Broken Promises | Bc
Tumblr media
Pairing: Bang Chan x reader
Warnings: fluff - despite the title, this is actually just a feel good little story.
Word Count: 1.8k
𖠫Summary: Sometimes you can make all the promises in the world to yourself, but life has other plans for you. Working closely with Bang Chan turns out to be a challenge in which you never really stood a chance.
✎a/n✎: this was just a random ass thought I started writing. No idea why. My brain is just finding every way possible to avoid writing part 4 of the master of flirting at this point. And Chan’s lips may have caught my eye and my mind may have wandered into writing this fic. Who knows, really. Edit: in re-reading this, this is one of the shitiest things I’ve ever written. 😭😭 I’m not even sure why I published this. 🤦🏼‍♀️🫣

You promise yourself when taking the job, you won’t fall victim to Chan’s charm like every other person on the planet seems to.
The minute Bang Chan’s laugh is directed at you, his eyes crinkling in laughter and turning into tiny crescent moon slits, you’re done for.
It is then you break your first promise, falling hard for Chan’s charming laugh and beautiful smile.
You promise yourself that you’ll never let tiny glances and brief touches affect you. It is your job to do his makeup, of course you’d be close in proximity, touching him more than pretty much anyone else.
It had been 2 months since you replaced Chan’s previous makeup artist. Every time you walk into a room, he notices.
“Y/n! My favorite artist,” he declares, striding up to you and spreading his legs so that he can be face to face with you for easier access.
“Mr Bang,” you tease.
It has become a running joke between the two of you at this point, you calling him Mr. Bang. You crowd into his space, brush in hand as you set to work. After applying the base makeup, the more intricate details require you to be even closer to him. You step in close, your chest bumping against his slightly and his hands reach out, landing on your hips to steady the two of you.
Your heart flutters in your chest and you curse yourself silently. When he doesn’t remove his hands the rest of the time you’re doing his makeup, you can’t help but be a little overjoyed.
It is then you break your second promise, wondering when the next time he is going to dare to touch you will be.
You promise yourself you won’t develop a school girl crush on Chan.
The day he brought you caffeine and breakfast after he knew you had a long night, you start noticing all the little things he does for you that the other boys don’t do for their make-up artists.
He texts to make sure you get home safely. He seeks you out in a crowded room during down time just to chat. Even if he doesn’t need a touch up. He calls you when he is in the studio because he just has to tell you about this idea that he has for a makeup look for the song he is writing. You never actually talk about the look, but he tells you all about the song and eventually the conversation moves away from writing and music to more personal topics. Before a performance, he works quietly in the same room that you are in whether you’re doing his makeup or not. He texts you almost every morning, even when you don’t have a schedule with him. Your fluttering heart realizes you’ve definitely fallen for Christopher Bang.
It is then that you break your third promise, the school girl crush taking hold of your not so schoolgirl heart.
You promise yourself that you will not get involved with an idol. Especially one Christopher Bang.
You’re walking home one day after a particularly long schedule with the boys. Your car had broken down a few days before and it was a nice enough day, so you set off for your apartment that wasn’t all that far from the venue you had just left. It was a lucky coincidence that today’s schedule was close to your home.
You don’t make it far when suddenly the once bright and sunny day clouds up overhead, and you can feel the atmosphere shift, a summer storm approaching quickly and seemingly out of nowhere. You should have known better than to be walking home in the middle of monsoon season. The pretty clear sky days typically give way to much gloomier and rainiers days with little to no warning. You had been sure you could make it home when you left the venue, but as the clouds opened up and rained down on you, literally, you realized just how wrong you were.
You are soaked to the bone in no time, nowhere close by to seek shelter. You are running down the sidewalk, your backpack lifted over your head as you stomp through the puddles of water that are already forming. Suddenly a car pulls up beside you, the door thrown open haphazardly.
“Y/N,” Chan yells from the back seat. “Get in!”
Your brain takes a second to process that Chan is offering you a ride, or that he is there at all on the side of the road on a now rainy evening.
You dash to the door and crawl in, immediately shivering from your wet clothes, tossing your bag on the floor of the car. Chan immediately pulls his hoodie over his head.
“Take this,” he says, handing it to you. He turns away from you and you’re confused at first. “Take off that soaked shirt and throw my hoodie on. It’ll be better for some of you to be dry at least,” he explains as if he can see you staring at his back, confused.
“Oh, yeah. Okay,” you agree and pull your wet shirt over your head and set it on the floor beside you. It’s then that you realize that Chan is the only one in the back of the vehicle which is unusual. “Where is everyone else?” you ask, slipping the hoodie over your head and wrapping your arms around yourself, rubbing your arms rapidly trying to warm yourself up.
Chan turns back around, figuring he has given you enough time and speaks.
“I saw you leave the venue on foot and I asked for my own car. Haven’t you learned yet that you don’t go for a walk in the middle of monsoon season?” He chuckles at you. “I was hoping we would catch up to you before the skies opened up,” he sighs apologetically. “C’mere, yeah?” He says, motioning for you to crawl into his warm embrace. You’re too cold from your wet pants and hair to really think twice about it.
His arms immediately engulf you, wrapping around your waist, pulling you into his warm and firm body. His arms rest on top of yours and rub gently, generating some heated friction to help ease your chills.
“God, I hope you don’t get sick,” he murmurs against your head as he leans back, keeping his arms around you, pulling you with him.
You settle against his chest and sigh. You inhale and immediately your senses are filled with his smell. It’s a comforting, woodsy smell you know you have smelt hundreds of times, but there is something distinctly different about it when you are wrapped in his arms. You practically burrow into him, your eyes fluttering shut. You feel Chan’s hold on you relax, and he sighs contentedly.
“Hey,” Chan says, shaking you gently. At some point you had fallen asleep on the short ride to your apartment. “We’re at your place.”
“Oh,” you startle awake, pulling away from his embrace and scrambling for the door. “Thanks for the ride Chan,” you stumble out, climbing out of the car a little embarrassed that you fell asleep in Chan’s arms.
As quickly as you are scrambling out of the car, Chan is hot on your trail, following you into your building.
“Y/n, wait!” He manages as you step into the elevator, eager to separate your racing heart from Bang Chan. You will not get involved. You promised yourself.
Just as the door goes to slide shut, his large hand stops the door and he steps in, the door quickly shutting behind him. You’re alone with him in the small space.
“I just…” he breathes, his hands coming to rest on your face. “Can I?” He starts to ask you a question, but his breath seems to be caught in his throat. He is staring into your eyes, his tongue darting out to lick his lips as his brown eyes flicker down to your lips. That seems to help him finish his sentence. “Kiss you?” He finishes.
Without your brain giving it permission, you nod your head in approval and Chan’s lips are on yours. Warm, plush, and inviting. He presses himself against you as his strong hands hold your head in place, his nose bumping against yours as your lips move in sync. The door dings and you both pull away, a little lost for words to see someone standing there waiting for the elevator.
Chan grabs your hand and pulls you off the elevator, mumbling a quick apology to the person waiting.
You can’t help but giggle as Chan wraps his arm around your waist and pulls you into him.
“Which one is you?” He asks, looking down the hall.
“1003,” you say, willing your legs to move down the hall, your brain still not processing what is going on. You reach your door quickly stopping to wrestle your key out of your wet jean pocket.
“Can we talk?” Chan asks beside you as you open the door. “I’d uh,” he fumbles over his words as you push open the door. “I’d kind of like to take you on a date,” he says, his words tumbling out of his mouth almost faster than he can say them.
It’s your turn to grab his hand and pull him into your apartment, closing the door behind you.
“How about a dinner and a movie date right here,” you suggest, gesturing around your apartment. You aren’t sure what you’re doing, but you’re going for it, whatever it is.
He chuckles.
“Yeah, okay. I like that idea,” he agrees, kicking off his shoes. “Let me just let the guys know I’m gonna be out for a while,” he adds, pulling his phone from his pocket.
“I’m gonna go change. Make yourself comfortable,” you say, pointing to the couch as you turn to pad down the hall.
Chan’s hand reaches out for your wrist, barely catching it before you are too far away. He pulls you back into him, his lips finding yours once more and you melt into him and his comforting embrace.
It’s then you realize you’re going to break your last promise. You are absolutely getting involved with Christopher Bang.
Who knew that broken promises could feel this good?

Sleeping Beauty: Author's April #4
Tumblr media
(This was intended to be the sequel to my Huntress in the Castle story. It would have been about them rescuing Nadine and solving the curse on the castle once and for all.)
Tumblr media
One:
My brothers had thought life in the royal palace would be boring. They were used to doing what they wished, going wherever they pleased. In the palace they had certain restrictions, but outside they were given free run. Even among the knights, which is where they spent most of their time. They trained with the knights, challenging them to playful bouts.
Beyond the palace walls they mingled among the common people easily, after all that was who we were. They went to the sea, fishing and running about the docks. They traded amongst the shops and cobblers. And even within the palace their individual interests were met.
D’Arcy had become the royal physicians assistant, and was often found with the Queen’s apothecary. Craig took to the horse houses and the animals of the palace. The queen kept quite the menagerie in the garden. Finn was often either at sea or with the knights. Or causing trouble. But that was normal Finn. Peadar was the same as well, often keeping to himself, watching the others with a kindly eye. He would place himself in the gardens or in the kitchen where he could watch the comings and goings with ease. And the kitchen did feel more like home.
The only one who couldn’t seem to find his place was Niall. I tried to keep him company as much as I could, but he knew my place now was beside Vered, at the forefront of the royal family. And sure, he found pastimes to occupy him, but unlike the others, his nook in the new life hadn’t been chipped out yet.
“I’m sure once the castle in the forest is done, it’ll be easier.” Vered explained to him one evening. I was glad the two had gotten to know one another. And they were both similar in the regards that they both weren’t fitting in well.
“I do miss the village.” Niall sighed.
Vered smiled. “Why don’t we plan a hunting trip. Just us men.”
Niall laughed. “And leave Fianna alone? She would probably wreck something.”
Vered nodded. “That might be true. But she knows more than anyone that you need it.”
Niall sighed, shaking his head. “This is all I ever wanted for my family. Never wanting for anything. Never having to risk our necks for our next meal. But, I still feel so uncomfortable. Like I’m missing something.”
Vered nodded. “You haven’t found your fate yet.”
“What? Like my Gran’s stories?” Niall scoffed.
Vered laughed at him. “They worked out for your sister. Fantastically so.” He leaned against the railing of the veranda. “Didn’t Granny tell you boys any stories?”
“Some.” Niall answered with a shrug. “But we were boys, we didn’t listen. Fianna was the only one who paid her any mind, let alone believe her.”
Vered smirked. “Well, I bet you’ll listen now.”
“My Gran told me I’d slay a dragon.” Niall scoffed. “There are not such things. No such creatures.”
Vered slapped his palms to his chest. “And I was a horrible beast.”
Niall hesitated, doubting himself for just a moment.
Vered laughed then. “So what is to say you aren’t going to slay a dragon? You saw with your own eyes what is inside me. You saw your sister die and yet she lives.” His eyes narrowed on Niall. “I dare you to listen to Granny now. We’ll see what fate has for you, dragons and all.”
Niall felt shaken to his core. If she had been right about me all these years, imagine what else she was correct about. If Niall had remembered correctly and he was to slay a dragon…well good lord! That meant he was to slay a dragon.
It took Niall some time to actually go see Granny. He went to several others before actually going to see her. It wasn’t like Niall to get the straight answer right away. First, he came to see me and Peadar, since we were both in the library together.
“When Granny told you stories about Vered-”
I shook my head. “She never told me about Vered. She never told me about anything, except that there was an evil in the forest meant for me.”
Niall cocked a brow at me.
“It isn’t her place to reveal the future.” I said. “I wasn’t supposed to know what was going to happen to me.”
“You worried about what you didn’t listen to?” Peadar asked.
Niall scoffed. “And you actually listened to her stories?”
“I listened because she’s Granny. Believe it?” Peadar shrugged. “Up until I saw Vered I didn’t believe what she told me. Now, I’m starting to.”
Niall flaps his arms out, exasperated. “Oy, yeah? And what did she tell you?” He asked huffishly.
Peadar and I exchanged looks, he had been telling me some of the tales Granny had told him since we had gotten to the royal palace. We both smiled, laughing to ourselves.
“Granny told me to pay very close attention to women’s shoes.”
Niall’s mouth hung open. “And you are just going to believe her?”
I laughed, covering my mouth to keep from laughing to loud.
Peadar put his hand on the top of my head. “She told Fianna there was an evil meant for her. If all I have to do is study women’s fashion then so be it.” He chuckled.
“Do you even remember what Granny told you?” I asked.
Niall looked away, arms crossed tightly against his chest, bottom lip protruding farther out than usual.
“Oh come on!” Peadar scoffed.
Niall sighed, letting his arms slip back to his sides. “She told me…she told me I’d slay a dragon.”
Peader nudged me. “Well…excuse me and my shoes then.”
I furrowed my brow. “You should be talking to Granny, Niall.”
Niall sighed, rubbing his chin and looking out the window. “Yeah.” He sighed, turning on his heel and leaving us.
Peadar looked at me. “He’s avoiding it.” He explained. “I don’t think he wants to admit that he was wrong.”
I pursed my lips. “He won’t be able to avoid it for long.”
Niall found the twins and D’Arcy in the kitchen, eating fruit the serving girls sliced for them with giddy joy.
“I don’t remember what Gran told me.” Finn shrugged, biting into an apple.
D’Arcy rubbed his chin in thought. “I remember her saying something like…I will be surrounded by beautiful women.”
Finn and Craig busted out laughing.
“You can’t be serious?” Niall scoffed. “She told Peadar to keep an eye on women’s shoes!”
Craig cleared his throat. “Well, Gran always tells me to stay away from wolves. But I just thought that was common knowledge.”
Finn coughed and slapped his hands together. “I remember now! I remember!” He coughed again, almost choking on apple in his excitement. “Gran told me to listen to cats!”
Niall threw up his arms in frustration. “Shoes? Women? Wolves and cats? Is this woman really being serious?”
The three exchanged looks. “She was right about Fianna.” D’Arcy said. “Sure, her tales sound exaggerated, but I believe she’s right.”
“What’d Gran tell you?” Finn asked.
Niall sighed. “That I would have to slay a dragon.”
“Ooh!” Finn giggled. “Wanna trade for my cat?”
“Just go talk to Gran.” Craig sighed. “Get the straight answer from the source. Don’t keep trying to avoid it. Might turn out the dragon is a metaphor for something.”
“And my women are a metaphor for what then?” D’Arcy laughed.
“Madness?” Finn chuckled, winking at a serving girl as she walked by.
“Just go talk to Gran,” D’Arcy scoffed. “What? You afraid that she’s right? Don’t wanna hear what’s good for ya?”
Niall picked up an orange wedge. “How is hearing that I may get eaten by a dragon good for me?” He laughed, placing the orange wedge between his lips.
“It’s belly could be full of gold.” Finn retorted. “I’m sure if the thing is big enough, and it swallows ya whole-”
“Oh really, Finn.” Craig scoffed.
Niall sighed, rolling his eyes. “Guess there is no avoiding it.” He shrugged then and pursed his lips. “Gotta go talk to Gran.”
Granny was all but eager to finally talk to Niall. Most of the boys had come to her, just to double check if the stories she had been feeding them were true.
“I’m glad you finally came to me, Niall.” She said, tucking into the chair before him. “I was beginning to get afraid you would leave without being prepared.”
“Leave?” Niall asked.
Granny nodded. “Oh yes, Fianna and Vered are going to ask you to accompany them to view on the progress of the palace soon.”
Niall shook his head. “I haven’t heard of this.”
Granny’s hand whipped out, slapping his hand. “Of course not! They don’t even know yet. But a letter will arrive soon, and then you’ll go.”
“Go to what?” Niall gasped. “You always told Fianna she had an evil meant for her.” He brought his palms to his chest. “What is meant for me? You told me when I was young I would slay a dragon!”
Granny nodded knowingly, stroking her long braid. “Ah yes. I was excited with you. You being the eldest and having such an amazing journey ahead of you. I let too much slip there.”
Niall laughed. “You’re serious!” He exclaimed. “An actual dragon?”
Granny shook her head, clicking her tongue. “I shouldn’t say anything else on the matter.” She sighed. “But, since you know that bit already,” she reached out, gently holding Niall’s hand. “You are so important to this family Niall. You have always had to be the strongest. But sometimes, showing what makes you vulnerable is nothing to frown at. It is often in our darkest times, when we have nothing at all, that we show our true strength.”
Niall thought about me then. Remembering the night I had fought Vered. It hadn’t been my strength, or my blade that had defeated the monster. No. Niall could remember standing there seeing my bow before the beast, he thought he would never see me again, his last vision of me being that of my bloody death. Instead, he saw something remarkable, he saw me save us all.
Granny leaned closer to Niall, holding his face between her palms. “No matter how you fight it, you will need someone to take care of you sometimes.”
Niall nodded slowly. “But…what does that have to do with-” He stopped himself and laughed. “Thank you Granny.”
She smiled. “Good boy.
Niall leaned back in his chair, looking over into the fireplace. He and Granny sat in a peaceful quiet for a moment. Granny drank her tea and finished darning one of Finn’s socks. It was when she pulled out my veil that Niall began to feel eager about his fate.
“How come Peadar only has to worry about shoes?” Niall asked, a broad smile on his face.
Granny smiled up at him. “Oh believe me, you’re going to think dragons look pretty good when you see what your brothers have to deal with.” She laughed.
Niall reached out, holding onto the end of the sheer silk of my veil. Granny was working hard, making her fingers ache, to get the beading just right. The Queen had given her special beads made of this crystal with a mother of pearl like shimmer to them.
“When I was a young girl, I never would of dreamed of this.” Granny sighed. “I had never even seen a castle in my lifetime. And here I am, living in one.”
“You never foresaw this?” Niall asked.
Granny shook her head. “I don’t like poking around into my own future.” She plucked a bead from the tin. “Oh no. Too many problems come with that.” She clicked her tongue. “I did use it to make some money, back when I was young and when your grandfather passed.”
Niall knew Granny had always wanted to go back to being a fortune teller when his mother and father both died. But Niall wanted Granny to be comfortable, he wanted to earn the family’s bread. Granny had paid her way many a time, she deserved a respite.
“I haven’t gone very far in my life,” Granny continued. “But I have seen things that would make your eyes pop clear out of your head!” She said with a proud bob of her head.
“If looking into the future is so bad, Gran, how come you did it for us?” Niall asked, leaning towards her.
Granny smiled gently, knowingly. “Because you want to protect those you love. I wanted to make sure you brats turned out happy, safe. I’d do anything for you.”
Niall reached out, holding Granny’s hand for a moment, then released her to continue her beading work.
That night, Niall woke up from a sound sleep. The world was pitch black, save for the sliver of light coming through his curtains. For the split second his eyes were open, he saw something move, something faint. He closed his eyes again and then opened them wide in a flash, realizing what he had seen was a person.
He sat up with a jolt in bed, there was something pulling open the crutains. A pale, white hand stretching into the moonlight and smoothing their hand across the cold glass. Niall was stunned, he was frozen in place. What was this specter he was seeing.
The figure turned, face illuminated my the moonlight. She watched Niall with a curiosity, a small sigh escaped her and she sat on the windowsill, looking out over the castle.
“Excuse me.” Niall said.
The girl jumped, turning and looking at him with wide eyed fright. “Puh-pardon?” She gasped, her long auburn hair cascading off her shoulder.
“What are you doing in my room?” Niall scoffed.
The girl looked from side to side, wide blue windows of disbelief. She looked back at Niall, brow pursed. “You can see me?”
“As plan as day!” Niall snapped as he rose from bed.
“That…that can’t be.” She scoffed, standing herself. “Wait, aren’t you Fianna’s brother?”
“Do not change the subject.” Niall scoffed. “Who are you and what are doing in-” The woman’s hand went through Niall like a cold breeze. There was no substance to her, just shadow.
The woman watched, Niall slack jawed and stumbling back to his bed.
“You held me once.” The woman said. “You were the first man to ever hold me besides my father or brother.”
All Niall could do was stare up at her. A ghost!
“I’m Nadine.” The woman answered, folding her hands against her skirt.
“But…but they said you died.” Niall whispered.
Nadine shrugged. “Maybe I am. Maybe I’m not.” She shook her head. “I can’t figure it out. I don’t even know why I’m still here. You’re the first one who has even been aware of me.” She sat down on the windowsill again pulling her knees up to her chest.
Niall shook his head. “How long have you been here?”
Nadine shook her head. “I could not say. A day. A year. Forever? I have completely lost my sense of time or reasoning. One moment, I was dying. The next I am…wandering.” She turned her head, looking out.
Niall stood up, walking to the window and looking over Nadine. Her long, dark auburn hair, splayed out in a million soft waves down her back. Her skin, white and fragile as porcelain. But she had the strong, regal features that Vered did. There was no use arguing that they were related. They even had the same haunting, blue eyes.
Nadine looked up at him. “Or perhaps you are dreaming.” She retorted. “Perhaps this is all just a trick of your mind. Maybe your mind recreated me to help ease your ill-ease in the palace.”
Niall shook his head, breathless. “That must be it.”
Nadine laughed. “Oh wouldn’t that be a wonderful solution for us all.” She looked away from the window, folding her fingers under her sharp chin. “I haven’t talked to anyone besides my brother in so long.” She chuckled softly. “I barely talked to Fianna I admit. I was terrified of her.”
Niall chuckled at this. All his life, all he could remember doing was talking to me. From the moment I was born I was his.
“She talked about you a lot.” Nadine replied. “I didn’t realize one could love their family so much.”
“But you stayed with Vered all that time.”
Nadine shook her head slowly, almost not moving. “I had to. What I would of given to run away, to leave him behind and…and all alone.” Tears began to dribble down Nadine’s cheeks. “And then…then he changed, and that scared me more.”
Niall sat back in the window, opposite Nadine. “Siblings tend to do that. Like…I can remember when Finn was little. He was scared of his own shadow.” He laughed. “I see him now and wonder where that frightened little creature went.”
Nadine nodded softly. “And what about Fianna?”
Niall sighed, thinking about me as a little girl again. “She used to cling to me. She wouldn’t let me out of her sight, and when I did she just hollered.”
Nadine cracked a smile through her tears.
“And then one day…” Niall became distant for a moment. “One day I realized she didn’t need me. And that was when I began clinging to her.”
“And now?” Nadine’s voice a barely audible whisper.
Niall stared beyond sight, he looked inside, all around himself. “And now…it’s my turn to face my fate like she did. I can’t cling to my family anymore.”
Nadine was wiping at her face then and Niall held his hand out to her, presenting her with a handkerchief. “Don’t cry, please.”
Nadine took it gingerly from his fingers. “It has been a while since a man has offered his hand to me.” She murmured, looking at the handkerchief as if it were made of gold and jewels. “Thank you, Niall.”
“Niall.”
He bolted upright in bed, nearly half scaring me to death.
He looked at me in disbelief. The world around him was bright with morning light now, not midnight blue. “Fianna?”
I nod. “I came to get you, you slept clear through breakfast.”
“I did?” He gasped breathlessly.
“Yes.” I furrowed my brow at him, studying him closely. “Are you alright?”
He shakes his head. “I had the strangest of dreams.” His eyes wander back to the window where Nadine had been sitting. He could see her perfectly. How could that have been a dream?
“What was the dream?” I asked.
“I’m not sure.” He lied. “There was a girl, and she was alone…I think she wanted a friend.”
I tilted my head onto my shoulder, watching Niall’s somewhat lost expression. I brushed the hair away from his forehead. “Are you sure you slept?” I slipped the pad of my finger across the dark circles under his eyes. “You look like you haven’t slept at all.” My hand falls back to my side. “Why don’t I bring you a small bite to eat and then you just try to get some rest?”
He shakes his head at me and begins to stand. “I promised to take the twins out to the sea today. They wanted to go fishing again.”
“They go fishing at least four times a week these days!” I easily shove Niall back into bed. Almost too easily. It scared me for a moment.
Niall chuckled. “You’ve gotten stronger.”
“I don’t like that, Niall. Stay in bed.” I commanded. “I’ll get D’Arcy or Vered to take the twins fishing. I’ll go myself if I have to. But I really do think you should stay in bed.”
Niall stood again. “I just need to get something to eat is all. Go on. I’ll be down in a few minuets.”
I didn’t like it, but I silently conceded and left his room. I went and found Vered, hoping his company could somehow ease my mind. I found him in the library, having taken his lunch and scurried off there were he felt more comfortable. He sat before the fire, a roll in one hand and a book in the other.
I slipped my arm around his waist and curled into him. He was reading another book filled with the language I couldn’t read.
“Something is wrong.” He said to me, setting down the book.
I shrug. “I’m sure it isn’t anything. It’s Niall.”
Vered lifts my hand and kisses the cup of my palm. He stalls for a moment and I hear him sniff.
“What?” I scoff at him.
He looks down at me confused and bewildered. “You smell like my sister.”
“Nadine?”
Vered smells my palm again. “It’s faint, but I can tell it is there. I could not mistake that scent.”
I turn and hold my palm to my nose. Of course, only Vered and his beastly senses could detect something so faint. “That can’t be possible. She vanished in the garden.”
Vered’s eyes were distant, hazy. “Yes but…where could that scent have come from?”
“I only touched Niall.” I say. “He held Nadine in the castle when we came to look for you. But that was ages ago.”
Vered shook his head. “I have not smelled it on him since either. It’s baffling me.”
Two:
She was there again, as if waiting on him to return from wherever he had gone. They didn’t speak at first, just acknowledged each other’s presence. The library was such a great, grand place, with so much to occupy yourself with. And Nadine seemed absorbed in a massive, old tome. She had it sat on the floor before her, the pages and her skin aglow in the light of the fireplace.
Niall sat up on the sofa, feeling pretty assured he had fallen asleep there while talking to me and Vered.
“Do you like poetry?” Nadine asked suddenly. She looked up at him and curled her legs under herself.
Niall shook his head slowly, still comprehending these strange encounters. “My mother used to read it to me when I was a child.” He looked down, seeing the ornate pages of the book spread open before Nadine. “But I’m afraid I haven’t encountered anymore since.”
“Your mother.” Nadine murmured softly. “Fianna didn’t speak much of her.”
I shook my head. “She died when Fianna was just a baby.” I put my forearms against my knees, leaning over. “All Fianna has known is Granny and us.”
“And how did that happen?” Nadine asked.
Niall chuckled. “And how did you happen?”
Nadine smiled softly, unsurely. “An accident.”
My brother nodded, fiddling his thumbs. “My father was an accident.” He said with a gentle nod. “He got gored by a wild boar.”
Nadine averted her eyes. “Oh…”
“I think that’s why D’Arcy took such an interest in medicine…because the doctor of our village couldn’t really do anything.” Niall’s dark eyes took the chance to scan over Nadine, her pale skin, fragile looking hands. The sharp outline of her face was what stuck out most to him. Her thin, pointed nose. Her small but shapely mouth. She reminded him of brambles and thorns. Thin and delicate, but he knew if he moved at her without caution, he would bleed.
“Fianna hadn’t even been born yet.” Niall then chuckled. “Actually, Fianna hadn’t even begun to show in mother yet. We only had Granny’s word to go on we had a sister coming.”
Nadine looked back up at Niall. “How old were you then?”
“Old enough, but still not old enough to take care of a family of six, soon to be seven.” Niall answered lowly. “We had to rely on Granny back then.”
“Her fortunes.” Nadine beamed.
Niall nodded. “Yes, her fortune telling.” He studied Nadine’s smile, so faint and sweet, and even baring the same color as the berries that grew just at the edge of the forest he loved so much. “Did Fianna talk that much about us?”
“Vered liked it when she did.” Nadine answered with a slight nod. “He liked the smile it brought to her face.”
Niall nodded slightly, leaning towards her. “You said Fianna scared you.”
Nadine sighed, a shy smile appearing on her face. “I just knew she was meant for Vered,” she murmured. “What else could of brought her to the castle? From the moment she forced herself inside, I knew. She was, is, so strong.”
“But…” Niall tried to pick his words carefully, “why afraid?”
Nadine’s smile vanished and she stared blankly into the fireplace. She smoothed her palm out, pressing into the spine of the book that was open in her lap. “I realized…that no one would come for me.” She avoided his suddenly sympathetic stare and shook her head. “That was my curse.”
“Then what am I?”
She shook her head again. “Who knows?” She laughed. “I still can’t figure out what I am.”
Niall reached out tentatively, placing his hand over hers. Nadine jerked, then shivered. She looked down at his hand, up his arm, and then into Niall’s eyes. “You scare me, too.”
Niall laughed softly. “Why?”
Nadine tried to avoid his gaze, but she couldn’t force herself to look away from him. She trembled under his hand. “Because I won’t be able to stay with you.” Her voice the flicker of a dying flame. “I can’t keep you.”
Niall’s eyes widened. “Nadine?”
She stood suddenly, the book slipped from her lap and bursting into dust. “I’m sorry. I can’t…” She then took off running, becoming a wind. A wind that blew out the fire, leaving Niall in shadows.
“Nadine!” Niall sat up shouting.
“Who?”
Niall turned, seeing D’Arcy sitting by himself at a table, books open before him. He turned, looking at the fireplace roaring, at the floor where the book had turned to dust, it was clean.
“Have a bad dream?” D’Arcy asked, shutting the book before him.
Niall ran his fingers through his hair. “No…” He stood up. “I need to see Vered.” He said as he began walking out of the library.
“He and Fianna are in the garden!” D’Arcy called after him.
Before Niall had even reached the garden Vered began to twitch. He turned his nose up to the wind and inhaled deeply.
“What’s wrong?” I asked.
He looked ahead, eyes wide, but brows cocked suspiciously. “I smell her again.”
My mouth hung open slightly. “You mean, Nadine?”
He turned abruptly, twisting around me and bracing himself towards the door as Niall came running out.
“Niall?” Vered and I echo each other.

nocturne and vengeance are definitely both amazing games in their own right but ngl of all the things 5/5v doesn’t take from nocturne’s dna, i’m so so grateful the bosses were actually mostly well designed.
only issue with them at least generally was level scaling in base 5 but that’s a general game design flaw.
smt is definitely unique compared to a lot of jrpgs even within its own franchise especially once the press turn system was introduced. it actually rewards players for learning the game. sure, other jrpgs technically do the same, but it’s inconsequential if you buff or debuff or exploit weaknesses in most games. at best, it gets you through the fight faster.
the thing about nocturne’s bosses is, at least for all the additional labyrinth of amala stuff, it doesn’t take that much advantage of press turn. way too many bosses have no weaknesses, and while that does influence the usage of skills like bright might and dark might, pierce, and almighty moves, it’s not really that good a design because it encourages very specific builds. by the end of the game, you’re gonna have demifiend as a main attacker, have his build be physical based, maybe one extra attacker, but everyone else be support. this doesn’t count how much pierce does end up being relied on in the end.
yes there are gonna be meta sets, yet this doesn’t excuse the real lack of flexibility despite the entire system being based around flexibility except when it feels like it doesn’t want to.
this really becomes a noticeable flaw with lucifer. yes, luci’s a cool fight. music’s fantastic, arena even cooler, but it does boil down to what smt tried to avoid with its bosses, which is the same old same old “hits hard with inflated hp” thing, which is a real shame.
4 and 4a definitely tried to divert from this and had a few gimmick fights, but most of the actual unique fights came from the dlc portion. at least the bosses had actual weaknesses, though, and let’s be real 4a’s home to probably the best combat system in the franchise so far.
5/5v hits different though, since it feels like everyone’s on an equal playing field. a lot of the superbosses in particular use multiple team members like the protag, and every enemy can use omagatoki skills. heck, a few normal story bosses and subquest bosses do this.
my favorite designed boss is definitely satan because of how much he messes with omagatoki skills and makes you have to memorize what does which, what weaknesses the demons he summons have, what the order is, and how to combat megido ark. it’s challenging, it’s fun, the reward is more than worth it.
while there are significantly more cheese strats because of how much has been added, they don’t guarantee being satisfying. it already takes a lot of creativity for some of these to be made in the first place so that’s an extra bonus. yes you could abuse strategize, and you have every right to. doesn’t make the fight entertaining.
only boss i can think of that’s genuinely badly designed is masakado but even then he’s a challenge. if you don’t know how scarlet blade works, yeah he can be a problem, and he does at least have attack variety to check if you covered weaknesses.
not every boss needs to be a gimmick, but it’s a shame a lot of turn based games take advantage of the systems put in place, and that’s why a lot of them end up being not very fun to play. the tools are there, just use them.
but vengeance is home to significant examples of good boss design and has actually surpassed the other games in that regard. they may be technically “easier” because most bosses end up having weaknesses, but it doesn’t cheapen the experience and it’s a lot better than how nocturne does it.

pov: you have a bad habit of going out and drinking, which shuri doesn’t like as she worries for your safety.
short + sweet headcanon w/ protective shuri✨
shuri sighed heavily as she put her phone down on the bed next to her after calling you for the past hour. you haven’t been picking up and she grew more and more worried, her bouncing leg showing her anxiety. she tried to connect to your kimoyo beads but quickly noticed that you’d left them at home as you always did even when she told you it was important you took them with you incase anything happened.
you left to go to the nightclub with your friends at around 8pm and it was currently 4am as shuri purposely and patiently stayed up to wait for you. normally, she was in the lab anyway so it wasn’t hard to avoid sleeping but being in her bedroom was making it increasingly difficult to remain awake. although, her constant worrying about you made it easier. she’d insisted to come with you but you knew she had work to do in the morning and you’d feel guilty if she wasn’t able to so, so you convinced her not to come and just stay home.
“shit man, where the fuck is she?” shuri questioned into thin air as she sat up, running her hands lazily through her curls as she thought about what to do. just then, she heard the door slam open and shut as the sound of clacking heels echoed around the house. hearing it, shuri shot out of bed and went into the living room, seeing you leaning down on the counter and looking absolutely out of it with your head down and hair splayed everywhere.
“y/n, baby are you okay?” shuri hurriedly rushed over to you, lifting you up by your shoulders and checking to see if you were okay. you lazily lifted your head up at her and smiled, trying to reach up to her face but nearly falling in the process as you missed your footing. shuri held you again before you fell and put an arm around your shoulder, guiding you into your shared room. she sat you on the soft bed and turned off all the lights in the house before closing the door gently.
you slumped down onto the bed, your eyes barely opening as your head pounded and mouth was dry; you didn’t mean to get so wasted, but your friends were egging you on to drink more and you never turned down a challenge so…voila.
“y/n y/l/n.” shuri called out in a stern voice as she stayed, leaning up against the cream coloured door, arms crossed like a nursery teacher.
“mmm.” you groaned out, not able to make sentences yet as you tossed and turned.
“do you have any idea what the time is?” shuri asked, her tone becoming harsher.
“ehh…no.” you said quietly, not really being able to comprehend what she was saying.
“it’s fucking 4am and you left at 8pm? you said you’d be back by 1am, and not to mention you didn’t answer your phone or bring your kimoyo beads? what if something happened to you? i stop at nothing to guarantee your safety but you go and do incredibly stupid things that make it hard to look out for you. at this point i’m actually so tired of it, you need to limit your drinking because it’s getting out of hand!”
you slowly opened your eyes and leaned up, sensing that she was upset at you.
“baby…are you really that mad? come on, i’m here aren’t i?” you pouted, squinting at her as you tried to make out her face.
“that’s not my point here,” shuri began as she walked towards you, “my point is that you are being very irresponsible, you’re an adult for gods sake not a teenager.” shuri said sassily, sitting on the bed as she watched you try to talk back, but not being able to because you’re completely drunk out of your mind.
“mmm..sorry baby.” is all you managed to get out as you were completely void of emotion which was a complete contrast to your sober self which would’ve been sobbing if shuri talked to you like this.
“whatever, just go to sleep, i’ll get you some pills and water or else you’re gonna end up with one heck of a hangover tomorrow.” shuri rolled her eyes, getting up to rustle through her drawers for the pills and opening an unopened water bottle to place at your bedside.
she was able to make you take them before helping you to undress, taking off your high heels, tight blue dress and even wiping off your heavy makeup. then, she dried your face off and slipped you into some comfy pj’s whilst you basically fell asleep as was doing it like a literal baby. yes, she was mad at you but fucking hell you were cute as hell, she’d give you a proper scolding tomorrow, when you were sober and could actually understand. she tucked you in and got in bed herself in which you were already snoring hard as fuck and she quietly laughed , kissing your forehead before wishing you a goodnight, “goodnight my angel, bast i don’t know what i would’ve if something bad had happened to you.” she muttered, finding comfort in hearing the low thrumming of your chest and eventually going to sleep too, dwelling in the comfort that you were safe and in her arms as you should be.

Dragon Ball Super 015
Tumblr media
Finally, a good episode.
Tumblr media
Okay, let me start off by saying that I have occasionally defended the Flanderization of Videl in Dragon Ball Super, but now that I’m rewatching this show, I realize what people have been complaining about.  Every time we see Gohan and Videl on this show, they’re way too saccharine and dull.
In Gohan’s case, I don’t mind it as much, since he’s been a nerd since Day One, and without an enemy to fight, he’s not going to suddenly rock the orange gi and kick ass like he does on all the promotional art for this series would like you to believe.
But in Videl’s case, being a baby-maker is pretty much her entire role in this show.  At least 18 gets to tease Krillin and look for big cash payouts wherever possible.  Videl doesn’t get any of that here.  And my defense of this has always been that Videl’s character arc started with her as a teenage vigilante, but she doesn’t have to stay there, and she’s allowed to become something else over the course of the story.  But Dragon Ball Super never settles on what that something else is.  Gohan has his biology career, but what does Videl want outside of her home life?
The closest we’ve ever seen to a payoff for this was in the Super Hero movie, where they needed a reason for Piccolo to have to pick Pan up from school, and that meant Videl had to be busy with something else, something as important to her as Gohan’s studies are to him.  And that turned out to be a martial arts class that she teaches, which makes plenty of sense.  For some reason, I kept wanting to say it was a self-defense class, but she told Piccolo they were in a tournament that day, which sounds more advanced.  Then again, this is Videl we’re talking about, and I can imagine how she started out wanting to teach women basic self-defense skills, and it turned into this badass dojo getting into rivalries with other schools.
I have a whole head canon about Videl’s school, but I don’t have time for that right now.  In DBS #15, she’s about to cook dinner, when Gohan makes a big deal about wanting to cook for her, only he’s really bad at it, and they both talk to her belly, which gets pretty cloying after a while.
Tumblr media
Meanwhile, Vegeta’s been standing on a mesa for several hours.  Days?  Long enough that dust has piled up on his boots.  How is this training?
Tumblr media
Meanwhile, Goku wants to go back to training on King Kai’s planet, but Chi-Chi refuses to let him go.  She’s already spent and saved all the money they got from Mr. Satan in Episode 1, and so she wants Goku to go back to his career as a farmer.  Even if they don’t need the money, she still wants him to be a regular working joe, especially now that he’s about to be a grandfather.
I should point out that Cynthia Crantz’s performance as Chi-Chi gets a lot easier on the ears in this one.  Crantz has played Chi-Chi since way back in 1999, and she’s always been excellent, but she sounded like she was recovering from a cold in Episodes 1-14, and it feels like she got back in the groove around here.
Tumblr media
But the real meat and bones of this episode is a press event held by YOUR World Champion of Martial Arts, Mister Satan.  During the Goku/Beerus fight, the public could feel shockwaves from the punches, and everyone wants to know what that was all about.  So Mr. Satan weaves a tall tale about how he rescued the world from a dangerous criminal syndicate, only to discover that they were secretly in league with...
Tumblr media
Beebus, the God of Destruction!  Naturally, Mr. Satan challenged this menace, but he wasn’t strong enough to defeat him, until...
Tumblr media
... Mr. Satan discovered a divine power of his own, and transformed into a god himself!  Fuck yeah!
Tumblr media
WELCOME TO EARTH, YOU BAT-EARED JERK!
Tumblr media
GET HIS ASS!
Tumblr media
YEEEEAAAAAAHHHH!
Tumblr media
Then some aliens show up.  Turns out they somehow learned of the real Battle of Gods that took place on Earth, and they wanted to congratulate the hero who fought Beerus and lived to tell the tale.  Mr. Satan accepts the credit, but then the alien crew’s strongest warrior challenges Mr. Satan to a match.  According to the tradition on their planet (Planet Snack), he can’t properly honor Satan’s heroics until he’s experienced his power firsthand.
So Mr. Satan uses the old stomach ache trick to excuse himself.  He calls Goku, Vegeta, and Gohan, hoping to find someone to fight in his place, but can’t reach any of them.  By the time he comes out of the restroom, everyone’s assembled a fighting stage, so he can’t back out.
Tumblr media
Then Goku flies along, carrying his tractor.  It broke down, and Bulma’s not in to fix it for him, so he’s just sort of been flying around town, hoping to find someone else to help him.  Satan offers to help him out, but first he wants Goku to take his place in this fight, and Goku’s down to clown, just as long as his wife doesn’t find out.
Tumblr media
Except his wife does find out, because she’s passing by this same area after grocery shopping with Piccolo.  Uh-oh.
Tumblr media
So Goku’s busted, and he asks Satan to punch him so he can pretend to get knocked away so no one will notice him flying.  But he has to grab his tractor on the way, so it looks really awkward and hilarious.  Also, this doesn’t fool Chi-Chi at all.  He might as well have fought the alien.  I mean, in for a penny...
Tumblr media
So now Mr. Satan is completely cornered, so he has no choice but to fight.  He psyches himself up, but as the alien strikes, he sees something that takes all the fight out of him...
Tumblr media
... which would be Mr. Satan’s dog, Bee, who had been waiting in the car, like a good boy.  Then he crawled out of the car window, like a good boy and walked up to the ring, like a good boy.  And now he’s frightening the aliens, like a good boy.  Bee is a good boy, is what I’m trying to say here.
Tumblr media
I guess the aliens were like cat people or something?  I mean, they kind of look like cats, but not enough for the joke to land, I think.  Then again, Beerus also looked like a cat, so maybe they had to adjust the design so these aliens wouldn’t be mistaken for Beerus.  Anyway they hate dogs, so they impose a quarantine on Earth.   There’s some lines that suggest they were planning to conquer Earth, but I don’t understand why they would even consider such a thing when the planet had just repelled Beerus.  Anyway, it’s full of dogs, so they’re not going back.
Tumblr media
But they left behind the medal they presented to Mr. Satan, and Bee picks it up for him, like a good boy.  Every frame of Bee in Dragon Ball Super looks like it was drawn by someone who only saw a dog once in his entire life, and he’s trying to recreate the image from memory, and it looks awesome.
Tumblr media
Meanwhile, Goku’s back at his house, but he doesn’t dare go inside to see his deformed son...
Tumblr media
... because Chi-Chi will shove this pole up his butt if she sees him.
Tumblr media
So now Goku has to sleep in the yard.  Is this some sort of kinky thing they do?  You be the judge.
And that’s it.  Let’s check out one more shot of Super Saiyan Mr. Satan before we go.
Tumblr media
Yeah, that’s the stuff.

ruination
After spending all day crying, screaming, and punching an old friend in the face, Will is more exhausted than he’s ever been.
Actually, that’s not true. Will was much more exhausted when he was seventeen, after he and Lucy brough baby Elenore home from the hospital. She just couldn’t get used to how loud the world was, how cold. And maybe she never got used to it because if it weren’t for her impulsivity, her emotions, her desire to be held and loved and cared for, none of them would be here now.
This afternoon, Elenore told Will and Lucy that she’s pregnant. What’s more, she’s planning to keep it, which still knocks the wind out of Will’s lungs. He could hardly believe it when Lucy decided to have Elenore, but Elenore having a baby herself? Will thought she would have learned from their awkward, exhausted example. He keeps thinking he could change her mind, but he knows it’s not his place. Besides, he thinks he’ll like being a young grandfather. He can run around the park and dance around the floor in ways that the other grandfathers couldn’t dream of.
That doesn’t make it any easier.
When he closes his eyes, he pictures Elenore with her life around her ankles. Sure, she’s older than he and Lucy were when they had her, but not by much. Elenore is twenty-one, and if she has this baby in March, she’ll still be a month away from twenty-two. She’s a young twenty-one, too, what with her sense of humor and flair for the dramatic. She’ll be a fun mom, that’s for certain. But Will can’t stop sighing. There’s something so selfishly awful about watching the little girl you raised to be careful, to be responsible, to be confident within herself, choose exactly the path you wished she wouldn’t. There was supposed to be more for her. College wasn’t supposed to bring about the ruination of her life.
The problem is that he said those last few things out loud, not long after Elenore worked up the courage to tell the truth. She turned bright red and cried harder than she did when she was a brand-new baby. Said she couldn’t believe he couldn’t see it from her side. Him, she said, of all people.
How could you say I’m ruining my life? she asked. How dare you say my baby will ruin my life? Did I ruin yours?
Will’s breath hitches just thinking about it.
Of course Elenore didn’t ruin his life. She changed it. She made it. Anything he could have been without her was for naught. Will was meant to be Elenore’s dad, and everything after that was because of it.
Elenore was supposed to be anyone she wanted to be. Not who her parents made her. Not her teachers. Not Charlie in the middle of a too-early midlife crisis. Leave it to Charlie to become middle-aged well before he’s supposed to. It was always like he couldn’t wait to have five o’clock shadow and a habit of drinking during the day.
The problem is that he said those things out loud, too.
Oh, Daddy, Elenore pleaded with him. Don’t you see? I’m doing this because I am who I want to be.
Will could cry. And before Lucy comes back into the bedroom, he does. Just a little.
This is not the ruination of their lives. Nothing ever is. Not Lucy’s teenage pregnancy, not Sam’s death, not what happened between Elenore and Charlie. This will not ruin Elenore’s life, and it will not ruin his. Not now. Not ever.
It will change it.
It will make it.

Starting a New Challenge
Tumblr media
It’s been a while since I had a Sims game where I really cared what happened with the family, the last one was when I married Caleb Vatore and J. Huntington and they were such a great couple that Caleb had to turn J into a vampire so they could both live forever. I just wish their children didn’t seem to inherit the worst facial features of both, which is interesting since Caleb almost never has weird looking children, except with J.
Tumblr media
They sat on the sofa and held hands without me doing anything, then sat there staring at each other long enough that i had time to think to take a shot. They are seriously adorable together.

And yes, the looks of my sims are important for some reason. I think this is the only Sims game where I’ve really cared about it, and after pondering why, I think it’s because the sims are human-looking enough to cause the uncanny valley effect.
Malcolm Landgraab is a perfect example. He looks just off enough to make you uncomfortable.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I did a make-over on him a while back, but forgot to save him. This is what he came out looking like with just a few tweaks to make his face look more normal (and a new hair style).
Tumblr media
And I totally got sidetracked.
Anyway, I want to enjoy playing again, not just building, so I’m coming up with a new challenge.
Start with a new sim or your favorite preplayed sim. Move them onto whichever map you want to play, in the cheapest section of the map, choosing the option to bulldoze the pre-existing house if there is one.
Preparation:
Completely clear a map (or use Newcrest).
Remove every community lot in your game. An easy way to do it is to change them all to Residential.
Kick all the families out of houses (and if you have MCCC, set it so no one else can move in or destroy the houses, you’ll have to rebuild them later anyway).
Pick the cheapest community on the map you’re playing and put starter houses on each lot. For mine, I’m starting on Willow Creek and I’ve added Pottersville, both shipping container houses (the 8x10 one twice), and one of the single-wide mobile homes. You can find all of them here (https://www.ea.com/games/the-sims/the-sims-4/pc/gallery/browse?category=all&searchtype=ea_origin_id&sortby=downloads&time=all&searchquery=Teegers1&max=50&maxis=false).
Go to Manage Households and choose Sims to move into the empty homes in the neighborhood.
Tumblr media
Playing:
Start with 20k. Buy one of the lots you put a house on and move in.
Find a job.
When you have enough money, buy a store in a different part of town. As you earn money, build your new lot into whatever community building you’d like to have (library, gym, park, etc.), except a museum.
When the community lot is finished, sell it, then go to World Select, edit the lot, and set it as whatever lot type you’ve created.
Museums can only be filled with your sims’ work. And only Masterpieces. Masterpieces can’t be sold, they must be donated to a museum instead. Save the works until you have enough to fill a museum, then build one.
You can only use community lots that you’ve built, so if you want a library to make it easier to skill build, you need to build one.
Tumblr media
The Rules:
You can only marry a sim from the neighborhood you live in.
Each heir receives 20k when they become a young adult and must move to a new map. Pick the cheapest neighborhood that hasn’t been lived in yet, fill it with homes, and choose the sims you want for neighbors (you can move out 1 sim from your original neighborhood to add to the new one if your sim has a high school sweetheart).
This will get harder as the game goes on and lot prices go up. Soon, you’ll probably find that you need to build a tiny house on a large lot until you can afford to expand it.
Work: Your Sim and their heirs must choose a different job and a different starting aspiration. Career branches count as different jobs, so it is possible to have a child start off in the same career as their parent as long as they change branches when they reach the right level.
Notes:
You can play with aging on or off.  Aging off will allow your sim to learn more skills before they grow up, but it will only affect your game, not give them a huge advantage in the challenge.
Mods are acceptable as long as they don’t increase the money the sim earns.
College is also acceptable, but if a sim gets pregnant while at college, they must drop out as soon as the baby is born and get a job instead. They can return once the baby becomes a child, but can only take 1 class a semester and must continuing working while they do.

The Future of Occupational Therapy and How I Am Getting Ready
The future of Occupational Therapy  is full of exciting changes. As I learn more about OT, I see that technology is becoming important, mental health is getting more attention, and we are working more in communities. This makes me excited about what’s coming and how I can be part of it. Technology is becoming a big part of OT. One example is telehealth, where therapists help clients over the phone or video calls. This is useful for people who cannot come to a clinic. I also see how apps can help clients remember things, like when to take their medicine, which makes their lives easier (Duff, 2021).
But not everyone is comfortable with technology, and some people may prefer to meet in person. As I prepare for my future in OT, I want to learn how to use technology while making sure my clients still feel cared for. I think it’s important to listen to what works best for them.
Mental health is becoming a big part of OT. Many people have problems like anxiety or depression, which make everyday activities difficult. As an OT, I want to help people with their mental health, not just their physical health. I’ve learned that helping someone with both can improve their overall well-being (Smith, 2020).
I am preparing by learning how to create a safe and welcoming space for clients to talk about their feelings. I believe understanding their emotions is just as important as helping them physically.
Another change in OT is working more in communities. OT’s are helping people at schools, workplaces, and homes, not just in hospitals or clinics. This means we can help more people, like children with learning challenges or older adults who need home adaptations (Klein & Kemp, 2021).
But I know not all communities have the money or knowledge about OT. I want to help by showing people the value of our work and making sure OT is available to everyone who needs it. I am learning how to advocate for OT and explain how we can help improve people’s lives.
As I prepare for my career, I realize OT will keep changing. I know I need to keep learning and stay curious. I plan to  read, and listen to others in the field. This way, I can keep growing and be the best OT I can be for my clients.
The future of OT is full of exciting possibilities. With new technology, a focus on mental health, and more work in communities, OT is becoming more important in people’s lives. I’m excited to be part of this future and am working hard to prepare. My goal is to keep learning and adapting so I can give my clients the best care possible.

How To Spiritually Mature And Activate Your Divine Masculine Energy
Do you want to experience more wholeness in your life? Do you want more depth and wisdom to carry through everything you do? Balancing your masculine and feminine energy is key if you want to develop spiritual maturity. We’ve already talked here about how to embrace your Divine Feminine. Now let’s get into the specifics of your Divine Masculine energy, and how activating it can drastically improve your life.
In the last post, I talked about the importance of constantly assessing where you are on the spectrum of masculine and feminine energy – especially when you’re dealing with something challenging. Because once you see where you’re out of balance, it’s easier to move over to the energy that will be most helpful to develop. So definitely look back on that post and video since I’m not going to touch on those details as much here.
THE PROBLEM I SEE THE MOST WITH WOUNDED MASCULINE ENERGY
I will remind us all though that we all have masculine and feminine energy regardless of our sex and gender. And when we’re too far on one side or when we see either energy as bad – that generally means we’re in a wounded state and misunderstanding what the Divine aspects are.
We often see this reluctance to intentionally activate our masculine nature in our culture (United States) since people associate masculine energy with toxic masculinity. Again, since it’s mostly women who are reading this, I want to mention that I believe this is the shadow side of feminism which has negatively affected our attitude toward strong men, holding our partners to high standards, and providing our children with healthy male role models. But what many women don’t see is that when they’re attacking masculinity & the patriachy, they’re actually in both their wounded feminine (victimhood) and wounded masculine (the fighting and attacking).
So it’s important to keep that in mind as we continue. What we’re trying to achieve is the Divine state of both Masculine and Feminine energy which is where we experience more peace, love, and understanding in our lives.
How do you do this?
RECOGNIZE WOUNDED MASCULINE VS. DIVINE MASCULINE ENERGY
First, like I mentioned for the Divine Feminine, you need to honestly reflect on how you’re showing up energetically. What is YOUR part in the conflict you’re experiencing and how can YOU change. You have complete control over your energy.
These descriptions of masculine energy will help you see if you are in a wounded or divine state.
WOUNDED MASCULINE ENERGY:
Agressive
Easily offended
Aligned with Ego
Defensive – making up excuses to protect Ego
Overly competitive
Success driven – image matters
Materialistic
Selfish
Withdrawn emotions – not sharing your heart, others don’t deserve access to you
Stuck in mind
Refuses help
Spiritually disconnected
DIVINE MASCULINE ENERGY:
Encouraging
Protects & guides
Inspired action
Clear communication
Responsible
Expanded vision
Aligned work
Spiritual purpose
Honest & humble
Uplifting strength
Expresses emotions
Disciplined & driven
In the video above, I talk how I was constantly in a wounded masculine state as a child and teenager. It may have had something to do with not having a father in the home. Men usually do carry the masculine energy with two heterosexual parents. I had a single mom who had to hold both feminine & masculine. And I think all of us ended up being way too much in the masculine in an attempt to balance. It was an overcorrection. Now I’m learning in my marriage and as a mom how I need to let that go and let my husband lead more. It comfortable for everyone that way.
I also share in the video about a recent experience I had where I needed to be in my Divine Masculine. It was a difficult situation, and I took charge as a leader, handling it in a very calm, mature way.
I really suggest you do the same as what I’m doing with you here to become more comfortable with masculine energy. Think of times when you were in a wounded state. How did that work out for you. Think of times you were in your Divine Masculine energy. How did that work out? When you become more familiar with it, it will be easier for you to tap into it when needed.
FIND ROLE MODELS FOR DIVINE MASCULINE ENERGY
Next, I recommend that you find role models of both men and women who have healthy, Divine Masculine energy. Like I mentioned for Divine Feminine, these figures do not have to be family and friends. They can be social or historical figures, archetypes. The Divine Masculine is a born leader but does so compassionately in a way that makes everyone involved feel included and valued.
Oftentimes when we need to heal our wounded masculine it means that we don’t have a strong spiritual connection. It is in our nature to honor a higher power, to show some degree of devotion to the Universe, God, or Creator – whatever you want to call it. When we don’t do this, there’s a tendency to show devotion to people or institutions instead. We see people worshipping doctors, medicine, political figures, universities, and certain ideas & values instead. This is not a healthy switch. It keeps us in the Ego, tethered to our physical experience and out of spirit. So just know there may be more room to heal with masculine energy this way, to include trusting in the Higher Spirit.
AIR & FIRE ELEMENTS AS DIVINE MASCULINE ENERGY SUPPORT
Finally, as I did with Divine Feminine, I recommend that you work with the Elements of Nature. Air and Fire are more yang elements since they’re lighter, hotter, ethereal, related to power & thought, and experience energetically in the 3rd chakra (Manipura – Solar Plexus) and 4th chakras (Anahata – Heart). So I consider them to be more masculine energy.
Check out the posts here to learn how to align with these elements through interesting and helpful rituals:

IN CONCLUSION
Hope this information helps you move forward in your life in a more balanced and empowering way! Please let me know what you think in the comments of the YouTube video.
Remember that we can work together 1:1 in my in-person or online Holistic Healing Sessions if you need further support.
Many blessings to you friend…

5 min read NASA’s Modern History Makers: Sarah Tipler Sarah Tipler poses in front of a mural of NASA astronaut Michael Anderson in Plattsburgh, New York. Credit: Sarah Tipler Growing up, Sarah Tipler always felt out of place. She had trouble with time management, structuring her day, and focusing her attention, but she didn’t know why. “For all of my undergraduate education, I really struggled to keep up despite understanding the material,” Tipler said. “It took a ton of work to make good grades happen, including asking for extensions and pulling last-minute all-nighters. I used to beat myself up for my apparent lack of self-control.” Tipler enrolled in college after high school but withdrew after facing depression and other mental health challenges. A few years later, she took another stab at school to become a French teacher but found the career wasn’t for her. After realizing studying computer science and engineering fascinated her, she applied for a Pathways internship at NASA’s Glenn Research Center in Cleveland. “At NASA, I knew that I was working on the kinds of projects that are helping advance humanity’s knowledge of the universe and the world we live in,” she said. It wasn’t until transitioning to a full-time computer scientist job at Glenn that she finally got some answers about herself. “At NASA, I was feeling happy, I was in a great place in my life, and I was excited about where I was, but I was still struggling to effectively manage my workload,” she said. “That’s what led me to seek help and obtain a diagnosis of ADHD [attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder], which has really helped me understand a lot of the issues that I’ve had in my life and put a lot of things in a different perspective.” Tipler’s colleagues provided her encouragement and a support system, and she’s now helping NASA take its next giant leap with the Artemis missions. Tipler’s team develops code that models the power systems of the International Space Station, the Orion spacecraft, and the Power and Propulsion Element (PPE) that will help propel Gateway, NASA’s future lunar space station. This SPACE (or system power analysis for capability evaluation) code can predict how much power is generated by solar arrays and determine whether it is sufficient to support important spacecraft systems, like life support and propulsion. For example, throughout Gateway’s journey, the solar arrays that generate power for PPE won’t always be able to face the sun and generate maximum energy. “We need to make sure that when Gateway is using its thrusters, which require a lot of electrical power, we’ll have enough for the rest of the spacecraft,” Tipler explains. Tipler’s team is also developing a graphical user interface that will make it easier for the Flight Operations Directorate at NASA’s Johnson Space Center in Houston to use the code. “It’s an incredible feeling to know that I’m some small part of that giant puzzle,” she said. “It makes all of the challenges and obstacles that I go through feel worth it when I get to sit down and look at things from the big picture.” Learning to navigate ADHD has been a long journey, Tipler says, but her family, friends, fiancé, and five rambunctious cats have been there to cheer her up and encourage her. In addition, being able to work remotely from her home in northern New York has been critical to her success at work. “I have found that teleworking and being fully remote has really helped with my ADHD because my focus isn’t always consistent, so this adds a lot more flexibility into my work life and has helped me be the best productive person I can be,” she said. Ensuring open communication with coworkers and having conversations about expectations has also kept Tipler on the right track, and she has found ways to thrive. “I think there are some really cool, unique perspectives that people living with different disabilities can bring to the workplace in the ways we think differently or work to overcome obstacles or problems,” she said. Often, practices that help people with disabilities can be beneficial to all workers, Tipler says, such as offering written agendas and notes instead of just verbal information or being open to new workplace approaches. “You don’t always need to know what someone is dealing with to make things better for everyone,” she said. Tipler wants people working to overcome their own obstacles to know that they are not alone and to remind others that some disabilities, like ADHD, can seem invisible. “Remember that you never know what someone else is going through,” she said. “The best approach is to operate with kindness.” NASA is in a Golden Era of aeronautics and space exploration. In partnership with commercial and private businesses, NASA is currently making history with significant missions such as Artemis, Quesst, and electrified aviation. Sell My House Fast Wisconsin
Selling your house can be a stressful process. If you need to quickly sell your house in Wisconsin, it can be even more challenging.
Fortunately, there are some helpful steps you can take to make the process a little easier and get your house sold fast.
In this article, we’ll look at the different options available to those who need to sell their house quickly in Wisconsin.
Read on to learn how to get the best results from selling your home in a timely manner.
Why Are You Thinking Of Selling?
I’m thinking of Sell My House Fast Wisconsin because I need to move quickly for a new job.
It’s an exciting opportunity that I can’t pass up, and so I’ve decided to put my house on the market as soon as possible.
Preparing the house for sale will take some time, but with help from a reputable real estate agent and an experienced attorney, I’m confident that I’ll be able to sell quickly and get the best price possible.
My goal is to have everything taken care of in a matter of weeks, not months.
Thankfully, Wisconsin has laws in place that protect both buyers and sellers during the home-selling process, so I know I’m making the right decision.
Wisconsin’s Current Housing Market
Wisconsin’s housing market is continuing to show signs of strength. Home prices are on the rise, and there’s no doubt that the economy in the state is doing well.
But what can potential buyers expect when they’re looking for a home? In this article, we’ll take a look at Wisconsin’s current housing market and explore what it has to offer.
The housing market in Wisconsin has been steadily increasing over the past few years. Prices have been rising steadily throughout most of the state, and many new homes are being built every year. Additionally, mortgage rates remain low for those who want to purchase a home, making it easier than ever before for people to become homeowners.
With so much activity in Wisconsin’s real estate market, it’s clear that now is an exciting time for potential buyers to enter into the market.
Choosing The Right Sales Method For Your Home
Buying or selling a home can be an intimidating process, but knowing the right sales method for your home can make things easier.
There are two main methods of selling a home: through a real estate agent or FSBO (For Sale By Owner).
When it comes to using a real estate agent, they will manage the entire process for you from start to finish. They will list your property on the market, advertise it, and show it to potential buyers. You’ll pay them a commission when the sale goes through, typically between 5-7%.
On the other hand, if you go with FSBO, you’ll be responsible for all aspects of the sale and won’t have to pay any commissions. It may require more work on your part but you can save money in doing so.
It’s important to take into consideration how much time and effort you’re willing to put into selling your property before deciding which route is best for you. If you want to avoid most of the hassle associated with selling a home, going through a real estate agent is probably your best option. However, if you have some extra time and are comfortable handling the sale yourself, FSBO might be an ideal choice.
Selling Through A Realtor
When it comes to selling your home in Wisconsin, you have a few different options. Choosing the right sales method for your home should depend on the type of property, the local market, and other factors. Selling through a realtor is one of the most popular options.
Realtors provide a wealth of knowledge and experience that can help you sell your home quickly and for the best price possible. They will assess your property, recommend any improvements needed before listing, set an appropriate asking price, create marketing materials and list your home on multiple websites to get maximum exposure.
Realtors also handle negotiations with buyers, coordinate inspections and appraisals, and handle all paperwork associated with the sale. Additionally, they can provide access to resources such as mortgage lenders or contractors who can help make the process smoother.
Selling through a realtor may require some upfront costs for staging or marketing materials, but ultimately it is often worth the cost to ensure that you get top dollar for your home when selling in Wisconsin’s current housing market.
For Sale By Owner
The For Sale By Owner (FSBO) route is an option for Wisconsin residents who want to avoid paying a realtor and take on the responsibility of selling their home themselves. FSBO allows sellers to list their property on the market without any third-party involvement, eliminating costly commissions that would be typically paid to real estate agents.
This can be an attractive option for many sellers, as they don’t have to worry about added fees and expenses eating into their profits from the sale. When selling a home without a realtor, it’s important to be aware of the various tasks involved in putting your house on the market and handling all aspects of the sale process.
This includes taking care of marketing, pricing your home competitively, negotiating with buyers, fielding offers, managing paperwork, and closing the transaction. It also requires staying informed about local housing trends and laws that may affect FSBO sales. Being prepared is key to having a successful FSBO experience in Wisconsin’s current housing market.
Selling To An Investor
The current housing market in Wisconsin is very competitive, with buyers and investors alike eager to take advantage of the low interest rates and favorable conditions.
Selling to an investor can be a great option for homeowners who might not be able to find a buyer or need to sell quickly. Investors are usually looking for properties that they can buy at a reduced rate and then fix up and resell for profit. This means that sellers may have to make certain concessions when dealing with investors, but it also opens up opportunities for serious profits.
Sellers should take into account the fact that investors will likely look for any problems with the home that could affect its value, so making sure all repairs are made before listing the property is essential. It’s also important to be realistic about the price; if an investor offers too low of a price, then it might be better to wait and see if someone else makes an offer.
On the other hand, if the offer is reasonable, then it may be worth taking it rather than waiting around for something better. Ultimately, selling to an investor can give owners peace of mind knowing their property is sold quickly while still earning them a decent return on their investment.
Finding Honest Investors
The current housing market in Wisconsin is an excellent opportunity for investors, particularly those looking for honest and reliable partners. With the right research and knowledge of local market trends, investors can take advantage of the state’s diverse real estate landscape to find ideal investment opportunities.
When it comes to finding honest investors, it pays to do your homework. Look for people who have experience in the industry, good references from past deals, and a solid track record of success.
Ask questions about their process, what kind of properties they specialize in, and how well they know the local market. It’s also important to read reviews online and get advice from other professionals before signing any contracts or making any commitments.
Taking the time to do your due diligence will ensure that you make wise decisions when it comes to investing in Wisconsin’s housing market.
Wisconsin Investors Specialize In Helping Homeowners In Difficult Situations
Wisconsin is currently in a hot housing market, with home values climbing higher and higher. For many people, this is great news, as their homes are now worth more than they ever have been.
But for some homeowners, it can be a difficult situation. If they need to move quickly or are underwater on their mortgage, the traditional real estate market can be hard to navigate.
Fortunately, there are Wisconsin investors who specialize in helping homeowners in these situations. They understand the complexities of the current housing market and can offer solutions that provide homeowners with the best possible outcome.
These investors may purchase a home quickly for cash or provide assistance with refinancing or other resources that will help them stay in their home. With an experienced investor by their side, homeowners can take control of their situation and get back on track financially.
FORECLOSURE
The housing market in Wisconsin has been affected by the current economic climate, leading to an increase in foreclosures. The number of homes entering foreclosure in Wisconsin has grown significantly over the past year, with more than double the amount of homes being foreclosed upon compared to the same period last year. This is largely due to the fact that many homeowners have experienced financial hardship brought on by job losses and other economic pressures. Unfortunately, this trend shows no signs of abating anytime soon. Many homeowners are still struggling to make ends meet and cannot keep up with their mortgage payments, leading to more foreclosures. The problem is compounded by rising interest rates and other factors that make it harder for people to get out from under their existing debt obligations. As a result, more homeowners are finding themselves facing foreclosure proceedings. It’s clear that this crisis calls for immediate action from both local and state governments as well as non-profit organizations and other stakeholders in order to help those affected by foreclosures find solutions that allow them to stay in their homes. By providing support services such as mortgage assistance programs or loan modifications, these individuals can be given a chance to keep their homes while also keeping up with their payments. Such initiatives will hopefully help stabilize the housing market in Wisconsin and prevent further foreclosures from occurring.
BURNED OUT LANDLORD
The housing market in Wisconsin has been busy for landlords, with demand for rental properties being high. As a result, many landlords are feeling the strain of their responsibilities; from the need to maintain and repair their properties to dealing with tenants who may not always be reliable when it comes to rent payments. Unfortunately, this can take its toll on landlords and can lead to them becoming burned out. Burned out landlords may find themselves struggling to address tenant complaints or keeping up with maintenance issues in a timely manner. They may also become less communicative with their tenants, potentially leading to misunderstandings or disputes about rent payments or other matters. It is important for landlords to recognize when they are feeling burned out so that they can take steps to get back on track and ensure that their rental properties remain in good condition and that positive relationships with their tenants are maintained.
PROBATE
Wisconsin’s housing market has seen significant changes in recent years. Probate is an important factor in the state’s current housing market landscape. It is the process through which a deceased person’s estate is distributed according to their will, or if no will exists, then according to the laws of intestacy. This process can be used to transfer ownership of real estate and other property from the deceased person to their beneficiaries. Probate also involves the appointment of a personal representative (or executor) who is responsible for ensuring that all assets are accounted for and distributed correctly. Probate can be a lengthy process, but it is an important part of making sure that a deceased person’s wishes are followed and that their property passes on to those whom they intended. In some cases, avoiding probate may be possible with proper planning and use of certain legal documents, such as trusts or transfer-on-death designations. Ultimately, probate ensures that a deceased person’s assets are not left in limbo and instead pass on to their intended beneficiaries with minimal disruption.
NEED REPAIRS / UPGRADES
The Wisconsin housing market is showing an overall increase in new home starts and existing home sales, however, there are still many homes that need repair. From a financial standpoint, it can be difficult to determine whether investing in repairs makes sense for the current owner or if they should consider selling and moving to a different location. Homeowners considering making repairs should carefully consider the costs associated with the project and how much value the repairs will add to their property. Additionally, they should also take into account any tax credits or other incentives that may be available for certain projects. With careful consideration of all potential factors, homeowners can make an informed decision about whether to invest in necessary repairs or move on to a different property.
You’re One Step Away From Selling That House & Moving On With Life
It’s time to make that big move. You’ve been waiting for the perfect moment, and now it’s here. Selling your house in Wisconsin’s current housing market can be a daunting process, but with the right advice and planning, you’re one step away from making your dream come true.
From understanding the current market trends to selecting the right real estate agent, there are many steps you need to take before selling your house.
Researching local median home prices will help you get an idea of what your house should be priced at, and a professional home inspection is recommended so any potential issues are addressed ahead of time.
Additionally, having an experienced real estate agent on your side ensures that all of the details regarding paperwork and closing costs are taken care of.
You may have already gone through this process once or twice before, but taking these extra steps will ensure that everything goes smoothly this time around. With enough preparation and dedication, you’ll be well on your way to saying goodbye to Wisconsin and starting a new chapter in life!

Challenger's path drabble word count: 1166
“So this thing is like a maze, right?” Tama looked around at the challenger event that they’d settled on, her spiramon resting on her shoulder. “Are you ready for it, Ryuki? Might be tough, and I’d rather not have to dote on you if you start crying like a baby~”
“Would you be serious for once?” Rolling his eyes, Ryuki let out a sigh. He should’ve known better than to expect Tama could get through this without making some sort of dig at him, but he’d still thought it was possible. His partner just enjoyed teasing him too much to let it go. “We’ve only got two hours, so we’ll need to make it count.”
“Hmpf. You’re no fun sometimes.” She stretched out her arms, letting her spiramon float away from her and returning to Ryuki’s AI-Ball. It was a strange thing that she could be physical in this place, but neither of them were complaining- though in cases like this, it was certainly more convenient for them to work as a team with her in his eye socket. They were more used to that anyways. “Alright, I’m ready to go. How about you?”
“Ready. Let’s get started then.”
As he stepped forward into the maze, his and Tama’s spiramon quickly disappeared as the landscape shifted around them. A booming voice signalled the start of the challenge, and Ryuki took off running.
‘Tama, X-Ray mode.’
“On it.”
Even with the overlay in his vision, it wasn’t helping too much. They at least could better tell where the dead ends were, but that was about it… with a sigh he asked her to turn it off, slowing down slightly to look more closely at the walls surrounding them. There wasn’t much to them either- just blank walls.
“Well, we should keep heading roughly north if we want to reach the center. From there, it’ll be easier to meet up with them if they aren’t there already.”
“I guess that makes sense, huh?” Nodding his head, Ryuki followed Tama’s directions. “Do you… know where we’re going, or something?”
“Well, not exactly. But I can tell which way is north, and calculate out a most likely ‘center’ based on where we entered from.” She’d projected her hologram into his vision, strolling along beside him as they explored the maze. “So you’d better thank me, considering I’m doing all the hard work here!”
“Thank you, oh lady Tama.” He offered a mock bow, enough to hide the wry grin on his face. “It’s weird though… I feel like things are looking… different?”
“Huh… you’re right, actually.”
The hallways had slowly changed altogether, now resembling something like rough concrete, rather than the smooth walls there’d been before. The floor under his feet had become a bit bumpier as well, but that wasn’t the most interesting part. The walls seemed more decorated now, bits and pieces of rough drawings reminding him of days gone by at home.
“What’s this supposed to mean…?”
He shook his head, continuing to walk forward. There wasn’t too much point in dwelling on anything right now- it would only distract him, when they were here for a reason. He wanted to complete this task, and they didn’t have that much time.
“Oh Ryuki, that one looks extra familiar!” Tama’s hologram pointed to a drawing that looked a lot like Boss’s office, Ryuki and Date each holding a cup of coffee. A small smile made its way onto Ryuki’s face at the memory. “Feeling nostalgic, hmm~”
“Mr. Date always knows what to say. He’d probably know exactly where to go, don’t you think?”
“I think you’re vastly overestimating him, as always.” She giggled, a sly grin on her face. “That old pervert wouldn’t stand a chance.”
Shaking his head, Ryuki continued onwards through the maze. He stopped at a split path, pausing for a moment- then turned a sharp left, a strange feeling in his chest urging him that direction.
“Why are you headed that way, Ryuki?”
“It just… feels like this is the right path.” He knew acting on a gut feeling was hardly reliable in the long term, but it felt like this would take them closer to their spiramon. And Tama wasn’t teasing him about it this time, quiet and thoughtful while he walked onward. “Yeah, I definitely think we’re getting closer.”
“Actually, I think you’re right. It’s hard to tell, but I think I just saw a flash of them in x-ray mode?”
That was enough to motivate Ryuki to start running again, pressing onward through the maze. Tama’s instructions and his gut feelings were in sync, getting them closer and closer to the center, all the while his eyes lingering on the changing shapes of the walls, and the strange drawings along them that kept reminding him of home.
This place was strange, that much was certain. He’d try not to dwell on it too much- not when so many of them seemed to serve as reminders for his own mistakes, happy memories tied up with memories of failure.
“Ryuki, over there! I just got a thermal signature!”
He made a sharp turn at Tama’s insistence, speeding up at the sight of dark fur and a strange jelly tendril. The maze was shifting again, about to pull them further apart once more, and he wasn’t going to let it. He threw himself forward in a dive, rolling to a stop in front of their spiramon- the both of whom immediately tackled him onto his back, cuddling up as close as they could.
“H-Hey, easy there! Easy!”
“Aww, you’re so good with pets, Ryuki!” Tama had returned to her physical form, squatting down beside him. Her own spiramon was still on Ryuki, its jelly tendrils wrapped around his arm in some sort of hug while Yomi had gotten plenty comfortable on his chest. “You look pretty comfortable.”
“Well, I’m not.” He rolled his eyes as a congratulatory sound rang out, signalling the end of the challenge. They’d done better than he’d expected- they hadn’t taken the entire time, at the very least. “Could you help me get up?”
“Okay, okay. Jelli, let him go, alright?”
Her spiramon floated over to her shoulder, and gave Ryuki a proper chance to push Yomi to the side. Back on his feet, he stretched out his arms.
“That was a good warmup. I feel like I could go a little longer, honestly.”
“Then find something else to do, you adrenaline junkie.” She snickered, flicking his forehead. “Honestly, I wouldn’t put it past you to throw yourself into that hole.”
“Well, actually…”
“Oh. My. God. And you call yourself responsible? You’ve got no impulse control without me!” She was fully laughing now, almost doubled over on herself. “But that’s why I’m here- to keep you out of trouble!”
“Yeah, yeah… are you sure you don’t cause more trouble?”
“Nope. You should show me more respect.”
He just groaned, but it wasn’t enough to hide the smile from his face.
