was getting dark and you were all turned around.
Hoping for the best in a difficult situation, you chose to turn right. Usually at this cross road, you would be facing North and your home was East, so you would turn right. Unfortunately, this rocky path led you right to Poseidons’ sea itself. And the god was ever so pleased to have a clueless woman enter his domain. Coming up from the oceans depths, he approaches you in your wandering state.
“Can I help you find your way, miss?” The god asks. Your head follows the voice to the right, unaware of who asked the question.
“I may be a bit lost,” You say with honesty. “I was on my way back from the market, but stumbled and lost the direction I was going.” Explaining yourself to the stranger felt like the logical explanation, but Poseidon used your confusion against you.
“No, I think you’re in the right place…” He smirks, gently putting his hand on your shoulder. Your head snaps to the sudden touch, clutching your baskets handle a little tighter. Poseidon isn’t aware of your blindness, all you are to him is a means to an end. He is in debt to his father, Kronos.
Poseidon knew the moment you stepped foot on to his cool sand, he knew you were perfect. As a god, you think he would know everything about you, but you were very wrong.
“Here, let me help you find your way back to the road.” He says, removing one of your hands from the basket handle. You allow him, but you are confused as you continue to feel sand beneath the sole of your sandals. The moon was not there, and you were helpless.
Kronos, the god of time, was betrayed by his son. Poseidon decided to ask his father for time. All the time in the world, when he got ahold of Wanda. He wanted to spend every waking minute with her, fucking her and holding her when she is begging to see her sisters again only to drag her under the oceans surface when he is bored of her. Poseidon gets bored very easily, but Wanda’s pussy was different. Although his father did not question what he was going to use this time for, automatically a debt was owed.
Poseidon decided against using this time with Wanda, as her whining and begging becoming increasingly annoying. So he sent her back to her sisters to live in peace. That is, until Athena came along of course. He was adamant that he shouldn’t have to pay his father back since he did not use the time. Kronos lended him this time willingly without question. He was determined to get it back. And Poseidon had his sacrifice right in front of him.
His hand pulled you in the direction of a large rock by the edge of the water, a place that Poseidon remembers greatly. Andromeda was supposed to be sacrificed there, but Perseus swept in and came to the rescue, stopping a large sea monster with the help of Athenas spear and Artemis’s winged sandals. It was a shame to see such a beautiful sea creature leave the world in such a damaging way.
“Here we are, back on the road again, just a little further,” Poseidon says, his other hand taking the basket from your hands.
“Hey w-wait, I need tha-” You are cut off by a calloused hand clasping over your mouth.
“Just stay still and it will all be over soon.” The god whispered in your ear. Your breaths were staggered as you heard his words, confused by what he meant. Soon his hands were untying the soft rope from around your waist holding your silk toga to your body. The fabric fell to the ground, leaving you only in your under garments. You whimpered, trying to understand what is happening.
“Please, whoever you are, let me go. H-have my fruit, t-take the gold!” You fought hard against the gods rock hard torso, fearing for your life.
“I told you to be still!” He shouted. His arms wrapped your body and he threw you over his shoulder. Damp hair rubbed against your skin as you struggled and a chiseled arm wraps their way around your legs to keep them still. A hard hit to your barely covered ass made you yelp, and you tried scratching at Poseidons back. The immortal couldn’t feel pain, so he took no thought of it.
With little to no trouble at all, he put your squirming body on the sand and held his hand over your neck to keep your back against the rock. The power he had was nothing compared to your mortal strength. So he held you still by straddling your legs, while his hands expertly tie your wrists together with the very rope keeping your toga on.
“Please sir, please I’ll do anything.” You whimper as tears fall from your grey eyes. The god ignores you and takes the chain set under the rock by Zeus himself and begins to connect your now-restrained wrists to it. You were trapped, and you could only pray to the gods, any of them, to show you any mercy.
“There. No need to cry, little one. You are a divine sacrifice for a god that has a lot of power. Don’t struggle, it makes him angry.” Poseidon said, and he tightened his already perfected knot in the rope.
He stepped back from your crying form and looked up to the sky. “I come to give the debt I owe! Isn’t she enough, father??” He shouts his arms opening. The sea is uneasy, his emotions controlling the tide.
Thunder claps and you know Zeus is present. “No, brother. Not now.” Poseidon growls, the intention of this sacrifice going to his father, not his sibling.
The rain soaks into your skin and clothes causing the thin band holding your breasts and underwear to become sheer and see-through. Poseidon took notice of your exposed body and paused his message to his father. Making his way to you, he smirks as he sees you trying to move your wrists from the sturdy, iron padlock connecting them to the chain. “It’s no use, ομορφιά μου (my beauty).”
You don’t look at him, your futile attempts at escaping only end in failure. He growls when you ignore him, not acknowledging his clear compliment at calling you “his beauty.” Approaching you, he knelt down in front of you and roughly pulled you to face him by your chin. The moment his eyes met yours, an epiphany hit.
“You’re blind?” He asks, pulling his hand away from you like you were a leper. He knew his father would never take such a broken sacrifice. “Disgusting.” He spat while he stood up. He begins to walk away, your ears barely picking up on his steps thumping in the sand.
“W-wait! Wait please let me go! I wan-want to go home!” You shout his way, but the god only ignores you walking into the sea and leaving you exposed for anything.
In a sense, you were grateful that you were no longer Poseidon's sacrifice. But you were still stuck in your current situation, so you went to your last resort. You started to call out, shout, scream, to anyone who you thought could save you. An hour had passed and your voice was nothing more than a croak.
You were starting to believe that you were going to die on a God's beach with no one in sight to help you. However, someone was watching from afar. A woman who fears to look at you without the knowledge that you are blind. But she was in the same position as you, and she wanted to help you. Yet, she hasn’t had anyone to keep for herself.
So she considered. Would she be just as evil and selfish as Poseidon for taking you? Could she make you believe that she rescued you and instead not let you leave her cave? Stheno and Euryale would most likely not approve, Wandas sisters love her and only want what is best for her. The snakes on Wanda’s head hissed in question, Lucky gently rubbing her scaly head against her cheek.
“I know, I really shouldn’t. But she was a victim of that retched god too. Maybe I can finally feel in control… when I am in control of her? I- I don’t want to turn her to stone…” Fang hissed in response, her tongue tickling her opposite cheek. “I could blind fold her, and you’re right, she needs someone to take care of her. She looks like she’s about to die right there. That bastard…” Wanda says to Fang, starting her journey from the beach's small cliffs to the rock you were restrained to.
Before she makes it to you, she gathers the fruit that fell when the god took you and sets them back into the basket. Then she reaches for your discarded dress and picks it up as well. Finally, she reaches you. Her heart breaks when she sees you. Your wrists are rubbed raw, blood soaking the brown rope surrounding them, tears are stained on your cheeks and your eyes are closed.
Wanda rips a piece of cloth from your toga and kneels down next to you. Peacefully asleep, you are still as she ties the cloth around your eyes. With the blindfold on, Wanda leans her head down to the rope encasing your injured wrists, one of her snakes near the back of her head — the one with much sharper fangs — begins to chew on the rope. The rope broke free and your arms fell loosely to your lap.
The smallest whimper left your mouth, exhaustion keeping you fast asleep. Wanda admired your stoic look, your exposed chest moving up and down slowly with each breath you took. She sighs softly, knowing how it felt to be left exposed, for anyone to come across. Her empathy grew as she looked at you, your nipples were seen through the sheer fabric of your strophic (greek bra) and the wind nipped at your skin causing goosebumps to pebble.
Shaking her head and mentally cursing the sea god, she wraps the fabric of your dress around your body; Adding a length of seaweed to keep it secured to your waist. Oh so gently, she lifted your unconscious body into her arms smiling as your head rolled against her chest. Lucky and Fang were eager to meet you, both of their heads trying to get as close to you as possible.
“Hey, you’ll get to meet her when we go back home, ok? I promise,” Wanda chuckles, and the snakes pull their bodies back to their place closer to her scalp.
The journey to her cave was not very far, just around the bend of the cliff. North of where you were destined to be sacrificed. She took care with each step taken, making sure that her prized possession was still asleep, and comfortable. Lucky and Fang looked over you as you slept, keeping their distance until Wanda let them say hi. As scary as they may look, they are all puppies at heart.
Chills crept up your spine as Wanda entered the cave with you in her arms, and goosebumps began to pebble on your skin. She takes notice, gently laying you down on her straw bed in the dim fire-lit cave. Your head lulled to the side, causing Wanda to jump slightly, forgetting that you had the blindfold on to protect you.
Stheno and Euryale were surprised to see another woman besides their little sister inhabiting the cave, and they curiously looked over your unconscious body.
“Wanda? Who is this sleeping woman?” Said Stheno, creeping quietly behind her sister.
“I don’t know her name yet, but I saved her from an untimely death. Poseidon had gotten ahold of her, hoping for a sacrifice, but was unsatisfied by her,” Wanda explains, sighing as she drags her knuckle down your lightly textured cheek. “That bastard is nothing but trouble.” She sighs, trying her hardest to not look at her sisters, understanding that even immortals can turn to stone with one gaze at her eyes.
Euryale eyed Stheno, worried that Wanda may be turning into someone she swore to never become.
“Did she come willingly?” Euryale asked, settling her wings against her feathered back.
“She hasn’t woken up yet, but I am sure that she will understand, right?” Wanda was anxious about your awakening, your acceptance of your stay was appreciated and not feared. “Should we wait outside until she wakes up?”
Wanda's older sisters nod their heads. “I don’t want to frighten her when she opens her eyes. I believe we would be some of the last monsters she would want to see.” Of course, they don’t know that you are unable to see…
“I will go tend to the sheep,” Euryale said.
“I will go set up a fire on the beach and start cooking your meal,” Stheno said, both creatures leaving to do their tasks.
“And I will go help, and wait for my sleeping beauty to awaken.” Wanda says with a smile, softly swiping her thumb over your cheek.
~~~~~~~
The same as every other day, your eyes open to a blur of shapes and colors. However, this time is different- you are met with complete darkness, the atmosphere is cold and almost damp, and the scent of salt water fills your nose. There is cloth over your eyes, something you don’t take mind to. Trying to find where you are, you feel around your surroundings to retrieve your guiding stick only to be met with sand, small rocks, and straw. These sensations were familiar but not something you would regularly wake up to.
Standing up, you struggle to navigate through the cave you concluded you were in, reaching for a wall or something to stabilize yourself with. You let out a sigh of relief as your hand reached a rocky wall. Now you were stuck, you didn’t know what way led out of the cave.
“Hello?” You call out, your voice echoing through the cave. Your head turns in the opposite direction as you hear padded footprints against the sand. Your worries heightened, unknowing of the person approaching you.
“Hello dear, I’m so glad to see that you are awake, how do you feel?” The smooth voice of a woman is heard. Gentle, yet assertive. Confusion melts across your face and you take an unintentional step back, causing a slight hissing from the woman in front of you.
“I- I feel fine, wh- where am I?” You ask, distressed and scared. Being unable to see every day was fine with you, as long as you knew where you were. That fear skyrocketed the moment you woke up in a new environment.
“No need to worry about that, sweetheart. Come with me,” The woman said, and with a soft hand, she grabbed yours. The unexpected contact started you, but you followed nonetheless.
“Who are you, a-and why am I here? I want to go back to my home, please.” Cracks in your voice made Wanda turn to face you, only to be met with tears rolling down your cheeks.
She sighs and stops just at the entrance of the cave. Oh, sweetheart, don’t cry, you are safe here now. That god won’t get you here.”
“God?” You don’t remember what had happened the night before, your memory fogging up after falling at the crossroads. “What do you mean, “safe now?” I just want to get back home, the fruit was so expensive.”
Pulling away from Wanda, you grab at the cloth around your eyes. The fabric falls from your head and hits the ground faster than Wanda can stop you. Panic fills her system, and she quickly turns her head away from you, her head of red snakes following.
A soft red tendril of energy hits your temple, and you fall unconscious. Before your body hits the ground, Wanda turns and catches you just in time. Guilt takes over her as she looks at your sleeping form, Lucky and Fang are equally as concerned for you as their host.
The scaled head of Fang nudges against Wanda's cheek, a small hiss emitting from her mouth. “Yes, she’s ok. She was nervous and wanted to see where she was, I know that. Im just going to put her by the fire until she wakes up.” She responds to Fang, her little eyes rolling as she gently taps his head from getting any closer to you.
As gently as she can, Wanda lifts you into her arms and brings you out to the fire that Stheno lit. She sits down and lays your head in her lap, softly brushing a few grains of sand from your cheek. A groan emits from your closed lips and you subconsciously roll your body closer to the warm fire. It brings you a sense of safety a blanket could never do justice.
But the feeling of being so close to Wanda felt just as safe, even though you did not know where you were or who you were even with. Her presence gave you a comfort that you hadn’t felt before. Her soft toga rubbed against your cheek, and you nuzzled into it subconsciously. Wanda’s lips turned up into a smile, petting your hair with a gentle hand. The sensation begins to wake you up, pulling you from your forced slumber. Slowly your eyes open, the dull shade of yellow filling your blurred and confined field of vision.
The blindfold was still on, however, you didn’t mind this time. Whoever’s hold you are in made it clear that they do not want to be seen. Although you are unable to see, you keep your eyes glued to the fire in front of you, the light slightly dimmed by the blindfold.
“Are you awake, dear?” Wanda’s voice sounds from above you, and you nod your head that lays in her lap.
“Who are you?” You ask, your voice filled with curiosity but not fear.
“My name is Wanda, and you are here with my sisters Stheno and Euryale. You are safe, sweetheart.” Wanda responds, her knuckle softly dragging down your cheek. She smiles as you begin to sit up, allowing you to fully sit next to her.
Your next question was quick to exit, “Where are we? I was on my way home but was turned around,” You explained your situation, leaving out the part where the god almost sacrificed you to his father but left you for the dead when he decided you were not good enough. “I hear water,” You point out.
“Yes, we are on the beach a ways North from Athens. You needed help, as when I found you, you were chained to a rock,” Wanda said bluntly. “But you’re safe now,” Her snakes hissed at the thought of the woman in front of them being used as a sacrifice, but Wanda was quick to hush them. “And what is your name, sweetheart?”
The feelings of the rope around your wrists caused you to cringe in disgust, your arms wrapping around yourself.
“R-right…” You respond, trying to get the thought of death from your mind. Shaking your head, you sigh softly and lean back on one hand, answering Wanda's question, “My name is Y/n.”
“What a beautiful name, but I think I’ll stick to calling you sweetheart. Is that alright?” Wanda asks, her finger softly brushing over the exposed skin of your arm. A small smile grows on your lips and you nod.
“I don’t see why it wouldn’t be,” You say, a small giggle leaving your mouth. “I- um, I do have to ask. Why am I blindfolded?” The question was burning at the back of your skull for what seemed to be hours. From the first time you woke up to now, you had been aching for an answer.
Wanda hesitates. When she was turned by Athena, she never looked at her sisters. Even though they were immortal, they could still turn to stone if they met her gaze with their own. You hear a soft sigh and her soft voice tainted with sadness answer, “There is a dangerous creature around here that has the ability to turn any entity into stone once you look into her eyes. I cover your eyes for the purpose of protection.”
“But I can’t see,” You protest, reaching for the fabric. Wanda's hand wraps around your wrist as she stops you. “No, you don’t understand, I can’t see, even with the blindfold off. I was born blind," you explain, trying to help the woman in front of you understand that you were not in danger.
“Blind?” Wanda asks, your hands falling into hers as you move to your knees. “Meaning, you are unable to see anything?”
You nod, hoping she can see you. “Yes. There are only blobs of color here and there, but other than that, I can’t see a thing.” It was always difficult to explain what you could see. There was no reason it should be this hard as you could always say: ‘I can’t see anything,’ but you always go to the ‘blob of color’ explanation first.
“I don’t want to risk it, sweetheart. Blind or not, we don’t know who is not affected by her power,” She pauses, “Ive only just begun to get to know you, I don’t want to talk to a statue of such a beautiful woman.”
You feel heat rise from your neck, to your cheeks, all the way up to your ears. Her compliment makes you smile brightly. “O-oh, thank you…” You say, shyly looking away from her. “I understand, but, I really don’t think I will be affected, honestly!” You attempt to grab the blindfold again, this time successfully ripping it from your head. The fabric falls to the ground and you blink to allow your eyes to settle back to normal. “If I can’t see the creature, I don’t think it will be a bother,” You smile.
Wanda sighs and closes her eyes, pulling her gaze away from your beautiful figure. She hums as she feels your hand against her shoulder, your thumb softly rubbing over her skin. “May I feel your face? I would love to have an idea of what you look like to others,” You ask her, not wanting to seem too forward with your request. “Only if you allow it…”
Wanda keeps her head down, her snakes moving down to your hand to move their little tongues over your skin to learn more about you.
“Oh, oh? What are these?” She hears you say. She is taken aback by the giggling she hears next. “They’re tickling me,” You say, your sweet laughter filling the air. “Is this your hair?” Your finger hovers in the air just above her shoulder and the rest of the snakes lick it as well.
Wanda’s silence is enough to answer your question.
“I wish I could see them, they all seem so gent- ow! Except this little one,” Fang, still a little nervous to be around a new face, bites down on your finger. It was not as painful as you thought it would have been. Wanda jumped at your pain and immediately tapped Fang’s head to discipline her.
“No biting! She is a friend, not an enemy!” Wanda whisper-shouts at her, and you giggle quietly to yourself. “I apologize for her behavior, she knows better.” The snake hisses in return and she sighs as she moves her gaze up just a little bit. Her eyes land on your beautiful breasts, your nipples showing through the thin fabric of your toga. Wanda knows she should not be lusting, but she can’t help it.
You tilt your head at her scolding her head of red snakes, and your hand falls. “I don’t want to intrude on your home. Thank you for saving me, Wanda, but I best be on my way,” You say, standing up. Carefully, you try to reach around for a stick of some sort, nothing close to you. All you can do is stand awkwardly, trying to keep calm as you listen to the waves crashing against the sand.
“No, you need to rest, sweetheart. You’ve had a long day, so why don’t you sit down and we can eat? Stheno has made some bread, and the chicken is just about done.” Wanda tries everything in her power to make you stay, not wanting to force you just yet. In her mind, she knows she will make you stay.
Your stomach rumbles, and Wanda chuckles. “It seems like your hunger has spoken for itself, so lets sit you down again.”
Before Wanda is able to help you sit down, or protest about anything for that matter, you reach up to feel her face, your eyes meeting hers. Although you were unable to see her beautiful green and red mixed eyes, she saw your grey ones. Your irises held no color, and a scar-like line of [your original eye color] strikes through your right eye.
You didn’t turn to stone…
“Wanda… Wanda look!” Stheno exclaims. The woman you are looking up at tilts her head, her power not working on you.
“What’s wrong? Did I hurt you?” You ask, retracting your hands from her cheeks. Instantly, she pulls them back.
“No, no you didn’t hurt me, sweetheart. I- I am just surprised… my power, it didn’t work,” She says, churning confusion inside of your head.
“Power?” You pause, putting two and two together. “The creature you mentioned… the one that can turn people to stone, you are her… aren’t you?”
Wanda nods, your hands moving with her head. “Yes, and, I was trying to protect you, but-”
Your thumb gently brushes over her lips, the rest of your fingers ghosting over her facial structure, sculpting a picture in your mind. “I’ve only heard legends of a so called “monster” in these parts. But I have yet to meet a monster… Besides that god that tried to sacrifice me of course, but you? You are no monster.”
Your words made Wanda's heart melt. She has me wrapped around her finger already… there was no way I was letting her go. Her inner thoughts were loud, and she smiled softly as your fingers grazed her lips again.
“I’m very. Much aware of my inability to see what most people can with their eyes. But…” You pause, your hand cupping her jaw. “I do see your heart, and I think you’re absolutely beautiful. You took me in when I was vulnerable and scared, and I can’t thank you enough… You are no monster, Wanda.” You whisper, smiling as you feel Wanda’s arms curl around your waist, pulling you against her body.
“We’ve only just met, sweetheart…are you already falling for me?” Wanda teases, making you giggle as you lay your hand on her shoulder and drop your head to her chest.
“I might be… or I might just be hungry,” You prod back, your stomach doing somersaults as her lips press to your forehead in a soft kiss. “I hope its the former…”
~~~~~~~
As the night went on, you, Wanda, and her sisters enjoyed the food. You were happy you got to know Wanda a bit more while you talked amongst yourselves. She told you about her troubles with Poseidon, and how she became the 'monster' everybody claims her to be. She mentioned how she is still mortal and will die a death as any other mortal would.
It saddened you that she considered herself a ‘monster’, but you comforted her every time. She was not a monster in your mind. She was a victim who was punished for someone else’s doing, as were you. Although it was Poseidon who made his father angry, he punished you by trying to sacrifice you. You found common ground with Wanda.
“I think we will head into the cave for the night,” Said Stheno, nudging Euryale. “Just be sure to put the fire out when you both are done.”
Wanda nodded at her older sisters, shooing them away as she turned back to you. “It is such a beautiful night… I wish you could experience it the way I am,” She said to you, her fingernails tickling your arm as you lay in her lap. Her heart flutters at the feeling of your body weight in her lap, it grounded her.
“I can see how beautiful it is by feeling it,” You turn your body so you are looking up at Wanda, her snakes curiously looking back down at you. “I feel a small breeze against my skin, and I can hear the waves crashing against the sand. I can smell the salt coming from the sea, and I can hear your breaths. All of these things are such a beautiful image to me.”
Wanda’s lips pull up into a smile, a real, genuine smile. It had been so long since she felt as happy as this. It had been so long since she felt so carefree. As you spoke about your experience with your other senses, Wanda softly caressed your cheek. She hums quietly as she notices goosebumps form on your arms. “I have taken my sight for granted,” She says suddenly, taking in everything you said about feeling everything surrounding you.
“To a deaf person, I have taken my hearing for granted as well, but I am grateful that I can hear your voice,” You counter her thoughts, wanting to make her not feel so guilty about her advantage of sight.
“Your thoughts are just as beautiful as you are, sweetheart,” Wanda pauses, her fingers moving from your cheek to your neck. Slowly she moves closer to the dip in your dress, your breasts now free from their undergarments, and lying loosely behind the fabric of your toga. “You have the body of a goddess, the mind of a sage, and such a sweet personality.”
Her hand gently cups your breast, nimble fingers rubbing over your hardened nipple, peaking through the white dress. Your hand goes to hers, holding it still. She freezes, “Can I see you, sweetheart? All of you?” She asks, knowing exactly how it felt being forced to submit to someone much more powerful than her.
As you sit upright, you untie the piece of seaweed holding your dress around your body, the sleeves sliding down past your shoulders finally revealing your round, perfectly shaped breasts. Wanda sucks in a soft breath, an aching in her belly starting to form. She needed you, badly.
From her crossed-legged position on the ground, Wanda moves to her knees. You can sense her shifting, and you look around to follow the noises. Wanda's smooth hands softly guide you to your back, laying you gently against the sand below you. She then slowly pulls the rest of your dress off, exposing the rest of your beautiful body. “You are even more than I imagined…” She whispers, leaning down close to your chest.
She presses a kiss to the valley of your bosom, moving her lips up your sternum and to your neck, hovering just over your jugular. You can feel her smile against your neck and you turn your head to expose more skin to her.
The goddess above you couldn’t hold herself back any longer. Looking at your perfect body from her perspective was riveting, and it drove her mad. Her breath fanned against your lips, your body frozen and waiting for her to kiss you. That dull aching in Wanda's core grew, and she leaned down to kiss you deeply. Your arms wrapped around her neck, and you giggled as some of her snakes licked your hands. But Wanda wanted something else.
Her eyes began to glow a bright red, her head of snakes wrapping around your wrists. You gasped but allowed it to happen. As she leaned down lower, her snakes held your arms to the ground, holding you open and exposed to Wanda. As she continued to kiss you, her hand crept down your belly and to the soft hairs of your mound. She rubbed your petals, smirking against your lips as she could feel how wet you already were.
“Mmm, are you all wet just for me, sweet girl?” She whispers against your lips, chuckling softly as you nod desperately. “Such a good girl,” Her fingers finally dip between your wet folds, perfectly rubbing your button of nerves. A moan leaves your mouth, your legs spreading to give her more access.
“Feels s-so good, W-wanda,” You whimper, never feeling such great pleasure before. Your back arched against the cool sand, your arms still pinned to the sides of your head. Squeezing your eyes shut, you saw starts as the tight coil in your core began to form.
“I can feel that you’re close, sweet heart,” Wanda mumbles darkly against your cheek. Your mind clouded with a lustful mist, your legs shaking as your orgasm came crashing down upon you just as the waves did the sand. A loud moan leaves your mouth, Wanda's name being cried out by the woman underneath her.
Your breaths come out in soft pants, gulping in as much air as you can as your orgasm calms down. But Wanda is far from done. Her snakes uncoil from your wrists and she moves her lips down your body, her mouth meeting your dripping folds. You let out a whimper, your clit sensitive from her previous ministrations. “Relax, sweet girl…” She whispers, “I need to taste you,”
Her lips close on your engorged clit, swirling her tongue in just the right way to make you moan her name. She spreads open your pussy with one hand, her fingers prodding at your tight hole with the other, and you jolt in surprise at the sudden intrusion. Wanda's snakes are quick to calm you down, their heads rubbing against your thighs in gentle circles.
“Such a good girl, taking my fingers so well,” Wanda says, two of her long fingers sliding into your soaking hole, a whimper leaving your mouth at the same time. “Keep making those cute little sounds, love,” She eggs you on and you give in to every command.
Your moans are music to her ears, the frequent movement of her fingers pulling each mewl from your throat. A ‘pop’ is sounded as her lips suctioned off of your clit, but returning soon after.
Her fingers move faster, and her tongue moving around your clit pushes you over the edge, causing your second orgasm to flow through you. Your juices squirt out of your quivering hole, soaking Wanda’s face along with some of her snakes.
“Oh… how beautiful, and delicious you taste, sweetheart.” Wanda smiles against your pussy, pressing her lips to the top of your mound softly and kissing up your body. Her lips wrap around one of your nipples, and your hand reaches to find her pussy.
“Wanna feel you…” You say, rubbing your hand over her belly and lower, finally reaching her pussy as you push your hand under her dress.
“By all means. You are mine and I am yours,” Wanda says, resuming the pleasure of your nipple.
You feel her clit, rubbing her in slow circles at first. Slowly, your fingers move to her hole as well, gently easing into her and smiling as you hear a moan from her mouth. The vibrations from her throat send more pleasure through your nipples, pulling more moans from your own mouth.
As you move your fingers in and out of her wet cunt, the palm of your hand rubs against her clit. You can feel her body shake, her breath quiver, and her breasts against your own body. All sensations you never thought you would love so dearly.
Wanda is close, and she leans up from your nipples to capture your lips in a passionate kiss, her hole clenching around your fingers as she cums. You swallow her moans, your free hand coming up to cup her cheek as you return the kiss.
“Wands,” You whisper, not moving away just yet. Gently, you slide your fingers from her pussy, bringing them to your mouth and seductively sucking her juices off of your digits. “Such a ravishing taste, my love,”
Hearing those last two words made Wanda's stomach do backflips. Belonging to someone was all she wanted, and she wanted you to belong only to her. “Your love?” She asks, pulling away just to see your lips move.
“My love, Wanda,” You confirm, smiling as you lean up to kiss her again.
~~~~~~~
It is long past midnight, and Wanda has you in her arms, both of your naked bodies pressed against each other. With your head on her chest, you can hear her heartbeat, the soft thumping calming and lulling you to sleep.
“Thank you for saving me, Wanda. I- I don’t know what how I can express to you how grateful I am,”
That sparks an idea in Wanda’s head. You were a kind and loving soul, most likely willing to do anything to repay someone for their own kindness. So, she makes her plan fall right into place.
“Stay with me? Live here with me and my sisters? We all can tend to you, help you navigate, and we can even go to the village just East of here. But stay, please?” Wanda asks you, her lips gently pressing against your head as you think.
“I have no one back where I am from. They all shunned me because I couldn’t see. I can’t say no to such an amazing and thoughtful proposal as this,” You sit up, maneuvering your body to straddle her lap as she leans against the rock that was settled closer to the water. You nuzzle your face into the crook of her neck, Lucky gently laying her head on yours as well, and you close your eyes. “I would love to stay with you, only you. Forever.”
Jax’s behavior is legit pretty fascinating
Yes it’s time I ramble about the purple twink.
Fast Food Masquerade did something crazy in that it actually got me to start empathizing with the asshole because Jax’s visible frustration throughout this adventure was too real.
And in fact, it’s why I think Jax was acting so “different” towards the latter half of the episode.
This adventure was Too. Damn. Real.
Now, Jax’s character is actually really simple. He even sums up his whole schtick in the pilot.
“I’m fine with doing whatever, as long as I get to see funny things happen to people.”
Then in a hilarious bit of instant karma, promptly gets hit in the face with a gloink
The “-who aren’t me” part of that self description pretty much goes without saying.
Immediately after this happens, Jax’s little laidback exterior gets so rattled that he suddenly feels the need to take control and starts assigning tasks to everyone. And his casual attitude only returns once he feels like he’s not in any position for ridicule, by redirecting the potential for ridicule onto others. This is his defense mechanism.
Jax needs to feel in control, so he deliberately controls whatever situation he’s in to get the results he wants.
Something that I’ve always appreciated about Jax from a meta perspective is that he’s a character who actively moves the story forward, usually because he wants to satisfy his urge to create chaos.
And that’s the main thing about Jax, he’s really destructive.
Like…almost pointlessly destructive.
But, y’know what? It makes sense. Because he’s in a video game.
Where else can you be as needlessly and excessively chaotic than in a game where you can do pretty much anything because nothing is real?
Jax can hurt whoever and wreck whatever because if he’s living by video game logic, then there are no lasting consequences to his actions.
Jax even goes so far as to refer to Pomni, and by extension the other trapped humans, as a “character” in the pilot. Which goes to show how little he wants to consider them as people.
You can’t really hurt a character. And if used correctly, a character can be entertaining.
And that’s all Jax really wants out of his new life in the Circus, entertainment. Because the worst thing you can be while stuck in a game is be bored.
But of course, even in games, your actions have certain consequences that are just unavoidable.
And Episode 4 really beat Jax’s yellow teeth in with that not-so-fun little reminder. Because this bit right here
Pretty much was the precedent for how bad Jax was gonna get it this time.
And it all starts with Gangle absolutely refusing to let his usual bullshit slide by personally making sure that there will be consequences.
This is the first crack in Jax’s mask, he’s visibly concerned and annoyed that he no longer is allowed to be himself lest he risks getting punished. And even more baffling is that for the first time, Gangle asserts her power over him. She actually does something about his behavior, ripping the wind right out of his sails. Not only that but she continually enforces her authority, making it harder on him to get the upper hand again.
Now his interaction with Zooble is really interesting, because it’s the first time we see him at his most normal.
I don’t think he’s trying to tease them here, I feel like he’s genuinely curious about Zooble’s way of “playing” the game, because remember, it’s been a long time since they’ve been on an adventure together, if at all. Zooble’s excuse of wanting to avoid punishment makes sense because they witnessed first hand that Caine’s unstable personality is capable of some legitimate danger.
Of course, Jax believes that there isn’t any real risk involved. The only immediate menace to him and his current desire to just get through the day, is Gangle and her new mask.
At this point he’s not trying to be destructive or disruptive. He’s fully apathetic, because being forced to act like a minimum wage salary employee is not fun in the slightest. He can’t make things fun for himself, so he refuses to participate entirely.
As the clock mocks him with every slow tick, his mask chips more and more.
Jax isn’t saying this to be calculatingly rude or hurtful, he’s not doing this to upset Gangle. He’s being sincere, which is why he’s not smiling.
Because Gangle is much easier to push around and go along with whatever he wants her to do when she’s in Tragedy mode. She’s more “fun” that way.
In other words, he really hates this new dynamic they’ve got going on.
But this little comment, just makes things even worse for him because now Gangle goes from enforcing her authority to straight up abusing it by letting herself abuse him for a change.
It’s crazy how Jax’s main concern here is making sure this torture scene is just between them. He really hates being humiliated, more so than getting physically hurt.
The man has some serious issues, but c’mon we already knew that.
So Jax is finally getting a taste of his own medicine and it completely emasculates him. To the point where he just defaults to doing whatever Gangle tells him to do just to avoid feeling like that again. Now the mask is fully stripped off, he’s openly exasperated and powerless. On top of that he has no real impulse to ridicule or ruffle anyone’s feathers anymore, because for the first time in probably a long while, he’s even more miserable than everyone else.
And what does misery love?
Company
As someone who’s worked in retail for a while, nothing helps keep you sane more than having a little of bit of camaraderie when struggling to survive in corporate hell.
Something that really stood out to me in this episode is the limited use in background music, especially when in Spudsy’s, where you either get muzak to sell the ambiance of a public eatery or silence with the occasional machinery noise.
And yeah, that’d be enough to make shit as immersive as possible. It’s not a coincidence that the restaurant looks like a McDonald’s when Gooseworx even said it was directly modeled after it. It’s uncanny, how real this setup feels.
Uncomfortably uncanny.Jax seething at the clock is a relatable struggle.
The mask immediately comes back on once Jax no longer has any obligation to stick around.
But Jax can’t even enjoy his freedom. His day is officially over, but the sting of the experience still lingers. The adventure wasn’t just boring or frustrating, it was humbling, in every terrible way. This wasn’t a game, it was real life.
And I think the last kick in the teeth was this license plate waiting for him in the parking lot (Why did Caine make them drive “home”? That’s just extra)
One is the loneliest number
Jax doesn’t hide the fact that he’s an asshole, he’s almost proud of it. He practically relishes getting a rise out of everyone. He is well aware that nobody likes him, but I think this where he starts realizing that it actually bothers him.
Everyone has talked about that very brief moment where Jax’s expression changed towards the end of Candy Carrier Chaos, when Ragatha was talking about Kaufmo’s funeral and we get to see him actually get sad for a change, before immediately shaking it off and stomping away in irritation.
Jax showed no concern over Kaufmo’s abstraction in the pilot, so why would he feel sad about it in that moment? Does he secretly care about his fellow humans and just doesn’t want to admit it?
Maybe. But personally, I think the others choosing to morn those who’ve abstracted like they’re dead makes him seriously uncomfortable. Because it serves as a reminder that even in this world, there are still major consequences when some things aren’t taken seriously.
Jax doesn’t want to consider real life consequences. None of them even look like real people, so why should he bother treating everyone like real people?
So when he sees everyone else getting closer and being good to each other, it’s annoying and weird. The idea that they need to look out for one another feels pathetic. Treating abstraction seriously means it’s a real danger, and that would mean that he’s also susceptible to experiencing it one day.
And when you’ve built up a reputation over making everyone miserable, who’s gonna wanna remember you?
In a show that’s clearly all about building relationships, Jax’s destructive behavior is really gonna cost him.
#boy howdy this one took a while#had to watch the episode too many times to decide what to talk about#now that we’re potentially looking at a long haitus for the next episode I might start making character analysis for everyone else thus far#just to keep myself sane#I’ve talked about Ragatha for too long it’s time I expanded a little#gonna sweep up the Ragatha brain rot to make room for the others#Jax is not a character I’m particularly fond of but he is fun to dissect#he’s a loser but not my kind of loser#his focus episode is definitely gonna be interesting#the amazing digital circus#tadc#tadc jax#jax#character analysis#fast food masquerade#biscuit bakes
Predator x a former Weyland-Yutani researcher who does NOT want their children anywhere near a xenomorph at any point in time/is not so hot onnthe whole "hunting the most dangerous game" thing in general.
Monsters Under The Bed
Character: Woftik (male Yautja) x GN!Reader
Word Count: 2077
Summary: On the north end of the planet, the cold weather is brutal. Only the strong survive. One of your children is nearing their chiva. The blooding ceremony where she could die. You didn't want her to go. She's still your baby to you. Still so small like the day she was born. But Woftik is the leader of the tribe. This must be done.
Author Note: This thought process for many of those who have children with Yautjas is probably high. Humans aren't used to such a thing. Sometimes it works in their favor, but others... not so much.
“I will not allow our child to be slaughter by those, by those monsters!” you screamed off at the top of your head. Tears streamed down your sticky cheeks. A finger was shoved into Woftik’s chest, not even making the Yautja sway. “It’s one thing for you to go out there and hunt but it’s another to send our child to their deaths!”
Out of all the things he could’ve said today, you weren’t expecting him to state it’s time for your daughter to become a newly blooded. Woftik had been training her since she could walk how to hunt. Hunting normal things for food or necessity. Not going off to fight an eight-legged creature who only comes out at certain times in a year. This thing lives in caves. Caves. Limited space to fight. The beast was around twenty feet tall, scary beyond belief, and – oh, could kill your daughter! How did he not understand this?!
Woftik let you yell at him, let you take your anger out at him. An angry partner was bad. But he knew better from experience not to feed into the energy. After some time, you’ll wear yourself out eventually.
The nonreaction from him only pissed you off more. It gave you the wrong signals. As if, he didn’t care about you or your feelings or your daughter. Your fists trembled at your sides. You were red in the face, hot headed and all. “You don’t care?! You don’t care she could die because it’s part of your culture to send your children to death. But, I will not stand for this.” You put down your foot firmly and jabbed your finger into his chest again.
Only a brow lifted to acknowledge the jab. “Woftik, you will not send Vo to her death. I will not stand for this. I don’t care if its part of your culture.” With your past experience with Weyland-Yutani, you knew some of their culture and history. Dangerous. Death. That’s the foundations that you saw. Kill or be killed in their line of work.
Why in all the years did you decide to free this asshole and allow him to take you away from earth. You will never know what you were thinking back then. Young and stupid. Here comes this big, burly, monster who sweeps you off your feet and saves you after saving him. How idiotic you were. Cause now look at the trouble that’s put you in.
After all the yelling, releasing the pent up anger, the energy left your body. You panted, shoulders heaving while glaring up at the giant off white Yautja in front of you. His stance or features hadn’t even changed once since the start of the argument. You wanted to get angry all over again but saw no point. If he won’t budge, what’s the point to try again?
“Woftik,” you soft call his name. The glare on your face turning into a pleading expression. “Please.”
One of his upper mandibles twitched. “Sweetheart.” Woftik cupped your hot face in his hands and drew you in closer. “This is for her. She has trained since the moment she could stand. She must take this step in her life to continue to live within our tribe. Or else she’ll be forced out.” His thumbs rubbed at both the wet and dry tears stuck to your cheeks. “This is for her own good. Even our own daughter has to face the same challenges as any other Yautja.”
Your heart broke into a million pieces. Tears fell more constantly. You shook your head in his hands, trying to deny his words. “Woftik, please. Don’t do this. Don’t send her out there. She’ll die. She’s… she’s not like you. She’s human too.” As much as you hate to use your species in a demeaning way to yourself, if it helped. So be it.
A hybrid. A surprise you didn’t think was scientifically possible. Two different species, different DNA, different chromosomes. It shouldn’t be logical. But, here was your daughter, Vo-tok. She was living proof.
His mandibles drew up into his mouth. “And that will be her advantage to this. I believe in her skill and my skill. Remember, I taught her everything she knows. Do you trust me?” he asked, softening his voice and drawing your full attention to him.
The lump in your throat was hard to swallow down. Your gaze slipped down to the ground. Anywhere besides his dark brown eyes that could see into your very soul. His hands on your cheeks tilted your head up even more to find the thing you tried to hide from.
“Do you trust me?” By his god, you did. A lot. It was your human nature to fret about your daughter though. He’s trained. Cleanly. You’ve seen him in action when he had to take down the base he had been locked up in. No human could stand in his path and live. All except yourself. That was because you had saved his life. The code all respected Yautjas follow to a T. He had been forced by said code to take you back with him, despite his want to slaughter you. Except, you had freed him from his bonds and gave him a chance to escape.
Pain was evident in your eyes. “Woftik,” you whined his name. The Yautja tightened his hold, silently demanding an answer from you. A sigh left you, eyes shutting softly with a wince. “You know I do.”
Despite your anger, your rage on the male, there wasn’t a doubt you trusted him. You had to in this line of work. Without him, being in the cold, freezing North Pole, you would’ve perished long ago.
Woftik released a deep rumble that sounded similar to a purr. His face grew close to nuzzle his temple to yours. “Then, trust my training. I’ve taught plenty before. Not all have returned from the hunt. I won’t lie to you. Her chances are greater than any other trainer,” he explained and pulled away. Your eyes fluttered open to find his nearly black eyes looking deep into yours.
“How can you expect from me to do this? I can’t. I can’t just turn a blind eye and let our daughter near such a thing. Why can’t she just hunt something normal? Like those deer-like creatures you bring home every once in a while,” you tried to reason with him one more time. Anything to get him to break. “This is our daughter we’re talking about.”
His eyes hardened for a moment. “And all of my children have gone through similar training either by me or their mother. They’ve endured the hunt. Not all have survived. It’s their final test to become a hunter. Vo-tok is half ooman but that may be an advantage to her.” How could he possibly think such a thing? Compared to his kind, Yautjas are weak, fragile. Plenty of other Yautjas have told you so despite who is your mate and what your position is in their clan.
From the determination in his eyes and voice, there was no way to win this verbal battle with him. As much as you hated it, his word was law. He led his clan with a mighty fist and ensured their survival through the harshest of months. That didn’t mean he wouldn’t take your word or listen to you. He’s often done that. But, this was one thing he won’t budge on.
And that made you feel a hurricane of feelings for him.
You turned your head away, pulling away from his touch. “When does this ‘hunt’ begin?” you asked in a defeated tone, faced tucked to the side.
Woftik sighed and squared his shoulders. “Three days, at dusk. The beast only comes out at night.” Your heart clenched at the thought of your daughter fighting at night. This couldn’t get worse. You flinched and hugged yourself, trying to fight off the new wave of tears again.
Your shoulders were bunched. You forced yourself to take a few steps away from him. “Okay,” you softly said then turned around and walked away from him. Distance was needed. Space and time. You had to go spend time with your daughter. Before everything may change before your eyes.
Worst of all. You had three other children with him. Woftik was sentencing all of them to their deaths. And there’s nothing you could do to stop it. All he expected from you was to trust the training he puts all four of them through. But Woftik is… Woftik. He could handle himself. You’ve seen it personally, up front and personal. But this, this is completely different. Your children. This is your children you were talking about.
The eldest of your children wasn’t even home. She was out, training with another group of young bloods nearing their blooding ceremony. And none of their parents were objecting this. It was part of their culture. A hard pill to swallow for an outsider who wanted to protect your children from the monsters.
The others were in the playroom that branched off of from the common room. You walked through said space to find all of your little ones huddled together, eyes wide. Their whispering stopped immediately at your approach.
Unease had settled in their dark eyes. Your heart broke all the more at the sight. Instantly, you knelt before them, brows furrowed up. “Oh, babies,” you cooed to them in a soft, gentle tone.
None of them were babies anymore. The second oldest, Ma’ril, was thirteen in Yautja years, nearing his own blooding as well. Then, you had Tink-on. She was twelve. Lastly, was Veir. He was nine. The youngest in your family. Yet, all of them knew the basics at least of hunting. Each progressing in different weapons that suited them best. Woftik ensuring to hit every style to find what fits them. He was so careful about their training. That at first, you weren’t fretting about their upcoming hunts. Until the day comes.
It was closing in fast.
“You heard us yelling, didn’t you?” you asked, disappointed in yourself. This is one of your worst fears.
Veir nodded his head silently and looked at you from underneath his brows. You flinched as if he had struck you. It was one thing to shout at your partner but another to have your children hear it.
“Oh, babies, I’m so sorry. We were disagreeing on something. I’m… I’m just scared for your older sister. I can’t help it. It’s part of being human.” Something they were burdened with. The emotions of a human and the talents and skills of a Yautja. Two ideas that don’t mix well. “But, we came to an agreement. There’s nothing to worry about now.”
They all looked at each other before returning their eyes to you. Timidly, you opened your arms and waited with bated breath. One after another, Ma’ril, Veir, and Tink-on piled in on each other. All of them snugging you into a hug.
“You know I love you with all of my heart, right?” A question you couldn’t but ask in the aftermath. Each one nodded and voiced that they knew. “Good. Good. I’m very glad. I love you guys so much. You’re my world.”
And they were. They were your lifeline. Woftik was part of that as well. Pieces to the puzzle that made up your life. A life you didn’t want to see break up if a piece goes missing. You had to hold back the tears desperate to fall. The idea hurting more than you thought.
You felt the eyes before hearing the soft steps of Woftik. Out of the corner of your eye, you saw the hulking, white giant stalk into the room quiet as ever. He moved with ease and lowered himself to his knees at your side. Your gave him a tight lipped smile that didn’t quite reach your eyes. The pain was too fresh in your heart to forgive him just yet.
“They heard us,” you explained in soft voice that only he could hear. The off-white Yautja hummed and scooted closer, showering the four of you with his warmth. His muscular arms came around and encircled all of you. You leaned into him, taking the embrace to quell the pounding of your heart.
Nothing needed to be said about your family. Mismatched, imperfect as it was, you loved it more than anything.
Would Papa Hades mind if I rant to him my frustration over how people always make him a ‘Bad Guy’ in our world?
Whenever Movies that have Greek Mythology in it, it always pissed me off when they make Hades the Villain (I feel like it’s just because Hades is the God of the Underworld that automatically makes him ‘Evil’)
Literally out of ALL the Greek Gods, Hades is actually the NICEST of the Gods (He was willing to let a mortal man take his wife out of the Underworld but he must not look at her because she’ll be sent back during the journey until they leave his realm) and was never unfaithful to his beloved Persephone
There was a myth that he had ONE lover, but that was BEFORE he met his Beloved
Would Papa Hades appreciate that I don’t see him as evil just because he rules over the Underworld? (Because since he’s one of the Great Seven so he’ll naturally be feared for his powers and authority)
Warnings: Papa Hades in his 50ft form, comforting ancient Shinigami, daily allotted sunshine/shade garden time,
For reference, this is approximately the current height difference:
~~~~~~~~
"-but I mean, why do they always have to make Hades out to be bad? I don't think my Hades is bad and I don't think you're bad either. You're probably the only one I've met in this world who didn't immediately try to make decisions for me. You haven't collared me, or taken me away from where I want to be, or tried to control me in any way. You're even letting me sit on your shoulder and talk your ear off in the garden because I wanted some time away from it all!"
The giant Shinigami was leaning his cheek on his hand, listening attentively to your every word. You both were seated upon a shadowy throne he had summoned in the stone and briar garden of Ramshackle. It was a good distance away from the building itself and no one was willing to tell the Shinigami he couldn't protect you.
Deep in the shadows, watchful eyes thought better of challenging a being of myth and power. Some were dissuaded from the prospect altogether, seeing such an ancient being so casually attending the soft Human prize. Not all who hunted sought harm, but even the insane knew better. Smaller predators will almost always give space to a bigger predator. No need to die this day.
The giant Shinigami was enjoying the history lessons from your world, curious that your own history had beings so similar to him that even shared his name. He also appreciated the fact you were so passionately defending his doppelganger in your world. Truthfully, the similarities between him and the Hades of your world was not lost on him. Perhaps the Humans of your world were originally from Twisted Wonderland and simply forgot over time after crossing to a different realm. If that were the case then he had much to consider.
Still, he appreciates how relaxed you are around him, now trusting in his willingness to act in your best interest. He had always afforded all of the Humans under his protection the ability to choose. The only difference now was he had to keep a closer eye on you than he did the Humans leaving his isle.
"I'm glad to be living up to your expectations, Little One. So long as it is your wish to stay here, I will aid you however I can. Young Idia has updated your phone to contact me directly should you ever have need. I must say, it is nice to hear of your home, you speak so little about it. I'm sure you have your reasons, so I won't pry. I'm thankful you trust me enough to share all of this with."
"Well, it's hard not to trust you. You've kind of been amazing."
It soothed the wounded depths of the old Shinigami's heart to hear such earnest words. You truly did trust him and he treasured that more than you would likely ever know. The mourning shawl had adorned him many long centuries. Those centuries were some of the most painful for him, yet that pain was lessened and balmed by your simple trust and affection. He treasured that.

snobby, proud, self-centered - these were the words that described anton's first impression of you.
he'd just moved to town, tagging along with his parents to the local mall when his mother stopped in her tracks, causing him to nearly walk into her. he looked at her confusedly when she suddenly gasped, and squealed someone's name, before she practically ran up to another woman, who he'd soon find out to be your own mother.
"guys, this is my old friend from college," she'd told him and his dad. "and this is her daughter," she said as she gestured to you.
you'd been few inches taller than him, so he was intimidated by you and immediately got the impression you were looking down on him. (well, you were, literally.)
"why don't you two kids go to the arcade? here, my daughter has a game card," your mother spoke as she ushered you two away whilst the adults went somewhere else to catch up. anton and you awkwardly stood next to each other as the parents left you two alone.
once they were out of sight, you seemed to deflate; the intimidating aura wiped and replaced by a more relaxed and amicable ‘you’. somehow, you felt more human, and he let out his own steady breath when you smiled and held out your hand for him to shake.
“sorry, my mother can be a lot to handle. you play DDR?”
turns out, you were way more fun when your mother wasn’t around.
16
holding hands was something you two did often.
your friends would often tease you two about it, but neither you nor anton thought much of it. it was completely platonic, right?
but nonetheless, you two were relentlessly asked if you were dating, even when one or the other was in a relationship with someone else. in fact, your closeness had led to your first and most recent boyfriend breaking up with you.
"can you believe it? everyone knows we're literally just friends," you ranted to anton later that night. "so what if we're close? he himself had his own girl best friend - several in fact!"
anton hummed to let you know he was listening, busy working on an assignment that he'd spent far too long procrastinating.
"i mean, how insecure can he be? is it really that unbelievable for a boy and a girl to have a completely platonic relationship?" you paced around his room, not caring whether or not he was listening. you just needed to get the day's frustrations out - and where better than anton's comfy and personalised room?
something about the hanging leaves, band posters, the warm lamp in the corner lighting up the room, it was your favourite place to hide when your mother would be in another one of her moods.
"i'm never going to date again. ugh."
"you sure about that?" anton half-heartedly asked.
"yes. if i have to sacrifice our friendship to kiss some guy, then no thanks."
anton turned to you with a smile playing at his lips. he didn't take you seriously at all.
"anton..." you whined. this wasn't funny to you.
"sorry, sorry," he said, but you could still hear the laugh in his voice. instead, he took your hands in his apologetically, the warmth a familiar gesture.
"if you never date again, then i won't either."
"anton, you've never dated."
"well, it's like you said. if i have to sacrifice our friendship to kiss some girl, then it's a no for me too."
he stared at you sincerely. you guys knew you both would probably still go on to date other people, but the promise felt real anyway. what with the way he was staring up at you.
"swearing yourself to celibacy for me? how sweet," you relented, sitting down on his bed, your hands still clasped in his.
suddenly, an idea popped into your head.
using your linked hands to pull him closer, his chair rolled over, knocking against your knees.
"anton, let's make a pact: if we're still both single by the time we're thirty, then let's get married."
18
graduation came faster than anton expected, and he only realises then that he's known you for five years now.
as expected, you and him had taken lots of photos together (wait, when did he get taller than you?), and eventually your families decided to dine together at some fancy restaurant after the ceremony. it a celebration of the two of you leaving high school, and moving onto the next chapter of your lives: university. something you were particularly stressed about.
"why is applying for uni so hard?? i'm just a girl - just accept me!"
anton could empathise with that sentiment - he'd been an exceptional student, yet his lack of curriculars had ended him up on three waitlists, and with one rejection. not to mention how complicated the process was, what with all the different requirements for every university. honestly, he felt like he'd been lied to by all those people telling him not to worry.
looking over at the parents busy in conversation, he noticed that the both of you had finished your meals already.
"can we go? i'm gonna take her out for a drive," he asked them, gesturing to you.
surprised by the sudden plan, you looked to your parents for approval.
"aren't you going to stay for desserts?" your dad asked.
"i'm sure we'll find something sweet on the way," anton replied simply.
"well, i'm okay with it," your dad agreed, looking at anton's parents who nodded back.
you watched him turn to your mother, a silent argument spoken through their eyes. she reluctantly sighs, a sign of surrender, and you cheered on the inside as anton pulled you away and out of the restaurant.
going for drives was something you and anton always did when either was stressed or upset. windows down and music blared as the sky turned an array of colours, it really felt like the movies in moments like this. you sighed contentedly, head propped up on your elbow as you stared outside. the wind combined with ONLY by LeeHi being the only sounds between you and anton.
"ah, i'm not sure if i can do this whole university thing," you confessed your thoughts. "if applying is already this hard, i can't imagine the real thing."
"it won't be this bad. c'mon, we'll be together, right?" anton's voice replied.
"always."
silence engulfed the two of you again.
"i want to do something crazy. something that'll make her mad."
"yeah? any ideas for this crazy plan of yours?"
"hmm... what about..." you trailed off, thinking for a while.
"what about a month-long trip around europe?"
anton's head snapped to you, eyebrows reaching his hairline.
"seriously? she'll actually lose it."
"not that she already hasn't already done so several times before," you grumbled into your elbow. "besides, i'm always sticking to her stupid rules. i just want to do something 'rebellious' before we get thrown back into classes and assignments and homeworks and blah blah blah..."
a pause. then, “let's do it. where do you want to start?"
"really? you'll do it with me?" you perk up, finally looking at him.
"duh," he rolls his eyes, as if you ever leaving him alone was such an unimaginable thought. "let's figure out those visas first though," he added as an afterthought.
19
2 Notifications yn : you free later this week? yn : feels like i haven't seen u in forever
anton sees the notifications later that night, and sighs as he pushes his hair out of his eyes. he takes a quick look at his monthly calendar.
to be truthful, the two of you had been swamped with finals and work this past semester, so you hadn’t been able to hang out as often as you used to.
seeing that the next part of his coursework wasn't due until next saturday, he decided he had just enough time.
anton: what about tmrw? 12pm at café bleu
"i was thinking..." you started. "what if we do another month-long trip this summer? like we did last year.”
anton grunted at the thought.
"honestly, i've stayed up countless nights this sem for this stupid assignment. i wanted to catch up on sleep thus summer.” i don't think i really have the time for another trip.
"oh. that's okay! we're both going back home anyway, so i'll just come over to yours like always."
"sure, if you want to watch me sleep all day."
but the way he said that - it was a clear no. he didn't have the time, not when he was going to spend all summer trying to catch up on missed sleep.
"never mind, then."
the waitress placed your orders in front of you, and the two of you began to eat in terse silence.
looking at him closely, you notice the darkened eyebags, the pale skin, the way he hadn't even bothered to wear a nice outfit. anton had been pretty cold towards you lately, and he felt guilty, but he couldn't help it. stress was a bully everyone was a victim of.
seeing the way your demeanour seemed to shrink, he was hit with a wave of shame and regret, and took hold of your hand.
"hey, remember that show we watched in senior year? it has a prequel movie coming out soon. we should watch it together."
you perked up immediately. "really? when?"
"november, i think."
he frowned when you faltered, but then you said something that completely sent his heart to the ground.
"i can’t. anton, i'm going on a study exchange programme."
19
talking to jake was easy. talking to him was nice.
in the three months since jake arrived from australia, anton and him had quickly become good friends, (although he would never be able to replace you). so of course he's sad that the exchange programme was coming to an end soon, and jake would have to leave for home.
however, that meant you'd be coming back too, and he was far more excited about that. the past three months had felt empty without you, even if you were a bit absent from his life for some time before the programme started.
so anton finds himself at café bleu in the same spot you'd told him about your plans, but this time with jake on the other side.
"we'll stay in touch though, yeah?" jake assured him. "i'll definitely come visit some time, this place is really great."
"i'll be looking forward to it."
"i think you're more looking forward to me leaving though, aye? what with your friend coming back too."
at the mention of you, anton couldn't stop the smile from spreading on his face. he really did miss you.
"yeah, she's my rock. always there for me - well, except for these past three months. hopefully you'll get to meet her when you visit."
"i'd love to meet the girl you've been talking about this whole time!"
"you'd get along well," anton nodded, imagining the three of you sharing a slice of cake at this very café. "hey, why don't i call her right now, and you can meet her? although it's just online."
jake nodded eagerly, "why not?"
pulling up his phone, anton quickly swiped to the favourites tab on his contacts app, and called you. after just two rings, you pick up.
"hey! what's up?" your voice greets him, bringing an instant smile to his face.
"nothing much, just wanted to introduce you to jake - he's the student who came in your place as part of the exchange programme," he introduced the guy, turning on his camera.
"oh, hi!" he hears you say after he turns the screen to face the other.
"hi! nice to finally meet you. hope australia treated you well,” jake starts smoothly.
"trust me, it has. everyone so nice and welcoming, i just love it here."
"sounds like you've settled in nicely, i'm almost sorry you'll have to pack up and leave again. but hey, you'll be back home and reunited with this guy, right?" jake laughed.
"well... about that."
anton knew something was up - your voice had that same tone as when you dropped the bomb that was you leaving for the next three months. just before you said your next line, anton felt his heart sink again like it did the first time.
"i've decided to transfer here.
"anton, i'm staying in australia."
22
once again, anton finds himself in a graduation gown. but for the first time, you're not at his side.
looking at the photos his mother took of him on her phone, he couldn't help but feel a little upset by the lack of you next to him. for the past nine years, he's never had much solo photos; you were always with him, sharing these moments.
but this time 'round, he's completely alone, and your friendship has devolved to instagram mutuals, reduced to liking each other's posts and reacting to stories. the thought leaves a bitter taste in his mouth.
surprisingly, your mother still came to watch him graduate, even if he was only ever just her friend's son.
"oh, anton. you've grown so much since i first met you."
"thank you, auntie," he says awkwardly.
"you know, i miss the two of you. my daughter's all the way in another country, so i barely see you anymore..." she trails off in thought. in the past few years since you left, she seemed to soften up in your absence, no doubt missing you despite the strained relationship between the two of you when you left.
"oh! have you seen the photos? she just graduated herself last week," she fished for her phone in her bag, and began to swipe through her camera roll to show him.
"i wish i could've been there, but i'm not sure she would've wanted that. she's lucky her dad attended instead."
anton shakes his head. "not true, i'm sure she would've wanted you there."
but he wasn’t sure. have your feelings about your mother changed? or were you still upset with her? he doesn’t know. he hasn’t known much about you in a long time.
"i guess we'll never know, will we?"
swiping through more photos, anton's eye caught onto a few of them, where you were standing particularly close to another guy.
"auntie, who's this?"
"ah, him? why, that's her boyfriend, of course." she then turned to look at him oddly. "hasn't she told you?"
he frowned, and shook his head. he's a little off put by the fact that you didn't bother telling him, but then again. you two haven't exactly been friends in a very long time.
and just like that, memories of a pact resurface in his head. it was never going to come true, wasn't it? but if you ended up marrying this guy, anton could never bring himself to watch.
the sound of his friends' voices brought him back to reality. "hey, anton! come over here-" and he forced himself to shake off the thoughts, joining the group instead.
24
anton had been learning to live life without you for the past four or five years now. he had a new friend group, a nice job in the city, his own apartment, all without his best friend. it was hard to unlearn all the mannerisms he didn't even realise he had for you, not until he would get home from the grocery and realise he bought two boxes of sushi like you used to share, or when he'd almost bought a second, folding mattress for when you'd come over for a sleepover, or even just holding an extra hair tie or two on his wrist in case you needed one.
and that was all in the past now, he's finally began to move on from mourning the loss of your friendship. he only thinks about you once in a blue moon, and his life feels like it's no longer on pause.
but you were always cruel to him.
"wait, what?"
right when he'd begun to move on, you came back.
anton stared at you in shock; when he heard the doorbell ring that day, he'd never have expected you to be on the other side. an intelligent 'wait, what?' was all he could muster when he finally registered just what, or who he was seeing.
"hi," you say in that familiar voice of yours. and you almost sound out of breath, although its clear you hadn't run there.
he finally lets you in after a moment, and you explain how you're moving back, and starting at a local company. you tell him about life back in australia, the friends and experiences you made. you tell him about the past five years of your life as if it was just any normal day after high school.
as if you hadn't just completely left him on his own, his other half gone with you.
although the conversation is stilted and awkward, and theres a gap between you that feels wider than the distance between australia and home, anton's still glad to see you. it almost feels unreal, and he wouldn't believe any of this was real if he couldn't feel your weight pushing down on the sofa, or the very essence of you in his living room.
you and anton agree to get coffee some time after you've settled back in, and he asks if you need any help.
"yes, please! its like i brought my whole life from australia back with me, what with all the boxes i need to unpack."
and so, leaning against the door frame, anton watches you walk away again, catching himself wondering if it would be the last time he'd see you again in a while. he had to keep reminding himself that you were back for good.
"oh, and me and my boyfriend broke up."
anton sucks in a breath, and slips his hands in his pocket to hide the shaking. he wasn't sure how he was supposed to feel - angry? relieved? sorry? anton hasn't known how to feel in years.
"just wanted you to know," you spoke into the air, after you received no response from him.
so with an awkward wave, you leave him once again, with a promise to see each other soon.
27
"happy birthday!" people greet as they enter the bar, giving anton a quick hug.
"thank you," he smiles back. "wow, twenty-seven. i feel so old."
"twenty-seven isn't that old," you tell him, hugging him from behind as a surprise. he chuckles and holds onto your arms clasped around his middle for a bit before letting you go sit across him.
"think about it, we've been friends for longer than we haven't!"
"including those four or five years we barely spoke?" you raised an eyebrow at him, taking a sip from your glass.
"shh, what years? we've always been as thick as thieves," anton grins, pinching your cheek.
after you moved back, it didn't take that long to rekindle your previous relationship. somehow, you two picked up right where you left off, like there was never a period in your friendship filled with almost radio silence.
"you two," eunseok sighed with an exasperated but fond tone. "if i didn't know you guys were 'just friends', i would've thought you were dating."
"or married!" sohee shouts from somewhere.
you roll your eyes at your friends and coworkers, the guests. dating allegation were nothing new in your relationship, having suffered from them for over ten years now.
"we have been friends for a while now, huh? fourteen years is pretty crazy."
"i honestly can't remember a time when i didn't know you," anton agrees.
"being 'friends' for longer than you haven't is quite the achievement," wonbin remarks with a knowing look. "personally, i don't have toothbrushes and extra clothes at my house for my friends though."
all this talk of friends and friendship was making your head hurt.
"anton, remember the pact we made at sixteen?"
anton looked at you sharply, knowing exactly what you were referring to, but asking anyway. "no. remind me again?"
with a scoff and a smile, you said, without regard to the fact that everyone was half-listening, "when we promised we'd marry each other by thirty if we were both still single?"
clinks of glass and utensils falling around the two of you, your friends were suddenly more invested in the conversation, not even trying to hide their curiosity.
"you really want to talk about this right now? in front of everyone?" anton murmured, voice low enough just for you to hear.
you stared at him, and then continued.
"well, looks like there's three years left to our promise. three years left to run away from me." that pulled out some laughs.
anton just stared at you with a mix of surprise and uncertainty.
"well, i haven't run away for these last eleven years since, have i?"
whoops and cheers filled the bar; you yourself were surprised with anton's boldness and honesty. you always did wonder why he barely ever dated, only ever having a few flings here and there.
suddenly, you felt a little flustered by his bold declaration, and the implication that he'll wait out the remaining years.
"i..."
suddenly, anton's face morphed into a smirk as he took another sip from his own glass, eyes still on you.
"what's another three years?"
30
"ah, my mom keeps asking when i'm going to settle down," you whine to anton, sitting in his living room as you two share a late midnight snack.
something about it all feels nostalgic, whining and complaining about your mom to him, sitting in his comfy room (or this time, his apartment), with a vinyl record playing in the background. this is home, you decided.
what you don't tell him is that your mom had been more specific with her words.
(when are you and anton going to get married and settle down?? i want grandkids, you know!)
anton laughs lightly, feeding you another sushi. the whole atmosphere was quite domestic, and you wished you could spend the rest of your life like this; with him.
"some things never change, do they?" he remarks with a fond smile. and your heart melts a little.
(hopefully soon, mama.)
"isn't sushi a little heavy for a midnight snack?"
"well, it's not just any midnight, isn't it?" anton asks.
and he's right. it's actually a special one - the night before your birthday.
looking at the clock, you see that it's almost twelve, and you find yourself thinking back on the past twenty-nine years. anton's in most of the memories, something you weren't particularly bothered about. when you two spent that day at the arcade together, something about it all just felt right.
you've always loved change, always wanted more experiences. but one thing you wanted to stay the same forever, was anton being by your side. when you'd gone to australia, it was a slow realisation that some part of you was missing. only when you reunited with anton did you realise why that was.
the soft beeping noise of a clock brought you back from your thoughts, signalling that it was finally twelve o'clock. that you were finally thirty. hearing shuffling behind you, you turn to look at anton for the annual hug and cheer that made your whole birthday.
but instead, you watched in shock as anton sunk onto one knee, and pulled out a box.
"don't look so surprised, now," he chuckles awkwardly. "this was a long time coming."
"i know... i just. i didn't expect you'd do it as soon as i turned thirty," you laughed. "looks like someone couldn't wait any longer."
"can you blame a man who waited fourteen years?"
you shook your head before anton called our your name, even though he already had your full attention.
"my only love, i don't have to hide my feelings anymore. i love you."
with a deep breath, filled with years and years of longing, he finally asked.
"will you marry me?"

HII!!! and happy birthday to you ♡♡ i love ur works sm, for ur special birthday event, could i request — ryomen sukuna, mean, " i love you, and you don't deserve that " ?? AGAIN, HAPPY BIRTHDAY AND HAVE THE BEST YEAR!! (。>﹏<。) feel free to change it up! you're the birthday author afterall<3
AHH these are late, but in my defense I got very drunk then had to work off the hang over lol.
that being said, thank you so much Nonny!! This is so sweet and I feel kinda bad because this one got pretty dark. Trigger warnings for Domestic abuse, non con/dub con implied, emotional abuse and manipulation, and yandere themes. you have been warned, Dead Dove, Do Not Eat.
Now Presenting...
Starring: An cold complicated Ryomen Sukuna, taking it out on a Reader that doesn't deserve it.
There were few things on this earth Sukuna found more vile than humans. Maggots, maybe, but at least maggots served a purpose- they were important to the nutrient cycling of many ecosystems. But what the fuck did human do? They destroyed with reckless abandon, conquered without a second thought, and bread like roaches to continue the destruction long after they were gone. They were creatures of hate. And maybe that’s why Sukuna couldn’t stand them. They were just a little too much like him.
That was all with one exception. Y/n was a human that challenged every thought he had about humans. She was kind and generous, but still not afraid to get her hands dirty for what she believed. She proved that much when she ran out to stop him from destroying some elders home of all fucking things. He didn’t know what was funnier, that she thought she could challenge him, with her meek frame and zero battle experience, or the look on her face when he threw her over his shoulder.
He had planned to throw her to his hoard of underling curses and let them tear her limb from limb. A fitting punishment he thought, she wasn’t really worth his effort. When he got to the throne room, he looked down at the writhing mass of curses below the tall platform his throne sat upon. He watched them all move as one, entangled together in a breathing wet sea of shit and hunger. They needed to eat.
And then he looked at her. The way she clung to his arm, the genuine terror in her eyes. She didn’t look like she had before on the battlefield, so willing to give her life to save another. Now she looked as if her entire being was made of ice and terror, as if she’d shatter if the breeze blew the wrong way. He felt a tightness in his chest, like some otherworldly being was pulling the sinew that laid there apart, cord by cord. And he threw her into his sleeping quarters instead.
And ever since that day all those months ago, Sukuna had been complicated. A fucking human complicated him, it was almost comical. He caught himself being vulnerable around her, and he coludn’t fucking stand it. For every quiet sweet moment they had, he had to double down with two or more acts of brutality to make himself feel better. Except, it never made him feel any fucking better, in fact it made him feel actively fucking worse. The betrayal and hurt behind your eyes always made him feel minuscule, and it only made his hate of you burn even brighter.
It was moments like these that made his skin crawl. When your head was resting on his chest, arms wrapped around your body as best as they could be, legs still trembling in the aftermath of your shared sin. When he realized his heart was calm, and his claws didn’t crave blood in your presence. His reaction to comfort was always visceral anger.
“Get off of me wench.” He growled, jerking his shoulder up and launching you out of your near sleep state. You looked so hurt.
“Oh, this again?” You muttered.
“And what the fuck is that supposed to mean, Whore?” Sukuna scoffed, unable to believe you felt comfortable enough to talk to him with such a tongue.
“Nothing.” You sighed, shaking your head and trying to turn away from him. You didn’t get very far before his talons were digging into your shoulder, forcing you to face him again.
“No no, If you’re going to say something, say it. Don’t try to take the cowardly way out now.” He warned. You shook your head, knowing better than to make eye contact right now.
“I just don’t want to fight-”
“Oh, you think this is a fight?” He laughed, “that would almost be cute if it wasn’t so pathetic.We don't fight Y/n. You forget your place, and I remind you of it. Fighting implies you to be my equal, which you never will be.” he said, his voice dripping in condescension and laced with contempt. His poison shot straight into your heart, coursing through your blood and to your tongue. You were so tired of his bull shit.
“Oh, really?! Is that what happens?!” You laughed back to keep from crying, “Because from my view, You realize you have a heart and get so scared of it, you have to hurt someone smaller than you to feel like a man aga-!” Yea, you weren’t shocked when he struck you. You held your face, knowing there would be a bruise you could take fingerprints off of forming. You’d long since become used to his treatment. He grabbed you by your hair, yanking you to look at him. You could feel individual follicles being pulled from their roots as he raised you off the bed, as he drank in your scream as if it was the finest of wine.
“Listen here Brat,” Ryomen always had a way of making even the most mundane words cut into your soul, “You’d do well to remember who the fuck you are talking to when you speak to me. I am not your friend, I am not your lover, you are fucking nothing to me. You’re less than nothing to me. Wrong me a-fucking-gain and your villiage won’t stop finding pieces of your body.” He snarled, throwing you off the bed.
You braced for impact, but that still didn’t stop the collision from sending sharp waves of anguish through your already bruised ribs. You took in a sharp breath and tried to keep the tears swelling in your eyes from spilling over. He wanted you to cry. You wouldn't give him that satisfaction. You got to your hands and knees as quickly as your body would let you, then sat up as best as you could.
“Do you know what your problem is Sukuna?” You mumbled from the floor. He raised an eyebrow at you, genuinely shocked you had more to say after that. Normally, physical violence shut you up pretty quick.
“And what is that Y/n?” He asked. You took an edge breath in.
“Your problem is that you don’t want to keep being a warlord. You’re tired of it, it bores you, you want to do something else. You found something that only makes that feeling stronger. And you can’t stand it! Because you don’t know who you are. You have no idea who Ryomen Sukuna is without the power and the blood thirst, and that fucking terrifies you.” Sukuna didn’t even argue, and he wasn’t surprised you read him so clearly. You had always seen through him as if he was nothing more than a fragile bubble.
“And do you know what my problem is?” You growled. You waited all of 3 seconds before responding to his silence, “My problem is that I love you. And you don’t deserve that.” A chuckle left Sukuna, but it was humorless. His eyes didn’t hold any anger or angst, he looked as if he was made of stone. He finally got up from the bed, and moved to you. He crouched down to be at your level.
“Things are only going to get worse for you from here on out. I hope you're prepared.” he said, zero emotion making its way to his voice or eyes. He pushed you onto your back before standing up again and leaving the room. Once he was back in his own sleeping quarters, he punched a hole in his wall.
How fucking dare you tell him you loved him! Who the fuck did you think you were?! And why the fuck would you confess that after he threw you to the fucking ground? As if you were nothing more than a used cum rag! He roared as he ripped some random piece of art off the wall and smashed it against the floor, splintering the wooden frame. Your words kept echoing in his head, phantoms that wouldn’t let him rest. I love you, and you don’t deserve it.It made him sick. Because he didn’t deserve it. And because he loved you too, and you truly didn’t deserve that.

💼Part of the Bad Bosses AU💼
As you finish your salad, your mind is already back in the office. Mr. Rogers has a meeting at one with Mr. Stark and he can’t be late for his afternoon conference with a new client. You think to make a note for yourself but are interrupted by a sudden eruption.
You look up as Mrs. Rogers grabs your plate and flings it onto your lap. The vinaigrette oozes onto your dress before you can catch it.
“I knew it--”
“Honey,” Mr. Rogers blinks up as he sets down the crust of his roast beef sandwich, “you said you were busy.”
“Oh, busy!” She blusters and grips the edge of the table, shaking it, “I should’ve known--”
“Huh?” You pick the plate up off your lap and set it flat.
“You!” She jabs her index nail at you, the dangerous sharp point coming close to your nose, “I should’ve known it was you.” She snarls and hits the table with her fist. “How could you, Steve?”
“Honey? We’re just... having a business lunch--”
“Don’t honey me. Don’t lie. I’m done with it,” she snarls. “Why? Who on earth brings their assistant to a place like this for business? Her business is picking up your dry cleaning and bringing you coffee.”
“Mrs. Rogers--” You begin.
“If I were you,” she growls and pinches your ear, “I would be quiet.” You wince and pull away, rubbing your lobe as she retracts and put her wrath back to her husband. “I’m not stupid, late nights, always busy, too tired... I can’t believe I’ve wasted so much time.”
She flips his plate so it hits his chest and slides into his lap. He sits back, stunned, and doesn’t react. His wife stomps out as the other diners stare after the scene. You shrink down in mortification. You can’t believe that just happened. What must people think?
Rogers looks down, his blue eyes distance and grim, pointed at the table cloth. You swallow and grab your napkin to sop up the oily dressing from your clothing. It won’t do much. You stand and near your boss as he shakes his hand, his lips moving in silence.
“Mr. Rogers,” you coax, “are you okay?”
His eyes dart up and he blinks, “I... why would she think that?”
“Sir, things are tense. I’m sure it’ll be okay. She’s just... upset. You can talk it through.”
You take the plate out of his lap and he clears his throat, gathering up the bits of lettuce and crust and dropping them onto the porcelain. You offer him a napkin of his own and pick of a piece of romaine from his shirt. He sighs as he futilely mops up the caesar dressing.
“I don’t know what I did or what to do. Every night I get home and she accuses me,” he crumples up the napkin and his blue eyes meet yours, slowly drifting down to the oil stains on your dress. “I’m sorry she did that to you.”
“It’s just a dress,” you shrug.
“Hmm, how... how do you see the best in everything? In everyone?” He mopes.
“Sir, I don’t necessarily... I just... we’re all human and we’re doing our best. A little time and space and you both will be calmer.”
You hand him another napkin and you step back to deal with the mess on the table. The waitress returns and Steve quietly asks for the bill. You’re aware of the stares but do your best to ignore them.
“I don’t even know why she would assume... you and me,” he rambles as he digs out his wallet. “I... I only wish she could be as optimistic and kind.”
“Mr. Rogers, it’s a misunderstanding,” you assure him gently.
“Is it?” He puts his chin down and frown.
You pick up your purse as he pays. The waitress pretends there isn’t an elephant blowing its trunk right over her as the other tables chitter around you. You leave quickly, hoping to detach Rogers from the emotion and realign.
“Mr. Rogers, we’ll go back to the office and cool down. I’m sure by the time you finish work, she’ll be ready--”
“She hits me,” he says abruptly then chokes audibly. He puts his hand over his mouth and shakes his head. He huffs and drops his arm, “sorry, I shouldn’t tell you.”
You don’t know how to respond. It surprises you as much as it scares you, yet the tenderness in your ear convinces you. Peggy hasn’t shown anything but anger.
“That’s awful, I’m sorry--”
“I... she’s so small compared to me, I never really... I don’t know, it doesn’t really hurt, not on the outside but...” his voice trails off. “I’m so embarrassed that she did that. To you, of all people. Rosie, you’re like the nicest person I’ve ever known. Maybe that’s why I’m saying this to you. Maybe it’s why I’m finally seeing it...” he hangs his head as you walk down the pavement. “Next to you, most people can’t compare, but Peggy, my own wife...”
“Oh, sir, I’m sorry. I don’t know what to say.”
“You can’t-- you don’t--” He sniffs and pushes his blond hair back. “Can I ask you for a favour?”
You stop and look at him as he slows. You face him as he does the same, “sure.”
“A hug?” He suggests, “I know it’s not... appropriate but I’m a little rattled.”
“Oh, sir,” you melt a little bit, “of course. I’m so sorry.”
You coo and open your arms. He embraces you without hesitation, squeezing you tighter than you expect as you run your hand across his broad back. You’re trapped in his arms, crushed by his intensity. He keeps hold of you even as you wriggle.
“Thank you,” he murmurs, “I can’t remember the last time anyone’s hugged me.”
Your heart cracks just a little. You know it might be overly familiar but he can’t help what Peggy did. She quite literally dumped her marital woes in your lap. Well, she’ll have to clean it up. For the time being, you can only keep more from spilling over.

— INAPPROPRIATE FRIENDSHIP
PAIRING — Sauron x fem!Elf!Reader // Celebrimbor x fem!Elf!Reader
SUMMARY — When Lord Celebrimbor abandons all his duties to focus on forging the Rings, Annatar finds an opportunity to take care of the neglected Lady of Eregion.
AUTHOR’S NOTE — I really liked this idea but I felt so bad writing this...!🙈 Like, I'm so sorry, Bimby... 😭 Either way, I don't think I'm going to write a second part because A) I would feel even worse and also B) to be perfectly honest I don't see any happy ending for this story. In my head, the Reader would eventually end up like Mirdania. 💀 Imagine how Celebrimbor would feel like while thinking that he killed his own wife, though!!!1! 🤧 But yeah, I don't want to explore that... 🤣 So, yeah, you get this one shot instead and that has to be enough for now! 💓
WARNINGS — cheating, manipulation, gaslighting, Reader is kinda bewitched with a corrupted item (so you can interpret her desire for Sauron as something beyond her control, therefore without an actual consent), SMUT

INAPPROPRIATE FRIENDSHIP
When Sauron came to Eregion for the first time, he was surprised to meet Lady (Y/N) – Lord Celebrimbor’s wife. She was much younger than her husband both in age and looks. And she was most certainly a woman who loved attention, meanwhile her husband’s focus was mostly set on the creations within his forge instead on her.
As Halbrand, Sauron could feel Lady (Y/N)’s contempt towards him. Perhaps even slight disgust. Something about a human and a commoner – even though believed to be a King – was making her feel uncomfortable and superior. Sauron immediately knew that if he was ever to use her against her husband, he needed a new form. Much nobler and prettier.
As time progressed, even though Halbrand was not around her much, he realised why she was a perfect match for her husband. She adored being the Lady of Eregion and ruling it when Celebrimbor was too busy to deal with the administration matters. But she also loved her husband and all his creations – she seemed to be as proud as him for his craft. My husband made it, she seemed to be saying with her contemptuous eyes full of hubris and greed for power.
And each time Celebrimbor spoke to Halbrand about his beloved wife as he would call her, his eyes were lighting up and sparkling. She was a great Elven lady after all indeed and it surely would be a great pride to have a woman like her by one’s side and to be able to call her a wife.
She was against leaving Middle-earth and against the departure to Valinor for one simple reason – she would no longer be a lady of a whole city where she could be her own mistress. Here, protected by the walls of Eregion, she could even ignore the High King’s commands if that was her wish. Like her husband often did.
Sauron did not know much about her past or the origins of her relationship with Lord Celebrimbor. Halbrand was usually a chatty and curious man but asking too many of such questions could be suspicious. Celebrimbor would get jealous of his wife since it would be no surprise for a common human to fall in love with a beautiful Elven lady.
No, for that he had to wait.
And so he did wait and left Eregion for some time to continue with his schemes and when he came back it was to find out that Lady Galadriel had forbidden Celebrimbor to deal with Halbrand. Using young Elven smith Mirdania, Sauron managed to make Celebrimbor feel sorry for the injured human king spending a night alone in the rain. And so he invited him back to his forge where Halbrand revealed his true self to him – a noble and humble emissary of the Valar and the Lord of Gifts. Annatar.
Annatar was shaped with Lady (Y/N) in mind. Her husband, too, of course. After all, he was supposed to charm Lord Celebrimbor and be able to manipulate him. But Sauron doubted that the great smith would care about his looks so much – he was mostly in awe of the fact that the emissary of the Valar himself came to Eregion to support his work; such a pure and gentle being.
His wife, however, had a certain type she would adore and Sauron knew that already. He contrasted with her husband – younger in looks but not too young since she clearly was not after the young ones. Long, blond hair that made him look regal in an ethereal way. Angelic.
And Lady (Y/N) liked pretty and shiny things but in delicate shapes and forms. Sauron noticed that while observing the jewellery she was wearing. Beautiful pieces forged by her husband – all of them emphasising the pure light of Valinor she was radiating with proudly.
Some of the Elves were so proud of their light and righteousness that it was no longer of a good kind but it was not his intention to make her realise that.
At the time when Halbrand changed his form into Annatar, Lady (Y/N) was out of Eregion – visiting Mirkwood where she was originally from. And Annatar could not wait for her to finally come back home and see him.
You hopped off of your beautiful, grey mare and you patted her back as you nodded at the Elves working in the stables. They bowed their heads and addressed you as their lady while you took your riding gloves off.
The day was sunny and warm. You breathed in the sweet scent as you walked across the city to meet with your husband after your arrival. You knew that he was most likely inside his forge, therefore you wasted no moment and went there without even checking inside your chambers.
Celebrimbor was inside the forge indeed, with an apron on as he was leaning by the desk and studying some projects. And next to him stood an Elf you had not seen before – tall, slim and blond. His robes were humbly grey and he looked up first when you entered the room as his green eyes sparkled and you gasped.
You knew that face.
At the sound of a gasp leaving your mouth, Celebrimbor turned around and smiled widely at the sight of you before approaching you in a hurry to give you a squeeze.
“My beloved, you’re back. How glad I am!” He exclaimed and you caressed his cheek briefly with a smile.
“So am I, my dear. Who is your friend and why do I feel like I know him?” You asked, looking at the man standing behind your husband again. For some reason, you could not stop staring at him.
He was… breathtaking.
“Oh…” Celebrimbor took a step back and blushed slightly. “That is…”
“Annatar,” the man interrupted him with a soft smile and approached you as he reached out for you slightly with his smooth hand. “It is a pleasure to be finally able to properly meet you, Lady of Eregion.”
“Annatar…?” You hummed to yourself but you allowed him to place a kiss upon the palm of your hand and while he was doing so, he looked intensely into your eyes, which made you feel slightly uncomfortable. Your husband, however, seemed to be content with this. Surprisingly.
“The Lord of Gifts,” Celebrimbor explained and you realised immediately he was platonically enamoured with that stranger. “The emissary of the Valar who arrived to assist me in my craft.”
“Please, my friend, you flatter me,” Annatar finally let go of your hand and straightened his back as he chuckled softly. The sound was like honey being poured over your heart. “We are all equals here,” he insisted as he looked back at you and you finally realised where you had known him from.
“Halbrand!” You gasped and Celebrimbor furrowed his brows as if you had just done something distasteful. “You were that human king, were you not, Lord Annatar?”
“I was in disguise, yes,” Annatar nodded at you. He didn’t seem to be offended in any way. “It was a test for your husband and he passed it quite easily.”
“Well, I have not,” you admitted, a little ashamed as you remembered all the times when you had treated Halbrand coldly or contemptuously even though he had shown you nothing but respect or kindness – smiling at you, bowing his head, asking you innocent questions to start a conversation.
There was even a time where you had been sure that… he had a crush on you. Now, of course, it seemed to be a funny thought.
“Mistrust towards humans is understandable. Also, the test was for your husband and not for you, my Lady,” Annatar answered, a little playfully and you sighed out of relief.
“Please. I’m just (Y/N) for a man as noble as you,” you assured him but he shook his head gently.
“I would never dare,” he insisted and it felt oddly nice to hear such words. As if you were a goddess because certainly he was giving you respect worthy of one.
“And what are you working on?” You changed the subject as you approached your husband to wrap your hands around his elbow and look up at him.
“More rings,” Celebrimbor answered and you furrowed your brows.
“More? Gods, what for?” You asked.
“For the Dwarves. Our friends need help, too. Not just the Elves were in trouble. The whole Middle-earth is,” your husband explained and you nodded.
“I know. On my way back from Mirkwood, I had to run from the Orcs a few times on my way. That is concerning how close they are getting to us,” you admitted and Celebrimbor gave you a scolding look.
“You should have not travelled there alone!” He exclaimed.
“I am fine,” you sighed and walked away slightly to approach the table and look at the sketches of the projects.
Celebrimbor looked at Annatar awkwardly as if he wondered if he should get harsher with you when his friend was around but the protectiveness over you won over him.
“Do not dismiss me like that!” He followed you as he stood behind you. “(Y/N), I have every right to worry and I will not allow you to ever again travel so far on your own!”
“You will not allow me?” You asked him as you raised an eyebrow at him, trying not to snap when Annatar was standing there and observing.
“My friend,” he interrupted you and your husband at this very moment as he put his hand on Celebrimbor’s shoulder. “I am sure that the Lady of Eregion is capable of protecting herself and of making decisions on her own. I understand your worry but that is not a reason to attack her.”
You were a little taken aback by his words because attack was not the right word at all – it seemed rather harsh. However, it worked on your husband as he blushed immediately.
“I’m sorry,” he apologised to you.
“You are forgiven,” you assured him with a smile. After all, he was only worried about you and that was nothing unusual.
You didn’t expect an emissary of the Valar to understand the relationship between a husband and a wife, though. He was a pure creature that would never lower himself to such primal feelings and urges. Therefore, in his eyes romantic love must have been like in the fairytales – nothing but noble and innocent, calm and romantic. The ugly reality of it was ungraspable for him.
“I shall leave you to your work now,” you announced and nodded at Annatar once more, feeling his gaze upon you as your own eyes did not want to stop staring at him.
Eventually, you walked out of the forge and took a deep breath in. Why were you attracted to that man? You didn’t even know him much. You had never been this type of woman who would fall for people easily or right after meeting them. Especially since you had been married.
And now… A creature so pure was making you feel so dirty.
Celebrimbor had always been the most devoted to his craft but the amount of neglect he was presenting you with lately was becoming unbearable. He would spend his whole days inside the forge with Lord Annatar and his smiths. In fact, he was barely coming to your chambers and even when he was, it was only to sleep. He would barely exchange a sentence with you.
You did not like being ignored. Like a sunflower would always turn towards the sunlight, you thrived from attention. And yes, of course, the whole Eregion could be all over you since you were their Lady but it would never be the same.
You were sitting in the garden, looking pretty grim while reading a book without any interest in it whatsoever. And that was when Lord Annatar joined you, apparently taking a break from all the work inside the forge. At the sight of him, you looked away with an offended expression.
He still fascinated you but you couldn't help feeling bitter towards him for stealing your husband away from you.
“My Lady,” he started with his usual, gentle voice as he sat on the bench next to you. “I do understand your anger. I am taking all of your husband's attention, aren't I?”
His softness and remorse caused your heart to clench and you turned around to look at his handsome face.
“Anger is a big word, Annatar,” you cracked a smile,” and my husband has always been putting his craft above me,” you admitted.
Because it was true. It had always been like that. Only now you had Annatar to blame.
“That is something I cannot comprehend,” he admitted and you furrowed your brows while reaching out to a delicate necklace on your chest to play with it a little nervously, to release the tension he was causing within you.
“What is?” You asked.
“How could any man lucky enough to be called your husband ever neglect you for anything else. I cannot imagine what could be so important,” he confessed and you felt your cheeks heating up.
“Are you not saving the world, Annatar? That is certainly more important,” you laughed softly.
“Yes, now it is such a case. But has it always been like this? Has your husband's craft always been saving our realm?” He asked and you hummed to yourself before looking away because his green eyes were starting to get a little too intense.
“His craft makes him happy and whatever makes Celebrimbor happy is a delight to me as well,” you whispered. “However, I simply… Miss him,” you admitted.
“What is it that you miss the most about your husband, my Lady?” Annatar asked with a dose of innocence and obliviousness that it didn't make you think of being nosy at all.
And it felt good to have someone equal to talk to. All those Elves surrounding you were no real companions. You were the Lady of their city, therefore they were nothing but servants. Your husband was busy inside the forge and you were quite lonely. You had no one to share the desires of your heart with and Annatar was a pure being, sent to you to help. You could trust him completely.
“I miss being able to talk to him for hours. To talk to someone who understands me and knows me more than I know myself,” you said. “And I miss his closeness.”
“Closeness?” Annatar furrowed his brow and moved a little closer to you on the bench. He reached his hand out as if he was inviting your hand to squeeze his.
And so you did because it was too tempting to reject him instead.
“Like this?” He asked and closed both of his hands now around yours. You felt his thumbs caressing your skin delicately, sending shivers down your spine.
“Y-yes,” you nodded as you gasped. “A-and…”
“His kisses?” He inquired and you froze for a moment before nodding your head as you already parted your lips slightly.
Something about him was drawing you in. His pure light of Valinor was intoxicating in a way that should be concerning because what being so pure would ever inspire such a sin?
Either way, why would you overthink such matters when his soft lips brushed over yours? He made sure that the kiss was nothing but a brief peck – under any other circumstances it could be interpreted as a platonic sign of affection.
And perhaps it was like that for him. Perhaps it was your dirty mind plagued with sinful thoughts.
From the corner of your eye you spotted your husband standing nearby and you got startled, moving away quickly. Your heart began to pound inside your chest and you expected him to get angry since he was known for getting jealous over you. Annatar, however, remained calm.
And Celebrimbor, surprisingly, seemed to be quite stoic as well.
“My friend,” Annatar greeted him with a wide smile. “I have just been talking about you with your wife.”
“Well, I'm delighted to see you two getting along,” Celebrimbor smiled and his smile was the most genuine, which made you tilt your head. Could he truly be so amazed by Annatar to even toss his jealousy aside?
If so, you felt a bit bad for him, therefore you stood up and approached your husband to kiss his cheek as you grabbed his hand with the both of yours.
“My dear, don't you need some rest? You look rather tired,” you pointed out but he only shook his head with a gentle smile.
“No. We must not take breaks if not necessary,” he insisted and nodded at Annatar.
Annatar stood up as well and joined your husband's side. You let go of Celebrimbor and watched them both walk away but the Lord of Gifts turned around once and looked so deep into your eyes that you felt your knees going weak.
And then they left and you went back to reading your book but this time you could focus on it even less.
Two weeks later Annatar joined you on the top of the watchtower where you sometimes liked to stand and stare at the moon. It was the tallest tower of Eregion and perhaps it was not noble or grand since mostly soldiers resided there but none of that was needed to observe the sky.
You turned around slightly and smiled at him. Under the moonlight he presented himself even more angelic. He stood next to you and put his hand next to yours on the balustrade.
“You seem to be melancholic, my Lady,” he pointed out and you chuckled.
“Has my melancholy drawn you here to me?” You asked.
“Not quite,” he admitted. “My Lady, might I ask how you became Celebrimbor’s wife?” He inquired and you furrowed your brows but you did not mind sharing this story with him.
“King Oropher sent my father to Lindon to represent him during the council. My father took my mother and I with him and we stayed in Eregion on the way to rest mid-journey. I left for Lindon a week later already engaged and a year passed before I came here to share my life with Celerimbor,” you explained and he nodded, visibly interested but you could sense his thirst for knowledge was not yet satisfied. “Do you wish to know more? What made me fall in love with him perhaps?”
“Perhaps,” Annatar nodded, a little playfully.
“His talent, his stubbornness,” you smiled. “The way he sometimes acts like a Princess,” you chuckled and so did Annatar. “But beneath that all… In the core… Well, he is… Celebrimbor is kind,” you looked deep into Annatar’s eyes as sudden guilt washed over you.
It was true. Your husband was good at heart. Perhaps more than you and you had always admired him for that. And now what were you doing? Spending time alone with a man who you seemed to be attracted to instead of avoiding him.
“My friend is a lucky man,” Annatar hummed to himself with a hint of a sad smile. “You speak of him so beautifully, my Lady.”
“He does not deserve any less,” you admitted.
“Neither do you,” he insisted and glanced up at the moon. “How strange,” he chuckled with a shy smile as he laid his eyes upon you once more. “When this certain moonlight caught your hair, you seemed the most beautiful lady in all Middle-earth,” he whispered and your eyes widened at his confession, which was rather bold. “But you always are, are you not?”
“Annatar, please, that is nearly blasphemy,” you dismissed him although you obviously enjoyed his phrase.
“I have a gift for you,” he confessed and you furrowed your brows. “That is the real reason why I followed you here. I wanted to give it to you without witnesses because I have forged it in secret,” he added, mysteriously, while he put his hand inside the pocket inside of his robes. And then he handed you… a necklace.
It was the most beautiful necklace you had ever seen, though. Something about the details and the way the stone reflected the moonlight was captivating and breathtaking. It was exactly in the style that you enjoyed the most as well. You gasped at the sight.
“It is for you to wear because of our friendship,” Annatar explained as he handed you the necklace for you to take a better look at it. “I am the Lord of Gifts, after all. However, I am aware some people could interpret this gesture in a wrong way. That is why I wanted to give it to you in privacy with only the moon to witness,” he added and you nodded at him, understanding perfectly.
“Thank you… That is so… thoughtful. Especially when you are so busy with matters of such great importance,” you pointed out and handed him the necklace back, which made him furrow his brows. “Would you help me put it on?”
Annatar’s facial expression changed immediately as he smiled widely and nodded before taking the necklace from you. You turned around and gathered your hair to give him access to your exposed neck.
When his slim and delicate fingers brushed the sensitive skin there, you trembled slightly. And you could not help the feeling that his touch was lingering there for much longer than it was needed. However, you did not complain. And when the necklace was already clasped behind your neck, you turned around and his eyes sparkled at the sight of you wearing it. He reached his right hand out to put it over the pendant, which also meant the intimacy of being touched on your chest. He could feel your heartbeat now and you were sure he could sense how fast it was getting.
“I would like you to never take it off, my Lady,” he insisted. “I have forged it in a special way, just for you. It is a charm now; an amulet, and it is supposed to protect you in those dark times.”
Your eyes widened. It was rather surprising to get such a special treatment from him but at the same time your ego was very happy with it.
“You mean the world to my dearest friend. I could never allow anything bad to happen to you because the state of his mind is getting fragile already,” Annatar added and his words caused you to tilt your head.
“State of his mind? What is wrong?” You bit on your lower lip and you noticed Annatar’s eyes staring at your mouth nearly hungrily. When he caught you seeing that, he lowered his gaze and focused his eyesight on your chest – rising up and down with his pendant between your breasts squeezed with a corset underneath your gown.
“That is nothing for you to worry about,” Annatar whispered and moved his hand up to grab you by your chin gently.
“I am his wife. How can you expect me not to–” you began but he interrupted you with a gentle kiss.
It was a peck again and it was delicate. Perhaps it could be interpreted as platonic, too. If one was delusional enough but you were not.
For the sake of your marriage and your friendship with Annatar, you had to be, though.
It made you wonder, though, what his nature truly was like. Should not the messengers of the Valar be pure and free of such urges?
“That was inappropriate,” you commented, taking a deep breath in and looking into his eyes. You already forgot the whole thing about your husband’s state of mind.
Annatar looked confused and hurt by your comment.
“Why, my Lady? Are we not friends? What was inappropriate about a little peck on the lips?” He asked, visibly hurt. It made you feel stupid. What if it had been nothing but an innocent gesture and it was your odd fascination and attraction that had interpreted it in this sinful way?
“I… I am sorry,” you mumbled.
“Sometimes, we see what we want to see. Instead of perceiving the things the way they truly are,” Annatar pointed out and you nodded, ashamed of yourself. “I am quite surprised that a lady as noble as you would ever accuse me of such an act,” he added, making you feel even worse.
“Please, forgive me. I… I might have overreacted but it is not caused by my mistrust towards you. It is simply because of my loyalty towards my husband,” you insisted and Annatar’s face softened a little but when you nodded at him to gather your skirts and walk away, you could see he still looked pretty hurt.
Just like Annatar had asked you to, you were not taking the new necklace off. Your husband never asked about it, though, too focused on his work. Perhaps it was for the better because your mind was getting constantly plagued with thoughts that you wished not to have at all – visions of Annatar. Fantasies, dreams; whatever they were.
He had been occupying your mind ever since you had met him but it had never been so excessive and inappropriate. Each time it was happening, you could feel the beautiful necklace pulsating on your skin but at the same time you could not find the strength within you to take it off.
It was like an obsession but it was happening against your will. But was it? Was it really?
Despite your awkward behaviour on the watchtower, Annatar had not given up on your friendship. You were spending more time with him than with Celebrimbor these days. He was a good listener and very gentle with you. The way he was staring at you was making you feel like you were the most important creature in all Middle-earth. He seemed to be very protective of you as well, constantly reaching out and initiating the physical touch. And the touch itself was soothing and delicate like everything about him.
But what pained you the most was that his work was of the same kind as your husband’s and yet – Celebrimbor did not make any effort to spend more time with you, meanwhile Annatar was your constant companion.
The constancy of his presence was making you feel embarrassed, though, because how could you laugh with him or look into his soft eyes while you knew very well that a few hours earlier you had woken up all sweaty after dreaming of his kisses and his touch lingering all over your naked body? Yet, it was a sweet torture to endure.
On that evening you did not expect Annatar to come to you because you had spent quite a long time already during the day and you knew that he was busy working inside the forge with your husband. Therefore, you opened the windows slightly, letting the cool breeze in and, alone as usual these days, you sat by the vanity table to brush your hair.
The pendant on the necklace from Annatar pulsated slightly on your naked skin as it sparkled in the moonlight. You touched it gently with your fingertips, already sensing what was coming. Another vision, another fantasy.
You had given up already on fighting them. They were the only nice thing happening to your neglected flesh lately. So, you sighed and put the brush down as you stood up and laid down on the silky and cold sheets of your bed. Your sheer nightgown pulled up to your hips and you dipped your finger between your folds, sighing at how wet you already were.
Your finger gathered the wetness and smeared it all over your bumpy and swollen clit that seemed to pulsate under your touch alongside the pendant stuck to the sweaty skin of your chest.
With your free hand you roamed under the nightgown’s fabric and squeezed your breast before rubbing circles around your perky nipples. Letting out a moan, you bucked your hips up into the cold air as your thumb was pressing the tingly spot between your legs, massaging it gently and causing your sight to get hazy.
And all you could think of was him – Annatar. You remembered how close he had been sitting to you on that day, how he had been leaning in and his hair had been tickling your face as his nose nearly brushed yours. How sweet his breath had felt upon your face and how his big and delicate hands had been holding yours.
Gods, what would it be like to be his wife instead of your husband’s? He would never neglect you, he would never make you feel unwanted. He would worship you like a goddess, kiss every inch of your body and praise you. And imagining that was what caused you to shiver as goosebumps appeared all over your skin.
You moved your hand from your breast to put two of your fingers inside your needy hole clenching around nothing; with your sweet juice leaking out of it after all those sinful visions. Fucking yourself with two of your curled fingers, hitting the very same spot your thumb was massaging but from the inside, was enough to make you cum with a cry muffled by the pillow. The intensity but also frustration that it had been nothing but your own touch satisfying your needs caused a few tears to stream down your cheeks.
As you laid there, trying to compose yourself and catch your breath, you heard someone knocking upon the door. You froze for a moment, not knowing what to do. However, pretending to not be inside was foolish because where else would you be at that time?
So, you stood up quickly and allowed the nightgown to fall down as you quickly fixed your hair in the mirror and walked up to the doors to open them.
At the sight of Annatar himself, you gasped and felt your cheeks heating up.
“A-Annatar… What are you doing here at this hour?” You asked, your voice trembling slightly and your chest still rising up and down fast.
“Thank Gods you are safe, my Lady,” he sighed out of relief and you furrowed your brows. “Forgive me, I had some odd sort of feeling that you were in danger. That you needed me to help you,” he explained and you only looked away at those words.
“I… I am fine,” you assured him but your voice trembled.
“Are you sure? My Lady, you seem to be feverish,” he pointed out and put the palm of his hand on your forehead. “You are burning hot,” he added and you laid your eyes upon him again.
“It is not caused by illness. Please, I am fine,” you said but he was already inside your chambers and closing the doors behind him with his foot. “Annatar, what are you doing? We should not be alone in here,” you pointed out but his eyes sparkled.
“Something tells me that you need my assistance, after all. Please, let me fix whatever is bothering you. I was sent to Eregion to help,” he insisted and you chuckled at that. He had no idea of how dirty your desires could be.
Or… did he?
He lowered his hand and pulled the sheer fabric of your nightgown up slightly to be able to touch you between your legs. When you felt his slim and cold finger brushing your still wet cunt, you gasped and moaned uncontrollably. He laughed softly at that.
“You have been pleasuring yourself, my Lady,” he pointed out. “Are you that neglected by my friend?” He asked.
“You… You have no idea,” you whispered and rutted your hips forward nearly instinctively, like an animal driven by primal urges – you had no shame and practically humped his hand while writhing slightly. You had to put your hands on his shoulders to be steady.
“I think I do,” Annatar whispered softly and leaned in so his face was closer to yours. He curled two of his fingers and you whined when you felt them on your swollen clit, still sensitive after your first orgasm. “Please, relax, my Lady. Let me ease you, let me help…” He breathed out and you nodded while wincing out of pleasure when his fingers caught your bumpy clit between them and squeezed gently, causing you to shiver and let out a cry. “So responsive, so sensitive…” He hummed and rolled your clit between his fingers. “Gods, what beauty you are when you are writhing out of desire and pleasure. If I was your husband, I would only want to defile you over and over.”
His words were dirty and they should concern you deeply but they were only making you lose your mind even further instead. You were stripped of all of your shame now as you dug your fingers into his shoulders and bucked your hips up and down, riding his hand and moaning like a bitch in heat. Release was all that you cared about and you had a feeling already deep in your tummy that this orgasm would wash over you with intensity that you had not known in ages.
“Please…” You whimpered.
“I am not denying you, my Lady,” Annatar smiled teasingly and put more pressure onto your clit as you hissed. “You have to work for it yourself.”
“I… I need you to…” You squeezed your eyes shut but still tried to let out a coherent sentence out of your parted lips. “I need you to tell me when. Command me,” you pleaded.
Something about him was turning you into a completely submissive whore and it was a sensation brand new but also incredibly pleasurable because nothing felt better than to just submit and follow orders. Your head was empty while all that mattered was your next orgasm and Annatar’s overlooming presence.
Dark presence, you noticed that now but you did not care anymore, humping his hand like there was no tomorrow.
He seemed to like your words as he smirked. But instead of gifting you with what you were craving the most, he retreated his hand and watched your whines with satisfaction. You were dizzy and trembling, still bucking your hips into nothing as you felt your juices leaking out of your needy and greedy cunt.
“Sit down,” Annatar ordered, his voice harsher than usual and his eyes turning darker.
You obeyed him instantly, pulling your nightgown all the way up before you sat up on your bed with a big and fluffy pillow behind your back. Opening your wet and trembling legs for him, greedily requesting for his assistance felt as if you were a goddess that was about to be worshipped on an altar.
Annatar practically growled when he joined you on the bed and lowered himself to breathe in your sweet scent. You felt his breath on your hot cunt and whined at that soft stimulation as your clit twitched needily.
“This is torture…” You whined and threw your head back.
“Not nearly as much as it was a torture for me to watch you all that time and knowing you could never be mine,” Annatar confessed as he placed a few soft kisses upon your trembling thighs. “You have no idea how often I dreamt of this. Ever since I came here in my lower form that has disgusted you so much…” He teased as if he knew that at this moment your desire was too big to be picky. You would even let that commoner Halbrand between your legs to devour you. This thought alone was enough to make you whimper and buck your hips up impatiently. “Shh… Shh…” Annatar shushed you before finally licking a wet, fat stripe up your cunt, causing you to shiver and squeeze your eyes shut even tighter.
He grabbed you by your thighs and forced them open as much as he could, exposing all of your pulsating and swollen clit. However, he ignored it for now and allowed the tip of his tongue to dip in between your folds and gather your wetness with it while teasing your clenching hole. You laid your hands on top of his and squeezed his wrists out of pleasure and frustration.
And then he finally moved his tongue up and teased your clit from underneath, causing you to cuss as a shiver went down your body straight to your toes. He teased that sensitive spot a few times before placing a gentle kiss on the top of your clit and eventually sucking on it greedily, making you see nothing but hot white.
You were lost in pleasure and in all the sensations of your flesh. In fact, you had no idea where you were and what your name was. You only cared to be with Annatar and to be pleasured by him. If you had been born to be nothing but his whore, you would be happy with that for sure.
Whining and trembling with your head thrown back and eyes squeezed shut, you could not hear your husband approaching and you certainly could not see him opening the doors slightly and freezing at the sight of Annatar pleasuring his wife with his mouth as she writhed like a common whore.
Celebrimbor stood there, petrified, not knowing what to do. The still-sane part of him was furious but some part of him was fascinated and even… honoured. Not knowing what to do, he just stood there and watched. And that was when Annatar looked up from between his wife’s legs and stared deep into Celebrimbor’s eyes while licking a fat stripe as his eyes sparkled mischievously.
You were close, so close, but he knew exactly what to do to keep you on the edge. Whenever he sucked you neary dry and felt your muscles tensing, he would let go of your clit and go back to teasing your folds slightly. But then, he decided it was time to finally give you your release as he entered two of his curled fingers deep into your cunt. Your walls clenched around them, trying to suck them in and he began to fuck you with them as quickly as he could, watching in awe how your juices were coating his hand and the most depraved sound filled your chambers.
While his two fingers fucked you mercilessly, he put his thumb over your sensitive clit and pressed on it, making you moan.
“Now,” he ordered you harshly but you could not know that he was looking into your husband’s eyes while doing so. “Ease yourself, my Lady,” he cooed to you. “Let yourself go,” he added and at that command you fell apart around his fingers while trembling and gasping for air, twisting your limbs out of pleasure. The intensity of this orgasm was so big that you kept shaking and bucking your hips up even when it was long gone.
Annatar leaned in to place one last kiss upon your swollen clit as he looked up to meet Celebrimbor’s eyes once more.
“Now, rest, my Lady, you deserve it,” he whispered and put the blanket over you before moving up to be on your level. You opened your hazy eyes to see his face and he smiled gently while caressing your hot cheek. “What a delight you are to me. Come to me next time you feel the itch, I would never neglect your desires.”
You were too tired to answer that, so you simply smiled and closed your eyes, falling asleep nearly right after that.
At the sight of you asleep, Annatar fixed his hair nonchalantly and walked out of your chambers, walking by Celebrimbor who was staring at him with widened eyes.
“What seems to be the problem, my friend?” Annatar asked him, gently, as if nothing had just happened.
“I… I don’t know what to think of that,” Celebrimbor confessed.
“You neglect her for the forge and I keep her happy for you. You can focus on your lifetime’s work and your legacy while your wife remains satisfied. Is that not perfect?” Annatar asked him as if he was accusing his friend of being ungrateful.
“Yes, but…”
“Do you doubt me, my friend?” Annatar asked him, quite harshly.
“N-no… Never,” Celebrimbor shook his head. “And it is an honour, I admit… My wife being graced with your touch… I–”
“Do not worry then,” Annatar patted his shoulder. “Focus on our craft instead and allow me to take care of the rest,” he added before walking away and leaving Celebrimbor alone with his thoughts, which were nothing but a mess.
And with his wife sleeping like a baby in their bed, with her thighs still sticky from her juices mixed with the Dark Lord’s saliva and a necklace corrupted with his thick, black blood around her neck.
Sauron smirked to himself. Oh, how he loved to fuck with their minds. Nearly as much as he loved to fuck her, he thought, as he licked his lips to be able to taste her again. How sweet.
It would nearly be a shame to get rid of her later, when the right time would come.

𝐀𝐍𝐘𝐓𝐇𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐁𝐔𝐓 𝐘𝐎𝐔 ━━ ❛ 𝐅𝐑𝐈𝐄𝐍𝐃 𝐎𝐅 𝐀 𝐅𝐑𝐈𝐄𝐍𝐃 ❜
chapter no. 001!
𝗈𝗈𝗈. ⠀CONTENT : paige “with” another girl (for the plot). reader is so terribly down bad. also, i don’t proofread so if you see typos or grammar mistakes i’m sorry. and this chapter is kinda boring but it's necessary soo.
𝗈𝗈𝗈. ⠀ WORD COUNT : 1.5k
𝗈𝗈𝗈. ⠀AUTHORS NOTE : yall seemed to like the prologue so i hope yall like this too!!
THEY’RE KISSING. and she’s enjoying it, by the looks of it. you can tell because she’s doing that thing where she pulls the other person closer like they could never be close enough. the thing she used to do to you.
it’s almost comical that the first time you see paige again, she’s kissing some other girl with eyes like yours outside the diner where you and the girls were. she thinks she’s being sneaky (she’s not). she always thought she was sneaky, you remember that much. in fact, you somehow remember everything about the blonde except what her lips tasted like. so of course you’re a little jealous, feeling a bit out of the loop. that’s normal. right? and maybe definitely it’s stupid to mourn so deeply over a relationship that you ended but, whatever, you can’t help that you miss her.
there was nothing human about the feeling, it was more like a typhoon or a volcanic eruption, something so completely out of your control. it was purely sickening…but whenever you see the peroxide-blonde with someone new, you find yourself apprehensively scanning their hair, their skin, the words that they would say –– always finding a hint of yourself within them. the delusional part of you wanted that to mean she still wanted you, but logic said that maybe she just started having a type. but then you’d think back to before…the paige before you never had a specific type. but since you? there’s an unmistakable one. but that’s not enough proof that she still feels for you. in fact, it’s nothing. it’s hard not to see yourself when you’re actively looking for it. you’d keep up with the torture by staring at paige kissing that girl through the window but then you feel a sharp kick to your shin from underneath the table.
“stop staring, perv.” nika mutters, rolling her eyes lightly. although nika was one of the few people who knew about the dead relationship, she didn’t know that your feelings for paige still lingered. she only knew what paige told her, that the two of you were friends.
“i wasn’t ––”
“you were.”
okay –– maybe you were. you sigh silently to yourself, taking a sip of your milkshake. this is the first time you’re actually hanging out with your friends together rather than just one on one (which you only did because you didn’t want to see paige). the two of you agreed to be friends but that was clearly not going to happen. however, you felt bad for denying your friends every time they asked to spend time with you. so, you sucked up your pride. you could spend an hour in paige’s presence, it wouldn’t kill you. at least not literally.
angel, a redhead who shares a dorm with nika and a major with you, is sitting in between azzi and you. she’s eyeing you carefully, after all, the two of you are very close and she knows why you and paige broke up. she also knows that you still care about her. her gaze is simultaneously suffocating and protective.
“...are you okay?” she whispers only loud enough for you to hear. you simply nod, munching on your fries trying not to look out of the window again. in truth, your head was spinning. you haven’t seen paige face to face since the breakup. you were hoping you’d never have to again…
then she finally enters, walking up to the booth. every step she takes is just as confident as they always are. her hair is down, running across the length of her back. her eyes meet yours, they’re more familiar than your own name. her beauty is still unquestionable –– but you wouldn’t admit it. it would make looking away from her even more difficult. so instead you pretend not to look as she sits down at the booth right next to nika…right in front of you. she pokes nika’s side just to piss her off before snatching a fry from angel’s plate and dipping it in her own milkshake. angel rolls her eyes but says nothing.
“that’s disgusting.” nika turns up her nose as paige bites it.
“don’t knock it till you try it.” paige dramatically licks her fingers. nika makes a fist, gently hitting the table a few times with her knuckles. you chuckle at nika’s attitude.
“what are you giggling about? you used to like it too.” paige mutters, smiling lightly but her words send a pang to your chest. nobody else seems to catch the bitterness in her tone….but you do. her eyes look almost guilty when she sees the sharp intake of breath you take. but before she could say anything else, you look away. you avoid her eye contact like it’s deadly.
nika clears her throat, eventually sensing the tension, and turns her attention to azzi whose eyes are close and head is rested against the booth. “you okay?”
“mhm…just really tired.” she mutters, opening her eyes to sip her lemonade.
you chuckle. “i bet you are, we stayed up all last night studying.”
“finals?” angel questions.
“yeah…” azzi mumbles.
“can we please not talk about that right now?” paige groans.
“says you, scholar athlete.” azzi mutters, rolling her eyes at the blonde.
“she’s too busy with that girl to focus on studying these days.” nika chuckles. angel looks over at you for a quick moment but you keep your gaze steady on your plate.
you nearly jump out of your skin trying to relax your tensing shoulders before someone notices. you ended things with her…she couldn’t even call you her girlfriend. so why did it hurt so much to even hear of someone else in your place? this wasn’t exactly the plan, you were meant to move on by now. but seeing her…again…all you can wonder is what she’s thinking about right now.
“who? cleo?” paige snorts. “we’re not talking about that either.”
cleo. cleo. the girl who just had her tongue down paige’s throat no less than ten minutes ago. you feel sick to your stomach at the mention but you hide it well, then you feel sicker when you think about how pathetic it is that you even felt this way to begin with. it’s just another indignity among many.
“why not?” nika mutters. “it’s more interesting than talking about studying.”
“true.” azzi adds.
paige looks over at you, her way of saying that she’s not going to talk about another girl in front of you. “where’s aubrey?”
you appreciate the conversation shift even if you know it’s in vain. they want to know about this mystery girl and honestly, so do you.
“late.” nika mutters.
“i ordered her food for her.” angel smiles softly.
“and she’s gonna wanna talk about the girl too.” azzi chuckles. angel’s leg shakes underneath the table, she’s clearly empathetic for you. she knows the girls don’t mean to hurt you but she also knows that it is hurting you. you wanted to relax her, make her feel less guilty for not saying anything even if she wasn’t participating in the conversation.
so you chuckle lightly, pretending to be completely fine and say, “can you please be still?”
“can you please be still?” you sigh softly, braiding her hair in its signature style. paige is sitting in front of you on the bed with her legs crossed. she has a game later, and she asked you to braid her hair for her.
“you’re pretty.” paige mumbles as you finish up her first braid, still squirming at your touch.
for a second you almost forget yourself, paige being damn near sickeningly sweet. she seems to notice how her words have temporarily struck you, pride swelling within her since she loves making you happy.
you shrug it off and remember that her back is facing you, so you chuckle at her commenting on your appearance. “you can’t even see me.”
“i don’t have to. i’m thinking about how your face looks right now.” she turns back to look at you over her shoulder. “pretty.”
you bite back a smile, turning her head back so you can braid the other side. “you’re corny, you know that?”
“i’m enamored.”
“oh, someone learned a new word.” you snort, continuing braiding her hair, being as gentle as you can with her. (though it gets increasingly difficult when she won’t stop moving).
“shut up.” she mutters. “i’m super smart.”
you finish braiding her hair, tapping her side to let her know that you’re done and she can go look. she stands up from the bed, long legs taking her to the dresser which has a mirror over it, she eyes her braids carefully. “they’re a little crooked, babe.”
you roll your eyes. “cause you wouldn’t stop mo––”
she turns back your way, walking back to you. paige towers over you while you sit on the bed, she puts a hand under your chin and kisses you. “i’m joking. they’re perfect. thank you, baby.”
“anything for you…” you whisper back and your words make her smile. it’s wide and toothy –– the most beautiful thing you’ve ever seen.

Whatever It Takes
Pairing: Loki Laufeyson x Female!Reader
Word Count: ~1.5k
Warnings: angst, hating loki for what he's done, only one bed trope
Summary: You hate Loki and everything he stands for. He ruined a bunch of lives, and you don't want to hear some bullshit on how the mind stone influenced him. He knows he's not a bad person, and he has to figure out a way to prove that to you.
Squares Filled: “god, if only you knew what you did to me.” (2021) for @lokibingo
Author’s Note: any and all comments are appreciated <3
x
You take some puzzle books and shove them into your bag along with some coloring books and markers. Where you’re going is known to have spotty Wi-Fi service despite you having the best service, so you’re making sure to bring something to do when you can’t get online. The last thing you put into your bag is noise-canceling headphones so you don’t have to listen to Loki yap the whole time.
The thought of him makes you so angry. You slam your headphones into your bag and zip it up angrily. You’re more than happy to go on missions for the team, but you’re not happy with going on missions that Loki is going on. Even worse, you two are going to be alone for this one. This is a highly sensitive mission that can only have a couple of people on it, and they chose you and him.
You haul your bag to the living room where Natasha and Tony are waiting for you. Loki is still getting ready but he can take his fucking time. You don’t like Loki and you’re not shy about it. Everyone, including him, knows your dislike for him.
“Where’s the fire?” Nat asks when you stomp past her.
“I don’t know why I’m going on this mission. Why can’t you go?”
“You can hack your way through anything. Right now, we need that skill. I’m not a hacker. I kill things to get what I want. You sneak in the back door.”
“Okay, why does he have to go?”
“He’s a master of illusions. You’re the perfect pair.”
“Don’t call us that,” you roll your eyes. “It’s bad enough I have to go with him, but going alone? Why do I have to be alone with him? Come with us.”
“You know why we can’t. The less people, the better. It’s only for a week. You can handle being with him for a week. I’ll even take your next two missions for you.”
“Fine,” you sigh. “Let’s get this over with. Loki! Hurry up!”
Loki appears seconds after you call him with his bag slung over his shoulder. He knows you don’t like him. You make sure everyone knows it whenever you’re within close proximity to him. He doesn't feed into your dislike because that would only egg you on so he silently takes whatever you give to him. It’s cute how angry you can get at him.
Your anger is justifiable. After all, he is the one who fucked with New York and brought an alien race to kill humans. He took Clint and used him as a puppet for his own greed. He killed eighty people in two days. He’s the one who let the Dark Elves into Asgard, causing a war to be brought to Earth. He’s not a good person despite him telling you over and over again that the mind stone influenced him for most of it.
“Have fun, you two,” Tony smirks, “but not too much fun.”
“Gag me,” you roll your eyes. “It’s not going to happen.”
You take your bag to the car while Loki stays behind with Nat and Tony.
“Be gentle with her. I don’t need her coming back in pieces.”
“I’ll check in in a few days,” Loki chuckles and walks out to the car. You fit your bag in the trunk leaving just enough room for Loki’s bag. He heaves it into the car and shuts the trunk. “Give me the keys.”
“Hell no. I’m driving.”
“Darling, you’re a terrible driver.”
“No, I’m not, and I’m not going to let you drive. I don’t trust you behind the wheel with my life in your hands. I’m driving and you can back the fuck off.”
Loki could have won this entire argument if he wanted to, but he’ll let you have this one. If you two are going to be stuck with each other for a week, he’s gonna have to pick his battles around you. This won’t be the only fight and it certainly isn’t the last.
You two pile into the car, and you’re off. Loki turns to you to say something but you immediately turn the music on so you can’t hear him. Loki sighs and lets you have your tantrum, but he does want to talk to you. He lowers the music to speak but you cut him off.
“Let’s get one thing straight, shall we? We’re doing this mission together but that’s all this is. The mission. I don’t want to talk to you unless it’s work-related. Got it?”
“You’ve got to talk to me sooner or later about something else.”
“I choose later,” you smile sweetly and turn the music up again.
Tony is responsible for your shelter and he picks the worst fucking place on the planet. The motel he chose is run-down and old with the sidewalk chopped up, the paint in the parking lots is so faded it’s hard to tell where the next parking spot is, the building looks like it’s going to collapse any second, and the numbers on the doors are no longer there. Only a faded shadow of what was.
The inside isn’t much better, but what did you expect? The people you’re targeting are weapons dealers who choose places like this for a reason. No one would go looking for someone if they were here. Tony is one of your good friends but you’ve always hated his sense of humor. If you call him now, he’s going to say it’s a mistake on his part because there is only one bed. One bed that you and Loki have to share.
“Are you fucking kidding me?” you huff out in anger.
“It’s only a bed, love,” Loki says and walks inside.
“I’m sleeping on the floor.”
“Be my guest.”
It’s already too late to do anything so you two get ready for bed. You grab two pillows and drop them on the floor. This isn’t going to be very comfortable but you’ll do it if it means not sharing a bed with Loki. After you brush your teeth, Loki prepares to take a shower. He closes the door before he gets undressed, and you glance over in curiosity. He hasn’t closed the door all the way so you can see him through the sliver.
His back is turned to you but damn, it’s a muscular back. He may be lean but he has well-defined muscles. Thor likes to show his off while Loki is more reserved. His pale skin glistens in the dim glow of the bathroom light, and you look away before he catches you staring. Yes, he’s quite handsome for a God. You’re not blind, you have eyes. No, stop it. He’s a bad person. He’s not handsome.
You shake your head and grab the top blanket layer on the bed to get comfortable. Your back is going to hurt the whole time you’re here but you refuse to sleep on the same bed as him. Loki finishes his shower quickly and quickly changes into silk pajamas. Of course, this motherfucker would have silk pajamas.
He walks out as he’s drying his hair and scoffs when he sees you on the ground.
“Really? You’re going to sleep on the floor?”
“Yes, now go to bed.”
“You can have the bed.”
“No, you take it. I’m fine down here,” you say stubbornly.
Loki sighs and doesn't argue as he gets into bed. An hour after the lights are out, you’re no closer to sleep than you were before. Every time you move, you end up knocking some part of your body onto the cold ground, and it’s starting to piss Loki off.
“Darling, come up here,” Loki finally says.
“No.”
“I will pick you up off this floor and tie you to the bed if you don’t get in it yourself.” If you’re being honest, the thought turns you on. He will make good on his promise so you stand up and transfer the pillows and blanket to the bed. You get in it but stay at the very edge. There is no way you’re going to be touching him in any way. “You’re being a child.”
“Shut up and go to bed.” You close your eyes to get some sleep when you feel his cold hand on your skin. Chills run down your spine but you’re not sure if it’s from how cold he is or if you’re turned on. You quickly slap his hand away before you get your answer. “Don’t touch me.”
Loki chuckles and lays on his back. An hour later, he can hear your soft snores that he finds adorable. Knowing he’s safe, he grabs your waist and pulls you into him. Subconsciously, you snuggle into him which makes him smile. He runs the back of his finger down your cheek gently so as to not wake you up.
“God, if only you knew what you did to me,” he mutters.
He has to find a way to make you see he’s not a bad guy, and he’ll do it for the rest of his life if that’s what it takes.

A lovely mess // CL16
Pairing: Charles Leclerc / Original Female Character
Summary: Four times Charles overreacted to becoming a father and one he actually failed to react. Or Charles being a mess through the best and most scary adventure of his life.
Warnings: None, this is pure wholesomeness.
Author’s Note: This one was inspired by some stories my own dad and uncle told me about the times they had their first children. Yes, some of those stories are based on things my father did when him and my mom were expecting me hahahaha. Rate: PG
•••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••
Every man reacts differently to pregnancy, but the most common response is just simply becoming a mess of a human being. And because of that, Charles, for once in his life, could be considerer an average man. He had been exceptional his whole life: excellent student at school, talented in arts, languages and sports, remarkable people skills and loved by everyone. People assumed that he was going to be an exceptional father too, and he knew he was committed to the role since day one, but none of that made the experience less scary. The monegasque had always want kids, he had always pictured himself growing old with a woman he loved and raising a bunch of little humans. When he knocked up his girlfriend he was definitely not planning on becoming a father so soon in his life, but he was happy nonetheless. His history with his girlfriend was kind of complicated too, her family didn't like him much, or more precisely the fact that Charles' job made her travel around the globe, away from her family all the time. He knew that he loved her more than he had ever loved anyone in his life, he knew that every time he pictured himself in the future, that future was shared with her, but it would be a lie if he'd say that the pregnancy didn't complicate things. His in-laws weren't too happy when they found out and Charles' mother was kind of worried about the whole situation. But Charles and his girl loved that little "accident" more than life itself and they actually never cared too much about anyone else's opinions. He convinced his girlfriend to move in with him and she also agreed on keep traveling with him until she ultimately had to stay home for the baby's safety.
"Is six weeks really that bad, Amour? I mean, maybe you're jet lagged or something". Charles nervously wondered from sitting at the bottom of the bed, his girl anxiously pacing around the room.
"That's not how periods work, Charlie". She was trying to stay calm and not bark at him, but that was a difficult task.
"Then let's buy a test and find out". He got up and started walking to the door when she grabbed his arm.
"Wait! You can't just go to a pharmacy and buy a test!". She looked at him like he was insane.
"Why not?". If there was someone humble enough to always forget he's rich and famous, that was Charles.
"Because you're Charles fucking Leclerc, that's why!". She let go of his arm and ran her hand down her face, exasperated. "The press is going to have a field day if you do that".
"Shit, you're right". He sighed and his shoulders sunk. He could see her shaking, scared and stressed and all he wanted to do was give her answers so she could get some peace of mind. "I'm sorry, Amour, I just don't know what to do".
"Let's call Lorenzo, maybe Charlotte can buy it for us".
He watched her take care of everything: call his brother, open the door for him and Charlotte, explain the situation, decide over test brands with his sister in law, drink loads of water, all while he sat on the couch, his mind running faster than he had ever drove his Ferrari. How could she think so clearly even with how scared she was? What would he do if the test was positive? What if she didn't want to keep the baby? Why was he feeling so sad with the mere idea of the test turning up negative? Was he really ready to be a father? There were so many questions and so little answers. He could hear Charlotte walk out the door and his girlfriend go their room, he clearly felt his older brother sit by his side on the couch, but he just couldn't move. Lorenzo said something Charles never caught, too drown inside his own head.
"I really want this baby, Enzo". Was all he let out and his brother just squeezed his shoulder.
Charlotte came back pretty fast, a paper bag with at least five different tests for his girl to do. The older woman explained the younger which ones were more effective so they could compare the results later. The possible future mother lock herself into the bathroom while the other three waited outside. Charles felt like he waited for an eternity before she came out with the five little white sticks. She placed them over a napkin on the coffee table and Lorenzo set the timer. Now, they had to wait again. She was sitting on the same couch he was before, looking at everything but the tests in front of her, so he sat down and took her hand in his, hoping for the contact to be enough to ease her thoughts. He wasn't exactly the epitome of calmness and the sweat that covered his hand made it hard to grip at. She looked at him and smiled, she knew that he was going to be there for them, no matter what, but she was still scared of what he would think, she still needed to know if he really wanted this. Still, she refrained from asking and simply rested her head on his shoulder, searching for comfort on his scent. She had her eyes closed when she suddenly flew to the other side of the couch while Charles' loud yelp filled her ears.
"What the fuck was that?". She looked around, trying to find what could have startled him so much to trow her like that, but all she could see was Charles clumsily trying to grab one of the tests while his feet barely kept him up. She had never seen him so uncoordinated in the two years they had been together. His fingers had a mind of their own and his legs were trembling.
"Two lines, this one has two lines". Charles, who had been quiet and petrified for the past hour, was mumbling like a madman as he showed his brother one of the tests. In the background, the alarm set by Lorenzo started ringing and they all looked down at the coffee table, searching for the lines of truth. Charles grabbed the the tests smiling wide as he showed them to the others. "THEY ALL HAVE TWO LINES". He was hyperventilating, his whole body shaking and Lorenzo couldn't help but let out his loudest laugh as he watched his younger brother loose the little bits of sanity he had. "CAN YOU SEE IT, BABY?!". He shoved the sticks into his girlfriend's face. "It's a baby! We made a baby! Putain de merde! I'm going to be a Papa!".
"Yes, Charlie! I see it!". She said sharing his enthusiasm. But then she saw him go pale really fast. He walked backwards a few steps and Lorenzo caught him from behind before he could fall butt first on the ground.
"Okay, I think you need to process this rollercoaster of emotions while sitting on the couch, Cha". The older Leclerc helped his bother to sit down next to the now confirmed future mama. There, Charles took her hand and smiled, a high-like expression covering his eyes. He may be scared, but he had never been happier.
If Charles' reaction to the pregnancy was that chaotic, it was a sure thing that the following nine months would be as well. Before the first trimester was up, he had already brought another house to move to, where the baby could have their own room and a playroom. He brought every piece of Ferrari merchandizing he could find on the internet, he didn't even care if it was original or not. Was it pretty? Yes. Was it Ferrari? Yes. Then he was buying it. His girlfriend even went to the extent of taking away his cards and threatened with getting rid of wifi to make him stop. He didn't, took her extension in the middle of the night and kept binge-shopping for his baby at 4 am. He brought furniture for the bedroom and the playroom, and then he found his biggest rival till the day. A rival he wanted to beat more than Max Verstappen: a crib. She wasn't even showing and he was already putting a crib together, or let's rephrase it, fighting with the crib and losing pathetically.
"Cela n'a aucun sens". (This makes no sense). He complained while he tried to attach what was supposed to be 'Part B' to 'Part 3.1'. Why there was a part 3.1, he didn't know and was too stress out to try and figure it out. He growled, he literally growled when the whole crib came crushing down in front of him. "Je déteste cette merde". (I hate this shit).
"Charlie? What's wrong? I heard a loud noise". He looked at the mother of his child and all he could feel was embarrassment. "Are you alright?".
"Yes. I'm fine". He answered from the floor, looking at his lap. He wanted to cry, but he also didn't want to upset her.
"Hey, you know you can tell me anything, right?". She sat next to him on the floor and searched for his eyes, but he kept looking away from her. "What is it, Charles?".
"I-". He tried to start talking, but he was cut off by his own sob. She quickly made him turn towards her, looking for injuries, but he seemed to be physically fine. She saw the tears running down his face and did the best she could to wipe the away. Moving to sit on his lap, she threw her arms around his neck and pressed herself flat against him, trying to get as close as she could. He cried on her shoulder, soaking her his hoodie and crushing her with his arms around her waist. They stayed like that for a while, until Charles stopped crying. She scratched his head to calm him down and after some time, he did. In a painfully soft whisper, he admitted his fear to her. "I'm going to be a terrible Papa".
"Don't say that. We both know that's not true". Shushing him, she pulled away and grabbed his face, forcing him to look at her. "Is this about the crib?".
"I've been fighting this crib for four days. Our baby is going to sleep on the floor and it's all my fault". She laughed and for a moment, she regretted it, seeing the hurt in his eyes. She calmed down and pecked his lips.
"Charlie, our baby has barely formed their ears yet, you have more than enough time to figure this out". He didn't look convinced at all.
"But what if I don't?". She smiled at him.
"I know you will. Do you want to know why?". He nodded and she ran her fingers through his hair to move it away from his face, so they could look into each others eyes and make him believe her. "Because you already are the best Papa in the world, Charles".
He won against the crib just in time to catch up with the worst part of the cravings period. They were into the fourth month of pregnancy and the little bump was proudly starting to show. Charles couldn't keep his hands away from it. He was constantly touching the bump, kissing the bump, talking to the bump, even scolding the bump whenever he saw some discomfort tinting his girlfriend's face. In the paddock he practically forced her to go everywhere with him and on interviews he answered every question while looking at her. He insisted on people staying at least ten centimeters away from her and he even took upon himself the task of preparing every meal she ate, just to make sure that it was safe and she didn't get food poisoned. He checked places' and foods' temperatures, chairs' and couches' safety, if her shoes were properly tied (at least 20 times a day), the only thing missing was him wrapping her on bobble wrapping. He safety proofed the every hotel room they stayed in so she wouldn't 'accidentally hit the bump against unknown furniture in the dark'. At some point, she had to put a stop to the madness, specially when Charles' newly-daddy paranoia messed with her cravings.
"Amour, what are you eating?". He asked when he caught her hiding with Lando and Max behind the Red Bull garage, a massive greasy half eaten hot dog on her hands. Lando was opening a mayonnaise sachet with his teeth and Max was feeding her french fries with his bare hands, all three of them sitting on the floor. It wasn't exactly the most sanitary situation, but the fuzzy feeling she felt inside her chest thanks to that hot dog made it all worth it. Charles could swear he had an aneurysm just by the sight of it all. "Where did you get that?".
"Uhm...". Her and Lando looked at Max, waiting for him to answer, since he was the one who brought it.
"Well... It's from a professional, I can assure you that, Charles". The monegasque frowned and Max swallowed, scared, just to find out his mouth was completely dry. He wasn't an easily scared guy, but something about Charles' over-protective-dad mood just terrified him.
"And where's the professional's place? Can you show me?". Max, still sitting on the floor, looked at everything but Charles.
"Oh, you see-".
"It's from the stand outside of the paddock". Lando blurted out, followed by him covering his mouth with both his hands and the three of them heard Charles growl.
"Max did you just feed my pregnant girlfriend a hot dog from a dirty street-stand? YOU DON'T EVEN KNOW IF THE PERSON WASHES THEIR HANDS-"
"They definitely don't, I mean, they don't have where to".
"Lando, you're not helping me, mate". Max advised, not moving his eyes from the fuming Charles above him. Then the pregnant girl decided to intervene.
"Charlie, babe, it's okay. I asked him to buy it for me". Charles then looked at her, his gaze softening a little, but still angry.
"Amour, you know that's not good for you". He walked to her and hooked his arms under hers to help her off the floor.
"But the baby wanted it". Max still followed Charles, afraid of what the future father could do to him for messing with his unborn baby's diet. Lando stayed very still, hoping to make himself invisible. "I was just craving this so bad! And you never let me have this type of food. The baby is fine, I promise".
"Don't do that face, it's not fair". He complained when she gave him her best puppy eyes. She didn't stop, and he finally dropped the attitude. "Okay, maybe we can make some room for a hot dog once in a while. But you have to keep eating healthy, we don't want the little Tifosi to come out malnourished".
"Yay!". She squealed and hugged him tight, the hot dog almost falling from her hand. Charles hugged her back and then directed his gaze towards the other two drivers.
"And you two". Max and Lando looked at him wide-eyed. "This better be the last time you pull off something like this. Did I make myself clear?".
"Yes, sir". Both said at the same time and got up from the floor.
"Okay, go on. And think about what you did". They nodded their heads, Max handing the girl the fries and then walking away with Lando.
"I like you daddy-voice". Charles shrugged at her comment.
"Amour, don't call it that or I won't be able to use it without laughing".
Charles' paranoia got better. He calmed down a little, but then the fear of being a bad father came back. Around the seventh month, already knowing they were having a boy, Charles found himself with insomniac. At the beginning of the pregnancy he was scared of not knowing what to do to take care of a baby's basic needs: bottle feed, change diapers, help him to sleep, and things like that. But as the date of the delivery got closer, Charles' fears shifted to the more existential type. What if he was unable to guide his son through life? What if he failed on teaching him good values and a strong sense of ethics? What if he ended up raising a spoiled kid, arrogant and narcissistic? What if he couldn't make his boy happy? What if his kid hated him? Those questions kept him up at night, turning over and over on the bed, and cold sweat covering his body. He would walk to the baby's room and look at the painting his girlfriend did on the walls, the name 'Jules' written on lilac on a clear sky, over the race track so carefully crafted. What if his son didn't want to race cars? What if he was forcing him to do so when he wasn't even born? Sitting on the rocking chair, he would look out the window, the yachts at the bay clearly visible from there. What if his son didn't like Monaco? What if his son would rather adopt his mother's nationality and culture over his? The dark sky adorned with shinny little dots would look back at him without answers.
"Charlie? Why are you up, love?". He heard his girl's sleepy voice call out to him from the doorway. He smiled at her, his eyes glossy as he fought the tears that wanted to escape.
"Just thinking, Amour. Don't worry". He gave her his best smile, but she could read his real feelings underneath it. "Go back to bed, I'll join you in a minute".
"I think we love each other enough to cut the bullshit, babe". She walked further into the room and stopped in front of him, her big belly at his face's height, and he couldn't help but reach forward and kiss it. "What is it?"
"It's... it's just a lot and it's late. Don't worry, really-"
"Charles, I'm not sleeping until I'm convinced that you're alright". He sighed, and pulled her to his lap. The weight was a little bit more than what he was used to, but he loved that, it made it impossible for him to overlook the fact that his baby was there, with them. He made her rest her back against his chest and rocked he chair, hugging her tight against him and resting his chin over her shoulder. They both looked out of the window and she patiently waited for him to tell her what was going on inside his mind.
"I'm scared. I feel this huge responsibility over Jules". She smiled, loving whenever they talked about their baby using the name they choose for him. "I just want to be a good Papa, but I'm so scared of messing up, of making the wrong choices, of using the wrong words, of leading him in the wrong direction. What if I don't raise him right? If I'm not a good role model?"
"Well, you're not alone in this, Charlie, I'm with you till the end of the line. Like Bucky and Steve. I know that we'll be alright. I just know it". She sounded so sure of herself. He wished he could be that sure about everything.
"How do you do it? How do you manage to always be so sure and composed?". She laughed and he felt the baby kick under his palm, he always kicked when she laughed.
"I've been the least composed person and you know it, Charlie! I break down crying at least five times a day. You've seen that! You're the one who comforts me every time". He laughed softly, that was true, those had been some pretty crazy seven months. A true rollercoaster of emotions. And they still had two more months to go. "I know that we'll be alright because we're already asking ourselves these questions. Because we care about Jules so much that we truly take time to think things through. We are going to be alright because we love our baby and we both know we will always do the best we can for him. We won't let the bad choices from our parents be repeated and we'll make sure to copy the best from them to give to Jules. That's why I'm so sure". She turned to look at him for a moment. "I trust you to be the dad of my baby because I know how great of a human being you are, Charles".
"I love you". He said, feeling a lot better. He kissed her tenderly, and then another kick was felt under his hand. "Thanks for being here for me, Amour".
"Always, just as you had always been for me". She nuzzled her nose against his. Another kick and they both laughed. "Let's go back to bed, Papa".
The two months passed by in a blink. Charles asked Ferrari to give him a leave of absence for the first two races of the season. He wanted to be world champion, but he would rather be there when his son was born. Ferrari let him take his time, but Jules decided to be born at eight and a half months. It seemed like he couldn't wait to meet his parents, because everything happened so fast that Charles had barely had any time to react. They were having lunch at his mother's house, and he was having the best time. His girl looked amazing, all radiant and happy, her belly covered by a cute but comfortable dress, his sisters in law both touching the belly and fighting for godmother duties. Lorenzo and Charlotte were definitely the chosen ones, but they hadn't tell anyone yet, after all both Lorenzo and Charlotte were there for them when they needed them. His mother was showing him little clothes that she had crocheted for Jules and his brothers discussing which one was going to be the 'responsible uncle' and who the 'funcle'. Arthur was definitely unable to be the responsible one, so he was already chosen to be the 'funcle'. Every conversation was cut short when the faint voice of the future mama rang through the air.
"Charlie". Her shaken voice called out, and he turned around to see what she needed. There was a wet patch under her and she was grabbing her belly, a painful expression on her face. "I think my water broke".
"The baby is coming!". Arthur shouted excitedly, but Charles' brain just stopped functioning. He saw everyone running around to grab things, Charlotte and Carla helping his girl out of the house and towards his car, Lorenzo grabbing the baby bag the carried around just in case since the beginning of the last trimester, Arthur pushing him outside and his mother speaking, but he just couldn't move. H was petrified. He felt like his blood pressure had dropped in a second and if it wasn't for Arthur behind him, he would have certainly fallen to the ground. His mother took his car keys out of his pocket and then they pushed him on the back seat, next to his girlfriend. Her hand crushing his brought him back from his outer-body state and he was able to react, turning to face her and running his other hand down her arm, doing his best to sooth her.
"It's okay, mon amour. Breath, breath with me". He instructed her and he started to exaggerate his breathing so she could copy her. She did and that calmed her down enough to count the seconds between one contraction and the next. "That's it, Amour, you're doing so good". He praised her and she smiled a little, her happy expression cut short by another waive of pain. She screamed and cried, sweat covering her forehead and running down her face, mixing with her tears. It was probably the most messy she had ever looked, but he had never seen her as beautiful as in that moment. "I love you so much". He whispered it, but by the squeeze she gave to his hand, he knew for sure she was saying it back. "We're almost there, hung on a little longer".
He almost carried her out of the car and into the hospital the second Arthur parked the car. Then, they found out that she was ready to deliver in that second. Jules didn't want them to keep him waiting, she was brought to the delivery room and Charles was given surgical gown so he could join her. Inside, the whole process was quick, in 30 minutes, Jules was crying on the doctors arms and Charles could feel his heart skip a beat. Wrapped on towel and with the small hat they had for him on, Jules was passed on to his mother, who took him instantly while she cried her eyes out. Charles, still on delay with reality, was trying to process the information. That was his baby, he was finally there, he could finally touch him. The doctor walked to him, placing a hand on his shoulder, Charles couldn't stop looking at his girl and little Jules. He heard a softly "go ahead, meet your boy", and that was enough for him to place a shaking and gentle hand on Jules' head. He ran his thumb over the soft little cheek and the tears started to fall. He felt his girl's hand wipe away his tears and heard her laugh softly. She just found funny that after overreacting about every little thing for the past eight months, Charles was barely able to react that day. He was a mess in that moment, but he was the perfect mess in her eyes. The most extraordinary mess. He finally smiled and reached down to kiss her head, then he looked at Jules.
"I am your Papa, Jules. I love you. I'm so happy to finally meet you".
