wait so i love the idea of MCD laur being launched into MS season 3. Now i have questions.

Does he end up telling them about being a shadow knight? Or does that… reveal itself (rubbing my hands together menacingly). If so, how does that go down? What’s the reactions? The circumstances? mwahaha

Does he get to visit Cadenza? What’s that like? For that matter, are his dads alive in this universe? (AUGHEUGHEU) Does he ask Cad about them?

Oh now that's an idea...

He 100% would want to keep it on lock down. Even if these alternate versions of his friends are surprisingly chill about him being from another dimension, they even ask him questions about it, there's some stuff he refuses to tell them. Idk where he would start living, maybe with MyS Garrance who knows, but whoever first sees him without a shirt on would no doubt notice the amount of scars across his body. There's a difference between "I come from a dangerous world" and "I have scarring of multiple stab wounds and burn marks that would have easily killed someone."

If anyone tried to ask him about it he would just dodge the question, tell them that it's nothing, just wounds from a battle he's already won. I don't think his calling would fully be able to act up in this other dimension, but it would try to. He'd be hanging out with everyone, getting to know them, and then when he looks over at the now second alternate version of the woman he loves so much, it just happens. In an instant his hands become shaky, his eyes start to cloud over, and all his thoughts are filled with the urge to kill.

And let's remember, at the point he got yoinked out of his original timeline, Laurance has just barely if at all started to come to terms with his condition and what it does to him. He's still in denial about how bad it is because he doesn't want Aphmau to worry or Garroth to distrust him. He doesn't know or understand different symptoms because they just started, and now he's surrounded by people who don't even know what a Shadow Knight is.

I imagine the calling acting up would make Laurance run away, like physically run the fuck away from Lover's Lane with no way to track him because boy has inhuman speed and no phone. The thing that gets him to come back is when they find him hiding in the woods that line the city. And the person who finds him is this dimensions version of Cadenza. The one person who no matter what situation Laurance was in, is able to talk him down.

She's not the same as his sister. When he sees her he can see the difference in them. His sister is a little taller, carries herself differently, and is obviously dressed differently. But her voice sounds so similar, her laugh is the same, and the soft way she talks to a freaking out Laurance is enough to ground him to some sense of reality when he's spiraling. Cadenza was always able to talk Laurance down from a bad decision when they were kids, and now this alternate version of her is able to do the same.

MCD Laur and MyS Cadenza become absolute besties after this. Like forget his budding brotherly relationship with MyS Dante that reflects the same one they had in MCD, he's found someone he can consider family here. He never talks about what happened, just tells everyone it was some warrior instinct that went haywire. What do you mean his eyes sometimes change color when he looks at Aphmau for too long? You're making things up again Travis.

Fun little aside, Laur would 100% tell most of the cast about their counterparts, and Travis would be so upset to learn that he doesn't have one (as far as Laur knows).

And one day Laur goes to Cadenza's house so they can talk and she can figure out a way she can properly dress him. Everyone else lives alone or with another adult roommate, so he doesn't even think to ask about who she lives with. When he knocks on the door, there's nothing that can prepare him for who opens it.

It's Joh.

His dad. His real dad, or the closest thing he had to one. The man who first took him in, and the first person Laurance failed to protect.

Emotions take over logic and he just hugs this man. He doesn't know if Cadenza's informed him of the situation, he doesn't know if he's supposed to pretend to be the other Laurance, and he doesn't care. In a precious moment he's able to hug his father and maybe break down crying while he's hugging him who knows.

I do think Cadenza tried to explain to her dads that the man coming over is an alternate version of Laurance from another dimension. And while Hayden is a sci-fi nerd and can actually wrap his head around the concept, Joh was sort of nodding along for the conversation. He gets that this man looks and acts a lot like his son, but isn't his son. Yet this doppelganger hugs him the exact way his son did when he came home from college, with so much love that it crushes him.

And for Laurance, even if he knows this is no doubt an alternate version of his father, it doesn't matter. It doesn't matter because for just a sweet sweet moment he gets to hug his father and pretend like he didn't completely and utterly fail him. When this now very awkward hug breaks, Laurance has to come to terms with reality, see that this man is indeed different from the one he failed to protect.

But for just a minute... it felt like he was.

Day 12: Is this love?

Aka, a Garrance lore dump!

Garroth was assigned to help Laurance get acquainted with Phoenix Drop during his recovery from the nether. Aph thought it would be good for Laurance to have someone else to talk to aside from her and Zoey, and thought him and Garroth would get along due to their shared guard experience.

Laurance is pretty down during their first few meetings, but he starts to perk up as his health improves, and he grows more trusting of Garroth guiding him through the village. It doesn’t take long for Laurance to start flirting with him, though Garroth writes it off as him just being friendly, even as he’s lowkey reciprocating the advances.

During one of their “totally platonic outings” Laurance opens up about his past: He was born in O’Khasis, and had no memories of his birth parents because they were arrested when he was a baby. He spent a few years in an O’Khasis orphanage, but quickly transitioned to living on the streets, experiencing first-hand the struggles and cruelty O’Khasis hid from the rest of the region. It’s why he’s so slow to trust; after having no one to rely on but himself for so many years, it’s difficult to be so reliant on others while he adjusts to blindness.

Garroth, while not revealing everything (for obvious reasons), also opens up; he had run away from home because he didn’t like the person his family was pushing him to be, and he’s still struggling to be his own person.

When Garroth drops him back off at his home, Laurance kisses him on the cheek before going inside.

Garroth.exe has stopped working.

Garroth avoids Laurance the next few days. He feels awful about it, but he can’t pin down how he’s feeling, and he feels talking to Laurance would just make it more confusing. Eventually, he gets frustrated enough to go and talk with Aphra:

G: I need to ask you a question.

A: Sure? Go for it.

G: Hypothetically, if someone kissed you, and afterwards you felt like you were gonna throw up, what does that mean?

A: …like throw up from disgust, anxiety, or butterflies?

Garroth shrugs.

A: Irene help us. Come inside.

It takes a long conversation with some input from Zoey (Aroace Aph is somewhat limited in the advice she can give), but they eventually get to the root of the issue:

G: I didn’t have a say in anything growing up. Everyone just told me what to do, told me what I wanted, and I went along with it. I thought I was finally getting better, but it’s like I’m still waiting for an approval that doesn’t exist anymore! I’m so confused, I can’t even tell what I want.

A: Well, that might be a good thing to tell Laurance. It’s okay to be confused, but it’s not okay to just ignore him while you work through this. You should let him know how you’re feeling, even if you’re not sure the feelings match.

Garroth goes home to think a bit more before leaving to find Laurance. When he opens his door, Laurance is already standing there, about to knock.

L: I just wanted to say sorry for the other day. I feel like I crossed a boundary, I should have asked before trying that.

He talks faster, clearly flustered.

L: I thought we were on the same page, but I guess I’ve never done this without being able to see so maybe I misjudged how comfortable you were, and either way I’ve really liked talking to you and I don’t want things to be awkward so if you just want to pretend it never happened I’d be fine with that-

…

G: Please? For real? I need to know.

Ok so when everyone is on the Cannon after Zane and Lucinda help out Garroth and Katelyn (Laurance wanted to stay behind with Zane and Luci but Kim needed him for extra backup and extra medical help just incase), they all gather in the main room. Laurance and Garroth immediately beeline to each other and embrace in a very tight hug. Both of them are sobbing their eyes out and Garroth is apologizing profusely for all the trouble he caused for them while Laurance reassures him that he knows it wasn’t his fault, does Garroth blame him for what happened at the lodge? Of course not, Garroth exclaims. They wrap up their reunion once Toby walks in and points his rifle at Aaron.

After Aphmau and Travis beat the shit out of each other, Laurance helps to carry Nana and escort Zane with Vylad to the helicopter as Rowan gives him directions and they don’t have much time to talk before they run out of room and have to take off without Dante, Lucinda, Aaron, Aphmau, or Kim. Once they meet back up, Garroth and Laurance don’t leave each other’s side very much. They are both very worried about their hospitalized friends and find comfort in the other’s company. Eventually Garroth opens up to Laurance and long story short it’s angsty as hell and they both end up trauma dumping and crying, their bond is really fucking strong afterwards.

I may retcon some of this once i figure everyone’s roles out and fix some of the ultima stuff lol

Things I Have Noticed/Remembered from my MCDiaries rewatch

I will be updating this as I continue my rewatch, currently everything listed is out of order, cause I've started writing this as I am on episode 64 of season 1 and I don't feel like fixing it to be in order, so sorry!

What the fuck was Garroth's "plan" he mentions to Zenix in the first episode 😭

Zenix seems to be younger then Garroth in Diaries, considering the way that Garroth talks about him, but I think in MyStreet, Zenix is either the same age or slightly older then Garroth, so far this is like, the only obvious age difference between the series (besides Travis and everyone else of course)

I forgot how entertaining Brendan's character is, he's far less annoying then I remembered

ZANE AS AN ACTUAL BAD PERSON, I LOVE HIM

I love Vylad, but I legit forgot how much he was in Diaries season 1, I thought he was in it far less

Currently at the stage of Diaries where there is no lgbt+ people, i'm very disappointed by this (we haven't even reached the queerbaiting)

KC's character is....not as bad (racist) as I was expecting, still not great though. I'm choosing to believe that KC is from Tu'lu and Maid Cafes are a thing there, and "Kawaii~Chan" is just a stage name for her work.

Y'all know how Cadenza went missing and she was actually turned into a chicken? Yeah, the way Hayden, Castor, & Laurance talk about her to Aphmau makes it sound like Cadenza is a small child. But then it turns out she's the same age, if not older, then Laurance and Aphmau.

Aphmau should've just made Joh and Hayden lovers, I'm so serious, it would make the whole Cadenza and Laurance being "close like siblings" in season 1 to I think actually being called as siblings in season 2 and in MyStreet a lot easier to understand and make a lot more sense.

Why does Kenmur have like, some sort of romance with all the girls from Meteli??? He was engaged to Sasha and is stated to have feelings for Cadenza.

I love when the episodes open from Sasha's POV, and she goes and talks to Gene and there's just no voices. I love having to pause to read what they're saying. (this point is sarcasm)

The way literally everyone reacted to learning Laurance was blind was....icky. Like, I understand Cadenza and Aphmau reacting as like "we need to find a way to bring his sight back", but the fact that it was literally EVERYONE who decided he needed to get his sight back was so weird.

I don't mind Laurance ACTUALLY getting his sight back, but I wish it was done differently. Like, personally, I'd have him like, have to wash his face with the water of the fountain of Lady Irene.

Emma & Corey, Dale & Molly, and Logan & Donna are very sweet couples.

After Zoey and KC were able to turn Cadenza back to her human form, Zoey mentions that she "recognizes Cadenza from somewhere", but I don't think this goes anywhere???? I'm assuming it was supposed to hint at like, Cadenza's backstory.

ngl, I kinda wish we got more of Zane and Kiki's relationship, I really wanna know what side of Zane Kiki actually saw.

Anyway, Kiki is currently expecting.

Nicole (my beloved) has showed up. I've decided I won't question the logic behind her iron fists being able to break bedrock, and instead say that her referencing her iron fists just made me think of Ace from One Piece and Natsu & Gajeel from Fairy Tail.

I COMPLETELY FORGOT ABOUT NICOLE'S FOX, ROXY, AND ABOUT THE WYVERNS IN GENERAL 😭

I need to mention that in one episode (before Aphmau went to Scaleswind and learned about Lady Irene), Garroth says to Aphmau "by the seven", which I think she was hurt, but the use of "by the seven" is similar to how the same phase would be used in Game of Thrones or to how irl lots of people say "oh my god", so I'm really wondering if there were originally supposed to be 7 Divine Warriors instead of 6.

The way when Aphmau found Levin and decided to keep him and Garroth IMMEDIATLY decided he would be Levin's father figure.

The way when Laurance found out that Aphmau had a kid, his response was to play with Levin and say to Aphmau "you didn't tell me you had this little buddle of joy/energy".

aaron lycan is a pathetic sad man in my rewrite and here is why.

in my rewrite i try to keep things as close to the original as possible unless i dont want to. aka aphmau and aaron being in love, aka aphmau being asexual demiro, aka garrance is happening— im getting off track here.

the point is for aaron, he’s still going to lose his village- but my goal was to make it more elaborate, to fit the timeline, make it make sense and also, i wanted it to really affect him while also keeping it to a similar personality.

in my rewrite, aaron basically had everything he wanted as he grew up, ofc he had a semi-absent father who seemed to care more about his work as the lord of falcon claw than his own family, still he had his sister and his mother growing up. (not saying that it doesn’t affect him bc it does. aaron’s got daddy issues.)

he grew up knowing he was going to be the next lord since his sister wanted to be an adventurer. he married a lovely woman and they had a kid. his father left his position and aaron became lord.

so basically he’s living a little happy sorta secluded life with his happy little family. and then the zane thing happens (that i also have a rewrite for bc the whole amulet thing happened for no reason in the actual series).

aaron lost his basically almost perfect life overnight. you think any person would be the calm wall-leaning abs-showing, wearing clothes from a different era cool guy that the series has??? NO.

and before u tell me “but dei aaron met aphmau years after, he must’ve calmed down by then!”

the man is wanted by law enforcement, he’s outcasted because everyone thinks he killed everyone in his village! and frankly, he’s 100% convinced himself that he did actually kill them. he’s been alone ever since and the only thing keeping him alive is revenge. do you think, that he isnt going to be mentally ill? i assure you that man is one hair away from swinging his massive fucking sword into the next person who walks in front of him.

and now im going to talk about the way he presents himself. he keeps this calm cool hot guy look i think for everyone. in my mind, aaron is the kind of guy that dislikes losing control of a situation, his life was always in control. he knew where his life was going to go before the tragic event, and that brought him security. i wouldn’t be shocked if he’s still clinging onto control being his only security. he always manages to keep control of his emotions and his image, however when he loses that grip he loses it.

i have a scene in my head of when aphmau comes across the falconclaw ruins and when aaron finds her there, he almost fucking loses it. why is she here? who said she can be there sneaking around? this is his town and no one is allowed to step foot and now she’s standing near the grave of her wife and son? how dare she?

he literally has half the mind to kill her, but thankfully my rewrite aphmau is feral.

• ok that’s not a bad thing

• WHERE IS LAURANCE. He had no reason to just disappear like that where did he go :(

(side note: I’m pretty sure that Jess was hospitalized during this time, so a lot of characters were cut out and the script was made shorter. so I think that’s why a few characters were scrapped.)

• isn’t llp supposed to be ‘sold out since forever’?? how do Aaron and Dante somehow win tickets FOR EVERYONE just by kissing?? ok sometimes shows or contests give free tickets...but only like one or two. Aphmau literally drags the whole street there

• in my opinion it is IMPOSSIBLE for a whole street’s worth of people to pack their stuff, grab essentials, drive to the airport, check in and get on the plane IN AN HOUR. especially considering that mystreet is the most chaotic street in existence

• why do all the boys swim shorts have the same damn pattern hello originality??

• DAMN TRAVIS GETS UP TO SOME FREAKY SHIT WHEN THE OTHERS ARENT HOME. he literally hires people to impersonate his friends and monologues as katelyn and I’m not even going to repeat those lines here they are CURSED😳😳 where did he even get Katelyn’s clothes from??

• how does the mys gang take Zane, who (im pretty sure) wasn’t even in the house where Garroth and Dante were when Dante broke down the door, but forget to take Travis, who literally lives IN THEIR BASEMENT IN THE SAME HOUSE. for the record HOW DO THEY FORGET LAURANCE. this makes no sense (I don’t really remember this part well so if zane is actually there then ignore me :) thanks)

• garroth saying ahoy matey kills me every time

• I feel like lucinda really got shoved to the side in this season. she barely has any relevant lines that aren’t just filler

• ok there’s a gay couple here it’s Guy and Nate. but isn’t this way of representing them heavily stereotyped?? a twink and a buff guy. Seems like a stereotype to me and I don’t like it because of that

• also arent ivy and teony supposed to be lesbian?? this would have been nice...IF WE ACTUALLY GOT TO SEE THEM ASIDE FROM LIKE TWO EPISODES. • HOW TF DO ZANE’S PANTS EVEN FALL DOWN?? he legit goes down a baby water slide and boom theyre gone. Aphmau doesn’t lose her clothes while going down a roller caster water slide that GOES INTO THE SEA so HOW DOES HE?? If they were that loose they would’ve fallen off while he was walking. which they didn’t. Also doesn’t water make your clothes stick to your skin and not the other way around? Ya hello can someone please explain

The next four points are not actually bad things i found them funny in a stupid way but also how tf did they even happen:

• I’m not even going to BOTHER deciphering the physics behind Travis setting the house on fire, having said fire coming into contact with explosive feathers, and yeeting him thousands of miles away into llp

• no seriously how is he still alive

• and why is he allowed to stay?? isn’t this place sold out since forever??

• wow celeste has the power to swim thousands of miles away to llp as well seriously what does she eat??

• doesnt Katelyn throw Travis off a roof some time in this season, or was it s1? Either way that’s not cool

• the talk between Travis and katelyn was very much needed. I’m very glad it was written in but feel as though it could have been written a bit better. also Katelyn doesn’t even realize what shes doing isn’t ok till here in canon which I don’t like because it makes her seem ignorant or airheaded and I know she isn’t like that. she’s better than that. she should have been at least a bit aware of it since s1

• AND THIS WHOLE TALK WAS SHOVED ASIDE BCUZ AARON HAD TO ASK APH TO LIVE WITH HIM. am I the only one that feels this way? which is more important in your opinion?? there was nothing inherently wrong with this scene but the fact that THIS had more importance than the travlyn talk really upset me

I personally think Laurance would've survived. It'd be hard for him to have a convincing death (and stay permanent) and not feel like a copout.

The whole Leona plot line feels superfluous, but if Leona's father was Zane that would impact other surrounding characters like Garroth where that would make him an uncle, or that everyone has to uh... deal with the implications of this plot line.

Irene being a complicated person where she does bad to horrible things would be good if we got any insight into her character that wasn't in regards to her dating life. (honestly the divine warriors as a whole are wasted)

He was probably justifiably angry when it began. Especially if the Irene killing their daughter is true. But now he is just an evil dude as far as the series lore.

Humans with magical powers, and later thanks to the relic humans who are god like.

No. He'd be dead by the end.

I personally don't consider Zane redeemable, he has killed a lot of people just as high priest alone. Made no effort to be a better person or be helpful against Shad. He might live but be under surveillance of some kind.

Connecting MCD and Mystreet was a terrible idea, and I firmly stand by that.

I think Zenix would live. Honestly the fact that we never got any interaction between him and Garroth was such a waste.

Jeffory coming back would be cool. That could give Katelyn and Abby something.

I think the SKs would lose a chuck of their power with Shad defeated, but they would live.

Garrance.

MCD has a way too big cast as is. I can't really even define who's Major and who's Minor if their not Aphmau, Garroth, Laurance, Katelyn, Travis. Even still Katelyn has little to do in series and Garroth and Laurance have all of their screen time dedicated to the love triangle that while a subplot is the least interesting plot they have.

The brothers all had a once loving relationship that quickly grew bitter after Garte's sickness. While Garroth was effectively an older brother who raised Vylad when Zianna couldn't, and they never resented each other. Zane resents them both.

He's alive, and honestly there so much that could be done, it'd be a waste if wasn't ever seen mostly for the members of his family. Like, okay, past S2 with Garroth, Vylad, and Zianna all reunited it would have been interesting to see them all have to reconcile with all that happened and learn how to be a family again after so many years and so many awful things. With Garte, everything that was bad in one way or another comes back to him. Zianna might wish to separate from him. Or Garroth punching him.

S3 was terrible all around, Kenmur dying felt anti-climatic, I didn't feel anything. Honestly S3 belongs in the trash.

I do not care for it. I wish that mystreet had it's own cast away from MCD, due to it. It's probably the biggest reason I hate mystreet.

I really wish that that was brought up again in some way.

I dread Jess' rewrite as it's going to take directions I will hate, and will sour my remaining love for MCD. Apart of me wants it to continue but I can't say I'd like it. I would only want to know what happens S3 to the end, just so I could really sit down develop and finish my own rewrite. Because without the ending in mind I have trouble with the finer details and making the bigger more necessary changes earlier on. Like I know what I would do with S1, S2, and some of S3 (throw most of it out in this last case). But beyond that like...

I don’t think the irene thing was unavoidable but I do think it would need a complex solution. My garrance idea was a simple solution, y’know one argument and they realize ‘oh hey wait a minute. Something’s not right here.’

Garroth’s reasoning for joining Zane is that he believes the people he puts so much of himself into don’t trust him anymore. Zane and Lillian emotionally manipulate him into thinking this. Except I think that this should’ve been their undoing. Zane and Lillian do not care about Aphmau or Laurence the way Garroth does, nor do they know either of them so intimately. They wouldn’t worry on any of the little things.

That should’ve been what screwed them, because not everyone shows their trust through major gestures. So, maybe Garroth still has a few doubts, not big ones, not enough to destabilize him without outside influence. But they’re all telling him that maybe Zane and Lillian are wrong about them. And then something happens, like Laurence coming to him after a night terror about the nether. To Zane/Lillian, that’s nothing. That’s Laurence acting like a child.

Except Garroth would know exactly what Laurence wants after one of those: safety. He would want to be around someone who made him feel safe, who wouldn’t make him tell them what he saw but would listen if he felt the need to. Someone he could trust to protect him.

No, that one thing wouldn’t be enough to fully switch Garroth, but it would still feed the doubts holding him back. What I think would fully turn him against Zane and Lillian is when they try to go a few steps too far, and go from just trying to convince him they don’t trust him to making him think they don’t care about him at all. It’s not as slow and methodical as the first time, because now they think they’ve got Garroth ensnared. They think that there’s no way he’ll turn against them, now all they need to do is get rid of his hesitation over harming then. Except they were wrong. Garroth wasn’t fully convinced they were right, and now that sudden change in words, without the evidence they had last time? Zane is up to his old manipulative tricks. He’s lying like he always does.

yeah garroth simply felt betrayed. he wasn’t exactly angry just in emotional pain and once he realised zane was involved with lillian he really should’ve put two and two together as zane doesn’t care for him the same way that laurence and aphmau do

Garrance Headcanons/Ideas

Help I'm falling down the rabbit hole

-Laurance and Garroth are a perfect example of the one who's been in love for three years and the one who fell hard and fast. Laurance started developing a crush on Garroth when they were in training and it slowly blossomed into deeper feelings when they found one another again. Garroth has fallen in love twice and when it happened with Laurance he had literally no fucking clue what to do.

-Laurance first fell in love with Garroth when he saw how passionate Garroth is about what he does. Garroth is lecturing some other trainees that are in their class about respect and honor and he looks so stern and upset when he does it. He wants to be taken so seriously and be a pillar for others to rely on at all times, and Laurance just thinks he's a total dork. Because he is. And Laurance loves that about him.

-When they're alone and actually comfortable being intimate with one another Laurance is really wordy, flowery and poetic in his musings about Garroth, faith, life, whatever he can go on about. Garroth is useless. All he can do is sit there flustered and stare at his not boyfriends beautiful eyes.

-The first time they showed real physical intimacy is after Laurance wakes up screaming from a Shadow Knight related nightmare. As always, he wants to keep it under wraps, but he woke up Garroth who will not leave him alone until Laurance explains himself. It's not the first time he's heard Laurance wake up from a nightmare, but the first time he's sounded actually in pain. He can't stand the sound.

-Upon hearing what Laurance was dealing with, Garroth sits next to him, puts an arm around him, and simply whispers the words "I'm here to protect you." And Laurance fucking breaks. He starts uncontrollably sobbing into Garroth's arms and he can't stop. This is the moment when Garroth realized he fell in love again. When he realizes he would do literally anything to keep Laurance safe and happy. Not because they're fellow guards, but because he loves him.

-They don't get many moments alone, so they dearly treasure the ones they do get. And even when around others, Garroth can't help but catch a glimpse of Laurance's smile and it makes his whole day brighter. Laurance gets to see how seriously Garroth takes his job and can't help but be in love with every aspect of him. They are so desperately and helplessly in love with one another and so terrible at expressing it.

-When Garroth betrays everyone at the end of Season 1, Laurance is completely fucking destroyed. He feels utterly betrayed that Garroth thinks he would go behind his back for Aphmau because Laurance is the one out of the three of them who recognizes the "has two hands" mentality. In his mind, there's a possibility they could all be happy together. He perhaps selfishly thinks he can have both of the loves of his life love him back. But Garroth thinks he doesn't care about his feelings and only cares about Aphmau. Laurance can't even bear the thought that Garroth doesn't trust him after everything they've said to one another. After everything they've been through together.

-And then he has to leave Garroth behind!! Just as Garroth comes to terms with his own feelings in the Irene Dimension, he realizes that Laurance loves him just as much as he loves Laurance. He realizes he was an idiot for ever assuming Laurance would intentionally hurt him. He glances behind him and mouths the words "I love you." Laurance is sure he meant it for Aphmau, but Garroth looks right into his eyes as he says it. It's the first time either one said I love you to the other.

-Laurance is flung fifteen years into the future and the first thought he has upon returning home is a crushingly empty feeling in his chest. He can't even comprehend where he is or what has happened because his heart aches at the memory of Garroth in that moment. He begins to mourn a man who isn't even dead yet. He mourns the love of his life who was just returned to him. Like he's so used to doing, Laurance mourns.

im gonna be totally straight and honest, it wasn't the dislike of Garrance, it was the specific things they were saying.

I didn't state my own opinion on the ask, other than kinda using it to say i like the 'brothers in arms' ship trope (though im not really big on garrance. it's... okay... but outside of the context of the polycule it's not something i care about and i do get frustrated with the fandom fixation on it sometimes)

But the thing is, unfortunately the 'brothers in arms' thing is used way too much by homophobes and puritans to dismiss ships that whenever someone does use that to dismiss a ship, people can get defensive. Even when someone has perfectly pure and fine intentions, it just rubs a lot of people the very wrong way.

the fact they used the word 'ick' probably didn't help, just because it kind of has... connotations. And i'm sure they were totally innocent, but you have to understand that these things don't exist in a total vacuum, there is context to certain phrases and people will react according to how these have been used against them in the past.

but, honestly i don't have a problem with anything anon said, but i do think it was just a case of them using a few phrases and reasonings that just tend to feel a little tone deaf when put together, even when done entirely innocently. This stuff happens sometimes, especially when it comes to niche shipping tropes, and i think people just find the 'brothers in arms' argument a bit tired or comedic since no one can ever escape it as the sole justification for why their faves aren't kissing.

I think that dynamic is a reasonable one to perceive for Gar and Laur, a good one, even, but i think it's just a case of unfortunate wording, and some sensitivity, nothing to get twisted up in knots over shipping wars about.

MCD Season 2 Garrance Headcanons because I am experiencing literal brain rot

-Laurance doesn't want anyone to notice or worry about him as usual, so he keeps it to himself how much he misses Garroth. Everyone misses Garroth, why does he have to be special? Well, Laurance, not everyone else wakes up in a cold sweat in the middle of the night and falls back into bed in a fit of tears because he isn't there to comfort them. Just an idea.

-Garroth got really good at noticing when Laurance wasn't sleeping well and forcing him to get extra rest if he needs it. Nobody pays as much attention to Laurance or his physical health. Nobody realizes how little he's sleeping until it's staring them in the face.

-That's not entirely true. Travis notices. Travis can tell from the moment he meets Laurance that the poor boy is carrying so much and as far as he can tell, nobody cares. Everyone is so preoccupied with whatever adventure is going on that nobody's slowed down to check in on Laurance. Normally Garroth would do that.

-And even when Travis tries to get past his walls, Laurance has only regressed. The man he trusted with his life is trapped in another dimension after thinking he didn't care about him, and the calling only gets louder every day. How can Laurance open his heart again when all it seems to do is put the people he cares about in direct danger? He tries not to be aggressive, but he's not very good at that. He's so angry at Garroth but also misses him bitterly and nothing makes any sense to him.

-Garroth thinks of Laurance while fighting Zane. Whenever Aphmau comes to visit he asks her about him, how he's doing, and he's increasingly frustrated when Aphmau is vague with her answers. He can't tell if it's because she doesn't want Garroth to worry, or worse, she doesn't actually check on Laurance like he needs.

-When Garroth comes back he has exactly three thoughts on his mind. "Thank Irene I'm alive. Thank Irene Aphmau is alive. Where is Laurance?" When Laurance isn't there, he's filled with a similar emptiness that Laurance experienced. He's never felt so cold. As if it's wrong not to hold Laurance in this moment.

-When Garroth realizes pretty quickly that Aphmau has suddenly moved on, he wants more than ever to have Laurance back to him. To have someone who's already gone through this be there to help console his broken heart. More than anything he just needs to see Laurance's face. To know he's alive.

-Like hold on I can't even gloss over this, Garroth comes back and it is another ten fucking episodes before Laurance shows up. All that time Garroth spent knowing that Laurance was at least alive, but he was suffering. His own brother barely stuck around because he was so worried about how unstable Laurance was. Even if he learned about the time rules of the Irene Dimension, it's still been like 15 and a half minutes for Garroth and suddenly everything is somehow even worse than when he fucked it all up.

-Aphmau is grieving a man who died for Garroth, Laurance is gone, Phoenix Drop is barely what it was before, his friends have been having lives without him, and all of this is Garroth's fault. If he hadn't been so foolish as to fall for Zane's deception, none of this would have happened. He tells himself this a lot. Some part of his mind can hear a fabrication of Laurance's voice trying to tell him that's not true, but it doesn't do a lot to console him.

-AND THE FIRST TIME HE SEES LAURANCE HE NEARLY HAS TO KILL HIM!! I'M SO SORRY BUT I CAN'T BE NORMAL ABOUT THIS! I just know Garroth was shaking when he saw Laurance because every part of his body is fighting him. This relic he hasn't gained control of just activated and is fully trying to protect Aphmau, ready to slay any enemy in his way. But when Garroth looks forward he wants to let out a sigh of relief and get to hug his best friend. He can't hurt him. But he also has to. It's so awful like I'm actually so mad about this scene and the fact that it seems to barely matter in the long term.

-And for Laurance?? He disappeared right as Aaron died, he knew what happened when he heard the explosion. Everyone was looking for the divine fragment, and he knew what the breaking of realm barriers sounded like. He knew it so well he couldn't even fight his shadow knight form. And just as he's about to reach the crater, he can hear Aphmau scream. Laurance knows he won't be able to hold back, so he has to run from her.

-When he sees Garroth again while trying to kill "Zane", there's a similar split in his mind. The calling is stronger than most of his emotions, he needs to feed it in order to silence it. But then Garroth is there. His best friend. One of the people Laurance cares about most. Then he's grateful the calling latched onto Aphmau. If he hadn't been her guard, it would have been Garroth. He's never felt more bittersweet seeing Garroth's big boy serious face stare him down.

-When things finally calm down, when they finally get a moment alone, Laurance is completely silent. His once endless musings about all the things he finds beautiful are gone. He just sits there in silence glaring at Garroth. He doesn't know if he can trust himself to open up again. What if the calling took over and he couldn't fight it? No reason to make Garroth attached to him and unable to take him down in an emergency.

-Garroth really honest to Irene wants to help Laurance so much but he doesn't fucking know what to do. He feels completely lost on how to get through to his old friend, and even if he asks the same questions once eagerly answered by Laurance, all he gets is silence. He hates how quiet Laurance is.

-The day that Laurance leaves is the first time Garroth has cried since he thought Laurance betrayed him. He's so good at keeping it together that even after the time travel, having his life threatened, learning what's become of this world and his family, learning that Aphmau moved on, he never cried. When Laurance leaves without saying it back, or even so much as a goodbye, Garroth finally breaks, sobbing as he clutches Laurance's scarf to his chest, weeping as his body curls in at the memory of Laurance's arms wrapped around him. Now it is Garroth's turn to mourn.

STUFF I DIDNT LIKE IN MYSTREET S1:

• This is probably the only season where Aphmau does not act like a literal child so props for that

• Also I liked the ‘Don’t tell mom!’ episode cuz Ro’meave supremacy

• k I’m gonna stop telling the boring stuff here’s the actual start

• Ok so at this point mystreet was basically a sandbox roleplay of mcd characters in a modern day setting which is NOT A BAD THING but it did lead to a lot of mcd references, whether it was Garroth and Laurance changing into their mcd forms or Zane somehow brandishing his sword from thin air. Again, NOT A BAD THING but it did make it a bit weird especially after the whole ‘mcd and mys are related‘ plotline s4 onwards

• Dante should not have had a crush on Aphmau like no hate if you ship it but the way canon dealt with it he never stood a chance. once again no hate :)

• Aarmau was a bit rushed in my opinion, tho it isn’t so evident. but the fact that Aph just unquestioningly gets closer to Aaron doesn’t sit right with me. just like mcd s1 it feels like she’s just going off a script, which she technically is but it isn’t supposed to be that evident. I would’ve liked Aphmau to question her relationship, tell aaron that she needed time or to take it slowly. They couldve still gotten together at the end of the season with a much better narrative. I dont exactly focus on ships involving aphmau that much but even I can appreciate some well written slowburn. which this was not. let’s not get into the age gap in pdh THAT WAS NOT OK but I’ll elaborate on it in a separate post otherwise I’ll just keep ranting about it here

• Garrance literally kiss on screen and nothing happens?? I don’t exactly remember what happened after it cuz I haven’t rewatched in a while but I’m pretty sure that they just went back to normal :/ (correct me if I’m wrong tho!!) is this queerbait? can I call this queerbait?? can we not have queerbait please?

• IM SORRY WHAT WAS KC’S CHARACTER. She was so nice in mcd. she worked well as a side character and her writing was done well in my opinion. WHAT HAPPENED HERE. This girl is literally a walking aarmau advertisement. I get it you wanted to promote the main ship but at least don’t ruin her character for it. I don’t really like her mys version for this reason and I prefer to use my hc version (tho this goes for all characters) Please give this girl some actual character development. by the end of this season all we know about her is that her name is kawaii~chan, she likes pink, she loves ships, yay aarmau is sailing, don’t get in the way of kawaii~chan’s ship!! Name ANYTHING ELSE THAT WE KNOW ABOUT HER LITERALLY ANYTHING ELSE

• I really don’t like how some potentially triggering and more serious themes were joked about here. You can make it a comedy show without making serious topics funny. Travis makes perverted comments that I feel really border on sexual harassment at times, Katelyn keeps punching Travis every time he speaks and if that isn’t anger issues idk what is, Garroth and Laurance literally stalk Aphmau multiple times when she’s out with Aaron and KC has a goddamn aarmau shrine in her basement. The first time I watched it, it slipped past me but the second time I really looked at it and said why do we need THIS to make a show funny. • The story of Zane becoming Aphmau‘s friend was literally him taking a cat version of her home on Christmas and tearing up when she (somehow??) gave him her sweater. what was he even going to do with a cat-sized sweater?? How was THAT the good deed that turned her back into a human?? How was it going to help him?? I get that magic exists in this world and this incident can definitely be a part of their friendship story...but don’t make it the ONLY part of their story. youre telling me that THIS is the reason he’s willing to turn himself into a relic in s6 amidst all the blood and death and chaos??

• STOP BABYING ZANE HE‘S A GROWN MAN. I HATE it when Aph keeps cooing at him in a baby voice, especially since I hc him as autistic. the way he’s written really makes me feel that he is autistic and this ruins it

• once it’s revealed that Zane likes mlh, most of his screen time is just focused on that. He has other aspects of his character too which are never really shown and this makes him so one-dimensional which is ironically the same problem his MCD counterpart had. GIVE HIM DEVELOPMENT PLS

• Lucinda is like the ONLY character who has their shit together. good for you girl <3

• WHERE DID JEFFORY GO?? I really liked his character and we never see him after s1...in fact we barely see him IN s1. he keeps zooming in and out and then he just...stays out forever. for the record, WHERE DID BRENDAN GO?? He was like in three episodes and then he just dipped MORE MINOR CHARACTER REPRESENTATION PLS

• MORE VYLAD PLS. I get it he’s traveling the world but Aphmau is literally god so don’t say that it’s not doable

• Showing Katelyn actually recognizing her anger issues would’ve been great, and maybe joining therapy or taking a group lesson or even doing meditation would’ve been such a great development to her character and would’ve paved the way for much healthier interactions in s2. she would not have been able to fix them completely since these things don’t just go away in one day, so the s2 talk between her and Travis would still happen but it would better in my opinion (and I’ll elaborate more on this when I do a rant for s2)

• Can we have more nb and lgbtq+ representation in general?? this point is gonna be in every rant I make istg it needs to be said.

but a lot of ppl are the same when it comes to aroacemau. they dont treat aphmau as her own individual and treat her as only connected to another person

her only crime was liking deku and since she did that she was suddenly viciously attacked by all sides. she was demonized and called annoying or stupid and some people made her HOMOPHOBIC??? because oh my god clutching pearls this 14 year old is crushing on a boy sound the fucking alarms!

Sometimes I wonder if aroacemau is a vaguely popular headcanon for reasons similar to Christine Canigula from Be More Chill (those reasons being shipping two boys together, one of which being her boyfriend (and in Aphmau’s case them being her love interests) but liking her enough/her being too important to demonize/erase her)
