#while Matrakci gets over it the hardest because his pain is so devastating and so similar to what Hürrem experienced

It's interesting that all the characters who emerge as traitors in E25 want their lives to be taken by those they've betrayed. No matter how secondary their involvement is in the main actual betrayals (mostly Matrakci and Nigar), no matter how supposedly motivated by their duty and loyalty to others are their actions that ultimately inevitably turn out traitorous (mostly Ibrahim and Gülşah), each of them wants that final end instead of dealing with the humiliation of having to witness the scorn of the people they value or be separated from them by force. It's about gaining agency in a powerless situation as well as it is about aiming to avoid bad or worse consequences, deflecting the suspicion/blame away from yourself, and about trying to preserve your own personal status quo, hoping against all odds to return to that once comfortable place but realizing that you can't, that perhaps you never will regardless of any silver lining that's apparently granted to you.
#of course each “it's about” applies in different extents to these#different people in their different situations#(no matter how interlinked these different situations also are)#and they all ultimately get used to the new circumstances anyway#it's telling that Ibrahim does it the quickest and easiest tho#as he wants to brush it all off soooo badly and for others to do so too not realizing how impossible it will be#while Matrakci gets over it the hardest because his pain is so devastating and so similar to what Hürrem experienced#(and quite similar to what Hatice will experience too)#Nigar and Gülşah manage to go with the flow with their respective highs and lows until everything changes for them forever#magnificent century#muhteşem yüzyıl#muhtesem yuzyil#ibrahim pasha#matrakci nasuh#nigar kalfa#gulsah hatun
