#rf kuang#babel#i like this line bc the imagery is just so real#when i had the opportunity to visit oxford briefly i was definitely in awe of how beautiful it is but i was also struck by an unmistakable#sense of ominous grandeur#itโs hard to describe but it was a very creepy and weird feeling#my peers and i were like. hm. not surprised at all that a place like this inspired saltburn#i was there on an education studies trip and we met with an admissions officer who showed us the raft of the medusa when we asked about#whether oxford had plans to make itself more accessible to a wider range of students#so what he was saying was basically#โwell some people have to drown and thatโs not our problemโ#was definitely a very fascinating part of the trip and im grateful we were invited to come and hear their perspective#but Oxford definitely sends a shiver down my spine!#oxford#imagery#lowkey im thinking about how this novel has gothic elements to it especially being set in oxford#very engrossing use of setting for sure
