i realize how niche this complaint is but i think my biggest current issue with pokemon right now is that it's just not worth it to transfer pokemon from gen 7 and below to home but also. the ds pokemon games are neglected to the point where they're actively harmful to players. Like back when ultra sun and moon were the new games I tended to spend a lot of post game time breeding pokemon because those mechanics are fun to play with and if you get serious about it a ton of post game stuff can still be fun as opposed to like. Just the battle tree. But anyway, one of my goals was getting every starter from every region with their HA. And I made it a decent amount of the way too. But anyway, when pokemon breeding you tend to end up with boxes of duplicate pokemon. Which back then wasn't a problem. You could just wonder trade them all away or in some cases use the GTS to get specific pokemon you wanted. And of course you weren't the only pokemon breeder in the world so you'd get their rejects which either were helpful for you or you could just wonder trade again. But now. Opening up the GTS crashes your game without even being able to trade due to the amount of hacked pokemon there and wonder trade is risky due to the chance of being traded bad eggs (eggs that will never hatch and just take up space in your PC). And I could move them all to home to use that GTS and that wonder trade, but A. That costs money that I don't think is worth it to spend B. Then what? Lets say I wonder trade and get one of the HA starters I want. Most starters aren't in Gen 8 or 9 so there's no point to setting up breeding in those games and I can't send it back to gen 7, so it just ends up sitting in home which what's the point then? So it ends up being that I somehow have to get them all myself which in some cases is just flat out impossible so there's just no point and the games become just old pokemon storage.
#pokemon#i get that like these issues are because it's a 7 year old game and it's more profitable to cater to new fans than to old ones but still#i think my issues with home go a bit deeper in just that. there's nothing to *do* with majority of pokemon you put in home. it's practicall#y a glorified trophy case#and for the pokemon you can transfer to gen 8 and gen 9 you will probably have to get rid of moves and even if you didn't either A. you're#splitting them up from the pokemon they've been with almost all their lifes and B. for what purpose?#i feel like by the time you can transfer old pokemon from home to gen 8 or 9 you've probably already beaten the game#so then it just ends up being another permanent storage box for them#i get that problem has almost always been the case but like at least in the past you didn't have to split up the party you beat pokemon#white with when you were 9#channel 3

I need everyone who got back into Doctor Who because of the new specials with Tennant back who dropped out midway through Capaldi's run to PLEASE go back and watch series 10 it's legit one of the most consistently good series of new who. I have a LOT of problems with Moffat as a writer but he actually managed to deliver a well-paced season of television for the first time in his damned life. Capaldi is at his best in S10 (no longer being forced through his dumb midlife crisis plotline) and Bill is great and it finally justifies Missy and turns her into one of the most developed Master incarnations we've seen. The finale especially is a really standout story and one of my favorites in the entire show.

#so I have officially been to a club/bar now#tag talk#it was a country bar which was actually cool cause they played like. actual old country none of the post-9/11 shit#except everything else about it was ugh awful. music too loud drinks FUCKING EXPENSIVE holy shit stay home and drink instead pleaseeee#it was a work thing but none of my coworkers I'm friends with actually knew what they were doing so while I wasn't actual awkward they were#and the thing about social interaction is that if no one knows what they're doing it's not very fun#I grabbed someone and started a pool game because the table was open and both of us were absolute garbage at the game#but I was laughing about it and they were like... apologetic about being bad?? d#I did have the classic experience though where your friends disappear and you end up alone because you don't know where they went#all in all an interesting experience but not one I'm eager to repeat.#I did get invited to someone's Christmas Eve Party though which is cool and they gave me their number to make sure I have the info#so probably worth going just for that I think. got their phone number so we can communicate so that's like. successful social connection.#we're already friendly at work but easier to talk to someone when you're both not busy on the opposite side of the store with customers#anyway. who tf out going to clubs. awful environment.#I was like.. twenty percent of the way to being comfortable going out and dancing but hard to just swallow your hesitation#and a) alcohol as liquid courage is hmm not ideal and b) it was expensive anyway#oh well. it'll take more time to come out of my shell and I'd literally never been to a bar/club before in my life.#so I'll have some patience with myself and not be annoyed with how I could have done better or been more confident.#literally totally new environment. also... country music was nice but not a group of people I could really be comfortable around yaknow?#Lotta old white straight couples dancing the country two-step so I didn't really feel like I fit in.#anyway. interesting experience. neat to have. if I ever have a reason to go to a bar again I'll know more about what to expect#also... no one carded me. no one asked for ID? aren't they supposed to#oh wait. comment about the yodeling cause it was actual old country but they didn't do the voice register changes for it#I was like WAIT ARE THEY GONNA YODEL FOR REAL??? but then he didn't he just jumped intervals without shifting voice.#was a little disappointing but maybe a lot to expect from a random stage show at a bar.#wait wait I'm also proud of myself because the bartender asked open or closed and my mind scrambled for half a second to figure it out#but then I realized it meant open tab or closed tab like ordering more drinks and then paying at the end and so obviously closed#cause I ain't buying more than the one drink holy fuck it was so expensive also they mix them way stronger than I like#I like my drink weak ass and pathetic. alcohol is like spice I like a little to taste but not a lot. complimentary not overpowering#I drank it and then remembered I never ate lunch so I was like fuck and immediately went and ate something (work party so free food)

My alarms were ringing while watching *that* Amy Cuddy video during a class today and I gotta say I might be fully right thinking that. Quick searches show she was taking a stance with someone claiming being trans is harmful (not surprising when a chunk of the talk is saying that Testosterone makes you aggressive/more forward, a major talking point people try to use against trans women and poc and also calling it the dominant hormone) and also someone mimicked her experiment with a lot more people and it seems that power poses didn't do anything. It also seemed like she was trying to evoke some inspiration porn (while talking about IQ, another thing I'm always wary about) and made no mention of what helped her get through college and saying it was just power poses. Did you get help going through college??? You're still a white cishet woman like. I can 100% seeing you having no problems paying for school and not having to work during that education. People doing these kinds of things recognize that privilege exists please.

At one point theyre up at the front with me, the woman speaks english but her husband does not. A girl next to them in line asked if they were polish and spoke a teeny bit of polish to them. Her grandmother was from poland. She said she only knew like a few sentences in polish, and they were like ah! yeah! cool :) and i said Omg thats neat! My lineage is polish lithuanian! Small world! And the polish lady goes, oh do you know what polish town youre from? And i said No, my family emigrated to lithuania after poland and I know more about their lives in lithuania than I do about their lives in poland. And she goes mmmmm yeahhhhhh a lot of people say they have polish ancestors but when it really comes down to it they dont actually know what town and theyre not actually polish. BITCH...
