you move into a new neighborhood on your 24th birthday.
it's a quaint house, fully furnished with wooden panels lining its contemporary build. you consider yourself lucky for finding a place this well-kept at the price point you offered. you're honestly surprised that suguru, your now landlord, accepted your application.
the area sits a few kilometers on the outskirts of the city, but it feels neither too quiet nor too busy; a perfect balance with an impressive view of the rising sun this early in the morning. that, and the people seem friendly, greeting you as they pass by. they even offer to help you haul things out of your car and into the house.
to the right of your house is one that holds the same design elements at yours, although a bit darker in its tones. it's sleek and modern, befitting of a bachelor.
"you must be the new tenant," a voice speaks from behind you, syrupy and smooth. you didn't even hear his footsteps.
when you turn around, you're met with a tall man who greets you with his arms held behind his back as he tilts his head low. there's a calmness that radiates off him, a sort of gentleness that signals he’s someone you can trust.
you nod, introducing yourself with your hand outstretched towards him.
"suguru," he replies as his fingers grab yours delicately. your eyes widen in surprise, recognizing the name, and he merely chuckles in return, a soft laugh that brings out kindness in his eyes.
"i should greet you properly," he lets go of your hand, placing it back behind him. "hello, new neighbor."

over shared breakfasts by your porch and impromptu dinners over at his, you grow a liking to suguru. he's polite and thoughtful, often knocking at your door in the mornings to offer you a cup of tea to watch the sunrise.
"you'll only find sunrises like this here," he leans back on the wooden chair you set out as outdoor furniture. his head tilts towards you slightly, impossibly close as you notice the corner of his lips curl up into a small grin.
hues of pinks, purples, and orange blend to illuminate his face perfectly. the sun is beautiful in front you, peeking between clouds as it inches away from the horizon, but something about him is infinitely more magnetic. your stare is immediately drawn to his lips, smooth and supple, before it meets his gaze.
you don't know what's worse―wanting to lean in or be pulled by the look in his eyes.
he fixes things that break in your home, always somehow knowing just when to show up. at first, it was your windows, the one by the attic, too high and dangerous for you to climb; then, it was your kitchen sink, its pipes regurgitating the water going down the drain. he's begun to bring you your groceries too, often asking for a list of what you need when he makes trips out of town.
your days blur easily when you're with suguru, and time passes almost fleetingly as you find your hours filled with soft laughs and touches so delicate you sometimes wonder whether they're real.
it should be noted, you think, how much time has passed since you first met him―an anniversary of some sort.

you learn that he owns both houses―his and the one you're currently renting. it once belonged to a friend who had to move for bigger, greater responsibilities elsewhere, he'd said.
"why did you decide on renting?" you ask him one night, over wine and candlelight.
your fingers fiddle with his as he sits you on his lap, this thing between you growing more intimate lately. he rubs his thumb along your thigh, resting his chin by your shoulder.
"you could have sold it or something."
he presses his lips gently on your collarbone.
"i could've," his fingers trail up to your waist, crossing your chest before landing on your chin, cupping it lightly to face him. your heart is hammering in your chest, senses on fire as his nose kisses yours. you think you can count every mole that dots his face beautiful. then, he inches closer, lips grazing yours as he whispers, "but i was waiting for you."

you mark each day at sunrise.
your digital clocks and calendars stopped working after some time, but you don't mind. suguru always tells you what date it is when you ask.
this morning, you wake up in his bed, and the sun is still as breathtaking as you remember it, the same pink, purple, and orange hues streaming through his window. when you look closely, the clouds―
"good morning," he brings you tea in bed, his hair topped off with a bun, a half-up-half-down.
your stomach fills itself with something warm and fuzzy as you smile at him, "morning."
"slept well?" his hand reaches for your waist under the duvet, and you giggle, ticklish.
"very," you crane your neck to land a soft kiss on his lips. "what date is it today?"
"october 28," he supplies.
your eyebrows shoot up as you realize, "i have to bring my car to the mechanic."
it's been 6 months now since your last check, right before you moved, and though you barely use your car anyway, it's best to be safe.
you quickly move to get up but suguru's hand keeps you in place, firmly pressed on your waist.
"i'll do it," he says with a smile on his face, "you rest here."

you barely see your other neighbors except for the girl who smokes a pack of cigarettes a day and the twins down the street.
when you ask suguru about it, he dismisses the question quickly, saying, "must have moved," as he urges you to take another sip of your tea.
you dream of them that night, on bare streets; it wakes you in a cold sweat, the image of your neighborhood reduced to just your house and suguru's.

this is the 200th sunrise since you started counting, which means this is the 200th day since you and suguru officially got together. kind of.
your gift for him is a painting of the sunrise, because it reminds you of him; and because it's become your favorite thing to look forward to, too.
the pinks and purples blend together beautifully as it contrasts with the orange hues, and the sun continues to peak above the horizon as it settles between clouds.
suguru kisses you when you give it to him, the taste of tea right on his tongue.
he frames it on his bedside, and when you wake in his room the next morning, it greets you along with the back of his head, fast asleep.
your eyes flit to the view outside his window, the same pinks, purples, and orange hues. you tilt your head curiously, brows furrowing. the sun stays at the same spot above the horizon, and when you look at the painting again, the clouds hold the same position and shape.
a chill washes over you, your hearbeat pounding.

"what date is it today?" you ask suguru as you wash the potatoes in the sink.
another bag of groceries from suguru. now that you think about it, you don't think you've ever gone to the grocery store since moving.
"is it important?" he responds, slightly snappy. you've begun to notice that he hates it when you ask lately.
you eye him from the side.
"i was thinking of preparing a menu of what we'll eat during the holidays, if it's near."
the furrow on his brows smooths out as you give your answer, and so he says, "december 5."
and you know something is wrong, because that can't be it. it doesn't make sense with the sunrises you've counted.

you dream again, more and more as the days go by―dirt roads and your house and suguru's, run-down and empty. more things start breaking in your apartment, and suguru always knows when they need to be fixed.
there's a deep, twisting feeling in your stomach that intensifies, festering under your skin; it worsens in the mornings, when you sit with suguru at your porch and you think you see a crack in the sunrise.

#doctor who#tenth doctor#martha jones#david tennant#freema agyeman#(good god. without even meaning to I went into 'psycho stream of consciousness tagging' mode. whoops)#always thinking of that one post#where OP mentions how the writing tries to make it seem like Ten looked right through Martha/etc#which is a good concept for demonstrating his grief. but also isnt what we really see throughout S3#(not saying he wasn't a grieving MESS because he was. but he's a multi-faceted character and he can grieve AND value Martha simultaneously)#but we see such fierce protective instinct+trust; a bond between them that obviously isn't some one-sided affair#+ his clear intent to impress her/be admired and respected by her (apropos the post that inspired this sentiment)#but RTD obviously isn't the most infallible of writers#*cough* [list of reasons I cut down b/c long] *cough*#He can make Martha say “he's not seeing me/he doesn't look at me” but then you just watch with your eyes and you get a different story#It's like the opposite of when Moffat tries to make you believe someone is super important through bold claims without showing his work#instead RTD tries to make you believe Ten is functionally blind to Martha's existence while showing numerous examples of the contrary#then bring in the novels+myspace blog+cartoon that he all signed off on. Which tie together to create a canon backdrop#basically I said all of that to say this—#it's the whole reason I had to make this blog to get this sort of stuff off my chest (even if it's just for me sometimes)—#Ten not only SAW Martha—he trusted+respected+enjoyed+adored her. And it's a good thing#it doesn't cheapen his grief. IF YOU JUST KEEP WALKING. this is going to be one of those stories#so many dance blurbs and descriptions are like stupid technical like oh we explored the effect of weighing down our hands and feet#on our Center of Gravity and how it altered the rotational momentum of turns and jumps#or else they're stupid esoteric like oh the wind blew..... and the children wept and all over the world the oceans rose... I occasionally see posts/get messages about the various harry potter references in the bright sessions, etc. and I've gotten a bunch of new followers recently so just so any new/younger listeners of my shows know:
jk rowling is a terrible transphobe whom I hold zero respect for and I haven't given a dime of my money to her since she revealed who she truly is. I want the whole bright universe to be a safe space for trans people (including the trans folks in our cast and crew!) and if I could go back and remove those references, I would. but I can't! harry potter was an extremely significant part of my life until...well, until it became very clear who she really was. it makes me so sad to think that folks might be finding TBS now and get thrown out of the story by these references, but just know that the people who made the show do not stand by jk, and that in many ways, the show is a product of its time.

I wanted to give her a chance to learn and grow#and she did....not do that#but TAMA was written in that little grace period#and then a few references in TCT were taken out during recording bc june of 2020 was when she really started to go mask off#and so we were making changes in real time#we didn't know what to do about quidditch#bc we were like 'this is a sport that people play in college and it's just called that?'#'and it's already canon that caleb plays?'#and it wasn't called quadball yet#anyway not trying to make excuses!#just know that none of those references were put in with any malice#and I guess I *could* go back and rerecord all those lines and replace them#but I know enough about my original audio engineering to know that it woudl be VERY hard to make it sound natural#and idk I do think there's something to be said for not covering up errors in old work#I'm not going to try to pretend HP wasn't important to me#EDIT: I've turned off reblogs for this post#also this is not me trying to tell other people how to approach their own HP fandom#fanworks especially - there's no benefiting jo in that - and I think it's totally legit for ppl to want to take HP as their own!

The independent religious bookstore is the only place you can go on an overpriced shopping spree and feel good about it.
#i was going there to get a baptism gift#(guess who gets to be godmother again!)#(those girls are going to be getting identical presents their whole life)#i went with a crucifix for the baptism present since their statues are very picked over#and the godfather already got one for her (kind of) patron saint#i also got a holy card for her definitely patron saint#and a blanket that was way too expensive but it was pink and guardian angel and also had her name#so it's like it was made for her baptism#and then there was a gorgeous nativity set advent wreath for 75% off so that's for me#plus two 75% off slightly damaged children's book versions of the christmas story#so there's a christmas present for both goddaughters#then a book about catholic motherhood for my sister-in-law since i have her for secret santa#and then i threw in an advent devotional that looks pretty good#i wasn't even trying to buy stuff it all just jumped out at me#but when you're buying from the cute friendly old lady you don't even feel bad about buying more than intended#i feel kind of bad having her wrap the crucifix for me#but also i can't turn down the nostalgic joy of having your present gift-wrapped at the shop#i think that 'gift-wrapper at department store' is one of my nostalgic obsolete dream jobs

just watched all the way through john fuhnaffs recent theory and like godd he really is cooking he truly is onto something but like. the idea that Cassies dad did all of thos important stuff and is connected to the mimic and built mxes and did all this shit is like. what do Gregory and vanessa even have to do with anything anymore at this point
#like when ruin came out everybody thought they built mxes to lock away the thing that abused them and that was#their way of fighting back after they were free so they could secure that they can live normal lives#and it made perfect sense#and also was narratively satisfying#but now this technician guy did it all and gregory and vanessa just went down there and trapped it with concrete and thats it#like. can they do anything plz#its just so weird#why dont they want them to do important stuff#they wont even let vanny do anything anymore its just a guy wearing vannys face#i know that the hw2 candy cadet stories and the ggy hints are trying to tell us hey. we havent forgotten about them#but also im just. not thrilled about 3 entire releases building up the mimic and cassies dad and it taking at that point#at LEAST over 3 years to get anything with a chance of gregory and vanessa#like when sb came out in 2021 and got into it believe it or not i kinda expected the characters in it that were main characters to idk#be in the story and do stuff#its just annoying#theyll come back someday but the way theyve handled things where itll take probably 3.5 years at least to give them the time of day is just#urgh#anyway john fuhnaff is a great theorist i love him#he has such real takes hes so chill about everything too#and the way he said 'im totally open to that happening' about sotm and tftp being copy paste 💀💀💀#so true man#discourse

I spent all day making my desktop look like this & love it sm lol it was so much fun doing it and looking and learning all the stuff.
Anyways im back from my midterms break and hopefully im gonna start back up again!!! Yay!!! But first i have to finish a section of the reference sheet i was working on :-)

Enrichment.#oughhhh dont get me started on the little rabbit hole i went down when getting windows media player 9 skins#now i need to make one of those ‘character on default computer background’ wallpapers with spamton to get the whole deal#…don’t analyze my desktop.. its barebones because im still getting stuff back on from my old computer#and this sudden motivation to change the entirety of my windows to look like XP was all because my family member showed me an old tower with#XP he was working on and i got to look around and explore it and even draw spamton… and i realized#Wow. I am missing out. I hate the windows 10 look but i never fully took in how fucking lame it is.#so i took it upon myself to research everything to make it look like XP. age 13- started middle school where he ‘befriends’ iyogi
age 14- has been a victim of bullying for a year and the bullying escalated to the point his grandmother was killed. met hitoya who made sure iyogi ain’t seeing the light ever again and a little later helped jyushi find the will to keep living

age 23- upon receiving a tip, he decided to change majors from being a doctor to a lawyer in order to jail the guy that bullied his brother. broke up with jakurai after a disagreement
age 31- meets kuukou and jyushi for the first time and we see the fruits of his lawyer efforts
#vee queued to fill the void#i was thinking about how to define kuukou’s periods thru his jackets again lol and while thinking about that earliest dragon sukajan#decided to see bat all had three pivotal moments in their lives that led to the present lol#it’s something i like to think all the characters have but i haven’t put much thought into lol#(i also think the leaders have four points but that’s not what this is about lol)#*head in hands* but i desperately want to talk about kuukou’s clothes and the eras of his life it represents lol#i can’t remember if i actually did that yet or not (surely i didn’t think of the entire post just to not make it lmao………)#but i wouldn’t be surprised if the dragon and the darker colours were very symbolic of kuukou’s violence#and that earliest sukajan we see him with is a scene that’s just the tip of the iceberg lol#ichiro ‘lost’ his parents (esp his mom) around that age it looks like and nemu lost her parents (her mom the actual parent) at 7#so my guess is that he was 7 when whatever went down with mama harai for the sake of parallels lol#bat all have important events at the age of 14 so coincidental stuff like that are a thing lol#it’s by that logic i think jyushi was 6 when he received amanda lol jyushi and kuukou have pivotal moments in the same year#but just have their age gap#but in reality lmao jyushi was nervous about starting school hence the gift#and you start elementary school in jp at 6 LOL#jyushi’s bday being so early in the school year makes it a little difficult to gauge how long he’d been bullied for#but i’ll trust hypmic means he rly did get bullied for a year by his intro chapter lol

What was the moment/scene that officially cemented you as a Sontails shipper? Or was it multiple?
Ah good question!
So if you've seen my sontails/sonine posting you've probably heard the story of me getting into sontails (no worries if you haven't)
Just to summarize, my journey started with Sonine and Movie!Sontails. The Grim scene in S1 E6 of Prime and the entire bar scene in Movie 2 just blasted me with second hand embarrassment (the good kind) that (despite me being eh about shipping them at that time) made be seriously go "Okay if just brothers why are these scenes directed this way". Sonic's feelings aside, I felt I knew in those moments that Nine and movie!Tails had possibly been written to have a subtextual crush on Sonic, and strong feelings in general. This was...my gateway.
But an "officially cemented" moment is a bit hard for me to specifically narrow down. I can tell you that by the time I'd been checking the Sonine tag after starting S2 of Prime and finished S2 I had to come to terms with the fact that I genuinely saw something there between the two of them (and was feeling frustrated that no one else was seemingly seeing it). At that point I'd settled as "I like Sonine but that doesn't mean I have to like all of Sontails".
Then I rewatched movie 2 a couple times and had to (similarly) come to terms with the fact that I was genuinely frustrated to not really see other people commenting on what I'd seen as potential subtext regarding Movie!Tails' feelings and that I liked this version as well.
So my gateway into Sontails was Prime and Sonic Movie 2, but accepting I liked most versions of Sontails/Sontails in general and not just a few specific versions was a bit of a slow journey. All I can say is that by the time I finished playing Colors Ultimate and got well into the Archie comics I knew I enjoyed Sontails just as much as I had come to enjoy Sonine, and was equally as obsessed with the dynamics.

Ryuji is so anxious in the beginning of the game :( hes so caught up in his head during the kamoshida arc; makes me think hes been like that for awhile, at least until u get a bit further in the game. The rumors, the self loathing, the whole stint w kamoshida; hes got too much on his brain and its kinda nice (and a little sad) that he starts sharing those anxieties and doubts the second hes in a safe space to do so.
#chattin#ryuji#hes definitely more relaxed by the madarame arc#like he got friends and a purpose and he just bounced back immediately#but i am thinking of like. the year everything went to shit for him#like it wasnt his fault but also hes the center of all the controversy#and he went from being very popular (im SURE he was; hes called a track STAR)#to being completely alone w failing grades and a broken leg. like he had alot of time to sit and think#and all the stuff w his home life being so disruptive#like despite what the school body will say he does think before he acts#he had a grown man rile him up to make him act; he didnt just go in guns blazin#i dunno where im going w this lol. i just think he gets alot of flak for being loud and annoying#but just like w everyone else; u get to see their real personality when theyre supported and loved#and ryuji is just loud and brash and he loves w his whole heart#just like ann became super vocal and silly about so many things after u help her w shiho#All the thieves are like this. ryuji is a ball of anxiety#but its quieted down when he has real support and purpose in his life again#and its less that hes ‘quiet’ about his worries; if anything hes more vocal about it#but bc hes so vocal about it; u can see the difference between him messaging u every day worrying about kamoshida#to him going w the flow and putting more trust in u and the team#he loves them sm !!!!
