BLOG POST NO. 11 - HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO THIS BITCH (I AM THAT BITCH)
GUESS WHO’S A YEAR INTO ADULTHOOD BITCHES
WOO YEAH CONFETTI CYMBALS TAMBORINES FUCKING ORCHESTRA ENCORE
So yeah I turned 19 and honestly it was the most uneventful bullshit I have ever been a part of— but I wouldn’t have it any other way.
So here’s the deal: Lan and Ray both set up a mini birthday party for me (thanks dorks :DDD) after all our classes were done. Ray decided to use his privilege (fucking finally) and booked an entire restaurant for us (Did I mention my friend was rich? Because he is. I hate him /j). He mostly did it because he knows I’m a horrid at anything social related so being in a restaurant full of people would have been nerve wracking— we could have just celebrated it in my apartment, but Lan said something along the lines of “the walls will eat you at this point— you need to touch some fucking grass” so I had no say in the matter.
We also invited Duke and Tim so yay more friends :DDD I went from having zero social life to having a small friend group. We hang out a lot outside of school now, so it's been great :DD
The dorks also gave me gifts which— you know, is nice and all I guess (no I didn’t cry, totally not).
Lan gave me a book I’ve had on my wishlist since forever and honestly thank fuck— I’ll take any free book I can get at this point (my entire collection at home + the one I have in my apartment here are worth a small fortune at this point—). Ray got me a wild assortment of keychains and pins because they know I’ve been meaning to collect more so that’s nice. Honestly I can probably cover a whole bag with the amount they decided to buy me—
Tim and Duke are fucking insane though. You wanna know what these mfs got me? A fucking nintendo switch. Why, you might ask? Because they heard me mention wanting one in passing. Like seriously, I know these two are rich but like holy shit wtf man. I mean thank you obviously but at the same time what the fuck.
Technically they split the gift between them, but Tim was specifically the one who bought the switch, and Duke bought me the games to play on it (Legend of Zelda and Animal Crossing?? Hello???)
(I love my friends— sob)
Overall, pretty great birthday :)))
I just kinda wish I could come home and visit family
We were on a video call all night after Hood left, but it just doesn’t feel the same way, you know?
Thankfully, I almost have enough money saved for a trip back home. I’ll just have to wait for December to come.
I miss them.
But anyway, happy birthday to me :D

2019 Wishlist
Greetings All & Blessed Be I hope this finds you having a wonderful season thus far. My name is Jaimi, I am an indie author, who is fighting for disability due to a combination of physical and mental health complication, working on trying to figure out how to get a bookstore, farm market & artisan craft store up and running at the same time. It's a bit of a balancing act since my health means I can only work rarely, and I planned for others to actually do the majority of the work. It's also a balancing act as it can be used against me. While there are amazon lists, do not feel like you have to get the stuff from amazon. Instead, if you have some of it floating around, know where you can get it for cheaper, or simply don't like amazon, I have no issues providing an address to send it to! I can be contacted on here or by email at [email protected]. Since this list will cover several different people, I am not going to post the addresses here for safety reasons. I've had a stalker in the past, so now I like knowing when I give it out. That said, here are my requests for myself, friends and family. 1. Amazon Wishlist house supplies for Shelk & boys. She's a single mom, with two sons. While she got a job a little earlier this year, and it was supposed to become permanent in November, it's rather up in the air due to the business recently being sold, and the new owners are considering changing out staff. That means every penny she makes goes towards food, lot rent (which she is paying catch up on from when she was unemployed) and the utilities. If you'd be able to save money by buying the stuff you want to send or have some of it from stocking up and want to share, message me for her address! 2. Amazon Wishlist gift ideas for Shelk & the boys. Shelk loves to read - fantasy, romance, and stuff with happy endings mostly, but since she doesn't have a device that can do ebooks, she does paperbacks. N (elder nephew - 10 years old) is getting into science, enjoys reading mysteries and spy stuff, likes the Marvel heroes, and has recently started journaling & keeping a planner that he likes to decorate with stickers! J (younger nephew - 5, years old & turns 6 the day before Christmas) adores mindcraft, building blocks, play money, food, stickers, or house stuff (all of it from the cooking to the mechanics stuff), and cars! There is a combination of toys they have requested, plus things they have not but have shown interest in the past on the list. 3. Amazon Wishlist Food or Full Cart for Rachel & family . Rachel takes care of her mom and helps her aunt, while dealing with her own health issues. She's been told she's not qualified for disability because she didn't work enough and is not old enough, even though she has had progressive issues that are following along the same route as her mom's. There are three people in the family. All food from the Omaha Steaks company done on one order gets a single shipping cost from my experimentation, making it cheaper to do multiples rather than singles. 4. Amazon Wishlist gift ideas for Rachel & family. All three members of the family are into crafts. When living with disabilities, it's best to find what brings you joy. For them, it's creating things. They love all sorts of crafts, everything from planners and scrap books, to knitting and sewing, to coloring. It is not uncommon for them to save up their change to get craft bags from ReStores. Craft bags are pieces of fabric, random things of thread, and other odds & ins to make stuff. Sometimes they find larger things of cloth to work with, and other times not. no matter what the craft material, one of the three will come up with something for it. The only thing is it has to be perfume free as all three are allergic to perfumes. There is also a collection of gift cards, to allow them a chance to spoil themselves, some are food related, some are store related. 5. Amazon Wishlist hobby and gift ideas for my ma. She had a stroke in 2008, since then she has been struggling to discover who she is with the disabilities it left her. At this time she's working on escaping an abusive relationship, where her partner has a bad habit of treating her like a burden and useless. It's broken her self esteem the rest of the way, along with worsening her depression. I am trying to help her find things that she will enjoy, that she can do rather than simply sit and think of that which is lost. 6. Home Depot or Lowe's Gift Cards! All four houses have various projects that need to be worked on. Shelk - trying to finish replacing the bad plumbing and molded insulation to keep her home warm for the boys and herself, there's a few other things that need dealt with too. Jaimi - trying to replace old and raggedy carpet with floor tiles, also has plumbing that needs fixed, two base board heaters that are glitching, and a window in need of replacing. Pattie (my ma) - needs a new dishwasher so on bad days she can put the dishes in there and use it, needs to fix the sink, and do something with the carpet. Rachel - kitchen sink and counter totally needs replaced, bathroom sink needs fixed, a few other random things. 7. Amazon Wishlist for me, cause yes besides the necessities of repairing the house, there is some fun stuff I'd love to get but can't bring myself to use my bill money for. Any and all art supplies, whether they are on there, from a thrift store, extras just laying around, or from a dollar store are welcome! I have yet to come across an art supply I cannot use in some way. 8. Cards and letters - any of us, plus I know that myself, Rachel, Paula, Dawn, and Pattie will send thank you cards for them. Addresses will be provided on request! they don't have to be fancy, expensive, or long. It's nice to get little cards from people. A little sign that we're not alone over the season, when sometimes hard times and health problems strike the worst. 9. I have a service dog named Winston who I am making payments on, there is still $1,300 left on him. The sooner I get him paid off, the sooner that money goes back towards the bills. Any help towards that would be appreciated. I can provide the loan company and information who would like go that route, there is also my Ko-Fi, PayPal email ([email protected]) or GoFundMe for those who prefer that method.
Tumblr media
[ID: Winston the Rottweiler service pup at the vet]
10. Say something kind to a stranger when in public. A simple "you look nice" or "lovely smile" or "I hope you have a good day". It can make a huge difference and only takes a few seconds to do. There is too much cruelty in the world, so it spreads a bit of cheer. Thank you all for taking the time to read this long list! I will be going through and trying to do what I can with my limited income. May your season and year to follow be wonderful! Jaimi
PS - this is copied over from the Dreamwidth Holiday Wishlist exchange, I figure it doesn’t hurt for me to post it in both spots.

The bad deal
Yesterday we ran a one day sale to get new members.
On occasion my gym will do one day events, and we usually advertise on Facebook and our local paper for the week beforehand. We did that this time too.
It’s a pretty sweet deal for the customer (basically make a larger down payment and get a cheap monthly rate) and an even sweeter deal for me. I got a $30 commission on every new membership I sold under the deal. I had signed up 8 people, and was closing up when I got a phone call from somebody running just a little late who wanted to sign up.
So I did what any money-grubbing whore would do: I clocked out and goofed off for the 15 minutes he said it would take him to get there so I could get one more commission in before I closed up.
A half hour later, and having realized that until I get paid all this commission I cannot buy the games I have on my Steam wishlist, I decide he’s not coming and begin to close up.
AS SOON AS I CLOSE THE REGISTER DOWN HERE HE IS.
Whatever, for $30 I’ll open it back up.
He reaffirms he wants the deal for new members and...wants to cancel his current membership.
He’s already a member, so he doesn’t qualify for the deal. By his logic, by cancelling his current account and signing up again, he’d be considered new.
I tell him that he has to have been cancelled for at least 3 months to get the deal, and then I do a bit of quick math for him. With the cancel fees on his current membership coupled with the startup fees on his new membership, he wouldn’t save any money until he’d been paying for almost 2 years.
He tells me he doesn’t care how I do it but he wants the deal.
I tell him again he’s going to spend more money than it’s worth. We already had him at a decent rate, spending all this extra money was not a good deal for him.
He tells me to mind my business and “if I can’t do it call somebody who knows what they’re doing.”
Ah rudeness, how I’d missed you. I grab the calculator so I can show him exactly how raw of a deal this really is.
While I’m adding things up, he gets a phone call. I hear the sentence “yeah I’m at the gym but this guy doesn’t know what he’s doing” and I immediately lost any and all interest in saving him money.
He finishes his phone call and I tell him that I can do what he wants, but there’s a $100 account transfer fee. I had just made that up, figuring he’d see another $100 added to the already stupid-to-pay fees for this deal which was a bad fit for him and decide that it was time to walk away.
Nope.
OK fine. You want to pay all this shit? YOU GOT IT!
I get a new contract for him and write at the bottom “CUSTOMER WAIVES 7 DAY CANCELLATION POLICY” and make a space for him to initial it.
**Author’s note** we usually let people cancel within 7 days of signing up with no fees or penalties so they can change their mind if they want to and not feel like they were raked over the coals.
He asks why I put that on his new contract. I tell him it’s because once he realizes how much money he just wasted we’re not refunding it. So once he pays, the money is gone forever.
For the first time, he hesitates.
Him: Why wouldn’t I be able to get my money back?
Me: Because you’re making a bad decision, you’ve been told it’s a bad decision, and yet somehow you still want to do it. I still suggest you just walk away and not do this, because seriously, it’s a bad deal for you. But if you STILL decide you want to donate all this money to us it’s going to be 100% on you and you will get no refund. Not one cent. And I’m telling you this despite the fact I don’t get a commission if you don’t do it. So choose wisely.
Now he decides he wants to argue with me over the 7 day refund.
Me: Look, here’s the deal. You either overpay like I’ve told you that you will and accept that you can never get that money back, or you walk away. I honestly don’t care at this point, but I was supposed to close 45 minutes ago and I’m not going to argue with you. YOU ARE MAKING A MISTAKE. But it’s your life and I’ll let you decide what to do.
He stands there and puts the pen down and I think he’s going to do the right thing and go away.
Then he picks the pen back up, fills out the contract, and passes it back to me along with his credit card. I’m so fucking done.
I do what he wants (including charging him that bullshit $100 fee,) and give him a receipt and a copy of his new contract. Have a fucking great day.
I then call my manager and tell her what just went on and she’s a dumbfounded as I am that he’d do it even though I explained how stupid it was.
I’m getting a $70 commission off of it at least, and it’s going to be very satisfying when he tells pretty much anybody about the deal he got and they tell him he’s stupid. I just know he’ll be back trying to get his money...but he waived that. Moron.
I changed my mind, tornado chasing IS happening. My game room will have to wait. -J

Your Fashion Questions, Answered
I took a poll on Instagram last week and requested that you send in all of your questions.
Because there was such a strong response, I decided to break them up into sections starting with the most popular category, Fashion & Style!
Do you still wear your Chanel sunnies you got last year? – Ashley P
No. They were an impulse purchase that I made while in Florence and I regretted it. I actually gave them to my brother to he can wear them for fun this summer.
Top 5 pieces for a summer wardrobe? – Cat
1 A great pair of denim shorts. 2. Oversized sunglasses. 3. A medium sized straw bag. 4. A classic black one-piece swimsuit. 5. Pair of white sandals.
How did you find your style? – Hibi C
That’s a tough question to answer because I feel like my personal style is constantly evolving. After high school when I moved to Chicago I was given the chance to play dress up more {living in a big city}. The seasons gave me a chance to play with layers and really explore different sides to my personality. After I moved to Los Angeles the style here is much more laid back. However I travel {or used to} quite often to New York and Paris for work so it lended me with opportunities to dress up. I think the more chances you have to dress up for different types of occasions the better you get at doing so.
What are your favorite styles of belt bags? Martha D
Do you mean crossbody bags? I don’t really wear belt bags but my favorite cross body bag is the A.P.C. half moon and all of Clare V’s crossbody bags.
Do you prioritize eco-responsible clothes (non-toxic, good salary, local) – Lauren C
I shop a LOT locally and strive to support my friends such as Heidi Merrick, Rachel Comey, Rachel Pally, Clare V., The Optimist, Janessa Leone, Sophie Monet, Sophie Buhai…to name a few. So to answer your question: yes!
Tumblr media
Favorite everyday handbag? – The Luces
I absolutely love my Goyard PM tote and carry it almost every day. It’s a great bag to buy used because it’ll get banged up a little bit. For a less expensive option, I also love the Everyday Tote bag by Mansur Gavriel or the Cloud Bag by Baggu.
Can we see your fine jewelry collection? Favorite piece of jewelry? – Quyen P
I don’t love showing it all together. It feels a little braggadocious. My collection includes Cartier Juste un Clou and Love Bracelets, an Hermés watch, Retrouvai jewelry and Tiffany & Co. pieces to name a few.
How do you keep your tees so white? – @bexhunt1
I’m not sure but I do wash ALL of my whites together using Laundress. I love, love the smell of Laundress.
Do you take your love bracelet off? Is it hard? – Maddie B
Very rarely. I recently took my bigger one off as we entered quarantine because I wanted to wear minimal accessories while at home. It isn’t hard to take off at all.
Can we see your engagement ring? – Anne R
Sure! If you google it I think more images will come up. It’s a modified radiant cut, 3.25 carats.
Do you like your small Cartier Love better than original? Reason you’re wearing one less? – Keesha G
I’m only wearing it less because I’m home and it felt weird to be wearing two bracelets all the time. I’ll put it back one once I go back out into the wild
Tumblr media
But to answer your question, lately I’ve been liking my smaller one because I’ve been feeling rather minimal lately.
How often do you do closet clean outs? – Sarah
Once a month.
New favorite clothing finds? – Lauren B
I’ve been loving finding secret pieces on Amazon. I’m doing a year-long partnership with them soon so I’ve been geeking out to finding super affordable pieces. It’s like a fun game for me!
How do you style outfits for spring? – Stephanie V
I’m all about layers and never leave the house without a light jacket. Lately I’ve been loving lots of neutrals and don’t worry about them being too matchy. I also lean in to accessories more during the spring, such as hats, jewelry and scarves.
Favorite affordable online shops? – Desi G
Obsessed with Everlane lately!
Any ideas for re-entry looks? – Janelle I
For me I’m going to wear less make-up and stick to minimal styles and neutral colors.
How to elevate basics for work? – Lisa L
I think that any outfit can be easily elevated with a great slingback heel. You can also pull your hair back in a low bun and add a headband to elevate the look.
Tricks for save/splurge style? – Lisa L
Splurge on bags and accessories such as a classic black headband and good jewelry. Splurge on classic pieces like the Hermès Oran Sandals or a Chanel quilted handbag. Save on jeans, tops and sunglasses.
Trend you can’t get behind? – Christine
Just one? (ha!). I can’t get behind the puffy Bottega Veneta sandals or the netted cage sandals. I can’t get behind biker shorts and crop tops.
How has your style changed to accommodate mom life? – Penny
My pajamas are less cute because I get messy during dinner time and soaked during bath time. Really just my “stay at home” style is different. I still love getting dressed when I can go out.
How long did it take for your Amazon straw bag to arrive? (backorder situation) Christine E
Damn! Mine took about a week.
Have you always had an eye for fashion and design or is a skill you have honed? – Joni
I’m not 100% sure but I do know that I’ve always enjoyed playing dress up and my mom and I used to take a lot of shopping trips growing up.
Summer tank/shirt dresses to wear with sneakers/sandals? – Narz T
Love this dress by Lacausa. It’s been in my closet for a very long time and I always bring it out during summer.
Robe suggestions? – Nina M
100% Lunya “The Robe”
Affordable fashion picks for transitioning back into seeing people? – Sabrina M
I’d check out my clothing favorites from my Amazon shop because I’m constantly adding affordable pieces that I love.
Classic, everyday pieces for work? – Grace M
Black trousers, a slingback heel and a crisp white button up shirt.
How do you know when something is out of style? – Marija P
If you are dressing in classic pieces that feel timeless then you will never be out of style.
Hat box suggestion? – Melissa D
I’m on the hunt! Steamline makes some great hat box luggage pieces.
What are the items I should invest in at goal weight? – Niamh C
Congrats! I would invest in a pretty black silk dress.
Next big wishlist purchase? – Noelline B
A piece of Retrouvai jewelry from her Lollipop collection.
10 best shoes? – Noelline B
Hermes Oran Flats, Gianvitto Rossi Portofino 70’s, Soludos Beach Slides, Mansur Gavriel Slingbacks in White and Black, Jenni Kayne House Slippers, Chanel Ballerina Flats, Tkees, New Balance Sneakers, Tory Burch Bubble Sneaker and a pair of Hunter Boots.
10 best bags? – Noelline B
Chanel Quilted Black Classic, Bottega Veneta Quilted Pouch, anything Mansur Gavriel, Goyard PM in black, Dior Saddle Bag, Cult Gaia, Staud, Tory Burch, Clare V. and Loewe.
I feel like I reached a certain age and lost my style – any tips for re-finding it? – Wendy W
Oh no! Have you tried hanging out with people who are younger than you are? Try listening to different music, watch a new show or read an inspiring book. Push yourself outside of your comfort zone a little bit and maybe buy something you normally wouldn’t buy.
Where are your sunglasses/eyeglasses from? – Melissa W
My eye glasses are very, very old and from LA Eyeworks. My sunglasses are Amazon.
Jewelry organization tips? – Erin T
I would check this video out. I use inserts in my drawers to keep everything organized.
Favorite white tee? – Jennifer J
Currently it’s this one by James Perse.
Best workout clothes for postpartum mom? – Stephanie
I love Beyond Yoga pants because they have stretch. I’d wear an oversized tee with them.
Do you have a bag you love that seems to go with every outfit? – Devon
Yes! Any of the Dior prints like this one OR the Tory Burch Lee bags.
How do you decide what to get rid of? – Kristin
If I haven’t worn something in over a month it gets moved to the further left side of the rack. I then make myself wear it within a month or I get rid of it (unless it’s something sentimental or occasional like a black silk dress).
What’s the story about your Chanel ring that Grant got you? – Julie
Ha! I’ll share it in my book (coming soon!).
Easy wardrobe style tips? – Tracy M
Keep things sweet and simple. I would “favorite” or take screen grabs of favorite outfits you come across online. I save all of my outfit inspiration images into a folder on my phone so that when I go to get dressed I try to put together an outfit that’s similar.
Favorite high and low designers right now? – Nadia D
High – Asceno // Low – Amazon
Best investment white sandal? – Tiffany
Hermes Oran Sandal for sure but there’s a great knockoff on Amazon. I also really love these Tkees.
If you were an award circuit celeb, which designer would be your dream gown partnership? – Shannon
Maria Grazia Chiuri
Favorite running shoes? – Amanda
Nike
Favorite affordable denim shorts? – Inessa
Everlane!
Affordable summer dresses? – @cmoggs
Faithfull The Brand
How do you organize closet? – Veroushka
I put everything into categories {t-shirts, dresses, blazers, dressy tops} and then organize by color.

[Updated 26/09/17] K-Pop Photocard Sale/Trade & Wishlist
So first off… long time no see… I haven’t been active on this account for quite some time and to be honest I went completely off collecting any photocards. I basically just stuck to ones I got in albums and that was that.
However recently I’ve felt the need to at least try and keep up to date with my VIXX collection. They are my priority first and foremost. This is mainly a wishlist as in reality I have very little to trade or sell but I’ll be putting up those items either way.
Terms/Conditions/Rules etc.
- I’m ONLY looking for VIXX items only minus specific trades (all will be stated in wishlist down below)
- I have a couple of cards which will be trade only (4 girl group cards to be exact) and who I’m trading for will be stated.
- I am shipping worldwide from the UK and will only be accepting PayPal as a payment method! :)
- QYOP (I’m terrible at prices so please let me know what you’d be willing… I have some ideas in mind for price but feel free to offer anyway)
- Please be aware of shipping. I use hard protector sleeves (which I’ve completely forgotten the official name of whilst writing this - can you tell I’ve been away for a while! :P) *EDIT - I found out it was Toploaders which was the word I was after! XD* as well as a little extra padding/protection where I can…. this can bump up the weigh ever so slightly and therefore price. Shipping will also vary depending on your country - Europe shipping is usually between £1-2 where as the US is £2-3 so please take that into consideration.
- Trade for trade rules. I will not do a ‘you trade first’ or ‘I trade first’ thing. We send off at the same time. Photo evidence of receipts must happen. The majority of post offices will give you a ‘proof of postage’ receipt if you ask. I won’t trade with people again and I will call out bad traders if these rules aren’t followed.
- I expect to be able to get in contact with you during our ‘business transaction’ (;D), I’ll let you know about when I’m posting items or when items have arrived and out of respect I expect the same.
- Please expect that I will reject offers, whether or not I’m buying, selling or trading I will reject offers if I don’t deem them suitable. That and the fact that I’m not rich so I have to be careful.
- When I’m buying or trading, I expect full photo proof (preferably with you username written down in the picture - shows its definitely yours then) and preferably some examples of previous transactions. I’ve luckily never been duped before… but I know it happens and I’m not stupid.
- Talking of photo evidence… I will provide photos upon request and in the same manner stated above. (full photos, username in photo etc)
I think that’s it for rules and regulations etc. If I think of anything I add it in due course! :)
Trade only -
~ Oh My Girl Arin (Oh my girl - 1st Mini) – ONLY FOR – Seunghee ~ Oh My Girl Mimi (Summer Special) – ONLY FOR – Seunghee (Priority) or Binnie
~ Oh My Girl Arin (Pink Ocean) – ONLY FOR – Seunghee (Priority) or Binnie
~ GFriend Eunha (Flower Bud) – ONLY FOR – Umji
Trade or Sale -
~ BTS Rap Monster photocard (Young Forever) ~ BTS J-Hope Polaroid (Young Forever) ~ BtoB Peniel (Complete) ~ EXO Suho (Pop Up card - SUM card thing) ~ BEAST/Highlight Yoseob (Beast album - Time) ~ B.A.P Himchan (One Shot) ~ B.A.P Youngjae (One Shot) ~ VIXX LR Ravi Standee (Beautiful Liar) ~ VIXX LR Leo sticker (Beautiful Liar) ~ SHINee Minho (The misconception of me) ~ SHINee Minho (The Misconception of you) ~ SHINee Minho (The Misconception of Us) ~ SHINee Minho (Odd Ver A)
I also have some other EXO Xiumin and Chen (and one Suho) cards which I’m debating whether or not I want to keep so if you looking for either of them hit me up and I’ll let you know what ones they are and if I want to trade them.
Wishlist -

Father’s Day
I wrote this little series of vignettes for Father’s Day (note: I am aware Father’s Day is not universal, from its celebration to the day on which it might fall, but like...go with me here) just for something fun for today. about 1,800 words, including my five favs. The entire OW universe is here, and you can support me by leaving a comment, joining me on Patreon (where you can read an SM Father’s Day ficlet), tipping me on Ko-fi, or getting something from my wishlist. (gifts for Jill, who we all like better than me, are also here) I HOPE YOU LIKE THIS
Winston looked up at the moon at midnight. It had been so many years since it had happened, and he had always assumed he wouldn’t be hurt by it anymore, at some point, and yet that day never seemed to come.
Some of it was the loneliness, the sense that no one could ever understand. Dr. Harold hadn’t actually been his father, right? That was what people thought. Winston was the creation of a science experiment gone horribly wrong, one that had ended with every single scientist dead, and it was really only a fluke that he had not been one of the rebels, one of those who destroyed their creators, because, at the core of it, they really were still animals, right?
That was what they thought, he knew.
And in ways, he wished it were true. He wished it did not hurt to see the Happy Father’s Day cards, and tried not to remember how he had discovered Father’s Day in one of the many encyclopedia that had been around the station. How he had created a small card for Dr. Harold, how Dr. Harold had proudly displayed it on his desk. How he had felt that first brush of the warmth of family, and how it had given him so much joy.
The moon always reminded him, but especially today.
He was not unique, he remembered, in having lost his father. It was the most common thing in the world, among his beloved team. Only D.va and Pharah could say otherwise. But people looked at them with understanding and knowing nods, while they didn’t seem to share the same with Winston, just a simple, ‘oh yes, the incident on the moon.’
Tracer understood him, but Tracer was Tracer, and one could never take anything she thought or did as a human consensus.
He looked up at the moon, and decided to go to bed.
  ___
D.va sat in her room, waiting for the time to be right. When she was serving halfway around the world, there never seemed to be a convenient time to chat with her parents, and so she didn’t get to talk to them as much as she’d like.
People always assumed that the worst parts of her job were the fighting, the never knowing what each day would bring, the thoughts of losing her comrades. And those were, yes, difficult. But it was nothing compared to the sadness she felt at leaving her family behind, even though they were proud of her, and even though she knew it was the right thing for the security of the world, she missed them terribly.
Her father had been such a huge part of everything D.va had grown to be, her gaming, her sense of justice and her part in it, and she had never found the right words to tell him so. Telling people how much she loved them was not exactly her strongest suit--years of growing up one of the preeminent girl gamers had given her a thick skin, and sometimes a thick skin kept things from going out, as well as in.
The little Skype alert went off, and she checked her hair quickly. She wanted to look happy and well-rested when she talked to them, and even though she was supposed to be talking to her father, there was, she thought, zero percent chance that her mother wouldn’t looking over his shoulder and thinking of all the reasons to worry about her Hana.
The camera popped up, the light reflecting in the corners of her Dad’s glasses, and she smiled.
 “Hi Dad!”
“It’s so good to hear from you, Hana. We’ve been reading all about the things you’ve been doing across the world, and we are so proud of you. The world is a better place because of you, you know.”
And I’m a better person because of you.
“I just wanted to say thanks today, Dad.” She shrugged, a little embarrassed. “For everything.”
 “You are worth everything, Hana.”
 “Dad.” She blushed. “Stop.”
 __
Her family had gotten into the business of dying occasionally, as a family that had practically formed the RAF was wont to do, and during World War I, her family had thought it practical to buy more than a few plots out at that nice new cemetery in Newham. They were almost out of those plots now, and Tracer wasn’t sure what they’d do when they were, and no longer had the luxury of thinking that it wouldn’t be her problem.
She poked along the narrow strip of green where Oxton began, old weathered stones bearing names she didn’t really know, and dates that seemed an impossibly long time ago. The first was 1915, she remembered, from visiting here as a child, where she had read every name and wondered what they had been like, as sure as she had wondered what her own mother had really been like. It was easy to be one thing, in stories, and Tracer hung on to the small handful of things she remembered about her mother, that weren’t stories, that she knew for real.
It was a different sort of loss, with her father. Anyone could tell any story they wanted about him, and she could call it up in mind immediately, what he sounded like, the way he moved, the way he’d chuckle and shake his head.
She’d often thought that losing her father was like her house burning down, and losing her mother was like never having had one in the first place. Missing versus longing. Besides, it was hard to be too upset over something that happened to everybody, eventually, it wasn’t personal, it was just how things were.
She settled down in front of one of the newer plaques, the same five letters across the top of it as in the rest of the row. Anne, the aunt she never knew. Mary, her mother. Lena, awkwardly. And Herbert, Bert offered helpfully in quotes next to it, as if anyone who would sit here might forget. There was an RAF roundel next to each name, so common in this line that Tracer had thought, as a child, that it was simply something people put on graves. Only her name was the aberration, where her father had added the Overwatch symbol next to her roundel.
She leaned back against the stone in front of her family’s--she always meant to leave a thank you note for giving her a relatively comfortable way to visit the folks, but she wasn’t sure how it would be taken.
She took her sandwich out of her bag.
“‘Appy Father’s Day, Dad. I brought nothing, but I thought you’d rather ‘ear from me than anything else, any’ow. Emily still loves me, I’ll ‘ave you know, and she’s even agreed to move in, think I may marry ‘er, if she’ll ‘ave me…”
 __
Mercy was so very used to being alone that she never much minded it, and locking herself in her lab seemed like the best option for today, even if she did not have much of a project to work on, just putzing about the lab, here and there.
She had wanted to go with Pharah to visit her father. And she hadn’t wanted to. Every year was like this, and every year the side that won out was a little different, and it was a sign of Pharah’s everlasting love and patience that she never pressured Mercy, just let her decide and took either answer with a cheerful nod and a kiss.
Mostly it was that Mercy was afraid, seeing how Pharah’s father loved her, she might burst into tears right there at the table, and ruin Father’s Day.
Her father had loved her, too, in a world that seemed a lifetime ago, growing up on the edge of Zurich, in that house with the wide wooden beams that she had known and loved so well. The way he used to quiz her on little things, and beam and laugh, loud and deep, over how clever she was. How she was his genius little girl, and there was nothing she couldn’t do, and she would change the world.
She was so young, when it all happened, that she never could have imagined it, freshly bat mitzvah and turned out into the world, some cruel joke of a God that decided she was a woman now, she supposed, in her more bitter moments. She thought of her parents often, wheen the big and little things happened. When she graduated medical school. When she married. When the cards in shops started to proclaim about good fathers.
Alone in the lab, she believed she could do it. That she had done it. That she could make everything mean something, including the Father’s Day card she had sent, to an address that was nothing more than a hole in the ground in Zurich.
   ____
Pharah waited at the table. Her father was not her mother, and it was easy for her to see why they had never solemnized their involvement with each other. Her mother was regimented and would never dream of being late, wry and sly and subtle. Her father was...not.
She often wondered what her life would have been like if he had raised her primarily instead of Ana, but then, Pharah rather liked herself just the way she was, and this other, foreign Pharah who might have been a completely different person did not necessarily appeal to her.
Which is not to say she didn’t love her father. She did, very much, and she had come to appreciate how nice it was to have a simple and uncomplicated relationship with a parent, where she never worried how he would see her, where there was never any struggle for control of the conversation, for some dominance, where Pharah never had anything to prove.
So she could take a little being late.
He walked in, 20 minutes after he said he would be there, but it was impossible for Pharah not to forgive him immediately, the way his face lit up at the sight of her, the way he drew his arms around her immediately and held her tight, never intimidated by his daughter, the way others were. He saw her as his precious girl and never as a commander, and he may have been the only person on earth from whom Pharah could find that charming.
“Fareeha! You look so good! Where is that beautiful wife of yours?” He looked about the restaurant, as if Pharah might have just been sticking her in a corner.
“You know how hard she works, Dad.”
“I know,” He pulled out a chair and sat down, grinning, “You’re afraid your old Dad’s going to embarrass you in front of such a pretty girl.”
“You have already done that,” Pharah laughed, “multiple times.”
“And still she married you. It’s that Amari beauty, we’re all suckers for it, I understand.” He picked up the menu. “What should we get, pumpkin? They make great crepes here, I know you like those.” He looked over at her and smiled. “It’s so nice to see you.”
 “Happy Father’s Day, Dad.”

I cannot take any credit for the concept of this post – this week, the stunningly wonderful Melody Mae published her Wednesday Wishlist full of beautiful acrylic jewellery. She’s highlighted her favourite designers of plastic accessories, and it got me thinking about how much I’ve been buying from similar brands recently. So thank you for inspiring this post Melody, and I apologise that I’m probably going to make your wishlist a lot bigger by introducing you to these creatives!
Here’s a roundup of my favourite acrylic jewellery designers, and some of their designs:
Finest Imaginary
I absolutely adore Finest Imaginary. I stumbled upon them while searching for a significantly northern present for my friend (enter the It’ll Be Reet enamel pin!). This Yorkshire based, independent studio belongs to Kim Lawler, a designer and crafter whose beautiful creations utilise a range of colours, textures, incredible details, and homages to vintage trends.
“We’re passionate about making talk-about-able designs that you’ll love for years.”
Diamond Terrarium Necklace £30.00 | “Hello My Name Is…” necklace/brooch £40.00 (currently sold out!)
I mean… look at that tiny terrarium. Look at it! Friggin adorable. There are other succulent items in the shop too!
I’m really hoping that the Name Necklaces will be available again soon, as I can see Patti Cakes on a mint green version that needs to be around my neck!
Palm Springs Mid Century House Necklace £35.00 | Palm Springs Mid Century Block Wall Necklace £40.00
I especially loved the Palm Springs range that Kim brought out, as it’s a recognisably retro style and the attention to detail is absolutely gorgeous. As the brand suggests, these pieces are definite conversation starters, and I can fully confirm you’ll receive endless compliments.
Holly Hocks
I’m really happy I came across Holly Hocks jewellery when shopping for some earrings to match my Watermelon Lady V London Dress, featured in this blog post. Bright, colourful, bold designs with a distinct theme in mind, Holly Hocks suits my style perfectly! They are super affordable and created in Colchester, England.
Iridescent Monstera Leaf Earrings £7.50 | Iridescent Geometric Statement Earrings £7.50
I love the iridescent colourway of the acrylic used in these designs. It goes from green to pink and everything in between, and looks amazing in the sunshine. I’ve had many compliments on my monstera leaves, and love the fact they match so many outfits!
Retro Hippy Flower Earrings £6.50 | Green Monstera Leaf Earrings £7.50
I’m not ashamed to admit I now own the green monstera leaf earrings on the right too. I can’t get enough of tropical accessories! These gorgeous big yellow flowers have an amazing hippy vibe, and would look great with a floaty summer maxi dress and tousled hair. There are even bigger and bolder designs available in the etsy shop – take a look!
Liz Harry
I originally found Liz Harry because of her amazing enamel pins. I quickly realised that her other offerings were just as unique, with amazing cult-classic themed collections including The Wizard of Oz. Through social media, Liz listens to what her customers want, and runs kickstarter campaigns to gauge the popularity of her designs. She’s also a talented graphic artist with an impressive range of published album artwork under her belt, for artists including Jessie J, Nicki Minaj and Queen! What a Badass Woman!
Science Fiction Movie Ticket Pendant £25.00  | Switchblade Knife Necklace £45.00
For the cult-classic minded amongst you, these are from Liz’s awesome Rocky Horror Picture Show range. I bought the red enamel badge version of the move ticket, and It’s so perfectly niche my boyfriend has been eyeing it up for himself. A lot of Liz’s creations are limited in numbers, and sometimes you’ve got to be quick when she releases something new!
Another one for musical lovers, Liz’s Grease range has some pretty nifty, unique tributes to the classic film. I especially love the different finishes of acrylic she uses within each design, and the wooden comb teeth are such a gorgeous touch. Again, if you fall in love with these, you better be quick!
Sugar and Vice
Sarah and Matt created Sugar and Vice back in 2007, and are based in Canterbury. Their in-house ranges are immensely popular, and they’ve also has successful collaborations in the past with other brands and designers. Sugar and Vice create quirky and affordable jewellery and accessories, and have recently released an awesome mental health awareness collection which calls out to me.
Invisible Illness Club Necklace £12.00 | Tik Tok Necklace £22.00
It was really hard for me to narrow down my favourites from this brand to 4 examples! There’s just far to many gorgeous items for sale on both their etsy and their own site. I really love pop-culture references like Tik Tok from Return To Oz, as a relatable little character from a lesser-known film can result in making friends with strangers, receiving endless compliments, and jazzing up a basic outfit all in one go!
Sun and Moon Tarot Necklace £22.00 | Solar System Necklace £25.00
Like most of the brands I’ve featured, Sugar and Vice also stock some pretty awesome enamel pin badges, some of which I definitely need to add to my collection! Now… how much do I need to save up for the amount that’s in my Sugar and Vice wishlist?!
Kitschy Bling & Things
I’m yet to make a purchase from this shop, but after viewing their range I can categorically state there is no way I’m missing out on these designs. From tasteful to downright tacky, Kitschy Bling & Things have you covered. Some of the interesting concepts that have been worked into their designs include childhood hobbies like Skalextric tracks and controllers!
Burlesque Glove and Bra Brooch £18.00 | Picnic Basket Necklace £25.00
That burlesque brooch is perfection, and going straight in my basket. I’m really impressed with how unique some of the designs are, in what is quickly becoming a very saturated market. I can’t wait to see what they bring out next!
Ice Cream Spoon Necklace £30.00 | Pin Cushion Brooch £30.00
This ice cream spoon necklace is particularly kitsch, and I love that you can go even more OTT with matching earrings! As for that brooch, I couldn’t imagine a more adorable homage to your mum or grandma, or any sewing fanatic who has almost definitely had a tomato pin cushion at some point!
Little Pig
From Derbyshire, Little Pig was created in 2014 and have gained popularity through their cute designs and features at tradeshows. I found the stand back in February at London Edge, and had a wonderful chat with the designer about what inspires her collections. I’ve noticed that the gorgeous Kelly has been slowly growing her Little Pig collection recently, and I don’t think I can catch up with her!
Broken Heart Brooch £20.00 | Be Mine Pen Brooch £22.00
Although I’m a sucker for details, I love how clean and simple the Little Pig designs are, and a lot of the neutral colour-ways give you more options to wear them. The brand created the monochrome Edge Edit especially for London Edge, and I remember being enchanted by their greyscale rainbow as that’s definitely something you don’t see every day, and could be seen as quite symbolic.
Bingo Card Earrings £18.00 | Jammy Brooch £20.00
As a keen bingo-goer (no joke, my bestie and I go at least once a month), I can assure you I have my beady eye on those earrings for next payday. All the old biddies will be well jell when I walk in wearing those. Hands off Mildred, they’re mine!
Right. Well. I best get saving then mustn’t I?! Unless I get a big win at the bingo, it’s gonna take a long time to afford all these bad boys.
A #treatyoself attitude can only get you so far in life!
Do you shop with or know of any other acrylic accessories designers? Seen something tacky and thought of me? Leave a comment below!

Santa baby, all I want is a robot
Santa baby, all I want is a robot

An artificial intelligence holiday wishlist
Everywhere I turn, there are articles about artificial intelligence (AI) and automation, the rise of robots and what it means for employees in all types of businesses. (Note: As you may have read in some of our previous blog posts, we think the accounting profession will fare a-ok.) Driverless cars and trucks are already a reality and have had both their first accidents and delivered their first kegs of beer. Not at the same time. While it is still a little difficult for me to wrap my head around the fact my son and daughter may do minimal driving as adults, I am more than ready for robots to lend a hand in a few other departments. Because isn’t the point of these things to take on tasks that consume too much time allowing me to focus on what really matters?
Holiday shopping. Every year, I spend hours hunting for the perfect gifts for my husband, who just wants Adidas to start making his favorite wind pants from 1997 again. (Note to Adidas: please don’t.) He wants nothing else and is generally horrible to shop for. I would gladly outsource this job to a robot. Who can then wrap the presents.
Clean my house. Where is Rosie (the Jetsons robot maid) when I need her? I know I could buy a Roomba, but a Roomba can’t dust, or change the diaper pail, or scrub the shower or toilet, or do my laundry.
Make repairs. Since my husband and I bought our house a year and a half ago, a tree fell through our fence, our garage roof needed to be replaced, our entire plumbing system got clogged and our upstairs toilet intermittently starts running for no reason. A fix-it robot would come in handy.
Cook. I love to cook. But the current state of my life—working mom with working husband and two kids ages 3 and 11 months—means there’s very little time to find joy in getting a meal on the table once I get home from work.
Schedule appointments. I am notoriously awful at doing anything that involves calling people on the phone—whether it is making appointments or ordering food, I avoid phone-related tasks until it is no longer possible to do so.
Organize my stuff. From piles of paper to music and electronic photos, I never seem to have the time to make sense of it all. I have empty picture frames in my den, paintings without frames in my basement, a mirror that has needed to be hung for more than a year. And don’t even get me started on my futile attempts to organize, store and purge my children’s old clothes, not to mention organizing my own summer and winter stuff in a less haphazard manner.
Inventory my pantry and closets. How many times have I discovered at the last minute that I have four cans of diced tomatoes but no cans of tomato sauce? Or I’ve run out of a spice. Or my kid doesn’t have any more toothpaste.
Teach me how to do things. This year I considered building a hot cocoa stand to use as a prop for my kids’ holiday card photos. But I have no idea how to build such a thing, and even with directions, I think some assistance from a friendly robot would make all the difference in my success.
While the prospect of robots becoming a regular part of society may cause concern for some, the ways they can improve our lives is endless. When my kids are older, I want them to remember the time they spent with me, the things we did, the fun we had rather than me trying (and failing) to keep the house organized. So, Santa, if you could hurry up and deliver a jack-of-all-trades robot to help me out, I’ll leave your favorite kind of cookies next to the tree.

The Berlin Bazaar Broads
Spanning over 50 years of business, we can unabashedly say that the most talented and vibrant people come to work at Clovers Natural Market.  2017 is no different :)
Meet Nikki and Julie, Clovers staff and friends. Didn’t take long for these two to put their heads together and dream up something so delightfully bizarre, that Columbia just can’t get enough of it!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Nikki and Julie are the “broads” behind Columbia’s newest indie craft fair, The Berlin Bazaar. I got to ask them a few questions about the bazaar, how they thought of it, what they look for in vendors, and what they hope to see in the future!
Tumblr media
We have a lot of festivals, art fairs, and First Friday art walks in Columbia, but there's something very unique about the Berlin Bazaar that stands a part from the rest!! How would you describe the bazaar?
J:  If I had to describe it to someone who'd never been to one, I'd say it's a three dimensional experience: its music, food, art, and a market environment all rolled into one.   N: The Bazaar has a super laid-back, open air feel to it. There is a LOT going on but at the same time it's a little like going to a friends backyard get together. You run into all your buddies and neighbors but also get to meet a ton of new faces. This is a big reason why we keep it Missouri-based and local.
Columbia has definitely responded well to this awesome event!! Where did the clairvoyance for the Berlin Bazaar come from?
J: I remember going to the Broadway Clovers one day and Nikki was in the back room talking about an idea for an event she had. She was talking about an event that I had also been dreaming of doing for so long!!! When I lived in Austin I had a huge idea to have an event (just like the Bazaar), but it never happened.  Nikki and I threw back ideas and I told her I'd love to help her make this happen. She called a meeting and the rest is history. N: For me, the Bazaar was just a flicker of an idea until that fateful day when Julie overheard me rambling about how cool it would be to organize a quirky local craft fair. She chimed in about wanting to do something similar and it just clicked into place. We started with a big, wonderful group of planners and no idea what we were doing. Everything came together beautifully, though we have hit a few snags and learned many lessons along the way. Now, Julie and I plan the Bazaar as a duo with a lot of help from our awesome sponsors and collaborators.
With over forty Missouri based vendors, what kind of artisan are you looking for? Do you have plans to expand this number in the future?
J: We look for makers who are pushing the envelope, for innovative design, for quality work that's modern and fresh. We want people who are making work that people want to buy, to look at, to touch, to live with. N: Yes! We are definitely still growing! We are drawn to folk art and craft, rather than fine art, and that informs the selections for vendors. Modern, quirky and functional are a few key factors. We choose vendors who are making things that we want to interact with, things that we would want to use in our own homes or wear or look at everyday.
Third time's a charm! What do you two have up your sleeves for this third annual Berlin Bazaar? Anything different that attendee's should look out for?
J: We've tried to up the ante on the interact-ability of the bazaar this year. We've got a huge kids area planned that is going to be so much fun. We've got artists coming in from St. Louis and Kansas City this year. We've got food from Birdhouse Fried Chicken Pop Up this year. And we still have all the things that make the Bazaar great--music, art, and a true community vibe. N: Yes! So excited about Jamie Davis' Birdhouse Pop-up, The Atelier's craft area for kiddos, Story time from Yellow Dog bookshop, Cristy Lillig's cardboard sculptures, 5 Local Bands and so many Exciting Vendors!! Also, look forward to delicious drink specials from Cafe Berlin and plenty of Logboat beer!
Food, drinks, kids craft area, music, and of course over forty artisans to browse, looks like you guys have all the bases covered! Anything else that's on your wishlist for future bazaars?
J: I've always wanted to have an over the top performance: a marching band, a gospel choir, a flash mob. My dream for the Bazaar is to have it evolve into a destination festival, an experience as well as a market; something that inspires you after you've gone home.   N: I love the hyper-local aspect but we are looking to expand and bring in regional artisans too. As we grow, more and more exciting things get brought to the table. I think Julie will get her wish and we'll be able to bring in something BIG for a future bazaar. ;)

Congrats broads!! The Berlin Bazaar is Saturday, September 9th, 2017, 12-6 pm at Cafe Berlin. For more info and news about the bazaar, follow them on facebook or instagram :)

Goodreads Tag:
Since I’m pretty new at Goodreads, I decided to do this tag for fun. So let’s go!
1.    What was the last book you marked as read?
·       I think the last book I marked as read was the Neuromancer by William Gibson. I have bitched about this book endlessly and wrote a really detailed review on Goodreads, which you can check out at your leisure.
2.    What are you reading currently?
·       I am reading Ubik by Phillip K Dick. I am enjoying it a lot, the plot is super interesting even if the characters aren’t great. I’ve heard people say that Dick is more interested in theme rather than characters, and judging by this, the first 30 pages of Simulacra and the short stories Paycheck and Minority Report, I can say that’s definitely true.
3.    What’s the last book on your TBR?
·       The last book is actually a play, and it’s Rope by Patrick Hamilton. I’ve been meaning to read this play ever since I saw the Hitchcock movie, mostly because I heard that the character of Rupert (in the movie played by James Stewart) is even more amazing and entertaining. I’m always interested in a good who-done-it story.
4.   What book will you be reading next?
·       Call Me By Your Name by Andre Aciman. I’ve been meaning to read this book in a long time, but the trailer for the film just came out and it made me incredibly excited to read it. I think the last time I was this excited about a film was Carol.
5.    Do you use the star rating system?
·       Yes! For me 5 starts is a perfect book, I think I’ve given it to like maybe 4 books?  4 is a great book that I would read again. 3 is I enjoyed it but it has problems. 2 is I didn’t like it but I finished it and 1 is either DNF or barely suffered through it (usually because I had to).
6.   Do you have a wishlist?
·       On Goodreads? No. In general, if a book is on my TBR but not on the TBR I own shelf, then it’s on my wishlist.
7.    What book would you buy next?
·       I actually ordered a bunch of books from Book Outlet and they have yet to arrive. I got: The Serpent of Venice by Christopher Moore, Rooms by Lauren Oliver, Shadow and Bone and Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo, The Rise of the Empire by Various and the Watchmaker of Filigree Street by Natasha Pulley.
8.   Who are your favourite authors?
·       I haven’t marked any on Goodreads because I’m not sure how that system works, but my faves are: Greg Rucka, Matt Fraction, Venko Andonovski, J K Rowling, Geoff Johns, and Robert Krause. Honourable shout-out to Jeph Loeb for writing the best Batman story ever.
9.   Have you joined any groups?
·       I have so far joined 1 group, and it’s Fantasy Buddy Reads.
·     This tag is so, so old, so everyone and their mother has done it already. If you want more book related stuff, let me know!

Hey Guys!
I actually did it! I went a whole month without needing to do a book haul! Progress! Lol. Oh well, I have a pretty big book haul today. I haven’t been buying as much as usual, but it has been 2 and a half months since I last wrote a book haul, plus I have had my birthday, so I do have quiet a lot of books (whoops). But, without further a do, lets get down to business.
Tumblr media
Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher – WHSmith (£7.99)
A Court Of Wings And Ruin by Sarah J Maas – WHSmith – (£3.99)
Did I buy the whole trilogy before even reading one? Yes, yes I did
The Names They Gave Us by Emery Lord – WHSmith (BOGOHP)
Who Runs The World? By Virinia Bergin – WHSmith (BOGOHP)
Bridget Jones Baby by Helen Fielding – WHSmith (£3.99)
Moxie by Jennifer Mathieu – WHSmith (BOGOHP)
The Start Of Me And You by Emery Lord – WHSmith (BOGOHP)
Wilde Like Me by Louise Pentland – WHSmith (£6.49)
Tumblr media
The Sun Is Also A Star by Nicola Yoon – ASDA (2 for £7)
A Whole New World by Liz Braswell – ASDA (2 for £7)
Where Rainbows End by Cecelia Ahern – ASDA (2 for £7)
Johnny Be Good by Paige Toon – ASDA (2 for £7)
I feel the need to clarify that this was not all in one transaction. In fact it was in two in different months. one right at the end of May, the other midway through June.
Tumblr media
Mosquitoland by David Arnold – Amazon (£2.81)
Nick And Norah’s Infinite Playlist by Rachel Cohn and David Levithan – Amazon (£2.81)
The Immortal Rules by Julie Kagawa – Amazon (£2.04)
The Eternity Cure by Julie Kagawa – Amazon (£2.81)
I already own and have read The Immortal Rules but I have put of reading the rest of the trilogy because it is impossible to get a matching set of books. They changed the cover design after the first book, but never re-released the first book in a matching edition. Which is annoying as hell. I currently own the first book in the non-dustcover hardback edition, but you literally cannot get anything even close to that in the rest of the trilogy, so I have ordered the original paperback edition, with the girl on the front and I have got the same version of the second book. I know there is a version of the third in this cover, I just need to try and find it, but so far I haven’t been able to. It is nearly impossible. I really hate it when publishes do this. Hopefully I will be able to find it eventually.
Here I Stand by Various – Amazon (£5.40)
Bridget Jones Diary by Helen Fielding – Amazon (£2.87)
Bridget Jones: The Edge Of Reason by Helen Fielding – Amazon (£2.80)
Bridget Jones: Mad About The Boy by Helen Fielding – Amazon (£2.13)
I read the e-book of the first Bridget Jones last year and I loved it, and I was looking through Goodreads the other day and realised how long it has been since I read it, so I decided to order the rest of the books and carry on reading them (I have also brought the latest book, but from somewhere else). I cant wait to carry on with these books, they are so funny.
Tumblr media
Lady Midnight by Cassandra Clare – Amazon (3 for £10)
Cogheart by Peter Bunzl – Amazon (3 for £10)
Windfall by Jennifer E Smith – Amazon (3 for £10)
Tumblr media
Five Nights At Freddies: The Silver Eyes by Scott Cawthon and Kira Breed-Wrisley – The Works (£2)
Just One Damned Thing After Another by Jodi Taylor – The Works (£2)
Eleanor And Park by Rainbow Rowell – The Works (£1)
Gotta love a clearance section lol
Death Note (Volumes 1 to 5) by Tsugumi Ohba – Age UK (£1.29 each)
Nothing better then spotting a book that you ave wanted for ages in a charity shop for pennies! I was walking home from work one day and spotted these on a table outside a charity shop and I am so glad that I stopped and looked at them. Such a brilliant price and I honestly don’t think that these have ever been read. I am sad that they didn’t have more of the series there, as I would have brought more of them at that price.
Tumblr media
Harry Potter And The Philosopher’s Stone 20th Anniversary House Editions by J K Rowling – Birthday
My parents got me a copy of all four house editions in hardback for my birthday. They are just so damn beautiful and I love them. I am very tempted to buy myself the paperback versions of them as well lol.
By Your Side by Kasie West – Birthday
A Promise Of Fire by Amanda Bouchet – Birthday
The Dark Days Club by Alison Goodman – Birthday
My sister brought me these three and they all sound amazing. I had By Your Side on my wishlist but the other two are new to me and I am really looking forward to reading them.
And that is everything all of the books that I have gotten over the last couple of months. I have been reading a lot recently so I don’t think that it is too bad that I have brought this many….who am I kidding, I have a problem lol. What have you brought lately? I hope that you have enjoyed today’s post and I will see you all again very soon.

FASHION FRIDAY: My Spring Shopping List
First off I want to say a huge thank you to all of you who left such amazing, thoughtful comments on the ten year anniversary post! They meant so much to me and really rejuvenated me as far as blogging goes. And since many of you said Fashion Fridays were your favorite posts, I won’t delay any further. Here is a round up of things I have recently bought for spring or have on my wishlist. I currently hate every single winter item I have (and pretty much all my spring stuff form last year since I was nursing then and limited in what I wore). I really just want to light everything on fire in my driveway. So I plan to do a lot of shopping for spring!!!
I always buy myself a new Tory tunic in spring- I wear them constantly as they are so easy to dress up or down! Worth the investment. (I also like this one. And this one. Uh oh.)
I never wear lipstick, and I love the bright pink tint of this super emollient balm.  Perfect hint of color to just wake up your face (no mirror necessary).
I love the popular dramatic triple ball earrings, but sometimes they are just TOO much for daytime. So I like this mini version! Still fun, but more wearable!
How classically pretty and flattering is this summer dress?
I have not one pair of strappy black heels and I LOVE the style of these. Time to get a pair.
I recently bought this mascara and I love that its natural and cruelty free but actually WORKS. A natural look but also a kick to your volume and curl.
Since I am chasing after a busy toddler I need some cute slip on sneaks for spring- adore the putty suede of these Keds!
Stripes + lace up detail= SOLD.
I can’t do the whole cropped, wide-leg denim trend, but I can do the skinny cropped released hem one These look PERFECT.
I have a major concealer problem. In that I buy them all. I still love my Cle de Peau but tried this one and looked SUPER awake! It’s on order now.
I just got this dress from J. Crew yesterday and its a great weight (thicker than most), fit and had the CUTEST button detail ont he sleeve AND a tiny navy piping running down the sides! LOVE.
I love the cut and print of this maxi dress for a summer night out.
This white tweed lady jacket is a perfect staple with jeans for work.
These perforated flats are a great color and allow your feet to breath while concealing a three week old chipped pedicure
This shirt just makes me smile- with white jeans and big earrings…. makes me SO happy summer is coming!
