god i need to get to writing my fic bc I feel like "talk more about it" would be solved just by me dropping the link This ended up being TOO LONG so I split it between me going feral about that bridge scene and then me going feral at other moments of nonverbal communication that I use to feed my Dom/sub "oh you two are just LIKE THAT" interpretation. So. here's part one

That bridge scene tho...im so normal about it

hhhggg god that bridge scene is one that I rotate in my brain so much because it is such a small moment that makes so much of their dynamic click. For me, specifically, it clicks the "submissive like a guard dog is submissive" dynamic, where Jayce is, on a surface level, the stronger and more forceful of the two while Viktor is the one actually holding the leash (until he's too tired to because he's dying, and I only half joke when I say that their issues at the end of season 1 are because Jayce is suddenly the equivalent of a dog holding it's own leash and getting stressed out about it.

Jayce's touching before the bridge come across as pretty overbearing honestly. He's holding his hand out to keep Viktor from speaking out...

Heck, while the still screenshot doesn't show it too well, Jayce slings an arm around Viktor with enough force that it knocks Viktor off balance for a second and shoves him forward a little.

Viktor got dragged to the hexgate when Jayce is looking into shipping discrepancies happening there, even though it obviously doesn't involve him and he does NOT want to be there.

(In hindsight this is a hilarious bit of showing that it did not occur to either of them that there's no goddamn reason for Viktor to be here. This is council business, Jayce outright says "I'm a councilor now Viktor" which does not answer why tf Viktor needs to be there. these twits just handle all problems as a unit lmao. The tragic flip is that this is could then be a breaking moment when Viktor goes back to the lab, realizing that him and Jayce are not, in actuality, a single unit anymore. because Jayce got a second job that is not Lab With Viktor oh my god you codependent dweebs)

Up until that point it would be really easy to see Jayce as being presumptive and unintentionally overpowering Viktor in personality. Heck, it's what I thought the dynamic was as I was watching Season 1, though even as I thought that it seemed somehow...not quite correct.

And then the bridge scene.

Even before the hand-smack, there's a flip on the reading up to this point that Jayce has been accidentally bowling over Viktor by force of personality/physicality. Jayce comes in hot, upset, angrily standing over Viktor and chewing him out, and Viktor is just like "....and??"

Viktor is calm if baffled and annoyed at Jayce's frustration (also; Viktor just rolling his eyes and shaking his head at the actual riot happening a few yards away? hilarious. i love him.) His almost nonchalantly confused tone when he asks "what difference does that make?" always gets me. the entire back and forth says, to me anyway, that Jayce may be more brash and socially competent, but he's not overpowering Viktor at all, actually.

Viktor is going to do whatever the fuck Viktor wants.

This is immediately made clear by the much beloved hand smack. Viktor doesn't even look up, and his smack shows that he is perfectly capable of setting a hard boundary on Jayce's touching, and that Jayce will IMMEDIATELY fold and apologize when that boundary is set. That smack makes it suddenly clear that when Jayce goes for the shoulder touch right after apologizing, Viktor consciously allows it.

idk WHY but I also love this little tiniest moment when Jayce is going for the second touch. Viktor glances back as Jayce approaches him (looking like a cat with its ears pinned back lmao), then looks away as he accepts the second touch and they move on. It's such a tiny detail of showing Viktor, who is still pretty pissed at Jayce, seeing the touch as it comes in and then deciding to let it happen. im rotating them in my mind. please send help

In my framing of them being a guard dog/handler dynamic, the bridge scene is us seeing a moment of the leash getting a sudden sharp tug to bring the guard dog to heel. It resets all the earlier instances as being ones that Viktor allows to happen, because he doesn't see a need to correct it.

fuck man this doesn't even get into the bridge scene as a major crack between them as the moment Viktor loses his trust that Jayce will understand his decision. i am unwell

[Name], who was sprawled lazily across the sofa, only glanced at the six year old briefly before turning his attention back to the t.v. in front of him. Light from the screen rapidly flashing on his face as a colorful toy commercial played. The feeling of his little brother's annoyed gaze not even phasing him as he ignored the boy.

"Grr... [NAME]!"

Tetta shouted as he roughly shook the h/c-ette's arm, trying to get the older's attention.

[Name] growls under his breath as he turns and glares at the little bespectacled boy. Lightly grabbing his shoulder as he shoves him backwards a little, making him stumble and fall on his bottom.

"God you're annoying..... Whaddya want?"

The h/c-ette grumbled as he leans his head on the palm of his hand.

Tetta huffed as he stood up off the floor and waddles over to the sofa, shoving the older's legs to the side and dramatically plopping onto the seat cushion.

"I wanted to ask you..... How— How do you tell a girl you like her?"

The bespectacled boy mutters timidly as he fiddles with his chubby fingers; already anticipating the teasing he's about to endure.

[Name] raised a brow at his brother's words; an amused smirk crawling its way across his lips as he holds back a snort. His annoying dweeb of a little brother has a crush on someone? The kid that whined about how annoying it was whenever [Name] brought his boyfriend over? The kid who swore up and down that he'd never be in a relationship because he'd rather be smart than in love? Oh, this is comedy gold.

"Pfft— You? Since when? What's so cool about this girl for you of all people to like her?"

The h/c-ette jeered; purposefully sitting up to make sure the younger has full view of his mean look.

Tetta groans quietly, already regretting his decision. But what other choice does he have? There's no one else the boy trusted more than his older with such a question.

".....She's... She's really nice to me...."

The small boy mumbles as he pushes his sliding glasses back into place.

"Pffffft— HAHAHAHAHA! That's it! That's hilarious!"

[Name] doubles over, cackling as he tries to hold himself up with the armrest, tears streaming from his eyes.

"Hehehehehe...hehehe... haaah... that was a laugh. Okay, Look brat, you're like... what? Five years old? You're practically still a fetus. You can't even do long division yet; you have no idea what love is."

He crosses his arms and shakes his head.

"If all this girl did was the bare minimum of being kind to you and you're 'falling in love', all of your relationships in the future are gonna be short, loveless and pathetic."

[Name] finishes, giving his little brother an unimpressed and somewhat disgusted look.

However the h/c-ette's eyes softened as he saw tears gathering and spilling over from behind Tetta's fogged glasses. His little body shaking with each silent sob; refusing to make a sound lest he be berated for that too. [Name] let out a sigh before wrapping his arms around the crying boy and pulling him into his lap. He hugged him tight; ignoring the younger's fruitless attempts to push him away.

The older hums quietly as he strokes his brother's head. Running his fingers through Tetta's short hair.

"I know..... I know... I'm so mean to you aren't I Tetta. I'm being an awful big brother to you, huh."

[Name] mumbles quietly as removes the younger's glasses and whipes away the tears from his pretty blue eyes.

"It's just tough love, m'kay? I love you so much, Tetta. I'm only trying to prepare you for the future. I don't want your heart to be broken when you can hardly understand how you feel yet."

Tetta looks up at [Name] with teary eyes as he sniffles; trying to wipe them away and only causing more to fall.

"I love... *sniffle* I love you too. Can we eat something? I'm hungry."

He mumbles, drying his tears with [Name]'s shirt as his stomach gurgles loudly.

"Alright, I'll order takeout."

The h/c-ette chuckles softly as he ruffles Tetta's hair.

Slasher Ashley x Final Girl Stranger? Thoughts? Prayers?

Funniest part would be the fact that slasher zombie Ashley could probably fold Slasher Stranger in half. She's a scholarship athlete and he was... what? A STEM major or some shit?

OUGH the concept...immaculate...especially because I'm still envisioning them as their usual personalities, so for Ashley to go from a bubbly sweetheart to a murderous stalker is delicious for angst

Because originally, Stranger was killed in a hazing accident whose death was then completely covered up by the school, which is way he came back for revenge. But Ashley? She'd be much more popular being a cheerleader and all her sorority sisters' best friend (well, most of 'em).

I feel like as a woman I probably don't need to go into too much detail about what her incident would be with drunk frat boys and maybe a few jealous mean girls at a house party. And rather than it be covered it, they'd probably all just blame her for her own death while the ones involved lose a few scholarship rewards. She shouldn't been drinking, she was flirty, she couldn't didn't say no, they didn't realized she had stopped breathing--

Yeah, all that kindness and sweetness in her died that night. She's coming back and she's coming back pissed. Kind of like Spirit from DBD, to just be so full of pain and rage about the injustice, to never know peace. Except for this one stranger in the frat house that night, who was just so polite and respectful and a little nervous in a cute way. Made sure she was okay, told her to be careful around the other guys, offered walk her back to her room though she declined.

And that is also objectively hilarious for him to be the final guy of the initial massacre and then her recurring obsession, because he's just...I dunno, him. Sure, he's got the "tall dark kinda handsome" thing going on, but he's such a dweeb. He's the guy that has at least 5 spots on the top 10 high scores on any given arcade cabinet. He's a compsci major. He's not a jock, he can't flirt with a girl to save his life, he's the lowest on the food chain in his fraternity (well...he was until Ashley butchered most of them).

So to have this beautiful girl be so head over heels for him that she'd kill anyone who gets in her way...idk he might be kind of into it lmao. Like, she pins him against the wall and his knees tremble. She tries to come onto him and he averts his eyes and stutters something. But he'd also feel so sorry for her, knowing who she is and what happened and how he wished he could have tried a little harder to convince her to go home instead of letting his awkwardness stop him. Which also further endears him to her, he's so compassionate! C'mon, babe, ignore the blood, we can make this work!

Another KID episode! Time for KID's Teleportation Magic!

I make it a habit to rewatch every new OP to see them but I hate the ones that push the romance between Shinichi and Ran. Yes, I know their relationship is a plot of this anime, but it's terrible and the OPs are giving people a false expectation of what it's actually like. Well, at least it had Kaito in it so that made it a little better. As much as I love seeing Kaito in the OPs I will not be watching that one again.

Anyway, time to focus on the amazing episode that this is!

Lol, they're discussing plans to present the jewels and one of them said put it in a block of ice. Well, you eventually do get a chance to use that plan, doesn't work though XD

Jirokichi is going to have a heart attack because of Kaito one day.

If Sonoko isn't the first one to clock that Shinichi has a massive crush on KID in fanfics I don't want it. She adores KID herself, she knows the signs.

Kaito is doing what he does best, performing in front of adoring fans, including his dear husband who is much harder to impress but he still always succeeds in doing so everytime.

If you had asked me about the WIPs, it would basically just be wildly out of context make outs!

🥺 Is there a certain type of moment or common interaction between your characters that never fails to put you in your feels?

I don't know that I feel strongly enough about my own writing to be "in the feels" about it as I'm writing, but I do have a soft spot for when the more emotionally closed off character lets their guard down a bit. The first use of a pet name is always a good one (when that first "baby" hits, just know that I'm patting myself on the back for throwing it in there), something I was NEVER one for until they had Selina Kyle use it so deftly in The Batman. (It's all about how COOL the person saying it is and how much of a dweeb the person they're saying it to is. Matt Reeves was a real one for translating that specific bit of their dynamic from the comics so well.)

🌞 Do you have a preferred time of day to write?

I almost always do the bulk of my writing at night. Alas, what I prefer (reasonably early at night, maybe when I don't have to be up early the next day) and what actually happens (always starts around 11pm the night before I have to be up at 6am the next morning to go to work and be on call) are not the same. Basically, nearly every fic that I have written in the past year has resulted in me being sleep deprived the next day.

✅ What's something that appears in your fics over and over and over again, even if you don't mean to?

Every once in a while, I see that tumblr post that is some variation of "look at me writing the same story again" (or conversely, Nick Miller's "there are only seven types of stories") and I feel like that's BASICALLY me these days? Am I just writing the longest "idiots fall in love" anthology? Sometimes the idiots are different and there are extenuating circumstances, sometimes they fall into hate first, sometimes they're not even gonna call it love, but that's essentially what I'm doing. One day, someone's gonna be like GIRL, FIND ANOTHER ANGLE and then maybe I'll tackle dog vs zombie.

Speaking of Nick Miller, I do feel like Jake Johnson was right on the money when he recently said, "Whenever I'm writing something, if there's not a love story, I don't know what it is." (Hilariously, he said that while promoting his movie Self-Reliance which only really works in the twenty minutes he lets it get rom-com lite with Anna Kendrick so he should've stuck with that instinct MORE.) I don't need or want all stories to be love stories, but I find that it grounds them a bit to have some sort of emotional connection involved. But recent fics aside, I'm also less of a plot-driven fic writer so of course I'm saying that. That said, I tend to usually have one person be wiser to the relationship dynamics than the other person. They're almost never on the same page until they are because I don't know how to sustain even my own interest if everyone is transparent about their feelings from the very beginning. Someone ALWAYS falls first and my favorite thing in the universe is to sprinkle just enough in it throughout so that when it finally clicks for the other person, it's not a shock that the robot has fallen in love. On a more superficial note, you're always gonna get some pop culture references in anything that I write.

What other animated Garths do you like?

SO I don't usually like Garth in something animated (TT cartoon and YJ cartoon are especially terrible imo) but there are some I tolerate:

I'm using tolerate here because I don't like the personality of Aqualad in Batman: The Brave and the Bold (they switch his and Speedy's personality for some reason, especially as very small kids?) but I really like this show and I think it's a really funny depiction of Garth and Arthur's relationship because Arthur is really dismissive of him and puts him in danger regularly. His character design is great, they keep him in the square cut shorts and give him curly hair.

The 1967s cartoon I do enjoy, it's just cute and fun. Aqualad Also Aqualad keeps getting traumatic head injuries. Again, his design is really cute and faithful to the comics.

DC Super Hero Girls. Garth is so freaking cute and funny in this show. "You hypocrite!" you shout, "they change so much about him in that show!" But what do I always say about changing something about a character? You need to add something of equal or greater value in its place. Is DCSHG accurate about anything? No. But it's operating on a very niche idea, where each character is one singular US high school trope and it's aimed for young girls. Everyone was watered down to a single trait and their backstories are adjusted to make it logical that they are all in school together. Making Garth the dweeb is a really hilarious interpretation of his character, he maintains his big heart and is very emotional but he isn't really bullied for it. He actually has a really big, supportive group of friends! Which is more than I can say for any other version of Garth. It's also funny to me that they would use Garth for this show; all the other characters, except Karen, are people who are typically older than him in canon and he rarely interacts with. And once again, he has a GREAT character design. For what DCSHG is, what genre it's operating in, and how he fits into the story being told, I think he's a fine version of Garth.

But like they could be in a hospital: Goose for a checkup about the injuries caused by the Canopy accident, and Hangman for a general checkup after a mission. They're in the same room. And they end up talking. They hit it off so fast it's like platonic soulmates at first sight. AND THEY'RE HONKING LIKE TOTAL DWEEBS! SAME KIND OF HUMOUR AND EVERYTHING!

I do have a lot of feelings about Hangman and Goose and all the could have been's! (It's always the 'could have been's with Hangster, isn't it?).

It's interesting that Hangman and Goose generally have an immediate negative connotation because of the classroom incident, but I really think they would have hit it off right away (as you said in your tags—duh of course! Goose would get along with Mav 2.0), which is especially funny when Hangman and Rooster did not! I can imagine a mellower Rooster huffing on the phone with his dad during flight school about Hangman this and Hangman that (and Goose nodding along but you can see his smirk from space because yeah, absolutely painfully familiar), and then they figure it out, and Rooster brings him home. And Jake is actually nervous, which is a first. Because in my heart, Jake is a romantic and doesn't care for casual, exactly like he doesn't care for mediocrity in the sky. He only goes all-in or not at all, and when he met Rooster he knew. Add that, again in my heart, Jake is a good southern boy, proper old-fashioned (I'm picturing him showing up with flowers for Carole). So makes sense that he would be worried about making a good first impression on Rooster's parents. And maybe if his relationship with his own father is strained, and in his point of reference fathers are angry and distant, and then Nick is so sunny and chill and hilarious and let's not forget QUICK-WITTED—like, affectionately, Goose is also a lil bit of a bastard too, which would delight Hangman. So yeah, as I said, they would have gotten along alright!

Kind of unrelated but related, once I thought about this au where guardian angels are real, and after his death Goose becomes Hangman's guardian angel and is there watching over him during his first kill. And then when Hangman saves his boys during the mission it all comes full-circle. Also it was really amusing to me picturing Goose getting second-hand embarassed when Bradley keeps putting a foot in his mouth with Hangman because 'That's no way to treat a mister, son!'

to be honest, i think it's one of the better parts, even if the pacing is very messy, almost as bad with part 5's (sorry). jolyne is genuinely a very intriguing character, someone who starts off.. not exactly whiny? but definitely becomes more mature as the story progresses. her and stone free are very well-matched in terms of story meaning ^_^ which i think is one of araki's biggest strengths.

just being honest here; pucci is a better antagonist than dio. admittedly dio is not as serious as a villain as people act like, but seriously. i barely know anything about pucci besides the inference that he got whitesnake when he was young, so dio brought him into his cult, similar to kakyoin, though obviously sans fleshbud. even being such a manipulative guy, he seems to honestly be doing what he sees as best for the world, which is a nice change of pace from other villains. there's probably some deep bibilical subtext that i'm missing from him, though, and i hope araki talks more about him. very intrigued. go on jeopardy king <3

hermes.. oh sweet sweet hermes.. her disappearance after the kiss of love & revenge pisses me off. unlike kakyoin, who was more minor in the crusaders, hermes received good character development, an established personality, and a creative, realistic dynamic with both jolyne and foo. i literally do not understand why she has been written out for so long. i HOPE she comes back next, but jeezus, do i miss her.

foo fighters is perfect i cannot type about them without crying just know how angry i am about their waste of death that contributed.. nothing? to the story. like at all. if anyone can tell me why f.f.'s death was needed for so to progress i will give them actual fucking money.

emporio is a very interesting take on the "helpful child" character for me and i live in fear of anything worse happening to him. genuinely hoping that araki elaborates on his early life; how did he survive in the prison before weather? was weather there for longer? tell me things about him.

weather report is such an obvious hook for a plot i kinda can't say anything i just have to sit there and wait.

in terms of villains.. it's kinda hilarious how so far all the decent/good/deranged ones have been women and all the lame dweebs have been men. i honestly forget the names of everyone who isn't gwess, miraschon, miu miu, or sports maxx. i only remember sports maxx bc he's actually Threatening and Important, and because when i innocently asked my mother what limp bizkit was she went on a tirade about how much they suck, and played me a cover of "faith" by them which proved her point. i'm pretty sure he and miu miu are related because they're both blond with fucked eyebrows.

uhh running out of things to ramble about.. oh wait stands!

i've heard that some of the stand abilities are too strange, but i disagree. the only one this applies to is dragon's dream, which is probably just because it's hard to communicate that through just illustration. otherwise, the abilities are creative and bonkers, with even the simpler ones being used super creatively. i've always thought that araki can make even the blandest power somewhat interesting; in any other show, i doubt stone free/turning yourself into string would be used in such versatile ways. it would probably be relegated to long-range attacks at best. however, i do find a lot of them needlessly complicated design-wise. random spikes and shapes adorn them, which is annoying to look at sometimes. i do love how some of them, like green green grass, yo-yo-ma, and foo fighters (<3) look like little creatures, beasts even.

also anasui is one of the worst characters araki has written, he has none of the weird girl swag and all of the freakiness of yukako, made worse by being guilty of murder. when pucci-as-weather almost killed him i actually cheered. even his design can not save him. i do not understand why anyone likes this man unironically (calling him your horrible blorbo is okay but actually thinking he's cool and a good character ? 🤨 what)

It's Jamil's birthday again! I didn't really plan for anything special this time around but I also don't want to ignore how much I like him. Jamil is one of those characters who is kind of stuck in his old ways. Like, he's a guy who would rather do something practical and expected rather than taking a risk on himself...that doesn't result in an OB.

But first let's talk a little bit about the new interview!

Ok so these Bloom Broom interviews are a little more juicy than the ones before. We dig right in to learn about Jamil's aspirations. I'm absolutely gagging about his desire to travel and learn in general. He's lived a sort of sheltered life and it's probably taken a toll on him. I think we also got a little taste of how he feels about his parents too.

He seems to learn from them but it looks like he isn't inspired by them. I totally get it too. All your life, your family sits up there and nerfs your skills bc of their clients and now you're able to rebel, grow and become an individual. Some parents are well intentioned but completely out of touch with their babies. I think that's what's happening here. It doesn't seem like he or Najima have anything against their parents so I'm assuming he's just ready to break free and grow up.

Jamil needs to be more impulsive. As the embodiment of scarabia, it's probably a tall order for him. Impulsiveness is probably like asking a fish to fly-weird but possible. Jamil is thoughtful with everything he says and does so maybe he needs a silly bitch moment. As a treat. Also i didn't know he had friends. That's kind of funny. Speaking of which

Ooh i wanna talk about his relationships at NRC. Well, some of them. Ships. I wanna talk about who i ship him with.

Kalim: Now, im legally obligated to ship him with Kalim because their relationship is interesting to me. Its not my FAVORITE, but I think that their dynamic is a lot more fond than Jamil would claim. At the end of chapter 4, Jamil refuses Kalim's offer of friendship. But did he though? I don't think so because he still dotes on Kalim. He still looks after him and keeps the dorm running. They need each other to function.

What i like about them is that they are growing closer by being a part and when they graduate, who knows where they'll go. I also think Kalim is Jamil's lightening rod in a way. Jamil is usually pretty reserved with his feelings through social stratification but there are times where Jamil gets mad at Kalim and puts him in his place. Their power dynamics are muddled. While Kalim has the social status over Jamil, Jamil has more control than one would think. Maybe its bc Kalim is aware of that so he volunteers to be the punching bag or maybe hes more self aware than he lets on? I want to see more of them with their own friends but coming together when it counts.

Azul: These two may be my favorite Jamil ship. Partly because of how Jamil rebukes Azul's praise but also because they're alike and Jamil doesn't like that for some reason. I get it bc Octa is full of dweebs who emotionally manipulate people. But isn't that what Jamil did in chapter 4? Isn't hiding who you really are just as toxic? Azu sees Jamil and he doesn't like it. But i think someone like Azul encouraging him is kind of endearing. Jamil's got a whole fan club but he's like "do not perceive me." But they do. And Azul is fuckin obsessed with him.

But i also wonder if something happened in the past that flipped that switch for them. What did Jamil do that made Azul go "yup thats wifey right there" and did Azul do something that turned Jamil off? It'd be cute if we got vignettes of the characters from previous years. Sure it'd be superfluous but im a slut for backstory.

I also love how Azul is so fucking nice to Jamil and he's like "What's his damage go away." Like, he wants nothing to do with this lil white boy. It's hilarious and I'm here for their antics.

There's other ships but these two stand out to me the most bc they're lore based.

Wait, before i go, I wanna point out how the ENG game does this boy so dirty. First, they downplay his family's servitude to the Al Asims. Then they make Rook call him Mr. Pyramid. THEN they redact the words master when anyone says it in context of scarabia characters??

The vipers' social class is a major plot point of chapter 4. It's vital to understanding caste systems and the precarious situation low income families have when they work in the service industry. Jamil wants to teach his parrot to say "master." In English, they changed it to "hello". Jamil want a parrot to call him master. He's a fucked up kid and it's being declawed by whatever censorship department has to look at these TLs.

Matter of fact, it's WEIRD how much they redact Scarabia plot points and characterization. And it makes the team look lazy at best and extremely racist at worst. Aladdin is one of those movies that is loaded with a lot of...ahem dated views on middle eastern people. The "remake" didn't really do much for anyone (well, the guy who played Jafar was sexy as fuck which is true to the sourc) but i refuse to acknowledge remakes when cross referencing twst. Where was I?

Oh yeah Jamil is kinda fucked in the head and a lot of fans are pretty in tune with his trauma, especially because it's class based. Baby boy puts too much stock into that. His culture enforces it. He's been beaten into following the rules of society and its showing.

I don't really have too much else to say this year, but who knows, maybe there's a lot more ahead for our lil hiss hiss. I love Jamil. Hes very handsome and I swoon anytime i look at him. Happy birthday baby boyyyy!

Confession: Jamil is one of those characters that I only like because of how hot he looks. It's his eyes. I like toxic men and that's on a period. He just has this slutty look that drives me nuts sometimes. But let's save all that thirst trapping for later.

Now, onto Lil Hiss Hiss

I know that Octavinelle Jamil goes hard and slaps, but he's right to say that Ignihyde would be best for him. He's pretty perceptive and he'd catch onto technology pretty quickly. He's also got the makings of a great leader, which Ignihyde seems to lack most of the time

Idia was forced into his position, so he would probably give it to Jamil with no problems. The issue, however, is that Igni is a bit TOO introverted. Jamil seems to adapt to social situations when he has to, but these geeks seem like the type to avoid human interaction at most costs. Their team does the worst and is barely an inconvenience for the others. They aren't sporty or active, and Jamil will have trouble with motivating them to try harder. As for Diasomnia, Sebek may be onto something.

Sure, he's speaking out of staunch pride, but Jamil does have an elegance that doesn't go ignored. He would fit in with that aspect, as well as his introversion. Diasomnia has that motivation despite how close-knit they are.

They are powerful and mysterious, but not phony. Jamil wants to be upfront and honest with the people he trusts and I think he would be comfortable with Diasomnia. He seems to like Jack because of this. Jack is pretty straightforward, which is hard to find in NRC.

I think that if circumstances were different, they'd make pretty good friends. Jack probably wouldn't vibe with how Jamil tried to overthrow Kalim, but Jamil seems to like Jack's values about loyalty. He would learn what it takes to be a great leader w/o magic.

Which i think is what Jamil needs to learn. He may have lost to nepotism in Scarabia, but what can Jamil bring to the table that makes him better than Kalim? Kalim is sensitive to others and their feelings, something that is needed to lead.

Jamil doesn't trust his own abilities to persuade people so he used magic to control everyone. Clearly, he is capable of the work, but he's got Impostor Syndrome. Hes internalized his family's servitude despite Kalim only wanting friendship from Jamil.

It's clear that no matter how much Kalim tries to get Jamil to just let loose, Jamil won't. He's insecure. I mean, yeah, he's a Virgo, so that makes sense. He won't let loose because he's his own critic.

Kalim will go on and on about how great Jamil is but Jamil is too stuck in his own head to see his worth. And he's right. Jamil is amazing at everything he does. But unfortunately, the only person standing in the way of his development is himself.

All in all, Jamil is just trying to live his life and I respect that. But he also should let Kalim in a bit more. They have different outlooks on life, but they balance each other out in a good way.

Yeah lmao considering how Sylvain is referred to as a womanizer, it implies he's actually had success with flirting. Lorenz is probably an over-the-top dweeb in comparison 😂 I just really want to see Lysithea roasting people because she looks like a smol savage.

Sylvain seeing this tiny shy girl and big bro instincts activate so he tries to get Bernadetta out of her shell and she gets so stressed from being forced to socialise and misunderstands that he's harassing her for no reason

I'd also be interested in Hilda's supports with Sylvain and Ferdinand. Like, the guys in the Golden Deer probably know better than to fall for Hilda's charms so she outsources to the other houses but then she regrets catching Sylvain's eye lmao (because he's good at flirting and she doesn't want to be the one falling to another's charms? because he's a big bro type and reminds her of her coddling older brother? Possibilities are endless). Or Ferdinand knows what she's doing and nags at her to hold herself "as a noble should" but he gets tricked ANYWAY into doing her homework for her, that'd be hilarious.

Also imagine if Hilda was actually really great at fighting but few outside the Golden Deer know because she's always loafing off and acting like a little ol' damsel. Then one day Felix notices and HOUNDS her for a spar and she gets so freaking stressed because can you not expose me like this? I don't want people to take me seriously! They'd expect things from me!

Actually, any support from Felix, Ferdinand, Lorenz, Sylvain and Hilda would be my jam. They have HUGE dumbass energy and I'm here for it.

Mm Caspar-Felix support would also be good... Caspar-Ingrid would be hilarious too because I can imagine her being tired all the time ala "oh no my headache is back" whenever she sees him. Hilda-Linhardt being lazybums and avoiding work together. Hilda-Dorothea would be gossipy together and we learn a lot about the other characters from their support lmao.

I'm just thinking in terms of which supports have the potential to be really funny. On the serious side of things, Lysithea-Linhardt and Lysithea-Ferdinand could be interesting, since she seems to have criticism over nobles and their placing too much importance on crests or something along those lines. Dorothea-Marianne could be Wholesome Content, cos Dorothea looks like a genki social butterfly and would see this tol gloomy girl and try to cheer her up. Felix-Petra could be good, and Ashe-Bernadetta... Annette and Lysithea being nerds? Linhardt and Ignatz being nerds? If Hilda turns out to be a retainer to Claude, Hubert clashing with her over how one should act to a liege would also be interesting (but impossible since we can't recruit retainers lol). Mercedes-Bernadetta! The mum friend and smolest child would be so soft and calm wow.

But...

Writing this though, I realised... What if you start a support AFTER timeskip? Is it the exact same support as the pre-timeskip or will it be darker, heavier, more serious? Would we get conversations about how the recruited character feels about betraying their nation? Would IntSys go that extra mile to make me angst and waste time trying to get all the potential supports? My god this is too much lmao

Honestly, the most interesting thing about recruiting students from other houses is possible supports they cauld have, and hopefully they do.

Personally I want a support between Mercedes and Edelgard about why she left her status of nobility in Adrestia to live as a commoner in Faerghus. To be honest, it doesn't even need to be Edelgard. Maybe it'sjust someone who used to know her from her old social circles. Or maybe it would be Hubert, who might be suspicious of her entering the Black Eagles after leaving the empire.

wen junhui: because this boy is more than a triple threat he acts really well, can play the piano also really well, is REALLY academically intelligent, pulls off dance like its nbd and has had to learn Korean and can now be the chi-kor mc if he needs to. pls don't underestimate jun because underneath all the good looks he also has so much more to him. warning bc he can also be greasy af but other than that he's good

kwon soonyoung: fun fact you may know him as svt's impossibly talented choreographer but know that he could have been placed in vocal unit but decided to be put in performance unit so he could choreograph. also remember that he's a '96 liner with such a huge responsibility but he still pulls it off with a smile and for a boy his age to be doing all this is just so humbling and amazing?? he's also really funny and is really such a warm member of the group. also remember everything revolves around him i'm pretty sure 10:10 has become pledis' auspicious timing

jeon wonwoo: because you may think this boy is really quiet and might be cold but he's really not that. he's passionate about what he does, and always gives his 200% no matter what. (he's going to be that one seungcheol has to yell at to go sleep or take a break bc he's sick and will want to keep working) his voice is deeper than the ocean and when he smiles it genuinely feels like nothing could be wrong in the world and it'll make you question why you ever thought he could be a cold person. also be careful bc his jawline could cut through diamond

lee jihoon: because this boy is the reason why we have amazing songs we can use to introduce these 13 idiots to our friends. he works so. incredibly. hard. and is so dedicated to his work and puts so much pressure on himself to give nothing but all of himself and if you ever think he's only that kid with the coloured hair who's cute i will sit you down and change your mind. reminder that he's still so young, with so much responsibility i'm just really in awe of him

lee seokmin: because this boy is literally a ray of sunshine LOOK AT HIS SMILE. he's also hilarious(go watch andromeda episodes with him in it and slowly fall in love) and has such an impressive set of vocals on him seriously you need to carefully listen to this boy. idk why he's so underrated because he's actually got everything going on for him. also his face is literally so aesthetically pleasing ill just stop before i embarrass myself

kim mingyu: because this boy is a hUGE DWEEB. his height is insane idk what he eats but dAmn. pretty sure he's the definition of gentle giant because even though he's the tallest he's also so adorable and warm and deserves to be on the cover of gq and all the magazines. he also loves eating and can manage to look chill af even when he's in an eating competition (which he won btw go watch svt's qmentary)

xu minghao: BECAUSE THIS BOY IS THE EMBODIMENT OF ADORABLE. he works really hard to improve his korean and is that one who's really quiet but he catches everything. he's super supportive of his boys and will always be prepared to shoot anyone a supportive grin or nod or just any affirmation because he's so full of love. also loves dogs so he'll probably adopt 10 with you if you're willing. but underneath everything also watch out for this boy bc he's also a gangster (redirects you to all the photos where he's pointing the middle finger) and his b-boying will literally take ur breath away be careful

boo seungkwan: because he's so precious. he's the moodmaker of the group and is the reason why we get to learn so much about svt?? think about how effortlessly he can helm an interview or run andromeda and it's really through him that we get to see who seventeen is. not everyone can help bring 13 people to life but seungkwan does that so easily. also his vocals are to die for he's seriously SO talented and he deserves all the happiness. he also works really hard for what he wants,and i just know he will succeed. he loves his mum a lot which is so precious

hansol vernon chwe: because he's such a distinctive rapper and again, he's really dedicated to what he believes in and what's he's passionate about. he will fight for what he wants and won't simply keep quiet about what bothers him. this boy has a fire in him and he's really brave (although idk this might get him into trouble some day lol) he's also a really sweet boy to be honest, despite everything.

lee chan: because this boy is an amazing dancer. seriously, this kid is only 16 but the way he dances makes it look like he's been practicing for 20 years and his passion is so so admirable. he can choreograph, and does help soonyoung with it, which is amazing?? he has so much potential to go so far and really, if we're lucky enough to watch him grow older and as svt gains more experience, we'll get to see so much of Chan. he's also actually really cheesy and can be a romantic so ~
