Bills' Josh Allen gives a blunt assessment of his latest playoff loss to Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs
Tumblr media
Josh Allen is in a familiar position, and it's not one he hoped to be in coming into Sunday's AFC Championship. The Buffalo Bills quarterback dropped to 0-4 in his playoff career against Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs as his hopes of reaching the Super Bowl have once again come up just short with a 32-29 defeat at Arrowhead Stadium.

NFL Divisional Round Preview
Tumblr media
Yesss, my precious!!!
We are now in the serious phase of post season football, I managed a healthy 5-1 record picking winners on Wild card Weekend, and while a lot of the games were more lopsided than I thought they'd be, I'm feeling really good about myself.
Okay, here we go.
Tumblr media
Houston Texans vs Kansas City Chiefs
Mahomes vs Stroud part 2 in the playoffs, and if you start by comparing the two quarterbacks, it tells of a decisive edge to the more experienced Mahomes. CJ Stroud trails him in completion percentage, total yards and touchdown-interception ratio, but where Stroud does beat Mahomes is in long plays down the field, CJ has 67 to Mahomes' 54.
The Kansas City Chiefs and the Texans are mirror images of each other right now given how neither ranks very high in total yards per game on offense. Kansas City's passing attack has been slightly better at 222 yards per game to Houston's 207, so I believe it'll largely come down to defense in this game.
Wild Card weekend saw the Texans get a huge momentum boost from their defense, they were largely responsible for Herbet's awful game, and if they can sack Mahomes 4 times like they did Herbert, that'll go a long way in dictating the terms of this game, and the Texans allowed just 315 total yards per game in the regular season.
Other than Philly's defense, the Chiefs D has been my favorite to watch this year. and stopping the run has been the strength of their defense where they gave up just 101 rushing yards per game, so Joe Mixon will have his hands full. He had a busy game last weekend with 25 carries and just over 100 rushing yards for the game.
Now look, I will look like an absolute idiot if I pick the Texans to lose 2 weeks in a row and they win both, but my cardinal rule is that I don't pick against Mahomes and the Chiefs, because that's the easiest way to lose money or end up with an incorrect pick.
Prediction: Kansas City Chiefs win 23-21
Tumblr media
2. Buffalo Bills vs Baltimore Ravens
The Baltimore Ravens are 3-2 against the Bills since 2018, which is most of the time since Josh Allen and Lamar Jackson became starters.
The last meeting between the two saw the Ravens put on a dominant display at home in week 4 and the Ravens rushing offense was simply too much for the Bills, 11 rushing first downs and 271 yards total on the ground for the game by Baltimore.
The Bills defense was incredible against the Broncos, holding them to 2/9 on 3rd down and 79 rushing yards for the entire game!! and they'll need to replicate that somewhat, even if they don't completely stop the Ravens rushing offense.
Buffalo have the 2nd fewest giveaways in the league this season, so they are great at taking care of the ball on offense, Baltimore's defense have managed only 17 takeaways throughout the regular season, so Josh Allen and the Bills offense must carry the day.
That's a problem for the Bills, because Baltimore's defense is one of the most improved in the league, their run defense ended the regular season as number 1 in the league, allowing just 80.1 yards per game.
All things considered, Baltimore do have a slight edge, so I'm going with Baltimore.
Prediction: Baltimore Ravens win 24-20
Tumblr media
3. Washington Commanders vs Detroit Lions
The only Divisional Round game that isn't a rematch from the regular season.
The biggest concern for the Lions if any, is the health of their defense, where they've had a bunch of injuries this season but still managed to hold firm.
Those injuries on defense are the biggest reason why Detroit games often look like high-scoring video games because the Lions rely on their offense and this week, they face a Washington defense that gave up just 189 passing yards per game and 137 rushing yards per game.
The real x-factor is going to be Jayden Daniels and the Washington offense and he'll be fully aware of the Lions defense surrendering 244 passing yards per game, but have been incredibly stingy in the run defense, opponents managing just 98 rushing yards per game against the Lions.
It sets up an interesting matchup because Washington' running game has been top 3 this season behind Bijan Robinson's carries and Jayden Daniels scrambles.
Washington's pass defense has been among the best in the NFL, just 187 passing yards allowed per game, Detroit are closer to the bottom of the league in this regard, allowing 244 passing yards per game.
This one looks like one of the higher scoring games this weekend, and I believe it'll come down to which team protects the QB and execution in the passing game, and it just so happens that Jayden Daniels is the 6th most sacked quarterback in the league having been downed 47 times in the regular season.
Overall, I think the Lions are the better team and the are the number 1 rated team in punt return yards.
Prediction: Detroit Lions win 32-24
Tumblr media
4. Los Angeles Rams vs Philadelphia Eagles
The Rams are coming into this game with all kinds of newfound confidence, and much of that because of their defense's continual improvements from the regular season and they were excellent last weekend.
As good as the Rams were on Wild Card week, this Eagles team is a different beast, particularly because of the defense's ability to pressure the quarterback. Eagles D sacked Jordan Love twice while taking the ball back four times on Wild Card weekend.
I may be going on a limb, but I do not like how Mathew Stafford performs when pressured by either by rushing 4 or blitzing, and Stafford was sacked 5 times by the Eagles D when the teams played on week 12, and the Rams were 0-8 on 3rd down in that game.
That being said, while the Eagles running game has been unstoppable, the Rams will dare Jalen Hurts and the Eagles passing game to beat them and the Eagles average just 187 passing yards per game.
I don't think it's a stretch to say that this will be the lowest scoring game this weekend, and with Saquon Barkley leading the league in rushing, I believe the Eagles will edge out a tough, gritty snow game.
Prediction: Philadelphia Eagles win 21-17

Dancing with the Stars
Chapter 10: Ending
Tumblr media
« Alright everyone. We're live in 30... 29... 28… »
As one of the assistants on set counted down, Harvey took a final sip of water before settling back into his seat at the table he shared with his colleagues. He then greeted Jake, who had just arrived, only to notice one of the camera operators giving a signal that they were live, the voice of one of the hosts echoing through the studio.
« Ladies and gentlemen, good afternoon. We're happy to have you with us once again this Tuesday for NFL Total Access, where we'll be talking football with all of you. Today, joining me at the table, my usual partner Ames, Emmy Award-winning sportscaster, here on my right, Jake, coach for the Kansas City Chiefs, and on my left, Harvey, former iconic player for the New York Giants with a record of six championship victories. Thank you for being with us, gentlemen »
« Thank you » smiled Jake.
« It’s an honor » added Harvey.
« We’ll take advantage of having our football experts here to discuss tonight’s upcoming game between the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Buffalo Bills, as well as the future of the Baltimore Ravens after their fifth consecutive loss. We’ll also make use of Harvey’s presence to talk about tomorrow’s game between the Giants and the Detroit Lions, getting his thoughts on what seems like an almost certain victory for the New Yorkers »
For a few more minutes, the two hosts continued outlining the rest of the show and the topics they would be covering, followed by a few clips they would analyze later. As one of the assistants signaled that they were no longer on camera, Harvey felt his phone vibrate in the inner pocket of his jacket and let out a snort as he glanced at the message.
Tom Ford was definitely a good idea. Hot
As the man signaled that they were about to go live again, Harvey tucked his phone away just as everyone began sharing their thoughts on the injury of a New Orleans Saints player and a trade between the Cleveland Browns and the Indianapolis Colts. The show moved on, and as they started discussing the Giants vs. Detroit Lions matchup, Ames turned to Harvey for his opinion on the upcoming game.
« Most of the viewers are pretty much convinced that the Giants will win this year. What do you think? »
« Well, given the recent results, I do think the Giants have the upper hand. They’ve got a strong team right now, with a lot of new players showing potential. Meanwhile, Detroit is still a bit uncertain about their lineup. We know they've struggled to bring in new talent, and their quarterback got injured pretty badly at the start of the season. Blake, who’s filling in, still seems to lack some confidence. They’re definitely a bit destabilized, but we’re not immune to surprises. You never know »
« Will we have the honor of hearing you commentate and give your thoughts on the game tomorrow night? »
« Unfortunately, no. My second job is calling, and this time, it's not the Giants I'll be supporting, but my wife »
As the four adults chuckled, Harvey continued with his analysis for a few more minutes before they moved on to the next topic as they spent about half an hour discussing the latest news before the show finally wrapped up.
« And... cut! »
Once the end was announced, Harvey stood up, removed his microphone, and waved to everyone before heading out of the studio to the car waiting for him downstairs. About twenty minutes later, he entered his condo to find it silent, moving through the space in search of his wife.
« Babe? »
As Harvey saw a sock tossed from the bedroom into the living room, he chuckled, realizing she was subtly letting him know she was in the next room. Without hesitation, he quickly caught it — his old football reflexes still kicking in — before stepping into the master bedroom. For a moment, he lingered in the doorway, watching the scene before him with a smile tugging at his lips. At the foot of the bed, a series of open suitcases were scattered around — some packed, others half-full — while his wife crouched in front of them, focused on organizing as she was wearing nothing but a pair of panties and an old Giants t-shirt, her long red hair cascading down her back.
« You know we're only leaving for three days, right? » teased Harvey, leaning against the doorframe.
As she turned to face him, offering a playful, smug smile, Harvey's heart skipped a beat. When their gazes met, a rush of warmth flooded through him, and the years between them seemed to melt away. The memories came flooding back, and for a moment, it was as if no time had passed at all.

4 must watch games in NFL Week 5
Tumblr media
Kareem Elgazzar / USA TODAY NETWORK
Here are THE games to watch this week.
This week is a really curious one in the NFL. There aren’t a ton of “gimme” games on the schedule, and instead we’ve got some competitions between struggling teams, more games between middling organizations, and then these four games, which are really spectacular or interesting matchups.
Whether or not these games actually end up being good is kinda of immaterial. Even a bad game can really tell us something in the story of the 2021 season. So these are the games I’m watching to try and fill in the chapters of this year.
No. 1: Packers vs. Bengals, Sunday, 1 p.m. ET — Fox
If you told me this would be a must-watch game a month ago and I would have laughed at you. That’s why this season has been so beautiful. The assumption before the season began is that the Packers would be dominated the NFC while the Bengals would remain in the cellar of the AFC North as they continue to build off their young talent, but now with both teams at 3-1 I kinda can’t wait to see what happens.
The story of the Packers is well known at this point. Their embarrassing Week 1 struggles gave way to Aaron Rodgers and Co. finding their groove and running through the competition. However, so much less is known or discussed when it comes to the Bengals.
Cincinnati has been quietly excellent this season. Joe Burrow has been outstanding this season outside of a Week 2 SNAFU against the Bears which pulled his season numbers down. Burrow has picked up his rapport with Ja’Marr Chase where the pair left off at LSU, and Tyler Boyd has become a great target in his own right.
This is all backed up by a “bend don’t break” defense that has only given up eight touchdowns on the season, and is allowing the offense room to shine. A win over Green Bay would elevate the Bengals into the larger conversation among the top teams of the AFC.
No. 2: Browns vs. Chargers, Sunday, 4:05 p.m. ET — CBS
Another battle of 3-1 teams, Browns vs. Chargers is the perfect example of how teams can build and evolve in the NFL. Where both teams were once laughing stocks, now they are legitimate threats to win their respective divisions.
This is shaping up to be purely an offensive vs. defensive affair. The Chargers are 3-1 right now because of the stellar play of Justin Herbert, who in one year has completely changed the future of this franchise. Meanwhile, honestly, the Browns passing offense has been spectacularly average, and Baker Mayfield really hasn’t been good in 2021.
Thankfully for Cleveland they boast one of the best rushing attacks in the NFL, and a defense that’s only giving up 275 yard per game. It’s an old-school construction that’s working for them, and gives them plenty of room to win football games.
No. 3: 49ers vs. Cardinals, Sunday, 4:05 p.m. ET — Fox
The 49ers might only be 2-2, but they’re a dangerous 2-2. Meanwhile the Cardinals, the last undefeated team in the NFL, looks damn-near perfect on offense, with a defense good enough to keep them in games.
This is just going to be a fun battle, and I kind of really want to see Arizona keep this run alive — just because they’re so entertaining.
No. 4: Bills vs. Chiefs, Sunday, 8:20 p.m. ET — NBC
AFC Championship rematch ... nuff said.
Well, there is more we can talk about here. Namely that the Chiefs are looking really, really shaky this season and are in dire need of a win. Meanwhile the Bills are looking for revenge for keeping them out of the Super Bowl.
The Kansas City defense is so spectacularly bad this season I honestly don’t know if they can stop Josh Allen. I have a lot more faith in Buffalo winning this one, but should Kansas City fall to 2-3, well, that’s definitely a hole to dig out of.
That’s enough drama for me to tune in.

NFL 2024 Wildcard Round Preview & Predictions
Tumblr media
While I haven't posted any NFL blogs this season I have been sure to keep an eye on the happenings throughout the league, and we're finally in the part of the season that matters.
So lets dive in to the full plate of nuggets and preview this weekend's games.
Tumblr media
1. Detroit Lions vs Los Angeles Rams
Of all the games that will be played on this weekend, this one has the most storylines and subplots.
Starting with quarterbacks who traded places 3 years ago and now face off. Fortunately, this matchup will likely be decided by more than just the quarterbacks.
The Rams appear to have found a remedy to thier run game through Kyren Williams, who is 3rd in total rushing yards, and in contrast the Lions have a more balanced attack with David Montgomerry leading their run game and Amon-Ra St. Brown leading thier pass catchers.
This is a situation where I am opting to pick with my head over my heart, and while I'll actually be rooting for the Lions to win the game because thier story in 2023 has been phenomenal, I am going to pick the Rams and Sean McVay to win in Detroit and upset the team with a better record.
MY PICK: Rams Win 27-24
Tumblr media
2. Tampa Bay Buccanneers vs Philadelphia Eagles
I am in a state of near-catastrohic horror at what has happened to the Philadelphia Eagles in 2023.
What started out as a promising season and Philly repeatedly executing the greatest play ever executed in NFL history, has turned into a late season collapse that started with that really bad loss to the 9ers in week 13.
Thier defensive back issues have now spiralled in to a team that leak points so badly, they lost to the New York Giants in week 17, and it's crept it's way on to the offense, and the Eagles were shutout and put up 0 points.
Then you have to factor in Philly's history against Tampa Bay itself. Flashbacks to 2002 when Gruden's defensive juggernauts domniated Donovan McNabb and the Eagles, as well as the more recent 15-31 demolition at the hands of Tom Brady's Buccaneers in the 2021 playoffs.
I will say this, I am glad that Bruce Arians isn't calling plays in Tampa because he'd air it out on these Philly db's.
My biggest concern though, is that Jalen Hurts has 9 fumbles this season and Tampa safety Antoine Winfield, is joint-leader in forced fumbles with 6, and Tampa have been good at that as a team with 18 on the season.
I'll pick the Eagles to win here, only because I still think the Eagles offense has some life left in it and I am a Jalen Hurts believer.
MY PICK: Eagles Win 21-16
Tumblr media
3. Kansas City Chiefs vs Miami Dolphins
Honestly, I don't root for the FIns and I don't even enjoy watching them play neccessarily, but I do enjoy the schadenfreud of watching Tua Tagovailoa, lead the league in passing yards and quarterback a team in the playoffs.
The Chiefs are different story and to be honest with I have enjoyed watching the Chiefs more this year, than any other season of the Mahomes era, at times it's been kind of comical.
The Dolphins are dealing with a bunch of injuries. Jaylen Waddle, Bradley Chubb, Xavien Howard, Raheem Mostert were all out in week 18 and likely in the Wildcard round too.
The Chiefs have to like thier chances and thier recievers can breath a little bit easier, knowing the Dolphins won't be thier usual high-scoring selves. I fully expect the Chief's recievers to drop passes, but this particular opponent can't make them pay them when they do it on 3rd down.
The only issue I see, is Kansas City are not a high scoring team in thier own right either, and while the Fins'injuries are worse.
I want the Fins to win but their too injured and will likely lose a close low scoring game in Arrowhead on Tyreke Hill's return.
MY PICK: Chiefs win 21-17
Tumblr media
4. Buffalo Bills vs Pittsburgh Steelers
I honestly think that the Pitburgh Steelers are doing is winning games via witchcraft because just as recenty as week 14, the entire state of Pennsylvania wanted him fired.
The Bills for thier part, started the first 10 weeks of the season with a 5-5 record and have since ripped off a 6 game winning streak that sees them in the 2 seed.
The Steelers offense sputtered badly midway through the season, but since week 16 and putting Mason Rudolph on the field, things have been looking up.
It sucks that TJ Watt won't play, he leads the league in sacks and that matters because the Bills are the best team in 3rd down percentage this season with 49%.
Buffalo finally appear to have found some balance between Josh Allen heroics and establishing the run. To make matters worse, Buffalo also rank as one of the best pass defenses in the league, ranking 7th in opponent passing yards.
What this comes down to, is that the Bills have Josh Allen and the Steelers are quarterbacked by Mason Rudolph, and in contrast to most of the weekend's games, you can't convince me that the favorite isn't winning this.
MY PICK: Bills Win 28-16
Tumblr media
5. Cleveland Browns vs Houston Texans
The Browns have been my guilty pleasure all season long, and those sideline-to-sideline videos on thier Youtube channel are honestly awesome.
A team whose defense has been lead by Myles Garret, and has had to find thier identity on the offensive side of the ball becasue of injures to 3 different quarterbacks this season, and while I don't love Kevin Stefanksi's play calling, he does deserve credit for the circumstance he was in this year and how his team kept winning.
The Houston Texans have undergone a rejuvenation in thier own right with newly drafted CJ Stroud under center.
While Deshaun Watson will have to watch his current and former teams from the sidelines as a result of a shoulder injury, Joe Flacco will quarterback the Browns and has since week 14, and with him has come a new confidence to the Browns' offense.
I'll gladly take the Browns and thier newly minted Joe Flacco offense, alongside the best defense in the NFL to win this one.
MY PICK: Browns Win 27-20
Tumblr media
6. Dallas Cowboys vs Greenbay Packers
The Packers are in a unique position because of how quickly they've gotten back to playoff contention.
I get that Jordan Love has been given the mantle as appears to have been the plan since he was drafted, and I don't know what to make of him getting the Packers to the playoffs in his first season. It's kind of unreal that the Packers got over Aaron Rodgers this quickly, add to that Love isn't the finished article yet.
The other major storyline is Cowboys head coach, Mike McCarthy playing host to his former team and that will surely dominate the headlines and previews going in to the weekend.
Dak Prescott leads the league in passes completed, as well as passing touchdowns, and CeeDee Lamb leads the league in passes caught.
Plus I like the idea of Dallas' defense against a young quarterback, playing in thier home building and Dallas corner DaRon Bland leads the league in interceptions.
I'm picking Dallas to win, but beware because anyone who picks the underdog is not crazy. Jordan Love is completing 64% of his passes and the sneaky Packers, always seem to come up with something from special teams through Keisean Nixon.
MY PICK: Cowboys win 34-27
