mob warriors au redesigns and such, some i barely changed and others i pretty much started from scratch lol

full canvas and explanations under the cut, theres a bunch of other characters and stuff i didnt manage to fit or didnt have the energy to draw that ill probably get around to in the coming future

so by virtue of mob psycho kind of acting as a parody of a shonen in a lot of its characters and usage of tropes i felt like it was fitting that a warriors au sort of act as a parody of warriors.

basically, pretty much every major character is either a house cat of some sort, but they all see clan cats as these sort of cool aspirational things so they give themselves warrior names and know of general clan concepts (though, since the nearby clan left a long time ago due to twoleg construction on their territory, these concepts have sort of become distorted over time. istg i came up with this before warriorclan me and erin hunter just have some odd psychic link)

saltsplash (reigen) is a declawed kittypet who loves the taste of freshkill, so he has taken on the persona of a former medicine cat who came from far away on some sort of spiritual quest to help the cats in this area (in reality his owners just moved here) in order to get cats to catch prey for him in exchange for advice. flockpaw (mob) comes to him for advice, since he can see spirits and keeps getting dreams from starclan, and saltsplash agrees to take him as an apprentice

there is a pretty significant ghost problem in the area, the destruction of the moonstone equivalent (this isnt the setting of og warriors because i find switching what region/biome theyre in to be kind of part of the fun to making warriors aus so this is still japan. cats can now encounter monkeys.) has left a lot of souls trapped in the physical plane and unable to pass on. dimple (still going back and forth on his name) is one of these cats, he was a clan cat but so long ago that he's forgotten his original life and only remembers the goal of "bring back the clans with yourself as leader", which he initially tries to posses random cats to do before meeting flockpaw and settling on him as a good potential clan leader

the actual clans, meanwhile, have gone way downhill since they moved away. their numbers were dwindling pretty badly when hawkstar (toichiro) took over his clan, renamed it clawclan, conquered the other clans in the area and marked all his dissenters with scars, and has forged forward with the goal of reconquering their old territory in the twolegplace in the hopes that it will bring the clans back to their glory days. a lot of the more sensible cats, including his mate, have left the clan, so he's resorted to recruiting outsiders as well as kidnapping young cats with warrior potential in order to fill out their numbers

other stuff i dont want to write entire paragraphs for

-teru was someones outdoor cat but his owners moved :( he named himself starpaw and everyone who knows shit about the clans tries to tell him hes not allowed to do that but are too scared to argue further with him about it because he gets really pissed when you point it out

-the telepathy clubs goal is to meet lions, which everyone thinks arent real

-the awakening lab is mitsuura (curlystar maybe?)'s attempt to start his own clan

-the student council is a gang of young kittypets who have tasked themselves with enforcing "the warrior code" among the delinquents (rivals gangs of young alley cats). all the older cats see this as a game theyre playing and dont take it seriously

-flashpaw (mezato) was part of dimple's initial play to brainwash a bunch of cats into reforming a clan and worshiping "starclan" (him) and those group of cats have shifted to seeing flockpaw as starclans prophet, so she's trying to convince HIM to start a new clan

-rainshade (serizawa) was initially a kittypet who always hid in his cat carrier out of his fear of his starclan given powers, hawkstar found him on one of his recruiting missions because his mother was worried for him and was asking around for someone with experience with starclan

-mogami (crowflight maybe? maggotsomething?) was an actual former warrior who went to twolegplace to get help for his sick mother after starclan said there was nothing that could be done for her. kittypets offered to get her help in exchange for him helping them with spirit problems and got their owners to bring her to the cutter (vet) and when they did the vets put her down so he started killing cats about it seeing them all as selfish thugs beyond redemption before his own death and transformation into a vengeful spirit

-minori (still thinking of a name bc i dont have her design down) is someones very haughty purebred show cat who gets hella possessed.

-didnt anyone ever teach you feeding downed fledglings was bad manners?

-SunClan (the rising sun union) are a gang of random housecats, some of whom have actual StarClan connections and others are just opportunistic liars, who use extremely predatory means to help cats with their ghost problems (asking for a specific share of a cat's meals permanently rather than saltsplash's ask of like. one fresh songbird)

thats all the stuff i can think of off the top of my head but if you ask questions i can probably answer them bc ive been thinking about this since like. march 2022.

TULPARCLAN LORE POST!!!!!

Leader: Curlystar (Curly)

Deputy: Adderheart (Jimmy)

Medicine Cat: Birchfearher (Anya)

Warriors: Sawnsea (Swansea) (it’s a valid warrior name)

Apprentices: Hibiscuspaw (Daisuke)

Curlystar, Adderheart, Birchfearher, Swansea, and Hibiscuspaw are on a long journey fo another clan. During the journey, Adderheart gets jealous of Curlystar. The crew starts struggling, as they are in unfamiliar territory and struggling to hunt / gain resources. They set up a temporary camp for the time being.

Adderheart, jealous of Curlystar and convinced they’re done for anyways, starts a fire that collapses the massive old tree blocking off their faux camp, trapping them. Curlystar used his own body to but out the fire, but was so badly injured he can no longer move or talk. Adderheart uses this to his advantage, claiming that Curlystar started the fire, as well as declaring himself the leader (he calls himself Adderstar and calls Curlystar Curlypelt from this point forward, though i’m keeping the names consistent.

Moons pass by, and food is getting scarce. The only thing they can find around the clearing they’re stuck in is poppy seeds, which Swansea has started eating every chance he can get.

When Birchfearher blocks off the faux medicine den, Adderheart convinces Hibiscuspaw to try and fit through the trees that block her and Curlystar off from the rest of camp. He manages to get through, only to find Birchfearher had eaten deathberries. While getting into her den, he is gravely injured. As Adderheart tries to keep him alive, Swansea kills him out of mercy. Adderheart and Swansea get into a fight after this, which ends with Adderheart killing Swansea.

That’s about it! It’s really just a “what if they were warrior cats lol” au, but it’s my FAVORITE thing rn.

Minkthroat - Nheemleh

i couldn't find something for throat on the lexicon so I went for tongue because I though that fit as well.

Boragenut - Couldn't find one for borage, but nekboq worked for nut, so maybe uhssa for bush might have the same effect - so uhssanekboq for her

Voidpatch - not sure what to do with him, so I went for Hhoelkonpen

Curlystar - Fofwarrlshai

Owlspeckle - Huowoowoo (i love this one so much)

Asternettle - Luoobpokal (I couldn't find a translation for Aster, so I chose Luoob because I like both the names)

Briarears - Pik'kaira

Ramblingpatch - Abababkonpen

Fallenheart - Fewlbabi

Huowoowoo takes the cake, I also gotta shout out Pik'kaira. That one's also fun to say! Pik'ka Ira!

Let's get you some new words-- and start with ASTER, because it's going to be a bit quirky! Old World Asters (of the genus aster) have issues growing this far north.

But they do have a ton of plants in the asteraceae family. IN FACT, dandelions are one of them! Feverfew, chamomile, thistles, daisies, salsify, cornflower, heliotrope, goldenrod... it's a BIG family.

Asters

So, here's a few interesting asteraceae that would make cool symbolic names, and you can translate any of these as simply "aster" in a name. Clan cats don't have cladistics after all, lmao

Common Fleabane (Pulicaria dysenterica) = Skfom (From Itch + Again = Contraction.) In humans, you can see right there in the scientific name that it was historically used as a treatment for dysentery, and in the common name that it repels fleas. In cats, it's a skin irritant and a poison. A desperate cat in the midst of a flea infestation will resort to this to treat themselves, if the Cleric's overwhelmed. Its name is a comment on its cruelty-- it will relieve you temporarily, but you'll get a second itch later. Has another English name; Erigeron, which is applied to all fleabanes.

Ragwort (Jacobaea vulgaris) = Bochol OR Ffyy-en-aminama (Pigment + Green) OR (Butterfly + 's + Shanty) An easy source of green dye, but not the BEST source of it due to fading. Known by two names, Clerics tend to prefer Butterfly's Shanty because it evokes an image of the sacred insects dancing around it. Bochol is actually the newer term, appearing sometime in the late Dawn Era alongside advances in dyemaking technology before SkyClan was driven out. Toxic if eaten, HATED by humans for being an agricultural weed, Clan cats value this plant greatly. It feeds many insects, which then feed other animals, which then feed Clan cats. It's also bright yellow and cheerful.

Sea Aster (Tripolium pannonicum) = Osaash (Daisy + Salt) This plant is seen exclusively in salt marsh biomes! Seaside areas that are regularly flooded by saltwater. They're one of the most notable plants encountered by Salt Patrols, and one of the few flowers that can handle salinity. They have a reputation for being hardy, and being a sure sign that you've made it to the ocean.

Throat and Void

Throat's going to be straightforward!

Throat = Au'u Translates directly. The front of the neck.

But void... it doesn't really make sense they have a philosophical concept of the void, you know? They don't even seem to have a concept of zero. So here's some possibilities;

Nothing = Shmo Translates pretty directly. Nothing at all. Absence in general.

No Detectable Smell = Mufm A "smell" often associated with certain things that have crossed through water, or certain mythological figures. Most things have a smell, even if it's faint. Probably the closest metaphorically to "void," because a thing without a smell creates a noticeable absence. There's probably an (ANCIENT) TigerClan folktale about some tiger warrior sent to catch the Void Beast of No Smell, which serves as a kitten tale to help remember non-scent types of tracking methods.

Silence = Uh'hwa The absence of sound or words. Not to be confused with Hah'o, which is a SUDDEN, ominous silencing of all the animal song in an area, usually because they've spotted a predator.

oooh clangen stories... I have a few but I think the one that sticks out in my mind the most is what happened to my clan, MapleClan. the whole thing was a complete shitshow of a clan, and unfortunately I don't have the save anymore but I do have discord messages of me liveblogging the whole thing to my friends

I think it started when one of the warriors, Barksky, died. he was found as an abandoned kit and died of greencough at the ripe old age of 16 moons ✌️ and then it was just downhill from there

after that my cats started dropping like flies; the moon after Barksky died, two more cats (including the deputy) died, and the leader chose to replace them with. the old deputy. who I demoted because everyone hated her. but at this point I was too invested in what was going on so I just let it happen

one of the cats, Houndspeck, announces she's having kits! great! surprising considering how old she is, but appreciated nonetheless. and then the next moon rolls around and she thinks she'll have. one kit. in that same moon, two warriors died. so now the allegiances look like this.

so now my clan consists of this kit (Fuzzykit ❤️), two guys who hate each others guts, and a bunch of old women. and in the same moon Fuzzykit becomes Fuzzypaw, Houndspeck dies. freshly orphaned and off to school! things are stable for a bit at 7 cats, and then Bogrump brings in an abandoned kit named Palekit. things are starting to look up, Finally

the only two guys in the clan, Juniperstreak & Squirrelfur, have a mutual hatred for each other. and I don't think I can even call it hate, that feels like too light of a word. both of their "dislike/hate" bars were almost maxed out. and yet they had the tiniest sliver of romantic like, for some reason

and then Curlystar loses 2 lives in a row, alongside Crouchpatch and Palepaw being killed by a gang of rogues. 6 cats now! the only young cat left in the clan is Fuzzyleaf. Curlystar loses ANOTHER 2 lives, leaving her with 1 life remaining

allegiances are looking something like this now. Squirrelfur & Juniperstreak in their love-hate relationship, Fuzzyleaf the only warrior, and the remainders of my crew of old women

so. then Curlystar loses her last life to OspreyClan. and now we're at war with them! with 5 cats left, 2 of which are elders! Blacktail goes missing and turns up dead, and then Bogrump & Juniperstreak die of greencough

this leaves the leader, Squirrelstar, and his deputy Fuzzyleaf. the war finally ends, after 30 moons, and Fuzzyleaf brings in a litter of 2 kits (Jetkit & Brookkit). MapleClan's story doesn't end there, but that's the end of the Bad Times™

I still haven't stopped thinking about Squirrelstar & Junipterstreak though.... mutual hate that lessened a little bit towards the end, but they still admired and relied on each other.... augh. toxic yaoi ❤️

I am So sorry about this essay, the saga of MapleClan was. much longer than I remember it being. probably close to 100 moons of struggle that all turned out ok in the end. I think I had around 20 cats the last time I played the MapleClan save, which is the biggest their clan ever got

that's fuckin wild holy shit. i love that squirrelstar was like "i hate your guts so bad. unfortunately if you died i would be inconsolable"

Living in the tunnels of a huge mountain are these tenacious and smart cats.

Our leader:

Curlystar wasn't the cat who started the clan: that honour belongs to Flipstar, who gave Curlyclaw her new name: Curlystar, giving her the gift of leadership through the darkest times. She'll need it, the Clan is currently in the grip of a famine, with only two warriors, the Clan is barely skating through. She's determined to lead her Clan safely out through the other side of this famine.

Our deputy:

Owlspeckle was born and bred in WyrmClan, and she knows the danger the Clan is currently in. Desperate to prove herself to Curlystar, and to herself, she's quietly plotting her next move.

Our cleric:

Asternettle is worried about how the Clan is going to pull through this famine, but she has faith that StarClan will help them. How? She's not quite sure, but she remains hopeful.

Warriors:

Briarears was desperate to become deputy, but he's begrudgingly accepted that until Curlystar's death, he'll be allocated to the role of helpful senior warrior. He's jealous of Owlspeckle's status as deputy, and is already plotting to get on her good side should she *mysteriously* become a leader overnight.

Ramblingpatch is uncertain about her role in the Clan, and is slightly suspicious of Briarears. The way he talks about Curlystar puts her on edge. However, she's pushed her fears to the side for the sake of her apprentice, who she's already very close to.

Apprentices:

Minkpaw is keenly aware of the shambling status of her Clan. Close friends with both Ramblingpatch and Fallenpaw, she gets all the gossip. Regardless, she's determined to protect her Clan to the best of her ability.

Fallenpaw is a bit more relaxed. He doesn't mind what pronouns get used for zem, or how close Ramblingpatch and Asternettle are. They're very close to Minkpaw, and know how easily she gets passionate about something. Sometimes, she feeds Minkpaw fake gossip, just for fun.

Kits:

Boragekit's parents died when his was very young: his mother of blood loss after giving birth, and his father of starvation after giving his prey to Boragekit. He doesn't remember his father very well, just that he was very kind, and had very soft fur. He's mostly being raised by Ramblingpatch and Asternettle at the moment.

•Instead of fucking over the cockpit and ship, you-know-who had started a fire; making sure to allow it to spread. Once he was brought as leader due to Curlys’ condition, he renamed him to “CurlyBurn”. Because he’s an asshole.

•CurlyStar was generally a good leader for the most part, always making sure he was working on something; though he was not one for violence, often just wanting to talk things out and handle it upon his own, even when it is clear that he should not do that shit on his own.

•The moss and cobwebs replace the bandages here, and [Anya] always feels bad about it.

*Daisuke doesn't have enough training to be a warrior, hence he's stayed as CricketPaw, even though he is well beyond apprentice age.

*SwanSea is a valid warrior cats name. But also, despite being his begrudgingly accepting mentor, he somewhat sees CricketPaw like the son he never had.

*Daisuke is an american curl + Japanese bobtail mix, and he's cocky about it too. Due to his german shepard-esque markings that are shared with a cricket, he ended up being called Cricketpaw. His warrior name would have been CricketShine.

*Swansea is a general moggy sire, nobody knows what breed he is aside from cat. Some say turkish angora mix, others say ragdoll. Whatever he is, he's rather well-fed.

*Swansea had to kill Cricketpaw after the younger tom fell in a thing of rocks after trying to find [Anya].

All the previous leaders: Hollystar, Silentstar, Cricketstar, Garlicstar, Reedstar, and now finally Curlystar.

when you do find time to DM, making mistakes should be your best friend! It’s a great way to learn, and if you mess up the story on the spot, it might end up being a really fun, silly moment your players love anyway! Trying so hard to not make mistakes can be super restricting and unfun. Most of the time the players won’t know, and if you’ve forgotten to put something in you can always drop it in later. D&D’s fun no matter how complicated or uncomplicated the story :) I’m sure u will do great ����
