Speaking of movies, gamer Ellie would be more into comedy and sci-fi than anything. I've mentioned in previous headcannons Ellie would be a huge Jurassic park fan, but some other movie / shows she'd be begging you to watch with her are Airplane, Star Trek, and Pulp Fiction. Anything with action or on her level of dumb humor, and Star Trek for when she's geeking out. It's her guilty pleasure.

✧.* Gamer Ellie's favorite type of physical touch is having your fingers running through her hair. She likes to feels your touch in such a light, vulnerable way. Sometimes when she's playing a game, you'll approach her from behind and massage her scalp with your sweet touch. "Babe, you're distracting me!" It's so hard to remember to reload her virtual AR when all she's feeling is the way your warm fingers slid down her back and how your breathing turned into soft pants when she got all greedy and latched her filthy mouth onto your neck. Still, she'd never tell you to get off of her lap so she could focus. You were worth every aggravating respawn.

✧.* Gamer Ellie, in bed, isn't some huge dommy-mommy or whatever you're thinking. She's really touchy, sure. But she's honestly just your average lesbian who is absolutely obsessed with her girl, and she blanks at time. You'll be on top of her, and she's got this cave-woman aura going where she's just staring at your pretty face, focused on chasing your lips for a kiss. Her hands are awkwardly perched on her sides because she forgets how to even touch you: you're such a fucking goddess, and she's kind of a loser. You're a savior, though; guiding her hands to your waist with a sweet, patient smile. ✧.* Gamer Ellie is a huge night owl. While your sleep schedule is pretty average, she will blink and it'll be four in the morning. She'll groan and pop her back before stripping down to underwear and a t-shirt and then crash on your shared bed, making you stir from your rest. She sleepily curls her body into yours, peppering the warmest smooches wherever(probably with her eyes closed or half-way, at least) and muttering out apologies for waking you in the most ethereal voice known to woman-kind (it's raspy and the one she uses during sex when she's attempting to be a good top).

A little background on who people with borderline personality disorder are and where do they come from. (Of course, each case is unique. I'm talking about the average manifestation of the disorder here.)

Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) is a type of personality disorder in which a person is unstable, hypersensitive, highly anxious, and has no sense of self (no feeling of identity). One in ten patients end up committing suicide.

In fact, borderliners are people with no emotional skin. What for a stable person is a small domestic nuisance - for a borderliner is boundless terror, fear, a complete sense of helplessness and overwhelming self-loathing. Are you sick? It's your fault, you're worthless. You forgot your pass and had to buy an underground ticket? You're disgusting, step under a train right now. You forgot the food in the fridge and it spoilt? Don't you dare eat for another three days, punish yourself, cut yourself because you're nothing. That's not an exaggeration, it's true. And then you see an advert with a doggy and you laugh until you cry and all is fine.

It's like that dozens of times in one day.

Why do borderliners work this way? Heredity plays a role (which in Ness's case can be seen, for example, by the fact that he reacted acutely to some things even as a child), but to a greater extent, of course, the family, because when BPD is treated in the early stages, it is more easily reduced to remission (but does not disappear completely - it is like the core of the personality). Speaking of family types, typically borderliners come out of families with a narcissistic parent or the same borderline. Why exactly is that the case?

Because life with a narcissist/borderliner parent is an endless battlefield in which the child is forced to survive. Any emotion you have, if it doesn't fall under the parent's incomprehensible ideas, is repulsive. Any request you make and attempt to speak your mind is a violation of all laws and the worst offence. Today you're the golden child, tomorrow you're trash. Today your mom says she loves you, and tomorrow she blames you for divorcing your dad. Today dad likes the tea you made him, tomorrow he'll throw it in your face. It's a constant violation of personal space, an inability to have privacy, an impossibility to defend your interests - and yet a staggering neglect, a removal of the child from your life. Parents in such families usually divide their children into "golden" and "outcast" children, emphasising in every possible way how terrible the lousy sheep of the family (the outcast child) is, and encouraging bullying by their siblings.

Sounds similar to Ness's story, doesn't it?

In such families, the child by the age of 6 or 7 already knows that he is disgusting, horrible, and must do anything to avoid being abandoned - because the parents emphasise in every possible way that he is horrible, but they (for now) keep him out of mercy. A child learns by the slightest movement of the eyebrows and corner of the mouth to know when mom loves you and when she hates you, when dad is good and when he's bad.

The childhood of such children is a battlefield, and they come out of it emotionally disabled. For example, a very common consequence of living in such a family, in addition to BPD, is PTSD. Yeah, like war veterans.

(and by the way, borderliners VERY often end up paired with… Narcissists. Because it's a familiar love-hate game. And on top of that, also a beautiful (non-existent) personality to take a bite out of for your non-existent self))

Yuubeni Chōga

Appearance:

Yuubeni is a young woman with light, freckled olive toned skin and dark brown, almost black eyes. Barely below average at 5’3, with a small build and curves. Still has some baby fat around the stomach area. She has short, curly dark brown hair, usually down. Her fashion fluctuates between the extremes of pink and feminine to looking like she just hopped out of a Dick’s Sporting Goods.

Personality:

Yuubeni is an introverted girl, who always likes to help her friends. She struggles a lot in multiple aspects of her life, like taking care of herself or school work, but she always seems to have energy to assist someone in need. She has adhd and anxiety, and she’s a little sensitive to negative attitudes towards her. She’s a bit naive and gullible, which gets her and her friends into less than desirable situations constantly. She’s also a bit self-conscious socially, and she tries to avoid talking much about herself or her interests in fear of embarrassing herself. If you do get her to talk about something she’s passionate about, though, she switches up to probably one of the highest energy people you��ve ever met. Of course, she’ll probably be thinking about that moment for days, scared you found her weird. She waters down her personality, and won’t let too many people get close. It’s easier for her to befriend extroverts so she doesn’t have to speak, or those who some might say are a little out of the norm.

Backstory:

Yuubeni was born into a very normal family. Her family moved around constantly due to her father’s job, and they never stayed quite in one place for too long. The most recent place they moved was the one they’d stayed for the longest, and Yuubeni really started to feel like she fit in. Of course, she can’t have anything nice, can she? Just as she finally felt comfortable, another move was announced. Distraught, she ‘took a walk’ in the middle of the night. During her ‘walk’, was the moment the sound of horse hooves clopping against pavement were heard, and moments later she blacked out. Waking up in a floating coffin was, obviously, VERY anxiety-inducing for her.

Now at NRC, she’s having trouble juggling her school work, duties, friends, and the constant overblots.

The Synastry Between Min Heejin x NewJeans (Controversial) ⚠️

Someone asked me to analyze the Min Heejin situation w/ NewJeans and I've been out of the kpop loop for a bit but I was looking into it and my mind's already going..

All of this is biased btw. But some of it is also 1-1 astro logic mixed in. This is Min Heejin's chart. And this is NJ's group chart.

What's immediately evident is that Heejin's moon potentially opposes NJ's moon-mars-uranus configuration in their first. There's a clear and deeply ingrained power dynamic there. Objectively speaking, a pair with this synastry is going to be very emotionally influenced by each other. And her Virgo-mars influenced Scorpio moon makes her much shrewder and calculated than the average person. And her mars-jupiter only exacerbates that.

The woman's incredibly intelligent. With all of her mutable energy and that Virgo/Scorpio, she loves being able to take something a part and put it together. She sees people and their potential as moving parts she can analyze and qualify their value. This is a person who's naturally very drawn to the psychology of things. Because this is informed by an early degree (8 of wands coded) Sag mercury which squares those Virgo points, she's incredibly sure of herself to the point of not minding confrontation and most likely gets a rise out of opposition.

But on the surface with that Sun-Neptune in Sag she has, she's going to fly under the radar..deliberately.. and play the role of a demure but shrewd woman who the men in a corporate world don't see as a threat on the surface. But she's strategizing to systematically pick them off one by one. Especially since she has a Sun-Saturn square on top of it. Her points are operating in South Korea's 5th, 7th, and 8th houses. She's playing their game on the surface but she's annihilating everyone in her path. The woman's a predator, but she's a genius. It means you will never see this woman coming.

As for NJ, I'm already biased and I'm gonna say that imo, as young girls, them being a Cancer with a Cancer Mercury w/ 'made to grow up before I was ready' 1H stressed lunar issues while the woman has a Scorpio moon in their 7th house of relationships..is just explaining, imo, why they're fiercely protecting her. They potentially see her as a sisterly/motherly figure/mentor who believed in them that they want to see the good in. The reality is that we don't 100% know how that dynamic went. They may have benefited from her guidance but if we're doing a 1-1 astrology read, a lunar dynamic like that where the girls' group chart already has internal emotional issues is going to be susceptible to finding refuge in women who 'seemingly know better' but who may have ulterior motives.

If there wasn't anything dangerous going on, I'd still be wary about it. I'd be like..is it safe..objectively for this person to have THAT much emotional control of a group like that? Without a bias, a lot of their synastry suggests that both parties are incredibly influential on one another. Even if Heejin was using them, she most likely encountered a lot of deep issues she personally has going on bc that lunar dynamic is going to eventually bring that up, even in her. Because what Heejin's chart gives, imo, is that she has issues with not thinking she's personally good enough that she may project into the groups she handles.

Because when I saw their Sun-Venus opposition in synastry, it made me wonder if NJ ever thought they could live up to her expectations about artistry and aesthetics. All of that, imo, has to do with how she sees herself. She has a Venus-Saturn trine paired with a Venus-Pluto square, which says that she never feels as if her expectations are met with what she loves, and it translates to how her Venus-Pluto square with NJ plays out in synastry. In synastry, it can create this toxic cycle of someone trying to 'prove' themselves and the other person being the victim or perpetuator of that.

If we dissect it further, Heejin's retrograde taurus chiron demonstrates all of this. Earth is material and taurus as a venus ruled sign in chiron's home is going to have an issue over not having enough or being enough. That falls right on top of NJ's Moon-Mars configuration. THIS was the group that really brought all of her personal issues out, I'm telling you. She poured all of her personal drama and issues into making sure they were as 'perfect' as possible bc they were living embodiments of what she wishes she always was. It's very childhood wound coded, which is chiron. Interestingly enough, NJ's retrograde chiron in aries in their 12th, imo, represents their need for autonomy.

Aries is the child and they were essentially made to sacrifice their childhoods. Their Leo mercury squaring their 1H taurus points spells that out because it says that they don't feel listened to or heard. They're seen and very visible but they may feel like chess pieces on a board. My guess, imo, is that Heejin made them feel as if..if they followed her rule book that they would gain some kind of autonomy or feel empowered. But since it forms harsh aspects to ber Venus-Pluto square, you're getting a dysfunctional relationship where the power dynamic is unhealthy and unstable. There's this feeling of never feeling good enough for her..which creates a toxic cycle of 'proving' themselves..that she benefits from emotionally. And it just sets them up to become reliant on that dynamic from others in the long run. Bc while their Venus trines in their chart suggest their likability, it comes at a cost where their Venus-Jupiter square will never feel like it's enough and they'll over extend themselves to ensure the person 'stays.'

Hello!! I've recently found your blog and I absolutely adore your writing and even have notifications on, hehe 🫶🏻 I'd like to request a match up, but of course only if you have the time to do it!

I'm 22 years old and I use she/her pronouns. I speak two languages (German+English), I have blond, medium length hair (it's dyed, my natural hair color is brown) which is wavy but I straighten it because I think it looks better. Sometimes, when I'm bored, I dye some colorful strands into it! (Like pink, or red, or purple.) I'm average in height, although on the higher side of the spectrum by being 5'7. My personality type is ENFP 2w3 and I tend to get along with everyone, but more so with ambivert people since I sometimes have phases where I'm more introverted. I like people who are different from me since I like hearing a different perspective on things, so people who are too close to me in terms of personality are a no go. I also like mature people, so unnecessary fights or arguments can easily be avoided. I talk a lot and I joke around a lot too, so people tend to call me a social butterfly which I agree with. I need my downtime too, so it isn't too uncommon to find me sitting alone in my room, listening to music and playing video games at the end of the day.

I do have a few mental struggles and I do have a chronic illness as well (I don't wanna outright say what I have, but I have incredibly bad stomach aches from time to time, so bad that I even had to have a surgery because of it when I was 17.) All that is too say is that I can be a bit complicated at times, but I try my best to better myself.

My hobbies include: mainly playing video games (like stardew valley, animal crossing, generally more relaxing games), doing my make up, baking (when I'm stressed which is too often), and going out with my friends! Okay so it didn’t take me long to decide lmao. I’ve decided he’s gonna have 3 main heritages.

The first one is Filipino, but specifically from a tribe known as the Bajau/Sama-Bajau. They’re a group of Sea Nomadiac people and they have bigger spleens which allow themselves to hold their breath for longer than the average person. They also rupture their ear drums as a young age to be able to dive better and I thought this was lowkey interesting.

The second is African which he also gets from his human heritage (sort of an excuse to learn about African history)

I plan on making a short story on how Percy’s grandparents met because they’re rather important to Percy’s story and play a big part in his trauma.

And finally, third is Polynesian which he gets from his dad Poseidon.

And speaking of his heritage I’ve sort of decided that Percy isn’t as tune in his heritage as someone like Piper for example (atleast in my series idk or remember anything about Piper like past HoH) because of his trauma with his grandparents which I’m sort of still writing so yeah Percy has family issues all around the board in this AU.

Percy was first left with his grandparents and then when they died Sally got with Gabe and started to resent his father from the abuse. Then Percy’s mother died when he was attacked by the Minotaur and then he gets rid of Gabe. Not to mention his very complex relationship with godly parents + Kronos (double grandparent trauma).

So yeah he doesn’t have a good track record with family besides his mother.

Funny enough Annabeth is sort of the opposite in a way. She does have a bad track record with family but in the end it’s all sort of fixed. Like, the trauma is still there but she’s fixed those bonds. She reconciled with her Dad and Stepmom, gained the approval of her mother, got Thalia back, and saved Luke.

So yeah, Annabeth and Percy in my AU are still more alike than different like in canon, despite having different stories (despite one more drastically changed than the other).

Im actually super excited for this AU because the superhero approach for demigods lets me do some cool and interesting stuff while keeping most of the characters relatively the same and introducing some stuff I think is interesting because of no mist. (The Dick Grayson and Jason Todd influence on Percy is gonna be showing fr lmao)

(Realizing his heritage set up him being related to different pantheons, and him being able to perform different feats and having possibly different abilities and what not. I actually can’t wait to intergrate that not only into Percy but characters like Annabeth too who’s family canonically attracts godly beings)

A list on what I like about the season 0 movie!

The movie's been churning in my brain hours after I've watched it. Maybe it'll settle down with a list of what I find so charming about this anime.

This got very long and wordy so I put it under the cut.

The opening is really adorable with the group hanging out, doing stuff that's not in the main Season 0 anime. Like meeting in the classroom and eating out, really sweet glimpses of their lives together when there isn't any danger.

I admit it does feel kind of jarring with the season opening playing and knowing it doesnt match the lyrics, but I'm not really that bothered by it. The scenes playing feel like a contrast to the Season anime and there isn't some mysterious shadow force hiding. There isn't any foreshadowing or anticipation of a battle needed, it's more like a movie that takes note of the more seemingly mundane aspects.

I have to add this, Miho shows up in the first frame and then Yugi and she says she's not interested in learning how to play card games and hardly shows up at all afterwards. She's great as always :thumbsup:

There's a new character added to the cast the movie focuses on: Shougo Aoyama he's kind of intriguing with his very anxious nervous demeanor that's rarely seen in Yugioh characters.

Shougo is such a good foil to Jou and Yugi. Yugi loves games and I know he would play by himself from the first few scenes of Ep1 in Season 0. Yugi knows Shougo doesn't have the confidence to play seriously from observing him carefully and goes to intervene when he sees the bullies near Shougo!

Yugi Gets Called Yugi nii-chan isn't that the cutest!!!!!

It also shows Yugi's growth as a character who stands up for others when they're in danger. Yugi is someone whose much more confident in being relied on. He decisively walks to Shougo the moment the kids who bully him show up. He's much more experienced and observant of Shougo's circumstances being able to pick apart why he acts the way he does.

I really like Yugi and his potential to be the pacifist who helps others even after all he's been through in the past, he usually gets the rough treatment or super sidelined despite being a duelist and the titular character. So I'm incredibly happy because There He Is!! Being genuinely shown with his strengths.

What about Shougo being a foil to Jou? If Yugi has confidence in games and tries to master them. Then Jou is someone who clearly fights and works his hardest despite the circumstances. He can't really imagine backing down when the situation clearly calls for a fight. He's the fight instinct to Shougo's flight instinct.

Shougo's presence reveals a lot about Jou's personal philosophy and how they're more of disadvantaged average joes who know more about getting kicked down, life can be difficult and it feels like Jou sympathizes with Shougo when they're sitting together in the seats all beat up.

Jou gets super annoyed that Shougo won't fight because he has a strong card and he won't use it. He has a dream and he won't work for it. He doesn't really want to help as much as Yugi does. But he still told Shougo why Yami Yugi won't use the red-eyes and told him he's doing it so Shougo masters up the courage.

Jou's blood getting on the red-eyes card he got back from a fight is so metal. The movie shows his quick thinking and boldness really well.

Speaking of which, the transformation to Yami Yugi was gorgeous. And how Yugi seamlessly allowed Yami to take over with so much readiness. They've really come so far from the past and can swap over when they know the situation calls for it.

Also Yami Yugi Helping Someone instead of just winning the duel with Seto, he waits for Shougo to call on the red-eyes. Sorry Seto you're not the priority at all. They're literally trying to help some super anxious guy lol.

It's just funny how Seto has to resort to physical force to get ppl in his tournament. Has to beat up someone to get them in his tournament like Pegasus or smth. None of them want to be here. Also the special stage settings reserved for "Yugi" typical Seto moment.

After all these years the animations during the duel are gorgeous, the aesthetics too and the soundtrack of course, the monsters get nice big designs, and the cards levitate and float instead of being just regular cards. So so fun and they can only figure out their strategies after they've summoned rather than drawing them by hand so its more like a surprise!

The movie just really shows the bond and trust between Jou, Yugi, and Yami Yugi as a team and plays to their individual strengths extremely well.

it also feels very encouraging, because inspiring courage in others is important especially since they know they're introducing something more new to their audience, and with Shougo it feels like the writers are telling the viewers to take those steps.

Crosscode AU yippeee

These are Dabu, Sul and Rho's avatars before the main plot story.

i was trying not to think about this fuckin au because scary irl adjacent setting and I'm shit at research like absolute dogshit no joke i cannot research things deeply even if they mean the world and more to me, but the brain worms will not stop so i had to keep thinking about it.

Here's some small bios for the lads (the areas mentioned are v general cause I'm indecisive, i know Sul doesn't live in France and Dabu doesn't live in a place where its mandatory to wear a Hijab (though since this is set in future place who knows how laws changed) so that narrows it down a bit)

Dabu: girl from the middle east who has a hobby of boxing. She shows more varied emotion than the average dabu, which means if she's constantly grinning its a bit of a giveaway of her being stressed. Multilingual. Has a large distrust of authority figures.

Sul: girl from Europe who likes birdwatching/taking in nature. A paperwork ghost who ran away from home. Has really weak knowledge of reading and writing in her native language, as well as other general knowledge (e.g. maths). She speaks in broken english, but is learning well. Lives in a small village, well known in the area due to her gigantism (much to her dismay).

Rho: person who currently doesn't have any active hobbies, but has passively mentioned they want to try out parkour. While Dabu and Sul have shown pictures of themselves (they look p much just like their avatar) Rho has not, nor has she disclosed whereabouts she lives. She speaks english and hasn't said if she knows any other languages. They seem to be notably lethargic lately, though they say they still love playing Crosscode with their friends.

And some random ass trivia:

-Sul and Dabu have slightly different body types than usual (Dabu's muscles are less obviously defined and her body type is more Laios adjacent, Sul's legs and arms are wider) because they have much easier access to food and water.

-While she doesn't cry constantly here, Sul's eyes are more prone to watering than average and she cries very easily when feeling strong emotions. Her visions better than average Sul because she isn't constantly teary.

-The three played almost exclusively together, having a team strategy that would rely on Rho distracting an enemy so Dabu has a clean open to kill it, while Sul provides buffs. Because of their reliance on each other they're pretty shit at instanced areas. None of them are particularly good players alone.

-Sul and Dabu are not married in this, just girlfriends. They do wear promise rings however.

As I wrap up my Doctor Who full series mega marathon watch through (and also listen through with the missing episodes audio available as audiobook), I wanted to do a little write up on each Doctor to highlight that each Doctor is worth watching in their own right despite their reputations.

Right now I'm going to start with one of my imo the most underrated Doctor, the one of which my personal opinion improved the most, and the one who runs the full gamut of episode quality: the 7th Doctor

I think it is fair to say that I am higher on the 7th Doctor than most

7 was the victim of the sins of his predecessor's production team's failures (I stand by Colin Baker did a good job with what he was given), which meant short seasons and lower budgets.

I'm not sure if it was the fact that the production team was free over expectations or that the reduced production order forced them to only pick the very best episodes, but once the stylings of the previous era have been shaken off (metaphorically shown by the arrival of Ace and the departure of Mel)

Ace is one of the best companions the show has ever had, and far and away the best post-Sarah companion of the classic era. Her unique and likable personality, intersting backstory, and active role she plays makes her one of the most enjoyable and human companions. She also has some great queer undertones and while it is not explicit on screen (it was 1987-89), behind the scenes it is confirmed Ace is bisexual.

7's first season is not quite as bad as it seems by its low rating. I personally am very fond of Paradise Towers, which I feel is an underrated camp classic. It has very surrealist quality that makes me almost think of David Lynch. It's hampered mostly by the budget (parts feel like they're filmed in a community center) and a random and weak crab monster that went from cool to awful.

In that same campy style there the also incredibly underrated Happiness Patrol. I greatly enjoyed this serial for its unique design and stellar tone that feels almost more like a surrealist stage play with some heavy queer undertones with Ace.

Speaking of queer undertones, there Ghost Light. I am fascinated by this serial, from the cross dressing and gender and sexuality stuff, to the Victorian stylings, to the gorgeous mansion sets, to the spooky story, to delving into Ace's character and backstory. I have thought about this story every day since I first saw it. It might not be everyone's favorite story, but it is mine.

Overall, I really, really love 7. He's a great Doctor who really leans into both the humor and the darkness of the role at the same time. McCoy did a wonderful job as the Doctor, and I really wish he had been given at least one more season. I wish I could have seen what this show could have become were it allowed to continue on the trajectory it was on into the 90's.

Continuing from the "good faith" angle of discussion (I truly love discussing this character, don't let my spirals confuse you):

While I don't think Sis is necessarily as cartoonishly pure evil as many depictions, the nature of their relationship is... troubling, to say the least. For one, the fact that the two were reading concurrently implies that she may have been playing a part in raising him. I don't think siblings with such an insignificant age gap as, for instance, Junko and Mukuro, would ever do that. There's also the fact that the tulpa/alter/whatever of Sis (assuming it's accurate to Kiyo's memory) speaks to him in a similar manner to how an older family member would speak to a child. While Kiyo as a character is a prime example of "Nature vs. Nurture" (in fact, I hc that he had Borderline Personality Disorder even prior to the Incest Thing™), I do think there has to be some room in the Korekiyo discourse for acknowledgement that Kiyo may have suffered some form of sexual trauma that contributed to his unsettling behavior and mental state, while still acknowledging that Kiyo is no less of a remorseless sociopath than Genocide Jack, Tsumugi Shirogane or Junko Enoshima.

I largely agree! However due to the way Sister manifested as a sort of... protective tulpa I'm more inclined to believe that the pair of them endured abuse together and became unhealthily codependent. Possibly she was the older of the two and therefore Kiyo relied on her to an unhealthy degree, but if he saw her as a source of discomfort or distress I don't think it would be her persona that he wears as a sort of shield. After all, we see her come out when he's under pressure, displaying aggression that he doesn't display, demanding that his accusers apologise. And then when she passed away his loss of his rock left him to completely flounder, and eventually to manifest a tulpa/alter/however you wish to define it that took on the protective role of the sister he relied on so heavily.

And then, of course, there's the whole 'sending girls to the afterlife to be my dead sister's friends' thing. I don't think he would have that mindset if he hated or resented her. There is a world in which she did abuse him but he didn't recognise it as a painful or detrimental act, I suppose, but I would have thought he wouldn't dedicate his life to helping her be happy in death if he secretly hated her for her actions. I think it's more likely that, in his eyes, she was the only "safe" person he had, the only person who protected and looked after him when he was being victimised by outside forces.

How big their age gap was I think is debatable, however given how similar they look I'm inclined to think they're relatively close in age and though it makes sense that she would be older if he looks to her as a protective figure, I don't think it would have been enough of a gap for there to be the kind of alienation that comes from being a sibling with a significant age gap.

Hence I HC that the pair of them were raised and abused together, rather than that she was the perpetrator and he the victim. Does that make sense?

▸ being alone or being in a crowd? : this seems like an easy answer, but it's hard to say. he isn't as well - socialized as he would like ( despite being much more so than his prior selves ) , & playing cricket like a regular person on a sunday is quite fun for him! despite the frequency with which he is kidnapped, being out & about is usually a good experience & he can still see the best in people! that being said, there is a time & place for everything. he values his time alone while valuing his time with others, as well. he would never actively turn down someone's request to spend time together because he'd ' rather be alone ' . there really isn't a social battery to recharge or anything, either. ▸ order or anarchy? : he will have order. ▸ painful truths or white lies? : despite being one of the more honest iterations, he is still the doctor. a fugitive from gallifrey whose existence in the lives of others is built on misdirection & deceit, even if it's prettied up & packaged nicely. but the fifth doctor isn't the type to blatantly lie, preferring to just . . . omit. much easier to just avoid addressing things fully. ▸ science or magic? : science. witches almost ate him alive, once ( no, i'm not kidding ) . he doesn't hold a grudge against practitioners, it's quite interesting stuff, really! but science is something he understands, & magic is not. ▸ peace or conflict? : major peacekeeper. the desire for maintaining it leads to him being a bit of a pushover, with nobody who breaks terms of service facing any real consequences. it's literally why his companions tend to walk all over him & people don't tend to take him seriously. ▸ night or day? : well it's always night or day somewhere, isn't it? you truly have no concept of such things when space is your home. ▸ dusk or dawn? : dawn. it may be a bit trite, but nothing inspires poetry & rouses the spirit like sweet birdsong. ▸ warmth or cold? : no preference whatsoever, usually. time lords maintain an average body temperate of around fifty degrees fahrenheit. as long as nothing is too extreme in either direction, he is fine. but if he had to choose, he wouldn't want to be in the direct sunlight for hours & hours on end, of course. ▸ many acquaintances or a few close friends? : . . . the life of a time lord on the run means nothing but many acquaintances. he never stays in one place for a long period of time, how could anyone get to really know him? he always encourages others to forge lasting friendships with others however, & to never take them for granted. ▸ reading or playing a game? : reading. adric suggested game night in the TARDIS once upon a time, & it was a disaster.

▸ what are some of your muse's bad habits? : quick to trust, although is conditioned to be warier later in life. is known to be somewhat moody, & can get snappy at times. can talk for extended periods of time about nothing, just to keep a conversation going, even when the other person may just want some silence. gets kidnapped A LOT, although this isn't really something he can help. ▸ has your muse lost anyone close to them? how has it affected them? : many times. however in this lifetime, adric is his biggest regret. the guilt over what happened never left him. not a day goes by where he doesn't think about him, & what he could have done different. could he have bent the laws of time a bit to save him? SHOULD he have? adric was the last person on his mind before he regenerated. ▸ what are some fond memories your muse has? : with this face? . . . teaching adric how to fly the TARDIS ( and almost dying along with everyone else, adric was NOT A GOOD PILOT ) , preparing a candlelit dinner for tegan & nyssa, having a weekly book club with turlough ( the ginger did NOT want to be there. ) , being in the TARDIS garden with peri, sitting together & talking for hours on end about anything & everything while looking at the flowers . . . comes to mind. ▸ is it easy for your muse to kill? : when the situation calls for it & there is great evil at hand— when it's between the imminent threat or his companions & the lives of the innocent . . . how could he not? remember, he's great with a gun. ▸ what's it like when your muse breaks down? : he doesn't. no time for that! too many people depend on him, he's careful to never idle, & the fifth doctor is quite good at processing & dealing with his emotions in private ( so he thinks ) . his outlets include gardening, researching flora & fauna on foreign planets to fill the TARDIS databank, playing cricket & composing poetry. he doesn't cry, either, but if he's close enough with someone, having a conversation about the things that trouble him can be quite therapeutic. ▸ is your muse capable of trusting someone with their life? : . . . yes. ( delay intended. ) ▸ what's your muse like when they're in love? : when the fifth doctor does fall in love, the person he loves is likely already his best friend, as well. he's not as guarded when it comes to love as some of his other regenerations, & if it happens, he'll accept it pretty easily. not much will change, honestly, & he'll be fine not ever confessing. if a romantic relationship happens, he'll give them poems he's written for them & rare / hard to cultivate pressed flowers, take them around the universe to show them the places he thinks are the most beautiful & amazing, hold hands, learn how to go on dates ( does he looks like He Knows ) , partake in their hobbies alongside them & spend as much time with them as possible.

Do ya have any more headcannons about the whole Thingol and Melian you sometimes write about over here? I really like the concept of Thingol being Melian's thrall basically

Yes yes yes! It’s pretty much canon in my mind

So Thingol isn’t being mind controlled by Melian 24/7, it’s mostly during important events /decisions.

When it’s just an average day, Melian loosens her control over him (bc she’s a sadist) so that she can say she doesn’t control him all the time. Unfortunatly for him, when he isn’t being mind controlled, Melian is verbally and occasionally physically abusing him, so it’s a toss up on which he prefers: mind control, where he doesn’t have to think to much and isn’t constantly being hurt, or no mind controll, but he is constantly being hurt and gaslit.

By the time the noldo came to the eastern shores, Thingol has pretty much given up, which is why his personality switches between mind control and no mind control aren’t noticeable.

Furthermore, Melian likes to make herself out as the good guy, so she has Thingol act and decide things that actually she wants, but she herself will play as the disapproving, compassionate wife. This means that most elves, espescially the noldo who haven’t been around to witness the breaking down of thingol’s will, believe that Melian is the one to talk to in order to get Thingol to work with them, and it gives the impression that, if anything, Thingol is the abusive one in the relationship, essentially trapping Thingol, and preventing him from escaping due to social pressure.

Luthien knows exactly what’s going on, but other elves either 1. Don’t believe her (like her Noldorin cousins) or are not in a position to help her and Thingol completely. They might be able to keep melian down momentarily, but they can’t put a permanent stop to it unless they are willing to risk the eradication of all the sindar.

As mentioned in previous posts, this really leads to a “hear no evil, see no evil, speak no evil” mentality in the sindar, and even all the way to the third age the concept is pushed that Melian was merciful and Thingol was not.

Luthien, whenever she needs to get away from Melian’s abuse (with her it’s more verbal/gaslighting and watching her father get hurt), runs to Oropher, the head of house Edireth, bc he’s one of the only elves who has enough power to stop Melian in her tracks unless she’s willing to risk it all. She has a permanent room in his household, where she keeps all her diaries listing the abuse Melian has put her and Thingol through, bc she knows that if she keeps those diaries where Melian can access them, they’ll end up destroyed. This is her way of documenting proof of melian’s abuse bc she knows no one will believe her if she accusses he mother without proof.

Luthien is also pen palls with Lasgen, her cousin, god mother (Thingol was able to gain controll for enough time to make Lasgen Luthien’s god mother, bc he didn’t trust melian for one bit) and Oropher’s grand daughter, who lives (at this time) in the Arctic Empire (an Avari nation), and Lasgen has hundreds of letters where Luthien is venting about exactly what is happening in her home.

Also as mentioned in previous posts, Luthien didn’t only choose to marry, live and die with Beren bc she loved him, she also did it to escape her mother’s grasp.

However, Luthien’s departure from his life ultimately broke Thingol, and she’ll forever regret that.

Now, the ainur aren’t really good in this au, especially the valar, so when Thingol comes out of the halls, Melian gets control of him once again and the valar do nothing about it, and no one really helps him, bc everyone has been so gaslit into believing that Thingol is the bad guy and melian is the good guy, that no one even knows smth is going on.

Except Olwe, Ingwe, and Finwe that is.

And as much as they want to tear him away from Melian, they have to play the long game and little by little break Elwe away from that bitch.

It isn’t untill into the 5th age that they, with the help of other Avari and cuivienen elves (bc they are some of the only ones not blinded by the ainur’s powers), manage to fully destroy the marraige and chase Melian away from Elwe. Of course, this causes further chaos amongst the elves as a whole bc if Melian could succesfully make most of the elven population believe that she is the good guy, even though she’s just as bad as Sauron, what else are the ainur doing? Especially considering they didn’t intervene now that they were in valinor.
