The ‘Spice of Life’✨ Legacy Challenge
Sometimes playing the sims can get a little stale, and somewhat repetitive, especially The Sims 4. I know I can get stuck playing the same stories over and over again, so I decided to create this challenge to add a little excitement and variety to my, and hopefully your, game-play!
After all, variety is the spice of life!
Gen 1: The Wild Child
You’re a sim who loves to get down, go on adventures and spend time with other sims! You can be a bit of a handful for some sims, but that’s okay! You’ve been wild since the day you were born and you wouldn’t want to be any other way. You have about a million things you want to do in your life time and you’re gonna do them all!
Aspiration: Friend of the Animals
Traits: Dance Machine, Adventurous, Outgoing
Generation rules / goals:
Join the secret agent career and get to the top of it before your sim becomes an elder
Once your sim is an elder have them start a new job, keep them on their toes!
Complete the Friend of the Animals aspiration
Master the Dance & Pet training skills throughout your sims lifetime
Have five animals in your sims house-hold at one time (these should be cats, dogs, raccoon, foxes, etc.) - you don’t always have to have five but you should at some point
Have you sim have at least 10 friends and having a falling out with one of them and become enemies
Have a best-friend that is NOT your partner / spouse
Have your sim go out at least once every weekend to either the club, the bar or somewhere else they can dance! They’re a dance machine remember!
Your sim can have as many children as you like, but keep in mind that they have a lot of animals in the house
You must have at least one child in order for them to become heir, they can be adopted or biological, it doesn’t matter!
Go on at least two family vacations, one of these must be to Mt. Komorebi
Have your sim be a very relaxed parent, no rules, no pressure to get good grades, etc. (Parenthood is needed for this but if you don’t have it that’s okay just do your best without it!)
Gen 2: The Money Maker
Your parent was the coolest! but you always wished there was more structure in your life. You’re a perfectionist, and truth be told a little materialistic, but that doesn’t make you a bad person! You love to hangout with friends, playing video games and chatting about the latest Sci-Fi movies. From the time you were a child you knew you wanted the best things in life and were determined to work your butt off to get them!
Aspiration: Mansion Baron
Traits: Perfectionist, Geek, Materialistic
Generation rules / goals:
Have your sim start working as a teenager to save up for their future house
Complete the Mansion Baron inspiration
Reach the max level of the Business Career in either the Investor or Management branch (although the Investor branch makes a bit more money!)
Master the video gaming skill throughout your sims lifetime
Have your sim start their own club once in their teens with ‘Play video games’ as the main activity. Keep this club going throughout your sims life and try to have a club meeting once a week
Make your sim go to GeekCon whenever they can, once they have kids bring them along as well!
Have a hobby that can make you money - kind of like a side job. Whatever skill you choose (painting, flower arranging, etc.) master it
Once your sim completes their Mansion Baron aspiration have dinner parties once a week - Your sim is materialistic and they want to show off the nice house they’ve worked so hard for!
Once your sim becomes an elder have them retire and focus only on hobbies and relaxation (only once they’re reached the max level in their career though)
Gen 3: The Tree Hugger
You grew up in a wealthy household with pretty much everything you could have wanted. You had a great childhood and your admired your parents work ethic, although you knew that when you grew up you wanted to do something more meaningful for the world than investing. So you packed up your bags as soon as you hit young adulthood and moved to Evergreen Harbour
Aspiration: Eco Innovator
Traits: Green Fiend, Vegetarian, Good
Generation rules / goals:
Your sim should be a vegetarian as soon as they hit their teenage years
As a teen your sims should also start their own garden and begin working on their gardening skill
Your sim should complete the Eco Innovator aspiration within their lifetime
Master the Gardening skill throughout your sims lifetime
Master the Juice Fizzing skill throughout your sims lifetime
Join and reach the max level of the Civil Designer career
Your sim should live as sustainably as possible for this generation, this includes owning a bee box, having a dew collector and recycling with the home recycling machine
Have your sim marry someone as Eco-friendly as you bonus points if it’s Knox lol
Have an at home, eco friendly wedding in your sims backyard / yard. Having the wedding cake be a honey cake, get creative with it!
Adopt an animal that’s not a typical pet (raccoon, fox, etc.) your sim found this little buddy while dumpster diving and bonded instantly
Gen 4: The Undecided
You grew up with a parent and grandparent who accomplished great things; they were sims who worked hard and stuck to their guns. You have always been..well a bit different. You can’t even decide what you want for breakfast, let alone pick a career or spouse. This makes you jealous of others like your parent and grandparent who you believe have their life together.
Aspiration: You must change your sims aspiration 3 times during their life but never complete one, not even their childhood one.
Traits: Non-committal, Jealous, Erratic
Generation rules / goals:
Join and quit scouts as a kid; get about halfway through before you quit
Have your sim join at least two jobs as a teenager. They can join and quit more if you like
Get your sim to level 5 of at least three skill during their lifetime before they quit those as well
Change your sims career multiple times, making sure they never reach the top of any career
Get your sim married, and divorced...twice. It’s up to you whether you sim ends up finding someone to stay with. However, your sim must have only have one child from all of their relationships.
Have your sim have an affair during one of their relationships. It’s up to you whether the partner finds out about this or not
Your sim must lose their relationship with the Gen 3 sim (their parent) after a big fight over Gen 4′s jealousy issue. Your sim should never speak to that parent again
Your sim must never be best friends or true lovers with anyone; they are non-committal and that means no matter how much they care for another sim they feel somewhat unsure about every relationship
Gen 5: The Vampire Groupie
Your childhood was less than ideal, although your parent loved you they had a lot of their own problems and that left you pretty lonely at times. Your solace was a particular vampire movie about a sim who falls in love with a vampire. “That could be me,” you though, “That WILL be me.” So when you become a young adult you take everything you have and leave in search of your dream life in Forgotten Hollow, the only problem with your plan is that you’re just a bit squeamish... okay a lot
Aspiration: Master Vampire
Traits: Romantic, Family Oriented, Squeamish
Generation rules / goals:
Your sim should watch a lot of movies as a child and teen. Of course your sim loves that particular vampire movie that definitely doesn’t rhyme with Highlight, but really they love all movies
As soon as your sim becomes a young adult move them into Forgotten Hollow
Meet and start a relationship with a vampire of your choice; you can put a sim from the gallery in your game or date Caleb Vatore, Lilith Vatore, or even Vlad Straud if you want!
I think this goes without saying but your sim should be turned into a vampire for this generation lol
Complete the Master Vampire Aspiration
You can have any career for this generation, it doesn’t matter!
Master the Vampire Lore skill throughout your sims lifetime
Master the Pipe Organ skill throughout your sims lifetime
Start a ‘Vampire Club’ with only other vampires present, you can use this club to do any kind of vampire activity - however, since you left your old life behind, these sims are your only friends
Your sim is squeamish so they personally choose not to drink other sims blood unless absolutely necessary, this means your sim must grow and sustain a garden full of plasma plants
Once your sim obtains a plasma fruit (and two garlic) they can prepare a Sunlight Reversal Cocktail if they like, that way they can go into the sun during the day; this isn’t required though
Your sim must have at least three kids. One of these children should NOT be a vampire. This will be the heir. If all of your children are born vampires you can use a mods to make them human. I recommend MC Command Center, which you can find here: https://deaderpool-mccc.com/#/releases
I also recommend this mod: https://modthesims.info/d/589300/child-vampire-manifestation-v1-9.html which basically makes it so that child vampires can perform any vampire actions, just like teens, young adults, etc.
Gen 6: The Beach Bum
Your parents are absolutely wonderful, but are weird. In fact, you’re convinced that you’re the only sane one out of your whole family. You love them but who in the right mind would want to live the life of a vampire? You knew early on that the vampire life was not for you, and thank goodness you just so happened to be the only sibling born human! I guess you can thank those recessive genes. You want to live the Beach Life, spending your days out in the sun and working to conserve the beautiful island of Sulani!
Aspiration: Beach Life
Traits: Child of the Ocean, Loves the Outdoors, Free Trait / You can pick your sims third trait!
Generation rules / goals:
Your sim must move to Sulani as a young adult and spend their whole life there
Reach the max level of the Conservationist Career
Complete the Beach Life aspiration
Befriend as least one mermaid - your sim can become a mermaid to if they want but it’s not necessary
Marry someone who already lives on Sulani as well
Have your sim live in a house on the beach at least once during your their life
Complete the sea shell collection
Spend ALOT of time outside; fish, ski-do, tan on the beach - your sim loves the outdoors and the Sulani sun, anything they can do outside they will
Keep a close relationship between your sim and their parents & siblings - even though they don’t love the vampire life they love their family
Gen 7: The Tinkerer
You’ve always been a homebody, hanging out in your house on the computer and tinkering with things in the home. Your parent was always nagging you to go outside and play as a kid. As soon as you were old enough to hold a wrench you were fixing things. You knew when you became a young adult you wanted to go to Foxbury Institute and learn to program and create robots!
Aspiration: Computer Whiz
Traits: Genius, The other two traits can be anything you choose!
Generation rules / goals:
* For this generation I ABSOLUTELY recommend this mod which shortens university. It just makes it sooo much easier to complete a degree: https://modthesims.info/d/646803/shorter-university-degrees.html *
Your sim should spend a lot of time inside as a kid, using the computer, reading books, playing video games
Have your sim complete the Whiz Kid aspiration as a child
Master the Logic skill throughout your sims lifetime
Master the Robotics skill throughout your sims lifetime
Master the Handiness skill throughout your sims lifetime
Once your sim becomes a teenager they should be the one who fixes ANYTHING broken within the household
In order for your sim to attend Foxbury Institute for a Computer Science degree your sim must have certain skills (such as computer programming, robotics, etc.) since it is a distinguished degree. You’ll need to work on these skills as a teen to have a chance to be excepted there. If you don’t feel like having your sim work on those skills as a teen your sim can attend Britechester University but they should still work on the robotics skill!
Complete the Computer Whiz aspiration
Graduate university with a degree in Computer Science
Live in a modern style house in any world
Gen 8: The Believer
Your parent has always been a technological genius, creating artificial intelligence. But you’ve always known that science wasn’t needed for there to be fantastical things in this world. No one else in your family believes your crazy ideas about alien but hey, you once heard that your great grandparents were vampires, so it could be possible! Sure you’re a little erratic but you’re determined to prove the existence of aliens, and befriend them. How will you do this? Well by becoming an iron pumping, rocket building astronaut of course!
Aspiration: Bodybuilder
Traits: Athletic, Self-Assured, You can pick your sims third trait!
Generation rules / goals:
You sim must join and reach the top of the Astronaut career
Your sim must live in Oasis Springs
Have your sim complete the Body Builder aspiration - astronauts have to be strong after all!
Master the Rocket Science skill
Your sim will unlock a rocket when they reach level 10 of their career (the rocket can either be the Apollo Rocket - unlocked though the Space Ranger branch of the astronaut career, or the Retro Rocket - unlocked through the Interstellar Smuggler branch. You can choose which rocket you want) but honestly who wants to wait for that, so as soon as your sim gets to level 5 of their career use cheats to unlock the rocket and start building!
Once your sim has completed their rocket you must level up their Rocket Science skill to level 10 and then install the Wormhole Generator upgrade. This will allow you to travel to Sixam and meet aliens!
Your sim must befriend and marry an alien they meet on Sixam. If you don’t like that particular alien you can either come back to Sixam or open CAS and edit them, either is fine.
Have your sim have a baby with their new alien spouse. Only have ONE baby.
If your sims baby is born NOT an alien you can use cheats to make them one. MC Command Center can be used for this and is linked above for Generation 5
Gen 9: The Star of Sixam
You’re an alien and you’ve proud of it! You loved listening to your alien parent tell stories of your home world and knew that when you grew up you wanted to make your relatives on Sixam proud. The best way to do this is of course to become the most famous alien musician the Sim world has ever seen!
Aspiration: Musical Genius
Traits: Self-Assured, Perfectionist, Music Lover
Generation rules / goals:
Your sim must NEVER wear their disguise unless absolutely necessary - they are very proud to be an alien and they don’t see any reason to hide that
As a child your sim should complete the Artistic Prodigy aspiration
Master the Violin skill throughout your sims lifetime
Master the Piano skill throughout your sims lifetime
Your can have your sim master the Singing skill throughout their lifetime if you want, but it isn’t necessary
When your sim becomes a young adult move them to San Myshuno, where their musical dreams can really take off!
Have your sim busk for money in San Myshuno at least 5 times
Have your sim reach the max level in the Musician branch of the Entertainer career
Your sim should marry or be with someone who is also musically interested - you can enter CAS and cheat this or create your sims partner
It doesn't matter how many children your sim has for this generation, but the heir should NOT be an alien - you can use MC Command Center to make them human if you need to
Gen 10: The Apprehensive Actress / Actor AKA the Final Generation!
You grew up in a VERY artistic household, with parents who were both interested in music and one parent who made a huge career of it. You love acting and knew your parent was ecstatic when you started showing interest in acting as a teen. Unfortunately you don’t really like the idea of being famous...
Aspiration: Master Actress / Actor
Traits: Loner, Good, Creative
Generation rules / goals:
Your sim is an artistic child, however we aren’t gonna worry about completing the Artistic Prodigy aspiration as a child because we did that last generation - you can do it if you want though!
When your sim becomes a teen they should begin working on their acting skills
Your sim should reach the max level of the Acting career
Have your sim master the Acting skill
Your sim should marry someone non-famous in a private ceremony with only those sims (or family and close friends if you like) present
Your sim should maintain as good a reputation as possible - they are still a good sim, they are just a bit anti-social
Once your sim finished the acting career and has achieved the Global Superstar rank they should retire
Your sim, now retired from acting moves to one of two lots in Brindleton Bay that have NO neighbours
They should spend the rest of their life making money off of artistic projects such as knitting, painting, etc.
Have your sim leave the house only when necessary to avoid the paparazzi, and if they do go out they must wear a disguise
Your sims spouse can have any career, but they should NOT be famous in anyway
It is up to you whether you decide to have your sim have children and continue the family :)
Well we’ve come to the end of the challenge!! I just wanted to say if you decide to play this challenge or even have taken the time to read it, THANK YOU SO MUCH! It means the world to me to be apart of this sims community ❤️

This challenge was created by myself and my friend Amy because who doesn’t want to see this kind of crossover? Disney legacy challenge Post Hey everyone I decided to go ahead and upload another challenge that I plan on doing in the future rules today and right now I am doing back stories pictures for snow white's family and her dating relationship stories but I plan on up loading photos of all the house holds involved in this future challenge but I also plan on uploading the actual challenge gameplays videos to my personal youtube channel in the near future. I also will be adding a video of their backstories on my you tube channel as well.
Disney Legacy Challenge rules
All rules apply, except it is okay to pick an aspiration for all sims, as well as a secondary aspirations. Also, if needed, you can add sims that you create to the household. your sims may go on vacation at any time and go to University, unless noted otherwise. Generations are listed below.
Generation 1: Snow White
She was the first princess, so of course she has to be the founder! If you choose, you can create her as a teen and make her evil stepmother, but that’s not necessary. To start, create Snow as an Adult (or Young Adult if you wanted to go to University, but that is not recommended for this generation).
.Find love with someone of high authority and/or wealth
.Must have 7 children (dwarves) with the same baby daddy
.May not marry until the 7th child is a toddler, has learned to walk, talk and use the potty, and has maxed out 1 toddler skill at least, or until that child is a child
.Don’t open the door to strangers or talk to elderly women (this includes the matchmaker from Nightlife and Freetime!)
Generation 2: Cinderella
Although you grew up with six brothers and sisters, you somehow always ended up doing the cooking and cleaning. Your mother says you’re a natural, but is that really what you want to do with your life? This generation starts when Cinderella becomes a teenager.
.Must be a neat sim
.Must clean something every day and cook every meal
.Must reach at least level 8 of the cooking and cleaning skill before you become an adult
.May not marry until your mother dies
.May stop cooking all the meals and cleaning after your mother dies
.Marry, have children
Generation 3: Tiana
What has your family accomplished? Nothing! But you’re here to do something about it. You want to work, and work hard. This generation starts when Tiana becomes a teenager.
.Must be an active sim
.Must have the fortune aspiration
.Must get a teen job
.Must go to University (if you have the expansion pack)
.Father must die before she goes to University or becomes an adult
.Must own a pet (if you have Pets, otherwise just get a fish)
.Must marry a sim with green (hair, eyes, skin, etc.)
.Have children
.Reach the top of career choice and may never retire
Generation 4: Aurora
Because of your mother’s hard work, everything just came to you, except for love. Your father rarely let you in the outside world for fear of something happening to you. This generation starts when Aurora becomes an Adult (may not go to University this generation)
.Must be a lazy sim
.Can only know three people outside her family
.Mother must die before Adulthood
.Must meet future spouse at night while her parents are sleeping
.Have a private wedding
.Only have 2 children (having 3 children by having accidental twins is fine)
Generation 5: Elsa (Requires Apartment Life, if not, see generation 5.5)
Where exactly did your powers come from? How exactly did you get it? Well, let’s just say, a certain friend gave you a curse… but that doesn’t matter. You spent all your time thinking about it, so much time, you became secluded from your entire family. You even missed your own parents’ funeral because you were too scared to show yourself! This generation starts when Elsa is a teenager.
.Must become a witch by the end of her teenage years (can not be cheated, can be good or bad)
.Have parents die as a teenager (can be cheated)
.Never marry, have one child (it was an accident)
Generation 5.5: Anna (If you have Apartment Life, you can do Anna and Elsa together)
After your sister was a child, she secluded herself from you, leaving you lonely and depressed. What did you do to deserve this? And after your parents’ death, she didn’t even show up to the funeral! What exactly is going on? When Anna is a teenager, this generation begins
.Don’t talk to sister until adulthood
.Have parents die as a teenager
.Find love with someone in the criminal career and/or a grouchy sim
.Have lover cheat on her, get engaged with loved
.Find someone new after breaking up with lover
.Marry, have one child
Generation 6: Rapunzel
You were never allowed outside your little house. So, to pass the time, you chose to do a lot of painting. But, why exactly did your mother never trust you out there? This generation begins when Rapunzel becomes a teenager.
.Must be a shy sim
.Must reach at least level 8 of the creativity skill before adulthood
.Must paint for an hour each day
.May only leave the house for school
.If you go to University, you may only talk to boys (if you don’t have University, just move in a handsome adult sim)
.Lover must be in the criminal career
.Lover must quit job before getting married (can get another one if they want)
.Marry, have kids
Generation 7: Belle
You have always found a love for books. It has transported you away to another universe. They taught you not to judge by appearance, but by character and personality. But, your father had different ideas. He set you up with the most handsome men, but none of them fit your standards. This generation begins when Belle becomes an adult.
.Must have Pleasure or Romance aspiration
.Date at least 5 men
.Find the man of your dreams- a werewolf (this may be cheated if necessary). If you don’t have Pets, just make an ugly sim
.Marry, have kids
.Werewolf is cured after marriage (if you don’t have Pets just try to make him less ugly or use hacks and cheats to change his appearance)
Generation 8: Ariel
You loved the water and everything about it. It just transported you away to another dimension, with mermaids and fish that talk to you. You always dreamed about being a mermaid, and you hope to one day make this dream a reality. This generation begins when Ariel becomes a teenager.
.Must be an active sim
.Must own a pool and swim in it for an hour or more each day
.Must marry a beautiful sim with at least two attraction bolts (if you have Nightlife)
.Have kids (no limit)
Generation 9: Jasmine
Living the rich life has its ups and downs. To you, it seems like mostly downs. The only thing you find comfort in is Raja. All your father wants from you is to marry rich, but you’re willing to give it all up just to be normal. This generation starts when Jasmine is a teenager.
.May only leave the house for school
.Must meet future spouse on a community lot dressed as a “poor person”
.Must marry a poor sim
.Lover must have a pet (if you have Pets)
.Go on vacation to all three vacation areas at least once
.Make use of the genie! (May not be cheated, can wish for anything besides hidden Give Me Youth)
.Have 4 children
Generation 10: Merida
You always wanted to know why your mother gave up her riches for a poor boy. Who in their right mind would do that?! Trying to learn more about this and your other “adventures” has landed you in lots of trouble over the years. When Merida becomes an adult, this story beings.
.Must be an active sim
.Lose siblings and mother in an “accident” (may be cheated)
.Resurrect them as zombies (use the resurrect-o-nomitron)
.Never marry or have kids
Generation 10.5: Mulan (for those who want a happier ending)
After your mother married her lover, she realized she wanted her children to live the life she did. She wanted all her children to marry rich, and succeed at life. But you wanted nothing but glory. When Mulan becomes an adult, this generation begins.
.Must be an active sim
.Must be in the military career
.Fall in love with a co-worker once you reach the top of the career
.Marry if you wish, but never have children
.Never retire

The DLC Legacy Challenge
CreatiI wanted to share a legacy challenge that I came up with to change up my own gameplay and explore more content in TS4. Each generation focuses on one DLC. It does not follow the traditional/original legacy rules as I haven’t assigned any points or anything like that. It also isn’t a super elaborated challenge. The player can choose themself what kind of story they want to tell with each generation.
Disclaimer: I do not own Vampires, Realm of Magic, or Star Wars GP packs nor any of the new kits, so any gameplay included in those DLC is obviously not included in the challenge. All other packs are included in the order in which they came out (last generation = Snowy Escape, 14 generations total). If you don’t have all the DLC, you can simply skip a generation. You may share this challenge, but please link to my tumblr.
Have fun and let me know what you think! Happy simming! :)
Rules: Each generation must produce an heir, but there are no rules as to who can be an heir, that’s up to the player. Adoptions are allowed too. You may only proceed with the next generation (= move them out) when the next heir has a) reached the Young Adult life stage, and b) the previous heir has fulfilled all their objectives. You may, however, start working on the succeeding heir’s aspiration etc. while they still live with the previous generation. The objectives do not need to be completed in the order they appear here. If an heir has fulfilled an aspiration, a new one may be chosen. Each new heir starts out with starter funds (§20,000) on a new lot in the world assigned to that generation. You may play in a Tiny Home and use those perks if you own that pack. If you want, you can limit each generation’s CAS and B/B to their respective pack. However, you can always include other gameplay aspects from other packs too. Spares and spouses’ traits and aspirations may be chosen freely. One objective for each generation is to get married. You may opt to neglect that objective and choose to play with other types of families as well. Just make sure to have a subsequent heir for the following generation. The legacy is intended for a normal life span, but you may change to longer/individual. I just wouldn’t recommend short life span :D You may use CC and mods to enhance gameplay as long as it doesn’t give you an advantage with any of the objectives (no cheats allowed!).
Disclaimer: Parenthood GP has not been assigned for a specific generations as I feel those gameplay features will be used anyway in raising generations.

...Am I too late for the meme? C,G,M, and S if you please?
No, you’re not! Just let me find it real quick.
C: Favourite Pre-Made
Hm... This one always changes depending on who I’m currently playing. Currently, I’m super excited to start playing the Pleasant family and of those four... I think I’m most interested in Angela Pleasant this time around, closely followed by Lilith (I’ve got plans for them!).
G: Favourite Expansion Pack
I’ll always, always have a soft spot for the Nightlife expansion. It was the first expansion pack I ever got and it just added so much stuff to the game (especially those heinous outfits I loved!).
M: How Long Have You Been Playing any of the Sims?
Ha, that’s a story that almost always changes. Okay, so I know I got the game before Sims 3 came out (because I played Sims 2 on the old family PC before I got my very own laptop to play Sims 3 on) and I first came into contact with Sims while “babysitting” a friend's little brother, who is roughly eight years younger, so... I must’ve been at least ten (my parents actually did the babysitting - they were right next door but I can’t imagine they would’ve left us alone with an infant). That narrows it down to 2006 to 2008-ish, I think? I’m pretty sure I got Sims 3 in its release year and I remember that some of my first expansion packs after Nightlife were Apartment Life and Freetime. So I guess I’ve been playing the game since maybe 2007, definitely played it since 2008. I’m kind of late to the party, but to put it into perspective: I was 12 in 2008 and my parents were very careful with what kind of media we were allowed at what age.
S: Pit a TS2 EP vs a TS3 EP
Oh boy, I don’t really know a lot about TS3 (dropped it like a hot potato to return to my beloved Sims 2 one expansion pack in). So let’s go with the one Sims 3 expansion pack I’ve played: World Adventures. The corresponding Sims 2 expansion pack would be Bon Voyage. So, those two?
Time to admit something: I don’t really use the vacation hoods a lot in Sims 2. The hoods are nice, I’m a bit baffled at how adding them floods the game with so many new townies (why do my teens insist on always bringing vacation hood townies home from school?). I love the idea of the memory system and the game offers plenty of distinct activities which I enjoy playing when I add a vacation destination. I usually only add one of them, though. So many lots that need makeovers!
Sims 3 is more challenge oriented. From what I remembered, playing as an explorer felt nice, but I also feel like it was a bit one-sided. Would’ve loved it if Sims could take an actual vacation in those destinations, as I remember thinking that they were nice. But then again, the focus was on adventuring, not vacationing.
I think if I pit those two against each other, Sims 2 will always come out on top since that’s “my” game, but I do admire World Adventures for what they tried to do. It was a nice and refreshing take on the well-known expansion packs (but I do wonder if it was the first “harbinger” of some of the issues that plague Sims 4 today - namely, the focus on the “adventure” playstyle...

Sims 3 Tutorial: Creating an Uncharted Island
The Sims 3: Island Paradise.
Disclaimer: I found this tutorial some time ago and can’t remember where I found it. I have altered the text in many places and provided my own screenshots from Sunset Valley.
This simple tutorial shows how to create a hidden island in The Sims 3. Isla Paradiso is the only premade world that features the hidden islands, one of the main features in Island Paradise. There are 8 uncharted islands to unlock, and each of them has different ways to be unlocked. One problem of this feature is that the discovering the hidden islands is the main objective of Grand Explorer lifetime wish. Because hidden islands are only available in Isla Paradiso, there's no other way to fulfill this lifetime wish than to move to that world or to vacation in it.
Preparation
Requirements: 1. Enable testingCheatsEnabled true 2. Enable buyDebug on 3. Uncharted Island Marker
Download Uncharted Island Marker override. (requires Island Paradise)
The marker is hidden in the game by default, so you’ll need to download the override to find it in Buy > Debug >Misc Objects, or (for quicker access) Buy > Debug > Tomb Objects. Unzip the file and place it in the Mods/Overrides folder.
A "hidden island" is a lot that has an Uncharted Island Marker and surrounded by dense fog to make the lot inaccessible or viewable. Once the player unlocks a lot, the fog will fade, the marker will vanish, and the lot will immediately become a private residential lot, owned by the Sim who discovered it.
The Uncharted Island Marker is similar to the Tomb Room Marker from World Adventures, which is used to mark a room as a tomb.
Steps
First, set up a regular residential lot that the player intends to "hide". It could be furnished or just an empty lot. You can place a lot or use an existing residential lot.
Enable the testingCheatsEnabled true and buyDebug on cheats. Find the Uncharted Island Marker at the tomb or misc. section of buydebug. Place the marker anywhere on the lot.
Ctrl+Shift+Click the marker, and it will show the options available.
Use the "Set Discovery Type" to set how the lot can be unlocked. There are 8 ways to unlock the islands. Choose one that best suits how to unlock it:
CayToCity: Unlocked by rescuing 35 Sims as a Lifeguard.
ResortMogul: Unlocked by owning a 5-star resort.
PlumbobIsland: Unlocked by finding a PlumbBob map in a treasure chest or a message in a bottle.
LocalsRefuge: Unlocked by completing an opportunity chain by asking the resort desk clerk for an adventure.
ExplorersReward: Unlocked by swimming / going right to the island / lot.
TreasureHunt: Unlocked by finding 4 pieces of map and reconstructing it into a full map.
ScubaSurprise: Unlocked by exploring a certain underwater cave with level 10 Scuba Diving skill.
MermaidSecret: Unlocked by befriending a townie mermaid.
It is important to consider how to unlock the islands, because not all features might be available in other worlds, unless the players have provided them. For example, there's no way to unlock a hidden lot by using ResortMogul, LocalsRefuge, ScubaSurprise, or MermaidSecret if the world doesn't have a resort or diving area. Although the LocalsRefuge type starts at a resort, one of the steps in the chain requires fighting a shark, which requires a dive lot.
For map pieces, Seashell and Bottle Lander Spawners (common, uncommon and rare found under Debug > Rocks/Gems/Metal Spawners) can be placed on beach lots (or any lot for that matter). IP Treasure Chest Land (Debug > Misc) can also be placed about the world. The default treasure includes a map piece. You can Ctrl+Shift+click the treasure chest in Buy Mode to change the treasure type.
Use the "Set Effect" to set the fog visual effect to hide the lot, like the ones in Isla Paradiso. Use just one of the effects, and leave it be. Don't repeat the selection more than once.
When the steps are done, the lot will fog over, and when viewed in the map view or edit town, the lot will not generate a map tag. It means the lot is successfully hidden.
Check if the lot is properly hidden. If you’re certain that you’ve done the steps properly, there's no need to actually test it. However, we can always double-check if the methods were done right. In order to do this, (save your progress) make a Sim with the Grand Explorer lifetime wish and move them into the world. Open up the cheat console and enter discoverAllUnchartedIslands cheat. If the lifetime wish is fulfilled, it means the lot is successfully hidden, ready to be discovered properly.

Hey you lovely Simmers! It is time for our new Spotlight of the Month. Please give a warm welcome to LittleMsSam aka @littlemssam 😊 I don’t know about you, but I couldn’t play the game without her mods and am so grateful for all of them!
Aloha everyone!
First of all thank you Kerstin for the Opportunity to introduce myself here.
My name is LittleMsSam and I am a Sims 4 Modder since January 2017. I used to play Sims 3 a long time ago and loved it. Not only because of the Game itself but because of the fact that it is a Game which supports modding. I love Games that gives Players the opportunity to mod it and make it more individual. Back then I was fascinated what modders could do with the Game but unfortunately I lost interest in Sims 3 because of lags and the long loading screens.
When Sims 4 came out I immediately loved the new Style. But of course in the beginning not much was to do since it was only Base Game. So I lost interest again for a while until I got back into the Game in the end of 2016.
I was on a Mod Hunt again but there was one thing I simply could not find. The Game was too easy for me so i was searching for a certain Mod to make it a little bit harder. But the only Mods I could find did the opposite: Mods that were making Painting & Writing faster. This was the reason i started to dig into modding myself and the beginning of a Modding Journey that quickly „escalated“.
I learned the Basics of Modding via Scarlet’s Tutorials on Sims 4 VIP. Which Tools do i need, how do i update my Mods and so on. From then on it was and still is a lot of trying by doing, failing and succeeding, laughing and crying.
My first Mod was…
now you can guess…
A slower Painting & Writing Mod. Tadaa!
I was so proud of myself back then and it is still one of my personal favorites that i use in my Game.
After that another Mod followed and another after and more and even more and now i am at a number of 164 Mods, 60 more Mods in a Random Small Mod Collection and a few Bug Fixes.
The main time I spent into modding now is to actually keep all those mods updated and to tweak them here and there. Especially after new Expansions Pack Patches it takes me sometimes up to 10 hours to check & update all of those Mods. Unfortunately for me I still use 95% of them myself so there is no way i would abandon them as long as i play this Game. And by playing I mean I load up the Game, play ten minutes, close the Game and tweak some Mods or make new ones to tweak the Game.
My Mods are various Mods from small tweaking Mods to bigger new Gameplay Mods.
Some of my favorite smaller Mods are the Slower Painting & Writing Mods like mentioned above. The Choose who you Call to Meal Mod which lets you choose who you want to call to Meal and if you want to eat too or not. The Auto Employees | Custom Lot Trait Mod which let’s Barista, Bartender and more auto spawn on Community Lots. The Automatic Thermostat & the Automatic Stereo System Mods which let’s you “upgrade” your Thermostat/Stereos to be automatic. The Cookbooks Cultural, Experimental, Seafood & Jungle Mod which adds new buy-able Cookbooks into your Game. The Sell via Simbay Mod which is a new unique Selling Service where you can submit all your crafted Items and Artifacts. The … annddd I should stop here or else this List will be endless. I use almost all of my Mods myself so yeah they are all kind of my favorites.
Those „smaller Mods“ are usually done in a few hours. Testing them though takes more time then doing them.
There are also some bigger Mods that add new Gameplay and/or took much more time do them and to test them. Those usually take a few days to do and even more days to test.
My first really big Mod was the More Buyable Venues and new Venue Types Mod which let’s you buy more Venues and adds new Venue Types to the Game. It was the first Mod where i had to dig deeper into the Game to figure out how I could buy Bars, Clubs and Co. just like I could with the Retail Lot. But in the end I got it to work and my first big new Gameplay Mod was finished.
My personal favorite bigger/new Gameplay Mods are:
The More Servings Options & Better Meal Time Menus Mod which adds new Servings Options via the cooking and gourmet cooking Menus of stoves & fridges (2, 3, 5, 6 & 7 Sizes). It does not sound big but it took me a hell lot of time to make all those recipes ;)
The Social Activities (Visit Friends, Family and more) Mod which adds Social Activities for your Sims to go to. You can go visit Friends, Family & more or go on Vacation & Honeymoon. Or you can visit a Music Concert or a Cooking Competition and have a chance to win a prize. You can also send your Toddlers to the Daycare or your Pets to the Pet sitter or Dog Trainer.
The Ultrasound Scan Mod which let’s you visit a Gynecologist to do a Ultrasound Examination. This Mod was only possible thanks to Turbodriver who helped me with the script part of this Mod. I really love this one i have to say!
The Live in Business Mod which let’s you run Businesses at Home like a Bar, a Club, a Daycare, a Vet Clinic, a Shop and many more.
And last but not least (before I get carried away again…) the Foster Family Mod where you can become a part of the LMS Foster Family Network and take care of Toddler, Children, Teens or Pets who are in need of a Foster Family. This Mod was only possible with the help of NisaK who helped me with the script part of this Mod. I use this one all the time to foster a bunch of Pets and find them a new Home in the Sims 4 Worlds.
There are also some Mods I personally don’t even use but I was up for a challenge to do them anyway. The biggest one is the “SimDa” Dating App Mod which can help you find your true love, have adventurous Blind Dates or hot One Night Stands.
Now enough of me, my Mods and my shameless self advertising.
I want to say that even if it can be pretty exhausting to support those Mods, I am really grateful I found my way into Modding and that I could meet some amazing people out there. Turbodriver, Basemental, Deaderpool, NisaK, RoBurky, Icemunmun, Scarlet and many more who are all amazing modders and personalities. Scumbumbo who was an inspiring, helpful, kind and amazing person who will be greatly missed. The MCC Discord Team who help the community each day as much as they can with Game Issues. EA & everyone involved for making a great Game that I really enjoy playing.
And of course everyone who uses and enjoys my Mods which is a huge motivation to keep going.
Everyone who did not know about me or my Mods feel free to come over and check my tumblr out.
Thank you all!

Sims 4 Pack Ranking
Wondering which Sims 4 pack to buy? Here is my personal ranking.
Expansion Packs
1. Seasons
Great pack! It brings so much to the game! Weather gives the game a sense of realism. Being able to control the sim calendar is a God-send! You can add your own holidays and schedule events! Traditions are fun and bring family and friends together. I love throwing a Black and White bash on New Year’s Eve and a Dinner party on Christmas Day. It also helps you keep track of your sims’ schedules. Not to mention swings, sprinklers you can play with, kiddie pools, flower-arranging tables, snow activities, scarecrows, water baloon buckets, roller-blading and ice skating rinks and so much more! CAS and Bulid and Buy are also wonderful! And finally you can choose sims’ hot weather and cold weather outfits!
2. Cats and Dogs
I am biased because I love animals. Pets are a great addition to the family. You can train dogs, take them for walks and play with them. CAS for them is amazing! Brindleton Bay is a great seaside new world. And you can create and own your own vet!
3. Island Living
Certainly not everyone’s favourite pack but I absolutely love it! Sulani is a gorgeous world. Living the island lifestyle is one of my favourite’s to experience in this whole game. And now you can vacation their for a wonderful honeymoon or family trip! There’s mermaids (which you can become or create), sand activities, water activities like swimming, jet-skiing, canoeing, diving, scuba-diving and playing with dolphins. CAS and Build and Buy are amazing!
4. Discover University
My one issue with this pack is that I think it takes too long to graduate, especially when you’re playing on short lifespan. But apart from that, I have so much fun completing each students daily and term check-lists and it feels so good for your sim to enter a career at a higher level, already armed with the necessary skills. Living on campus is fun, especially in dorms. You can play table tennis, juggle a football or join the rabbit-hole team, build robots, ride bikes and more!
5. Get Together
Another pack that is not everyone’s favourite. I personally find it to be an essential. I use clubs all the time to allow family and friends to get together and socialise autonomously or to create specialised clubs where they complete hobbies autonomously and raise their skills. I find the nightclub experience so fun and take my sims out to one every friday in their clubs or by hosting a dance party or both! And the world is gorgeous! I love the little cafe’s!
6. Get Famous
I end up having a lot of performer sims, so the fame system and perks come in very handy. And your sim can get famous doing anything with the help of a drone and a video recording station! I think it adds to the game working towards your sim becoming not only a painter but a world-renowned one! There’s even a music station where you can create your own beats! The actor career is my favourite in the whole game. It’s so fun having your sims dress up in different costumes and perform a sword fight on set.
7. City Living
The City is beautiful. The festivals are amazing! My favourite is the spice festival because yes to my sims experiencing new cultures! I love living in an apartment. There are so many quirks, like your neighbour forcing their way in to borrow your shower or for game night. Love shooting hoops, setting off fireworks and adding all the new dishes to unique restaurants.
8. Snowy Escape
I’m still learning about this game as it’s fairly new. Love exploring the new culture. Their aren’t as many things to do at the festivals as I feel their were at those that came with City Living. Great food to add to restaurants. Snowboarding and skiing are really fun and it’s great that kids can do it too and that all ages, including todllers can snowboard. As someone who goes on a lot of walks, I look forward to trying out hiking. It looks really fun! I just feel this pack could have packed in a little more.
9. Get To Work
I’ve had this game for ages and I’m still yet to buy my own retail store. I need to get on that! I haven’t played the scientist career yet but I’ve played the doctor one and the law enforcement one and they do get boring after a while if your playing them actively everyday. Perhaps I should not play actively some days in the future. I think I just need to play with this one more.
10. Eco Lifestyle
I was really dissapointed when I heard this game was coming out. I’m all for saving the environment but I wasn’t sure it was something I’d have fun playing with in the sims and I haven’t really had much fun with it. Candle making is kinda fun but I hate that you have to have bits and pieces to make them as they are not easy to get. The only thing I really like in this pack is juice fizzing and the neighbourhood action plans. Free-love is a great addition for my polyamorous sims but it sucks that once they’re out of the neighbourhood, they get jealous again. Living off a dumpster is a fun challenge but it gets boring after a while. I don’t really like CAS or build and buy that much either.
Game Packs
1. Parenthood
Great pack! Adds so much depth to family play and I am pretty much exclusively a family player, even when I play with supernatural sims. I love that parents and guardians can shape their children’s personalities. Build and Buy is so pretty and colourful! It screams family play! Love the kids school projects. Love being able to ground kids and put them on time out, disciplining and encouraging them and even ordering them to do things.
2. Vampires
I looove playing with supernatural sims! In general I prefer witches and wizards and magic to vampires but this is just a solid pack. Build and Buy is beautiful and allows you to create unique gothic and historical buildings. CAS is very cool too! Forgotton Hollow is gorgeous. I absolutely love the look of it! I want to live their! I don’t care how creepy it is. The vampire powers system is so good and gives you a great goal to work towards. I get such a thrill using powers on and biting other sims at night. It looks so spooky! Super speed is so useful! And I love creating vampire clubs and having them have epic looking vampire duals, letting them spar and train eachother and turn other sims into slaves or vampires or vampire slaves! Much darker than the other games. I just wish kids could have vampire powers and have a vampire form.
3. Realm of Magic
I don’t know what it is but this game doesn’t seem as in depth as Vampires. It should but it somehow doesn’t. But it’s still a very good pack that satisfies my Potterhead needs well enough. You can create so many different types of spellcasters but I personally like going to the magic realm and learning all the spells and potions. It’s so fun duplicating yourself and setting sims on fire or conjuring a meal out of nowhere. Build and Buy is beautiful and duels are epic! I only wish kids could cast spells and it wasn’t so easy to learn all the spells and complete the aspirations.
4. Dine Out
A lot of people say this game is glitched and it does take, like a whole day to have a 3-course meal but I personally enjoy that. I like taking family or friend groups out to beautiful restaurants from the gallery on a Sunday and letting them socialise their all day while waiting for their meals and enjoying the atmosphere. I use this pack all the time. I love owning restaurants. I love choosing the menus and creating restaurants that reflect different cultures’ cuisine. Running one is really fun. It’s hard to get a balance, especially while starting out but with perks you can watch your restaurant thrive.
5. Strangerville
I played this through for the first time recently and I really enjoyed it! Much more than I thought I would. I love the possessed sims. They are so freaky. It’s a shame that it doesn’t feel like a game you’d want to play again but the world is nice.
6. Jungle Adventure
I confess. I entered a (I think it’s called a) temple for the first time at the end of last year. It took me forever to figure out how to get to one but when I finally did I found the game play a bit lackluster. But it’s a beautiful jungle-y world that is worth visiting for a vacation and exploring the culture is fun! Build and Buy is also amazing. And I liked adding the new cuisine to my restaurants.
7. Outdoor Retreat
I haven’t played this one in ages but I remember I had fun doing it. Basically, you could have a similar camping experience in Selvadorada or any other world. But it’s fun for the winter log cabins and if you’re looking for a more forest-y vibe.
8. Spa Day
Gorgeous Build and Buy! Worth it for that alone but I feel this pack could have been a stuff pack if you look at it compared to what we’re going to get in, say, Paranormal Stuff. Working on the wellness skill is cool. Teleporting is useful but a bit slow. I like having my sims go to a yoga class, meditate, get a massage and go to the sauna.
9. Star Wars: Journey to Batuu
I’ve seen like 2 Star Wars films and had no idea what was going on both times. Similarly, I was pretty confused while playing but I can’t deny I had fun completing the missions, fighting with lightsabers and chilling with my droid. I did get board after a while though. It doesn’t really fit in the game but I’m happy for Star Wars fans. I’d be estatic if they did a Harry Potter, Once Upon A Time or X-Men pack!
Stuff Packs
1. Kids Room
By far the best for me. You get so much stuff for kids. Love the addition of Voidcritters! The kids clothing is adorable and the Buy objects are incredible! Perfect for kids and creating unique rooms for them!
2. Toddler
Love the new toddler play equipment! It is so, so cute to watch them play. The CAS is so adorable as are the Buy objects. I have yet to use play dates but they sound great for my families!
3. Backyard
Love the water slide. My sims have so much fun on it. And the objects are great! Perfect for building a family garden. It makes me want to use the garden more in the sims.
4. Spooky
Not everyone’s favourite but I love spooky things (I was deprived of Halloween as a child!). I use it all the time to have spooky dress-up parties or for spooky night clubs or lounges. It’s the perfect thing to flesh out Spooky Day from Seasons.
5. Romantic Garden
I just think it’s pretty lol. CAS is really nice as are the buy items. The wishing well is fun and great to cheat with to bring back dead sims quickly, I recently discovered. There’s nothing more wonderful than going to a beautiful flowery garden at night with your sims couples.
6. Bowling Night
I find bowling pretty fun in the sims. It’s great for a night out with the family. I am biased because I love bowling with family on special occasions in real life. It’s great for sims birthdays and Build and Buy is so unique as is CAS.
7. My First Pet
Again, not everyone’s favourite but the items are freaking cute! Perfect for kids rooms and having a pet rodent is pretty cool as are the new CAS for Cats and Dogs. I wouldn’t be opposed to them expanding another pack like this was used to do in the future.
8. Luxury Party
I use the buffet table and the chocolate fountain all the damn time.
9. Perfect Patio
For the hot tub mainly! But the Buy items are great.
10. Cool Kitchen
I just love having my sims eat ice-cream on a Sunday. There are so many flavour combinations!
11. Movie Hangout
I love my sims having movie night with popcorn lol. And CAS and Build and Buy are pretty cool.
12. Vintage Glamour
CAS and Buy items are awesome. I love the vanity table and that kids can use it. The butler is useful but only a few of my sims live that kind of life.
13. Tiny Living
I was so disapointed when this pack was anounced but actually having a Tiny House comes with a lot of useful benefits. And Build and Buy and CAS are so pretty. Wish the furniture was tinier and the bed didn’t kill your sims all the time! I would actually like to use that bed!
14. Laundry Day
I was upset that simmers voted for this. It adds realism, so I’ll give it points for that.
15. Nifty Knitting
Again, I was upset that simmers voted for this but the Buy items are so colourful and pretty. Knitting can be kinda fun and some of the knittables are cute, especially the baby grows! Plopsy is a fun addition but I haven’t been able to make much money off of it.
16. Moschino
Love the update to photography. I use it with one fashion forward household. I hate CAS and Build and Buy.
17. Fitness
I never use the climbing wall but I like the wood design on the Buy items.

Ranking ALL the Sims 3 Expansion Packs - tonitalks
WOW, Tonitalks and I have a lot of similar ideas about the TS3 EPs! ❤️
It’s like, on one hand, every TS3 EP is amazing (especially when compared to the pittance being sold in TS4′s EPs). But on the other hand, EA really dropped the ball in areas where it should have really gone further to expand core gameplay. Even the best EPs had glaring flaws, and tend to fall short of things TS1/TS2 did better. But on the whole, what we got was just enough to keep the TS3 fandom alive even 11 years later. Bless.
MY THOUGHTS (under the cut):
(Unless Tumblr’s flagged it, I could’ve sworn I made an updated Best/Worst post ranking all the TS3 EPs. But the only one still on my blog is my old one I made before I bought all the EPs, though it mostly still aligns with how I feel.)
Toni S A B C D F ranking system is mostly based on which packs have the most content and varied things things to do. Toni’s S A B ranks are her must-owns, while the C D F ranks are her most disappointing games.
S: Generations, Supernatural
Toni’s only complaint about GEN is the Imaginary Friends lifestate, which: same. Frikkin creepy. But the rest of GEN is a MUST-OWN for kids & elders.
And finally! A reviewer giving Supernatural the respect it DESERVES! ^0^ SN was stuffed to the brim; SO much content! Granted, it’s no Makin Magic, and I personally was underwhelmed by Moonlit Falls, as I like Midnight Hollow and Dragon Valley WAY more, but SN is still my favorite TS3 EP, regardless. Anyone who loves the “weird, wonderful and magic“ side of The Sims NEEDS SN. 💯💯💯 (Just make sure to mod the Zombies out or adjust your lifestate settings; whatever works to get rid of them.)
A: Seasons, University
Seasons is an excellent pack--Toni wanted a new world, which: same, but there’s just an ungodly amount of new content in SSNS, it’s the best and most well-made TS3 EP, period.
To this day I’ve NEVER sent my sims to UNI. I hate school IRL, so unless my sims are going to effing Hogwarts I have no desire to ever bother with the school crap. Toni doesn’t like the 3 social groups, but I actually LOVE them. Almost all of my sims are either Rebels or Nerds. Crazy enough, I love the amount of new content UNI added, I just never use it for my sims’ schooling. I love the radio station, weather machine, whiteboard, skeleton set, etc etc.
B: World Adventures, Pets
For Toni, the main complaint for WA is basically the repetitiveness of the tombs, and their lack of replayability. Yes, technically this is true, as WA veers dangerously close to where TS4 went wrong with all the storyline GPs, as if they’re Castaways or The Sims Medieval. The main difference though is that we can create/download as many new tombs as we want, which 100% keeps WA fresh and interesting for me. But yes, It’s an excellent pack, which is crazy considering it’s the first one for TS3.
Toni's biggest criticism for Pets is how high maintenance horses are, which YES. Unless your sims are rich and own a lot of property, horses are almost impossible to own...but that’s how horses are IRL anyway, so IMO I don’t see that as a negative. The only problem is when you want horses in CC worlds that are too small, where you can't fit in enough 64x64 lots. (So it’s no surprise TS4 didn’t even bother. 🙄 )
C: Ambitions
Toni felt that more could’ve been done with the professions & careers, which, YES! Too many rabbithole careers, and not enough interactions. I freaking love that they added professions with playable firehouses and private investigators, but I too wish that every career could just be opened up; I hate rabbitholes. And she thought Twinbrook was meh, but I think Twinbrook’s one of the better EP worlds. (The Store worlds are where it’s at, though -- eff most of the EP worlds, tbh.) Overall I really really like AMB; it was headed in the right direction, though I can see where it could’ve easily let people down who were expecting a lot more from the professions/careers. (EA obviously learned NOTHING from AMB’s feedback, considering what Get to Work did....)
D: Showtime, Island Paradise, Into the Future
Showtime: Toni said “what was this game?“ 😂The Genies were a poor fit, the professions should’ve given us WAY more, there’s no acting career in “Hollywood,“ etc. Exactly. Not to mention the dumpster fire that was Simport. But I have a love/hate relationship with SHT. I actually treat SHT the way I do UNI & IP -- I really like the side content it added; I just never bother with the core game mechanic: superstardom, schools, and underwater. That makes 50% of the game useless for me, which is why I always get EPs on sale. ^_^
I agree with Toni that Island Paradise should’ve been like World Adventures, with different vacation locations. It could’ve been more like Castaways, with Tiki/Polynesian/Melanesian islands, Asian islands, Caribbean islands, Mediterranean Islands, etc. Plus, both of us didn’t like the mermaid system. Making them requires too much effort for them to not do all that much underwater. But to be fair, IP added A LOT Of new content. For what it did add, there is an impressive amount. Island Living sure can't say the same! 🤣
Into the Future however.... I understand why Toni was so hard with this pack. Trust: I ran the main thread at the officials that asked for a Time Travel expansion, so ITF holds a very special place in my heart, cuz EA for the most part kinda listened? ITF is awesome. It added some super cool content that I use religiously; ITF’s one of my top 3 EPs. But yeah, choices were made that had me like WTF?? Toni wanted ITF to be more hi-tech, which SAME! I wanted more of a Star Wars Blade Runner cyberpunk neon metropolis, and a steampunk/dieselpunk industrial dystopia. I have no idea where TF that “utopian” Willy Wonka zany Hunger Games nonsense came from. It was kinda retro-futuristic Jetsons Star Trek TOS in a way, which I like, but...? Choices. EA definitely could’ve done more with ITF, for sure. IMO itr needed to be more like WA, too. U_U
F: Late Night - I hollered! 😭
Y’all know I effing hate Late Night. Only reason I keep it installed is for the musical instruments & highrises. It’s certainly no Apartment Life, and it’s definitely no Night Life, but it’ll do in a pinch. The obnoxious Celebrities/Paparazzi, Twilight vampires, cramped Bridgeport...no thanks. Especially with Boroughsburg out here just SHAMING EA. SHAME! I wish someone would remake Bridgeport as a cyberpunk world, that would be awesome. Otherwise most of LN is useless to me. :\
_________________________________________________________
TL;DR
So basically, if I were to follow Toni’s S A B C D F ranking system, and classify TS3′s EPs based on its content quantity, and EA’s dedication to thematic cohesion, my list would be as follows:
S: Generations, Seasons, Supernatural
All radically overhaul the core mechanics of the game/world itself: age states, weather, and lifestates/occults.
A: World Adventures, Pets
World Adventures added 3 new worlds and cultures; and Pets added animals. It’s just arguable whether EA should’ve done more with them all or not.
B: University, Island Paradise, Into the Future
Chock-full of new activities & skills, but your mileage may vary.
C: Ambitions (AMB didn’t really come with as much as it should have)
D: Showtime (SHT included a lot, but not much of it made thematic sense)
F: Late Night (LN needed to commit to what makes a celebrity--music/movie/fashion/etc CAREERS--rather than the hollow lifestyle of a celeb)

Not finished at all, but this is what I’ve been spending time on the past few days.
The first thing that struck me about Mt. Komorebi was that there needed to be some shops! (And a few other pack-specific lots that couldn’t ship with the EP, like spas, cafes, restaurants, karaoke bars... isn’t that the case with every new world we get?) But, first priority, food! Half of my sims don’t cook at all, so restaurants and carry-outs are a must in my towns. Otherwise my poor sims are eating nothing but cereal and garden salads. In a sporty world like this one, even sims who can cook might not find the time between all of their other adventures.
My son is a bit of a Japan geek, and he pointed out the charming RL Kawagoe when I was looking for some building inspiration. So I’ve been on a building spree in my game for the past few days, scrolling around on Google street view for inspiration. Also really wanting to book a RL adventure to Japan, but you know, Covid lockdown... But I really love the tightly packed historic buildings in Kawagoe, peppered with the occasional more modern build, and the busy feel of the street.
My shops are still in progress. 3 of the 5 buildings are still empty, and the store fronts need to feel busier with signage and clutter. I think they will fit in pretty well among this neighborhood’s surroundings. Now I have a functional carry-out/convenience store and ski shop. The other buildings are going to be a little cafe, a day spa, a karaoke bar, and perhaps an Airbnb style apartment around the back for vacationing sims to “rent.”
I made a new family to own this lot, because of course I had to delete all of the premade sims that came with the game. (Always do!) And none of my existing sims are in an immediate position to move to Japan on a whim and buy retail property. So that makes 253 playable sims! Whee! My game is gonna explode, lol!
Don’t mind the holiday lights on the eaves. That’s not traditional, just silly Seasons EP auto decorations.

Just some thoughts about my new save while I plan how I want to fulfill the last request in my inbox. I thought I’d write every thing down because it might help me think if I read it all back. I made it an entry you can see for those who enjoy super lengthy sims minutia. If you read this and have opinions or thoughts about where I could go with my ideas, please do share those opinions/thoughts with me!
1.) I have a family set to live in Glimmerbrook and a few ideas for the other residents there and the world’s overall vibe (I’ve not yet made the other families, nor renovated the world). I don’t care about ~spellcasters so my idea was to have at least one of the main families be immortals, and rivals with the family I’ve created already, who may themselves be immortal or half-immortal or not at all immortal but who will know that the other family is, and--whatever, who knows. Not the point.
The point is, I was making a few updates to my New Save Plans and while rereading everything, saw and thus remembered my idea to make Glimmerbrook into a vacation world/transcendentalist paradise. Recalling that plan, I still like it, and now I’m not sure what to do about anything there.
Issues:
Glimmerbrook and Granite Falls feel similar. I don’t want nor need two woodsy vacation areas.
Glimmerbrook has roads designed for vehicle travel. It’s not private and seems more “active” than I want a vacation world to appear, consistently. I’d also hate to lose some of the locations as isolated residential lots.
Where will I put the family I’ve already made? They were supposed to have a peacock farm!
2.) Never mind why it took so long for me to come up with a concept for Selvadorada; I’m suddenly super into giving it a 1930s Havana vibe--actual jungle notwithstanding--and moving it from the vacation worlds into the regular playable worlds. I’ve done the adventure playthrough already and it’s not going to fit into my new save so I’m not concerned with losing/avoiding that.
I want to move at least one world into the vacation world to make up for this swap, not counting Glimmerbrook since I’m undecided about that, and I’m thinking it’ll be Sulani. I actually love Sulani as a world (my mains lived there for a while) but it doesn’t make sense to me that there’s no beach vacation spot + I’d like to leave it wide open, fun, and with a relaxed vibe. I don’t want to disrupt the natural terrain. Super basic, open-plan, two-room rental properties + beaches + one place to get food/drink + one place (maybe the same place as the food/drink spot) to drink, dance, and... flirt, and that’s it.
I do (did?) have plans for Miss Sulani and Mr. Sulani and a whole thing, but I think I can still execute some of what I want. I mean... townies, etc., generate when you visit any world, including a vacation one, so I can just visit Sulani, let the townies generate to ensure they’re tied to Sulani, and then replace them with what/who I want, right? I guess? Yeah? Yeah.
Issues:
Actually... none? 99% sure I’m going to make Sulani a vacation world. 100%. 100% sure!
I never played the conservationist storyline or whatever the heck it is. I could still do that. Take a seven-day vacation in Sulani and clean the beach? I’ll have a few young, 1960s/1970s sims. A vacation to clean the beach = serving/volunteering in the Peace Corps? That was ~so hot back then. Now I get to name the sims version of the Peace Corps, so that’s fun.
3.) Let me get this straight: You’re concerned with leaving Sulani relatively untouched but want to slash and burn Selvadorada so you can have a nightclub? Interesting.
Actually, having thought about this more, I went back and looked at the pictures I took of every emptied world and I don’t see 1930s Havana working out in Selvadorada. I am now super not into this concept and don’t know what to do with Selvadorada, all over again. I still love the 1930s Havana concept and want to use it, though.
I looked at a few real life reference pictures and while I can see 30s Havana working with much of eastern Windenburg, I’m still really into eastern Windenburg as post-war Europe. “Europe” is broad, yes, and Windenburg will “be” multiple countries in one, but I don’t want to go even broader here and pull from multiple geographic regions around the globe, plus I’m already combining various cities into Oasis Springs, too, and so want to limit the “combining” approach. I looked at my world pictures again, and... Magnolia Promenade, though definitely not perfect, is the best place to put “Havana.” I think I can make it work, though, so that’s what I’m going to try to do!
Issues:
Magnolia Promenade was intended to be a Coney Island-Atlantic City boardwalk hybrid, another concept I want to keep. So... where’s that all going to go? I think it could work in Willow Creek, but with so many other lots there, the [boardwalk] will not be isolated in the way that I want it to be, though spreading it across the four side-by-side Crawdad Quarter lots + putting the attractions (Ferris wheel, carousel, etc.) in that closest 50x50 lot is certainly a workable option. Ugh, I don’t know, this needs more consideration.
4.) Forgotten Hollow and Newcrest are just...
Forgotten Hollow--to repeat myself--is getting a 20s-30s vibe, a Weimar Republic vibe, a German expressionist cinema vibe. It’s getting a seedy nightclub cabaret venue. Fine. Great. But what else is going to go there besides that? I’m not interested in multiple sims who fit into this world; I already have one done, I don’t think I need more than four others, and I don’t think I want to play a household of them so what else can fit into that world that makes sense/is “justifiable” within my gameplay? Just a deco church? Even with the cemetery, that can’t be the only cemetery in my save; that’s weird. Some hippie OD’s in Del Sol Valley and gets buried in Forgotten Hollow? The smiling milkman from Brindleton Bay has a cute life and eventually dies of old age surrounded by his grandchildren and gets buried in Forgotten Hollow? I mean, once, okay, maybe ~an “average” sim has a secret~ so that their ultimate resting place is a creepy, foggy, Germanic crypt, but, also... no. That milkman idea’s a good one, tho, right? Ah, shit.
Last I updated my plan document, I shifted my Newcrest plan to Evergreen Harbor and started kicking around the idea of making the three neighborhoods into the Haves, the Have-Nots, and the... Have-Somes, I guess, because it might make for some interesting storylines despite that I don’t want to use this game to play out class inequity/inequality as a constant theme. I can have some sims be total assholes to sims who are different than they are or who don’t live in the tony part of town, but, like, all of them are going to act like that? All of them except one? And then, let me guess, a rich sim and poor sim fall in love and sneak around because their respective families blah blah blah
But, then, what on earth to do with Newcrest? It’s so... boring. I hate the 50x40 lot. Even the 40x30 lots feel too big where they are. I hate the layout. I don’t understand it. I don’t understand the location of the water nor where the hospital-looking, officey-looking deco building is, and the reasoning behind the placement/existence of those big-ass rocks behind one of the Ridgeline lots, nor how any--any--of it works together in individual neighborhoods/the whole world. I understand it’s basically Willow Creek all over again but it suckssss and it’s too open-ended and this is from someone whose first move in every neighborhood she’s ever played in this entire series is to bulldoze everything.
Since I’ve changed direction in Willow Creek--let’s say I’ll put my boardwalk there for the sake of the rest of this sentence--I could shift my suburbia ideas to Newcrest, I guess, maybe put a library there and a (deco) high school. In another save, I tried to build the world up using Baltimore/Baltimore Harbor as inspiration and it was okay for a little while, I guess, but ultimately I didn’t achieve what I wanted and it was so boring to play there, even when I liked the sims I was playing.
Issues:
Again, Forgotten Hollow and Newcrest are just :P
So. More thinking to do. More planning to do.
Boy that’s a lot of words over a silly little game XD

Sims 4 Marvel Challenge!
This is a 10 generation challenge. If you have a specific expansion or game pack that would make the challenge more interesting, feel free to change it up a bit. It’s sort of a legacy challenge, but not quite. Naturally, because the Avengers aren’t related, this is going to be a little strange, but I tried to organize it chronologically for the most part.
Beware: there are some spoilers.
Generation 1: Steve Rogers “I could do this all day.”
The First Avenger. You’ve always been sickly and weak, so when you see someone being treated unfairly, you just can’t let it go. You might get hurt in the process of helping others, but that’s alright. You could do this all day.

I never liked TS3, but your recent gameplay pics makes it seem so fun. How many packs do you have? Do you play with any mods? This is unrelated, but I was wondering what are your opinions on Sims 4? I am asking because I love sims, but don't enjoy anything beyond sims 2 and it is becoming increasingly difficult to play the game on modern computers. My playstyle seems to match yours, so I would like to know your thoughts.
You know, I didn’t like TS3 for years. I think it was because I really wanted it to be TS2, only better. Like, the same exact game only with better graphics, more freedom with the open world, etc. When I tried to play TS3, I was spending so much time comparing it with 2 that I couldn’t appreciate it on its own merits, as a completely different creature. Which it definitely is…
And I babbled a lot (What a surprise!), so I’ll cut the rest. I just woke up, so pardon my incoherent rambling. :)
Once I finally accepted that TS3 isn’t TS2, I started to enjoy 3 a lot more, and then I started to discover its own unique strengths. Because it does have strengths over TS2 – gardening and its tight integration with cooking, for one, plus the adventure-vacations and, oh yeah, HORSES and the other pets that, annoying routing aside, are just better than TS2’s – although there are many things that I like better in TS2, of course. Primarily building. I love building neighborhoods from the ground up in TS2. Doing that is why I got the game in the first place. In TS3? I HATE BUILDING WITH THE FIRE OF A THOUSAND SUNS. (So I’m really thankful for the people who enjoy making custom worlds! :D ) I just want to open up a fully-built, ready-to-go, but unpopulated world -- and if it’s populated I just nuke everyone with Master Controller -- and play TS3 because its gameplay is actually really fun, IMO, once you stop expecting it to be TS2. Now, to be fair, I haven’t gotten tired of TS3’s gameplay probably because I haven’t been playing the game for a solid decade, so I haven’t done all the stuff a million times yet. But in TS2, I’m starting to find the gameplay really tiresome, even with all the mods to make it more interesting. So, I break up the tedium with building, while my “playing batteries” recharge. I can see me coming to a point where I’ll stop wanting to play it, though, and just want to build in it and make stuff needed for what I build. But I still have fun playing TS3, so...yeah.
Anyway, I have all the TS3 EPs, and I kind of consider all of them essential because they all add bits (or large chunks!) of gameplay that I like. I only have one of the stuff packs – High End Loft Stuff or something? – because the base game I bought had that bundled with it. I have also *ahem* acquired *ahem* all of the store worlds and the interesting-to-me store items. (Like the canning station and the gardening/greenhouse/farm stuff and the glass-blowing/jewelry-making and the bakery set and the OFB-like stuff and…Well, you get the idea. :) )
And I have many, many mods. I have more mods than anything else, when it comes to third-party content for the game. I have pretty much all of the NRAAS mods, some of which – like Master Controller, Error Trap, and Overwatch – are essential for keeping the game running smoothly, and some of which add fun stuff. Like Traveler, which makes it so that you can have Sims living in multiple worlds in a single save (sort of like a neighborhood + subhoods in TS2), and you can bounce between them. It’s probably my favorite mod of them all. Other non-NRAAS faves involve gardening/cooking, whole packs of new plants for growing new ingredients that are needed for new recipes for the game, including cuisines for different cultures. (Greek, Indian, Mexican, etc.) Still others add more abilities and interactions for children, toddlers, and babies.
And then there’s the “adult” mod, “Kinky World,” which adds realistic animated sex and various sorts of stuff for grown-ups. I have much of it disabled because I’m not interested in having things like rape and incest and bestiality in my game, but I’m OK with drug use and sex work and especially the customizable menstrual cycle that makes baby-making far more realistic, in addition to various services added to the hospital rabbithole (sterilization procedures for both sexes as well as some sex reassignment procedures), and…Well, I confess that the flashers amuse the hell out of me, specifically different Sims’s reactions to them. *laugh* The “Kinky World” mod certainly isn’t for everyone and it does throw errors and such and the admins on the NRAAS forum really poo-poo its shoddy coding, so you probably shouldn’t use it in a save that you really care about keeping around long-term, but if you’re into that sort of stuff and you’re just screwing around (pun intended :) ), it has some interesting features. I wish I could have the menstrual cycle from it all by itself because that’s mostly why I use it.
Overall, when it comes to TS3, I think you sort of have to find your bliss with it. Go into it with an open mind, explore the game unmodded for a while, try out various aspects of its gameplay, and then decide what you don’t like and look into how to fiddle with it with mods and CC and such. Like, I thought I’d hate the whole Story Progression thing – and I would hate it, in a TS2 context – but in TS3 I actually enjoy losing (some) control over my playables when I’m not playing them. It adds randomness, sort of like things like ACR does in TS2. That said, EA’s story progression sucks in various ways. Get NRAAS’s Story Progression. It’s huge and has a scary-looking learning curve but also has extensive documentation on the NRAAS site as to what everything does, and once you get used to it, it’s really cool. You can basically decide, on a very detailed level, which things you’re OK with the game deciding as opposed to you deciding, so you can get rid of the annoying things about EA’s progression while still keeping the general idea of it.
So…yeah. Play the game with an open mind, with a “I’m just testing” sort of mindset. Find out what you do and don’t like about it, on its own merits, and don’t just assume that the things you like in 3 will be the same as the things you like in 2 because they very well might not be. Then spend time exploring mods and CC (and prepare to be enraged by Adfly and such! :P ) to change how the game works and what it looks like and stuff like that.
I did a lot of experimenting over the course of various stabs at the game over the years, trying to find something to like. I quickly discovered that the “build-a-city-esque” way I generally play in TS2 was out because I hate building in TS3, but I also discovered that, like in TS2, I’ll get bored if I only play one household all the time. So, I do still like a rotational set-up. Happily, it is pretty simple, with NRAAS’s Story Progression’s “caste” system, to do rotational play in TS3. (There’s a “how to set this up” tutorial of sorts here.) This is what I found that I like best; I’m still in the process of fiddling with the Story Progression settings for non-active playable households, to determine what level of control over them I really want. (Turns out, it’s less control than I thought I’d want, but there are still some things that I don’t want to happen without my consent.) Anyway, the point I’m trying to make is to, at first, play some “throwaway” saves in the game that you just experiment with stuff, to find worlds you like (I highly recommend My Sim Realty’s worlds because they’re CC and store-content free as well as well-constructed – no lag – and attractive) and to find out what you like in terms of gameplay. For you, it might turn out that you like nothing…or you may find that you like a lot of things. And, yes, TS3 still runs well (when modded to fix some of its inherent flaws) on modern machines. I mean, EA still sells it, after all, so it kinda has to. :)
And finally, speaking of inherent flaws… I think TS3 is the proverbial red-haired stepchild of the franchise mostly because of two things:
One, while it has grand ideas – i.e., the fully open world – it’s just not executed well. For instance, there are many construction errors in the EA worlds that cause Sims to get stuck, and when a bunch of Sims are stuck but the game still tries to make them do things, it gums up the whole works, resulting in lag, lag, lag. There are fixed EA worlds out there, though, so if you try out the game and want to play an EA world, I highly recommend finding a fixed version, so you don’t get frustrated by the world’s EA-created issues. They’re all a bit screwy in this regard, but the worst offenders are Bridgeport from Late Night and Isla Paradiso from Island Paradise. Basically, EA tried to do it all and so did most of it half-assedly. The game pretty much requires fixed worlds (if you use the EA worlds) and the error-fixing NRAAS mods in order to run smoothly. IME, custom worlds tend to run better. Not always, because some creators are just better/more experienced than others, but generally speaking. It’s probably because world creators are crafting labors of love rather than operating under pressure and a strict time-deficient production schedule. :)
Two, people were like me: They wanted TS3 to be TS2, only better, but it's not that at all. It’s a completely different game in many respects, and it seems to me that many people just couldn’t accept that. I’ve never played TS4 (so I have no opinions about it, I’m afraid), but from what I’ve seen it seems a little more 2-like, and it’s more cartoon-like (whereas TS3 was going more for realism, the pudding-Sims aside) in a way that’s more reminiscent of a “Maxis-match” TS2 game. And it’s also not the resource hog that playing a huge world in TS3 can be. So, I can see why a lot of people play TS2 and TS4 but skip TS3. I always have a tendency to zig when everyone else zags, though, and I kinda really like TS3. Go figure. *shrug*

TS4 2020 Wishlist
I was tagged by @twistedsimblr 💙 Thanks darling!
The rules are simple! Just say what you’d like to see for The Sims 4
Free Update? - I’d like to see another base game world added, like they did with Newcrest. It feels like the worlds are getting smaller and smaller as each year passes, more and more of the worlds are becoming set dressing with maybe 4 lots of we’re lucky. I’d also love a baby update, so that the infants are more than just objects but that’s highly unlikely at this point.
Stuff Pack? - Much like I use to lament back in the TS3 days, I would really really love a SP that geared towards elderly Sims. There’s not enough for them to do, they just kind of hang around until they die and it’s sad. I’d love them to have some clothing and such that are geared directly towards them, maybe something sweet for them to do like read to the grandkids whilst rocking in a rocking chair.
Game Pack? - Werewolves! I want a game pack like Vampires but for werewolves, that is what I want most in this world. Just give me werewolves and I’ll be a happy girl, please and thank you. Other supernaturals would be cool too, fairies I wouldn’t mind making a comeback again as well, maybe properly fleshed out plantsims as well.
Expansion Pack? - I’m not sure about expansion packs, I feel like when they deviate from the usual we get shit like TS3’s Into The Future, which I think we can all agree was a pretty shitty EP to end The Sims 3 on. I would really like a Generation’s like EP, or maybe something else focusing on family game play. I know we have the Parenthood GP, but that really felt like a quick cash grab for after the Toddlers were released. I’d also like to see more vacation stuff, I know vacation EP’s are historically one of the most hated EP’s typically made. And we already have Grante Falls and Salvadorada, but I’d like another option. Maybe somewhere in Asia or Europe, less focused on ‘adventures’ and ‘roughing it’ and more about relaxing and kicking back.
The Sims 5? - Honestly? I don’t think there’s going to be another Sims game after four, this has a real finality feeling to it and has since it’s launch. I don’t think there actually is a Sims 5 in the works, I think it’s all rumour and misdirection on EA’s part because they don’t want to admit that they’re moving away from the Sims franchise. And if I’m wrong, if they really are working on a fifth Sims game, I think it’ll require such high computer specs that half of the Simmers out there will be locked out because they won’t be able to afford the 5,000 dollar gaming computer they’d need to run it.
I’m not sure who has and haven’t done this, so I’ll tag a few people but feel free to ignore this if you’ve already done it or just aren’t interested. @coliswonderland @celebi88 @nervoussimblr @pixlmonster @claudiasharon @chatterboxsims586 @sweettacoplumbob @chubbymunchkin @nougat-sims
