What was the point of killing that CEO? How will it improve the health care system? Doesn't it just make it harder to attack the corporation he was in charge of, which role likely just continue honest though nothing happened anyway? Even if the CEO was completely evil, what was the point? Was it just to make someone you don't like suffer? Did you even know the CEO before this incident?

Gosh, I hate the Luigi apology! Especially when they try to pull the "so we should just sit down and politely ask for rides?". My dude, what will violence accomplish? How will killing anyone illegally make anything better in any way shape or form? What is the process here? How does this work? What is the step 2? Because unless your goal is to literally overthrow the government, I'm not really seeing how killing people can help you accomplish your goals.

You want to know how peace can actually solve the issue? By voting! Your elected officials rely on votes in order to keep power. You're elected officials have to care about their voters, because if they don't: they lose power. And if you do not vote: you do not have power over your elected officials. Doing research and voting sound like work? Fine then, don't vote, I don't either for that very reason. But at least I'm not saying "ViOlEnCe Is ThE oNlY aNsWeR" when I can't even be bother to vote!

And everyone sympathizing for the CEO because they don't want to live in a society that normalizes violence. And trust me: you don't either. You don't want the average person to think it's justified to resort to violence for political reasons. Because long beliefs don't magically have A different effect on one's psychology than true beliefs, and the vast majority of people think they are good, and that people they don't like are guilty.

If you normalize good people killing the guilty, then you also normalize bad people killing the innocent. That's not a slippery slope fallacy, that's A logical consequence of most bad people think their good people.

I generally do not like or trust the cops. If there's no other reason to hate them: let it be for how they conduct interrogations. And I have many problems with the US legal system. But I recognize the benefit of the law is that it forces people to abide by a standard that maximizes the punishment of the guilty and minimizes the punishment of the innocent. We can definitely do way better, but the easiest way to do that is to improving the system we currently have, and trying to ignore it or circumvent it is way more likely to make things incredibly worse than they are to make it better.

And trust me, I could go on, I have at least one extra point I could make right now that's alluded to in a previous point. I actually have A Reddit post draft that I barely started a while ago that I should probably finish at some point. But right now I'm really just venting because this gets me angry every time I see it, and I'm kind of annoyed that someone I followed unironically unironically reposted this, I still they thought it was so obviously correct that they didn't need to worry about backlash. And honestly, the Luigi-simping is just an example of a greater problem where people unironically think political violence is justified without ever putting A single iota of thought into how that would actually work. They come to conclusions based entirely off of what feels right, and then they call others naive when they point out how absurd their conclusions are.

I just want people to critically examine the own beliefs more, or at least honestly listen to what others critiques of theirs more.

Danny could only let out a loud annoyed groan as he heard the clacking of footsteps in the corridor. Beside him, he could hear his advisor CW snort, amused by what was to come alongside Danny's pain and annoyance.

The only way for his floor to even be making a sound was if he was being graced with a human.

It wasn't often that his realm received living visitors, but the ones that usually did enter and that had managed to survive the walk to his domain always had wishes to ask of him.

And they were always human. Never anything interesting or new.

Which was annoying since humans were usually extremely demanding. As well as stubborn in their beliefs.

He would know. He is one on his days off.

They also usually had the same kind of wish.

A wish that they always were so stubborn to believe will work because they had the strength to make it through the underground to ask for it.

A wish that also had genuinely never worked. Not even once since it started!

Damn you Hades for granting the first request to begin with the one time he was on vacation.

The wish to revive a dead loved one and to make it back together to the living.

Most times, Danny would just grant the request without another thought beyond it being under the same rules as the first time, but this idea continuing through the decades was just getting annoying.

The subtle knocking on the throne room door made him sigh again as he waved his hand to allow entry.

"Look," Danny drawled, pinching his nose and not looking up at the visitor who was now in the room facing him.

"If you're about to go on some rant about how you walked all this way, I really really don't care. Just take whatever loved one you came for and walk away."

Whoever had come didn't even respond beyond a shakily taken gasp, and thats when Danny finally ended up looking towards them.

The man in front of him was really cute. He looked up at Danny, wide-eyed, blue eyes filled with some mix of wonder and curiosity.

Whatever hero get-up he was wearing looked ripped and torn to shreds, but somehow, the man was missing any and all cuts and bruises that should have been there.

If Danny was being honest, the guy reminded him of one of those wet cats who looked betrayed after being forced into taking a bath.

Eventually, after a long moment of staring at each other, the guy spoke.

"Um actually-" The man had the audacity to look bashfully towards the throne room floor before returning his gaze to Danny and continuing.

"I kind of came here to see if I could walk you out of the Underworld..?"

I’m genuinely heartbroken that Mark Waid said Mary’s hero name is going to be Mary Marvel now.

I’m obviously a big fan of Golden Age comics, so it’s in no way a distaste for the Golden Age that motivates this, but I really don’t think that “Mary Marvel” as a hero name works that well in modern comics with characters that aren’t meant to know her secret identity calling her that.

I think that this change is motivated entirely by wanting to return to the classic version of the family in whatever ways are possible without any thought given to what makes sense for the specific version of her that exists in comics now. Especially since Billy is going to be called the Captain now, so it’s not like the name Shazam needed to be freed up for him.

And I really do not think that it makes any in-universe sense for modern Mary to name herself Mary Marvel or be amenable to someone else naming her that. Like, I don’t see the road to this from The New Champion of Shazam! (2023), which emphasized so strongly that, despite sexist backlash, her name was Shazam and not ‘Lady Shazam’ or any other gendered variations that stemmed from hesitation to give her that main title.

I think it’s clear from the interview that Mark Waid is thinking about how to make classically-styled Billy work in a modern comic book. For example, he talks about how a lot of his Golden Age stories had very low stakes, but that doesn’t work well for what modern audience are interested in now, even though it was really successful back then.

But while the change that Billy won’t be able to say “Shazam” anymore without transforming is going to be justified with the Lazarus Planet event, it’s my understanding that the change of Billy’s personality is just going to be how it is now without any explanation. And that’s fine with me because I don’t care for how the modern version of him has previously been characterized.

But I really like the modern Mary that we’ve gotten and I’m sad to see her get unnecessarily dismantled. While Billy as Shazam never worked for me, Mary as Shazam did. It was exciting to see her move into the main spot in the family and the series that gave her that name felt like a natural modernization of her classic character, not the forced and mean-spirited approach that the story that gave Billy that name took.

I just don’t see how this name change is in any way good for her character. While Billy benefits from being called the Captain now in that people who otherwise would not be interested are now going to be more open to buying his book, I don’t see how Mary being called a name that some modern readers struggle to take seriously benefits her, especially when her classic iteration doesn’t have as big of a fan base to appeal to in the first place. And there really wasn’t anything wrong with calling her Shazam.

No Yandere Simulator: Undine Eisner

Category: Potential Rival - will investigate murders and murder attempts (turns up after murder and failed attempt) - will try to protect everyone (after failed murder attempt: guards the intended victim, no matter who it is) - will intervene in fights if she comes across them (tries to stop the fight, so no one gets injured/killed) - will try to stop a murder attempt, if she walks in on it (fights the attacker and tries to capture them) - will sneak/run away, if someone has a gun (Undine knows what she's made of and that she can't win against that)

In this AU, she moved with her family from Germany to whereever this school is, while her friends stayed back in Germany, so she is on her own at this school (still in contact with them though). Her family is actually political very right and hates foreigners, so they also hate to be foreigners, but one parent got such a great job opportunity here, you know: money. At any rate, Undine tries to be a "good" foreigner and "integrate" (assimilate). So, she prefers to get into fights (only with "bad guys" who "deserve it", of course) after school, to not be bad at school by breaking the rule against fighting there.

Other "values" taught at home are racism and queerphobia. With the bad influence of her parents instead of the good influence of her friends, Undine believes in these "values" much more. By mouthing off about her outdated and cruel points of view, Undine has ruined her own reputation at this school.

Her desire to be heroic and popular (even stronger in this AU) is constantly thwarted by herself. It's not just that she ends up discriminating students in her mindset to look down on differences to put herself higher, she also comes across as annoying, ignorant and patronizing when she tries to help people with little daily struggles (because there are so little big stuggles at this lame, mundane school).

While it is unclear, if Jade really has a romantic interest in Undine (as rumour has it), he is certainly interested in the contradiction between her heroic kindness and her villainous rude side and the resulting "entertaining behaviour". Undine is curious, if the rumour is true, but won't ask Jade outright. She wouldn't risk to get rejected by someone she doesn't even have a crush on. Goes against her pride.

In an AU, where she is not at a disadvantage with others having magic, but she herself not, Undine is pretty strong. She won't admit it, but her motivation to get stronger in the Martial arts club isn't just her wish to be heroic and save people, but also her less heroic lust for power (which physical strength is).

Her close friends call her "Dini" - but she doesn't have any close friends at this school. Undine has some kind of frivalry with Yuu Quinn (OC of @vvyvernicus), where they hang out together because most other people avoid them due to bad reputation, but they bicker and mock each other most of the time and Undine has the immature need to compete with Yuu Quinn over every little thing. But yeah, Undine does care about Yuu Quinn, so if anyone does something bad to her - it's personal and Undine will come for this bad guy with extra rage.

I hope Undine isn't too problematic with her discriminatory ways, but I thought if murder is okay, then her misdeeds should not be too hardcore for the AU. Undine can change and learn to be a better person - with some good-influence-friends, patience and learning from mistakes it's possible, even in this AU.

Just finished the show a few days ago, so that's why I'm only just posting this now.

The Pokemon HOME app limiting random features and information to either the mobile or console versions is SO clunky and annoying.

My goal: to check which of my favorite Pokemon and shinies stored in HOME don't have the Paldea Champion Ribbon yet, so I can bring those into Scarlet and get it for them. But! You can only view what ribbons a Pokemon has on the mobile version of the software! And you can't move Pokemon to your switch games from mobile!!! So you have to:

quit out of the console app, if you opened it already because you thought this would be a relatively simple task

open the app on mobile

manually document which Pokemon don't have the ribbon- like, on a piece of paper or something

close the mobile app (you can't have both versions of the app open simultaneously)

open the app on console

move them from HOME into Scarlet, referring to aforementioned list

Now you might say "There is a custom tag feature in Pokemon HOME! You could apply a tag to the Pokemon you plan to move instead of making a physical note on a piece of paper!" But unfortunately, the only aspect of the tag you can see on the console version is the color- the name of the tag isn't visible. and I'm already using every color of tag available

(also: you can only make and apply tags on mobile. other mobile exclusive things: wonder trade and gts, viewing 90% of achievements, viewing models, switching between a pokemon's stats for different games it can go in without switching what game you're planning on moving things between)

Some more ideas that are *somewhat* specified in the notebook:

Sort of a timeline for Jinx as a cat, initially she was a street kitten given the name “powder” by Ekko who, at the time, wanted to keep her. His parents didn’t let him but she still followed him for a long time. Eventually she got injured and got picked up by Silco. He took care of her, fed her, groomed her, the works. One day she got into some trouble and almost died so Silco took her to what he thought was a reputable vet. They told him that she died and made it seem like she had. In actuality, they kept her for experiments. Nobody really knows what happened other than she came out traumatized, with pink eyes and eerily smart. Like, smarter than any cat should be. She spent more time on the street until she happened upon Ekko, who was going to college nearby. She followed him home and snuck in. She’s been with him ever since. She only responds to “powder” when it’s Ekko. It took Ekko a while to realize it was the same cat. Literally nobody else gets that privilege. Not even Vi. Silco might be able to but tbh he never gave her a name. He mostly just called her “blue” but switched over to jinx when they reunited. Also the name “Jinx�� came from the fact that Ekko was too concerned abt having a strange cat in his house to study for the test the next day and subsequently kinda bombed it. He said she “jinxed him” and eventually the nickname “you little jinx” became the name “jinx”. Jinx quite likes her name tbh because it reminds her of what Ekko would do for her and their reunion after so many years.

Silco is Ekko’s boss at his job in this au. They initially hated each other but bonded over similar worldview and ADORABLE pictures of jinx and later, Isha. Silco does have another cat now tho. It’s Sevika. This is part of the reason that Jinx didn’t return to Silco’s care. The main part is mostly that she just didn’t want to. She gets enough time at Ekko’s work.

As previously stated, jinx LOVES Vi and HATES Caitlyn. This is because Vi used to feed her when she was still a stray kitten. Usually scraps but sometimes proper pet food and treats. As such, usually whenever Vi is over she is immediately commandeered by the blue cat. Meanwhile Caitlyn, while not doing anything directly, her mother kicked jinx away as a kitten more than a few times because she was scared Powder would hurt Caitlyn or give her some disease. It happened enough times for jinx to recognize their faces and scents and oh BOY can jinx hold a grudge. It is ON SIGHT between jinx and Cait even if Cait and the rest have no idea WHY. Caitlyn isn’t allowed even remotely close to Isha because of Jinx, who is scared Isha will be kicked like she was. The loudest Ekko has ever heard jinx be was when Cait got a little too close to Isha and Jinx was Not Having It.

On a typical day tho, jinx mostly sleeps. Partially a side effect of experimentation but also she just doesn’t see the point in getting up when there’s a nice bed and a warm sun. Tho tbh when she’s not sleeping, she’s being a nuisance. Pushing cups off tables, getting in the way, turning off whatever lights she is able to (Ekko still has no idea how she does this), the occasional yell around the house, races against Isha on who can get to the other since of the house the fastest (which sounds like they’re both falling down some stairs with how loud they are), sneaking up on Ekko and generally being annoying. To be fair, it’s not like she has anything better to do. Most cat toys fall flat when she has enough intelligence to understand a decent amount of English. She usually pretends she doesn’t know anything tho. It took Ekko a few weeks to figure that one out and BOY was it horrifying to ask a cat “can you understand me” and get a small but definite NOD YES. He doesn’t really tell anyone tho. Partially because he doesn’t think anyone would believe him and it’s not like Jinx would back him up on that claim. She’s be silently laughing at his misery. Also partially because it really doesn’t change much. It just means that the little asshole pushes dishes off counters because she likes to and annoying Ekko is just a little bonus for her efforts.

Jinx kinda just waltzed into his life one day and didn’t leave. She has annoyed him for years and refuses to leave. She’s smart too. Like, knows what ‘no’ means but doesn’t care unless it’s actually dangerous and not just annoying. He begrudgingly loves her and doesn’t know what he’d do without her. Then she adopted Isha. She became more personable but will try to murder you if you approach Isha. He still has no fucking CLUE where she even got her. He has a suspicion she has a way out of the house but doesn’t know where it is. So one day he came home to his cat licking a small kitten who he later found out, WASN’T EVEN HERS. Ekko regrets letting the cat into his life (half his house is cat things and he loves them to pieces. Especially considering jinx is a deterrent from Vi bringing Caitlyn over. For some reason the cat hates her? In ekko’s opinion, completely fair. He hates her a little too.)

the one thing that annoys me the most about this book is that alexis cannot go two sentences without mentioning how she is suicidal and how she wants to die and straight up off herself and how despite having so many chances at it she never does it (WHICH IS COOL. DONT KILL YOURSELF PEOPLE) but she also never gives any explanation as to why not? like there was one chapter that in which she was at corfu w patrochilles and she was like "the best thing i could do was drown myself." cut to 3 paragraphs later, she's swimming with her pet because "she loves swimming." she's going through physical torture in the military thing they're at? "i wish i would die" "it's easier to die" "i'm gonna kms" "the moment i got a sec i was gonna kms." she gets close to death once and she's like "thank god i didn't die." which is a thing that happens. many people myself included who have experimented a near-death experience or real fear of death after/during suicidal ideation will come to a realization that maybe they didn't want to die and the cognitive disonance of "i wish i could kms but i dont want to die" is, i feel, a not all that widely explored topic in YA fantasy. and i think it's interesting, and it opens so many doors in terms of character development, and it could have make this book so, so much better. and instead not only is the chance not taken, but also, it turns sucide into a joke for 36 chapter and it makes is so that any mention of actual risk of death/suicide goes as a joke even if its serious.

(bonus points -> she has two very clear reasons as to why she can't die. one is that she's technically immortal which i dont really get bc shes meant to be in military school as a trial to see if she deserves immortality but also she and her classmates can already not be killed. except for the fact that. they can because 3 of them died. so whats the point idk. and i can only imagine how distressful it would be for someone who has suffered so much and is actively facing torture every day of their life that and who is suicidal to be suddenly told that she is never gonna die. and she doesn't mention that whole dilemma AT ALL. then, theres the fact that her little brother doesn't know where she's been the past months and he's still facing homelessness, this time by himself yes i still think he's dead. see, she brings up charlie like once every 3 chapters when she remembers to which i guess is a good amount. the idea of charlie is there either to make her feel guilty (when she has the wet dream) or to motivate her, because she wants to go back to him. BUT IT IS NEVER THERE TO MOTIVATE HER OUT OF HER SUICIDAL IDEATION? WHICH,,, AM I THE ONLY ONE WHO FINDS THIS A BIT RANDOM? like how come charlie is good motivation when you are being forced to run after weeks of starvation but he is never once mentioned when you are wishing you would kill yourself? why is it "i gotta survive this for charlie" and then immediately after "i should kms" and no mention of charlie? like it feels so,, idk. whatever. sure.)

okay so. the titan attacked while they were running (they've a circuit they have to do often around the island) and most students went to hide but she stayed behind to help one who had fallen (and who now is dead) and then she started to attack the titan herself with a stone and stuff until kharon (the predator) came to finish him off. and now. i think he's gonna kiss her. which. to quote finn mertens, i nono wanna.

btw in case anyone's lost, there's two guys pursuing alexis, kharon (the predator) and augustus (the evil teacher slash pokemon sword guy) (and theyre lovers)

summary if anyone is interested -> pretty unclear dystopian setting, 10-yo befriends an echidna named nyx and then gets a foster brother delivered to her room the next day. the titans are like superhumans killing normal people and the "spartans" are 12 protector families (8 are olympian, 4 are cthonic and those are dangerous murderers or something).
