silent hill 2 stans are the main villains of horror gaming discourse for the past 20 years. like no one else has such a myopic view of what that series and narratives in horror should be like!
#everything needs to be monsters explicitly representing inner struggles or BAD#and like ideally they are representative via some kind of manifestation within the text itself not from a layer of analysis#because that somehow devalues it#eg fatal frame 3's tattoo curse as grief is less valuable than sh2's p head as punishment#because textually the tattoo curse is a real standalone thing in universe and not a literal manifestation of grief#whereas phead is explicitly textually a manifestation of his desire of punishment via the town#i hope this is making sense#but anyway downstream from this is the theories for every horror game/film ever when people are like#none of the supernatural stuff in this happened it's all in the protagonist's head#because people can't cope with the separation of text and subtext
