1) the wiki camp 2 is ABSOLUTELY a welcoming community. in fact, check this out: here's an index of plainly written explanations of various community in-jokes, to ensure nobody's left confused! while i'm not super active on the discord due to hyperfixating on single spaces at a time like some sort of cryptid, i have a lot of wonderful friends in the community and i'd wholeheartedly call it nice.

you don't have to apply to write, either! while i don't think there's an ETA yet on when the wiki's re-opening, whenever it does you'll be able to make an account for free and start creating to your heart's content! sometimes people who do that even get roped into the camp due to Token Shenanigans....

officially a drag king in the northern VA area, performing monthly at a gay bar in Arlington! <3 Ace Epicene's the name, im loving doing it even if im still hella new at it all, but i can see my own progress so very well and the community is so helpful and welcoming out here ^u^

10. Most Beautiful Thing You've Seen. Probably the mountains "near" where I live. I'd take trips back and forth through them to visit family before they moved back to my hometown, it gets you a nice view.

11. Stupidest Thing You've Done: I've got a big repository for that shit, but the one that sticks out to me right now is the time I managed to break my ceiling fan with some rope. I was a kid who had a bad habit of stealing food, so my mom got the bright idea to tie the main cabinet shut with some rope. So I got some rope. And I had to find a way to have fun with it. So my ceiling fan back then would already wobble at it's highest setting, but it'd wobble way more when I threw some rope at it to watch it launch it across the room. Eventually I threw it too close to the center of the fan and the whole thing came down. Then a couple months after the part of the ceiling just above my bed collapsed.

12. Stupidest Thing You've Heard/Seen Someone Else Do/Say: I had a warehouse job a couple years back where some dude tried to stop a forklift from crashing into a wall by using his foot. That was just before I started working there, and we got a lotta morning speeches dedicated to A) the danger of forklifts and B) how much you're not allowed to blame the company if you end up injured.

13. Hyperfixation Song: Various. I've got a habit of listening to songs multiple times a day for months on end. I guess the Altar of Apostasy track from Ultrakill is the song I've currently been listening to for the longest.

Okay, for the PFP, I'm a really fucking big fan of monster raising games. Taking something adorable and weak and raising it to attack and dethrone God. I blame it on watching my mom play Monster Rancher 4 when I was an impressionable young babby (great game btw). This is a Woolie (Rune Factory). This lil guys pretty much got the fact that he's adorable to run with. They can't fight that well, but as of Rune Factory 4 (best one gameplay wise) you can make them invincible powerhouses with time, care, and affection. And in Rune Factory 3, you can turn into a Woolie and perform nonstop infinite DDTs on enemies. No enemy is immune to your Potemkin Buster.

As for my username, I like earth magic. Geomancy. I feel like it's never gotten a fair shake in media cause it's either too hard to depict the sheer damage it can cause or because anyone who gives it any amount of thought realizes it's super busted and nerfs it in their story, and I feel like people sleep on just how fucking cool it is, especially if that poll I unleashed my manifesto on is anything to go on. It's fucking Disaster Magic. Apocalypse Magic. Share a weird fact/story about yourself with the class. I like to drive around rural areas and photograph old, sometimes abandoned locations in the dead of night. I have been literally chased out of towns by foot and by car on two separate occasions. The second time this happened, "See You Again" by Miley Cyrus came up on shuffle and that's the soundtrack my friend and I tore out of town to. Also every "guy" I've dated except for my most recent ex (who has big egg energy) is a lesbian now.

What is the most beautiful thing you've ever seen? The appalachian mountains of Tennessee in the middle of summer. There's kudzu everywhere. On the backroads, there were several old, dilapidated Baptist churches barely hanging to the side of the mountain. I wonder how many of them were still in use.

What is the stupidest thing you've ever done? Short version: my friend's house almost got broken into by this dude who'd been stalking us for months while we were home alone. Instead of calling the cops, we decided to confront him with a bow and arrow (me), a hatchet, and a baseball bat (him). The plan was that if it went badly, we would simply throw his corpse into one of the many lakes in the neighborhood and let the alligators eat his remains (this was Florida). Why? Because we were afraid of having our home-alone privileges revoked. Luckily for us all, the guy fucked off and we never saw him again.

Stupidest thing you've seen/heard someone else do/say? My ex thought that Jackalopes were real. Also, a nurse I was doing rotations with apparently thought that "Witness Protection" was for Jehovah's Witnesses.

I second a lot of this. A whole lotta people very much are that into it. And generally speaking, I'm trying to accept, as someone who creates fandom content, that most things are not most people's cup of tea. A lot of content will continue to be incomprehensible to me as to its appeal, or super niche and hard to find or share whether sexy or not and across genres.

Based on my allosexual (I think... It's complicated) aromantic experience, I guess there's so many openly and vigorously sexual people in fandoms who laser focus on it because they're priceless for escaping all the IRL complexities and repression surrounding sex especially for queer people. Being high-key horny isn't a ticket out of those, unfortunately. Fantasy is the best way to be freely sexual removed from all that, without that baggage, or exploring and processing it in a safe and fun way, putting that into those fictional characters.

Due to sharing these experiences, fandoms appear to be great for us to find sex-positive community - something which platforms like this one are increasingly stamping out. I returned here for the essays we can't do on the bird app which (for now) lets us hornypost in earnest and use sensible tags and filtering - but also snuffs out meaningful engagement and mental health so yay lol.

Finding a character attractive or someone I can imagine being sexual as is usually, but not always, a big part of what makes someone a fave, or a ship interesting. My hyperfixations will get even more hyperspecific as my brain homes in on the hot stuff. That's how it's built, it seems. Sex is far from the only thing I'm in it for, but that is what most of my work and the work I enjoy is at least partially about or will feature at some point. Sex will be part of their lives as it is mine.

On fan content in general that one doesn't understand or is repulsed by, it can get very frustrating to have spent as much time as I have over the years tagging things carefully and trying to help everyone find the parts they enjoy and avoid the rest, while I so often come across content that is uncomfortable for me (yes, people who have weird sexual kinks can also have things, including sexual things, they'd rather not see but are everywhere) while also getting to hear how gross and deviant the content I create and enjoy is and what it supposedly says about me - not from this OP obviously, but that is just the way these spaces are.

So yeah I can 100% relate to feeling alienated from a lot of fandom activity and content others go crazy for but I can't handle or simply does nothing for me. But it is interesting to hear what draws others to it. I would like to see fandom find a home where this feeling isn't a thing and sharing is easier but I'm not holding my breath. And I'm finding a lot of joy in the more dedicated and niche-within-a-niche spaces I've been fortunate to find.

I'm having another hardcore!ace moment of confusion where I'm just like... super mystified by the level of focus people have on sexual things.

And like... this is going to sound weird. But. Is that actually real?

Like, so many aspects of fandom just seem to. End up involving sex. So many stories I read. Discussions I watch. It seems to be the ultimate goal of so much.

Do people really think about it that often? Is that real?

Like. I'm not one of those aces that cheerfully enjoys sexual content; I'm heavily repulsed.

It's just so alien to me. Like watching aliens talk about something incomprehensible. Which. Is probably not the most accurate way of thinking of it. I mean, it's very normal for people. I... think? Right? That's the normal way?

It's still a shock to me, even at this point in my life. And it still seems like some sort of joke. Like it's fake. Like how is it possible that everything seems to lead to some sort of sexual something-or-other?

It just continues to feel like I'm watching a whole score of absolutely alien creatures indulge in something outright bizarre. Except that it's probably more accurate that I'm the alien creature, looking in.

Or something.
