people who think thorfinn was responsible for thors' death are ANNOYING, man

thors dying was inevitable the second he walked into askeladd's trap, whether thorfinn was there or not. thors didn't want to kill anyone and he also wanted to protect leif and the villagers, which is why he dueled askeladd in the first place. there was no other possible way to do both. that wouldn't have changed if thorfinn wasn't there; thors didn't want to endanger anyone.

bjorn used thorfinn as a hostage to get thors to throw his sword away, yes, but at that point thors and askeladd were already at a stalemate. thors didn't want to kill askeladd, askeladd couldn't just surrender, and askeladd still had the archers ready and waiting. he would've had to use the archers anyway even if thorfinn wasn't there.
