So danny was visiting jazz's new phyciatritrist business in gothem

From the sounds of it, its going great!!!

Most of the local rouges have been coming in , and from jazz's talks their getting better, she even said she'd introduce him to someone called mr.freeze who has ice powers and is a doctor danny wonders if he could help him with research, but there are 2 problems

Some furries keep trying to hack into her system, break into the building and attempting to get her to break doctors patient confidentiality, though tucker, reinforced walls from their parents and the anti-creep stick dealt with that problem

Though the option of sending danny after them is always on the table

Thats not the main problem though

No the problem is someone called the joker

Apparently he got word of a good phyciatritrist helping the rouges and according to jazz "tried to make them go back to his level" Apparently its a phyciatritrist term for when someone feels like others are getting better and they arent so they want to bring them back down so they dont have to change.

Anyway jazz is refusing to see him for a lot of reasons, the negativity and the refusal to get help being the main 2

So jazz called danny up to see if he could get this joker to leave her alone

Are Merch Mimics capable of using assimilation offensively against humans, for self-defense and otherwise? Like, if someone tried to break a toy/game/etc they were inhabiting, could the Mimic instead pull them in?

To a degree, yeah. I should mention though that Victor isn't "in" the TV in any magical sense; spoiler alert: he's the controller Vance is holding! Hence, the eye on the controller reacting to the dialogue. The Victor on the screen is actualy a model he rigged for a homebrew game he coded the old fashioned way, which responds to whatever inputs the controller sends to the Wii.

He actually is an active member of the homebrew community, and loves to mess with electronics the old fashioned way. Almost no one on the forums knows he's a toy bird, but are impressed nonetheless with his little projects, various rail-shooter games, and weird obsession with snarky anthropomorphic birds.

Victor could technically "jump into a game" on a tv screen, but it'd be a bit of a weird process if he doesn't know how to mod the game, so it'd look more like a shitty greenscreen effect rather than anything coherent. He'd need to learn in real time how the game is coded, how to inject arbitrary code into the system while it's running, etc etc. He CAN do that because he's a fucking NERD, but it wouldn't be a quick process at all.

I should also mention, mimics have an inherent ability to create dreams, since they come about from processing the thoughts and ideas of humans. If a human bonds with a mimic, such that the mimic now knows how the human thinks, they can pull a (somewhat) willing human into the dream when the human sleeps. So to wrap this all up: what Victor could do for a game he understands inside and out is pull a human into a dream that happens to match whatever he himself experiences as currently going on in the game. Basically the ultimate VR experience, with the mimic as a middle-man. Which might be something that'll happen in the comic soon....!

So that all seems a bit convoluted, right? Here's even more worldbuilding about matter assimilation by mimics below the cut. Stop here if you don't want a headache.

The reason so many hoops would be needed to pull a human into a game world is that assimilation is much easier on inert, inanimate objects that are not currently "in use" by a thinking thing, or something that relies on constant electrical signals to function. This can be something with brainwaves, or some other kind of animation like a normal robot. A mimic can convert a CRT TV that's turned off somewhat easily, but a TV that's turned on, with particles of every kind constantly moving into and out of it, is much harder to convert.

This means that humans and biological creatures in general are also trickier to convert, though it can still happen if done gradually enough. Hence, Victor wouldn't be able to rapidly convert Vance in one fell swoop, it'd be a whole process. It's easier to just pull a human into a dream instead, and if a mimic understands a video game, or a story in a book really well, they can basically make the fictional world into an extremely lucid reality for whatever human tags along with them.

I often describe mimics as just "jojo stands if they were corporeal and could just get up and move around on their own with no user"; you know how in jojo stand battles or old stories about magic curses, if you break the curse or kill the stand before its effect becomes permanent, all of the damage is magically undone? Like if you kill Green Day, the mold stand, all of the molding just instantly stops?

Mimics who use their powers of assimilation offensively work similarly; they can project their influence to a certain range, and partially assimilate matter in that range. If you knock out or kill the mimic, however, everything reverts to normal. A human who doesn't want to get converted can basically just turn around and walk away most of the time, or shoot the mimic, so the mimic in question needs to pull off some trick to get the human to stay within range for the assimilation to fully stick. A human can still break free and get out of range even if fully converted, but it's much harder, as assimilation usually means the mimic gaining greater control over the converted object in question. The exact range and effect mimics have is again like jojo stand ranges; it varies.

Different mimics have different affinities for different things. Victor can assimilate cheap electronics fastest because he likes them and understands how they work (it's why he's a toy bird mp3 player). Az can assimilate guns, and turn ammo into weird anomalous ammo with weird effects. Zachary is a genius who can assimilate any matter, including biological matter, faster than anyone... but he's also extremely picky and hates the sight of blood, so he only uses assimilation on things he really, really likes.

If I could somehow make another read more at this point, I would. It's gonna get messy:

What a weird power and setup though, right? Why? The true nature of mimics is unknown to most of them, but the deepest lore is that the first mimics were constructs made by a people long ago, who first made them as highly advanced machines that'd recognize the thoughts of their masters to fulfill any practical desire. Need a road built? Done. Need a ship repaired? Done. With physical needs all met, the people began to turn inward, and use the mimics to illustrate their own artistic ideas. Eventually, the will and consciousness of these people were assimilated and inherited by mimics, who themselves became people. Mimics spread, altered themselves, duplicated, deviated, fused, split, and wandered around. Getting into recreational wars, manifesting horrors and delights into reality because they could.

Somehow, after the dust settled, the strongest mimics, the angels, decide to set their sights to the stars, and observe other lifeforms develop technology and their own art. Did mimics come to earth millions of years ago, and simply watched humans grow, evolving with them in-tandem? Or did humans make the first mimics, and somehow became undone and set back to the stone age? The answer to this mystery is currently known only to the oldest of mimics. Except Zachary. He's old, but didn't care to remember.

This is generally why mimics seem so compatible with humans; they were made by either them, or people who were, for whatever the reason, very much like them, flaws and all. The ability to assimilate is basically the conversion of matter into a more malleable state of information. A virtually magical power, but this was achieved not through prayers and spells, but a very human-like obsession with developing technology to the point of exerting control over molecules, then atoms, then the lowest planks of matter. The obsession with scaling every mountain and crossing through every valley. To rip the natural world apart, and hopefully, put it back together before it's too late. Angels seek to ensure humanity walks the right path there, but with human's own desires and intent honored, for better or worse.

To answer your question: yes. A mimic of Mario can pull you into the game and you can jump with him and eat shitty low poly spaghetti with him.

The process for doing that is just convoluted and complicated, and you need to get to know each other a bit first. If he tries to use it as an attack though, it either won't work, or it might just wind up giving you mild brain damage.

The smart and probably the most mentally stable one out of the bunch (more on that later-) being the oldest isn't really easy when you've got 7 younger friends most of which love to go on rowdy fun adventures, nonetheless he is always with them every step of the way whenever he can! (Mostly because he needs to keep them from accidentally getting themselves killed 💀)

His Talent

Bubba is capable of creating balls of light and is able to change the intesity of light sources around him, in combat he can create lightbulb shaped items and throw them at to flashbang opponents, disorienting them and giving him the advantage, though this uses up his own energy and so he needs to think carefully about how many he creates, or else he will likely pass out.

KickinChicken!

The self-proclaimed cool guy of the critters. An daredevil who's always put looking for ways to have a lil fun, all the while making Bubba slowly lose his patience 😅 even though he may come off as an arrogant jerk to others, Kickin actually cares a lot about his friends and others more than he likes to admit! Just don't get on his nerves or he will make your life a living hell whenever given the chance!

His Talent

He can whip out three items of his choosing, whether it'd be a simple screwdriver or a flat out atomic bomb, all of which seem to follow a common theme 💀 though he is only lmited to three wishes and after using them all up he'd have to wait for an one hour cooldown before he can create more items again.

CatNap!

Not a very talkative critter, neither is he really stable in ANY WAY to begin with, he went suddenly missing once for 3 whole weeks and came back never the same, for 9 whole months has he never ate, drank or even slept, and it's only a matter of time before one day he finally collapses in on himself...

His...Talent???...

He is able create sleep-inducing red smoke, making whoever is nearby inhale it and fall into a Deep Sleep... (it doesn't kill them dn)

DogDay!

The leader of The Smiling Critters! And CatNap's best friend! This lovely sunshine is always ready for an adventure and bring a smile to everyone's faces no matter who they are! He is always standing up for what's right, willing to put his friends before himself.

His Talent?

His body glows a range of red to yellow whenever experiencing intense emotions, the hue and the temperature of his body depending on how intense the feeling is, if it is too intense his body is capable of burning the skin off of anybody who attempts to touch him.

PickyPiggy!

The nature-loving and diet obsessed one of the group, she absolutely loves the wonders of mother nature, even owning an vegetable garden herself! She loves to eat but always makes sure she stays healthy when doing so! Though sometimes she is so entranced by eating food that she often forgets to keep up with the others and finds herself confused, she always feels like she has an reputation to uphold considering her father is a well-known cook in Critterville, to make things even less easy she has 12 younger brothers to take care of!

Her Talent

She is able to take and storage items within an infinite pocket dimension like a personal inventory in her pockets, though she needs to have actualy pockets for this to work, luckily she knows how to sew!

Hoppy Hopscotch!

The physically active one of the group! And DogDay's beloved little sister! This rambunctious lil rabbit is willing to take on a challenge if it means having fun! Though she is really accident prone so she often gets herself hurt! (Pretty frequently actually-) but even so she doesn't know how to back down! While impatient and loud, she is happy to protect her friends from danger!

CraftyCorn!

The shy and soft-spoken one! She's pretty timid but has an incredible creative side to her! She loves to create all kinds of art but most specifically loves to draw! Even though she may not have had the best first start of her life, but after moving into Bubba's home and becoming part of The Smiling Critters, she realizes she feels right at home.

Her Talent

She is able to mend and shape paint however and whatever she wants it to be! Whether it is colorful wings of freedom or another way to paint, she needs to have paint at her disposal though.

She is also capable of magic of her own! But due to her previous living conditions she was never able to tap into her gift and discover the wonders of unicorn magic all that much, though luckily Bubba has enrolled her to equestrian classes to help her with that problem! <)

Bobby Bearhug!

The sweetest and youngest one out of the group! She was found alone outside near the Critters' treehouse, ever since then Bubba has taken her under his wing and has been taking care of her since, it is unknown what happened to her parents it has been assumed that they had just abandoned her.

Her Talent

She is able to sense the true intentions of a person's heart, helping her know who is worthy of trust or not, she is also able to sense the emotions of an individual though this can be physically and even mentally exhausting, making her needing to take frequent naps to gain her energy back.

post canon comic-like storylines: RPM

OKAY SO THIS. This has been eating away at my brain for almost half a decade but I’m gonna quietly sum it up like a normal person.

Title: Ranger Black

Synopsis: A chance encounter with a relic of the past sends Dr. K and Dillon spiralling into a search for their pasts in parallel paths that seems to be drawing closer and closer…

Plot Summary: it basically starts off with the world healing after the apocalypse. Maybe one, maybe two years later. Dr. K and Ziggy are still running that school, and Dillon, Summer and Tenaya are still globe trotting. They pay visits to their friends still living in Corinth every now and then, and cue *fluffy moments*

But Dillon is haunted. Tenaya doesn’t think much about this, but Dillon is absolutely obsessed with their past. He still has no recollection of memories, nothing except a few vivid flashbacks, and ever since Dillon’s brain was wiped off the venjix virus, the flashbacks have increased in number, yet offer no significant information.

Now what happens is that while they’re all chilling in the garage— Ziggy is cooking something for all of them— Dr. K gets an email that her request for an abandoned schoolhouse to be renovated for the purpose of her and Ziggy’s school has been accepted. Super excited, the entire crew (minus Gem, Gemma, Scott and Flynn) decide to check out the site, because it’s legally allotted to them now.

In that old and abandoned schoolhouse, though, they find something that connects both Dillon and Dr. K. Old school photographs. They’re a few years apart, but this is clearly from before dr. K was taken in alphabet soup.

What this results in, is, Dr. K and Dillon separately searching for their pasts. Going through abandoned buildings, talking to people. Dr. K is trying to find out what the alphabet soup actualy did— with her, with the other kids, WHY they did that, all the things she had never been curious about because of her trauma. And meanwhile, Dillon is trying to find out who he and his sister were, before the Venjix takeover happened.

Why was it that he was the only sleeper cell activated as a Ranger operator, while his sister was the only humanoid who was taken as a minion for venjix. Why just them…

Meanwhile, Dr. K’s digging research on Alphabet Soup yields something else entirely. They didn’t just take little geniuses like her and Gem and Gemma— they also abducted/bought children/adults off and experimented ON the ones they didn’t deem “smart enough.”

And there’s something.. that starts putting problems in their investigations… which eventually spawns into the final battle of the comic because it’s still power rangers. But yes. The final conclusion is that: 1) Dillon and Tenaya were still killing machines and experimented on mutts BEFORE the venjix takeover, with the ideal forms for being both, ranger operators, and venjix’s #1 humanoid minion. This is why none of the other sleeper cells ever made it past the first level of the toughness test.

There has been a darker conspiracy going on under the skin, this whole time~

There’s also another idea I have regarding Scott and the others, but this post is already long enough so, I’ll leave it at that~

I’m imagining that in this universe, the metagame would also include what species you’re playing against (and not just what the ingame race is).  

One of the current champions is all-Vulcan team where they play in a sort of mind-meld state. This limits their ability to control strategy independently, but gives them insane micro in areas where multiple players’ forces are in the same place. This goes for something like Starcraft, but also for FPS games where they could use spotters. However, they’ve started losing regularly to a newer team that includes 2 Romulans. Their meld-state is weaker at DPS, but their tactics are scary-good.

Cardassians would be obsessed with the metagame, and would have massive forum psyops to manipulate it, complete with sock-puppeting, pre-planned streams, the works. All metagame is valuable, especially the fake metagame. Nobody trusts any metagame information coming out of Cardassia. Which is all according to keikaku.

Humans make really good balanced teams. Nobody is quite sure how they do this. But they’re basically consistently average at every level they’re competing at. Which gives them an insane overall win-rate. They also just randomly do shit in games. It pisses off the Cardassians that they basically always fall for the metagame psyops, but it doesn’t matter because what the fuck was that strategy?

There is a massive flamewar going on among the Klingons as to whether RTS or FPS is the true Warrior’s Game.[1]  (Flamewars, in general involve friends, parents, and sometimes entire Houses. People have died over shitposts. The Klingons would have it no other way. Individual Klingons have insane reaction and click rates. There is another Empire-wide flamewar about whether Camping is honorable behavior.)

Worf thinks the true Warrior’s Games are the original Mario games. Of course, he beats 300-400 year-old speedrunning records (100% runs only, of course), and is also Worf, so whatever. Seven of Nine is also an epic-level speedrunner. On the other hand, the majority of the %any records (doesn’t matter what game) were set back in the mid-22nd century by user Tiberius.

Somehow, the most prolific shitposters are the Vulcans and Data. The sheer-unfunnyness of these posts are an achievement in their own right. They tag religiously so they’re easy to filter, but show up quoted elsewhere. User ImADoctor has a theory that everyone is being messed with, but from his memes, he’s like 150 years old or something, and nobody takes him seriously.

Tellarites aren’t a fan of the games themselves, but they are super active on the forums. About 60% of all flamewar-instigators are Tellarites.

“Average sapient starts five flamewars a year” factoid actualy just statistical error. Flamewar Garak, who is responsible for 15% of all flamewars, is an outlier adn should not have been counted.

Please imagine some warrior culture (e.g. Klingons) getting super into video game esports in a relatively war-less setting and just getting insane about it

today I wanna update my latest kpop favourite group, biased, otp, and why I love them. yes them. it's not one but many many people getting around. this list not just boys group but the girls group to. 1. INFINITE I am absolutely loyal (maybe not) INSPIRIT. always make Infinite first than the other group and this your gonna be my 5 year being Inspirit. why? why not? they are amazing 7 man that alive in this world. they can sing verywell (maybe need much slot for Sungyeol), they can dance verywell (hail Hoya and Dongwoo) and they can being nasty together. and I love this year gonna they 7 years together and I hope they can always forever till they can't dance and their voice going crack when singing. My Biased: you can look in my pp actualy. yes, the one and only almighty leader Kim Sunggyu. even many fans outside them not think Sunggyu is handsome, for me he is handsome man alive with single eyelid and tall nose. and his voice... don't ask how many time I cry just hear his voice. for me he is perfect. Biased Wrecker: today no one. this my confession. when I know infinite first, I really like Hoya than Sungjong come alive and getting pretty everyday, but than I know how beautiful uri leader are and then baam I love Sunggyu now. I like DIA, I like gu9udan, I like WSJN, and I like Pristin very much. but looking how different person from different management together so wonderful. I hope their respective group or solo carrier like Chungha, Sohye, and Somi, will great this year. My Biased: Im Nayoung and Yoojung. two different person and two rapper in the group. I cry so much because of them. and who said Nayoung was stone, now she even can aegyo guys. and more cry for Yoodaeng, this girl need to debut ASAP. she is so talented and cute one too. Ok so here's my yapping about this au

In PIDW there was a character that Sy would have been obsess with if he wasn't a sacrifice for the neretive and betrayed binghe with the most one dimensional motive, realy what a waste of a perfectly good character.

The reason why Sy realy liked him is cuz he was the only one of his kind that appeared in the story.

He was a rare spiritual beast that was a mutation that only happens in animals that live close the a lot of spiritual power. A perfectly ordinary animal will give birth to a human hybrid. They are extremely rare and most only know of them in stories. They are said to have special abilities depending on wich animal they r a hybrid off.

The character was an owl hybrid with is the most common one but not cuz they appear so often in nature but rather that cultivators have tried to artificially creat them for their ability; they will never forget. They are immortal and are used as living archives with most having over a 1000 years of history preserved only in their head.

I think now you know why Sy was so pissy about this character being killed of in a very cheap plot twist. This creature which was the archive of demon emperor's for generations and one of the most knowledgeable beings in Existens! Just killed! Like that! WTF Airplane!

Anways for this au one thing that is said about these creatures is what is realy importand! Since they are said to never forget they also don't forget their past life! Some are said to even come form difrent worlds!

So now we have a skrunky little baby bird Sy, future archive of cang qiong sect remembering every emberesing detail of how he died and what he was doing.

The first 5 years he is stuck in the beast peak just focusing on growing up and developing. He meets all the peak lords and is introduced to his future job.

After he is allowed to run freely and is encouraged to do so since he has to recorded all of the sects happenings. But he'll mainly stay at an ding peak but isn't part of any specific peak so the only person he has to actualy listen to is Yue qingyuan.

He finds out very quickly that many perseve him as creepy or unsettling, especially shang qinghua, he always jumpes when he sees shen yuan. He desides He quit likes being scary.

It also helps when he has to observe disciples who are very secretive. In fact a lot of ppl quite like their privacy, to bad shen yuan is tasked with recording ALL of cang qiong's happenings.

Especially shen qingqiu, he at first tried to keep poor binghe a secret, saying that it's non of shen yuan's business what he does to his disciples. To bad for him it actualy his his business!

After having found the protagonist shen yuan tries everything to make his life better! Though the fact that half his brain is a bird's isn't helping him with ideas. His human brain will say "we have to make binghe comfortable!" And his bird brain will be "build him a nest!" Or his human brain is "he is so under feed we need to bring him food!" Brid brain be like "let's catch him a mouse!"

He just can't fight his bird instincts! His main victim is airplain, who just lookes so much like a hamster shen Yuan can't help but snatch him up! Another problem with being half bird is that u don't have hands! Most of the fun things require hands! He some how manages to read using his wrist(?) after giving up on trying with his feet only to shred whatever he was reading. Eating is even worse! You ever tried using chopsticks with out a thumb? Or fingers? And he can't just eat with his mouth! He may be half bird but he's half human too! So all he can do is drink congee or soup and eat his meat where no one can see.

Another fun activity he finds joy in, is playing with the disciples. He always loved kids even in his old life, so now being surrounded by them is quit refreshing to his other wise boring job of listening to old people talk about "importand" things wile making sure he actualy remembers Wat ever they are yapping about. So He defenetly Likes playing with the kids more! He even tries to teach them stuff! It's just a shame that most don't seem to like him... He already tried to appear more friendly, he knows he has a resting bitch face so he always tries to smile at them but it seems to only make it worse!

But they still seem to like playing with him! They always run as soon as they see him! Shen Yuan knows this game it's tag! They always scream with joy when he picks them up too! An ding disciples are so lively! It's just a shame this peak lord is airplain, he doesn't even teach them how to not get attacked from above! He knows they will mostly be doing paperwork but their self-defense is very importand! Especially with how easy shen yuan always catches them! No matter he can just teach them himself.
