Okay, so sometimes I’ll think “how can I be trans/asexual/queer if I didn’t always know?” As well as me trying out different labels before finding something that fit (which, completely valid btw). But it can feel like my identity is fragile with how easily the language can change before I found what felt like me.

And I would like to take this time to compare that to me finding out I’m autistic.

Like I didn’t get officially diagnosed until I was nineteen. And now that I know I can see my autistic traits, but that doesn’t mean I was “suddenly autistic”. Like I was always like this. I got overstimulated before I even knew what that was. There was a party at my dad’s house I was at and the noise was overwhelmingly loud for me (even though the noise was quite average). My dad ended up getting me his pilot headset that had like this noise canceling/white noise option that I used due to being overstimulated.

I even found a baby picture of me from the day I was born where I was doing the dinosaur arm thing. Like straight out of the womb and I’m already pulling an autism.

So just cause you didn’t always know doesn’t mean it wasn’t always a thing. You’re valid.

This can apply to a few things.

Yes, exactly this! 😄💯 I remember I had seen a few posts from @multicolour-ink discussing the idea a little while back, and I've adhered to this headcanon ever since. 🤭👌

I imagine that their very first babbles would be limited to short and muddled syllables like "mah" and "woo", which then eventually would progress into "mawho" and "weegee". As for actual words, I like to think that one that caught their attention and which they've learned very early on was "brother". 😌💞
