rewatched madoka magica again today bc i fucking hate myself and to absolutely no one’s surprise i went through all five stages of grief in a single evening
#let’s talk about sayaka miki for a second#genuinely the fact that her whole character is centered around tragedy almost to a shakespearean extent#she’s selfless and brave and values her justice and righteousness above all. calls herself an ally of justice#in fact i think it’s rather intriguing how her whole character is centered around “justice”#her story being a more twisted retelling of the original little mermaid#how she is initially portrayed as a very heroic and confident character even before becoming a magical girl. always shielding madoka#selling her soul to heal the boy she loved out of a selfless desire to see him well again#her being absolutely distraught abt being robbed of her humanity and betrayed by kyubey#she combats this harrowing realization by immersing herself in her duties not caring that she is slowly deteriorating in the process#becoming numb with pain and fighting recklessly and psychotically trying to drown out the pain#finally coming to the sickening conclusion that humanity doesn’t deserve her saving and she succumbs to a fate of her making#last words being “i was so stupid” which trumps her previous statement of “there’s no way i’d regret this”#ALSO? the fact that her costume and weapon are symbolic of a knight. she rly portrays this hero of justice who will protect and defend ☹️#i think abt the fact that homura said that sayaka’s wish was so selfless it was only a matter of time before she died#sayaka being the example of what happens to magical girls who go through the entire cycle and eventually become witches is so sad to me#genuinely just like. sick and twisted#very very fucked up.#characters who have their own misconstrued interpretation of “justice” or who are centered around justice in general.#you will always be dear to me.#sayaka reminds me a lot of akechi in some ways ngl#harboring an almost idealized vision of justice but it slowly rots and festers and corrupts their hearts the more immersed w it they become#actually losing their sanity when they fight bc of how much pain they’re in but refuse to acknowledge it until they break#refusing any help and wallowing in misery despite having ppl who love them and want to save them#last words are those expressing regret for being such a fool. for being ignoring#being used by yhe main villain as a stepping stone towards their true goal. they were merely a pawn#also doomed in every version of their reality. always doomed by the narrative no matter what choices they make#i have a type i fear#HAHAHAH ALSO the fact that they’re both dressed so regally compared to everyone else in their respective series#meant to portray them in a virtuous and princely light. only made more apparent by the sword being their weapon of choice#i’m gonna shut up now but they’re soo eerily similar its unnerving tbh 💀

just read (from an extremely unreliable source) that booth had wanted to give his diamond stickpin to one of secretary seward’s maids who he had a thing for. which is extremely unlikely, (the source also suggests that booth might have already given the pin to her, which is why it wasn’t found on his body—a claim that i have a whole host of issues with) BUT. it does make me even more insane to think that booth had wanted to give the pin to a girl he was in love with, but had promised it to david instead.
or that david knew that booth wanted to give the pin to a girl he was in love with, and tried to claim it for himself after booth’s death.
#david#idk if ive ever even talked about the pin on this website#for context in his voluntary statement david is asked about the money that booth carried#and david said that booth had?? a hundred and sixty dollars? (don’t quote me)#which booth said he would split with david in the morning (he never lived that long) but david refused the money#so instead booth offered him a diamond stickpin which david accepted but never got#this is all what david claims btw which could just be a lie and booth never offered him anything#but whether it’s true or not#david wants us to believe that booth had intended to give him his pin#and spent his entire statement claiming that he hadn’t wanted to join booth and felt nothing for him#just to falter on the last page where he brings up the pin in such a way that it feels like he’s requesting for it to be returned to him#he never got it#top two missing historical objects that make me want to throw up#number one is david’s confession

Giving Limbo a blackboard and chalk in an age where everyone uses glass tablets and holograms is so so so endearing to me. Quills and parchment type of guy. He just needs to write an entire blackboard full with one equation as enrichment. I think Ordis can handle the dust just fine as far as filters go but maybe less so in terms of mental fortitude
(Operator becoming the rubber ducky for extremely complicated multidimensional math they don't understand in 3, 2, 1... )
You see, according to my lavos (Higgins), the correct amount of containers into which to put science is "one more." He also has shitall concept of personal space and a tendency to forget that his complicated thought processes are not universal, so now he's banned from mugs. Luckily the mug that North (drifter) had grabbed only had yeast in it that Higgins got from an ostron for science reasons, but it's still not a fun thing to knock back instead of the chimurr you were expecting at like 6 in the morning
so we have previously established that limbo & lavos would be science besties, right
i propose:
limbo has cat energy: acts like he knows everything but is in fact a bit of a dumbass outside his exact field of expertise, will nap in weird places
lavos has dog energy: will lick the science, outdoorsy (science field trips), makes friends easy
#the yeast was gonna be used to develop snacks for the helminth#which in turn probably mostly happened bc higgins wants lanius (nidus prime/infested scientist) to think hes cool#this is entirely pointless bc lanius already thinks hes cool they just also think hes small and full of questionable ideas#which are all true statements#oh dear god my clown car of ocs sorry#kata's chatter#oc: drifter north#oc: higgins#giving limbo a giant blackboard is also a fun concept bc lavos cannot reach the top of it

people who act like heartstopper's existence as a cute, sappy, teenage queer show is actively preventing other types of queer representation from existing in media are the worst
#two things can be true at once “heartstopper is monumental in representing queer people in an accessible way for young people which shows#a largely wholesome story“ and ”we need all sorts of different queer representation“#and guess what? neither of these statements conflicted ever#albatross rambles

everybodys all lets condemn people with Morally Impure Interests until all of a sudden you have an interest that is suddenly considered Impure and wanes in and out of Public Opinion for many years because nobody actually knows how to think for themselves online. personally i think we'd all be very lonely if we chose and broke friendships based on.... What Video Games They Like and like absolutely nothing else regarding the person's character
#like consider the fact that Steven Universe was considered Irredeemable Media 5 or so years ago#which sounds like me just bitching about the fact that ive been getting into pretty NOTABLY muddy media as of late (which is true)#but even when it comes down to it...#you start talking to people in real life and its like hey everyone has a voice and opinions outside of the media they consume#You know#and it doesnt just end there this is rlly why ive looped back to supporting self expression and supporting victims above all else#in supposed “darkfic” “proship” “discourse”#its just kinda like..#well none of these things are cut-and-dry. there is context behind why people do anything that they do#social media exists to curate a limiting digital image of yourself therefore people make judgment calls based on very small parts#of your whole character#and this is why i deleted twitter#because its like an ocd torture simulator#anyways i know im being incredibly vague and i mean OBVIOUSLY there are always outliers ie actual literal propaganda art and all of that#im making a sweeping statement because this type of discourse has become so aimless that words dont even have meaning anymore#like we just need to destroy the whole thing and start over.#anyways i might delete this later its just on my mind#becuase of those maia crimew posts lol

To the anons letting me know I've mistakenly reblogged from some blogs I'd rather not: thank you. Relevant posts have been deleted. I haven't been as thorough as I used to be.
Anyway, hope y'all are doing well!
#op for one of them has a different take that made me miss it#i have no beef with them because of it. but i will still delete just to avoid issue.#they truly believe zim is a kid (which unfortunately for them is not true) and are strict on not being weird abt the kids#which i kinda appreciate.#a lot of my discomfort from the z*dr community comes from being weird about the kids.#op's onlg issue was thinking zim is a kid and therefore thinking z*dr is fine. i don't think they're a bad person...#i used to think that ag one point too.#maybe it's just because im 23 now and not 19. im not as chronically online about all this despite still holding my standards#but im also not arguing with someone again like ''hey zim is an adult. there's evidence and direct non joking statements from JV.''#bc honestly i have better things to do nowdays lol.#im in a very ''avoid what u don't like. keep to yourself. and do not engage'' thing right now#anyway. thank you again anons. appreciate it.#but yeah i just glide through now. i don't check my followers either because whatever you know. if they see opinions they don't like well 🤷#they usually don't engage though so whatever.

"And for me to have known even a single day of love is a gift that I never thought I would be lucky enough to have (...)"
K. P. Hob, played by Brennan Lee Mulligan (Dimension 20 - A Court of Fey and Flowers, Episode 8)
#K P Hob continues to be one of my favorite characters in all of fiction#the contrast between his silliness and genius#his sense of romance#all very relatable#and while ultimately he is proven wrong with this statement#that he is able to know MANY more days of love in his live and not just one#to me the attitude itself still feels true#after all the greatest thing you'll ever learn is just to love and be loved in return#and to have experienced love even temporarily is a very unique and powerful feeling#one that gives hope#hope that Hob doesn't have in that moment but which is given to him again not long after

this is just a random thought ive had in the back of my mind when i first got into yellowjackets so be nice but like. something something jackie & shauna are quinn fabray variants (to ME) and quinn is somehow a combination of jackieshauna's worst individual traits
#shauna shipman#jackie taylor#jackieshauna#this came from the glee yj tweets i looked up for funsies when i was getting into yj and ive chuckled @ the shackie quinn ones#but u know with enough time i started thinking about it way too much#i have lots of Thoughts but my thesis statement is this:#prone to being extremely harsh (on herself & others) which can lead to making the worst life decisions ever [Shauna]#+ “pretty perfect highschool queen” whose really reliant on the (superficial) expectations of everyone/the social order [Jackie]#= quinn fabray#like if u were assigning yj girls to glee chars you can kind of slot jackieshauna in quinn for wildly different reasons#its just really funny. frankly hilarious to me. this is very niche but if it hits an audience then wooo#if j&s watched glee theyre fave character would be quinn for Very different reasons its true they told me#& shauna would be a secret hater about it lowkey because she'd assume jackie doesn't get the parts of Quinn that shauna relates to#while jackie? shes just losing her mind over every s2 faberry moment#comphet lesbian AND pregnant cheater bitch oh quinn fabray what can't you do#but yeah. yeah#if you read all this i appreciate u.#ignore the typos 😒

shittty anime again
Just got done rewatching the l*vi backstory ovas and jesus christ that whole ordeal is such a massive condemnation of the s*rvey corps (<= idk what people be searching) on multiple levels its actually insane. Like. The idea that you could come out of that being like wow what a tragic and harrowing ordeal l*vi is so cool and strong and brave etc and not like WHAT THE FUCK... GET HIM OUT OF HERE!!!! The way erw*n masterminded this whole plot to blackmail him into service and then indirectly got his family killed over LITERALLY NOTHING functionally ruining his whole life and then like. Rubbing in the fact that he has nowhere else to go like his plan was just to secure this talent by any means necessary (WHICH IT PRETTY MUCH WAS?) It is literally horrific 😭 and the fact that it ends with l*vi being like At The End Of The Day No One Ever Knows What Will Happen In A Situation... so I guess I'll follow this guy until I die?
#Recurring theme in this story is the fact that the fantastical extremity of the established enemy fundamentally justifies basically any#military action no matter how stupid bloody pointless traumatizing or excessive. Which might be a captain obvious statement ig#Like..... It's okay that they did all that to l*vi because he's sooooooo strong and they need him to kill the titans ^__^#And the fact that everything literally always DOES work out on some level and bring them closer to the#next piece of the puzzle (because it has to because it is based around solving these mysteries) kind of just. Reinforces that#Side note the fact that the past two ops have significant portions that just straight up sound like national anthems#gives me the heebie jeebies and I assume the same will be true going forward

I think it's amazing how someone can touch another's heart so profoundly without either of them having necessarily known each other or even having directly interacted.
#casper talks#today is Steve Irwin day which is probably all I need to say about that#but this is true as a general statement for literally any human being#it's the genuine love and passion to do good for me-#also stories. stories made and shared are so precious

If you prefer the newer seasons of ninjago over the older seasons (pilot-s5/s7) we are fundamentally different people
#kind of a neutral statement#s8 and s9 get excused to an extend but i will not for forgive them for garma/don#s6 and s7 aren't that amazing to me but they get a pass bc at least they feel like they're about the same characters as the prev seasons#and similair with 8 and 9 except yeah..... this is where it starts......#s11+ means little to me in regards to characters. sure they have some cool stuff and the stories are neat (i love s12 SOO much for example)#but. yeah it's what i call the cardboard treatment because most characters especially when they're not the focus feel like -#- cardboard cutout versions of themselves#guys isn't zane so funny because he's a robot hahaha! what a source of comedy that is so in character! /s#and i'm not gonna say that i hate the new seasons cause that's not true#i bawled my fucking eyes out at s15#but it's. kind of a different show to me and the characters often feel off.#also some recurring things that i'm sooooo annoyed at sigh ugh ugh ugh#also they start this thing around s6 where for some reason the police is involved??#and the explorer's club pls fucking DIE#it's fine if you like the chicken also man but holy crap this is just NOT for me at all#the older seasons were many times more charming and if you disagree then - well we simply have differenzt tastes#which is fine#but my god it's something i do need to point out#i didn't actually mean to ramble so much but yeah.........#one of my favorite examples is the reduction of jay's and zane's characters to goofy guy and robot smart guy#the taking jay's inventing skills is the most insane thing they have done to date and they openly admit this this is literally a thing#they really only cared about tropes and archetypes at this point even though this is simply NOT where ninjago shines#i feel like someone might unfollow mr for this but you literally don't have to#it's all fine! just feel like saying this every now and then because ninjago is one of the shows that have been THE most special in my life#forgot the / for ninja/go oh wel l sorry#the reasons i like this show lie in the early seasons and not the later ones

It is still immensely funny to us that if we cherry-pick the notes of that one "unpopular whump opinion" post hard enough we can say we've never written a whump fic in our life. There's an immense variety of opinions and definitions of "whump" out there, and a great number of opinionated people, and all of this rainbow of thoughts and opinions gives enough variety that if we throw together enough random, contradictory rules, we can just define the genre out of existence entirely. Truly, this is what all genre writers aspire for.
#this would have to be INTENSELY cherrypicked because the definition of whump is different for everyone#but there are just enough no true scotsman arguments in there that its 100% possible to assemble a ruleset where nothing is whump#and its even MORE possible to assemble a set of rules in which whump exists but we've never written a whump fic#the rule “there must be a caretaker or it isn't whump” specifically knocks out like... almost our entire portfolio#eleven out of nineteen lack a caretaker entirely and for three more of them existence of a caretaker is dubious at best#and we can knock out a LOT more with “its not whump if theres no defined whumper”#this is ofc just for fun bc the variety of views of just what whump is is part of what makes the community what it is#but since like half the time what we do when we start doubting if our writing is really... whatever is deconstructing the genre#we sometimes find it fun to take no true scotsman statements and see how many it takes to define ourself out of existence#(usually it takes like three of them to take out all of our works)#we speak#we'll. tag this as whump in like a week when its unlikely to show up in the main tags. our apologies if it shows up anyways

While a lot of knights have multiple names or titles we know of numerous knights that were as far as we can tell ‘Made the fuck up’. Like we know Galahad is made up, he’s a take on the Grail Knight yes, but the Grail first appears in Perceval and Perceval might be made up wholesale by Chrétien de Troyes (in fact while welsh poems reference a similar figure all references we have post date the Troyes story).
I mean Palomedes first appears as the antagonist of a 13th century fanfic about Sir Tristan. Like absolutely these guys have a lot of names? But they also just got made up, because it was fun and cool.
Like there are definitely knights who might be from earlier myths, but also they might just be made up, and there are knights who were certainly made up later on.
You can just make up Knights of the Round Table by the way. People used to do it all the time.
#Also large chunks of what you said were incomprehensible to me.#Like are you saying that the knights were separate mythical and historical figures later unified under the table?#Because yeah that sort of is probably true?#But you started by saying that disagreeing with my statement that people made up knights.#You also seem to be claiming that all the knights came into existence through nicknames and transliteration? Which is untrue?#Galahad has literally no references prior to his introduction in the Lancelot-grail cycle. He doesn’t appear in any other literature.#Unless the argument is that he’s a take on Perceval to which point I’d argue he’s essentially completely unique and separate as a figure?

hbomberguy’s latest video on plagiarism has made me completely rethink literature and writing. I have never once so much as considered intentionally plagiarizing anyone or anything, but I think there’s something more that has come out of this: the names of the people who created the works Somerton (and others) ripped off.
Plagiarism isn’t only bad because it is lazy and disrespectful, it’s bad because it buries the truth. If you can’t find a source, the conversation is over. Somerton’s sources are fairly easy to find by simply searching his plagiarized lines, but that isn’t true in most cases. Most of the time, the line from statement to source is a lot less clear.
Today, I was writing a report on English Ivy, which is an invasive species here in the US. I wanted to know when it was introduced and I at last found a source claiming it was introduced to the Americas “as early as 1727” on a .net website that seems quite reputable (it has multiple major universities credited in its home page), but there is no citation for where this date came from. I dug deeper and found a pamphlet created by a city government in Virginia that made the same claim, only to discover the first source linked in their bibliography. Another website (a botanical garden’s page) gave the same date with the same source hyperlinked. Of course, I have classes to attend and things to do and probably not enough time to follow the lines back to where this 1727 date came from, but if I had not just watched this video, I wouldn’t have given that date a second thought.
Of course, it doesn’t matter in the long run exactly what year hedera helix was introduced to the Americas, but it makes you wonder how many facts have been so vaguely attributed that it becomes completely impossible to figure out where they originated (and further, whether or not they’re true at all).
#hbomberguy#james somerton#plagarism#EDIT: it was introduced to *the americas* NOT the US in (probably) 1727#THANK YOU anon ask person!!!#the US didn’t exist in 1727

to balance the extremely odd energy i just put out here though i really do think. and i maybe think about this a lot but- i really do think. the movie is wrong because carina definitely kissed him first. send post.
#so much of this absolutely has to be. because of the way i filled out the empty parts of his writing i don't know if this would be true of#canon henry but i really do think. when speaking of hannah!henry and rora!carina she absolutely kissed him first ok ty#and not like. i don't say that because i think it's some kind of empowerment statement i just think that like#if there is one (1) place in the whole thing where he is clearly not really sure. what's going on exactly#it's between him and her. and he sets up a lot of the banter moment and definitely makes eyes and has little private moments where#he's just. he's so endeared and a little bit thrown#and he! sets things up. but she's the one that hits it home that commits so it's like#this dialogue where he is. not really asking exactly but creating places where she can go. Yeah Me Too. (?) if that#if that makes sense?? we're. we're wading into unfinished-rewrite territory here but this is actually;;;#my footing here comes from the movie (and the little bit more of it we get in the novelization!) where henry will sort of...#mostly he's just Like This i think but he shares and he offers and *yes* he's bold in that regard#and in the doing-what-he-thinks-he-must regard right but also when it comes to like.... dynamics?#or at least theirs specifically#he will. say something and then look. say something and then wait. set up and let her open up in response or not.#and she usually does! (which. smth smth she's used to no one asking. aaahhhhhh)#but all of that is just. u see how this leads me? to. i think she kissed him first#and i don't think he set it up in the same way as that .. at least half intentional ''i'll go first'' way but just in a#he would have found some way to make it known he likes her and i just think#when the first kiss happens it's because he did something really stupidly endearing and she couldn't bear it and i think#she kissed him first is all#woooo hannah's on her ship bullshit let's goooooo#oh i forgot about the very-run-through-the-airport thought until just now but i'm back on that technically aren't i#i said it there too.#anyway carina! kissed! him! first!!#(he did -however- kiss her back like three times in the next couple seconds)
