Contemporary Folk Art Carved Bear, Dated 1997

As usual, I am a sucker for sweet little animal faces. This guy in particular is so charming to me on account of its LONG neck. Based on the markings, we know this was sold or made in 1997, February 14th and presumably originated in the Greenbrier / Greenbrier River area of West Virginia. I am guessing that it was made for or sold by the Greenbrier Hotel. The carving of "BSC" at the back of its base I am also deducing is either the artists signature, or comes from the Bluefield State College nearby (or some other explanation, I am only speculating with the information I have).
