Sat here and combed through all your jayvik analysis posts giggling and kicking my feet but PLEASE tell me more about the whole dom/sub thing, especially the whole “they have absolutely not discussed that this is the dynamic, it just happens and neither of them acknowledge it” because that is genuinely so interesting. Like I could already tell Viktor had hella ‘quiet calm collected dom’ vibes especially compared to jayce’s ‘excited protective puppy who would FOLD at being called a good boy’ energy…
But the whole bit on the bridge where Viktor smacks his hand away without even looking? And Jayce EARNS BACK TOUCHING PRIVELEGES? Fucking scrumptious please tell me more.
god i need to get to writing my fic bc I feel like "talk more about it" would be solved just by me dropping the link This ended up being TOO LONG so I split it between me going feral about that bridge scene and then me going feral at other moments of nonverbal communication that I use to feed my Dom/sub "oh you two are just LIKE THAT" interpretation. So. here's part one
That bridge scene tho...im so normal about it
hhhggg god that bridge scene is one that I rotate in my brain so much because it is such a small moment that makes so much of their dynamic click. For me, specifically, it clicks the "submissive like a guard dog is submissive" dynamic, where Jayce is, on a surface level, the stronger and more forceful of the two while Viktor is the one actually holding the leash (until he's too tired to because he's dying, and I only half joke when I say that their issues at the end of season 1 are because Jayce is suddenly the equivalent of a dog holding it's own leash and getting stressed out about it.
Jayce's touching before the bridge come across as pretty overbearing honestly. He's holding his hand out to keep Viktor from speaking out...
Heck, while the still screenshot doesn't show it too well, Jayce slings an arm around Viktor with enough force that it knocks Viktor off balance for a second and shoves him forward a little.
Viktor got dragged to the hexgate when Jayce is looking into shipping discrepancies happening there, even though it obviously doesn't involve him and he does NOT want to be there.
(In hindsight this is a hilarious bit of showing that it did not occur to either of them that there's no goddamn reason for Viktor to be here. This is council business, Jayce outright says "I'm a councilor now Viktor" which does not answer why tf Viktor needs to be there. these twits just handle all problems as a unit lmao. The tragic flip is that this is could then be a breaking moment when Viktor goes back to the lab, realizing that him and Jayce are not, in actuality, a single unit anymore. because Jayce got a second job that is not Lab With Viktor oh my god you codependent dweebs)
Up until that point it would be really easy to see Jayce as being presumptive and unintentionally overpowering Viktor in personality. Heck, it's what I thought the dynamic was as I was watching Season 1, though even as I thought that it seemed somehow...not quite correct.
And then the bridge scene.
Even before the hand-smack, there's a flip on the reading up to this point that Jayce has been accidentally bowling over Viktor by force of personality/physicality. Jayce comes in hot, upset, angrily standing over Viktor and chewing him out, and Viktor is just like "....and??"
Viktor is calm if baffled and annoyed at Jayce's frustration (also; Viktor just rolling his eyes and shaking his head at the actual riot happening a few yards away? hilarious. i love him.) His almost nonchalantly confused tone when he asks "what difference does that make?" always gets me. the entire back and forth says, to me anyway, that Jayce may be more brash and socially competent, but he's not overpowering Viktor at all, actually.
Viktor is going to do whatever the fuck Viktor wants.
This is immediately made clear by the much beloved hand smack. Viktor doesn't even look up, and his smack shows that he is perfectly capable of setting a hard boundary on Jayce's touching, and that Jayce will IMMEDIATELY fold and apologize when that boundary is set. That smack makes it suddenly clear that when Jayce goes for the shoulder touch right after apologizing, Viktor consciously allows it.
idk WHY but I also love this little tiniest moment when Jayce is going for the second touch. Viktor glances back as Jayce approaches him (looking like a cat with its ears pinned back lmao), then looks away as he accepts the second touch and they move on. It's such a tiny detail of showing Viktor, who is still pretty pissed at Jayce, seeing the touch as it comes in and then deciding to let it happen. im rotating them in my mind. please send help
In my framing of them being a guard dog/handler dynamic, the bridge scene is us seeing a moment of the leash getting a sudden sharp tug to bring the guard dog to heel. It resets all the earlier instances as being ones that Viktor allows to happen, because he doesn't see a need to correct it.
fuck man this doesn't even get into the bridge scene as a major crack between them as the moment Viktor loses his trust that Jayce will understand his decision. i am unwell
#arcane#jayvik#we are going back to 2014 tumblr era of analyzing body language frame by frame i am in my element#i think im the only one who loves that little side eye viktor shoots as Jayce goes for touch number two#he looks like a cat lashing its tail and considering another smack

The blonde layed there, bruised and broken, beaten to a pulp, watching the culprit getaway, holding her sister, and her child, both badly injured bleeding, the other blonde sister had taken a big blow to the head cracking it open, shattered bones in the arm's, with cut-up legs, she could only imagine her pain was less than hers, her dull eyes shifted to her child, being carried over the shoulder, blood dripping out of her mouth, shaking out of shock and pain.
She couldn't take seeing them both hurt, she tried to get up but could barely move her arms to lift her body off the ground a bit, her arm covered in cuts shooting with pain, her legs shattered, slowly going numb. Lex blinked away the tears of pain, pushing herself to move her arms and legs, she refused to give up and lose, the two she cared about the most, trying to ignore the pain, with a scratchy voice she called out to the captive, "put them down...and..come and fight me…" she growled still struggling to get on her feet "I may be buried but I'm not beaten!!"
She shouts soon coughing her lungs out "tch d-dammit" she groaned in pain "you look like your done..I'm not wasting my power on you.." the said turning to look at her "heh...you scared that I'm gonna kick your ass!" She smirked, trying to egg them on so they drop her loved ones "hmmm how about I end this" they said letting star go raising his arm aiming his attack at the struggling blonde "and here I thought you were supposed to be strong, with the power of a guardian angel running through you, as well as the power of a dragon.. pathetic." They smile darkly as they launch their attack at her.
She didn't have a chance to move, the attack hit her head on,
amplifying the pain tenfold, causing her to scream out in pain, knocking her out as she hits a tree, "maybe if you tried harder you would have had a chance" was the last words she heard.
As she slowly opened her eyes she was blinded by bright lights "huh...Where am I?" She mumbled trying to sit up, she felt a burst of pain from her arms, and they felt Heavy, she looked at her arms noticing there in casts, she looked at them confused before looking around the room " what the...where am I..a hospital??" She asked herself, there was a knocking on her door, she turned her head to the door as it slowly opened to see one of her friends peaking "hey she's up"
Pandora said opening the door more as her friends enter the room "glad to see your up" Sayaka said bluntly "yeah you gave us a pretty bad scare" Tenshi said softly placing a plate on her nightstand,
"Sorry about that…" lex mumbles, "how did I get here?" She asked looking at her friends "nkita managed to call me and the paramedics by the time we got there, you nkita and void were about to be picked up by them" Julianna answers her question
"about that do you know where star and amaniz are? We tried calling the-" Pandora stopped halfway through her sentence when she noticed lex's shocked expression "they really got them.." lex mumbles trying not to cry "about that care to explain why you went to go fight when you were still recovering from you last job" azale asks her "I had to.. they were hurt...I had a bad feeling if I didn't" she sighed trying to move her legs, but felt they were in the cast too "what about nkita and void how are they?!" Lex asked panicked" were not sure yet we checked up on them yesterday but they were knocked out, " Devon said.
"Lex...I think you should tell us what happened" azale pointed out "or at least tell us what the attacker looked like" Constance chimed in "I….I" lex tried to tell them but her memory was hazy. All she got were little flashes of what happened.
Her breath got shakey, as she remembers how much she messed up, using a big attack out of lack of judgment, trying to let amaniz and star run to safety. Letting herself go trying to learn the attackers' magic, and how they fight, but she failed to pay attention, worrying too much about her family, leaving herself wide open, letting them get a good shot near her chest. Slowly mumbling to herself about how stupid she is unable to protect her sister and child as her eyes slowly turned back to normal, losing their dullness as her eye’s filled with tears “they were right there...and I couldn't do anything...I'm pathetic"
she cried "...then let's go get em," Cole said walking to the blonde's bed "huh…" "let's go get them back..once your Heald up we'll go looking for them" Cole answered "what! No way if the guy managed to fuck up lex nkita and void that bad there's no way we could stand a chance" Cherry shouted, "Well your wrong if all of us go together we can get them back!!" Obara shouted at her "hey now let's not fight..we should be careful though it might have been the same person who tried to kidnap Azusa,..and-" Sayaka was interrupted by a knock at the door "Sorry for interrupting but I need to talk alone with lexiy" a doctor said ".....alright let's go check on the others"Lizzy patted Devon's shoulder "good idea get better soon lex" Tenshi waved as the left the room.
{Mini time skip}
You should be able to move your arms and legs a bit now but I have to advise you to not use your Maley attack's for a few months so that the tissue heals...and about your lacrima heart we replaced it with a stronger one it should last you 5 years or so." The doctor said wrapping up her leg
"also you need to take it easy..your body is still recovering from the shock your lucky your friend gem was able to recover the badly damaged parts..you can be disregarded in a few days...but if you lose feeling in your legs take one of these" he hands her a few bottles of pills "lose feeling in my legs??" She asked "yes your leg bones were shared to pieces with a lot of internal bleeding your Nevers weren't connected either I'm surprised you manage to push through the pain" the doctor said in shock standing up "you should rest we'll call in gem to come and heal you some more..who knows if your lucky you can be discharged in two days" he said leaving. Lex looked down swinging her legs a bit "there's that bad feeling again..I need to go make sure everything is o-" she couldn't finish her sentence after being whacked with a massive amount of pain-causing her to pass out...
____________
Everyone got home to a surprise that night. “Julianna looked around the mansion in shock “what happened here,” she said in shock the mansion was a mess there were blood patches everywhere. Shu sniffed around “that's Viktor and Elias blood I smell” he sai quitely “what!” devon shouted quickly rushing to his sister's room noticing the doors broken “Elisa?” he looked in her room seeing scratch marks and bloodstains, his breathing became uneven. It soon hit him she was taken. Julianna looked around noticing there was a big blood puddle “it isn't like Viktor to up and leave like that...unless he was taken too” she said in disbelief “where’s azusa..” ruki said “kanato’s missing too” laito added “was it the same person who took star and amaniz” reiji question as the front door slammed open “WHERES ANYA!!” Subaru shouted in a panicked state with Tenshi following right after him
“huh, you couldn't find her either huh,” ayato said “not to mention valla and athenia are missing too,” Tenshi said trying to calm her breathing. “We should head out to the others and make sure their saf-” glasses didn't even get a chance to speak when pandora kicked the front door open “WHERES GREMLY AND TCUP!!”
she screamed with furfur right behind her “them too huh?” cole said walking through the busted up doors with Elina right behind him "manu and soon-bok went missing too" Elina sighed "so someone's targeting all of us" Simon said causing most of them to jump from his random appearance "so who do we know who could be doing this?" Lys asked
"I say chara.. she's the only one of us that can beat any of us easy without dying.." Devon mumbled in a rotten mood "who the hell is Chara" Pandora asked "I'll explain on our way back to the hospital" Devon's said walking out the door, with the others slowly following behind him.

(Hi I'm going to scream here bc u said it's ok to do so) ur fics r a blessing. Btw now i kind of need the Compliment Yuuri Party to be a thing in my life. I have so many feelings about this boy; he's so freaking amazing He moved all alone to another country to achieve his dream. Even before vitya came into his life, he was already japan's top skater and made it to the gpf; and wle dealing with anxiety! I wish he was more aware of how amazing he is. Im so proud and just want to hug him, really
YES this is exactly the right place to come screaming about Katsuki Yuuri’s appreciation i’m open to it 24/7 and also aaahhhhhh you’re so nice im??? thank you;;;;;;
Okay hear me out we can’t have a real party because of dumb multiverse theories where the characters don’t really technically exist in this reality but I’m gonna throw the hot, sweet potato to someone who can and is absolutely in line with our constant “I love Katsuki Yuuri and everything that he stands for” mood.
(I posted this on ao3 too!)
Viktor goes to every length to make it happen. He waits for an occasion where most of them would be in the same place, makes arrangements for the others to fly in. It’s right at the end of the World Championship. (Yuuri takes gold, because of course.)
He makes Yuuri dress up nicely (he’s too powerful in just a thin shirt that once was Viktor’s and sweatpants, and Viktor isn’t ready to give a body count to the press), drags him to the restaurant with no real explanation. He tells him, if anything makes you uncomfortable we’ll come back to the hotel right away. Yuuri gives a pleased smile and a nod, they’re just getting dinner, why would he- except their table is filled with everyone.
Like, literally, everyone. Except for his parents, because traveling is too stressful for them (but Viktor already promised Mama a redo at the onsen, if everything goes well, so that’s no matter). Yuuri gapes at all the eyes looking at them, starts to ask, but Viktor curls a hand around his hip and steers him towards the empty chairs, right in the middle of the other seats. “Consider this a celebration for your gold,” he whispers, a satisfied smile playing at his lips, and Yuuri sits down and decides to go with it.
Phichit is quick to envelope him into a bone crushing hug, suffocating all the other questions he may have, and everyone else shouts their greetings over the table. Viktor is still standing beside him, and he claps twice, making the noise die down instantly. Yuuri is kind of turned on by that kind of power, and he’ll make sure to tell him later. But now Viktor is saying, with his delighted tone “Welcome, everyone! Thank you for coming!”
Phichit keeps an arm around his shoulders and whoops. “Are we doing it now or later?” he asks, and dread starts whispering in Yuuri’s ear. Doing what now?
“Now, of course!” is the reply, and then Viktor sits down, takes Yuuri’s hands in his. “My darling,” Viktor interrupts his bubbling questions again, “I’m so grateful for every moment you spend with me. You showed me what life and love were after so much time I have ignored them.” Yuuri can do nothing except squeeze his hands tightly and flush. “I-” he starts, but Chris, to the left of Viktor, doesn’t let him finish.
“Yuuri, chéri, thank you for all the times you helped me fit into my costumes,” he winks, and Yuuri has flashbacks to every time he’s had to adjust the too tight spandex around the Swiss’ magnificent ass. “And for the pole dancing, of course,” Chris adds, a last blow to Yuuri’s already gaping, boiling face.
It doesn’t stop there. Everyone around the table has something to say, clockwise. Georgi thanks him for helping him with his make-up and consoling his love woes (he tears up at that), Mila thanks him for all the selfies. “He’s not the worst thing that has ever happened to me,” Yuri Plisetsky says, face closed off.“That means you’re the best thing that ever happened to him,” Mila translates helpfully. “After Potya,” Yuri corrects hastily, then splutters and curses and tries to take it back. If Yuuri weren’t already crying, he’d start now. Otabek gives him a curt nod, but he’s kind of smiling.
Guang-hong and Leo sheepishly assure that without him they would’ve never found the courage to ask each other out. That’s mostly Phichit, he wants to say, but it’s not true and he knows. Sara and Michele Crispino thank him for that time he helped sew back a piece of Sara’s costume that had fallen off right before her exhibition. Well, actually, Michele gruffly adds a “thank you for not coming onto my sister,” shooting a guilty glance at Viktor.
“You’re a great hugger,” Emil Nekola says, and Yuuri promises himself that he’ll hug the guy again when all this, whatever this is, has been done.
Yuuko, Takeshi and Mari team up. “For being the best friend and brother one could ask for,” Mari kinda looks out of place without a cigarette between her lips, but her smile is large and genuine. “And student,” Minako quips from the side, waving her hand “You’re making us all so proud, I’m sure if they were here your parents would want you to know that.”
Fat tears keep rolling down Yuuri’s cheeks, even as Seung-gil seriously tells him “Thank you for sending videos of your dog.”
(”You gave him your number?” Phichit whines when Seung-gil just nods. “It took me a month to convince you to give it to me!”
“Katsuki has a dog, and is therefore trustworthy.”
“I have hamsters!”)
JJ grins a little sheepishly, thanking him for “cheering me up when I flubbed my skate last year,” Isabella smiles and parrots the sentiment very sweetly.
Phichit clears his throat, his arm has never left him. “My turn!” he excitedly says, then looks at him very seriously. “Yuuri, for being my first and best friend. When I moved to Detroit, I was alone, and lost, and meeting you was the best thing that ever happened to me. There are so many things I could thank you for, and so many embarrassing tales I could tell, but I’m saving them for the wedding,” he chuckles. “You’re an amazing person and a great skater. And we’re not the only ones who think you are,” he whips out his phone at that.
“Oh, no,” Yuuri weeps, and Phichit starts a five minute video under his nose, a compilation of letters and comments by his fans. Hundreds of people have reached out at Phichit’s call to compliment him and his skating, cheering him on so sweetly, thanking him for being an inspiration, even. At the third minute, Viktor makes him pause and drink a glass of water because he’s afraid he’ll get dehydrated.
“I’ll send you the full one, I had to cut it because there were too many,” Phichit tells Viktor, who nods and grins really big, taking the reins again, hugging Yuuri (who has never stopped crying) to his chest.
“My little star, you mean so much to so many people, I can’t help being a little jealous,” he wonders at last, but his smile is playful “I just wanted you to know how lucky we are. How lucky I am to be able to spend the rest of my life with you. I didn’t know how else to make you see it. Do you get it now?”
Yuuri nods, tells him “You didn’t have to do all this for me,” trying to wipe his face with the back of his hands.
“Nonsense, you deserve this and more!” Viktor assures.
“Are you ready to order?” the waiter tentatively tries.
“This is so embarrassing,” Yuuri sobs into his hands, burrowing into his fiancé’s side with his whole body.
“He loved it,” Phichit says, and Yuuri can feel the pleased smile in his words even without seeing it. He’s right.
(After dinner, he makes a round of hugs, and if he cries again, no one has anything to say about it)

When It’s Love: Chapt 6
I FEEL SO BAD FOR TAKING FOREVER. This chapter is really cute though? I mean...these two...haven’t figured it all out yet and there is difficulty, but until then....
The kissing didn't stop for a long time.
Eventually Otabek found both his arms wrapped tightly around Yuri. He was a comfortable weight who had settled completely on top of Otabek. Yuri's lips barely left his and when they did it was merely so one of them could kiss the corner of the other's mouth or nibble a bottom lip. The kissing had only deepened the longer it went on, Otabek's tongue sliding eagerly over Yuri's.
Otabek wasn't sure when or why they decided to cool it. Yuri had slid off of him partially but he tugged on Otabek to turn over with him. Otabek rolled and wrapped Yuri up in his arms once again, keeping him close as Yuri put an arm around him. He contemplated asking if this meant they were dating and having a full on emotional talk but decided against it. Instead he let sleep win out.
He woke up to Yuri laying on top of him. One arm was folded on Otabek's chest and Yuri rested his chin on it, while his other hand was stroking through Otabek's hair. His eyes were fixed on Otabek's face, something he realized slowly as he blinked himself awake. Yuri was warm against him. He was also the first thing Otabek saw upon waking, which was just perfect for him.
"Morning," Yuri said, still looking at him.
"Hey," Otabek replied, looking right back. His mouth was dry. He didn't know what to say now that his feelings were in the open. At least, they had to be. "Uh, sleep well?"
"Best I've ever slept." Yuri scooted himself up, kissed Otabek's lips, and it started all over again.
They made out for the better part of an hour, Otabek playing with his hair, rubbing his back, even daring to slide down and over the curves of his ass. He didn't know how acceptable that would be but when Yuri just giggled softly in his ear and kissed the edge of it, he knew it was okay.
Everything was okay.
"Mmm, maybe we should get up. What do you think?" Yuri asked Otabek, settling his head down on his chest finally.
Otabek laughed a little. "I don't know. You look like you're getting more comfortable so perhaps we should just stay here."
"Spend the day in bed?"
"If you want."
"That seems so lazy," Yuri said with a big sigh, but he still didn't show any sign of moving.
Otabek combed his fingers through his hair. Surely he would never grow tired of that. He wasn't yet out of his teens but that didn't matter. He knew he wouldn't get tired of Yuri. "Maybe we should be lazy. I'm on vacation, remember."
"As if I could forget." Yuri continued to stay there.
That was all well and good, but then Otabek remembered - the other two. If he and Yuri were cuddled up in there too long, one of the two was likely to come knocking on the door. Yuuri would knock politely, and Viktor would break down the door. And because of their current position, it would probably be the kind of thing where Makkachin would be with him and the damn dog would run in and jump on them.
His fingers stroked along Yuri's neck as he thought about how much he preferred cats.
"Ah, Yuri, I need to reach my phone."
"Check Instagram later," Yuri murmured. His voice was heavy with sleep; he was dozing off again. That was a lovely idea.
Otabek had one major issue with it though. "I need to piss too."
"Oh, really? Fiiiine." Yuri rolled off of Otabek, grumbling, and shoved at him. "Hurry the fuck up."
With a laugh Otabek hauled himself off the bed and strolled quickly to the bathroom. The faster he was, the sooner he could return to laying around with Yuri. It was a thrill, for him. He'd never ever so intimately laid with someone like that. It was a first with the cuddling, and certainly a first with the making out!
He splashed his face with cool water after using the toilet, thinking about it. He was certain Yuri had kissed no one else. Making out with him hadn't really felt sloppy or inexerienced. Neither of them really knew what they were doing. Could it be that they were just naturals?
Otabek dismissed that notion. He watched enough porn to know how to use his damn lips. Yuri may have. And it wasn't that hard to kiss someone, to taste their lips and slip his tongue in his mouth while squeezing his back.
A shiver ran through his body and he splashed his face again. Thinking about kissing led to thoughts of sexual nature and he wasn't ready for that. He wasn't ready for that at all. Otabek fantasized, sure, but at the honest prospect of going out there and doing things to Yuri's body - nope. That he just wasn't ready for.
Let someone make fun of him if they found out. He didn't care. What mattered was that Yuri returned his feelings.
Or he appeaared to, anyway.
He shook his head and left the bathroom. Would they talk about it that morning? He wanted to but the words felt stuck. Upon leaving the bathroom and seeing Yuri laying on his side on the bed, head propped on pillow and gaze casually following him, Otabek found it hard to swallow let alone speak.
"Hurry up!" Yuri growled.
"Charming." Otabek grabbed his phone on his way back to the bed and sat down on the edge of the bed at first. He brought up Viktor's IM window at first, thought for a second, and then went to Yuuri's. "I'm sending off a text so those two don't come barging in here." He felt a hand on his back, then fingertips trailing down. It made him shiver.
"Good idea."
Otabek decided to hurry up a little more. 'Don't come in. We're-' He paused. What should he say they were doing? Making out? No, that seemed like too much to say. Too private. 'We're spending time together.' There, that had to get the idea across. He sent it and then shifted further onto the bed. He was still sitting up, pillows against his back.
Yuri immediately adjusted himself. He raised himself up and pushed at Otabek's legs, immediately raising alarm for him. "Um what..."
"Don't get any ideas," Yuri said with a mocking cross look. He pushed Otabek's legs apart...only to plop himself between them, his back to Otabek's chest. "C'mon I found this funny cat video while you were in there. Have you EVER seen how far they jump when they run into an unplanned cuccumber? It's some of the funniest shit I've seen." He produced his phone from somewhere in the blankets and started to load up the video.
Otabek laughed, putting an arm around Yuri, his own phone still in his other hand. It vibrated, and he looked over at it to read the message. It was from Yuuri. His cheeks grew warm as he opened the message. 'FINALLY! ;)' was all it said. Otabek stared, then dropped the phone next to the pillows.
His other arm went around Yuri and he let his chin settle on the top of his head. The video was loaded. Otabek smiled as Yuri hit play.
Hunger finally made them leave the room, though it was difficult. Even with his stomach rumbling and despite Otabek's urging, Yuri insisted on lounging in bed. When Otabek's own stomach voiced its agreement, Yuri hauled them both up. They changed from their sleeping clothes into things they could at least be seen around the house in.
Otabek put on jeans and a white shirt with black paint-splatter type patterning across the shoulders. Nothing fancy. Yuri dressed down even further with loose black pants and a dark red and yellow plaid shirt that was a size too big for him draping off his thin frame. He looked damn good in it too.
"Do you think they even have food out for us?" Otabek asked, and Yuri shrugged.
"I've made my own snacks. It's after lunch which means we should have the kitchen to ourselves," Yuri informed him. He took Otabek's hand as they quietly made their way down the hallway. It was very quiet, and Otabek figured everyone was out and about for the day or possibly in the onsen.
Otabek merely nodded and let himself be led. Yuri knew what he was doing there, as he was more familiar with Yuuri's home. He didn't seem bothered letting himself into the kitchen and hunting about in the cupboards and the fridge. He finally produced some noodles, chicken, and veges. "Stir-fry?" Otabek asked.
"You got it." Yuri winked, stopped, and turned to study Otabek. He stepped closer and gave his lips a quick peck, followed by shooting him a grin. "Help me with this shit. I'm no one's little cook."
Otabek was red all over he was sure, but he laughed. "Yea. Uh-huh, okay. You're just too lazy."
"Oh up yours." Yuri set up a wok for them and had Otabek help him in cutting up the chicken. It was becoming more of a meal than a simple snack. Should they really be doing that? Otabek didn't care as much as he probably should. He was just enjoying himself doing something as simple as prepping food with Yuri.
He cooked at home often enough, and decently. But unless his mother felt like helping out, he kind of cooked alone. He had his own preferences usually, so he just cooked up his own shit unless he got home late from a club and there were acceptable leftovers to heat up.
Those were awful lonely nights sometimes. He'd sit there and watch a lot of couples out dancing when taking his breaks, and there were times he kind of wanted that. It wasn't romance he desired exactly, but the like-minded company of two people twisting with and grinding on each other in such perfect way. Two people who really fit, and perfectly. Two people who looked amazing when the beat was right and the colored lights surrounded them.
He thought about pair skating with Yuri.
Otabek was distracted from his thoughts when they started adding food to the wok and it made what felt like an insanely loud cooking sound. He even startled and Yuri laughed at him. "What, you think someone is gonna catch us cooking and get all pissed?"
"I-" That was exactly what he thought. "No!"
"Liar," Yuri hissed and jabbed him with his elbow.
Otabek glared and jabbed him back. "Oh you're lucky we're monitoring our cooking right now."
"Or what?" Yuri asked, giving him a wicked smile.
"Yea, or what!?" came a female voice and both of them jumped.
Yuri jumped too that time and when he spun around to face the intruder, he hissed again and that time really sounded like a cat. Otabek turned too and there in front of them was Mari, holding a box of cigarettes and staring at them with an amused smirk. Her hair was tied back as usual and she was dressed in her usual burgandy outfit.
She stared back at them and all were quiet, even if Yuri had a look of outrage on his face. Otabek tried to mask his own anxiety with as blank a face as possible. "...Or what?" she repeated.
"Have you been watching us this whole time?" Yuri asked angrily.
"Nah. Just walked in at the tail end." Mari chuckled. "I'm glad to see you two out here though. My parents were a little worried when you missed lunch and breakfast and didn't even have anything sent to the room. Yuuri had to assure them."
"Assure them how?" asked Otabek, while Yuri bristled.
"Just said you guys were still sleepy. You didn't fool anyone." She winked. "Should we expect you for dinner later? Or are you going to go on a date?"
"A DATE?" Yuri snapped and then Otabek was even more on edge.
"Yea, a date. Eat some food. Make eyes at each other. You know." Mari started to pull a cigarette from the pack.
"No! We're not going on any dates!" Yuri growled. "No goddamn dates and we'll see if we show up for dinner!"
"Wow. My bad." Mari shrugged and started to walk past them toward the stairs. "Usually people in relationships do that."
"Well we're not in one." Yuri huffed and spun back around to tend to the food while Otabek stared in shock. Maybe Yuri wasn't comcortable talking about it yet, but it still kind of stung.
It seemed to strike Mari as harsh as well. She paused and shared a look with Otabek before slowly turning away to go down the stairs. And once she was gone, some of the sour mood went with her, but not enough. Otabek glanced at Yuri and then away. He didn't need to watch the food if Yuri was. And he didn't want to.
His appetite had diminished significantly.
Yuri hadn't said anything, but as they finally sat to eat Otabek wondered if he could tell he'd reacted a bit strangely. Yuri didn't really say anything. He asked Otabek if he liked his food. He made a comment about Yuuri being a piggy, and near the end of the meal asked Otabek if he wanted to go to the onsen.
When Otabek declined, Yuri watched him for an uncomfortable amount of time before getting up with his bowl. He took it to the sink, washed it, and came back for Otabek's. When he did, he leaned down and Otabek felt Yuri nuzzling the top of his head, pressing a lingering kiss to it.
His guard went right back down and Otabek turned his head to catch Yuri's lips briefly. Though usually he read his best friend almost perfectly, he couldn't understand him completely. Yuri was usually very honest - at times brutally so. And when his nerves got the best of him he not only pressed on but did so with amazing results.
Emotions were different, but...
As Yuri drew away and took Otabek's bowl to the sink, he knew he couldn't place too much on the blonde. Otabek was way more locked up. He hadn't even managed to ask what they were back in the privacy of the bedroom!
"Want to go walking on the beack?" Yuri asked as he started to do the dishes. Otabek got up to help him.
"You don't want to go to the rink?" Otabek asked as he started to dry things to put them away.
Yuri shook his head. "Nope. I'm guessing that's where the other two are, and uh-"
"I get it." Otabek cut him off. Yuri had no need to explain it further. "Believe me I get it. The beach for sure. It's cool out again so it should be pretty empty."
Yuri worked on the last bowl, smirking as he did so. "Perfect."
And so, they found themselves on the beach in the late afternoon. When they left Yutopia, Otabek had considered reaching for Yuri's hand. Yuri didn't reach for his. Otabek suspected he might not because they were out in the public and Yuri's behavior with Mari had been odd. But still, Yuri touched him around other people, so surely that wouldn't change?
Otabek's head hurt.
When they got to the beach Yuri paused and reached into the pocket of the sweatshirt he had changed into. He withdrew his phone and his red ear buds. "I loaded the playlist you made me," he said standing in front of Otabek. "I listen to it a lot."
"Oh? I need to make you an updated one," Otabek mused, touching his chin. He hadn't shaved very recently and could feel the stubble growing out. He might let it grow a little more.
Yuri smiled and handed one of the earbuds to Otabek after plugging the set into his phone. His hair moved slightly with the breeze and with his eyes so bright, Otabek swore he never looked more perfect. "Go for it," Yuri told him.
When they each had a bud in, Yuri linked his arm with Otabeks so they could walk along the shore. Otabek's head still hurt but the music and the warmth of Yuri was soothing...if he could have closed his eyes and successfully kept walking, he would have.
Then of course, he would have missed looking out at the waves with his Yuri, wouldn't have seen Yuri's smile when he steered them to a big white sand dollar that had washed up during high tide. Yuri had 'rinsed' it in the salter seawater before shoving it into his sweathirt pocket. Then he went back to linking his arm with Otabek's as they walked.
They saw very few people on the way as the beach was indeed pretty empty. That was just fine. Yuri kept a little distance when there was another person, and when there wasn't, his head would touch on Otabek's shoulder. They made small talk along the way when they did speak. Otabek wouldn't have minded, but it was one of the few times he wished they were talking a lot.
They reached the edge of the beach, where beach front houses began and they could not trespass. Not that they wanted to. It was quite a long walk they had taken together. Instead of going directly back Yuri led them up and off the beach to a grassy picnicking area. They sat at, or rather on, one of the tables, leaning against each other. Otabek put his arm around Yuri to draw him closer. He kissed the side of his head once, then twice.
"I wish we could stay out here all night," Yuri said with a sigh. "But everyone will get worried even if we text."
"It'll get cold, too," Otabek pointed out.
"So what...I'm warm right now," Yuri said and Otabek chuckled. "I am serious though."
Otabek squeezed him and turned to gently kiss his cheek, his lips lingering. "But the bed is so comfortable..." He couldn't wait to makeout with Yuri in it again. Even though he wanted to talk about it, he couldn't even pretend he would shove all that stuff aside for even longer just to spend time kissing and hugging Yuri.
They could always have an emotional conversation when he was back in Almaty and they were reduced to long distance conversation. That totally wouldn't make it harder...totally.
"It is," Yuri replied, and then he turned against Otabek. "But tomorrow we should sneak out for a while. Bring something warm. Something to eat, too. We don't even have anything to drink."
Otabek laughed, then frowned. "You're serious about this, aren't you?" he asked him.
Yuri nodded. "Very. Just you and me, let's get away. He took Otabek's free hand in both of his and sighed. "We don't have to go here. There's plenty of places."
"So you want to...run away...together?" He was having trouble following Yuri's logic. He was always doing his own independent thing but it still seemed strange.
Yuri nodded. "For a night. Just for one night. No chance of being interupted...just...please?"
Otabek didn't really know if he liked it. He liked the aspect of being away from everyone. He liked extensive alone time with Yuri. But they could have that in their bedroom or even the onsen. Sort of.
But...maybe it could be fun. And maybe they could figure everything out. That would make it even more worth it. "Fine," Otabek finally agreed.
Yuri picked up his head and grinned at him excitedly. He then took Otabek's face in his hands, his eyes sparkling, and kissed him hard right on the lips.
Otabek was glad he agreed.

NOT a ghost AU
streetwisehercules:
So
Inspired by the sexiest haunted hotel thing you sent me I have had an idea
@hereticgods:
Yeeess
streetwisehercules:
Ok so
This is not a ghost au really so keep that in mind as I send you a barrage of texts
AU where viktor is a minor television celebrity and ghost enthusiast who stars in a television show similar to ghost adventures with Chris/yurio/mila/maybe georgi
Except instead of trying to start fights with the ghosts (which is pretty much all they do on ghost adventures), viktor gets really into researching them - they go to local libraries and government record houses, talk to locals about Ghost Stories and Town History etc
hereticgods:
Ok awesome so far
streetwisehercules:
And then after they've researched they kind of go into the haunted location and set up all their equipment and just sort of chat with the ghost
It's like the Bob Ross of ghost shows
Every episode you watch warms your heart because you learn a story of a town, always told with a great deal of care
(But viktor is also RIDICULOUS on the show - like he absolutely believes in ghosts. He buys every piece of ghost memorabilia EVER. He will detail filming to go see a street tarot reader and ooh and ahh over the reading)
So chris at one point makes a Joke. It is meant to be light hearted, but viktor is Extra about the things he loves and he LOVES the occult, so.
hereticgods:
Omg ok
streetwisehercules:
The joke is: "If you love ghosts so much, why don't you sleep with one?"
hereticgods:
Gasp
streetwisehercules:
Now viktor is like "well we can't really film that but i do have a vacation coming up so thanks for the great idea!!"
(I can't decide if they have got Definite Proof that ghosts exist before - maybe not even on camera, but have they seen like a full bodied ghost? Unsure!)
So viktor goes to Japan for his vacation and stays at the Haunted Hasetsu Onsen (as it is affectionately known on small online ghost forums)
Apparently it is Quite Old and some say there is a full bodied ghost lurking around! If viktor is going to sleep with a ghost it shan't be a mere will-o-the-wisp or orb! Only the best!
hereticgods:
Omg
Is yuuri a ghost?? Noo
streetwisehercules:
It is worth noting that all reports of this "ghost" come from foreigners and tourists. No local has corroborated this story, but the few of them who are from Hasetsu and on the ghost forums tend to laugh
REMEMBER! It's not a ghost au. This is important
So anyways viktor goes to the onsen and like, he's on vacation but he's a workaholic and so he pretty much starts talking to everyone about the history of Hasetsu and the Onsen, etc.
Maybe one night while returning from an evening stroll he sees a distant, vague figure dancing in the onsen gardens. It disappears as soon as he gets close
But the dancing could only be described as OTHERWORLDLY! Viktor is on the right track
He can't check any records or anything and his interviews are a bit shoddy bc he doesn't speak Japanese btw
hereticgods:
Oh viktor
streetwisehercules:
Anyways one night he is up drinking with Minako chatting and he goes to bed late, and in the hallway he sees a figure!!! Skulking gracefully! He seems to stare right through viktor, as if seeing another world!! His eyes are ethereal, glittering in the moonlight!!! His skin gilded in silver!
He bumps into viktor and mutters "excuse me"!! This is the first time viktor meets the ghost
He camps out in the hallway CASUALLY at the same time the next night and sees him again! In the same outfit! So obviously a ghost - and besides viktor has never seen a living person with such an elusive magnetic quality to their aura, with such beautiful eyes. Must be a ghost.
Anyways they actually get to talking and the ghost is very shy! As most ghosts are! Viktor is surprised and delighted to find that he ghost is solid to the touch, and also that when viktor touches his arm he blushes beautiful and viktors face warms as well.
Viktor only sees him late at night, and he seems very fragile around the edges, almost tired. Probably from keeping up a physical form!
hereticgods:
Oh my god
Viktor !!!
streetwisehercules:
"You seem tired," Viktor says.
"It's worth it to see you, Viktor" the ghost, Yuuri, says.
"Please," Viktor chokes out, face burning, "call me Vitya."
Anyways viktor sees yuuri dance (ethereal), learns he was taught by minako, and has a conversation with minako in which minako is under the impression that viktor is not an idiot, and viktor is under the impression that yuuri is a ghost.
Minako gives him a narrow look. "The last time," she says, "that Yuuri's heart was broken, he disappeared for a month. [classic ghost, viktor thinks] So if he gives you his heart, I expect you to take care of it."
Yes, viktor thinks. Yes I would do nothing less. I will hold his heart and keep it close to my chest and they can beat together forever.
And then eventually they kiss and viktor is OVER THE MOON!!!
UNTIL
he realizes that he is fucking falling for a ghost who can never leave the place he died.
hereticgods:
Oh my god
Wow
How could viktor be so dumb!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Love the convo with minako
streetwisehercules:
Anyways eventually viktor stops beating around the bush and is like "I can't take your heart yuuri because I have to leave and you couldn't follow and it would kill me, too."
Yuuri: i could come with you, you know. Maybe not right away, we could do the long distance thing for a bit.
Viktor: OH YUURI, how can you follow me when you're DEAD?
(This would sound like a threat except that viktor is lying on his bed like a fainted Victorian lady wearing an 'ECTOPLASM ROCKS' tshirt)
Yuuri: what the fuck are you talking about
Yeah I'm realizing in writing this that he is super dumb. That's ok because it's a comedy and not heavy angst
Anyways they have a talk about what an Idiot Viktor is, and viktor probably bursts into tears and yuuri is like "are you upset you didn't get to sleep with a ghost?" And viktors like "n-no im just so HAPPY!!!!"
(Yuuri is gone most of the day dancing/idk what else, and he's just shy with guests and foreigners and keeps to his room and the family quarters btw)
Viktor thought that yuuri wouldn't let him in his room bc it wasn't really his room but a storage closet or something and the gig would be up, but in fact the reason that he didn't is because he has a giant poster of viktor’s show, with viktor shirtless in a fringed black leather vest on his wall
And then they live happily ever after
hereticgods:
Omg my god
Wow
That's adorable?!!!
Viktor is really dumb tho
But it's ok bc yuuri loves him
I love that yuuri has a giant poster of him
So why the rumors about the onsen being haunted?
streetwisehercules:
Well it all started when yuuri came home covered in glow paint from a dance show
And then it spiraled from there. And like I said he avoids the non-local guests and sometimes he gets so nervous that he just ignores them if they say "hi" or something
Which then attracted more Ghost Hunters type ppl, who interpret everything as a Sign of Ghost
In viktors defense they have a LOT of convos that could be taken either way
Timeline is probably about a month
Viktor leaves and cries on the plane and wants to call yuuri as soon as he lands but doesn't want to be clingy, but then yuuri texts him like "I know you're probably super busy, but could you text/call me when you land? I miss you." And viktor DIES
hereticgods:
Awwwwwww
💗💗
streetwisehercules:
They flirt with ghost innuendos and send each other lots of good luck charms
When they move in together their place is full of like....spooky goth/tourist occult things
hereticgods:
That's adorable
Yuuri is a big ghost fan too right?
streetwisehercules:
Yes!
Viktor takes him along on shoots and yuuri LOVES IT SO MUCH
they go to dates on ghost tours!
And hold hands and ooh and ahh when one of them gets a picture of an orb
hereticgods:
I love it
streetwisehercules:
I wanna say yuuri is a dancer? And viktor is a huge fan of his as well
Maybe a hobbyist dancer? Like he taught classes in hasetsu
And he ends up mostly working on the show with viktor and teaching/taking some classes on the side
He has a show and he does it to like a song about ghosts and dresses up a bit as a ghost and viktor records it and you can hear him crying in the background
hereticgods:
Oh my god
This is really cute
I feel like you're projecting a little bit
streetwisehercules:
OK WOW
Call me out like this!!!!
As I sit in bed watching lip swatch videos! I thought I was safe! From this kind of attack!!
