"Hey, Parsleystar!" Tempestroar called. The leader lifted her head and locked her eyes on the loner Tempestroar had brought into the camp. "This is Teacup, she wants to join!"

Parsleystar stood and padded over. The loner eyed her nervously, the tip of her tail twitching.

"Why?" Parsleystar leveled her gaze at Teacup, her tone firm. The loner seemed strong, and not quite young, but young enough. Having her join would mean another mouth to feed, true, which wouldn't be optimal after such a rough few moons, but it also meant another hunter.

"I'm... alone," Teacup confessed. She looked down and folded her ears flat. "I don't like it. I had a big family before the fire, but they all... Anyways, I heard that there's a larger group of cats out here. I can hunt, and I can watch your kits, and I can teach your young ones. I won't ask for anything, and I'll eat last if you ask me to. I just... I need company. I don't know how to be alone."

Parsleystar's heart ached at the words, and she glanced at Tempestroar, who looked somewhat horrified. The leader let out a long sigh.

"Alright. But if you're going to join us, you'll need a name like us." Teacup brightened, hope in her eyes. "How do you feel about the name Shadowbloom?"

"Eagle!"

Stormclaw jerked his head up towards the sky, his eyes widening as he saw the great bird circling the camp. ButterflyClan scattered, but with the world as burnt as it was, there weren't many places to hide.

The bird dove, claws outstretched, reaching for-

"Whiskerpaw!" Stormclaw screeched, and he knocked the tiny apprentice aside. Pain nearly whited out his vision as the eagle dug its claws into his side, and his paws scrabbled at the ground in a desperate attempt to keep the bird from dragging him into the sky.

The bird evidently grew tired of his squirming and decided he was too difficult a meal, and he gasped as he suddenly dropped. Stormclaw hit the ground hard and howled in pain as he felt something in his leg snap. His vision was blurry and his ears were ringing, and he knew that Pondfang was beside him and had no idea what to do.

Oh, stars, I'm doomed, was the only thing Stormclaw could think.

Thornbush and whiskerwish

Thornbush:

thornbush is the oldest medicine cat of the clans. He is wise, calm and gentle. He's not one to get into clan politics. He just does his job and minds his own business. In his older age, he is more lazy and slow. He has been starting to forget things however... leading to arguments between he and his apprentice.

Whiskerwish:

Whiskerwish is a busy she-cat with very soft, clean fluffy fur. She, unlike her older mentor, is always working. When a new disease swept through the territory, effecting mostly forestclan and meadowclan, she and dockstream worked tirelessly to try and find a cure. When seemingly all hope was lost, whiskerwish got a message from starclan about a mushroom that could cure the disease. Whiskerwish sometimes has that 'im better than you' kind of act however she doesn't always mean this.

Whiskerpaw, Brushpaw and Icypaw became apprentices! Their mentors are Browndapple, Scratchpoppy and Cicadathud. Blossom watches his kits proudly from the Unknown Meadows.

Amberquiver overworked himself, getting sore and a heatstroke. Firefly also got a heat stroke, but seems determined to take care of other's before herself.

Ceremonies

Runningleaf can hardly believe how quickly time has passed since Whiskerpaw was a kit. It still feels like yesterday they were tumbling around the nursery, though after their broken back, it has taken them time to heal and is 18 moons. That doesn't matter to Runningleaf though, as misty-eyed with pride and joy, Runningleaf throws their head back and tries to cheer the loudest as Whiskerpaw is named Whiskerburr and honored for their appreciation

Jadekick gives Dazzlepaw a friendly nudge when the leader calls the young cat's name. They watch with pride as Dazzlepaw steps forward to receive their new name, Dazzleswipe, and are honored for their risk-taking

Dogpaw stands tall and puffs out their chest as Cinderstar announces they are ready for their warrior name. They are given the name Dogshock after their decisiveness

Gorgepaw looks around at their Clanmates with adoration while Cinderstar announces that their new name will be Gorgesight after their ambition. Gorgesight is happy to be a warrior now, but mostly just want to celebrate with their Clan, whether it's for them or not

Teaselpaw has decided that hunting and fighting is not the way they want to provide for their Clan. Instead, they have chosen to serve their Clan by healing and communing with StarClan. Pebbletree proudly becomes their mentor. This is allowed as Popreed is 134 moons and retires to the elder's den

Almost immediately after Icepaw touches noses with Shiningfrost, they start asking about when they're going to go out and explore the territory

The SplinterClan medicine cat asks for burdock and we provide Cinderstar got heat exhaustion Snipgorse's bruises healed Gravelmimic accidentally crossed the border on patrol and got their ear torn by an enemy warrior Fleckflit's broken bone healed Hemlockroar got fleas Pebbletree's runing nose stopped Frostytalon's bruises healed Mintyrise got heat exhaustion Icepaw took a tumble off a rock while practicing battle moves. They'll be a bit tender for the next few days

Patrols

It is almost dawn when the deputy rouses Icepaw for an assesment: find Shiningfrost wandering the territory and attack them as if they were an enemy warrior. Icepaw is jumping in the shadows. Everything around them seems like a predator waiting to pounce. Where could Shiningfrost be hiding? They wish that Shiningfrost would hurry up and come out. Wait, is that . . .? Icepaw charges towards the bulky shape of another cat in the dark. However, this is not Shiningfrost. The smell of a foreign cat washes over Icepaw.

Icepaw died

Sleek is tempted to eat the prey they just caught. After all, the patrol has caught enough on this hunt that they'll have trouble carrying it all back to camp. They stop for a quick snack and return to camp laden with prey for the fresh-kill pile

The patrol hears desperate screams from a nearby lake. They attempt to help the old kittypet from their cruel twoleg. Unfortunately Hollowminnow was just a tad too slow and got kicked quite hard against a tree. Gravelmimic order the patrol to protect and carry hollowminnow while they retreat, with pain in their heart for the cat they couldn't save

Hmm. The LionClan scent marks on this area of the border seem a little more faint that usual. Opportunity or trap - it's possible to succeed if it's either, or both. Drizzleivy charges across the border, straight into LionClan territory and past the patrol lying in wait to ambush them, hurling past the trap, making a long loop to get back to their own border. That'll show those mangy LionClan foxpelts! Drizzleicy receives a code strike for his actions

Dogshock finds a wounded cat near the Thunderpath and rushes them back to camp

"From here on forth, you shall be known as Whiskerpaw. Your mentor will be Tempestroar, and I know that she'll teach you everything she knows."

Whiskerpaw surged forward and touched her nose to Tempestroar's eagerly. The black and white she-cat looked surprised and delighted, and Whiskerpaw wriggled excitedly.

"We have to go hunting first," Whiskerpaw announced as soon as the gathered Clan had moved away. Tempestroar laughed.

"You'll have to learn hunting techniques before you can catch anything," she pointed out. Whiskerpaw felt a spark of disappointment, but shoved it aside. She's an apprentice now; she'll be hunting in no time!

Pondfang peered closely at Algae's wound before shrugging.

"Looks fine to me," he announced. "It's scabbed over and isn't oozing puss, so it's probably not infected."

"Probably?" Algae's face twisted. "It's probably not infected?" Pondfang shrugged again.

"I have no medical training, so it could be. I don't think so, though." Algae did not seem reassured by this. In fact, she seemed even less confident in him now. That was probably a good choice on her end, Pondfang thought. She had good sense, that one.
