Jason Todd, but he's not around the batfamily very often, bc i can.
It's not unusual for Jason to just kind of be gone for anything bat-esque for a while. Sure he'll still be in Gotham doing some crime fighting, but just not make many appearances in Wayne Manor/the Batcave.
And it's not out of sheer spite, surprisingly enough. its bc after being a crime lord then quitting to be an anti-hero, he came to the realization that being Red Hood couldn't be the only thing he was using his life for. he would end up like Bruce, only using a civilian identity when he absolutely had to. But Jason Todd was legally dead, so he wouldn't ever have to be a civilian, but at the cost of losing himself to a vigilante identity. I don't believe Jason would want to take that risk.
So he makes a fake identity so he can live in a (shaky) routine as a civilian. He still goes by Jason, given its a common enough name. but he changes his last name to Devoss, as it has the same meaning as todd but is of Dutch decent rather than english, bc I'm the kind of nerd that still wants names to mean the same thing even it's not the point whatsoever, so Jason is too. Plus its better than most of the name changes DC has done.
Anyway. Jason's "routine". The only reason it could be considered a routine is bc he typically goes to the same places. he drops by the same coffee shop at least three times a week, frequents the same gym, and visits the library about once a week. he's in the bare minnimum of consistency & sticks to it.
Despite being given enough money from Bruce to count as a solid income, Jason still lives in walking distance of Crime Alley. the landlords there don't care who you are so long as you pay rent, bc who wants to live near Crime Alley? barely anyone. Later he gets a job, which actually cements his routine. he works as a chef in a chain restaurant, and he's so good at it, it's like hes being petty about it.
Actually, being petty is the most common thread most of the people who know Jason Devoss as an aquaintance have. He's petty about entitled customers who start screaming in at his regular coffee stop, if someone he tends to work out with has a cheating partner and the assholeperson has a hole in thier can of mace and their knife is suddenly dull(neccessities in Gotham), Jason has no clue how someone could manage that. Absolutely none.
Ok, back to Jason getting a job. So like I said earlier, Jason gets a job as a line cook, bc they really dont keep people from the job unless you're actively supposed to be in Arkham(exemptions can be made for blackgate). Which is why having a civilian identity is helpful, bc being both legally dead and spending some time as a mob boss probably wouldn't jive with any hiring manager ever. But he's able to make himself a normal part of the scenery, and makes the most effective closing shift, totally not be he has patrol that he's already late for. He begins to have to switch between taking orders and making food.
And this is how he ends up meeting Bernard, bc they have to work together to figure out what Tim would want. Jason realizes that this isn't some other kid named Tim he thinks "oh this is going to be rich." bc no one in the family has been to his work so far since he started working in the front of house, and he hasn't mentioned it to them.
So Tim walks in, and sees his bf, then he sees Jason, who just says "Oh, you must be Bernard's boyfriend. Nice to meet you." Smiling like he's never done anything remotely wrong in his whole life. Now Tim is questioning everything and can only repond with something akin to "Mhmm yup. Nice to meet you too." & is on edge for the rest of the date, bc his brother is being paid to watch his date, and will interrupt them for refills or other nonsense when he was beginning to forget Jason was there.
Bonus points if it's before Tim introduces Bernard to the family.
The batfamily knows where he is, and he knows they know. No one who has met Batman once can have him be unaware of their whole family tree, of course he knows where his son is. Jason will sometimes get visits, most often from Duke, be despite the fact that Crime Alley is mostly terrible, the sunset view is pretty dang good.
Duke will just be sitting on his couch when he gets home, like "you wanted to talk?" to which he and Jason will simply chat. and jason will often give critiques to Duke's technique.
The other common visitor is steph, but that's most ofting in the form of her ding dong ditching him,

*in a whisper* Brennan. Brennan please. I know you have a lot to do. But please. Stop playing Zelda like an NPC. Let her do cool shit like the PCs she's supposedly on equal footing with. Brennan, she didn't even rage until the last round of battle. And only then to give Penny sneak attack. She didn't even action surge. You had her take two levels of fighter so she could ride a horse into an ice cave to give info to the PCs? Let her kill things. I know she's very good at it.

like I'm serious, maybe I'm just misinterpreting twitter discourse(tm) or I'm getting mad about an issue that doesn't exist. or maybe I'm wrong! idk. but I see it everywhere and I see it more and more. 'talking to friends is forcing them to do emotional labor' 'don't ask for help hire a professional' 'don't ask friends to help you move out as an adult' do people act like this in real life. I hate it here

have been thinking for some time about starting a calendiles discord server of some sort (esp with the internet crashing and burning in every direction) but quite frankly i do not have any tolerance for idiocy OR the experience that is required to moderate a server fairly. mostly it's the first thing though.

people complain about magpies being the only birds in their yards and whatever and im just like can’t relate, the flickers love me because i leave the anthills in my yard. and people will really blame magpies (scavengers who occasionally bully or kill) for other dead birds and not like. cats (hunt for sport). what ?
anyway putting more peanuts out for the baby pies and leaving all the pine cones in a heap for the finches because lawn culture sucks muahahahaha

I really like The Forest, I love Minecraft and modding it, I’m interested in Stardew Valley. I also like Don’t Starve but it’s not my favorite.
Any recs for open world ish survival craft but with magic on PC?
Skyrim and/or Dragon Age would be perfect if there was intricate base building and farming involved.

decriminalize:
sex work
addiction
criminalize:
golf
#decriminalize addiction PLEASE! theres like a billion studies on this and as it turns out criminalizing addiction does not get rid of it#the same thing with sex work. both of these will still invariably be around if the solution to them is just arrest people who engage with i#the decriminalization of addiction and sw must necessarily be accompanied with the expansion of universal/public healthcare and other#social welfare programs (including UBI)#i strongly believe that the roots of nearly all problems in the united states is the general absence or underfunding#of welfare programs; as well as the influences of corporations and dark money in government and legislation; both of these removed#absolutely will improve the usa in every way#the us needs to become a social democracy!#and dont even worry about the costs; the usa has enough money to fund these huge projects. especially if the government pulls out#funding from other areas such as from police departments and the military; and furthermore these projects can potenially pay for themselves#by uplifting millions of people who (now no longer severely impoverished; or homeless; or without adequate healthcare; etc.) can now provid#for society which pays for these projects and creates a virtuous cycle! government services can help everyone and everyone can help service#and the golf stuff needs to go! golf is a blight on this green earth; as are lawns (which golf-fields are a type of)#and (continuous) monocultural farms; all have terrible environmental effects#lawns use SOOOO much water just for maintenance; this water could be used for other things like DRINKING (which is#necessary to live)#and lawns are huge areas consisting of just one species of plant; while other species of plants are intentionally removed#from these fields for maintenance; and as it turns out! large patches of uninterrupted stretches of one single species of grass really hurt#the environment by literally taking space for other plants away and reducing biodiversity; these fields of only one plant act as deserts#lawns dont even have a real purpose! they provide nothing for the rest of society! at least monoculture farms give us food!#lawns just sit there looking ugly as hell and stealing our water and killing our environment for literally no reason!!!!!!!!#i unironically propose a georgist solution to golf and lawn: a progressive tax on the size (by square area) of fields; and criminalize#fields exceeding a certain threshold of size; and lifting certain regulations on the maintenance of personally owned lawns#or like just kill golf and lawns entirely#ok#rant#reblog

My dad was looking sideways at a hot young goth girl at this apple orchard, in platforms and black tights, trying to get me to laugh with him at her choice of clothing, and meanwhile he's in a patterned fleece and sweatpants so I'm not sure he really had any ground to stand on.

Ok I kind of am glad to have given this Isobu arc a chance. I'm not entirely sold on the Guren and Yuukimaru stuff, but I'm getting to see a lot more of the minor characters I don't usually see. INCLUDING so many female characters!!!!! Started off with Hinata, then Sakura, and now Ino, Shizune, AND Tenten are all here!!! Five female characters active in one arc!!! Practically unheard of for Naruto!!!! Plus Guren makes 6 I guess, though I don't really like how they're like "here's a Ruthless Woman who thinks of nothing except becoming one with Orochimaru!!!! ...except now here's a child, and after just a few days her Motherly Instincts are thawing her heart!!!!!! She's not so ruthless after all!!!!" Like I mean it's sweet, but also it sucks that they're doing this with one of the few female villains. Like why are most of the women reduced to mothers and girlfriends??? In the end, basically all of them get this fate. Or they die. Come on can't we have a woman that just sucks??? Smh.
#speculation nation#fanny watches naruto#i guess in the last filler arc we did have those two female antagonists. except i didnt like them either.#anyways overall i do like this filler arc better. feels like it has actual stakes and plot relevance#plus being able to see more of characters we dont see in action very much.#PLUS. it's not Yet Another widespread attack on konoha.#i swear if they want the konoha attacks to have more weight they cant just be throwing that shit at us in a FILLER arc!!!!!#the chuunin exams attack was a Big Deal!!! the Pein attack even more so!!!!!!#and you want me to believe these 4 bozos just come up and nearly destroy the hidden leaf??? come on.#their attacks are WAAAAY too powerful. like how come that one guy can just revive hundreds of killed shinobi???#earth jutsu??? what????? since when has a fucking earth jutsu done that?????#plus the 4 revived shinobi who are just like haha we just happen to have this ability where we demolish an entire city between us#with lightning???? why do they have that??? did the guardian shinobi twelve go scorched earth That Much???#and that's not even getting into how little Sora's kyuubi shit makes sense. like. what??? just from chakra?? no way.#at least here Yuukimaru's just got a weird connection. hinted at being related to the sanbi's jinchuuriki#so maybe we r just fucking around in a lake for who knows how long. just because.#but at least Isobu is just. here. hes just like 'who the fuck are all you? get out of my lawn'#and yet theres now 12 konoha shinobi and 7 orochimaru pawns Plus one more kid#just fucking around on the shore. what are they doing?? who knows!!! let's break a kid's mind for it!!!!!#Yuukimaru is still kind of creepy but come on man he's just a kid. fuck U kabuto i hate ur ass. get bent.#anyways yeah what an arc. at least it's entertaining.

I'm not judging anyone, but I think people might be tiniest bit hypocritical when they treat Asian people like they're monsters for eating dog, meanwhile they had bacon for breakfast. I absolutely could never eat dog, and im not going to judge others for eating pig, but pretty much every argument you could give for not eating dogs could apply to pigs

You used to support a "before URL [parameter]" as you called it in the same way you do on the dashboard. The actual dashboard, not the weird "following" thing you renamed it as a couple of years ago.
What a truly weird thing to write! Why deny what was a basic feature of your website for 12+ years?
And more importantly, what advantage does it give your site really to turn the tags into a shittier version of infinite scroll? Being able to go back years and years into an archive was one of the unique features of tumblr compared to any other social media and allowed for posts to live on for years. Now they only live on if you happen to find the blog that originally posted something or it happened to get popular at the time.
Hello there. I remember when we could find the oldest posts in a specific tag using the url https://www.tumblr.com/tagged/thetagiwanttosearch?before=timestamp. Today, when browsing a tag, the url shows ?page=number. Unfortunately, entering the url with a specific page number only redirects to the first posts in the tag. Is there a way to (1) reach a specific date in a tag other than browsing manually until I get to that date? (2) browse forward from the oldest posts in a tag? (3) and most importantly pick up where I left off if my browsing session is interrupted?
Answer: Hi, @somewhatavidreader!
We do not support a “before” URL param on tagged pages, though we do in some other places, like the “Following” dashboard. This is possibly what you are remembering.
But now for some good news—we are in the process of adding better ways of filtering search results. We recently added a “year” and a “date” operator, that lets you target a specific year and even date! You can try this out by typing #cats date:2023-10-31 into the search box to get results for a tag or search term filtered to a particular day.
We hope this helps! Thanks for your question, and keep 'em coming, folks.
