Mientras la hembras eligen adornarse con lentejuelas, los machos cubren su cabeza con azul turquesa. by cirestrepo This lovely White-necked Jacobin, exhibits various color tones, being the aquamarine the one I like the most. While females prefer to dress up with fantastic sequins, the boys choose to cover their head completely with a turquoise blue.

It rained all day today and the birds at Asa Wright Nature Centre loved it. They pranced and sang at the top of their lungs. They flew past my ears with mind boggling speed and I heard Oshun's laughter in their wings. #hummingbird #kairi #trinidad #whiteneckedjacobin #purplehoneycreeper

WHITE-NECKED JACOBIN Male Florisuga mellivora Drinking Nectar of Porotón Flowers in Mindo, ECUADOR. Hummingbird Photo by Peter Wendelken. by Neotropical Pete WHITE-NECKED JACOBIN male Florisuga mellivora. This male White-necked Jacobin is drinking nectar from the orange, cup-like flowers of the leguminous tree Erythrina megistophylla Diels, family Fabaceae, along the Vía Cunuco, about two miles north of Mindo, in northwestern Ecuador at 8:56 AM on August 19, 2018. Erythrina megistophylla is ENDEMIC to Ecuador and has flowers adapted to pollination by passerine (perching) birds. We have observed a variety of passerine birds, as well as a number of hummingbird species, drinking nectar from these flowers. One of the common names of this plant is Porotón. The White-necked Jacobin is a member of the hummingbird family Trochilidae. It is found from southern Mexico through Central America to northern Bolivia and Amazonian Brazil in South America. It can also be found in Trinidad and Tobago. In Brazil, Florisuga mellivora has the common name Beija-flor-azul-de-rabo-branco. No Flash - I never use flash! The incredibly beautiful White-Necked Jacobin Hummingbird left me speechless as i first caught sight of my first one recently in Ecuador! Our amazing planets biodiversity never ceases to amaze me! Nature most definitely has the very best Art and this insanely colorful creature is definitely proof! Lets all work hard at stopping the 6th mass extinction which will be caused by man, if we don't correct the actions of our past! Save this amazing planet wildlife as well as ourselves! @jim_abernethy #hummingbird #whiteneckedjacobin #birds #birdsinflight #beautiful #epic (at Las Terrazas de Dana Lodge)
