hi! hope you’re having a good day/night. wondering if you had any tip for achieving phosphorescence/fluorescence with colored pencils? i’ve been getting back into drawing after a long art block and wanted to draw some glow in the dark toys but i’ve been struggling to give a good actual green glow on a dark background. thought i’d ask since you’re incredible with colored pencil!

oh prismacolor neon colored pencils are perfect for this, they only have 3 colors (orange, yellow, and pink) but i think this is the closest thing to what ur describing that ive used in my own art

some of these are more subdued than others, i blend the neon color and a regular color (the neon pencils also have harder lead so are good for blending with) it creates this really nice underglow that i cant achieve with the regular colors. the more subtle ones have less of the neon color blended in and the brighter ones have more. the neon colors are really bright and vibrant it surprised me the first time i used one. my scanner does not pick up neon colors tho (idk if all scanners are like that) so I have to photograph the art instead whenever i use neon colors

im sure other brands have neon colors u can do this with (and other mediums too) this is just what i do

#the neon green in the second to last one is just a regular light blue color mixed with neon yellow #they dont actually have a neon green color #prismacolor electric blue is the closest color they have to a neon blue but its not really neon #mixing neon colors with regular colors is awesome i def reccomend trying it #you can use it in art you wouldnt expect to have neon colors you just blend a little in to give it a slight glow #it doesnt read to your eyes like neon it just has an effect where it looks a bit unreal and dreamy almost #it feels a bit like cheating lmao it can enhance a drawing so much so easily its kinda magic #ive tried it with paint before but it was kinda cheap so wasnt the best result but still cool #ill likely buy some better quality neon paint to try this in paintings more #art help

ok well that one's going straight on the favorites list for sure. absolute masterpiece. one of the most genuinely unsettling horror movies I've ever seen, and I've seen a LOT. It's all the slow descent into madness that the Shining movie wanted to be, the acting never missed a fucking beat (this is the guy's FIRST LEAD ROLE and goddamn did he command every second he was on screen), played super well on the 70s talk show on-air/off-air setting, then throw in some Cronenberg-style practical effects and I could not look away

#late night with the devil #this is one of those where you just know everyone working on the film has just this incredible appreciation for what they do #i mean everything down to the little bit of camera fuzz and the fact that he refers to the lights as par cans. every detail #and i mean it's already super clear that david dastmalchian is a big horror guy but he SHINES in this. really in his element #i mean it's the natural talk show host charisma. the slowly building grief and anxiety as it goes on. and then when it all falls apart #just. goddamn. definitely a new fave. my other favorite horror films are ex machina and the fly for reference #and this is all the unsettling atmosphere of ex machina plus all the grotesque visceral effects of the fly

quite pleasantly surprised by wicked movie but i Will say we were robbed of elphaba leaning in close to glinda saying “come with me to the emerald city” followed by glinda’s “i’ve always wanted to see the emerald city” while looking deep into her eyes arms around her shoulders twirling elphaba’s hair

#not sure if this was unique to the last time i saw wicked but either way. shoutout to those two leads fr 😘✌🏻 <- that’s me kissing #two fingers and holding them out btw #personal #other notes:#- fiyero looked too old sorry but he did perform pretty well #- still unreasonably annoyed by ariana’s eyebrows being so pale and blending into her skin under certain lightings esp when they gave her #giant black lashes like at least be consistent 💀#- otherwise pretty pleasantly surprised by her performance there were still moments esp when she laughed where i was like this is too #‘ariana’ and not ‘glinda’ enough but for the most part she did wayyy better than i had anticipated #- the instrumentation to vocal balancing was weird throughout but i’m not sure if that came down mostly to it being in theatre vs on a home #tv ik it can depend on how they designed it #- was not a fan of nessa or madame morrible the way both of them sang and even how madame morrible spoke sometimes came off very stilted to #me i did like nessa’s spoken delivery tho #- not sure how but i had no clue abt the kristen/idina cameo ahjdf the way my mom #grandma and me all gasped #- cynthia did well i wasn’t concerned abt her initially but then saw the way they were marketing with her and got a little worried bc it #wasn’t very ‘elphaba’ but she portrayed her personality great #- they paced defying gravity weird i wasn’t super fond of the end. the bit where she’s falling and facing her younger self i was like okay #this is a cool change actually but then they interrupted in the middle again after that and suddenly cut to the ‘nobody in all of oz’ bit #and i went mmmm don’t like that #- liked the effects!#- wasn’t overly fond of jeff goldblum as the wizard but i suppose there is time to change my opinion there with act ii #- enjoyed what is this feeling flipping btwn so many settings to show how much they were clashing in every respect #- costumes!!#- was slightly bothered by autotune first half and then im not sure if they cut back on it or if i just got used to it #- probably more stuff that i might add later but can’t think of rn. overall nice experience don’t plan on rewatching anytime soon but still #intend to see part 2 #wicked 2024 spoilers #<- for the cameo mention mainly
