#when you ask 'why' with kane's arc.....you don't get that

Everything I wanna ask is stuff you're prolly gonna say 'wait for the rambles' xD I wanna know how they met, I wanna know more about the Vex colony in general... basically I wanna sit in front of you and Link and be like tell me everything.
I did see the word mate used in those rp snippets tho. 👀 Are Kane and Nico mates? Or am I misreading that?
And what do they think of Scar being with an avian?
-🎀
weeeeell maybe, but you can shoot your shot! :D
i'm going tell you... that they met before the vex arc :3c
vex commune is a great place! a little village with a wall partially around it, full of vexes who work together to survive. they have little farms, one single old goat, and they go out to hunt. and they are very against the hunters. they actively fight any that breach their area.
they're also rough. sharp-edged. they solve arguments through fighting. (their vex form can heal them so it's not like they're putting each other out of commission) they don't shy away from violence, and they like to live unapologetically. and... they do more than just survive. they make drinks and have little parties and celebrations, they dance and spar, they have communal events and train together. they go on patrols and have each others' backs. they're very protective of their own! a vex pack!
there's one more vex oc that will be in this arc, nadia. she's more of a calmer, guiding presence. she's older, and she's lost her mate, and... just like scar and grian, she isn't originally from this world :3c
yes, kane and nico are mates, you got that right! <3
grian being an avian is definitely tricky. (they're honestly just surprised he's even alive, with feathers like that—)
as for him being scar's mate, they definitely think he can't possibly give scar what scar (as a vex) needs. this becomes obvious when they ask grian about their mating marks, and why only grian is marked. (they don't know about avians and feathers.) they think surely this is unfair for grian's partner!
cue grian stressing himself out that they might be right and he's a bad mate to scar.
while the others learn to accept grian and realise they might've been wrong, grian also learns about vexes! for example, that they also like their wings touched, and it can be intimate and soothing for them! (just another failure on his part.)
of course scar is fiercely protective of his partner and madly in love though, so they're gonna be okay <333 and the others will eventually come to understand, too. it might just take a while, because it's all so very new to them.
(in the rp bit, you can see that it's even noted that there was a shift over time, right in this sentence: Despite claiming victory during their previous dispute over insensitivity, Kane clearly cares to get this right.)
#ange answers#ribbon anon#hhau#hhau vex arc#so many fun things in this arc!#once survival isn't a priority there's enough space for other concerns#healing has many pitfalls#and grian definitely questions if he's good enough for scar#on top of his usual self worth issues#when he sees all these mated vexes around#scar also somewhat struggles to fit in!#he's not a warrior#he's not rough#he doesn't like fighting#but he learns too

why do you think lexa wasn't? genuinely curious/asking
happy to answer this one actually! so this is in reference to my bold claim that lexa's death on the 100 was not part of the bury your gays trope and i stand by that.
so the 100 was a show in which main characters died every season. when adc decided to leave the 100 there was truly no other way to write lexa's character off than to kill her. again, this is a show where lincoln would die episodes later, finn had died the season previous, wells died, monty and harper would die, jasper would die, kane and abby would die, and im sure there are plenty more i'm forgetting. main characters died all the time.
lexa is actually as far as i can remember the only canon queer character who died -- clarke, niylah, and miller all survive to the finale. there was no way to have lexa walk off into the sunset for a season and pop in and out. she was too consequential as a character. when adc left, lexa had to die, and i don't think the way she was killed was particularly disrespectful. in fact, i would argue that her death was the most resonant in the plotline long after she was gone. it advanced the plot, advanced clarke's character, and was a rather beautiful send off scene. lexa was mentioned post-death more than any other character on the show. i know there are some people who have issues with the fact that she and clarke had just gotten together when it happened, but that's just a common writing trope -- the character gets what they want only to die immediately after. super common.
now, that said, i understand that she was one of several lesbian deaths on television that year, and i don't begrudge any queer woman who mourned that death in a deeper way. there is so little representation that when a sapphic character we love dies so brutally it can feel like more than just a television death. that said, i don't think jroth (a man of many crimes) did anything wrong by killing off lexa nor killing her off in the way he did. it wasn't offensive.
the 100 is a survival show. as a queer woman i personally find it just as dehumanizing to demand that the only queer stories we get are happy as to say that every queer story must be tragic. and queer people deserve well-written, resonant tragedies. lexa's arc/clexa's arc on the 100 was beautiful and well-executed, and it wasn't offensive to kill her off. "bury your gays" is not just when a queer person dies. it's when the queer character is seen as expendable, is usually the only queer person in the cast, and usually not on a show/film where characters die regularly. it has ties to the hayes production code in which homosexuality was seen as immorality and was required under the code's rules to be punished, often resulting in queer characters dying or committing suicide.
i don't think that trope describes lexa. i think her death made sense for a show in which there was a lot of death and carnage, i think her character was well-written, well-developed and honored long after her death, and i think we would be remiss to say that she cannot die merely because she is queer when there are truly no other compelling reasons for why it would be wrong to kill that character off on a survival show. and i would hardly call it shock value, which is usually what the bury your gays trope is.
#dana answers stuff#the 100 meta#again it's a nuanced conversation but i just don't understand#how anyone could argue that her character should not have been allowed to die#considering the genre of the show she was on#it just seems pretty simple to me and if we say lexa can't die#then that means no queer character ever should be able to die#so......... that wouldn't make sense now would it

Some people have asked me why I'm able to enjoy so much media and they don't assume that I'm uncritical of it or anything like that, they're just wondering why I barely ever let gripes bother me and it's because I think that sometimes in life we just need to enjoy something that's not that fundamentally life-changing but just fun. Like I think Konosuba has a stupid premise for example, but watching it is fun because it's like chewing cotton candy. I'm not expecting something thoughtful or progressive, I'm just trying to watch a band of idiots on their silly journey.
That's a lot of words to say that everyone should enjoy some mid media because even getting a marginal amount of entertainment in spite of something being flawed is still a worthwhile journey more often than not. Even if the only thing you take away was "wow I didn't like that" you still have a jump off point to talk about something with somebody else, I don't watch Riverdale thinking "wow this is the best written thing ever" but the absurdity is its own form of entertainment and being a person that knows about it has led to many long conversations with people explaining how wild that show gets.
I don't watch, read or engage with stuff looking to get the maximum impact out, sometimes my brain just needs something to chew on, even if it's ultimately unsatisfying or bad. I think we'd all be a lot happier seeking less perfection & accepting that sometimes it only takes one character or one scene or arc or something to ground it in our memories. Being "meaningful" or having "memorability" is not a function of flawless construction - usually something we like has pitfalls, but you don't have to justify that you are fully cognizant of the flaws of something you like all the time (granted, I do harp on my gripes with G-Witch but anyone who has spoken to me about it knows I loved watching it and still like it now). You don't have to feel paranoid that you come off as uncritical about something you like - unless it's like Hetalia then you probably should but pretty much everything else you're probably good just having a smile and enjoying what you enjoy. I think people assuming you aren't smart enough to recognise writing failures or flaws in something is more of a projection of their own moral standards unfairly unto someone else who isn't even doing wrong by saying "I like this flawed media without self-flagellating myself every time I mention it".
I think the internet fosters a sense of hyper-vigilance around "I like this thing that's stupid to others but please don't think I'm a bad person for that". To view other people in such absolute terms is to reject any interest in acknowledging their complexity as capacity for critical reflection, and that's why I have such a lax attitued about mostly anything and generally talk about things I like even if I do stop to complain about this or that, I don't think that proving I have a brain inside my head is a priority when I say "I liked watching this 6/10 show". The most simple concept is this: life is already really fucking hard, I am not trying to optimize my free time by watching the Citizen Kane of Cartoons all the time when I have 1-4 hours free per day after work.

hello design-wise can you elaborate on the eyes in Oshi no Ko? with the characters Akane, Kana, and Mem-cho? A review about it noted that Kana’s eyes resemble galaxies, Akane’s look like an evening sky and Mem-Cho’s resemble daytime, complete with light reflections forming clouds as shown below. can you write how the design of the eyes of the characters meant something for their characters and story like what it says about?
Hi!
I agree with @hamliet's answer to the same question here. In general, I don't think the twilight/dawn sky motif matters much tbh. It is an aesthetical choice, which mirrors the two characters' personalities:
Akane is linked to the shadow, so twilight
Mem-cho is one of the nicer characters, so dawn
In general, I don't think Akane and Mem-cho's foiling is that strong. Mostly because Mem-cho is not much important to the story (so far). Akane instead is an important character. That said, things might change in the future.
Something they have in common, though, is that they are both introduced in the same arc. They appear as participants to a reality show. Mem-cho is shown to be good at it, while Akane struggles. Mem-cho seems spontaneous and comfortable at showing her real self in front of the cameras. Akane instead needs a character to play, so that she can succeed. Still, it is soon revealed the two of them are actually pretty similar. Both wear personas as they struggle in the showbusiness world. Mem-cho constantly plays the part of a high school student, while Akane evolves as an actress, as she plays Ai.
Speaking of Ai, as per usual, you can see the two characters as two sides of her (Ai is really the pivotal character of the story :P):
Mem-cho comes from a disadvantaged economical situation. She has to look after her mother and siblings, which makes her unable to follow her dreams. Similarly, Ai is a girl, who runs away from an abusive situation and her dream is cut short by her tragic end.
Akane is a genius actress like Ai. She is able to analyze characters and play perfect parts and is recognized as a prodigy by the people around her.
Mem-cho is idol AI linked to light. Akane is actress Ai linked to shadows. (That said, their foiling isn't as strong as Akane/Kane or Aqua/Ruby, so take it with a grain of salt). Maybe this is why they gain star eyes the moment their link with Ai gets highlighted.
Mem-cho's eyes shine brightly when she is offered by Aqua the chance to join B-Komachi.
Akane gains star eyes the moment she starts imitating Ai.
It is as if Ai's strong light mirrors in them. They haven't naturally inherited Ai's starry eyes like Ruby or Aqua. Still, they inderectly are inspired and rejoice of that same light.
As for starry eyes in general...
Ai is the perfect idol and has starry eyes because (1) she is a star and (2) she follows her dream to love and be loved
Hikaru has black starry eyes because (1) he is an actor with incredible talent and (2) he has fallen to darkness (in other words his hidden light got corrupted)
Aqua and Ruby have blue and red eyes (blue + red = purple) with one single star each because they have inherited different sides of Ai. Aqua is the actor, while Ruby is the actress. They have some of their mother's light, but they risk to turn it into darkness
Kana has galaxy eyes because she loves acting more than anyone else and she represents light. Interestingly, she is currently facing her own shadows, which she needs to integrate with if she wants to grow as an actress and as a person
Akane has star eyes because she is such a talented actress she can imitate Ai's light, which means she herself has a lot of talent within herself
So, star eyes are simply symbolic of one's talent as an entertainer + one's passion for the enterteinment world. This talent/passion can bring happiness and light. However, it can also be corrupted and lost to darkness.
Thank you for the ask!

Hola Frank, ¿cuál es tu película favorita?
Hmm, hard question. I've seen a lot of movies! A few that come to mind off the top of my head: Sunset Boulevard, Brazil, and The Truman Show. (I haven't watched any Kubrick or Tarkovsky.) If you want me to be more serious about this ask then I could talk at length about how I feel about these films in particular; if not, here are some others for your consideration:
Fight Club (A++ movie)
To Die For (Owen Wilson is great in it but Nicole Kidman is great too)
American Psycho (Very good, very creepy -- Patrick Bateman's voiceover narration is really well done, which surprised me because usually voiceover narrators annoy me)
Spider-Man 3 (Not as good as the other Spider-Man movies but Tom Holland was fantastic in it)
There Will Be Blood (Daniel Day Lewis and Paul Dano were phenomenal together)
Lost In Translation (This one gets brought up a lot so maybe its reputation precedes it but I thought it was pretty dull overall)
Pulp Fiction (Still good even though Tarantino has made worse things since this came out -- it just feels like he hasn't learned anything from his mistakes yet?)
Casablanca (Great acting and dialogue, romance with an edge, also I love Bogart)
Gone Girl (Really fucking weird but somehow still compelling? It probably should have been better than it ended up being)
Rosemary's Baby (Wow, Mia Farrow was hot back when she had hair!)
Into The Wild (Jon Krakauer is such a pretentious asshole but this book is nonetheless amazingly gripping)
Point Break (That scene where Johnny Utah takes down Bodhi in the gym is still one of the best action sequences ever)
Princess Bride (It will never stop being funny watching Wesley get hit by lightning while trying to kill Buttercup)
Magnolia (You know what? This film is kind of bad but there's something unironically charming about its ambition anyway)
Vertigo (Of course Hitchcock knows exactly what everyone else thinks about him)
Dead Man Walking (Sean Penn is underrated)
The Passion Of Joan Of Arc (Arguably the greatest silent movie ever created)
La Dolce Vita (One day I need to watch all of Federico Fellini's stuff)
Aside from those, Blue Velvet (David Lynch is generally overrated but some parts of this movie are really excellent), Groundhog Day (More Bill Murray, duh), Taxi Driver (Robert DeNiro is incredible), Amelie (Too twee), Citizen Kane (Good movie but why does it always get talked about like it invented everything?), Moonraker ("No Mr. Bond... we don't do that!" "Then who does?" "The French.")

i havent been here in a hot second is there a reason for the makoto hate specifically? like the rants go back to p5's writing issues but the spite for makoto seems very specific did she kill someones dog in one of the spinoffs or what?
You're all good. So here's the thing, she did kill my dog-I'm joking.
When I say “I’m the residential #1 Makoto Hater” it’s a joke, partially cause it probs looks that way (and probs cause it might be true, who knows if you could quantify hate then maybe I’m at the top of the leaderboards 8U but you can’t so we’ll never know). But I’m saying it at as a joke, to own myself and everyone here that knows what I think of her, rather than wear it as a badge of honor or some silliness. It’s just a “oh haha yeah there goes Silly, dunking on Makoto again! She’s basically Makoto’s #1 hater haha oh she’s so silly.” (so please don’t look too deep into it, I just want to have fun).
Anyway, me hating Makoto isn’t new, but I do hold a similar ire towards Futaba, Goro (tho I have camaraderie with his fans, I relate to their struggle in terms of my own brown hair and red eye fav and Atlus screwing them over u_u I may hate your fave but I respect you and will be in your corner), and Yukari (as well as Chloe from LiS if you want a non-Persona example). Makoto might be talked about more because 1) She hits my buttons that much faster (Futaba/Goro are more like a festering wound, and when I talk about them it’s hard to pick a starting point), 2) Her fans tendency (early on in the fandom) bringing her up frequently.....was a bad combo with #1 (overexposure+pushing all my buttons really fast=disaster). Obvie not blaming her fans, but it was hard to curate how I was able to curate my content online (esp with gaming news websites calling her “best girl” when showing off a figure announcement or some BS when I just want to know what new games have been announced >.> I can do without you trying to start a waifu war in the comments Siliconera -_-)
Anyway, I think I’ve made my reasons for hating her very clear (you just have to search her name on my blog and you’ll get a ton of essays I’m sure, too many to count). And a lot of it is the failure of P5′s writing. “So it’s just the writing you hate, not the character.” No. Because that doesn’t make sense. Except under certain circumstances (which I’ll provide examples of below with Luke Skywalker), you can’t separate the writing from the character. The character IS the writing, the writing IS the character. If you can’t hate/dislike the char because “of the writing” then you also can’t love/like them either. The character and the writing/writing choices for that character are connected. The writing embodies that character. They are the same.
Now I said there was an exception, and that’s....”different writer/director,” tho it’s not ALWAYS the case (sometimes the new writer really gets the original writing, like Saito for MM.....they are very good at emulating the clusterfuck of P5′s writing). P5′s writing is the original basis for Makoto’s character, that’s her. You can’t separate it from her. Same thing with say....Luke Skywalker from the OG trilogy, that’s him. But then we get to the sequel/Disney trilogy, new writer/director....and yeah that’s a mess (from what I understand OG trilogy=Hopeful and tries to see the best in people, 2nd Disney=Cynic and tried to kill a child, 3rd Disney=Hopeful again for some reason). There’s character development, then there’s just straight up changing the character just cause you need them to be this now.
*writes how this can apply to Persona spinoffs but deletes because I was getting too off track* Look at me exercising control. It’s probs best I save that for a meta after I’ve replayed all the spinoffs again.
But....if you want me to boil down my issues with Makoto, I hate the message we get from her. I hate the lesson we learn from her. What is supposed to happen vs what happens. It’s supposed to be about a girl who is blindly following authority and becomes disillusioned with it after being burned by it, on top of “immense pressure” she has as well, and then comes to our side (we know this because Atlus told us). We don’t get that (we know this because we saw the execution). We get two adults, yes TWO ADULTS, one of which is her sister and wants her to do well in school (but isn’t like.....a tiger mom about it, because Sae can’t be TOO horrible because we need to like her later), who in retrospect seems very busy with her job (which gives Makoto freedom), but also feels burdened by her younger sister (in which she has one shitty slip with her and then NEVER again). And the other is a dumbass principal who asks a really strange and stupid task for Makoto that snowballs into bullshit. That’s IT! THAT’S IT! That’s all we get from Makoto and “authority.” Strawmen. We don’t really get much of her personality either (I’m not saying that cause “she’s cardboard” I legit just.....don’t get her? Like I don’t get enough of her to get a solid foundation, you get me?) Like as the player, what we see of her is she’s just studying in the library (Kamo arc), then the principal calls her in, she mentions the rumors about Kamo, he asks her to look into the PT in exchange for a recommendation (to which she’s surprised and says thanks, not no, she looks like she’ll accept JUST BASED ON THAT) but before she can even say Yes (OR NO) he threatens Makoto with her sister, to which Makoto hardens and then agrees. Then she acts like an asshole and yadda yadda stuff happens.
But if she’s supposed to blindly follow authority, she’d say yes, but then they don’t let the character breathe so she can make the “wrong” choice because the Principal goes STRAIGHT to threatening her.......so now the message is muddled, or really it’s non existent. The whole Sae thing is a nothing bag too, it’s just family drama. Her sister is, no HAS to be absent a lot for her work, just so Makoto can have the freedom to be a PT....which means....it hurts her lack of freedom and other stuff associated with Sae being a big pressure on Makoto’s life. You know, I’ve said before they’ve squandered Sae, and that Makoto’s presence really harmed Sae (iirc it was this post). But at the same time, how they handled Sae really screws up Makoto’s character. Neither are allowed to breathe. Neither are allowed to make a true, horrible choice...and then learn from it. They aren’t allowed to have an actual arc. Altus played it safe, took choice away from them, didn’t want to take risks with either character and have meaning. Instead we just have this nothing contradiction thing dicking around until they join our team.
What really sucks about that....is we got that with the Kamo arc. With Anne, Ryuji, even Yuki and Shiho. Kamo was manipulative, and his manipulation caused people to make....not the best choices, all out of a means to survive. Ryuji physically acted against Kamo, and he got his leg broken, team disbanded, and outcasted. Anne was trying to protect Shiho’s position on the team, which lead to her almost getting harmed by Kamo, Shiho getting harmed, her not seeing the truth about what was going on around her, and she didn’t tell Shiho (because she didn’t want Shiho to think she didn’t get on the team for her own merits), and so on. Shiho didn’t tell Anne what was going on because she wanted to protect Anne from Kamo (and was afraid Anne would, very much blame herself), and her and Yuki and the rest of the teams helped keep quiet about Kamo so they wouldn’t be next on the physical chopping block. This isn’t me blaming them, this is me showing their choices, their attempts to fix their (hopeless) situation, to help themselves or others, and the dramatic irony being it just made everything worse. BUT, even tho Kamo was the real one to blame, each character is aware of the actions that were made, and the consequences of each action (esp Anne/Ryuji/Shiho). And in their CoOps, they identify this, and take strides to learn from it so it doesn’t happen again. That’s an arc. That’s character development. They were allowed to make errors, mistakes, decisions that negatively impacted themselves/other’s. We see a solid foundation of their character from the get go, and how it changes over that small time. We don’t get that with Makoto. The group is like solid concrete to Makoto who is like shifting sand.
Sorry got a bit off topic, anyway, I hate her message of boasting about her fighting ability but she only harms her friends (outside of shadows, but that’s not special) WHILE ALSO being a damsel that needs someone else to rescue her! I hate how when she gets called out, she wants to drop it, and gives gaslighty apologies, even tho she really ROYALLY screwed lot of people very badly. I hate how she demands us to help, only to literally be a detriment to our investigation. I hate how she gets to fly off the handle without repercussions (despite needing to be cool calm and collected for her job, especially since she miraculously can do that when needed so what the hell????). I hate how the text has her be shitty, say shitty things, be bad at her job, but will turn around and reward her time and time again.
Sure she doesn’t break the lore like Futaba, or unravel P5′s plot like Goro. But as a character with a message attached to her, even ones that the creators surely overlooked (I’m sure they didn’t intend for her to only hit her friends), it’s simple but very annoying. Fast and easy to see, doesn’t require me to think of P5′s lore as well as the grander Persona lore. Doesn’t require me to dig through text for Goro bread crumbs and then unravel the entire basis of the P5 plot thanks to him. Makoto is easier to get into, it’s smaller scale and more personal I guess.
#silly asks#silly answers#makoto salt#the thing with Kamo's arc is that when you ask 'why' to why a character or a situation is the way it is you can give a decent 'because'#when you ask 'why' with kane's arc.....you don't get that#you get a 'because' but then you keep asking 'why'#why does makoto have to stalk the PT? Because the principal is making her do it#But why is he making her do it? Because the conspiracy is breathing down his neck.#1) WHY her tho? seems a bit contrived and might not work 2) WHY do they care about some principal?#Because......um...... For 2 because he's part of the conspiracy.#Why is he part of the Conspiracy then? Um....they put him there?#BUT WHY did they put him there? Cause....it's prestigious?#BUT the game said Kamo fixed the school's bad rep so it wasn't always that...and he hired kamo.....SO WHY does he owe them getting a job at-#-a shitty school? WHY did he need help getting a job there? WHY is Haru there if-#you see? kane's arc unravels a good portion of what P5 (a least school) is based off of#vs Anne#Why won't Shiho tell Anne about the abuse? She's afraid anne might think it's her (anne's) fault and she loves her friend and wants to-#protect her. why doens't anne tell shiho? Anne doesn't want shiho to think it's shiho's fault and wants to protect shiho#kamo's arc is full of dramatic irony and people making wrong choices (which they might not realize in hindsight)#why doesn't anne know shiho is being abused? Anne thinks shiho is upset about her position on the team also Kamo won't let anyone watch#the practices so we just take the team's words at face value also the teams are protecting kamo to keep from getting hurt-#also shiho won't tell anne anything and so anne just assumes it's a rough practice and that shiho is afraid of losing her spot ALSO#ALSO anne isn't psychic also anne is outcasted from the rest of the school so she doesn't interact with them so she doesn't know what's up-#with other people and-#you can go on they have their bases covered in kamo's arc they have reasons#kamo's arc is also a bit more grounded (kane being ungrounded because of the stupid princpal and his bs0#sorry for the side rant just.......#you don't have to agree with decisions in the kamo arc...but at least they GAVE us reasonings (and the chars are aware#in hindsight that their decisions weren't great and chose to learn from them)

Serotonin Booster :D 🐉
How to train your dragon edition
Here are some things I had forgotten or little details I just noticed on my rewatch, maybe even Unpopular Opinions 🤭👀
✨Race to the Edge✨
SEASON 6
I love how the twins were basically the reason Hiccup figured out that Johan was the spy
NOOO THE WAY GOTHI WENT TO TRY AND STOP STOICK FROM THROWING AWAY HER MEDICINE AND THEN GOT THROWN OFF THE CLIFF WAS SO FUNNY [ep2]
Omg that fight between Hiccup and Stoick in ep2 was crazy whenever Stoick said "I'm talking to the expert in getting duped by Trader Johan" and THEN HICCUP WAS LIKE "but I was only duped for half as long as you were. So what does that make you?"
Awww the way both Toothless and Skull-crusher were trying to get them to talk
And also Astrid being the only one that wasn't caught by the Hunters right away, she's just superior bro
I love how both of them were right - Stoick was right to not trust the merchants and Hiccup was right about Johan's plan
Toothless is actually so strong like he's not only agile and clever, I mean he just flew up to the ballista and crashed against it and destroyed it without using his Plasma Blast 😎🤩
Mala and Dagur fighting over where the Dragon Eye lenses are gonna be hidden is hilarious. Mala is so calm I love it
I got chills when Atali was like "no, Hiccup, this is my island I will defend it"
I really want to know the origin of the Wingmaidens, like where did all these women come from? How come they're still there?
I love Minden and Snotlout's relationship, the way he tried to convince her to not give up AND SHE KISSED HIM!!!
Krogan's Singetail actually cares about him
Never gonna get over Adelaide Kane voicing Mala
Also Snotlout running when the dude had the razorwhip on him LIKE HE WAS LITERALLY FLYING AND HE WAS STILL RUNNING Y'ALL HAVE TO WATCH THAT SCENE I JUST DONT KNOW HOW TO DESCRIBE IT ITS IN EP3
Generations ago Fishlegs's ancestors were dragon hunters
The Loyal Order of Ingerman - decimated the Dramillion dragons, pushing them to the brink of extinction
Grump is amazing I love him
Dramillions - have both a lava blast and a magnesium blast. Omnivores. Still being hunted.
The Hunters were founded by Ingar Ingerman
The Dramillion trying to take the manacle off his tail🥺
And when Fishlegs threw his helmet and THEN THE HAND THING 😭🥺
I love the Dramillions they're so smart they learned how to get rid of the manacles by just looking at what Meatlug and Stormfly were doing 🥺
I just realized that the twins are 19 AND I FIND THAT ABSOLUTELY CRAZY HOW CAN THEY BE THAT OLD
I really wish we knew each of their birthdays like I wanna know which one's older and which one's younger
I feel like for some reason the twins would be the oldest ones then Fishlegs then Astrid then Snotlout and lastly Hiccup. Idk I'm still iffy on this
Most Thorstons don't make it to 19
I love the twins' relationship, they love each other so much that they would rather be alone and not form part of a clan than leave each other alone and the fact that other people know this too? Plsss like the only reason Gruffnut got them back into the fake induction trials was by telling them how bad it'd be for each other to not be part of a clan.
Titanwing Zippleback HOW DO THEY KNOW ITS A TITANWING IT LOOKS THE SAME AS THE OTHER ZIPPLEBACKS
"Ughh, what's the point of winning alone? Being a Thorston means nothing without him. We are one Thorston."
I love them and also technically Ruffnut won the induction trials.
THE LAST LENSE GOSH
Love how Fishlegs cares about global warming
I'm all Snotlout, Toothless and the Triple Stryke reacting to Mala and Dagur- I'm also Mala whenever someone tickles me I'LL KILL U
UGHHH I HATE HOW SNOTLOUT MADE HICCSTRID UNCOMFY FOR HAVING A DIFFERENT RELATIONSHIP
Astrid overthinking 🥺😭
"How would you like your yak cooked?" JSHDHHA
bro I love how both Tuff and Toothless noticed the betrothal necklace
"So want to deliver some scrap metal?" Hiccup baby? Why are you so oblivious?
At least he asked her if she was alright in the armorwing's island 😩
No but if I was Astrid I'd be pissed too, the dude saw a dragon eye lens from far way and didn't notice her betrothal necklace? 🙂😤
No I can't that scene was too harsh to watch, I mean I loved to see Hiccup noticing something was wrong with Astrid but then the way Astrid compared their relationship to Mala and Dagur's and then threw him the betrothal necklace... And the way he caught it too I can't- 😭😞😖😭😓🤧
Seeing the twins trying to capture Mala was hilarious JAHDHDHHSHA
I love how when they're fighting Astrid's still there for him whenever he's expected to have all the answers. She ignored her anger and went over to him and grabbed his hand and that single thing was what gave him confidence in a moment of panic 🥺
"I'm with you"
"I know"
That final Hiccstrid scene in Mi Amore Wing was just too perfect, we have Hiccup grabbing Astrid's hand to bring her outside and talk to her, the sunset in the background, every little thing Hiccup told her about being there for her and loving her with everything he had and that he should've noticed the necklace right away AND THEN THAT KISS WAS JUST AMAZING❗️❗️❗️ it was passionate and sweet and Astrid was blushing and then Fishlegs was all uncomfortable and Mala was like "okaaayyyyy😏" and Dagur like "alrighhtttt👌🏼" ig the only thing I didn't like is that Astrid didn't say I love you back 😭 but it's ok cause yk she does I just wished she had said it.
Baby razorwhips love the water
Tuffnut named the baby razorwhip that bonded with Ruffnut, Wingnutt
Top scenes of Ruff Transition ep7
Tuffnut throwing up in Ruffnut's mouth and Ruffnut throwing up in Wingnutt's mouth just do that he could be fed- seeing the windmaiden's reactions is the best lmao
Hiccup trying to teach Ruffnut how to fly (with his dragon flight suit) and then Ruffnut losing balance but Hiccup helping her regain it BUT we still get overprotective Tuffnut jumping off of Toothless to try and help but all he did was make things worse HIS SCREAM WAS HILARIOUS nonono and the way Toothless tried to help BUT AGAIN MADE THINGS WORSE 😩😮💨😂
Ruffnut finally figuring out how to connect with Wingnutt and fighting the dragon hunters and saving Atali was so badass and then Atali riding Barf 😭🤩
Hiccstrid kiss count (approximately) : 6😘
The way he slightly and carefully touches her face to reassure her that he'll be fine
The Singetail's only predator is the Skrill
The Berserkers used to use metal daggers to lure Skrills into traps. The dragon is drawn to it due to its electrical properties
VIGGO JUST DID THE HAND THING THING WITH THE SKRILL WTF
If I could have any dragon it'd be in this order
Skrill - it's so badass and powerful
Nightfury - it's badass, powerful, pretty, strong and fast
Deadly Nadder - it's extremely fast and agile, has multiple attacks and the spikes
Dramillion - has multiple attacks and is very smart
Just realized that ep8 is called Triple Cross because 1st Johan crossed Viggo 2nd Viggo fake crossed Hiccup and 3rd Viggo and Hiccup crossed Johan and Kogan
That episode was basically jusr to show Viggo's arc and the way he changed for the better and learned to respect dragons
That's why the Singetails wouldn't leave in ep9 whenever they were trying tp free the Deathsong- their eggs! They're in that island.
I can't with Hiccup and Astrid sitting together just chilling but with Astrid feeling guilty and Hiccup assuring her that he was also at fault 😭
I love Narrator/Author Snotlout! The titles of the chapters of his book remind me of the ones from Pjo
Stoick and Skullcrusher acting as 1 and being worried about each other 🥺 I love their relationship
Also the way Stoick bats off the shots from the Singetails with his axe just like Astrid. They're both truly warriors
No but Toothless asking for a head scratch from Gobber bc he's worried abt both Hiccup and Stoick🥺
The way Toothless tried to make Hiccup feel better- I mean the man blamed himself for putting Stoick in "his deathbed" it was just so awful seeing Hiccup in that state and the way everyone was trying to make him feel better but it was ultimately Astrid who managed to get through to him😭
I love it when they put scenes of the movies
I love how Astrid always knows what to say without lying
Looks like it's you and me, then.
Always... was that corny or-
Probably. Nice, though.
The way Astrid is so natural at being a leader and putting everyone on their places 🤩
That lil moment they had in ep12 where he holds her face and thanks her for everything and I just love them too much 😭
I love how Spitelout is so happy when he's beating ass, this dude literally goes "I'm sure I've had more fun than this. But at the moment, I can't remember when"
Have I mentioned I love the Dramillions before? I love them way too much they're amazing and the sound they make is so 😩 I love it
The Dramillion is a distant cousin of the Changewing which means the Titanwing Dramillion shares the de-cloaking ability with its subspecies.
Stormfly's spine clone was literally so badass, my girl was surrounded and she finished every single dragon flyer with it. Badass move. Wish we had seen it more throughout the series
It really pissed me off that Hiccup had to choose between getting Tuff, Ruff and Snotlout out of that sinking ship when he could've been following Krogan. Like ofc it was the right decision but that wouldn't have happened if the twins and Snotlout didn't follow Gruff into the ship :/
I love how strong Barf and Belch are! They literally carried the a Titanwing Dramillion on their own.
That scene when they figured out that the Titanwing Dramillion is not the King of Dragons but instead the last piece of the puzzle to get to the King of Dragons
When the Wingmaidens got to the battle it was amazing
Also the way Dagur was so proud that the King of Dragons was a Berserker and how Ruff was so excited to see Wingnutt and Snotlout to see Minden🥺
THEY REALIZED THAT BBYS AREN'T AFFECTED BY THE KING OF DRAGONS BC OF THE BABY RAZORWHIPS
that last Hiccstrid Scene where Hiccup is worried about Astrid's safety- I mean his face 🥺🥺🥺 and she told him that his dad would be proud and that she's proud too and when she was about to leave he held her back and kissed her 😭😭
Ik I said this before but I simp for Astrid as a leader, she's just so natural at it
Also I love how the King of Dragons has ice powers instead of fire
WAIT SO IS THE EGG THAT HICCUP FINDS IN THE FINALE THAT THEY GIVE TO VALKA IS THAT THE KING OF DRAGONS THAT VALKA CARES FOR IN HTTYD2?!!
Valka being friends with the Wingmaidens sits absoluteky right with me
no but the way Toothless hesitated when Hiccup told him to leave him and get the egg
I love how all the dragons arrived to fight the dragon flyers, it was just so poetical to me, the dragons finally getting to fight the people that hurt them 🤩
I FINISHED IT AND NOW I'M SAD!!! I loved the end tho and I'm glad we got to see Shattermaster at Dagur's wedding, also Astrid's outfit change- we love that. And them leaving the edge is just so sad bro 😭but I love how we got to see some "insight" ig u could call it on HTTYD2 😭 also seeing Snotlout and Fishlegs's love for Ruffnut start forming was hilarious

Bro its so annoying to see people downplaying V-force. I mean, its not as bad as people think are. They are just expecting it to be like 2000 and G-Revolution which had endless number of tournaments. So, should V-Force also jump into the well? Why can't it be distinct from the other two? I know most of the side characters were boring, but not Ozuma, Kane, Zeo and maybe their teammates. I don't know what made people think that it is too bad. Ozuma, Zeo and Kane were so cool and well written.
This was a savage ask girl 👏👏👏
Before I begin, please don’t send so many asks anonymously baka, lol.
It really does irk me when people tell that V-force sucks. Honestly, even I liked G-Revolution and 2000 more than that, but it doesn’t mean that I hate V-Force.
V-Force didn’t have tournaments, but it had plenty of battles. I know most of the side characters were not appealing, but I am actually referring to those recruits who were in the island arc and the five bladers who were appointed by Dr. K. Even Gordo was a bit boring, but not the Saint Shields, Psykicks, and Zeo. These characters were like awesome. I especially liked Kane and Ozuma more than any other character. Honestly, they were really interesting unlike what fans say.
Ozuma did have a lot of character depth and complexity. He was really prominent throughout V-Force. He is really a cool and calm character with an essence of a poised team leader. Infact, he is one of the few bladers who even had a point. People hate Kane but like other characters who were suffering from C-PTSD, pinpointing the glaring hypocrisy in the fandom. I mean, Kane is a very good character. One flaw I found was the lack of role he got, otherwise throughout the Psykicks arc he was written as a tricky character with diverse of emotions. It was so goddamn evident in the battle tower. People just don’t care about him unless and until he has some backstory like Tala. Why is that people think that, “Oh, you have no tragic backstory, you are not interesting.” Like bruh, even I think he could have had something like that but he is Kane. He is just himself! He is still good without a tragic story. Also to mention that not every character should have something like that.
People with tragic backstories are not bad characters, but people with no familiar backgrounds are not bad either.
Zeo.... should I even say? If someone thinks that he was boring, then s/he is more than wrong. He was really interesting with the android-human thing. Still opinion or subjective, but he was far more interesting than so many characters in V-Force.
I am not being a sexist here, but Ozuma and Kane are better written than Mariam and Salima. Honestly speaking, if it were not for the bonds they shared with Max and Ray respectively, they wouldn’t have even had at least forty percent of the fame they have now. They are mostly used as a shipping material for Max and Ray (not that much for Mariam). Kane and Ozuma shared a bond with Tyson, who is more popular than Ray and Max, but why didn’t they get enough popularity when compared to their female counterparts? I will also ask one more thing. If Mariah was not there in the series, so many people would have shipped Ray and Salima. The sole reason why Salima is less popular than Mariam is because many people like Ray/Mariah more. Otherwise, she would have also gotten equal fame as Mariam gets. This is a clear proof for Salima and Mariam being popular only because fans like to see them as love interests for Max and Ray.
Ozuma and Kane don’t get enough fame and popularity they deserve. They don’t get enough recognition for their contribution to the series. They were far more independent than their female counterparts.
No offense for Salima and Mariam fans. I like the both of them and they were also well written, but I should come out and be unbiased for some time.
This ask made my day, girl.

dgmw octavia was terrible during and post-bunker, like genuinely awful. And I'm not excusing that but what she did is comparable to the mt.weather genocide and bellamy's genocide - both of which i think are terrible. But pre-bunker, if my sibling got my partner, or the most important person in my life killed, I'd be pretty pissed at them. I don't get what makes octavia so much worse than all the others?
okay, so i have talked about this a lot on my blog, so i’m not gonna go too in depth here. i’ll try to keep it short. (lmao, i tried, but it got long anyway.)
so, to start off, there’s this widespread belief in the 100 fandom that bellamy got lincoln killed, and it’s just…NOT TRUE. the only reason so many people believe it is that o/ctavia consistently blamed him for it and the narrative was framed so that we would be sorry for her (since she had “lost the love of her life”) and therefore, everything she did, even her gross treatment of bellamy, was justified.
first, she beat him bloody for lincoln’s death and said he was dead to her (3x10). then, she gaslighted him about all of s3a (3x11), which i’m not gonna get into (but if you want to know what i mean by that, i have an extensive post about this somewhere on my blog. i’m sure you’ll find it if you search my ‘octagon’ tag). when bellamy brought lincoln’s body back to arkadia for the funeral, o/ctavia looked right at him while crying with a clear you did this look on her face (3x12). she smacked lincoln’s book out of bellamy’s hand, told him lincoln was dead because of him, and made him flinch because she had a stick in her hand and he probably feared she’d hit him again (3x13). after thinking she was dead and saving her from the ark as it burned, she told him she died the day he killed lincoln and that the only reason he was still alive was because he was her brother, so in other words, she would have killed him if they weren’t related (4x06). that is five times that o/ctavia blamed bellamy for lincoln’s death.
now, let’s look at the canon facts of why lincoln died. there were a number of people involved: lincoln (who turned himself in), pike (his executioner) and o/ctavia (yes, you heard me right). bellamy is not one of them. and the reason that o/ctavia is on the list of people is the same reason that bellamy isn’t, and that is that she drugged him, chained him up in a cave, and did not let him help her. bellamy is one of the smartest people on this show. he infiltrated mount weather. he was pike’s right hand man (until lincoln, kane and sinclair were sentenced to death) and he could have, without a doubt, outsmarted pike and saved all three of them. he had a plan to save them. he came to o/ctavia with that plan. she refused. and she prevented him, the most valuable person they had on their side, from helping. so, when lincoln dies, i don’t see how bellamy is possibly at fault. obviously o/ctavia didn’t mean for this to happen and she didn’t think it would. she thought she didn’t need bellamy, but the thing is, she did need him and lincoln’s death was indirectly her fault because of that. so, she doesn’t get to beat bellamy half to death and blame him for something that is not his fault. you can argue he played some part in it for ever supporting pike, but then you’d also have to blame monty and bryan who, unlike bellamy, were actually given a chance to prove themselves and allowed to help with the rescue mission.
did bellamy aid in a massacre of 300 grounders in a preemptive attack because he thought it would save his people? yes.
did bellamy help get lincoln, kane and sinclair arrested for committing treason? yes.
did bellamy want them to be sentenced to death? hell fucking no.
he didn’t. this is quite literally bellamy’s turning point. it’s the moment he turns on pike. bellamy only followed him because he thought he was protecting their people. the second pike decided to sentence three of their people to death, bellamy was done following pike, and as i said, he came to o/ctavia with a plan and she not only refused his help but chained him up so he couldn’t do anything.
i love bellamy (he’s my favorite character), so i guess you could argue that i’m not being fair to o/ctavia. that she had no reason to trust him, and therefore, drugging him and chaining him up make sense and it’s justifiable, and well…that would be a fair point if not for a very important fact that most people in this fandom forget, and that is that o/ctavia took no issue in bryan helping. bryan, who switched sides at the exact same time as bellamy. bryan, who aided in the massacre alongside bellamy and pike. bryan, who was a part of the same regime that got lincoln, kane and sinclair arrested.
so, it makes zero sense that she is so untrusting of bellamy that she drugs him and chains him up and is never shown, not once, to be untrusting of bryan in any way, shape or form. it’s…one of the many plot holes of s3 and only serves as an excuse to make bellamy the bad guy.
however, even though i hated it, and it didn’t make any sense, i will give o/ctavia this. i would have been fine if that’s all that had happened. this show has a lot of questionable things happening, so i can’t say drugging bellamy and chaining him up would have been the deal breaker for me with o/ctavia, but what she did to him while five other people, including his father figure, just stood there and watched (aside from miller, bless his soul) is the most disgusting thing i have ever seen on tv. it takes a truly sick and twisted person to do what o/ctavia did to her brother, the person who loved and cared and sacrificed for her every day of his fucking life and who would never ever lay a hand on her or defend himself. and it only got worse. because the writers refused to ever talk about the beating again even though bellamy had scars on his face from it for eight fucking episodes (and normally scars do not last that long on this show.) and o/ctavia would not let up with the fucking gaslighting. as a bellamy stan, i remember bellamy’s s4 arc like it was yesterday, and so much of it was influenced by o/ctavia’s abuse in s3 and 4, it’s insane. no…it’s tragic, especially since the culmination of it was o/ctavia (the abuser) forgiving him (the victim).
but to get back to your question. what makes o/ctavia worse than the others? the abuse. there is a huge difference between harming/torturing/killing strangers and abusing your loved ones. o/ctavia is the only character on this show who has consistently abused her loved ones FOR SEASONS and been yet to be called out for it. she was called out for a lot of things in s6 but never the abuse of her loved ones specifically in s3 and 4. it is a HUGE part of her story that is never addressed by the writers. of course other characters have slapped, electrocuted, etc. people that they love, but unlike o/ctavia, these actions are not repeated for seasons. these actions are not followed with gaslighting and emotional abuse that shape the victim’s entire arc like o/ctavia’s gaslighting and emotional abuse shaped bellamy’s arc.
anyway, sorry this got long, and i hope this answers your question. i’m actually really glad you asked me this!! i feel like i have most of my thoughts on this issue all in one place now.

Hey so I known you don't particularly ship bellarke, but what do you think of the bellarke/kabby parallels? I'm only asking because I'm curious to see what the other side of the fandom thinks?
I actually do ship Bellarke! Kabby is my #1 but I’ve always been invested in Clarke and Bellamy’s relationship. I have very strong opinions about Kabby/Bellarke parallels and have talked about this at LENGTH on Meta Station, where @reblogginhood, my co-host and best friend, is a ride-or-die Bellarke shipper, so most of the time I feel like I have dual citizenship through Erin (and vice versa, since the Kabby fandom loves her too). We both love both those ships, and we both love all four of those characters, just in rearranged order, and we like to yell about this a LOT.
I’ve meta’d on this before a number of different times, but I’m too lazy to go back and dig up old posts, so here goes.
First of all, if you are a Bellarke shipper (are you a Bellarke shipper? Am I reading this ask correctly? HELLO FROM THE OTHER SIIIIIIIIIIDE), the most important thing I want to say in aid of positive fandom-to-fandom relations is that the phrase “Kabby/Bellarke parallels” has begun to elicit a knee-jerk primal scream reaction among Kabby shippers over the past few months, since we regularly find the Kabby tag full of posts that either describe Kabby as the “old” version of Bellarke, or that it only exists to pave the way for Bellarke, or that the parallels that exist (and they do exist, and we’ll get to that in a second) essentially make Kane and Abby metaphors instead of people who only exist in the narrative to shed light on Bellarke instead of being their own characters with value and storylines of their own. Articles or blog posts highlighting the things that make Kabby special to Kabby shippers will get reblogged with someone saying “if you change the names, it’s about Bellarke!” or with lengthy meta about how Bellarke had that thing first or that the Kabby version of some particular moment or symbol or metaphor or visual cue or phrase only exists because it will become MORE important later, when it’s attached to Bellarke.
So I’m frustrated because I love this ask, I love getting this question, I love talking about the relationship among these four characters, but also it’s hard - as you can imagine - to feel like we’re told over and over again that the things we feel make our ship, and these two characters, really special to us, don’t really matter on their own merits.
Anyway, I’m saying that both A) so the Kabby fandom, where we are perpetually having this conversation, knows MOM’S ON IT, and B) so that you as a Bellarke shipper who seems delightful and asked a great question has some context for why sometimes other asks or posts about this - which aren’t phrased as nicely as yours was - receive a negative response or make Kabby shippers upset. I think the context is important here, because this has been a BIG thing in our world of late and we’re all a little thin-skinned about it right now.
Okay but that being said LET’S MOVE ON TO THE FUN PART AND TALK ABOUT CHARACTER PARALLELS BECAUSE I LOVE CHARACTER PARALLELS AND I THINK ABOUT THESE ONES ALL THE TIME AND I’M FULL OF OPINIONS AND YOU ASKED FOR THEM SO YOU’RE GONNA GET ‘EM
oh wait I found another post where I already did this STILL GONNA YELL ABOUT IT THOUGH, MY HOUSE MY RULES
Okay so FIRST OF ALL let me just real quick BLOW YOUR MIND with my Kabby/Bellarke parallels theory, which is that the REAL parallel is Abby/Bellamy vs. Clarke/Kane and everyone else has it backwards.
I think the easy, default place most people go to when we talk about this is to contrast Kane and Bellamy - the self-doubting, tortured, wannabe martyrs who carry the weight of every sin on their shoulders well past the point of reason - with Abby and Clarke - the resourceful mother and daughter who never give up and will drag all of humanity kicking and screaming to their salvation if it’s the LAST THING THEY FUCKING DO. And I think there’s a lot of interesting character stuff to be mined there, for sure; I think Kane and Bellamy’s parallel redemption arcs are some of the best stuff they’ve done in the whole series (until 3A Bellamy regressed back to an asshole but let’s skip past that for the moment), illustrating the way that for both of them, the Culling was really a turning point where they realized that they will forever carry the burden of having been complicit in that massive loss of innocent life (Bellamy for throwing away Raven’s radio and Kane for not waiting like Abby asked him to) which could have been prevented if they had listened to the Griffins. It’s beautifully executed, even in S1 when these two characters have never interacted onscreen, and it ramps up even more in S2 where we see them meet and immediately butt heads with each other before in S3 developing a real partnership. (Which then got torn to shreds. I’m still bitter over 3A Kellamy I’M GONNA NEED A HUG IN S4 JASON DO U HEAR ME) (I mean I need Kane to hug Bellamy, not like I’m requesting a hug from Jason, TO BE CLEAR). And I think the mother/daughter parallels are drawn beautifully as well, especially in S1 where we see Abby on the Ark and Clarke on the ground filling similar roles and working towards the same goal, barreling through the opposition however they must.
BUT. If we’re talking about which characters are MOST SIMILAR, then I think you CANNOT get away from the reality that the parallels are actually gender-flipped.
Clarke has a lot of her mom in her, clearly, as well as a lot of her dad. But she’s not actually the kind of leader her mom is. She’s the kind of leader Kane is. Abby and Bellamy are the ones with the crowd charisma and the stubborn recklessness; Clarke and Kane are the cool-headed, deliberate strategic thinkers. Bellamy and Abby have quick minds and no fear and will do absolutely anything, no matter how insane, to protect the people they love. You can map, beat-for-beat, so many of the things Bellamy does for Octavia onto the things Abby does for Clarke, and vice versa. Abby sneaking the kids out the back door with guns in the middle of the night to go find Clarke? Bellamy would do that in a second. Bellamy sneaking onto the dropship to make sure Octavia doesn’t go to earth unprotected? ABBY AF. They both begin the show as people who are fiercely focused on keeping the person they love most safe, and it makes them blind to ancillary consequences. Bellamy will fight anyone. Abby will tell any lie. There is no such thing as too far, when the person you love is at stake. WE know Abby’s hope that the kids are alive is borne out by fact, but NO ONE ELSE ON THE ARK KNOWS THAT. From Kane’s point of view, she’s being as unreasonable and reckless as Clarke thinks Bellamy is when she yells at him about the radio. Or think about Abby sneaking Bellamy and Finn out the back door with guns to go hunt for Clarke, even knowing she would get in trouble for it. You know who else would do THAT EXACT SAME THING in those circumstances? BELLAMY BLAKE. I bet they cooked up that scheme together off-camera. So what I think is interesting for both of them is how their circle expands over the course of three seasons to change the way they are as leaders, and the ways in which their recklessness is tempered by their leadership partners.
I’m fascinated by the relationship between Clarke and Kane, and I hope we get more of it in S4. I heard rumblings that they go together to find Kenza, the Nightblood scout, and I’m hoping we get a lil’ dad/daughter road trip bonding, because I think they have a really strong connection and they share a similar leadership brain. Where Abby and Bellamy are quick and passionate and make snap decisions, Clarke and Kane are more calculating. They’re thinking in the big picture and the longer term. Floating 300 people to save the whole Ark, and irradiating the residents of Mt. Weather to save all the Sky People, are identical decision-making processes; not everyone can live, someone is going to have to die, so how to we map out the most effective path where the fewest of my people die as possible for maximum survival? Whereas there’s nothing Bellamy wouldn’t burn to the ground to save Octavia. Leadership isn’t PERSONAL for Clarke and Kane, not right off the bat. It’s about the numbers. It’s about as many people as possible surviving. And so sometimes you have to let the bomb fall on Tondc, because letting those people die is the only way to give your own people the chance to live, even though Abby “there has to be another way” Griffin finds that notion so appalling she can hardly even recognize her daughter in that moment. But you know who understood it immediately, and didn’t judge her? Kane. Kane and Abby’s scene underground in 2x13 is such a beautiful, crucial moment in their relationship, but it’s also the moment the show really begins to lean in on this idea that Kane can see Clarke more clearly than Abby can, because she’s Abby’s baby girl and Abby is still trying to protect her from harm - including from the harm of having to make, and then face the consequences of, terrible decisions. But Kane is the one who tells Abby not to diminish either Clarke or Lexa’s leadership skills just because they’re young. Kane is the one who calmly talks Clarke down when they’re trying to figure out who poisoned Lexa’s drink, using the same kind of coolheaded, rational language we can easily imagine Clarke using to one of the delinquents if the shoe was on the other foot. And so it makes perfect sense that it would be Clarke and Kane who make the strategic decision, together, that Skaikru joining the Grounder Alliance is the smartest long-term tactical decision - a notion we see that Abby and Bellamy don’t like, because they, emotional thinkers that they are, still haven’t forgiven Lexa or decided they can trust her again.
I’m really interested in where the lines end up getting drawn in S4, but it definitely seems to me, from the bits and pieces we’ve seen and heard, that Clarke has some kind of crazy-ass save-the-world plan that other people think is too reckless or too dangerous or will have too high a casualty rate, and that the group sort of divides itself into factions based on who is willing to get on board and who is resisting (or just giving up and waiting to die). And it does seem, from the trailer, that Kane and Abby are using the same language Clarke is using. We’ve also heard that Bellamy and Clarke are back as a power duo again, so my guess is he’ll be on the squad too. So what I’m really excited about, because we’ve never really had this before, is the four of them working together as a co-leadership team. I want to see Chancellor Kane and Ambassador Clarke negotiating with Roan and Luna. I want Abby and Bellamy working together in Arkadia to convince their people to go along with Clarke’s plan. I want Clarke and Abby to talk about Lexa and Jake, about how you go on with a hole in your heart and how to grieve and heal. I want Kane and Bellamy to talk through all the things that happened in S3, how Bellamy almost got Kane executed because he stopped trusting him, how ALIE made Kane almost murder Bellamy in cold blood, and where they go from here. I want us to see the parallel relationship dynamics - the big-hearted, loving Griffins who are used to giving and receiving affection reaching out to the isolated protector men who are still getting used to the idea that they have a place they belong and people who care about them.
TO CONCLUDE: Abby is Bellamy and Clarke is Kane and they’re a big beautiful leadership power squad family and I love them all with my whole heart THANK U AND GOODNIGHT
