so you see why i, as an aromantic person, am alienated frequently from the ace community for a variety of reasons: from the not entirely unpopular sex negativity that really makes ace people no better allies than allo people on certain fronts, to the centering of asexuality and lack of recognition for (and sometimes even erasure of) aromanticism in wider aspec discussions, to just. so many other little aggravations that add up over time

and i hate talking about this because when it comes down to non-aspec people clowning on the aspec community then i will stand by and defend aces, and i dont want to add fuel to the fire by publicly complaining about the ace community. but i am also so sick of having to tiptoe around this and then anytime other aro people finally speak up and complain about it you get aces crying and wailing and claiming acephobia or that aros are “splitting the aspec community”

meanwhile when non-aspec people start clowning on aros specifically, instead of aces, it just sucks so bad when aces don’t defend us back, and sometimes even join in on it. its all around so aggravating and it sucks!

and yes, all of this applies to aroaces too, unless youre one of the few who are aroace but prioritize your aromanticism (which may or may not be me, since my sexuality is just one big question mark), in which case you likely have experienced all this yourself as well despite also being ace (as i did!, back when i still identified as ace - and in fact, experiencing this was a major step towards me no longer IDing as ace)

thisll all just be off the top of my head but I hope itll help anyway :)

from reading ggy and analyzing the shit out of dr rabbits behavior and doing the same with Gregorys SB personality along with ruin, there are immediately 2 key differences

dr rabbit is a character that puts on a front and a show for everything. hes portrayed as a genius who never does something without it being calculated and valuable for whatever hes trying to achieve

in GGYs case, one of Rabs goals was for some reason to play a part so tony and ellis would like him by playing into each of their interests. this was probably to appear more inconspicuous and seem less guilty since no teacher would pick out a kid from their class as someone to be worried about if he has good grades and has friends and seems plenty happy

he would joke around with ellis and play games with him and hang out with him, and with tony, he would say a couple deep sounding sentences to play into Tony's interest in the meanings of life and its mysteries and stuff. he did it just enough to the point where tony would notice it and prefer him over Ellis because of it but he also wouldnt pay him any mind when he wasn't actively doing that stuff

so basically rab always acts knowing exactly what he wants to come out of every interaction and it usually works. most of his personality is fronts he puts on for whatever goal hes trying to achieve

but with Gregory, none of his personality shown in sb/ruin is meant to put any sort of front or mask on. he doesnt even try to put on a brave face most of the time. he usually isn't that scared of things and can push through it, but he also has no problem expressing fear if he actually is scared of something (shown in the lines "its pretty dark in there" and "what was that??" in response to his watch beeping)

a lot of his interactions with people and just his outward personality are really genuine. that doesnt mean hes always nice or kind, but he just does or says what he actually feels. a lot of the time in sb he happens to be in a bad mood (for a. very good reason) and snappish towards anyone interacting with him. none of the 'quips' he says are meant to be funny, it's just him complaining and it happens to sound humorous just because of his personality

so that's immediately one line drawn between the two of them. tldr rab puts on fronts and nothing of what he does is genuine but everything Gregory does is genuine just in the way that it's true to himself his personality and what he is feeling in the moment

another thing is obviously their moral code. i dont rlly wanna focus much on this because its kinda obvious. rab will obviously do whatever it takes to stay in operation and was probably created to keep vanny in check, even if it includes murdering tons of people and glitchtrap abusing vanny through him. but Gregory holds a very specific moral code that I can boil down best to "I wont help anyone who doesnt deserve it, but if they do deserve it I'll truly try my best to save them, even if it means risking my life"

the way that Gregory decides which people are worth saving is pretty basic. people like vanny obviously don't deserve to be saved because shes evil and kills people. but vanessa was forced to be mind controlled by her and puppeted around to do it so Gregory believed she deserved to be saved

and the glamrocks werent because they were killer robots trying to rip him apart for seemingly no reason. gregory had no idea about any viruses or probably that they were sentient until Freddy became sentient but that was already by the end of the game. he decommissioned them with the knowledge that they were trying to hurt him, they're robots and can be fixed, and that they probably will by tomorrow because in a few hours the place will open

rab is also patient 46 so any little quirks in those tapes also apply to him. things like disliking flowers and liking the dark and liking to watch sports are all him, but theres no telling how much he could have picked up from Gregory by being created off of him

as for just like. dialogue things and how they talk, rab is a lot more literal and blunt with the things he talks about. gregory also says what he means and takes it literal, but he talks with "uh... like... I guess.... umm" things like that. rab doesn't stutter and he has a bigger vocabulary, while Gregory calls the security badge stations "badge head things" and stuff he doesnt know what to call "things"

rab is also very good at reading people and obviously a really good liar to the point where he can get anyone to believe what he wants. but Gregory is a very very shit liar LMAO. he literally just said "I'd rather not say" to Freddy about Monty and just told the truth but changed a little with the others

with vanessa and vanny they for sure changed Vanessa's personality in SB compared to the trailers so she turned from afraid and worried to snappish and annoyed. I honestly think that now vanessa is never vanessa at all during SB but shes always vanny, just in and out of costume. this way, Vanessa's like the opposite of vanny with how shes more timid from all the trauma and naturally afraid

so with Gregory and rab it could be the same but with different things. vanessa and Vannys personalities are black and white, but Gregory and rab dont talk or act very differently outwardly so it's more of a mental change

I've analyzed the crapp out of these 2 so I hope this helped a little bit =)

In a cramped, filthy apartment, surrounded by food scraps of various types, a woman dressed in all gray and with visible bags under her eyes sat hunched over a half-broken ThinkPad. As she observed the green-tinted imageboard that was currently displayed on the screen and mulled over its contents, a cheeto-covered hand shot down onto the keyboard - its left counterpart busy shoveling more cheese puffs down the woman's throat. At the top of the website, a large banner image decorated with various pyramids and eyes read,

“/OC/ - OCCULT & ARCANE”

With a swift move of her free hand she moved the mouse cursor to a small rectangle labelled “REPLY”. She clicked on it, and a large text box appeared on the screen. Moments later, she began writing. 

"Look, personally, this is all very interesting, but I think you're putting too much emphasis on the contents of the dreams, rather than WHEN they're happening. The Age of Aquarius is coming soon, which means what you're hearing is obviously some higher form of Enochian, and at BEST it's probably demons."

Another argument saved, she thought to herself as she scrolled up to the top of the thread and started rereading what had started off the whole discussion. 

TITLE: NIGHTMARES?

DESCRIPTION:

“hello /OC/ !! ever since i was a teen ive been having weird dreams almost every night. ive never really thought about them deeply but maybe one of you /oc/cultists could help me figure out whats going on, so here goes nothing. theyre varied and have shifted over the years but theres some common elements i can guess will always come up when i fall asleep. the most notable though is the language. its not really a language, but really a feeling? but ive always thought about it as one. i see visions of random things, and i associate it with a thing, and sometimes hear a sound or feel an emotion, but its all so random i can never make sense of it.

i see a mountain and i hear what sounds like a clock ticking. then im struck with a feeling of euphoria and i see the mountain melting into a valley. i see an apple. then two, then four, then six and eight and twenty, and with each new one im struck with a feeling of absolute dread. i see the planet, and i see a very large worm crawling out of it while a pop song is playing. melancholy. i dont know what it means, but it clearly means something, and ive spent the last couple years trying it out but im not getting anywhere on my own. please help me.”

Nothing she hadn’t seen before, though the thought of there being a pattern in what at first seemed like just random noise intrigued her more than she perhaps at first would have liked to admit. Scrolling down to the bottom again, she passed by several more snippets of dreams that the author had posted in response to people asking for more details.

A house burning in reverse, wind chimes, deep insatiable lust. smell of blood. then the entire thing plays in reverse again.

A woman she didn't recognize that gradually morphed into a lawn chair, combined with a chemical smell.

Screaming for several straight seconds until she woke up in a cold sweat, with no other associated imagery.

Naturally, the thread was filled with hundreds of other people speculating about what it could possibly mean and arguing with each other, the cheeto-covered woman only being one of them - not even being the first to suggest that it might be the language of the angels. One particularly persistent user kept spamming links to their self-published e-book about "Dream Linguistics: The Hidden Language of the Unconscious Mind." Another claimed they'd had the exact same dreams in 1987 and that they predicted the stock market crash that year.

"Classic hypnagogic hallucinations combined with sleep paralysis. Take some magnesium and try sleeping on your right side."

"The worm is obviously Ouroboros imagery, but inverted. Have you been experimenting with any chaos magick recently? IMPORTANT."

"Sounds like standard astral projection gone wrong. I can help but you'll need to wire me 500 crowns first for the proper materials."

"Anyone who says this isn't related to the planetary alignments is a fed or a fool. Look up the Ophiuchus Protocol."

The person at the computer finished scrolling down to the bottom, and hit refresh. The page took a bit to reload, but when it finished, there was a new reply.

“hey everyone, OP here. I really appreciate all the help, and youve all been really wonderful, but im gonna stop replying now. its late, and i need to get to sleep. im still not really sure what all the dreams are but i do feel somewhat closer to an answer. good night !!”

Over so soon after I found it, the woman thought to herself. 

Disappointing.

Upon having read it over a few times, she closed her laptop with a sigh, and laid down on it with her arms folded. Without the light of the laptop screen the room was pitch black - no lights were on, nothing shining in from the open windows subtly guiding the cool night air into the 11th floor apartment. If they were on, perhaps you'd be able to see the absolute mess on the floor. The scattered clothes, the filthy, days-old dishes stacked on the floor after they stopped fitting on the desk, the even older takeout containers and miscellaneous beer bottles. The occasional discarded cigarette pack, some visibly crushed. 

Here and there, evidence of her various obsessions littered the floor - tarot cards scattered like fallen leaves, crystals gathering dust in the corners, half-burned candles dripped onto printouts of ancient symbols. A dream journal lay open on the coffee table, its pages covered in cramped handwriting that grew increasingly erratic towards the margins. Books on symbolism and mythology formed precarious towers against the walls, their spines cracked from repeated consultation.

In the entrance hallway, having been covered by the same jacket for several weeks, there laid an unopened letter.

A personalized hell, of sorts. 

As if straining against the dark itself, Beatrice raised herself up slowly and stretched for a few seconds, before letting her arms fall down again. She stared dead-eyed into the wall that had previously been blocked by her laptop screen, and then got up. Carefully, as to not step on anything that'd puncture her feet or make her slip, she walked through the apartment and out the open door onto her balcony - if it could even be called that. In truth, it was far too small, and only had barely enough space for someone to stand on. Her bare feet hit the outside exposed concrete, and she rested her arms on the metal of the outcropping, taking in the city outside.

It was beautiful, and so, so very large. Saint Vincent was one of the largest cities on the Magellanic east coast, and the cultural and economic capital of the Federation of Victoria, only surpassed by true giants such as Goldbridge and Sun City. Beatrice's apartment building, situated at the top of the large hill the city was built on, had a perfect view of its enormous, sprawling mass - The May Bridge on the far side, going into Greater Toone, and before that, all the various city districts;

There was Bayside right near the bridge, with its tall, imposing financial skyscrapers and the mayoral tower somehow towering above all of them, in turn bordered by The Lows and Little Vincent - the “rich kid’s club” - districts characterized by their large hotels, casinos and multi million-crown expensive mega-mansions that faced the bay. Go back in the direction you came from and you'd eventually reach Huttons, the former cultural and artistic center of the city, but whose prices were now rising to the point that it was becoming almost impossible for any actual artists to live there, although it still had some of the best bars in the city. In recent years there'd been sporadic attempts to de-gentrify it, but naturally all of those had failed at the hands of the very wealthy investors in the district who didn't want “criminals” to move in. 

Bordering Huttons was Bayside again, Central, characterized mostly by being home to the city's train hub and university - named, predictably enough, Vincent university - and the Lower Hills, where Beatrice currently resided. Beyond even here there was the Upper Hills, Teodora and the industrial district - colloquially called the smogs - and eventually Outer Vincent with its large, sprawling suburbia.

But really, who cares about a bunch of faceless smoke stacks and single family homes, Beatrice thought to herself. 

A cigarette was lit, the flame of her cheap lighter briefly illuminating her sunken face in the darkness. For a couple minutes, she stayed like that, silent, observing. It was a beautiful star-lit night, occasionally interrupted by something new from below - a cough, a shout, a police siren. More distant bangs than was perhaps usual. The kids playing down on the street below, their giggles and laughter softly echoing up to her.

A car whizzed by, its bright lights cutting through the night like knives through butter. 

The city breathed around her, alive with all its secret rhythms and hidden patterns, indifferent to her presence on the edge of it all. 

Eventually, with a sigh, Beatrice threw the cigarette over the edge and walked back into her pitch-black apartment, the door closing behind her with a soft thud. She stood there for a long moment, the door hard against her back, when suddenly, something echoed out and disturbed the dark stillness of the apartment. A pling, just once. Then again - pling.  It took her a moment to figure out what it was, and then, it hit.

My phone? Is someone trying to contact me? Fuck off… when was the last time I heard that sound? I should set it on do not disturb when I can…

Lumbering slowly, she made her way through the apartment, into the bedroom where her phone was sitting on a bedside table. Picking it up and holding it in her hand her first thought went to spam, and a soft irritation started growing inside her - then, however, she properly read the messages, and that irritation rapidly shifted into something resembling curiosity. 

“BEATRICE SCHWARZ: YOU have been graciously selected for an invitation to a ONCE IN AN AEON OPPORTUNITY. At VICTORIA MEMORIAL PARK, on the TWENTY-SECOND of NOVEMBER in the year 235, at 23:00, the GREAT SERENISSIMA will give YOU AN EXPERIENCE YOU CAN NEVER FORGET. (entrance fee: 50 crowns.)”

What is this, a circus or something?, Beatrice thought incredulously. She looked at the time. 

22:27.

Shit. 

Panicking, she rushed out into the hallway and put on the dirty, crumpled jacket that laid near the door. Five minutes later, she was down on the street.

As she walked, the city's geography unfolded around her like a well-worn map. She passed by the 24-hour laundromat with its eternal fluorescent glow, through the small park where the local cats held their midnight conferences, across the bridge over the commuter rail tracks that carried thousands of suburban workers into Central each morning. Each landmark, though familiar to her, simultaneously felt oddly strange - like seeing old friends again, an uncomfortable kind of nostalgia. It made her yearn for the comfort of her apartment again, though curiosity overpowered her every step of the way. 

The neon sign of Lucky's Corner Store buzzed and flickered as she walked by, its proprietor visible through the grimy windows, engaged in his nightly ritual of reorganizing the same shelf of canned goods he'd been fussing with for the past decade. She'd bought her first tarot deck there, hidden behind the counter with the cigarettes and lottery tickets. Mr. Lucky – not his real name, she assumed – had given her a knowing look as he rang it up, but never commented on her increasingly esoteric purchases she'd made over the years.

Victoria Memorial Park sat at the intersection of old money and new decay, a remnant of the city's more genteel past now caught in the undertow of urban change. During the day, it maintained a careful veneer of respectability with its manicured lawns and historical plaques. But at night, the old iron gates and overgrown corners revealed its true nature – a place where the city's carefully maintained boundaries began to blur.

As she approached the park's entrance, movement caught her eye – others were converging on the park from different directions. A woman in an expensive business suit, her heels clicking purposefully on the pavement. A teenager with a backpack covered in hand-drawn symbols. An elderly man leaning on a carved wooden cane that looked more ceremonial than practical. None of them acknowledged each other, but all moved with the same deliberate purpose.

The park's central lawn opened up before her, and there, in the soft glow of the antique lampposts, she saw them. Arranged in a perfect circle were perhaps two dozen people, seated on the ground. They were as diverse a group as Saint Vincent could produce – she spotted suits that probably cost more than her monthly rent sitting next to tattered thrift store jackets, gray-haired professors next to teenagers with dyed hair and facial piercings. Some sat straight-backed and alert, while others seemed to slouch with exhaustion or disinterest. All of them, however, faced inward, their attention focused on something in the center of the circle that Bea couldn't quite make out from her current position.

The air felt different here – thicker somehow, charged with an expectation that made the hair on the back of Bea's neck stand up. This wasn't like the amateur séances and half-hearted rituals she'd participated in before. This felt real. She took a step forward, and the circle parted to make room for one more. As she moved to take her place, she caught a glimpse of what lay in the center of the circle, and immediately felt an emotion she felt like hadn’t felt in years - not since she got that letter from her uncle, all those years ago.

I swear I'm like going through withdrawals! Secrets is my worst addiction!! I never liked Sasuke but you changed my mind on that and i never thought anyone could! I realize now he really was messed up back then, and after everything he went through at that age, and with Orochimaru's curse mark adding to his darkness, of course he went off the deep end!! I'm ashamed I wasn't more compassionate towards him. He lost his whole family, at the hands of his brother, saw his parents bodies and was shown the murder over and over again by his brother, wtf would anyone expect him to do??? He was like 5 or 6 or something right?? Just a baby! He needs to atone, yes but, hating him? Can't do it anymore, makes no sense.

A Cure For Love has become an obsession!!!! I DONT LIKE M/M FANFICTION ESPECUALLY NARUSASU BUT I CANT PUT THIS STORY DOWN!!!! Omg, how the hell did you get me into this???! It should be illegal to be this creative and good at writing! Who said you could write like this???! I actually like SasuNaru now 😭 and Hinata as a badass witch! She bodied a werewolf, vampire and fury all at the same time, omfg she's so awesome!! I cannot wait for the trio between the three of them!! How will those three come together? Sasuke and Hinata are connected through Sasuke's bite now, but what about Naruto? How will he find himself wrapped up in the witch he despises! I need to know!!!! Thats another thing you got me into! Throuples!!! I can totally see NaruHinaSasu as a loving trio, and I love that you don't want make them like obsessed over Hinata only, or have one person left out of the relationship, you adore NaruHina but you also care about SasuHina and NaruSasu. The love will be spread equal and I sooooo love that! I see it already in your Sims 4 posts!! They all love each other, no one is left out, and everyone loves the children no matter who the father is!

I LOVE Butterfly like you have no idea 😭I know people are not liking Naruto's actions right now, neither do I, but i like that you've wrote him being able to do something like that to precious Hina, your not going soft route and making him too nice or too accomadating, it really feels like he doesn't know her at all, which he doesnt! it's easy to hurt and use people you don't know and he's a prime example of that. He's not out to be malicious, but he's careless with her feelings because he doesn't KNOW her at all. People seem to shy away from making a character that flawed but you lean into and I love it! Naruto is setting himselg up for a WORLD of hurt, I can see it already! Knowing you dont' do sad endings, I can safely enjoy this angst and heartache!!

Monster is my heart!!!!! The Boruto series should have gone this route because the plot for the Otsutsuki is out of this world!! It adds so much tension and suspense, and the lovey dovey moments with NaruHina are like a drug I can't stop doing! I'm scared now though! Ino got those worm root things poured into her mouth by Shino and things are getting really weird and I know you warned us that angst is coming (again I'm gonna enjoy it since you don't do sad endings) but now I'm petrified because Hinata has been acting weird all the way up to this point, and I think whatever was done to her by Toneri is about to come fruition! I'm scared for her and for Naruto! That book is an amazing balance of horror, smut, love and angst!!

I'm DYING for more Prey 😭 I love me a dark fic and Naruto is stone cold crazy af and I love ittttttt! I want to see the meeting between him and the woman he's been stalking, his future baby mama, Hinata! How will she deal with his brand of crazy??? Who is Danzo and why is Naruto working with him??? How did Naruto become a killer like that????! I mean I know he was crazy as a teen and he's killed before but now its like his job??! How, what happened?? I needs to know!! And poor Sasuke 😭😭😭😭😭Naruto is a HANDFUL for him to have to deal with all the time!!

My break is just about over, sorry about the long wait! My stories have been calling me, especially my throuples thanks to my Sims 4 game 🤭I'm even more convinced now that a NaruHinaSasu dynamic is a special, beautiful dynamic and I cannot wait to finish my other throuple fics as well as add more. I'm very happy you enjoy all my stories to such an extent 😭I work pretty hard on them and am glad that I can create stories that can push a person from their comfort zone and still have them content in a new, unexplored territory! A Cure For Love was my first attempt at M/M action and people seem to enjoy it, shockingly, quite a few people that don't like M/M either but love the story regardless are REALLY into this story😵‍💫 and that still blows my mind! It's nice to see more people coming on board the MMF ship! 🤭It's really diverse in here. There's SasuNaru fans willing to give those two with Hinata a try, there's SasuHina fans willing to make room for Naruto, there's NaruHina fans willing to open their hearts to Sasuke, I love the vibe of that story so much. The community is so nice and amazing!

I'm glad I could change your perspective on Sasuke, he really gets way too much hate and not enough understanding/compassion in my opinion. I've gone through deaths of loved ones before, and that shit eats you up inside, it's like a lifetime disease that chips away at you non-stop, I could not imagine going through it to his extent, I'd lose my damn mind too. Idc what no one says, I love Sasuke and my heart goes out to him 100% and I don't say that lightly. I adore Naruto, and Sasuke shouldn't have put him through what he did, but I also am of the mind of Naruto. Sasuke needed help. He was self destructive and losing himself, and I'm glad Naruto could see that and help him. I wish I had a Naruto, I swear.

I love flawed characters like Naruto in Butterfly. You're right that there's gonna be some heavy angst, but as I said, I don't do sad ends, but I do want to hurt your heart 😇enjoy the pain, you've got three books of it coming up.

Don't even get me started on everything wrong with Boruto 🤦🏾‍♀️such lazy writing imo. It's like they skimmed through Naruto and Shippuden rather than watched it fully. That series is not canon to me, never will be. Monster is my horror baby, and you're right, it's about to get wayyyyy worse. Prepare yourself is all i can say.

To answer your question: the answer is a bit animal related, a bit of a rule of cool as fuck and a dash of the good old projection!!!

I have a LOT of eye issues that have required a ton of surgeries and dumb stuff and overall i just have a very shitty vision by my eyes being weird and unfixable, and then i also need glasses in the normal people astigmatism way so its a double hit! I wanted to give that to Owynn too in some capacity, and we played around a lil with how to do it.

First of all I'd like to present you with this, arthropods in our au all have really very noticeable eyes, we made it sort of an unspoken social rule for them to have to cover them since they look sorta freaky, which ties back to both cami and Loon having hair over their eyes!

Here I humbly present three of my creatures (vincent cami and loon) ((vincent is owynns brother)) who are not owynn just to set a reference to what arthropod eyes are normally like; as you can see they either got the full complete eye of a solid color (any eye color that you can normally get or just straight up black/white) and cami who is an interesting outlier I will explain in a bit! In general a lot of insects have this fun thing called "compound eyes", scorpions, which arent insects but arachnids, have "simple eyes" which insects also have but as extra help instead of their straight up eye. Since i don't want to doom every single scorpion person in this world to have the worlds worst sight I opted to also gave them the principle of compound eyes, and we represent the simple eyes other insects have with little spots on the skin, thats what the thing on camis forehead is :3 (i promise this is kinda important)

Cami does have compound eyes like all arthropods, but you might say "dawg i see her pupils right there" and thats where you are wrong! Mantis have this cool thing where they always look like their "pupils" are following you but its just an illussion. So she's kind of a nightmare without her hair covering her eyes because woups it just looks like shes permanently looking at you. Forever. thats awesome. Social rule of covering ur eyes with hair makes a little more sense now

So where does owynn fit on all of this, well, when i asked myself "how do i give someone with a billion of eyes an inherent eye problem that isn't fixable solely with glasses" i came up with: His eyes are shrinking

He still has heterochromia in the normal way, and his eyes shrinking is due to light sensitivity, the blue side is way more pigmented than the green one like its shown in that little grayscale thing, and because of that the green eye is MUCH more light sensitive and therefore way smaller, his glasses help him a lil with the whole light issue, but as a kid he just didn't wear them at all, which is why it got worse and worse and worse to where he is now, most people also assume he has ONE weird eye instead of two, because like I mentioned, arthropod eyes can be normal eye colors, OR straight up black/white. So since his green eye is so bright it blends a lot with the white part of his eye and people just think his eye is a flat white color and that the blue one is the weird part, once you get close to him you can actually realize how he has a way bigger issue on his green eye ^^

So he has normal eye problems that can be fixed with a prescription, and inherent eye problems that glasses can't fix! that being his green eye having seeing almost nothing, and losing a bit of range of sight on his blue one. the problem is mostly the green one ngl

took thorn and rowsdower to the vet today for checkups and it was such a relief to hear the vet say they seem to be in good shape. they are both getting gabapentin for arthritis in their back legs. they haven't gained any weight since last year. hopefully with the pain meds we can get them moving around again and a little slimmer.

aside from that i feel like shit. im really upset with wor. i have two 9 hour+ shifts this week, one of which is a closing shift. and we've started closing the lobby at 10 every night because there might be one single customer between 10-11 so it's pointless to pay someone to keep it open. Except apparently no one is allowed to leave the store at 10 pm. We have to stay until closing which can be between 11:20 to 11:40 depending on how busy it is. But there's not enough work for an extra person!! It's fucking boring as shit! Last night I wanted to cry because I was so tired and there was nothing to do. One of my other coworkers was literally hanging out in the bathroom sitting on the sink. I should have followed her example. There's two bathrooms.

we were down a person last week because they hired an alcoholic crackhead and he had to go to rehab. rehab at the same place that two other employees are from, one of whom went on the run from the law a few weeks ago and the other who is very nice and I'm glad he's around and getting sober. (i dont actually know if that one guy is a crackhead but he really sucks at his job and is really annoying but that might just be adhd. if he comes back in a month i hope he is a better employee).

there are two new employees starting this week, one of whom is also from the same rehab place. i appreciate that they're willing to hire these people but also they might just be desperate for employees since they treat us like shit and none of us stay.

but i like my coworkers overall and considering i left my last job because the people i worked with were so awful, i'm going to try to stick around as long as i can. my goal is to eventually quit and make money through commissions or whatever, but it's hard to work towards that when between work and melon bread, I am too tired to draw. it's making me quite depressed.

melon bread has another appointment next week and we gotta get her checked for worms again and hopefully she will be cleared and can finally have a real meeting with rowsdower and thorn.

anyway. i only work 4 days a week but if have to spend my 3 days off in bed recovering from work then what is the point. i might as well just work 7 days a week.

Closed space, like small rooms and corridors? Kaladin is absolutely cooked. Bro only knows how to wield larger weapons with proficiency (I remember him mentioning he could throw knives but fuck i cant verify that so) so hes just. Served up on a platter.

In more open spaces, it depends even more. If they were hosting this in Luthadel, with taller buildings and all that metal on the buildings and Vin knows the landscape? Even with infinite stormlight, i dont know if Kaladin could win. Probably not! Vin likes utilizing the shadows and her environment for battle, and a place where theres both (assuming this is night because gosh that opens another can of worms) Kal’s probably a bit cooked!

If they hosted this in Rosher? Lets say, at Urithiru’s Oathgate platform? Honestly i would say Kaladin could mid difficulty. Lets not forget this fucker can FLY like full on fly. Roshar is so Stone Vin wouldnt have much to pull on etc etc and the open space gives Kaladin the chance to use his favorite little (big) spear.

So, lets say, for sake of argument, they are in a room the size of a football field, with the ceiling extending up,,, 50 feet. Plenty of room, dimly lit, and all the walls are a pullable metal. That’s where they fight. Vin has daggers and a Koloss sword (because i feel bad she only has daggers, though i fear that Koloss sword will Not Last Long) and Kaladin has Syl.

This would be, as I’d imagine it, an even toss up of who wins. Remember they dont know eachother, the specific mechanics of their powers, their inner thoughts and personal demons etc etc. Vin coild very easily reach up to him with the room being metal, but she doesnt have nearly as much control over her version of flying as he does (its been a hot minute since ive read mistborn, im definitely getting shit wrong ok) and Kaladin’s also Fucking Excellent at flying, so if she tried air combat she’d get cooked i think. Kaladin would probably be willing to give up flying upwards If Vin suggested it because he would feel bad (he doesnt like putting normal soldiers against Fused, he wouldnt wanna fight someone who doesnt fly while flying) (assuming this isnt like a they have a vendetta and are out for blood scenario) but i dont think Vin Would ask because Why Would She.

And, not to be biased, but i still think this battle would go Kaladin’s way. Vin?? Doesn’t have much real battle training. Bringing this up again because its VERY important. The only people she’s fought are people that had the exact same powers as her (she understands them and knows their limitations etc) were completely untrained (Koloss) or didn’t even really have noteworthy powers. Every other time shes fought someone outside of those criteria (which is not alot i fear) she got Packed Up really quickly. And let me add this.

Vin did not live in a time of war!! That is important. There was war after the Lord Ruler died, but 90% of the people who were adults during mistborn were not trained to the extent a full on soldier would be! Those other Mistborn? Trained for espionage and in the realm of battle only see it when facing other Mistborn, which, if i recall, they dont?? Kill eachother (i dont remember) all those guards she killed? Trained as guards, and also almost always taken by surprise. Trying to keep this short and failing but all in all, none of the people Vin fought have been trained for battle the way Kaladin has- and Alethi are like The Guys of War. Hes trained in (if i recall, this is just all the stuff hes like,,,, shown proficiency in in reference to his time in the army) hand to hand combat, grappling/wrestling, one on one battles, formations, general battle strategy, etc. And Vin has minimal training from like various thugs and Kelsier, who focused less on her battle knowledge and more on her role as Valette and her allomancy .

She is a great warrior in her world, where no one was really raised to be warriors, and where she had the Strongest Powers Around (even in terms of Mistborns)

Kaladin is known as a great warrior in his world, where many people are trained to kill and many of the Windrunners have reached his same ideal, and yet he’s still distinctive from them.

Basically, it’s really hard to take characters, even from the same universe, out of their context and try to pit them together. It creates a million and one “what ifs” that make no clear totally correct. They have different powers, power mechanisms, skill sets, world building, etc. i think realistically they would never fight and Kaladin would immediately adopt her as a little sister (Vin is 5’?? Kaladin is like?? 6’10 in earth measurements?? Holy shit??) and would never hurt her, but thats Just Me.

Again, it does depend. Stormlight is an all encompassing fuel, where all of his powers are fueled by one thing. Vin has all those other metals she has to take for different things

Obviously in no stormlight no metals hand-to-hand, or even spear vs dagger, Kaladin wins. I dont think i need to explain this.

If they both had infinite stormlight and infinite metal, with Vin having access to ALL metals, including god metals, i still do think Kaladin would win. Despite Atrium existing, even though could see what he was about to do, he can heal any attack she makes— and i dont think she would have the knowledge to strike him in the spine specifically. I think at some point she would be trapped in a blow she cannot deflect and it would go downhill from there, seeing as she cannot heal wounds.

Russian Caravan, a multicrossover involving elements of Elden Ring, Sekiro, MGS, and Cultist Simulator, in which Taylor meets rather interesting people (OCs) and accidentally delves directly into dealing with cults and eldritch fuckery, for in this version of Earth Bet the shards are by far not the only forces in play. recommend reading to chapter 15 before dropping if uninterested, or skimming the first bits if you're not too hooked, since it takes a while to kick off.

literally anything by Ridtom; he specializes in fics starring victoria dallon and a bunch of them are very fun crossovers, putting her as a Baratheon in Westeros, or being just. dropped into Skyrim, like via the opening cinematic. he's great

have heard lots of good things about Back and Forth, following an OC Mover that joins the ENE Wards around canon start. haven't read it yet tho, too much stuff on my plate.

if you've heard of Denial, Tilt is a different sort of take on unpowered taylor in the wards: she got there on purpose, and is fully aware she's lying to everyone. same disclaimer as last one

Rank isn't set in BB, nor does it have Taylor, but it's one of the single best wormfics i've ever read; the characters are amazing, the plotlines engaging, every call-forwards (since it's set in 2004 to start) is hype as fuck, and it's just... really great. a companion piece to canon Worm, honestly.

City of Salt is a series of small little fic-arcs set in order each after another, in an AU where Behemoth hit BB instead of Leviathan. The first arc was Sophia kicking Elite ass, and I think right now we're having fun with Butcher!Vista. This fic gets amazing fucking art due to the author having a russian pal he can bully for said art, and has a fun spinoff set in Anchorage, Alaska that follows a bunch of Taylor-clones from Echidna. Very awesome.

Redoubt is similar to Back and Forth, except where the OC there is a Mover and the fic is just getting started, the OC here is a shielding Tinker and the fic is nearly completed. Has some really great prose, and the personality of the MC is very entertaining, as long as she vibes well to ya. very very fun and well written

I've been unable to stop thinking about this line ever since I first saw it, like... maybe this is a localization and im reading too much into it, but to me it instantly raised a billion red flags because it follows with a trend sasara's been displaying since forever

like... I genuinely think Sasara is one of the most chaotic neutral people in hypmic and i dont mean that as in haha funnyman be wild, i mean that as in I don't think he has a moral compass AT ALL.

Like, I think currently, all the divisions could be considered anti-chuoku; if not in action (eg jakurai having his hands tied and now working with them, WHICH IS ITS OWN CAN OF WORMS THAT CANT END WELL), then at least in spirit. If tomorrow you asked all the division leaders whether they wanted to press a magic button to bring chuoku down, they would probably all do so! Because they're tyrants exploiting the divisions to keep the masses distracted, and by now they have directly and personally hurt all of them in one way or another. Chuoku's system keeps the divisions as cogs in the eternal machine to make sure nothing will be made substantially better if it's not convenient to Chuoku, it's all just empty theater keeping them spinning endlessly in the circus wheel.

...the issue is... when I say "all leaders", really I mean all except Sasara. Sasara would probably just lean back and go okay, and why should I?

Because Sasara really seems to have absolutely no qualms with how good or evil Chuoku may or may not be, how the society they create and keep in place may be better or worse with or without their presence- he just cares about how things affect him and his goals. The DRBs are empty and meant to keep the divisions from rising up and overthrowing them? Yeah, so what? He couldn't care less about whether he's navigating a world that's 100% authentic and meaningful, or totally artificial and meaningless; if he can easily navigate it and get to the top, then it's cool in his book.

Sasara keeps openly and gladly allowing people to use him as a tool in their plans- so long as it aligns with his own goals. I mean, that's literally how Rei keeps getting him to do exactly what he wants with no resistance: every single time, Rei presents Sasara with a situation made ENTIRELY out of red flags, but every time, Sasara goes "well I can get something out of it and I'm smart enough that I won't get taken advantage of without me knowing, so why not"

Which is bizarre for someone whose entire Thing spirals out of trust issues?? You would think he wouldn't like being manipulated. But I think the thing is, as long as Sasara FEELS like he has control over what's happening, he doesn't give half a shit if the situation itself has been very blatantly engineered for someone's benefit.

And that's what scares me: Sasara is the one leader who is 100% totally fine with Chuoku's regime on every level. If Chuoku want to use his team as puppets for some nefarious reason, then, like, whatever? As long as he and Rosho get to win the DRB together, who cares about who benefits from their win.

Between him and Rei, Dotsuitare Hompo have the potential to be the villains of this DRB, maybe moreso than Fling Posse ever were when they were directly sponsored and ordered by Chuoku, and even more than Matenro probably will be even now that Jakurai is officially working with them, because at least Jakurai has massive moral quandaries with the whole thing.

But Sasara is chaotic neutral to the extent I'd be willing to believe that, if Chuoku play their cards right, he would he happily willing to sabotage any uprising among the divisions.

"The revolution will not be televised" is a phrase because true revolutionary activity goes against the interests of those in power, and they will try to supress it or at least control the narrative to paint it as a negative. And I don't think Sasara has any interest in biting the hand that feeds him... no matter how much blood that hand is stained with.

Ok another post because i cant stop and literally had this exact same conversation with my friend yesterday and its extremely applicable to what i saw on youtube and to an extent on reddit. And maybe this is a hot take but im going to say it anyway maybe please dont leave hate on this

But. I'm having a very hard time seperating the characters in critical role and the people in critical role. And I think this is just a by product of the kind of media it is because its immersive but also not.

And I was saying how I have to make a very conscious effort to seperate the two in my head and not conflate them. And even then I really don't think I do a good job about it, especially about characters I've latched onto like Caleb. I also think these days its very difficult to interact with a piece of media and not consider who those involved are as people for better or worse.

It's impossible for me to interact with critical role without also interacting with the people running it and the characters. It gets all jumbled for me. I still find myself googling personal questions about the actors even though I know im not entitled to that information nor should I be speculating on it.

All that being said, I don't think a lot of people think about this? Or even know to think about it? I think it's a very unconscious reaction and the format of critical role and similar shows is primed to make it difficult to do. You see someone on the screen and your brain identifies that person as the character. There's just a collapsing of separation that isn't there in more "traditional" pieces of media.

Then there is the whole parasocial relationship aspect of it too, which is also something I am hyper aware of and also really bad at. This is also at the forefront of my mind since I saw Ethan's (crankgameplays) show like two weeks ago. But it's hard to remind myself that I don't know these people and shouldn't be making assumptions about them. And it really bothers me when people make assumptions about, for example, Marisha and Liam are the ones I've seen the most, because of something they are doing in character or media they are producing because people do that about me and i cant stand it. Just because you see their media, just because they choose to share something with you, doesnt mean you know them or are entitled to more information. And like dont make assumptions about people from what art they put out. This really gets to me from my own experience. But often times people would like at my writing and then put that weight back onto me when i was specifically writing it to get the distance. Idk where im going with this.

And i dont have good answers or solutions to these problems and its constantly something im aware of when im consuming (i hate that word) media, especially on youtube. But critical role has opened up this can of worms for me in ways i didnt expect. And im not calling anyone out over anything. These are just the thoughts swirling in my head about the way i interact with media, especially critical role. Anyway so heres all my baggage.

politics dont work on dsmp like you think they do: a badly written analysis

ok ive been seeing posts about techno being ancap because he teamed with quackity and purpled so I thought Id write something out to get my thoughts out there. (not only those, those are just the ones that felt like a punch to the gut) nobodys gonna see this but none of my friends are into this fandom (understandably) that i can talk to so here we go!!!

warning, this is p long!! there are 3 sections:

Anarchy v. democracy (differences to real life)

tubbo v. schlatt: minecraft governments

specific types of posts that we hate to see/dont make sense

Anarchy v. democracy (differences to irl)

So the fact that there are differences from minecraft rp to irl is pretty obvious, but i still see people talking like its not so heres some points. I see a lot of people defend c!tubbo and lmanburg for making a government, but I dont think they see the imact of government (even democracy) on the dsmp because it works for countries irl. so here you go: theres like 20 active members on dsmp. only half are in lmanburg.

why does this matter? because (as techno has mentioned in a couple of streams) thats a very small amount of people. lmanburg as a country could operate as an equal nation, as they could all fit at one table to talk. literally. Imagine someone in your household or in your friendgroup declaring themselves president and then actually having the power to make laws and exile people. weird right? It doesnt matter if the friend is well-liked or elected, they still have the power to control everyone else with no repercussions. Technoblade and Philzas perspective is this: nobody here should be given the power, because it always changes them and turns sour fast. they advocate for anarchy, which sounds crazy and violent, but what they really want is the friend group to be back on equal terms.

compare this to united states politics and then you open up a completely different can of worms. Those who argue for a system to hold people accountable and to make a system for orderly mass change are still justified. principles of anarchy built for large nations are still valid, but MUCH easier to achieve on a small minecraft server

tubbo v. schlatt: minecraft governments

SO. lets talk about tubbos rule. he seems to have good intentions at first, and is definitely not as bad as schlatt, but things start to go badly as he realizes he can get away with more and more. say we give him a by for exiling tommy because he was manipulated. (even though a government allows those systems to happen IN THE FIRST PLACE).

Technos execution is the first glaring red flag of his presidency. you could say that he was doing it as revege for?? two withers?? but then quackitys speech and the existence of a hit list immediately counter that. IF the execution was for JUSTICE they would have let him have a TRIAL. thats why its called the JUSTICE system. They have a pre-built courthouse and everything!! Another example of tubbos presidency souring is the destruction of phils house. they kept a man who constantly moves around in house arrest for the crime of?? being friends with someone?? as well as break his windows and loot his chests, the very same thing he condemned tommy and ranboo for. (ranboo is not innocent either btw, i have a whole nother rant about why i lowkey cant stand ranboos character, but thats for later.)

Not to mention pressuring ranboo to hurt people he didnt have qualms with, continuing to force a no-armor rule despite residents having reason to be wary, and selectively choosing who to be in his "cabinet", pushing people like Niki, who have been there since the beginning, to the side for QUACKITY of all people who has a very scuffed moral compass.

What did schlatt do again? he raised taxes, especially for niki (one of the only things he is very much at fault for), broke trees and buildings, enforced borders, killed tubbo, and exiled two of his competitors. Personally, I'd say tubbo and schlatt are equally bad here, schlatt just seems worse because he made his intentions known.

specific types of posts that we hate to see

we as in me. i hate to see em. Political compasses??? ew. bad. dsmp has only 20 people and no economy. (quackity wants to make one to gain power, purpled made a unsucessful real estate buisness for laughs early on.) People associating the syndicate/anarhcy with violence and chaos?? NO. BAD. they just want the friend group to be equal again. they just want a system where they cant be betrayed, ignored, and stepped on for no reason.

-extra snowchester point because this gets on my nerves. the syndicate was not expecting tubbo to be there. they did not go in any buildings without permission. they were very upfront about their goals and suspicions. not once was violence threatened, even after learning about nukes. also do not try me with "but techno has withers!!" EVERYONE can get withers. withers are a nuisance but destroy land maybe 4-5 blocks deep.

TUBBO and MANY OTHER SERVER MEMBERS have stolen and walked on technos land and he did nothing. He SAW tubbo, knew about connor, etc. and he did nothing. If youre upset about techno stepping foot on tubbos land, be upset at tubbo for doing the same to techno first.

conclusion

anarchy in a server is just "hey can we not?? dictate the lives of out friends??" and governments of ANY KIND have hurt people on all occasions. this is not the same irl. please know the difference.

Thank you for reading my posts<3. I know I've been slow lately, but I'm not in a right emotional place right now, but I'll be back to posting soon. Actually talking abt furuba & story-telling here in tumblr is such a peaceful outlet that I'm thankful for.

While I love 97% of furuba characters, my faves kept changing while I watched the anime. I decided to have 5 top characters as faves & number one kept changing as the anime progressed.

Since I'm all abt story-telling, I think I need to separate the anime from the manga cuz no way in the anime that tohru would be on my top 5, heck not even top 10! I really don't like how her character was reduced to yuki's mommy-tohru, then angel-tohru, then villain-fixer tohru. The real individual tohru with her own personal story is just two eps long, so meh~. Also, while yuki is in my top 5 in the anime, I don't like how he's too perfect & prince in the anime while his own theme is the imperfect non-prince. Kyo's, too in my top 5 but I dont like how his own story is intentionally messed up by the anime with the stupid "I forgot" that contradicts the anime's own canon plot...

So, I'll tell you my top 5 fave character in the manga so fat with no particular order.

Tohru, while I'm yet to uncover her own plot in the manga, so far she has way more character exploration & depth!! She really feels like a different character from the anime! I'm shocked! The facial expressions, the occasional doubtful self-talk, even the "fake-smile"mask she puts is so expressive. She is treated as a character with a personal plot , regardless of being the protagonist. Her own plot is not reliant on being yuki's mommy, or the sohma's shrink, or a fixer. Her own plot line is abt grief & being lonely. It's the most common struggle that we all share regardless of our gender, race, financial status. Death is the ultimate fact & we'll face loosing a loved one & feeling lonely is not related to social skills nor being loved. I'll forever hate the anime for passing on such unique universal theme in favor of emphasizing the most popular shonen-themed coming of age story ( a boy becoming a man) "yuki" or the over-exaggerated drama in "kyo's". Like I dont want them to pass any of the 3 characters plotlines, but the anime made a choice & forever cemented anime tohru as the most "fixer"character in anime history like 98765678 of other female protagonists.

Yuki has way more character & realness in the manga. He doesnt come off as narrator-y as he does in the anime simply cuz the anime only chose the parts where yuki narrates as a voice-over & told us how to feel & dropped all the parts where he's interacting & actually talking to other characters not just the audience. His own personal story is abt "observing, learning & having the guts to make a move & embracing his own imperfection". I love this! Anime yuki is not imperfect. no. he's the icon of perfect prince, he even initiates a set of fanclub girls into the world that they float! He's so perfect, he "heals" a girl simply by talking to her once. That's all it takes him to fall in love & find his soulmate. While in the manga, I'm starting to see yuki display signs of "kind jerk" in the making, that's refreshing!

I admit that I didn't include kyo into my top 5 until se02. Don't get me wrong, he's so endearing since ep1, but didnt seem to be complex nor refreshing as the others. but se02, ep 9 was the first glimpse into his own character depth & I got hooked! I'm so in love with the theme of "repeated mistakes & guilt". it's such a mature theme & speaks to a much wider audience. The more we repeat the same mistakes, the more we self-sabotage our lives. Also, I love the love isn't a magic healing element in his story. He's the most loved character by tohru, yet her love only hurt him more due to his guilt. Moreover, the romantic element itself wasnt a cliche "love at 1st sight, nor lovers since childhood, nor girl fixes a guy, nor guy protects the girl from danger". Not at all. It was "love blooming subtly, little by little by mundane daily life". I cant express how much I applaud Takaya-san for such complex writing. In the anime, kyo only comes when it's his ep, other than that, he's absent or characterless. I hated that. So far in the manga, kyo has an existence even in other plotlines & has different aspects of his character. Also, I'm shocked at how much inner dialogue he has! like no too much that it involves other character nor too little that you dont understand him. It's just the right amount.

Momiji. He's the most balanced character. He isnt fixed by tohru, but isnt perfectly fine either. He's the definition of the right amount of kindness. He doesn sell himself to make other happy like tohru or kureno, nor puts himself in danger to save others like haru. He does help others but also helps himself. He helped his mom forget him cuz honestly that wasnt even his choice. it's the dad's. He participated willingly tho in avoiding her, but he didnt dwell in self pity & locked himself emotionally. He let go of loving tohru & encouraged kyo, but while he genuinely loved kyo, he didnt just back off cuz he's kind & a sacrificial angel. He stood like a man & challenged kyo for tohru's heart, but let go when he realized the choice is tohru's. not them. They can love her aromatically, but she's the one who decides who to be with. I love the theme of "not competing for love". it's not a competition really. never was. Still, as love sick & heart-broken as he was, momiji didnt dwell in self-pity & after allowing himself to heal, he bounced back & smiled. Momiji is no foolish traveler.

The spot is reserved to a certain character that I want the manga to prove their worth. I dont want them to be as shallow as the anime made them to be. I want to see depth. I dont know if the manga writes them better, but once I finish the manga, I'll know.

I wanted to add shigure but no. Despite all the complexity & the unique roles he has & despite how much I love characters with big giant flaws & ugly characteristics, shigre fell from my top 5 long ago. Look, this seems petty but I can't get over the fact that he slept with akito's mom. ewwwww. It makes me wanna puke! so disgusting. yuck yuck yuck! I dont mind that he "cheated"or wanted to "hurt akito by sleeping with ANOTHER woman". As a matter of fact, such acts create drama, ugly feelings & emotional struggle. I love such things in fiction. but he did it with the mother. He actually laid with both mom & daughter in his life. ewwwwww! This level of eww is so revolting to me! Some ppl are disgusted by bugs & worms that they want to puke, me.. when ppl sleep with both parent/off spring, or both siblings. Yuck! & it's even more yuck that it didnt stop their "love" from being real/ happy/ perfect/ passionate! & that it worked in making akito "want him more & be a "woman" for him"... ew!
