Favorite plant? or like maybe top 5?

It seems like a copout answer to just say all of them so I'll give you five in no specific order (below the cut)

Colobanthus quitensis, also known as Antarctic pearlwort. It's one of two known flowering antarctic plants (the other being Antarctic hair grass), it was discovered in the late 1700's-early 1800's. Since Antartica is a dessert it's native plants have a special kind of leaf structure to account for the lack of rainfall.

Cornus florida, or the flowering dogwood. It's native to North America and Mexico, the trees are monoecious meaning that it has both male and female flowers. It also serves as a place for more then 12 species of moths to lay their larvae in.

Phlox subulata, or moss phlox. It's an pink, purple, blue, or white evergreen native to the united states that commonly covers ground in wooded areas. It also serves as a pollinator and can be used to prevent erosion.

Pinus strobus, or the eastern white pine tree. These trees have been known to live for over 400 years and are largely considered the tallest trees in eastern North America. They also serve as habitats for other plants along with animals and insects.

Opuntia, also known as the prickly pear cactus. I had to include some sort of cacti in this because they are so vital to the ecosystem and water cycle. The prickly pear cactus in particular are some of the most cold tolerating cacti, and like many other cacti are only native to the Americas.

the funniest meltdown ive ever had was in college when i got so overstimulated that i could Not speak, including over text. one of my friends was trying to talk me through it but i was solely using emojis because they were easier than trying to come up with words so he started using primarily emojis as well just to make things feel balanced. this was not the Most effective strategy... until. he tried to ask me "you okay?" but the way he chose to do that was by sending "👉🏼👌🏼❓" and i was so shocked by suddenly being asked if i was dtf that i was like WHAT???? WHAT DID YOU JUST SAY TO ME?????????? and thus was verbal again

AuDHD is so funny sometimes like what do you mean my hyperfixations/special interests will last for years on end or possibly forever but they will cycle out every month or two with absolutely no transitional period or warning. like i will think about the same topic every day obsessively for 46 days in a row and on the 47th day with no visible cause adhd brain goes "ok! bored of that now" and autism brain goes "dw i got something queued up for ya" and i blast into full blown obsession on some other topic whose mental file folders haven't opened in 9 months. brain's out here treating hyperfixations like a crop rotation. once the dopamine runs out it cycles in another one but once something's in the rotation it never ever leaves. last summer we brought in one from when i was 11. it's so funny to me but frustrating too bc like. i cannot stress enough my inability to predict or control this. or how completely abrupt and random it can be

As much as i love Dungeon Meshi, i do think that given Ryoko Kui's attention to realistic worldbuilding there ought to be a companion series called Dishes Meshi where they spend 2hrs washing and drying and packing away. Alll the goddamnfuck dishes they just made

getting emotional over footage of an amateur scuba diver interacting with a coelacanth. they are hunted by large deepwater predators, and here comes a large creature bearing the brightest lights it's ever seen, making strange noises, but it does not shy away. it hovers, calmly, as the diver reaches out and trails a hand down its back. im strongly against the anthropomorphizing of real life animals but the stupid emotional part of me loudly insists this is because it recognizes us, the alternating movements of its four paired limbs matching the diver's four paired limbs, & it is thinking, "hello, cousins, we missed you these 66 million years, it's so good to see you again. welcome back, welcome home."
