Gotta say, running a full and proper Carian Knight build in Elden Ring so far has been both very fun and decently strong, commanding pretty alright damage, strong versatility at many ranges, a very wide and variable moveset with plenty of tools for almost any situation, and frighteningly good pressure when applied correctly!
so far it seems like the biggest weakness of this build so far is realizing that in order to make it work the way I want I'm gonna have to level Intelligence, Dexterity, Strength, Endurance, Mind and Vigor simultaneously
Early game (which I'm still in, so I can't speak for mid or late game yet) it seems very hungry for levels, and it's been something of a struggle to get this character off the ground
That said, despite the slower start she's showing a lot of promise already, I just hope she doesn't drastically fall off in effectiveness around Mountaintops, like some other builds I've run
#I have a long list of weapons and spells I want to use#admittedly I've got most of the spells already#and they all require a buncha levels in a lotta shit#so it's a lot harder to tank up than it is with other builds I've ran#HELL of a lot harder to tank up than it was with Patty#who started out with the stats required for everything she needed so all I had to do from the start was pump vigor#lmao#so far it seems like she keeps running out of either health fp or both between graces#one of those can be mitigated by simply gittin' gud but the other one I just gotta put more levels into I guess#because I'm not gonna go through the trouble of gathering those flashy sword spells and the means to cast them and then just not do that#I don't buy pastries just to look at 'em ya feel?#pun's text posts#Elden Ring

I'm actually crying omg youre so kind
(Tumblr fricking closed on me when I was almost done and I had to write this all over again AAAAAAH)
Uhhhh I guess I'll start with some game mechanics and info about my first OC:
"Twist" the Mobile
Name: Twist(Called Twisty by her friend Meta)
Gender: Female
Age: 20
Stats(Playing):
Health:
♡♡♡
Skill Check:
☆☆
Movement Speed:
☆☆☆☆
Stamina:
☆☆☆
Stealth:
☆
Extraction Speed:
☆☆☆☆☆
This is Twist. She's a mobile.(You know, the ones for kids? She's a planet mobile.)
She has a very close relationship with her chldhood friend named Meta,(who I'll ramble on about later)practically inseparable from her. Who knows what would happen if Meta were to just disappear…
Here are her game mechanics, both Twisted and Playing. Rest of the stuff will come after cause this is too long. Keep an eye out for bits of lore scattered in...
Game Mechanics(Twisted):
Rare
(Due to her song's hypnotising ability)
Speed: Average
Mechanic: Has a song that will temporarily hypnotise the player into going towards them.(More details below)
Attention Span: High
Detection Range: Low
Half of the planets that normally would circle around her head have been dipped in ichor, and the other half have pieces broken off of them. The once pure white hoop that holds all the planets has also been splattered with ichor. ...You can see smudges if you look closely.
Has a recording made for children to help them calm down that will eerily play once in a while. It’s become staticy and quiet since she was turned into a Twisted, and so is somehow hypnotising. If she's spotted you and the tune plays, you'll walk towards her for 1.5 seconds.(Keep in mind: walk, not run.) This event purely depends on if you have bad timing and how far away from her you are. If you happen to be playing the character Meta, you'll be drawn to her until she takes one heart of damage from you.(Lore?)
When she pauses in her walking(like Tisha), she'll stare at one of her planets and reach up to tug it. It's a habit(caused by stress) she's kept through becoming Twisted.
Game Mechanics(Playing):
Her skill, "Glow Stars" lights up the room a bit, making it easier to see. Doesn't light up you, only the room you used it in, so if you walk out of the room, it'll be dark again. Is permanent, but you can only use it once. Be wise with it. Especially handy for blackouts.
When paired with a another player who's using Meta, she'll get a speed buff of 10%. If there's a Twisted Meta on the floor, she'll get a -10% speed debuff. The player and Twisted(if on the same floor) cancel each other's abilities out.
Requirements to buy:
3000 Ichor
100% Research on Twisted Meta
Walk 120000 meters
I might draw her later but for now everything else. God this takes so long but I'm really excited to see people's reactions...will continue later. It's 1:49 am and I need to get a snack/drink.
-A
Wait I love this idea!! A mobile. . . Omg I would have never thought of that!! And the gameplay is cool too!! Oh, I want to see her design so bad!! :00
This is so awesome!!!

NSB (Straud Legacy) Gen 9 Ep 65: An Evening in Del Sol
The Story of a Family
---------------------------------------------
Luigi was overjoyed when Wren texted to tell him that Isra had awoken from her coma a couple days after his visit. He didn’t really think The Watcher worked like a wishing well, but he was happy to have made the effort for his old friend. The good news kept coming as he soon learned that he’d ended the semester with top marks. Even with all his dating drama he’d managed to stay on top of everything – needing less sleep really made a difference!
He was excited to celebrate the end of the term with both his girls. An accomplishment like this surely deserved to be celebrated twice!
---------------------------------------------
He started with Amaya, calling up Scott who was happy to arrange for that dinner with his grandfather he’d suggested the last time they’d gotten together. When Luigi worried about Amaya’s likely extreme enthusiasm to meet the famous actor turned mage, he was assured that “Grandpa Orange is quite used to handling crowds of over-eager fan girls, one excitable sim will be no problem at all.”
He was headed out the door when he got a text from his date: “My dorm! STAT! It’s a fashion emergency!” Considering Luigi’s primary requirements for clothing these days were “green and comfortable” he wasn’t sure how much help he’d be, but he dutifully made his way to campus.
---------------------------------------------
He arrived to the welcome if distracting site of Amaya in her underwear. Sadly, she beckoned him over to the dresser, not the bed, as she lamented:
“I have no idea what to wear to meet ORANGE BAILEY-MOON and the only thing worse than being late is being poorly dressed!”.
Her eyes traveled appraisingly up and down his own ensemble, muttering to herself “he always wears green, so that’s no help, but party wear, I can work with that” before spinning in a circle and exclaiming “it’s time for the world’s fastest fashion show!”
Before he could reply she told him “get your phone out and get ready” before diving into her dresser.
---------------------------------------------
Luigi didn’t know anyone could move as fast as Amaya moved then. In the blink of an eye, she had thrown on a cute dress and jacket combo, smiling and gesturing for him to take a picture. As soon as he fumbled his phone open and complied, she was back at it, changing into the next ensemble.
She cycled through a handful of outfits, then gestured for his phone, flipping through the pictures he’d just taken.
He could only chuckle when she settled on the very first outfit, saying “alrighty then hot stuff, lets hit the pinnacles and meet a star!”
---------------------------------------------
Scott and Bria met them at the entrance to the mansion Orange had inherited from his parents when they passed. After taking the time to ooh and ahh over the storied heirloom ring the pair had finally acquired for their official engagement they headed inside.
Orange turned off the TV and rose to greet them as they entered. Luigi and the others smiled politely but Amaya practically launched herself at the B-lister, gushing about how “awesome” it was to meet him and how “amazing” he’d been in her all-time favorite film “A Date With Destiny”.
The perpetually young man was as smooth as predicted, offering her memorabilia and promising “juicy, behind the scenes stories” from his time on set.
---------------------------------------------
After a lovely and lively meal, Orange bid Luigi and Amaya goodbye, while asking Scott and Bria to stick around to talk about their wedding plans.
As they approached the teleport station at the bottom of the hill Amaya grinned and asked if Luigi still that blindfold on him.
“I sure do! What do you have in mind, hmmm?” She got close and tied it around his eyes once more telling him “hopefully this time the surprise is more to your taste.” As she took his hand and guided him along, he called out “don’t lead me into any bushes! Or at least check them for thorns first.”
---------------------------------------------
After a short trip Luigi suddenly bumped into something soft and warm. It turned out to be his amorous date, who kissed him deeply as she unbound his eyes. Opening them after that wonderful surprise, he found himself less than thrilled about Amaya’s chosen destination… again.
They were in front of a giant skate park, crowded with sims, where he had been hoping for a nice hotel, or even that bush he’d been “joking” about.
He did his best to keep an open mind as she exclaimed “We’re going to have so much fun!” Practically dragging him behind her to the rink.
---------------------------------------------
Luigi had never skated before, and it didn’t seem like Amaya had much experience either. He didn’t enjoy falling on his butt every few minutes, but Amaya took it all in stride which helped him appreciate the comedy of the whole thing. On the bright side it was a good workout!
It was surprisingly freeing once he got the hang of it, feeling like he was flying over the floorboards for longer and faster each time before his inevitable low altitude crash landing. The night flew by in a literal blur, with the pair limping back home when the rink finally closed.
Coming off his adrenaline high, the ground painfully solid beneath his sore and leaden body, Luigi kissed his manic pixie dream girl goodbye without even thinking of asking her to woohoo. He didn’t regret tonight at all though and couldn’t wait to see what crazy adventure she’d lead him too next.

I hope you don’t take this the wrong way, I’m just wondering. I noticed that you only seem to rec your friends. Also you ignore some of the fics from fests that you participate in when it’s courtesy to read and comment on everything.
This one has been sitting around for ages, possibly since last years Erised. I don’t normally feel the need to justify any of my decisions as a fan, I don’t feel I NEED to this time either but it is actually something I’ve seen pop up over many years and I’ve decided to answer it this one time only. I’ll probably ignore or delete any other asks on the same topic.
So, everyone participating in a fest reading and commenting on everyone else’s work seems like the ideal, right? In reality, some people want to write about things that you as a participant absolutely cannot handle - for me that’s usually MCD, terminal illness, infidelity, domestic violence, severe depression, and lots of other things. That’s what the tags and warnings are for, of course, and I’m using them appropriately. Have I read and enjoyed stories with any/all of those themes before? Yep. That doesn’t change that generally these themes affect me negatively so generally I avoid them. If and when I feel like I can handle them, I might try them out. Only I can know when I might be ready to do that. It might not be during the course of Wireless or Suds or whatever the fest I’m part of is. That doesn’t mean others shouldn’t write that content. It doesn’t mean I should harden up and just read it for the sake of etiquette.
Sometimes I simply cannot handle the size of the fic. I don’t feel the need to describe my whole life, but I work full time, I have family commitments, I need to do regular life things like washing and shopping and cooking and the dishes. Fics under probably 20K feel more manageable, I can read that on my lunch break or maybe before work, but more likely before bed. Longer stuff requires more time (obviously) and I’m not good at putting something down when I start it and pulling an all nighter mid-week is way harder when you’re 40.
Some of my closest fandom friends have big and popular fics that I haven’t got around to reading yet. Some of them have short ones that are heavy on topics that I can’t cope with right now. Not to put words in your mouth, but its unfair to assume the reason for my lack of attention is that I don’t care about them or I’m not appropriately prioritising my fandom time. I’ll get there eventually, or maybe I won’t. My friendships are hopefully strong enough to endure me not reading their stuff and them not reading mine. My friendships are not based on what those people can create for me or how they can promote my work.
As far as reccing goes, I’m a very inconsistent reccer. My goal for 2022 was to do more reccing and I did none. None recs with left beef. I’m not generally trawling for fic (the way I did as a 22 year old approximately one thousand years ago) and so I mainly see fic from authors I have already encountered and loved, via AO3 user subscriptions. My next gateway is via recs from friends (the magnificent @sitp-recs for example). I’ve been very lucky to have had people I deeply admire and enjoy become off-stage pals, but I’m not reccing them on a friendship basis. If I had to guess I would say my most consistent recs are of authors who I have had lovely, delightful interactions with but who I don’t have established friendships with. No stats but I reckon @lqtraintracks @writcraft and @letteredlettered would be people who pretty much always write things that make me lose my fuckin mind but we’re not part of a DM frenzy that involves graphic discussion of our latest health dramas, what we ate for dinner, what shenanigans our pets and siblings have got up to (that’s @shiftylinguini whether she likes it or not). I rec the BABY CHEESES out of them despite this.
What it boils down to is that I will engage the way I feel comfortable engaging, when I feel like it. I definitely have people I avoid (generally those who express terfy sentiments) and people I’m dragged towards like a magnet. It is what it is. I’m sorry if you have been a person who I haven’t engaged with and if you feel badly about that. It’s probably for benign reasons (see above), unless it’s because of one of the bad reasons.

witchspring r is a game that i am liking a lot. i hesitate to call it a good game, because it has a lot of things that a lot of people wouldn't like, but it pushes a lot of my favorite buttons in a lot of very nice ways. ended up typing a bunch so if you want to hear me ramble check the readmore
the main thing about it is that there's a whole bunch of grinding. i don't mind grinding; in fact i quite enjoy it when it's implemented right, and witchspring r does it in a way i really enjoy. everything in the game follows on a sort of global timer, and any action you take advances the timer on every other thing. so a low level gathering point might respawn after 2 or 3 ticks of the timer, while rare resources and bosses might require 10 or 15 ticks, and particularly rare resources might take even longer. this means that i don't get stuck in a loop of fighting the same enemy group hundreds of times in a row hoping to get good drops - i fight the few groups of the enemy, then run off to fight other groups of enemies or pick up useful items, then when i go home and rest, i can go back to the first group of enemies to find them respawned and ready to go. obviously the negative to this is that I'm forced to do other things if i want to grind a particular thing, but it's not that bad. and, of course, there's an instant-win button; but it doesn't become an idle game. to use the instant-kill button your magic stat needs to be higher than the HP of the enemy, and you need a higher agility, and you need to spend a proportionate amount of MP, unless you use the sword method, which requires significantly higher agility. no disgaea 6 auto battle here.
i particularly like how the battle system encourages you to use every part of it. in battle, you have three main relevant options, and three other options that aren't used as much. the main three are physical skills, magic slabs, and special attacks. physical skills deal a bit of damage, but cost no MP. magical skills do a lot of damage but you need MP to cast them. special attacks are unique and usually unlock after a number of turns. what's really interesting, though, is how it all meshes together - when you cast a spell, a portion of the damage you deal is stored in your staff, which gets released when you do a physical attack, so dealing the most damage most often involves casting the spell that deals the most damage, then using a physical attack on the next turn, and repeating back and forth. every four turns you get a guaranteed critical hit, which deals about 30% extra damage, getting better over time. this crit can't be banked, though, so you need to figure out what ability is best used to make the most of it.
the other options in combat are summoning pets, which give pretty substantial damage bonuses on their turns, using items, which are generally best used as a panic button or as a free turn every few turns (an extremely useful ability unlocked relatively early), and defend, which restores a percentage of HP and MP at the start of your next turn. early on i made heavy use of defend and had my pet kill things, which was really slow, but now I'm at the point where i can start really pumping magic, making most of my turns casting fireballs.
the story is decent enough. you play as the witch pieberry, who lives alone in a forest protected by a giant golem. pieberry wants to explore the human world for a taste of the pie from her dreams, which leads her on a grand adventure far from home, to which she can return at any point.
↑ pieberry. importantly, her snaggletooth is actually modeled in-game, and isn't relegated to just her artwork like a certain other magically inclined crafter character (RYZA). all witches are marked with dark(er) skin, white hair, and long floppy ears. her favorite things are pies and strawberries, the things which she named herself after.
for some lore: witches are the children of humans and demons (who are the former gods who had their powers stolen by humans), with extreme magical prowess that seems to dull with age. they're not immortal, there is a very plot relevant witch who's old and dying. pieberry suffered the fate that many other witches did: she was abandoned in the woods as a baby, in the hopes that she would be killed by nature so her parent wouldn't have to kill her themselves.
pieberry is obviously not at perfect peace with her lot in life, but she's still living her way. and who could blame her, she's like ten.
anyways rant over. play witchspring r it's out on steam right now

Hello lovely! I hope you're doing alright and that you're having a great time! Speaking of writing I would love to get mor e insight into your idea brainstorming and outlining process if you don't mind. 💗💗💐✨
Hello, sweetie, and it's no trouble at all! Hope you're doing alright aswell! ^^💙
Disclaimer: In no way am I professional writer or author, and this is simply just my way on how I concept and write ideas and stories
It isn't that hard for me to have an idea suddenly pop into my head. I'll use this IF as an example.
1. The inspiration
Vampire in The Garden is my first inspiration for this, really. I watched it once and thought: "What if I write a tragic, sapphic, vampire story with a mix of Romeo and Juliet?". Obviously, I can't imitate it nor copy the story directly, so I look for other inspiration.
Well, not really look, because I remembered the term: "cottagecore sapphics" while going through Twitter and found art of two women being loving and domestic in the countryside. So, that's where I went for vibes. The married part comes next, because come on wives. Just wives all around.
Next would be aesthetics. I personally love the vintage aesthetic of the 50's, so I went with there, plus I always wanted to write a sapphic story set in the 50's.
Location is easy, since I already have an existing country, so I don't really need to make a place from the ground up.
~•~•~
2. Characters
Okay, so I got the idea down, so who's going to be in it?
At this point neither the Bledsoes or the Welhavens existed, so I had to make them from the ground up. Adele's first, because she's the vampire wife that Welhaven has to romance, so I designed her based on my ideal woman, vibes of the clothes I wanted her to dress in, and some characters from existing media. Same goes with the rest of the cast, minus the ideal woman part. It's a bit of trial and error on their character design, because I want it to fit their personality.
Fun fact: Adam and Azalea were the hardest to design—both went thru 3-4 different iterations before I settled on the one I like.
Names were easier, but required a bit more research, so a good chunk of designing are finding names for the cast and opening a bunch of tabs on baby name websites. At this point, I'm sure Google's wondering if I'm a teen parent with how much baby name sites I've opened.
~•~•~
3. Plot
Idea? Check. Characters? Check. Plot? Uh…
So, anyway, I start plotting.
Nothing extreme, really, since the inspiration already provided parts of it, which is the wives dying and me wanting domestic wives time.
So I start with the wives, just married and running away from everything because of their forbidden love. But why are they running away? Oh, I know, Adele's family doesn't like her marrying a human, because it's against their law. Now they're running away from the hunters that were sent after them and went into hiding. So, now, they live in a small cottage, trying to live out their peaceful days the best they can before everything comes crashing down.
Rest of the plot beats come after that, and I won't spoil them here.
I think up of needed variables, stats, and content warnings along the way in this step.
~•~•~
4. [Vampire] Lore
The most tedious task of all: making lore.
I want to make my vampires different from the mainstream vampires we all know, so I took inspiration again. The arms turning to bat wings is heavily inspired from Vampire in The Garden's vampires while the clans and society (for Bellhollow) are loosely based on English aristocracy and the French bergeouise with aesthetics and vibes being taken from the 1800's.
The rest are my own bits of pizazz like the drinking coconut water and vampires going mad if left alone for too long and always staying in pairs or groups. I want to make the vampires powerful, but not annoying OP—human, but also still monsters.
The lore about the [old] Bledsoes have to be written too, since the one in modern day is vastly different from the one in J&C.
~•~•~
5. Tumblr Blog & Intro Post
Time to gather the sapphics and lesbians.
I make the blog, and customize it a bit to fit the aesthetics and vibes, then I start writing the intro post with the headers I made on Canva.
Post. Reblog on other IF blog with a lot followers, and let Tumblr do its thing.
So yeah, this is basically how I concept stuff. Not that exciting and a bit quick, but that's just how I work when I create things. :p

Shortened Lifespan: Edelgard vs Lysithea
Now, technically, I’ve already made a post like this before, but I wanted it to be it’s own thing (brought about by a mutual tagging a post of mine and me wanting to go more into depth with it lol).
It’s been very widely accepted by the fandom that Edelgard and Lysithea both go through the expectation of living a shortened life due to the blood experiments done to them, with this partly being used as part of the defense/reasoning for Edelgard going to war instead of doing something more peaceful. She thinks she’s on a timer, like Lysithea, so she hard-starts change to work around her short-lived clock. Makes sense, on the surface.
But like I’ve mentioned on here before, I personally just can’t buy it. Nothing besides the immediate connection of “Edelgard and Lysithea both went through experimentation” suggests that Edelgard has the same shortened lifespan that Lysithea is suffering through.
More under the cut
One thing that immediately stands out, to me, are the differences between their stat spreads and growths (focusing on stats on this post).
Here are Edelgard’s (note: Statues not applied - add five to the stats if you want the true max values):
They are extremely good, especially for a default armor unit. Str and especially Mag are very high, average Dex and Spd (though notably good for an armor unit), good Def, amazing Charm. Her Luck and Res are the only things that are even kinda bad - it’d more accurate to say they’re below average, tho again, 47 Res on an armor unit is fairly high. In fact, of the units that lean towards armor, Edelgard has the highest Res, and even beats out some units that aren’t armor-leaning such as Claude and Felix. Even her seemingly low HP (for an armor) is mitigated by the fact that it’s still some of the highest for a female unit overall (the fifth highest, beat out by Petra, Rhea, Manuela, and Hilda)
What are Lysithea’s, in contrast? (blacked out everyone above her for easier reading):
...Uh. Yeah. In contrast to Edelgard’s far more even spread, Lysithea’s are skewed to fuck. The best Mag in the game and the second highest Dex (losing only to Claude’s 89), and some nice Spd, sure, but everything else takes an extremely large hit. 48 HP is the lowest in the game, pitiful Str and Def, and mediocre Luck, Res, and Charm. This girl is held together by toothpicks, Elmer’s glue, and God’s mercy.
So right off the bat, there’s a huge difference between the two of them in this regard, but I decided to go even further; just how off are Lysithea’s stats, actually? Some things make sense, like low Str and Def, so how different is she compared to others in her class type (magic users).
The magic users of the following factions have the Str stat underlined. First, BE:
BL:
GD:
CoS:
From what we can see, 30 Str isn’t actually out of the norm for a female magic user. The outliers are Rhea and Manuela with their Str in the low 50′s being not just the highest of the women, but of all the main magic users period, though part of that could be contributed to their age (vs Hanneman who is both older - in terms of physical age at least - and who does not focus on physical strength like someone like Gilbert) (Rhea being an older Nabatean could also attribute to this - notice Seteth’s stat spread which also has notably high Mag for a Wyvern Rider unit and Flayn’s, who is younger and who also had only recently woken from a centuries long sleep that she fell into after nearly dying, more odd spread). Following them for the women is Annette, who as we know lugs around a giant axe (Crusher’s weight is 11, making it heavier than most swords and bows and a good few lances - fun fact, it’s heavier than Areadbhar!) which likely lends to her having above average Str for her gender and unit type combination
Now, here’s the fun part: let’s look at the same unit’s Res stats
BE:
BL:
GD:
CoS:
Here’s where an interesting pattern shows up that’s fairly consistent: if a magic unit has bad Str, they have good/great Res to compensate, and vice versa. Annette’s above average Str (remember, for what she is) coincides with her bad Res, same as Manuela’s, and all the magic units with their ass Str have at least a respectable Res to go along with it. The only ones who break this rule are Rhea, due to her Str and Mag being fairly even with a lean towards magic (and also not being playable lol)... and Lysithea. Who has both a shit Str and shit Res stat. Even amongst her magical peers, Lysithea still stands out as particularly fragile and physically weak.
HOWEVER
Do note, for all of the above in terms of going over stats, that they aren’t necessarily the best indicator of anything in particular when it comes to a character; there is no version of me in the multiverse that will ever believe Manuela is stronger than Rhea or that Lorenz has the same amount of stamina as Dimitri, for example. But it is something to note when looking at Edelgard and Lysithea, due to them going through the same experiments and yet one is very clearly doing better in terms of damn near everything and the other very clearly lagging behind in damn near everything
Moving on, we have their Banes and Boons. Edelgard’s Boons are Axes, Swords, Heavy Armor, and Authority, with Banes in Faith and Bows. Of note, Edelgard will say in a Study Request that she believes it is her specifically having two Crests that allows her to be able to shrug on armor like it’s nothing, and her defaulting to an armor class with an axe as her default weapon makes her the literal heaviest she could theoretically be. On top of that, her Banes point to nothing about her physical health hindering her ability to do physically laborious feats.
Lysithea, on the other hand, has Boons in Faith, Reason, and Authority, with Banes in Swords, Lances, Axes, Heavy Armor, as well as Clearing Rubble as a Group Task activity. She has a budding talent in Swords - the lightest of the weapons she’s bad at and some of the lightest weapons in the game - that gives her access to a Combat Art that lets her use something other than Str to give Mt to her sword-based attack. Lysithea, in terms of Banes and Boons when compared to Edelgard (or anyone, really), is very clearly unable to do physically demanding things very well - it’s something she’s actively bad at doing and is a consistent fact about her that crops up in not just her stats and Banes and Boons, but also her supports. Edelgard’s situation is the same.
Edelgard has her supports with Ferdinand, as well as Ferdinand’s supports with Byleth, that showcase her being exceptionally good at combat in terms of physical fighting (as in, no magic, and having a talent in doing feats that would require a good amount of stamina). She beats Ferdinand in combat with one strike, and she is able to take on a Demonic Beast by herself while still fresh in the academy. There are no mentions of her being winded or tired from fighting, and she is more than once praised for her battle prowess.
Lysithea, meanwhile, has at least three supports (Byleth, Lorenz, Cyril) that indicate less than stellar stamina, health, and strength (she straight up faints in Byleth’s supports). While characters looking out for her health can maybe be somewhat attributed to her being one of the youngest students in the cast, the difference between and, say, Cyril, who’s even younger than her, is that she genuinely shows signs of ill health when she pushes herself too far, vs Cyril who is fine even with how much he works. When talking about her prowess in battle it is only ever in regards to her magical capabilities, not anything else, and she is seen constantly working on those capabilities.
And then lastly, there are their endings.
Edelgard has no endings that mention needing to be rid of her Crests - save one, which will be looked at in a bit. In particular, she has an ending with Hubert that indicates she lives on to her “later years,” which is usually attributed to a fairly old age. It is not, in this case, referring to Edelgard’s specific later years (for example, a person who lives to 30 can say their mid-twenties was the later years of their life), because it specifically says that she and Hubert live to their later years, which more likely points towards a longer life.
Lysithea in contrast has multiple endings that either has her and/or her lover actively looking for means to get rid of Lysithea’s Crests, or explicitly say that she dies young. There’s... not much more to add to that lmao
But! There is one ending with Edelgard that mentions her getting rid of her Crests, and it even says they restore her lost time! That’s proof positive, isn’t it?
Well, funnily enough, this is her ending with Lysithea that mentions this, and it... appears to be straight up incorrectly translated. As has been pointed out by others, the JPN ending doesn’t specifically mention restoring their lifespans, it simply says Edelgard and Lysithea “discovered a way to exchange the crest’s power for the restoration of a lost lifespan.” While, if we look at the surface level “Edelgard and Lysithea both had Crests implanted into them” similarity, it makes sense to attribute this restoration to the both of them, looking at everything else leans towards this statement mostly being for Lysithea. Which, given that this is the only ending - or really, the only place period - Edelgard has that even mentions her wanting to be rid of her Crest, let alone actively working towards it, it makes sense that this isn’t for her.
Now, all of the above isn’t directly pointing towards anything - it’s a lot of speculation, since nothing about Edelgard herself having a short life is ever explicitly said in the game. But when looking at all of the differences between Lysithea and Edelgard, when looking at how badly Lysithea stacks against everyone else vs how amazing Edelgard stacks, at how often dying young is mentioned with Lysithea vs Edelgard, at how much Lysithea focuses on her lifespan vs Edelgard, I personally just can’t believe that they’re similarly afflicted with a shortened life.
There’s almost nothing in the game to suggest that other than the one thing they have in common, which is the experiments themselves - if they do, then Edelgard simply doesn’t care as much about it as Lysithea, and/or it isn’t nearly to the extent of Lysithea, to the point where she feels no need to mention it anywhere. And this is the same character that brings up her ten dead siblings in the first support with the player character, so something as big as “oh yeah and I’m going to die relatively soon and young” feels like something she would similarly mention as something one should know about her, which she doesn’t. This seems, to me, to be just a popular fan theory that isn’t really all that supported in the game itself.
#Lysithea#Lysithea (fire emblem)#Edelgard#Edelgard (Fire Emblem)#exqueuese me princess#can this be considered meta?#to be 100% clear: this is my opinion based on what's in the game#all good if you don't agree!

Fic writer review [Or a fic writer tag game if you prefer]
I was tagged by @naralanis and I can already see her grin all the way from where I am xd Thank you, dear, for the tag, let’s see what are my answers, shall we.
1. How many works do you have on AO3?
*bursts out laughing* Adding both pseuds I have… 535 according to the account info but by counting them all I’m reaching 541 so I’m guessing it’s counting some drafts I need to re-find.
2. What’s your total AO3 word count?
I seriously hated you for this one xd I was going to do it by hand by I decided one-third there that I value my mental stability a little bit more xd according to the stats page back at a03 that number would be 1257884. It may be wrong. I think there should be a few more numbers up there but the majority of my works are one-shots so *shrugs* There’s also the fact that counting my ao3 things only is shaving off like half of it Xd Anyway, can we laugh at the fact that I’m a pain in the ass and that I’ve written a lot? More than I should have, that’s for sure
3. How many fandoms have you written for?
Trick question because I haven’t crossposted everything I wrote back in ffnet and I actually erased some fics from my account back there so the numbers are a little blurry there.
When I had the entirety of my work posted both in ffnet and a03 I had written for: Twilight (Bella/Alice) Glee (Faberry and there were a couple Pezberry and I don’t fucking remember the pairing name for Santana and Quinn), Harry Potter (Hermione/Ginny, Hermione/Narcissa, Hermione/Bellatrix) OUAT (SwanQueen and several oneshots focusing on the mad hatter and the blue fairy solely back at ffnet that were written in Spanish and never translated), I actually had a veeeery old au prompt of Frozen (Elsanna in where I wrote them as non sibilings), Rizzoli and Isles (Rizzles), Dishonored 2 (Emily Kaldwin/Alexi Mayhew), Lara Croft and Wonder Woman, Supergirl (SuperCorp/Supercat) I had a 100 one -or maybe two??- (Clexa), The Shannara Chronicles (Amberle/Eretreia [Or Princess Rover], Rwby [Blake Belladona/Yang], The Worst Witch (Hecate Hardbroom and Pippa Pentangle), The Half of it, Chilling Adventures of Sabrina (Madam Satan/Zelda Spellman) and… I think that’s it(?) I may be forgetting some but probably nothing important if I’m not remembering it lol.
4. Top 5 fics by kudos?
Ah, we are going to go there, uh? Xd My works are not the kudos and comment getting type Xd So I was quite surprised when I went to check this.
1: Cracked it I wrote this one back in 2017, it was a prompt done by an anon: Lena is nerding with one of her projects at home, mumbling mostly to herself because she’s stuck and Kara casually mentions how to solve the problem like it’s nothing. I really had some fun with this. It was back when some us, SQeeners were fully doing the jump between OUAT and SuperGirl (I mean, there had already been some crossover as for fandom is related but this when the girls were actually getting their conjoined voice within the fandom)
2: Dateless I honestly needed to check what this one was about but I think I can see why this one shot has the amount of kudos it has. It’s a short and sweet idea and responds to the Teachers Au that went SO well with SQ. Everyone thinks they hate each other and try to set them up with other people whilst they, in truth, are dating. I don’t remember if I wrote them as married rather than dating but despite being from 2017 as well is one cheeky enough to be cool Xd I probably would edit some lines now *shudders*
3: After you I truly didn’t expect this one to be top 3. Makes me think of a lot of things, if I’m being honest Xd. After you was a one shot written almost feverishly as an answer to the fabulous drawings that Sejic did of both Lara Croft and Wonder Woman back at 2018 or something. It’s just Lara and Diana being himbos but not at all with each other.
4: How about… How about is one I remember perfectly, it was my answer to the ending of the Half of it film. I had SOME thoughts about it, let’s just stop there Xd I really liked the film itself but I think and I thought at the time that my response to wishing for a final scene at the very end of the credits responds to me being in a different personal moment than the characters. I really wanted to explore my feelings about it and so I wrote about them finding each other again after some time passes. It was also something I wrote after quite the hiatus so I took it as something I could write about without focusing too much on the why.
5: Come to me
Ahh, SuperCorp Xd I remember this one actually. A friend of mine and I were talking about descriptions, and she mentioned quite off-handedly how she wanted a fic in where Kara’s back was described. I complied… more or less.
Fun tidbit, despite the big volume of my work is obviously set in ouat there’s only 1 SQ fic there as you can see, the others are either SuperCorp or the random one shots I created for Wonderwoman/Lara Croft and The half of it. *sighs in deep thought* I’m also not going to look too much into how almost all of the fics were posted and written back in 2017. Nope, not at all.
*Small voice screaming you peaked in 2017 and everything else is garbage jumps back and forth*
5. Do you respond to comments? Why/why not?
I tend to always respond, yup. I truly value comments. I might have gone for spells of time in where I didn’t have the mental capacity to check in old fics because I truly didn’t know what to answer but I treasure every single comment and you all who comment know that I can start to ramble in the answers xd -sorry about that- I really really REALLY love interaction.
6. A fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending:
Ok, Nara, come on, this one is a catch for me. I’ve written angst in far too many fics to remember the angstiest one :P I have the most recent one, though, that is the easy one to think about: Goodbye.Written for @delirious-comfort. I’m just going to say “Kisses with their last dying breath” as an idea of what awaits inside but I’ve written about death and loss and angst quite a lot. There were some I wrote back to SQ with Regina needing to kill Emma during the Dark Swan arc that, to this day, I still love and some others in where Regina is the one that dies, again and again, trapped by magic while Emma watches. I have the loss in mental destruction form and… I REALLY like my angst y’know xd
7. Do you write crossovers?
Not counting Lara and Wonder Woman not really! I think it comes from the fact that I loooove worldbuilding as a whole and some pairings would require all my focus into making the world perfect which in turn would make me self conscious on the OOCness of it all.
8. Ever received hate on a fic?
*snorts* I’ve received hate due to the pairing I’ve written about, how I’ve written about it, the amount I’ve written, how slow or quick I can be, the usage of some tropes, the lack of usage of those same tropes… Let’s just go with: yuuuup.
9. Do you write smut?
I’ve written smut, yeah! But I can already see the pointed looks of some so let’s elaborate Xd I write smut when asked and sometimes when not asked but there’s a part of me I like to call a terrible tease that prefers writing the beginning of a scene, taunt it, focus on what happens before the sex scene per se as I find it more enjoyable to write. The process of escalation is always the best for me to see what can I do it by using both dialogue and descriptors tbh, so I tend to tease more than show.
9. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
A few weeks ago I’d have said: Maybe(?) But trying to follow the trail of some other fics that had been stolen from some friends -I think it was me trying to find more about the page that stole something from your Nara!- I found some pages in where my fics had been reposted. In some it was stated that the person posting the fic wasn’t the author but I had never been contacted in order to see if I’d say yes to such a thing and in some others the page was locked up but I could still see someone was pretending to be the author. I did the thing and got some of those down.
Pointed note: Ask me if you want to post or translate or anything. I will look into you and answer you if you seem honest about the thing. But despite every joke and self-deprecating comment those 500 and then some fics represent MY time so very kindly I say fuck off to those who wish to steal from me and if I catch you… you don’t really want to see me angry, trust me.
10. Ever had a fic translated?
I’ve given permission to some, yeah, but never heard it back from them so I’m guessing it didn’t stick.
12. Have you ever co-written a fic?
I’ve written series alongside other authors as @stregaomega for example. And some others that are unpublished -looking at you @carsonnieve - I’ve also done collabs… but fics co-written in the sense of two authors same chapters I don’t have anything posted I’m afraid :P
13. All-time favourite ship?
*snorts*, I guess the obvious answer is SQ uh? And I do think they were the ones that allowed me to read and write SO much. The one I feel more strongly about, however, is Bering and Wells from Warehouse 13.
14. WIP you want to finish, but don’t think you ever will?
All of them counts as a valid answer? But if I only could finish one that would be Arcadia. With A forgotten Promise second and the one I did as an Assassins Creed AU third. (I don’t remember the name so there’s no link, sorry xd)
15. Writing strengths?
Uhhhh, you REALLY want me to say that? I don’t fucking know!! To me everything I write is garbage. I always try to go for the feelings so I guess. Dunno xd I’ve been told I’m good at worldbuilding and to be honest is what I enjoy the most.
16. Writing weaknesses?
Everything Xd Pacing? What I hate the most sometimes is dialogue, I would count it as a weakness but I’m always far too focused on description rather than dialogue. I don’t think it’s a bad thing per se but it’s something that I don’t do as much.
17. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in a fic?
I’m conflicted. Always. Majorly because I think that having bilingual characters in fanfiction is portrayed and expected in a way that I don’t feel it’s honest with how bilingual people -us- talk. So if I go by what I know I do I think it’s not what readers hope to see when it comes to that and if I go for how canonically is hoped to be found I don’t think it’s logical. But that’s me and my overthinking Xd If I have the option I like to do it.
18. First fandom you ever wrote for?
Belice! Or Bella/Alice. Worst first fic ever but oh, well, I’m always saying that :P
19. What’s your fav fic you’ve written so far?
Uhh… Don’t make me do this XD Agh, I don’t know. I’ve always been very vocal about Metallic Ink because I let myself enjoy the process of creating a magic system almost out of zero and that was fun. Despite hating some of the writing process and that I’d do it differently now I think I’m going to stick with that answer. Or anything that had any steampunk-based undertone. To be honest I like more thinking of concepts, I had one in where Emma was a thief and it involved the robbery of a ring that was Regina’s one way ticket to freedom I then later repurposed that I adored thinking about so let’s go with…. Yeah, I love having the option of changing things up a little and focus on how characters would fit in different aesthetics for this one Xd
Annnd… these are four pages, gods. I’m just going to tag @waknatious @carsonnieve @stregaomega here and see what they do- Enjoy the questionnaire ladies :P

Beat Binding Blade tonight
So, right off the bat I'm going to admit. I abused the arena and save states. This is a really, really hard game. And while I enjoyed it, I'm going to give three things I didn't like about it.
1)Enemy reinforcements arrive at the end of the player phase, and can attack during the enemy phase. That is unfair, especially when I assume that parking a unit on the spawn point will prevent them (It doesn't) or my healer just happens to be in the area. I like difficult games, but when I fail at something in those I want to feel like it's my fault for doing so. When I die in Bloodborne or lose a unit in Fates Conquest, I'm willing to accept it because I felt it was fair (plus I'll just restart the chapter in Conquest anyway). I could have not died if I had played a little better. This game was not fair when it did that.
2)The supports. A lot of the stuff about the characters is locked away in their supports, since this is one of the old Fire Emblems where it throws units your way because it's assuming you didn't reset the game when one died. They don't get cutscenes to be important, and with only five supports per character (barring if one dies, then any unit that had supports with gets those supports back). And even then, getting an A rank doesn't pair up any units except for Roy. So you don't get to play love doctor here, it's only really there for the stat boosts. But in the case of my boy, he needs those supports in order for his character to fully come through.
3)I can take 8 units into the final battle, and they're the only ones who get full ending cards. Everyone else just gets a single line. Kinda weak if I use someone like Fir for most of the game, but bench her at the end to give Rutget Durandal.
Even with my cheating, I still enjoyed this game. Mostly for the story. When Fire Emblem first appeared in Smash Brothers Melee, as a kid it instantly caught my attention. Roy and Marth just looked so cool with their swords and armor (true fact: My favorite design for Link is the Skyward Sword design, simply because it has chainmail under the tunic. I get it, the tunic is iconic but SS's Link just looks practical), and I preferred Roy because I though his fully-charged shield breaker hurting him was cool. I even keep a Cipher card of his in my wallet for good luck. I wanted to know what Fire Emblem was, what kind of game it was. My friend showed me a screenshot of the upcoming GBA game in Nintendo power, which I got for the following Christmas (sadly, I didn't get Sacred Stones as I got a PS2 the following year). I loved that game, but the idea that I was playing as Roy's father always was a bit of a sour point for me. It's because of that game when I got a 2DS a decade later, because I wanted to game but kept getting pulled away from my console, I eventually went back to Fire Emblem.
And, I'm going to admit, Binding Blade hurt me because I played Blazing Blade first. It really did. I mean, Hector dies early on, Lyn is presumably dead hell a lot of my old comrades probably died in this war, Eliwood's wife dies shortly after they are married while Eliwood is more useless than ever, the kid I saved in Bern becomes a genocidal maniac, and the fact that the characters of Blazing Blade kinda caused this to happen by releasing the seals on the Legendary Weapons in their own quest... It kinda bugs me that the Legendary Weapons I used in Blazing Blade are in their trap filled storage places. Like, who returned them there? And if I have characters from that game returning in Binding, I find it strange they don't comment on needing them again. But this is a case of the game trying to be a prequel to a story that wasn't written with it in mind.
But at the end of the day, one thing just kept popping up in my mind. Binding Blade is the antithesis of the Crimson Flower route from Three Houses. I know they said Genealogy of the Holy War was an inspiration, but I can't help it. I've seen so many people try to praise that said route as some sort of denouncement of the rest of the franchise. That it's about putting power in the hands of the people (it's not) instead of having some Lord be the good king. Granted, the Mandate of Heaven seems like it's a running theme of the series, so without understanding what that is I can understand why people don't grasp what that part of the message. But Binding Blade, it just hit so many things on the nose that I needed to say something.
So without further adieu, I'm just going to bring up a few points.
With Regards to Humanity
It's interesting how both Zephiel and Edelgard come at this from different angles. Sure, they both lead wars of conquest across the entire continent, and I'm guessing Zeph didn't tell his troops what he was planning on doing once he won so there's likely a level of deception going on there as well. He really doesn't care for his fellow man, and the game goes out of it's way to show us why. Hatred, greed, or even selling out your people in the name of self-preservation. The game doesn't shy away from showing us any of this, saying that it's wrong and thus why Roy has to kick some guy's arse. Zephiel knows this, but in Edelgard's case? She's out there fighting for absolute power, destroying anyone who won't bend the knee to her while those who do out of self-preservation like House Gloucester are rewarded for it.
In essence, Edelgard is everything Zephiel saw wrong with the human race, she is why he felt we needed to go extinct. The very things he condemns humanity for are the things she reward. Zephiel would have actually handed over power to those he felt deserved it if he had won, whereas Edelgard is demonstrably shown to hold onto power until near the end of her life. One wants humanity dead, the other wants all the dragons. They even oppose each other in their classes. Edelgard is based on the red emperor archetype, she wears red, her class is the heavily-armored Emperor and her weapon of choice is an axe. Zephiel is a king, armoed but wearing purple and he uses a sword in battle.
Even if they both have screwed up history with their family's due to their father's inability to keep it in his pants, they're both presented as villains despite being ideologically opposed which goes to show with Fire Emblem the method IS the message.
Ancient Wars, Super Powered Weapons and Lies.
War of Heroes vs. The Scouring. The former is an event where the full details are shrouded in mystery, up to the player to piece together the clues and figure out the truth for themselves...or in Crimson Flower's case, ignore the truth and act out in your ignorance. With Binding Blade though, when the truth starts coming out, it hits hard. I mean, right from the beginning of the game we're told man was the one who broke the peace by attacking the dragons, but then we learn that those legendary weapons messed up the environment, resulting in dragons needing to use human forms only to be slaughtered by man. Dragons were blamed for the environment, the people who used those weapons were revered as heroes. We don't know why mankind launched their attack, but we do know that they weren't able to slay the Demon Dragon, one who had her soul destroyed in order to control her, because the Heroes felt sorry for her. It's making dragons out to be the victims here, much like the dragons in Three Houses. But Crimson Flower only serves to demonize them, acting like they can't understand humanity when the dragons in that game are a lot closer to humans emotionally than the ancient dragons in Elibe.
The Elites in comparison weren't heroes, and that lie has been confirmed as Rhea trying to make peace.
The good ending for Binding Blade is being able to save the dragon whose soul was destroyed, whereas Crimson Flower ends with slaying a dragon after you've spent the entire game triggering her (and is the ending that leads to oppressive rule under Edelgard, in addition to the only ending without sunlight. What? You thought you'd get the good ending when her final boss theme was playing on the last stage?). Also, you need all the Legendary weapons in order to unlock the final stages, which all play into the big mystery. Crimson Flower requires the player to not understand that the world-building was done to support fighting against Edelgard instead.
Merits of a leader
Let's not beat around the bush here, Roy will not carry you through Binding Blade. His bases are low, and while he has good growths he is unable to promote until the very end of the game. Even then, you need to save the Binding Blade's usage to ensure you get the good ending. Roy is also very unsure of himself, thrust into a position of leadership despite his young age. But look at what happens when he succeeds, he manages to overcome the odds and take down the mightiest army on the continent. At the end of the game, he's shown himself as more than capable of leading. Not to mention, he also believes that humans and dragons can live together, even seeing this in Acadia (and if Ninian was his mother, he's unknowingly proof of this as he is 1/4 dragon himself. May explain his poor bases). If he marries Liliana, he even becomes a King for likely much of the same reason Byleth does in SS/VW (most leaders are dead following the war, plus combining his territory with Ostia which had already taken over Lyn's land after she abdicated/married Hector). Roy learns the truth as already established.
Compare this to Crimson Flower Byleth. Byleth leads the Black Eagle Strike Force, but credit for it goes to Edelgard. Byleth never gets any recognition for this, no position of authority despite proving themselves, instead that goes to Caspar Jenkins of all people, and ends the war continuing to fight TWSITD from the shadows to support Edelgard's regime. And if you read between the lines, Edelgard is NOT a good leader, resorting to bribes, threats, cronyism, secret police, propaganda, and even TWSITD's support and later stolen tech in order to maintain her rule. Byleth lost whatever emotional development they got from White Clouds during this route, once again becoming the Ashen Demon, and is even willing to let themselves die if they can't keep their “humanity” in check showing a distaste for their own draconic heritage (showing humans and dragons can't live together in this timeline). They didn't grow into being a leader, they devolved into being Edelgard's unthinking muscle. Byleth never learns the truth in this route, falling for Edelgard's manipulations resulting in them losing Enlightened One/Nirvana status.
Not to mention, Heroes Relics have really low weapon levels. In theory, they can be used by anyone but only safely by those with Crests and most fully with a matching Crest. Legendary Weapons, on the other hand, can be used by anyone with an S rank in their type. Your characters have to EARN the right to use those things and you'll need them to deal with all the Manaketes during the final level, whereas Relics aren't exactly that level of broken.
Honestly, seeing the ending of Binding Blade and Idunn recovering put at least one tear in my eye. Crimson Flower's just made me feel like the game was calling me an idiot (which considering the Nirvana/Enlightenment thing, it kinda was). I would love if Binding Blade got the Echoes treatment, or even if they just did a GBA collection for the Switch. But after all these years, one thing is as certain now as it was when I was a kid.
In this house, ROY'S OUR BOY!

5e Nibbs, the Dragon Warrior of Coba build (Awesomenauts)
(Artwork from the Microsoft Score.)
youtube
Happy Halloween! Dragons are scary, right? I mean who else would I make for Fizban’s Treasury of Dragons than an actual dragon? I had always planned on making Nibbs when Fizban’s came out because one of the subclasses in that book works very well for her. (And if you consider that the other subclass is a summoner which Nibbs most certainly isn’t it’s fairly obvious which subclass I’m using.)
Unfortunately those plans got delayed by the Fizban’s delay, and got further hampered by some of the player options in Fizban’s being... a little less than ideal. Well we can still make due. After all: “She's fighting for sweets / It's all that she needs / To make killing sprees!”
GOALS
Can you smell burning? That's you! - What’s a dragon without fire? Or other types of elemental breath.
Ha! Cut to ribbons! - What’s a dragon without sharp claws and teeth?
Tag, you're it! - What’s a dragon without... Teleportation? Well it’s still useful regardless.
RACE
If you want to be a purple dragon look no further than the new Gem Dragonborn, more specifically the Amethyst Dragonborn which are indeed purple, and also get a Force damage breath as well as Force damage resistance. However the thing is that Nibbs doesn’t really have a Psionic Mind for telepathy, nor does she have Gem Flight. So...
We go for the alternative when playing a small dragon: Kobold! Which sadly wasn’t remade in Fizban’s... *Sigh* Well we’ll make due with the Volo’s stats for now. Your Dexterity increases by 2 and... that’s it. Yeah this is why I was hoping Fizban’s would give us better Kobolds. Anyways you have Darkvision (which I only mention because Kobolds don’t have much else), and can spend your action to Grovel, Cower, and Beg to give your fellow sisters advantage against enemies within 10 feet of you.
Of course the big boon for Kobolds is their Pack Tactics, giving you use some actual teamwork in a MOBA to get advantage if an enemy is within 5 feet of an ally when you attack them. This however comes with the massive disadvantage of Sunlight Sensitivity for disadvantage on Perception checks and attack rolls if an enemy is in direct sunlight.
In short: if you want more starting stats, an innate breath weapon, innate resistance to one of the least-resisted and granted least-common damage types, telepathy, and flight then I would highly suggest playing a Gem Dragonborn instead. But if you want to be small and have advantage with your allies then Kobold is good too! For the sake of this post I made Nibbs a Kobold but if I was playing her personally I’d probably make her a Dragonborn, honestly. It’s just that Flight really doesn’t fit her.
ABILITY SCORES
15; DEXTERITY - Nibbs is classified as an assassin. Yes the cute little dragon is an assassin. This is why I love Awesomenauts.
14; CHARISMA - Nibbs is cute(?) and this is a requirement for the funny multiclass.
13; WISDOM - Nibbs may be a little ditzy but the Sisterhood of Coba has secret plans that are beyond normal comprehension. Which is to say Wisdom too is a requirement for our class.
12; CONSTITUTION - Nibbs may be squishy in ‘nauts but Power Pills Turbo go a long way to keeping you healthy and happy.
10; STRENGTH - Nibbs is a dragon and despite everything, which means she can put a bit of force behind her strikes
8; INTELLIGENCE - Nibbs is an attack animal more on the side of animal than anything. Hard to read a book when you keep setting it on fire.
If you made Nibbs a Dragonborn instead of a Kobold put your +1 into Wisdom and ignore the half feat we’ll take later in this build.
BACKGROUND
There’s no good background for “inter-dimensional space dragon”, but chances are the Sisterhood of Coba have already made a presence in your world, meaning that you can serve as their Faction Agent! You get proficiency in Insight as well as Persuasion (don’t pretend that you aren’t good at it) and two languages which Nibbs will definitely remember as Nibbs speak about Nibbs in third person.
Your background feature Safe Haven will give you and your allies a place to buy items and heal up under the watchful Eye of Omicron, as long as your friends don’t have a problem with your sisters wanting to take over the world or whatever.
See, I love making Awesomenauts builds because I get to quote lore that literally none of my regular League of Legends-based fans will understand. 🤪
(Artwork by Maskedhusky on FurAffinity oh god I got artwork from FurAffinity.)
THE BUILD
LEVEL 1 - MONK 1
Starting off as a Monk for proficiency in Acrobatics, Stealth (bush camping is a viable strategy), and a musical instrument (or Artisan’s Tool) of your choice: Nibbs theme includes Drums, Flute, a Horn and all that good 80s opening musical instruments you know and love, so pick your fancy because it really doesn’t matter.
The reason we went with Monk is because it’s the fastest way to get into a Dragon Frenzy thanks to Martial Arts! You can use Dexterity instead of Strength to make unarmed strikes, your unarmed attack now uses a d4, and most importantly you can use your Bonus Action to make an extra attack! Get to max frenzy to lay down the smack! Raaawr!
Additionally armor would hamper your cuteness, so Unarmored Defense will serve to let you add both Wisdom and Dexterity to your natural AC.
LEVEL 2 - MONK 2
Second level Monks get Ki to use on some more draconic abilities! To get your Frenzy on use Flurry of Blows to make two attacks instead of one with your Bonus Action! If you need to run Step of the Wind will allow you to Dash or Disengage as a Bonus Action. And if you want to stay and fight Patient Defense will let you up your dodging game!
Additionally your Unarmored Movement increases by 10 which means exactly what it sounds like: your movement speed is increased by 10 feet! Fun!
LEVEL 3 - MONK 3
one of the subclasses in (Fizban’s) works very well for (Nibbs.) (And if you consider that the other subclass is a summoner which Nibbs most certainly isn’t it’s fairly obvious which subclass I’m using.)
So Nibbs is part of the Way of the Ascendant Dragon, of course. For a start this makes you a Draconic Disciple for a variety of benefits:
If you fail an Intimidation Persuasion check, you can use your reaction to invoke your Draconic Presence and reroll the check. Once you use this to give yourself a success, you can’t use it again until you finish a long rest.
You can turn any of your unarmed strikes into a Draconic Strike that deals acid, cold, fire, lightning, or poison damage.
And finally Tongue of Dragons would’ve given you the Draconic language, but you already have it. So grab another language instead and enjoy the fact that Nibbs now knows 5 different languages!
But of course the most important ability is Breath of the Dragon, letting you use your Fire Breath! Or Ice Breath! Or even Lightning Breath! When you take the Attack action on your turn, you can replace one of the attacks with your burning breath! You can breath either a 20-foot cone or a 30-foot line that is 5 feet wide, and it can deal either acid, cold, fire, lightning, or poison damage.
Each creature that you hit must make a Dexterity saving throw or take damage equal to two rolls of your Martial Arts die (the same damage as your unarmed strikes), or half as much damage on a successful save. You can breathe fire (or whatever other element you choose) for free a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, and must spend 2 Ki points after the fact when you run out. You regain all your free uses of this ability after a Long Rest.
Lotta text huhn? Well any Monk also gets Deflect Missiles at this level, letting you use your reaction to reduce the damage of an incoming ranged weapon attack by a d10 plus your Dexterity modifier and your Monk level. If you reduce the damage to 0 you can even catch the shot, and throw it back with a Ki point if you want! "Oooh, what does this button do?"
LEVEL 4 - MONK 4
4th level Monks get the first of many Ability Score Improvements, and as a Kobold Monk there’s very little reason not to take Squat Nimbleness. This will give you +1 to your Dexterity, +5 movement speed, proficiency with the Athletics skill, and advantage to break free from grapples!
If you went with a Dragonborn simply increase your Dexterity and Wisdom by 1 at this level, and we’ll address the uneven Wisdom when we get there.
Additionally you get Slow Fall, because Awesomenauts is set in space with low gravity after all! (Or it might be because you have wings.) If you were going to take fall damage you can use your reaction to reduce it by 5 times your Monk level.
And because Tasha didn’t think Monks got enough abilities you get Quickened Healing, letting you use 2 Ki points to regenerate health equal to a roll of your Martial Arts die plus your proficiency bonus. It’s not exactly efficient but it works, and since Ki comes back after a Short Rest you can spend any of your spare Ki points to kill minions for health.
LEVEL 5 - MONK 5
5th level Monks get Extra Attack for even more Frenzy, which is great because your Martial Arts die increases to a d6 for deadlier claws and hotter breath!
You also get Stunning Strike for a Beryl Scale Cloak to hold a foe in place for your Fire Breath! And finally in case your attacks aren’t hitting Tasha offers you Focused Aim, letting you use between 1 to 3 Ki points to... focus your aim and increase your hit chance by 2 per Ki point spent.
(Artwork made for Ronimo Games. Pay no attention to the fact that this particular skin gives Nibbs armor.)
LEVEL 6 - WARLOCK 1
This is the gag that doesn’t end
It keeps going on and on my friend
The people ask for different classes and I never stop using Warlock because...
Okay at least I have a good reason for Warlock levels on Nibbs. Sorta. Warlocks get to choose their subclass at level 1 and there’s two Patrons who work good for the Sisterhood of Coba. The Fiend Patron keeps their soldiers safe thanks to Dark One’s Own Luck, giving you Temporary Hitpoints whenever you down a foe for a bit more sustain. Alternatively the Genie Patron gives you more damage on your strikes (fire damage if you go for the Efreeti Genie Kind), as well as a place to stay in your Genie’s Vessel! I personally went for the Genie patron because extra damage felt in-flavor for Nibbs, and carrying your house in your pocket felt in-flavor for Awesomenauts!
Of course Warlocks get access to Spellcasting: for your cantrips take Prestidigitation for all sorts of general magic dragon stuff, and depending on your DM you can use Magic Stone with a Sling for a reliable ranged damage option that uses your Dexterity. If they won’t let you use your Dexterity on a Sling with Magic Stone however then something like Chill Touch works fine.
As for leveled spells take Charm Person, which is always useful to get more treats. If you want more Fire Breath however look no further than Burning Hands!
LEVEL 7 - WARLOCK 2
Second level Warlocks get their Eldritch Invocations: start by taking Devil’s Sight. I know it’s more useful if you don’t already have Darkvision (such as by being a Dragonborn) but even as a Kobold augmenting your Darkvision to 120 feet that works in magical darkness is very useful! Other than that I took Fiendish Vigor to give yourself some Temporary Hitpoints if you have a moment to breathe and regenerate health
You can also learn another spell but I’m going to wait a bit for...
LEVEL 8 - WARLOCK 3
Third level Warlocks get to choose their Pact Boon and I’m going to be honest: we don’t really need any of them? Your claws and fire breath already do more than enough damage so whatever you pick for your Pact Boon is going to be more for utility. So take Pact of the Tome for some utility cantrips, Pact of the Chain for a mini Nibbs, or heck even Pact of the Talisman to give yourself or an ally a bit of skill check safety.
I’m going to be real though the main reason we went to third level of Warlock is for second level spells like Misty Step, which will serve as an Orb Of Omicron you can cast up to two times per day for a quick way out of a fight, or a quick way in! Other than that while it may not fit Nibbs well Mirror Image is simply too good for a Monk in particular not to take. It greatly increases your survivability as a Monk and keys directly off your Dexterity which makes it all the better.
(Artwork by u/Keirii55 on Reddit.)
LEVEL 9 - MONK 6
Back over to Monk finally to get our double jump! When you use Step of the Wind you can activate Wings Unfurled to give yourself a Fly speed! It’s only for that turn, but if you’re Dashing as a Monk this can give you a huge amount of distance.
You can only use this a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, after which this ability is gone until your next Long Rest. That’s a pretty big nerf from its UA version (which is why I personally suggest some homebrew changes) but in combination with Misty Step you can use these abilities to get wherever you need to go with little trouble. Especially since your Unarmored Movement is now 15 feet, which combines with the 5 feet from Squat Nimbleness to allow you to move 50 feet per turn!
LEVEL 10 - MONK 7
The cool thing about being in a platform fighter is that you can dodge just about any attack. Evasion makes it so that if you succeed on a Dexterity saving throw you’ll take no damage, instead of the half damage you would’ve taken. But what if you fail your save? Well then you take half damage instead of full!
Additionally you get Stillness of Mind, letting you end an effect of being Charmed or Frightened on yourself as an action. No being charmed by treats, and no being afraid when there’s treats to be had!
LEVEL 11 - MONK 8
Remember when I said telepathy doesn’t make sense for Nibbs? Well we still need a way to team chat. So take the Telepathic feat to be able to team chat with allies within 60 feet (although they still have to answer you out loud), and you can grab the Detect Thoughts spell which you can cast using your Wisdom. You can cast it once for free without using a spell slot, and can use your Warlock slots to cast it again later. Oh and this feat increases your Wisdom by 1.
If you went for Dragonborn instead then Resilient Wisdom can serve you well. Unless you think you’re going to be going to total level 17 in which case you can take Skill Expert instead I guess.
(Artwork by Caitlin Tettelaar. Made for Ronimo Games.)
LEVEL 12 - MONK 9
9th level Monks get an Unarmored Movement Improvement to run along walls and across liquids! Between walking on walls, flying, and teleporting there’s little that can separate you and your lunch!
LEVEL 13 - MONK 10
10th level Monks have Purity of Body, making them immune to disease and poison so you can bug Gnaw as much as you want. Additionally your Unarmored Movement is now 20 feet which adds up to 55 feet total.
LEVEL 14 - MONK 11
11th level Ascendant Dragon Monks can invoke the Aspect of the Wyrm. As a bonus action you create a 10 foot aura around you for 1 minute. For the duration you can give yourself and your allies in the aura Resistance to either acid, cold, fire, lightning, or poison damage. I mean you could also use your Frightful Presence to force enemies to make a Wisdom save or be frightened, but by total level 14 most things are going to resist fears so I’d just stick to the resistances.
Your Martial Arts die also increases to a d8, which is good because Breath of the Dragon now deals 3 Martial Arts die worth of damage! "Great balls of fire!"
LEVEL 15 - MONK 12
Hey look at that more Ability Score Improvements. Your Wisdom is a bit lacking so it would be a good idea to increase it by 2 for better AC and stronger dragon breath!
LEVEL 16 - MONK 13
Remember how you have 5 languages for no good reason? Well Tongue of the Sun and Moon makes it so everyone understands you anyways, and you can understand everything that other people are saying.
(Artwork by Na1t on DeviantArt.)
LEVEL 17 - MONK 14
14th level Monks get Diamond Soul for proficiency in all saving throws. Yup that’s it. That’s a +6 in all your saves! Oh and your Unarmored Movement increases to 25, adding up to 60 feet total thanks to Squat Nimbleness!
LEVEL 18 - MONK 15
15th level Monks make sure the 80s never die. Timeless Body makes it so you don’t suffer from the effects of being old, and can’t be aged magically. Additionally you don’t need food or water.
I mean, you still die of natural causes due to age. Because lol Monk.
LEVEL 19 - MONK 16
One last Ability Score Improvement, and now it’s up to you to make a choice: if you want the deadliest claws possible increase your Dexterity score. If you want your breath (and Stunning Strike) to be more passable however more Wisdom will do well!
LEVEL 20 - MONK 17
As a level 17 Ascendant Dragon Monk you are now an Ascendant Aspect! You can Augment Breath for 1 extra Ki point (on top of the 2 Ki to use Breath of the Dragon in general) to make it either a 60 foot cone or 90 foot line (still only 5 feet wide though.) Don’t worry though: making it bigger also makes it do 4 rolls of your Martial Arts die in damage, instead of just three!
Additionally when you activate Aspect of the Wyrm you can invoke Explosive Fury! Choose any number of creatures you can see in your aura: they each must succeed on a Dexterity saving throw or take 3d10 damage in any of the elemental varieties of your choice.
You also get a 10 foot Blindsight, I guess. Would probably be more useful if you couldn’t already see through Magical Darkness. But to top if off your Martial Arts die is now a d10, for top tier claws and extra spicy breath!
FINAL BUILD
PROS
I am fire! I am Nibbs! - AoE damage is one area where Monks normally suffer... good thing Ascendant Dragon exists to change that! You can burn down whole crowds with a good use of your many breath attacks.
Boop! - You don’t have many Warlock levels but teleportation is never not useful, and Mirror Image combines with your other abilities to greatly increase your overall survivability. The only thing harder than killing a Monk with Evasion is killing a Monk with Mirror Image!
Does Nibbs gets a treat now? - Pocket advantage does help quite a bit to make you good at Persuasion (or Deception.) You won’t be the main face of the party anytime soon but between Draconic Presence and Charm Person you can participate in chats a lot more than the average Monk.
CONS
Greedy Nibbs - This build is very resource-intensive, and while thankfully both your Ki points and your spell slots come back after a Short Rest you’ll run low fast if you nova frequently.
You taste like chicken! - You know perhaps the Mobile feat would’ve been more useful than Squad Nimbleness. Monks aren’t the most durable and you aren’t either, and you don’t have many ways to get out of danger which don’t involve lowering your damage output (no Bonus Action attacks) and wasting your limited resources.
Uh-oh; this no good for Nibbs - Neither your Dexterity nor your Wisdom are maxed out (or alternatively your DEX is maxed and your WIS is lacking), and while this is mostly because of my choice to invest in two feats the multiclassing doesn’t help either. Honestly if you have the chance do try to either roll for stats or use Point Buy to set both Wisdom and Dexterity high: beyond a 13 in Charisma (and I guess a midway decent Constitution score) this build doesn’t really need much else, so feel free to dump all your other stats in favor of maximum Monk potential.
But Nibbs job is to jump in and breathe fire! Leave long fights for sisters and leave jobs Nibbs can’t do for teammates. Nibbs is cute and dangerous and perfect for taking care of armies of any size! As long as Nibbs get treat afterwards Nibbs do good... No Gnaw’s tail isn’t a treat!

Connor Murphy x Reader: Dear Other Hansen: Part 1
words: 1,643
warnings: fight, slight harassment by a pervy football player
It was the first day of your senior year and your mom was giving the same speech to you and Evan that she gave every year. Growing up twins you shared everything: your anxiety, your interest in nature, your love-hate relationship with Jared, and your clear disdain for this speech. 'This year would be different, it's a new start- a clean slate. She's so proud of you already.'
"Oh and Evan, (Y/N)? I made you an appointment with for today, I'll come buy and pick you guys up after school. Make sure you guys have letters to yourself, the doctor expects you to have some."
"We have an appointment for next week though, mom?" Evan questioned, worried that he overestimated the amount of time he could put off writing his letter.
"I thought you could use something a little sooner. I love you guys! Have a good first day, and remember if you guys need anything at all, call me. Bye," with that she was out the door.
Evan looked to you, and then down at his hands. "(Y/N), I still haven't written anything..."
"I know," you sighed, running your hands through your hair, "I haven't either. We were supposed to have another week." Procrastination. That was another trait you shared. You were well aware that it would only make the task at hand more daunting, but sometimes it was just more convenient to watch TV than do work.
"And we still have to take the bus. It's our senior year, and we're the only seniors who still have to ride the bus. Everyone is going to think we're losers."
"...What if we just walk?" You suggested, to which Evan responded to by nodding vigorously. You grabbed your stuff and the two of you began walking.
It was warm outside, but cloudy. Evan and you were talking about the normal stuff. He was talking about working at the park, and you were talking about hanging out with Zoe- another thing you had in common- who you had befriended one day at the mall at the beginning of the summer. You had been at American Eagle, trying to find the perfect outfit to boost your confidence. Zoe had seen you, said hi, and proceeded to help choose the cutest outfit you had ever seen. Ever since then, Zoe and you were good friends. Evan always loved hearing you talk about her, because he felt like he knew her better when you did.
Finally, you arrived at school. Evan walked over to talk with Alana and then Jared, trying aimlessly to get them to sign his cast. Zoe had came over to you as soon as she saw you arrive to school, upset about the morning she had "-and then he finished the milk! Dry cereal was not how I wanted to start my first day back."
"Maybe he's just on his man period?" You didn't want to admit it, but Connor always intrigued you. He never looked like he was the same guy who Zoe complained about, or the rumors that spread across the school. He just looked out-of-place, which is how you felt most of the time. He didn’t look like he could be that much of a dick. Back in grade school, you had been in bed with the flu when Connor presumably threw a printer. After hearing little Evan cry for three hours after school about it- not because he was scared or even angry- because the teacher was printing out a coloring page for him, and he never got it.
"Then he would have been menstruating since he was twelve-" Zoe was interrupted by hearing Connor yelling. She turned the corner to see him screaming at Evan and Jared scurrying off. "Oh no."
"Why are you laughing? Stop fucking laughing! I'm not the freak! You're the fucking freak!" Connor pushed Evan down and ran off sulking.
Zoe and you rushed over to Evan to make sure he was okay. You'd talked to her enough about Evan for her to know that he wasn't going to take this well. You were freaking out, both worried about Evan and horrified that he had already been pushed on the first day. The bell rung and Zoe went her separate way, while Evan rambled on, "-and then she introduced herself to me! Did you see that? It was so magical. Well, it would have been if I hadn't screwed it up."
"You'll be okay Evan. She's a sweet girl, she's not going to judge you. Especially since Connor was involved. What class do you have?"
"Stats, what about you?"
"English, see you at lunch or something?" You hugged Evan as tight as you could headed to class.
---
When you arrived to class, you took a seat in the back corner, relieved that you were in your favorite teacher’s class this year. Mr. Sinclair was half way done with the syllabus when Connor Murphy walked in. He walked to the back of the class room, but there were only two seats left. One by the captain of the football team, Derek, and the other next to you. He choose to sit next to you.
Not long after Mr. Sinclair was done with the syllabus, he announced that there would be a group project. “Your partners will be your table buddies. You will choose a book, and make a project on it. I emailed the requirements, but keep in mind that the books need to be appropriate. Derek you can join whatever group you.” Mr. Sinclair then let everyone start working on the project. You were sitting with your hands cupped on the desk, staring down at them. You didn't know what to do. Sure, you'd seen Connor around at the Murphy's house, but he never really said anything more than the greetings his mom forced him to say. Other than that, all you knew about him were the rumors, what Zoe said about him, and that he'd hurt Evan earlier that day.
"(Y/N), right?" A voice snapped you out of your thoughts. You nodded, recognizing it as Connor's voice. "You're related to the kid with the cast and the polo?"
"-Evan, he's my twin." You didn't know why he was asking this. You’d been in the same grade level and classes as Connor since kindergarten, and even if you never personally spoke to Connor, you were sure he already knew these things.
"So you're going to go ask if we can just separate projects," You couldn't tell if this was a question or a command. "I mean, you're brother thinks I'm a freak, so why would you want to do a project with me."
"Evan does not think that, I promise."
Connor's voice got louder, "Yeah? Then why was he fucking laughing at me with Kleinman earlier?"
Your heart began race, and you began stuttering. Your face must have shown traces of anxiety because Connor's angry gaze softened slightly. He reached his hand toward your hand, but he was blocked by a figure.
“What do you think you’re doing, Murphy?”
“Go away Derek.” The same amount Connor’s eye softened at the sight of your anxiety, they hardened when he saw Derek.
“Were you going to hurt her?”
“Go. Away. Derek.”
“No can do. I’ve decided to be (Y/N)’s partner.” Derek slung his arm around your shoulders as you stiffened.
Connor was visibly getting more annoyed by the minute, “That would mean that your my partner too, go find a different set of partners.”
“Babycakes wants me here.” A smirk spread across his face. You were growing more uncomfortable, and were silenced by shock and disgust. “No, she doesn’t. Neither do I, so don’t make me-”
“Make you do what? I’ve already decided. (Y/N), call me when you want to meet up for the project, sweetie.” Your face grew ten shades of red as you involuntarily grabbed onto Connor’s arm and scooted closer to him. Connor took one look at your shaky, nervous frame and lunged into action.
Connor drove his fist into Derek’s face, and Derek did the same. It was a blur as you gaped at the two men fighting, feeling a panic attack coming on, and before you knew it they were being pulled apart by Mr. Sinclair and two other teachers who had been called in. The teachers escorted Connor and Derek to the office. Mr. Sinclair pulled you outside the classroom and sat with you until your panic died down, “Are you okay, Ms. Hansen?” You nodded. “Did Mr. Murphy hurt you?”
It took a moment to process what he said. “Connor didn’t do anything, Mr. Sinclair. Derek was making some,” you sighed, “comments about me that made me feel creeped out. I think Connor saw I was uncomfortable and tried to defend me.”
Mr. Sinclair pinched the bridge of his nose. “Ms. Hansen, if what your saying is true, we need to get you down to the office so they don’t blame this on Connor.” Mr. Sinclair took you to the office just as the principal was getting ready to suspend Connor and release Derek. Mr. Sinclair reiterated what you had told him, and you confirmed it. Derek protested, trying to say that you were making it up.
“Very well,” the principal raised his hand to stop Derek, “Ms. Hansen has never given me any reason to not believe her. That, and last year three students came forward about you, Derek. I’m afraid I have no choice but to suspend you for a week and put you on probation from football until further notice. Connor, I’m going to let you off with a warning, and send you home for the rest of the day. Tomorrow, I will trust that you will not do this again, or you will be suspended.” Connor shook his head, and left without another word.

tf boys + dnd headcanons (bc i clearly have nothing better to do)
pairings: benny miller / reader (romantic) but platonic w the rest of the tf boys
word count: i’m typing this in the post itself good luck fuckers
summary: i got nothing y’all. just know that benny & will have a little extra info idk why
a/n: i’m semi-new to dnd but i’m armed w the player’s handbook and google so i will do my best
benny: i think dnd was a guilty pleasure for him during high school. yeah he was seen as a Hot Popular Guy™️ and played football and baseball, but there is and always has been a nerd living in that heart of gold. had one (1) set of dice he used for every campaign and even kept them with him when deployed. he joined a campaign for the first time in years after coming back from The Mission That Shall Not Be Named™️. creating new characters & a homebrew or two became a way for him to cope with everything that happened there and heal.
details abt (one of) benny’s character(s):
half-orc barbarian-bard multiclass, affectionately known as a bardbarian
college of lore + berserker pathways
himbo af and benny laughs a lot when he gets to act out said himboness
character has a tendency to start bar fights if his talent is questioned, and usually it’s beating them with his fists and/or lute. there’s an npc that owns an instrument shop the half-orc frequents that gives him a glare every time but will always repair or replace said lute
uses vicious mockery against the BBG (big bad guy) every time they face a new one and the guys have never laughed so hard at benny’s random insults
focuses more on utility spells bc it’s just that easy for him to beat the hell out of someone with fists and weapons. becomes a jack of all trades kind of guy (similar to irl) and enjoys the “oh shit he can do that?” questions when he pulls off an intricate
when you offhandedly mention dnd night with your friends while planning for a date, benny’s eyes go wide. “you play dnd?! why didn’t you tell me earlier, lovebug? i love dnd!” precious baby boy will gush abt his first campaign back in high school and find his first set of dice to show you. he’s excited bc dnd is now another thing you can do together as a couple. will ask if you two can make characters with interlocking backstories 🥺
will: he didn’t play in high school but knew some guys in basic training that played who explained the basics to him and his first thought was “oh benny would love this” bc he knows his brother that well benny never had the heart to tell will that he had been playing dnd for years before will told him abt it so will takes credit for introducing benny to dnd. didn’t join a campaign but a character was built & he was gifted a set of dice from that group’s dm in case he ever wanted to start. ends up taking this character with him when he joins one of your campaigns and enjoys it a lot more than he thought he would
details abt will’s character:
goliath male, abt 7’8” and 300ish lbs bc he a big chonk
ranger-fighter multiclass — “warrior who used martial prowess and nature magic to combat threats on the edge of civilization” & “master of martial combat, skilled with a variety of weapons and armor” (pg. 45, dnd player’s handbook)
you can’t tell me that william miller wouldn’t enjoy the FUCK out of this combo without your pants catching fire
favored terrain: mountain, forest at level 6, and arctic at level 10
fighting style: two-weapon fighting
archetype: beast master. prefers a wolf, hawk, or mule companion but isn’t too picky
less of an emphasis on strength (goliath characters already get +1 to strength & rangers need more dexterity and wisdom anyways); instead, put his higher stat rolls into dex, wisdom, and constitution
you mention dnd early in getting to know will partly to just make conversation (and to snuff out whether he was the kind of guy to look down on the game as a whole). he tells you abt benny and a few of his army friends that played, and that he didn’t consider himself a player bc he hadn’t used his character yet. you called bullshit and, after getting him to play once, discovered that will would make a fabulous dm. his memory? impeccable. session plans? infallible, no matter what the party can improvise. is somehow always able to steer the party in the direction he needs them to go without being forceful. no one has ever heard a “you can certainly try” sound so encouraging yet foreboding at the same time.
frankie: poor man is absolutely clueless. he joins in on the dnd fun bc he saw how excited benny was and figured that it would be better than sitting at home by himself watching western reruns. ends up being inspired by said westerns (namely “the rifleman”) when creating his character and is crossing his fingers the entire time hoping that no one calls him on the similarities. despite the emphasis placed on charisma, he’s drawn to the paladin class bc of their self-chosen holy quest and the desire to vanquish evil (trauma 🥺). is learning how spells work as he goes and is frequently apologizing for holding up the session bc of this.
details abt frankie’s character:
half-elf paladin male
neutral good alignment
worships helm, god of protection (forgotten realms)
strength & charisma highest stats
protection fighting style
takes the oath of vengeance — “a solemn commitment to punish those who have committed a grevious sin” (phb, pg. 87). the character’s own purity is inferior to serving the justice they believe is required. to me, this just SCREAMS frankie
with the guidance of helm, his character became the sole caretaker to a child whose village was slaughtered by his character’s sworn enemy. strives to defeat said sworn enemy both in the name of his adopted son’s lost family & simply bc helm was like “dude you gotta stop this guy” shortly before frankie’s character found the child
has a bunch of healing & defense spells instead of combat spells bc why would he need combat spells if he can just fuck someone up with a weapon of choice?
santiago: like frankie, santi was absolutely clueless. but unlike frankie, he did a fuck ton of research during the days leading to the first night of the campaign. he he showed up after actually having done research with a well-rounded character with fitting stats and an intriguing backstory. does what a lot of men can’t and won’t by giving the party a female that is a genuine badass and respected for her badassery instead of being talked down to simply bc she’s a female. enjoys putting feline tendencies into his rp and the guys make cat jokes a lot.
details abt santiago’s character:
female tabaxi monk, way of the open hand
chaotic neutral alignment
was raised in the monastery and became a teacher in the ways for a short time. left the monastery after her curiosity revealed corruption within the ranks & was only allowed to leave freely under the condition of not telling anyone what she found
she was called back to teach when a sickness took down a lot of the elders and despite the reluctance, when she learned her mentor was sick, she went back. taught until his death and is in search of a medicine to save the monastery
her curiosity is fueled by her passion to learn everything she can. sometimes this gets her into some shenanigans but nothing too bad

hi hello could i maybe get "I don’t wanna die this way" for lone star? please hurt me however u choose
Hello^^ you certainly can 😌🌸
Don’t want to (die) | Marjan Marwani
Canon; A call goes awry and no one was expecting this outcome
Prompt: “I don’t wanna die this way”
Word count: 1515
CW: mentions of dying and medical emergencies
Send me prompts from the Penelope Scott lyrics list
***
It’s not a call that Michelle was ever expecting to get, or maybe it was something she just prayed would never happen. No amount of manifesting would prevent this, though, and Owen’s frantic tone over the radio had her heart dropping.
“Ladder 126, EMS needed immediately at our position,” Michelle wasn’t prepared for the words that followed, “Code 26.”
Injured firefighter, EMS required.
That had Nancy rushing for their bags from the rig, throwing them on the gurney as quickly as she could. Michelle was already running ahead, calling back for Tim to stay there and look after their patients, her own bag bouncing against her thigh with every movement. She cursed under her breath as she stumbled, worry for her crew clouding her awareness. Code 26, not an uncommon code in this line of work but certainly not one she had heard for a while. The last time she did must have been when TK was shot, which had been a whole other kind of chaos.
“Who?” she didn’t have any time for panic as she tried to depersonalize from it all, a hand falling on Judd’s shoulder to get his attention. The man looked at her through his visor, worry etched into his face as he pointed to where most of the crew was crowding around. This was just supposed to be a normal fire response, a small apartment complex with a fire on the third floor, and she was sure everyone had evacuated on time. She was only gone from the main scene for ten minutes, helping parents find their children and checking people for smoke inhalation and minor burns. They hadn’t had a firefighter injury in a while, this was such a minor scene she wasn’t sure how it had even happened. Judd seemed to be questioning the same thing but she didn’t have the time to consider how much his memories were haunting him at that moment.
“Marjan…”
Nancy had caught up with her by then and she nudged her Captain forward, though when their eyes met Michelle could tell she was just as worried. She could feel the pit of anxiety gnawing away at her stomach, her friend’s life at risk here. Still, they had to be smart about this, Marjan needed them and they would have to wait to feel later.
“Captain,” Michelle bounded over to the others, “What happened?”
Owen turned to look at her, standing up properly from his previously crouched position. Mateo was on the ground, looking like anxiety incarnate, and beside him was Marjan. Laying on the sooty asphalt with her turnout coat nowhere to be found and she looked worse for wear. Instead, her long sleeve was exposed and Michelle could see blood seeping from somewhere and covering the white fabric in a nauseating amount. She was on the ground with them in seconds, leaning over Marjan before Owen had even managed to speak.
“The ceiling,” it was TK who spoke instead, “She went back to get a kid… the building was unstable.”
“Someone decided it was a brilliant idea to take off her coat and cover the kid with it,” Judd interjected, “The smoke was disorienting and we couldn’t get to her in time. The lobby ceiling fell.”
Michelle was nodding but all of her attention was on Marjan, shining her penlight in her eyes and sighing when her pupils reacted properly. The woman in question was watching her weakly, her breathing unsteady but she was still alert enough to know what was going on. There didn’t seem to be any head or facial trauma, which was a relief, but her main worry was her abdomen.
“BP is high and she’s tachy,” Nancy told her as she leaned over with a stethoscope to confirm, speaking gently to Marjan before she did anything. Michelle was glad Nancy was there, her caring nature always helping to soothe their patients.
“Marjan, let me know if this hurts, okay?” She didn’t lift her shirt for the sake of her privacy and instead palpated the injured area over the soaked fabric. The gentle pressure had her crying out almost immediately, arms jerking up to cover her stomach. It was very un-Marjan like in nature, since she was always fearless and hated to seem weak. Michelle apologized gently but her concern was only rising with that reaction.
“Abdominal guarding and tenderness,” she turned to TK, “What fell on her?”
“A chair from the upper hallway along with a large chunk of the ceiling.”
“Damn,” she looked to Nancy again, “Notify the nearest hospital that we have an incoming patient with blunt force abdominal trauma. Looks like a couple broken lower ribs and I’m worried about her spleen.”
“Alright.”
“Request a female trauma surgeon if possible,” she added before looking back down at Marjan, “You with me, Mar?”
Never one to appear weak even on death’s door, Marjan nodded as much as she could, “Mhm.”
“Anything else hurt right now?”
“How a-about eve-everything…” she let out a shaky laugh, which only made her wince as it jostled her ribcage. That only solidified Michelle’s assumption about fractured ribs, which usually caused a rupture of the spleen in cases like this. She hadn’t seen anything pressing during her secondary assessment but she was worried about other internal injuries or shock setting in too fast.
“We’re going to get you on the backboard then, okay?” she motioned for Mateo to stand and grabbed the board from on top of the gurney, passing it over to Paul so he could slide it under her from his side. She crouched by her shoulder, catching her attention again.
“We’re going to roll you onto your side, you know the drill.”
The transfer was painful for everyone, with Marjan unable to hide her agony at being moved in such a way. They hated seeing her like this, knowing they were only causing her more pain, but it was necessary. She cried out as they slid the board under her body, allowing Michelle a second to check for any injuries on her back. Getting her up onto the gurney was less of an event, though her stats had dropped enough in the move for Nancy to get worried.
“Captain Blake,” she said, “BP dropped and O2 stats in the 80’s.”
“Okay, we need to get going, I’ll run oxygen in the bus.”
With that they transferred her across the parking lot, back to the safe area that had been designated for the civilians to gather. Tim was waiting among them, rushing over to ask what had happened. Michelle was preoccupied with talking to Owen, trying to tell him as simply as she could how her prognosis looked.
“She’ll need a CT to confirm but I think there’s a good chance her spleen ruptured,” she told him, “I know you needed to move her from the building but I do hope you all didn’t jostle her too much.”
“We were as careful as possible but I couldn’t risk anyone getting trapped,” he rubbed a hand over his face, “Take care of our girl, Michelle.”
“We’ve got her,” with that she hoisted herself into the back of the ambulance, beside Nancy who was already getting the oxygen mask situated for Marjan. Tim checked from the front to make sure they were ready and then started the rig, lights and sirens on the second they pulled out of the parking lot.
Michelle busied herself with starting an IV in her arm, knowing she would need fluids if they wanted to keep her stats relatively stable. Her oxygenation had improved but her blood pressure was still worrying, not to mention how thready her pulse seemed when Michelle pressed her fingers to her wrist momentarily. That was never a good sign, especially with the way her eyes unfocused and her response to stimuli had decreased.
“Marjan,” she leaned a bit closer to meet her glassy eyes, “You stay awake for me.”
“T-trying…” she murmured, “Hurts.”
“I know,” looking at her crewmate she asked for a dose of morphine that would hopefully help until they got her to the ER. Nancy administered the painkiller as quickly as she could, reminding Marjan that she was doing well and they would get her help.
When the other woman leaned towards the front to ask Tim about their ETA, Marjan reached out weakly. She caught Michelle’s hand, making the EMT look at her with concern.
“I-” she took a shaky breath and tried to blink away the tears that clouded her vision, “I don’t w-wanna… die this way.”
“Hey, don’t say that,” Michelle told her firmly, “We’ve got you. You never let anything stop you before, Marjan, you can get through this.”
“M… Michelle?”
“I’m right here, Mar.”
“I-” her sentence never finished as the firefighter’s eyes rolled back slowly, unable to properly hear Michelle’s words of panic as she noticed what was happening. Marjan tried to stay alert, she really did, but the pain was too much. She felt like she was suffocating, the heavy weight in her abdomen slowly radiating up her body. She could feel hands on her, knew Michelle was with her, but she couldn’t focus. The only thing she was aware of was the aggressive beeping of the monitor that preceded her descent into unconsciousness.

Fate and Phantasms #133: Scathach (Assassin)
Today on Fate and Phantasms, we’re once again make Cu Chulainn’s teacher and professional old ha- I mean badass, Scathach! This time she’s an assassin, turning heads at the beach before turning them just a little bit more to snap their neck.
Check out her build breakdown below the cut, or her character sheet over here!
Next up: If love’s a crime, she’s guilty! (She’s also guilty of arson, but she swears it’s unrelated.)
Race and Background
Like the other summer servants, we’re not changing your race and background that much. You’re still a Half Elf, giving you +1 to Dexterity and Intelligence, as well as +2 to Charisma. You also get Darkvision, Fey Ancestry that makes you harder to charm and impossible to put to sleep, and Skill Versatility in two skills- We’ll get more of your beachy stuff later, so for now grab Athletics and Religion.
Like last time you’re still a Sage, giving you proficiency with Arcana and History.
Ability Scores
Scathach’s one of those people who’s good at everything, so we’ve got to turn to point buy for this one. Set your Charisma to 14 to set off a beach panic when you show up. Your Dexterity and Intelligence are both 13- Surviving fights in a bikini requires the former, but you’re also good at carving runes too. Your Wisdom and Strength are 12: Strength is necessary for a spear, but you’ve got daggers to tide you over for a bit. That being said you’re still pretty smart, even though it’s summer vacation. Finally, your Constitution is 10. We just need everything, and something had to fall in last place.
Class Levels
1. Fighter 1: First level fighters get a fighting style, and Thrown Weapon Fighting makes using thrown (or kicked) weapons less painful for you, but more painful for everyone else. You also get a Second Wind once per short rest for a bit of healing.
Finally, you’re proficient in Strength and Constitution Saves, as well as Acrobatics and Intimidation. Your star pupil still has physical and mental scars from your teaching style.
2. Wizard 1: The fighter levels makes your weapons better, but you still need an AC that isn’t bad, and that’s what we’re here for. First level wizards get first level Spells that they can cast and prepare with their Intelligence, as well as an Arcane Recovery, letting you recharge spell slots on a short rest with a total level equal to half your wizard level rounded up.
For cantrips, you get Sword Burst to summon multiple Gae Bolgs, and True Strike to be slightly better with just one. You get more spells than this, but your important ones are Mage Armor, to make your AC less bad, and Charm Person for more beach panic.
3. Wizard 2: Your second level of wizard makes you a Bladesinger once more, giving you performance proficiency, as well as a Bladesong. A number of times equal to your proficiency bonus per long rest, you can start a bladesong that lasts a minute. While active, you can add your intelligence modifier to your AC and Concentration saves, get 10′ extra walking speed, and have advantage on dexterity checks. That means your AC, with bladesong and mage armor, is now 16. Not bad for a bikini.
4. Wizard 3: Third level wizards get second level spells. Enhance Ability will help make up for how MAD this build is, and Magic Weapon will make your Gae Bolg a little more special.
5. Fighter 2: Back in fighter now, this level gives you an Action Surge, letting you take a second action in a single turn once per short rest. Multitasking is useful.
6. Fighter 3: Third level fighters get a martial archetype, and the Rune Knight will give you plenty of rune magic that won’t bother with spell slots. You become a Rune Carver, letting you learn two runes at this level and apply them to weapons, armor, or other objects at the end of a long rest. These runes grant benefits to whoever wields them, and they last until your next long rest.
Right now you get the Stone rune, enhancing your darkvision and giving you advantage on insight checks. Also, once per short rest you can invoke the rune, forcing a wisdom save on a creature nearby. If they fail, they’re charmed for up to a minute, becoming incapacitated and having 0 movement. It’s not quite stunned, but you have effectively removed someone from the game until they succeed on their save.
You also get the Cloud rune, giving you advantage on Sleight of Hand and Deception checks, to make this assassin build more... assassiny. You can also invoke this rune once per short rest to redirect an attack within 30′ of you.
Finally, you gain Giant Might, spending a bonus action to transform yourself for a minute a number of times per long rest equal to your proficiency bonus. You become Large, have advantage on strength checks and saves, and deal an extra 1d6 damage once per turn.
7. Fighter 4: When you finally get your first Ability Score Improvement, spend it on some more Strength for better stabbing.
8. Fighter 5: Fifth level fighters get an Extra Attack each attack action, giving you plenty of opportunity to test out that new strength. They say experience is the best teach. Well, second best.
9. Rogue 1: Yes, yes, it’s another 3-class build. As a rogue you get Persuasion proficiency, as well as Thieves’ Cant, a language. You also get a Sneak Attack, extra damage you can add to an attack with a ranged or finesse weapon once per turn. Thrown weapons are ranged, but if your DM doesn’t subscribe to the Red Hare School of Archery you can always just use a dagger. Remember, you don’t have to use dexterity for the attack, just make it with a ranged or finesse weapon.
Finally, you get Expertise in Acrobatics and Persuasion, making you a true gem of the beach, and also making scorpion kicking spears into people slightly less of an unrealistic fighting style.
10. Rogue 2: Second level rogues get a Cunning Action, letting you dash, disengage, or hide as a bonus action. Between this and your action surge, you can get a lot done in a turn.
11. Rogue 3: At third level, you become a Swashbuckler. Your Fancy Footwork makes it so creatures you attack can’t make opportunity attacks against you for the rest of the turn. Also, your Rakish Audacity adds your charisma to your initiative, and you can make sneak attacks against creatures if no other creatures are within 5′ of you or it, and you are in melee range.
12. Rogue 4: Use this ASI to bump up your Intelligence for a stronger bladesong and spells.
13. Rogue 5: Fifth level rogues can use their reaction to make an Uncanny Dodge when attacked, halving the damage you take. If you’re the only one in a campaign wearing a bikini, you’ll probably need that.
14. Rogue 6: Use your second round of Expertise to enhance your Arcana and History. Even in the middle of summer you’re not a slacker.
15. Rogue 7: Once again Evasion rears its head, meaning your failed dex saves now deal as much damage as someone else’s successes, and your successes do no damage at all. Again- bikinis won’t stop a fireball, it’s better to just not get hit at all.
16. Rogue 8: Use this ASI for more Strength again, giving you a more powerful Gae Bolg.
17. Rogue 9: Your final level of rogue gives you Panache, an action to make a persuasion check against a creature’s insight. If you succeed, one of two things happen: hostile creatures have disadvantage on attacks against people other than you, lasting up to a minute, until another ally jumps into the fray against them, or you two are separated. Nonhostiles become charmed for a minute or until your team does anything harmful to it. Nothing quite like sowing a bit of beach chaos!
18. Fighter 6: Finishing things off in fighter gives you another ASI, which we’re putting into Constitution for some more HP and and stronger runes.
19. Fighter 7: Your penultimate level grants you a Runic Shield, using your reaction to force a re-roll on an attack. You can use this a number of times per long rest equal to your proficiency bonus. You also learn how to carve a Storm Rune, giving you advantage on Arcana checks, and you can’t be surprised. As a bonus action, you can invoke the rune to enter a propehetic state. While in that state you can use your reaction to grant advantage or disadvantage on attack rolls, saves, or checks. Like all the others, you can do this once per short rest.
20. Fighter 8: Your final level gives you another ASI, and another boost to your Constitution. Again, not the flashiest way to end a build, but it’s always useful.
Pros:
Your runes give you a leg up on your skill checks, and even more in character, you can give those runes to others, effectively becoming their teacher.
Your swashbuckler skills and Cloud rune combine to make you effective at shutting down enemies, letting you affect the flow of battle as you see fit.
Sneak attacks are good, especially when you have multiple attacks to fish for them with. You can deal a pretty good amount of damage each turn if you want to.
Cons:
Without your bladesinging or magic, your AC is pretty bad. Turns out bikinis aren’t always the most practical outfit for adventuring.
The most in-character weapon you’ve got is a spear, and that only just barely works within the rules. If you’re willing to swallow your pride and just use daggers this won’t be an issue, but if you were okay not playing Scathach in your DND game you wouldn’t have read all this crap, would you?
This build is SUPER MAD. If you really wanted this build to get off the ground at all, it’d be best to save it for an incredibly unlikely set of die rolled stats.

Part 3 of P5R review: Akechi
Next up, my favourite part: Akechi! Also mostly likely the last part since I don’t think I missed anything else. Feel free to hit me up though if you’re wondering about anything I haven’t mentioned
Akechi was undoubtedly, and still is, persona 5’s most hotly debated character. From what I’ve been seeing people who even loathed Akechi are starting to become fans of him, or at least don’t hate him anymore. Royal expands on his character in a way that fans of his love because it confirmed so many of their suspicions of what he’s really like but also just adds more depth to him. I could even understand why people who played vanilla only saw him as ‘boy takes things too far cos daddy issues’ cos, well, without deeper analysis that is what atlus was presenting. There was a lot more to his character in vanilla but I don’t blame people not looking into him because what they saw on the surface didn’t interest them enough... though that being said the abuse and torment given to his fans was super uncalled for.
Let’s start with his confidant and take it from there- it’s special, it’s fun, it’s emotional and it’s so layered I could watch it a million times and I’d probably still miss something from it. It’s special because it’s the only confidant where Ren just gets to hang out with someone, with nothing expected in return. All Akechi wants is a conversation and to play billiards with him. All of the other confidants want your help in something, want you to solve their issues without any regard for what they could do for you in return. Of course when Ren’s in jail they help him out then but it’s only when he’s facing the worst-case scenario. Interestingly enough, Akechi goes to jail for Ren at the first opportunity he gets and in that world none of your confidants ever return the favour of Ren changing their lives. To nail this point further, his confidant does have some requirements for social stats, but it’s the only instance where it’s made clear that it’s for Ren’s own comfort, not for someone else’s. Akechi says he needs someone charming and knowledgeable because he’s genuinely concerned for the abuse Ren might get if his fans didn’t consider him worthy of their idol’s presence.
It’s unexpectedly fun too, you’d think that an Akechi confidant would be just about rivalry or him talking to you about his Tragic Backstory but you get quite a few moments which are just… fun. The first one has them playing billiards and uncovering that he’s ambidextrous, and while it is a set up for their rivalry it’s still just them playing billiards like regular teenagers would. There’s the café date where silliness ensues and funnily enough you end up finding out more about Ren in that interaction than you do Akechi; about how Ren too hides from the public and has his own mask (glasses) that help him cover up who he really is.
But of course, it’s also emotional, like the bathhouse scene where you finally get to know more about Akechi’s past that’s not just a random info dump, there’s him clearly crying for help in the final billiards rank where he talks about the game as if it were his own life and even asks you if you’d help him (even though he doesn’t let you help regardless of what you say).
Term 3 Akechi… well he’s everything I hoped he would be. Sarcastic, sardonic and all around Done With This Shit. He never holds back anymore, both on the battlefield and real life and he doesn’t care what the Thieves or anyone else thinks of him anymore. He’s done with the detective mask and the charade and can finally be himself for once, and I absolutely love it. He’s gone from a character I can only theorise about being rude in my writing to one who’s everything I hoped for and so much more.
Now to the shuake stuff: Oh my god its so gay.
Yes a lot of it is regular friendship stuff but also if you can’t be friends with your boyfriend then that’s just casual sex, not a relationship. And I’m not talking about the bathhouse scene. Actually, what’s interesting is what happens after which is when Akechi specifically says that no ones ever seen that part of him, Ren’s the only person who he’s been able to open up to like that. There’s the jazz club, which you find out later is a special place for Akechi to the point that the owner says he’s never brought anyone else there. Ren is clearly special in Akechi’s eyes, he’s the one person he can be around and be his true self.
You even see it in term 3 when he’s sarcastic and sardonic around Ren but still continues to put up a façade around human Morgana, Futaba, Sojiro Wakaba and later Kasumi, at least until they see him for who he really is inside the palace and he’s forced to show his true self. The writers make that so obvious that Akechi’s face visibly changes when he’s talking to Ren and when he’s talking to everyone else.
And Akechi is equally special to Ren. Ren doesn’t wish for his criminal record to disappear or to be a Phantom Thief again, he wishes to keep the promise he made to Akechi even with the knowledge that the other was going to kill him. We’ve seen him mourn Akechi’s death in p5a proof of justice- the OVA that was so clearly meant to set up royal considering how many similarities it had with that more so than the original game. For a silent protagonist and a self-insert Ren shows more feelings towards Akechi than he does any other character.
Even down to their showtime, everyone else has these elaborate plans that they have to explain to each other then to Ren and hope that the wishing star will make their wish come true and yet Akechi and Ren are just able to improvise it completely on the spot, staying completely in sync. Interestingly enough if you compare it to Joker’s only other one- Sumire’s, she’s leading him into the showtime, she’s the one who has to have him follow her, but with Akechi, he’s equal, they’re in sync, all it takes is Ren shouting ‘Crow!’ for him to jump at the enemy without further instruction. Just as their showtime says, they’re two sides of the same coin.
There’s a reason that somehow, despite never having spoken about Akechi to him, Maruki knows that’s what Ren’s biggest wish would be, he knows that it’s the only way he might be able to stop Ren and the Thieves from infiltrating the palace, and in one alternative, the dream ending, it is enough for him to dangle Akechi’s life in front of him for Ren to fold. He insists Akechi’s life isn’t just something small that he can sacrifice once again.
Our Light is even further proof of it, it’s a love song, not to Kasumi, or not from her, it could clearly not be more obvious that’s it’s from Ren to Akechi. The song describes missing someone who’s gone in such a romantic way that seeing it as Sumire to Kasumi is borderline incestuous, and seeing it as Ren to Sumire or vice versa makes no sense either since they’re just a train ride away and even speak about seeing each other soon. It’s unlikely to be about anyone else either since yeah, Ren can just go and visit them any time and for that to be the ending song of a remake where the only character who’s made more important than he was previously is Akechi. It wouldn’t make sense for the song to be about that one girl out of 10 that you can romance but doesn’t really change the plot as significantly as he does.
In this way, P5R does a great job of showing, not telling. There are frequent comparisons of Maruki and Rumi’s situation to Ren’s and Akechi’s (not direct ones but it’s obvious the two are similar) and if they were a het couple that romance would be unquestionable. At the end of the day, persona is and always will be a game about choice where the protagonist is mostly a self-insert which is why they’ve never been able to outright say ‘this is the canon romance route’ but honestly, if it were to be anyone, it’s so painfully clear it’s Akechi.
Especially when you remember the director’s words of this being a love triangle. We know Sumire has a crush on Ren but doesn’t seem to have an interest in Akechi and outside of being a possible conversation partner, Akechi clearly isn’t interested in Sumire. So then if they’re a love triangle the only logical conclusion is that they’re both vying for Ren’s affection. From Ren’s perspective, the player can choose if he will romance Sumire but regardless of what Ren says to Sumire, he always ends up having Akechi’s life dangled before his eyes and can always choose to have him by his side.
TL;DR Goro Feral, Shuake Canon

RebelZ (Chapter 9)
Invader Zim fanfic
While analyzing Zim’s PAK for weaknesses, Tak discovers strange coding that sends her on a search for answers. The clues lead her to uncover a conspiracy that governs all of Irken society. When the truth sends her on the run, she has no choice but to return to the one place the Tallest would never willingly go: Urth.
Meanwhile, Dib has noticed odd changes in Zim’s behavior. Has the invader simply grown bored of his mission over the last few years, or is there something more interesting going on?

[-]
“Care to tell us what the fuck that was?” the Dib shouted as they ran down the hall.
“A coup, obviously,” Zim shot back. “Just not one where you seize power at the end. So, half a coup.”
“So then who seizes power now?”
“The Tallest Red and Purple still have it,”
Dib nearly tripped over his own feet in his shock. “You mean you didn’t kill them?”
“It’s nearly impossible to poison an Irken,” Tak explained. “The PAK filters out most toxins. You can incapacitate them, though, for a short period of time.”
“So you basically just quit your job in spectacular fashion,” Dib said indignantly.
Tak almost couldn’t believe it. Zim must be sincere in his betrayal. He poisoned the Tallest and declared to the entire upper crust of the Irken military that it was intentional. There was no coming back from that. Every other disaster he caused could reasonably be argued as a mistake. But there could be no doubt here. Zim truly had turned on the empire.
Yet, something still didn’t sit quite right with her. If he had gone rebel, if he had truly turned traitor, then his life clock would have gone off like hers did. One would reasonably assume the impotence for this betrayal was her discovery of the Control Brains parasite, but she was with him ever since she told him that news and she never saw his life clock go off. But that could only mean something else prompted him at an earlier date. So the question was, what made Zim finally snap?
They came to a split in the hallway. Tak started going right while Zim went left.
“Uh, the Voot is this way,” Tak called.
“I’m not going to the Voot,” Zim yelled back. “I’m going to the control room.”
Dib and Tak cast each other a glance, then followed him. They found him crouched behind a door at the end of the hall and joined him in his hiding spot. Dib took a peak inside. There, dozens of Irkens worked at their stations. They seemed unaware that, for now, their leaders were incapacitated.
Zim tapped his PAK and a metal ball flew into his hands. He pulled a pin, tossed it in, and smashed the control panel, shutting the door. They heard coughing from the other side and, after a few minutes, opened the door to find the Irkens unconscious on the floor.
“So, what are we doing in here again?” Dib asked, as they stepped into the room.
Zim grabbed one of the Irkens who still slouched in their chair and threw them to the floor. “Wiping Urth off the navigation map.” He sat down and the monitor and started messing with the buttons. “If I’m going to continue to use it as my home base, I can’t have them finding it.”
“Not so fast,” Tak slapped his fingers away from the buttons. “Before this goes any further, I need answers. If you’re truly on our side, there’s only one way your life clock didn’t go off.”
“We don’t have time for this!”
“You had a rebellious thought!” Tak declared. “When?”
“Three Urth years ago.”
“Three years?” Dib shouted, stepping up to them. “But I’ve been watching you. Why were you still trying to conquer Earth if you kinda-quit three years ago?”
“I wasn’t.”
“But I saw you building machines!” Dib argued.
“They weren’t for me!” Zim shot back.
Tak began to ask “But how-” before Zim cut her off.
“Silence!” he shouted. “Silence your questions! I need to concentrate.”
Zim continued typing on the buttons until a picture of the Earth appeared on the screen. The stats were scarce, save for the coordinates and the note, ‘that place where Zim is.’ The little blue ball of dirt and water had gone unnoticed by the empire, noteworthy only as a banishment site. To them, it was merely a place to keep Zim contained, far away from anything important. But after the stunt they pulled today, it would be a target.
Another few clicks of a button and the Urth was gone, leaving only a blank file in its wake. All Irken military ships automatically synced with the Massive. If it was gone from this data base, it was essentially invisible to all Irkens. If they wanted to find Urth again, they’d have to scour the universe for it. But why stop at Urth?
“Let’s dump it all,” Tak said.
“What?”
“Erase the database,” she said. “It’ll be a crippling blow to the empire.”
“Do we really have time to erase everything?” Dib asked. The human made a good point.
“Jut the maps then,” she suggested. “They would have to rebuild their navigation systems from scratch and it would send the fleet into disarray.”
“Zim is no radical!” Zim snapped. “I’m only doing this to cover my own ass.”
“Not a raical?” Dib scoffed. “You just poisoned your own leaders.”
“That was personal,” Zim argued. “This is political.”
“And what about those weapons you’re building?!” Dib shot back. “If they’re not for Irk, then who are they for?”
“Zim’s business deals are none of your… um… business!”
“Shut up!” Tak commanded, taking a seat at another monitor. “We don’t have time for this! Let’s get these maps erased and get out of here.”
“If you even make it that far,” a chorus of voices answered.
Dib looked around. “Who said that?”
“We did, human.”
Every Irken in the room rose to their feet. Tak prepared herself for a fight. Her eyes darted as she watched them all, poised to deploy the weapons in her PAK. But none made a move to attack. They all stood there, stalk still, with a dead look in their eyes.
Dib gaped at the sight. “H-how are you…”
“Silence Urth Creature!” the possessed Irkens shouted in unison, turning their cold eyes toward Dib. “Do not interrupt us again!” Dib shut his mouth and the Irkens calmed. “Congratulations defectives” they said, now addressing Zim and Tak. “It’s been centuries since we had to resort to total override, but mark our words, you will pay for this waste of food.”
“What do you care for waste?” Tak spat back at them. “You throw Irken lives away every day in your conquest.”
“A calculated cost to bring me more to feed from in the long term,” the Irkens explained with their eerily monotone voices. “You should know about calculated risks. Don’t forget, we see everything you do.”
“When have I ever sacrificed good soldiers?”
Every possessed Irken in the room wore the same mocking smirk. “All through your training days. Don’t you remember? We saw everything you did, every little cheat to get ahead.”
The Irkens tapped buttons on their control boards and soon, every monitor showed various scenes from Tak’s training years. “Electrodes hidden in your boots to cripple race opponents. Stealing test answers and planting them in a rival’s locker after copying them for yourself. You got top scores on your exams and excelled at your drills, but is it really victory if you have to sabotage your competitions? Oh sure, you studied and trained, but it never felt like enough, did it? Never thought you could win a fair fight. Had to tear someone else down first. Maybe, if it weren’t for all your cheating, we’d have let you make up your Elite ranking test. After all, we allowed everyone else who was inconvenienced by the blackout to take it.” Their smirks grew as they twisted the knife further. “Just not you.”
Tak ground her teeth together as she watched the images play out on the screen. There was no denying them. The monitors played footage from her own memory bank. They showed her and everyone else who she really was. She work so hard. She clawed her way to the top and did everything she could to stay there. But it was all a lie. And now they knew it. What was worse, Zim knew it. That little pain in the ass managed to make it to elite the first time, even while being a walking disaster, and he never had to deliberately cheat. The idea of him lording that over her was enough to make her blood boil.
“Perhaps you can prove everyone wrong, though,” the Irken voices went on. “Take the honest route for once in your life. Tell Zim what you learned on your little trip to Refirencee. Tell him what you suspect.”
“Fool!” Zim scoffed. “Zim already accessed Tak’s memories. I know everything she knows about the Control Brain parasite.”
“Yes, you saw the same books. But did you reach the same conclusions?”
“Guys! Don’t you see what it’s doing?” The Dib burst in. “It’s distracting you. It’s keeping you here until your leaders recover. Let’s erase those maps and get out of here!”
“Silence!” Zim snapped at Dib, then turned back to the dead-eyed Irkens. “Tell Zim what you know, creepy hive-mind…thing!”
“Have you ever wondered why you’re such a failure? Why you destroy everything you touch? Why, no matter what you do, everything always blows up in your face? It’s because you have no choice in the matter. It’s what you were made for.”
“What are you talking about?”
“Before we push for something big, we require extra sustenance. We take this sustenance in what some have called a blood toll. On our first planet, we made many mistakes, one was asking our hosts directly for sacrifices. We know better now.”
“Ans what does this have to do with me?” Zim growled impatiently.
“Since the beginning of our reign, one PAK has been passed down through generations, carrying a suppressed impulse for destruction. We need only to activate it and we have our blood toll. Clearly our PAK has become quite damaged over the years. It no longer works quite right. You’re so defective, you couldn’t even declare your name right.”
The screen flashed the name Zim across it. It then reversed the letters and spread them out to reveal an acronym. ZIM became MIZ. And MIZ became Massacre Initiator Z.
“You were supposed to live as a low-ranking drone until we activated your destructive impulse and die in the disaster. You, however, defied us at every turn. We kept you alive out of sheer curiosity. We wanted to see how your life would play out. It’s been entertaining, however, you’ve become too great a burden to bare.”
Zim stood motionless, staring straight ahead. They waited for the typical Zim outburst of “lies!” or declaring his greatness, but nothing came. His eyes looked as dead as the possessed Irkens around them. He said nothing, did nothing. As much as Tak couldn’t stand Zim’s obnoxious voice or erratic behavior, watching him be so still was chilling.
Tak’s antenna perks at the sound of footsteps trooping down the hall. The Dib’s head darted for the door. “Guy! Come on! We’re out of time!”
Tak smacked Zim’s lifeless body away from the control panel. “Do you think you can stop us by getting into our heads?”
“Oh simple Tak,” the Irkens sighed. “We've lived in your heads since you were fitted with your packs.”
Tak sneered at them. “I cut you off for me and I won't rest until every Irken is free of you.”
“Please, you worked your whole life to get our attention. You finally have it. Do you want to throw that away? Perhaps we can find a place with someone of your drive and ingenuity.”
“Liars!” Did they think she was stupid? She knew as well as it that treason of this scale would never go unpunished. Even if they tried to appease her with a higher rank or a cushy job, it’d only be a matter of time before they got rid of her. But even the fact that it was trying to negotiate meant something. She was a threat to it, and she would stay a threat until the day she died.
“We you know you, Tak. You’re a plotter. You won't do anything rash.”
They don’t know me half as well as they think. “Want a bet?” She started hitting buttons on the control board. An alert came up on the screen and the voice blared from the speakers. “All maps queued for deletion. Are you sure you want to proceed?”
She hit one more button and the screen went black. “Deletion successful.”
“Take that you parasite bitch.”
“Come on,” Dib begged, pulling on her arm. The footsteps were noticeably louder. “We have to go now!”
Tak took off running and Dib pulled on the frozen Zim until his legs moved. They burst into the hall and immediately came across a group of Irkan soldiers. “There they are!” one of the soldiers cried.
Tak led the way as they ran toward the ship’s hanger. The soldiers fired at them. A laser cannon popped out of Tak’s pack and returned fire, but it was difficult for her to aim while leading the dash to the Voot. She wished one of her companions had could back her up with a pistol but Zim was still barely conscious and Dib was preoccupied with keeping his legs moving. The sound of little metallic feet running beside them gave her an idea.
“Zim, tell me your SIR unit to go into defensive mode.
There was no response. Zim was as helpful as a sack of empty ginzor cans.
“Hey Zim’s robot,” Dib said to the little SIR unit.
Gir looked up at him curiously. “Hmm?”
“Don't you have any weapons or something?”
“Huh?”
“You know, something that makes pretty lights and goes ‘pew, pew’?”
“Oh that. I got that.” A giant laser cannon popped out of his head and he fired wildly into the soldiers behind them, forcing the Irkens to scatter for cover
Finally, they made it to the hangar and all jumped in the Voot. Zim slid zombie-like into the pilot seat.
“Come on,” Dib said, shaking Zim’s shoulder. “Get us out of here!”
“Zim!” Tak snapped. “If you don't fly this ship, I will!”
That seemed to work. Zim shook off whatever stupor he was in and his usual look of single-minded determination returned to his eyes. “No one pilots Zim’s ship but Zim!” He took hold of the controls and the ship roared to life. In a flash, they took off into the stars.
