can we just. urgh, sorry, can we talk about the way these two anchor each other?
Clint looks so bewildered and confused but the second he locks eyes with Nat, he knows where he is and starts to calm down.
THIS is why i love the OG and why it'll never be the same bc this duo carried the avengers. there is no bond like theirs and tbh i think the actors understood that better than the writers bc all other dynamics that try to get this strong just fall flat for me.
(there is Stucky but let's be real, Marvel did not support that dynamic half as much as they should have)
These two have been through hell together but they helped each other out of it so now they know they can do it again as long as the other is next to them

Oblivious Fools
Written by: hellsenthero
Bucky X FemReader
@tom-hlover requested:Â Bucky x lab assistant reader, where she has a secret crush on Bucky and she doesn't know how to approach him, she can be close and goofy with the others but seems to not get through to him, till one time, she was cooking up something and as a habit of asking either Wanda or Nat to taste her cooking by offering to feed them with spoon, however,it turned out that it was Bucky whom she offered, though internally screaming, she continued the facade of offering the food and surprisingly Bucky eats it and likes it,and starts a friendship/relationship?
Warnings/themes: Language, flangst. (1.4K Words.) Â *Masterlist*
----------
They were both complete and total idiots. Love struck, oblivious fools.Â
---
Tinkering away in her lab Y/Nâs mind drifted to Bucky, as it often did. Heâd been in the kitchen that morning when she made her coffee. He stood against the counter, silent and brooding while she made light conversation with Sam. Buckyâs blue eyes were the first thing that pulled Y/N towards him when they met and his sweet but stoic personality was what made her develop the world's biggest crush on him. But despite how he was with others, he was never like that with her. It was painfully obvious to her that he didnât love her presence. The second she stepped into the room heâd grow quiet, sealing his lips tightly shut. So when sheâd made her coffee that morning, sheâd bothered only to speak to Sam, already knowing sheâd get no words from the soldier in the corner. Sam and Y/N made easy talk, laughing at a joke she made before she left the room.Â
âShit.â Y/N cursed as she broke a glass vial in her hand. Green liquid pooled across the table and Y/N raced to clean it up. Mind focused on the liquid sheâd been tampering with she didnât notice that the glass had cut her palm and scarlet blood welled up. Sheâd just wiped the last of the green liquid from the table when her phone rang. Putting it on speaker she answered. âHello-shit, fuck!â Finally, she became aware of her bloody palm as she answered her phone. The stinging in her hand grew and she grabbed a spare rag and wrapped it around her hand. The white cloth quickly stained red but she tried to ignore it as Tony spoke to her from the other end of the phone.Â
âJeez woman, I didnât know you had such a mouth on you.â Tony said. Despite herself, Y/Nâs lips twitched upwards. She was known in the compound as being quite a shy girl.Â
âSorry Tony, Iâm just trying to fix an accident here in the lab. What do you need?â
âIâm holding a meeting and I need those files you showed me yesterday. Can you bring them up here?â
âOh right, sure thing.â Y/N answered. âIâll be there in two minutes.â
âGreat.â Tony said before hanging up.Â
Pulling the cloth away from her hand Y/N surveyed her palm. It didnât seem to need stitches, and no glass could be seen poking out. Counting herself lucky Y/N tied the bloody rag back around her hand. Sheâd tend to it once she got back to the lab. With the files in her uninjured hand, she went to see Tony.Â
Y/N ducked her head a touch lower as she walked into the room and realized it was filled with the Avengers. âThe files you asked for.â She said to Tony as she passed them to him. She tried not to pay attention as the others in the room all looked to her. Including a certain soldier, she realized.Â
âThank-â Tony began before he was cut off.Â
âAre you okay?â Y/N turned around to face Bucky. His stormy blue eyes glanced between her face and bloody palm. The white turned scarlet rag around her hand making her injury rather obvious. Y/N tried not to let her jaw hit the floor as Bucky spoke to her. Other than the odd greeting, theyâd shared few words.Â
âOh, uh,â Y/N looked between Bucky and her hand. Heat creeped up the back of her neck. âYeah, Iâm okay. Just a little lab accident.â Glancing at her feet she said, âI should go back to the lab.â Before Bucky could say another word, Y/N left. Did she want to leave? No, she never wanted to leave Buckyâs presence. But if she hadnât gotten out of that room when she did then all of the Avengers would have seen her turn as red as a tomato just from talking to Bucky. Her palms got sweaty and her heart raced, but as Y/N made her way back to her lab she wore the worldâs brightest smile.Â
Bucky had talked to her, asked if she was okay. The knowledge that he cared about her well-being made Y/N giddy for the rest of her day.Â
---
When Y/N walked into the room Bucky momentarily forgot to breath. Even in a loose, white lab uniform she was beautiful. Beautiful, stunning and...and hurt. His gaze focused on her wrapped up palm as she handed Tony a file. The scarlet stained white cloth sent warning bells off in his head.Â
âAre you okay?â He blurted out. So help him, if someone hurt herâŚ
âOh, uh, yeah, Iâm okay. Just a little lab accident.â Bucky eased a bit, but still, she was hurt. He was going to ask if he could help her, perhaps bandage her up properly before she mumbled a goodbye and left the room.Â
Another missed shot.Â
He didnât fully understand how, but the cool, confident ladies man before Hydra was long gone. He wished he could charm Y/N, talk to her smoothly, confidently. But the second she got close his lips sealed shut. Too worried to say the wrong thing to her he often chose to not say anything at all.Â
He wondered if she hated that about him. He prayed to God she didnât.Â
---
The rest of the day went by easily enough for Y/N. No more accidents, despite the clumsy giddiness she clung onto. Now, she made her famous lentil soup. Poured onto a bed of rice the soup was meant to be a mixture of spice and herb flavouring. Usually, Wanda or Nat would be around to taste it for her, telling her if it needed tinkering, but they were nowhere to be found. It was just her and...and Bucky, she realized as he walked into the kitchen. Y/N tried to play it cool, but the task was near impossible for her with Bucky so close.Â
âIs your hand any better?â He asked as he walked towards her. Y/N glanced at the fresh, clean bandage that now covered her hand.Â
âYeah, Iâm all good.â
âGood, goodâŚâ Bucky trailer off. Setting her stir spoon down for a moment Y/N turned to fully face him. âI was worried.â He said quietly.Â
It seemed that Bucky too, could be a bit shy.Â
And Y/N loved it.Â
âR-really?â Y/N asked, despite seeing the truth of Buckyâs words in his eyes.Â
âOf course.â Y/N nodded her head. She knew how Bucky felt. Too many times she watched him come in from missions bloody and hurt. Too many times she nearly died in fear for his safety.Â
Y/N turned back to her cooking dinner. âWould you like to be my taste tester? Nat and Wanda are usually here to help but I canât seem to find them.â Buckyâs lips turned up into a small smile.Â
âI would love to.â Lips turned up into a smile of her own Y/N lifted her spoon up to Buckyâs mouth. She watched carefully as he blew on the heated lentils before eating them. Eyes blowing up wide he looked between the empty spoon and Y/Nâs eyes. âYouâve been the one making this meal?â Bucky asked in astonishment. Y/N gave a careful nod of her head, worried Bucky didnât like her meal. âYouâre an amazing cook, Y/N. This has been my favourite meal since I first tasted it.â Just like that Y/Nâs worries flew out the window.Â
âThank you.â Y/N said. Bucky smiled wider as he took a step closer to her.Â
âI might be taking this too far, butâŚâ Bucky trailed off for a moment and he looked into Y/Nâs E/C eyes. âI would like to cook for you one night, just you.â
Y/N took a step closer to Bucky. They were nearly nose to nose now. âI would love that, Bucky.â
âGood,â Bucky rested a hand against Y/Nâs hip as he leaned down and pressed a gentle kiss to her cheek. âItâs a date.â

marvel phase four 2021 characters favourite fanfiction trope because this idea has popped into my head and now it shall not escape
part one: main two of Wandavision TFATWS Loki and Black Widow
Wanda-Soulmate AUâs, she deems herself so unlovable until Vision finds her and gives her all the love she deserves and when he dies she quite literally created another reality where his sole purpose of existence is loving her because she missed his love and affection
Vision: hurt/comfort, he comforts Wanda after being hurt by Ultron,Tony(altho he didnât mean it), the universe, earth, the government and a whole bunch of people
Sam- enemies to friends/ co-workers to lovers, yes i am heavily using Sambucky as a reference for this deal with it. He is trying his best to form a friendship with Bucky after the events of Steve leaving which results to Bucky becoming his side kick when he takes on the mantle of Captain America(as he should) and donât you dare tell me that staring into the sunset seen was not romantic
Bucky- friends to lovers, after the betrayal of Steve his former childhood crush Bucky becomes friends with Steveâs new prodigy and the new captain america Sam Wilson and the smile Bucky had when he saw Sam in his Captain America suit helping those governors isnât a âthatâs my friendâ smile its a âthatâs my boyfriendâ smile
TVA Loki: miscommunication that ends up in disagreements or arguments, how does it feel to be the least advanced Loki in the multiverse..that was a rhetorical question shut the hell up you fake waste of potential
Sylvie: insect/selfcest..do i need to say more? exactly
Natasha: found family, the Avengers are basically her found family a group of people who shared some of the same experiences together as one until Tony and Steve get a divorce and Steve is taking the kids while Nat runs away from the government
Yelena: FLUFF FLUFF FLUFF FLUFF FLUFF, honestly after all the shit sheâs been through she deserves all the fluff in the world

The Avengersâ Journey (spoilers)
I just watched Endgame again yesterday and I think this time, it sank into me that we will never see the OG Avengers together again which is a greater loss than anything I can ever imagine.
Hawkeye
We first saw him in a short cameo in Thor and then he went on to be possessed by the Tesseract. I loved Hawkeye but he was not my favourite Avenger. He did went through a lot and he did so with mostly a bow and arrow. I look up to him because of his love for his family. He was willing to sacrifice everything in Vormir to get his family back and his friendship with Nat was his greatest redemption; he brought her back from her past violences and she brought him back from his present self. They were an iconic duo and they did not deserve to lose each other so soon after being reunited. Hawkeye may not have super strength or a suit of armour, but he still was every bit as heroic.
Bruce Banner/Hulk
Dr. Banner; a man at odds with who he is, who hated who he could become and eventually embraced it with finality. Bruce was always afraid of being Hulk, especially after the events of Age of Ultron. Until Infinity War, Iâm fairly certain that he was scared of going rouge. Even though I was not a fan of Nat and Bruce romantic-wise, it must have been a solace that Bruce had Nat to bring him back to himself. He was the second brain of the Avengers, the peacekeeper (ironically) between them and his journey does not end here, weâll see him soon.
Thor
I adore Thor, heâs one of the most complex characters in Avengers. Thor was the character who could be surrounded by a million people and still feel lonely. Family issues, girlfriend issues, he had them all until he lost everything. Thor is synonym with Loki despite their always-hurting-each-other-but-i-love-you-relationship. Thor was absolutely in depression in Endgame and who could blame him honestly. Heâs the Avenger who lost his entire family; he literally has no blood by his side. Itâs understandable why he spiralled and I think it was important for fans to see that instead of pretending he was fine. He went through the most emotional turmoil but was always trying to hide it. Even the strongest Avenger can only take so much. It will take some time for Thor to be back to his usual self but we can look forward to it.
Natasha Romanoff/Black Widow
The only female Avenger but with the heaviest emotional baggage. Nat does not get enough recognition thatâs all I can say. She went through shit after shit but sheâs ultimately the one who held the team together. She was the only one working her ass off 5 years after Infinity War and her breaking down was the most heartbreaking thing Iâve watched. Sheâs always been strong but her short reprieve showed us how much she truly cared for the only family she ever had. Sheâs always hated herself but she embraced it with the Avengers because they accepted her for who she was. Her relationship with Clint was also tear-jerkingly beautiful. He was there with her from the very beginning, from freaking BUDAPEST, all the way to her last moments. There are no words to describe their friendship. Clintâs children treated her like a second mom and we can only imagine how they will react when Clint delivered the news that their Aunt Nat will no longer meet them for lunch and teach them how to throw knives. Her friendship with Cap was also the best. When Clint was not around, Nat poured herself out to Cap and he to her. Nat told Cap âIâll see you in a minuteâ but he never saw her again and he never got the chance to say goodbye. That alone was enough to get me sobbing. Nat has always been determined, she was never afraid of dying to bring everyone back and she ultimately crossed off her red ledger (she saved a billion people thatâs more than enough) There are so many words to say about Nat, and this could go on for another 1000 words but ultimately she was selfless, she loved fully, and she will never be forgotten.
Steve Rogers/ Captain America
Cap might be my second favourite Avenger. He fought the Nazis, was frozen for years and never once did he stop fighting. He was the glue that held the Avengers together. I do think that his ending was perfect; he loved Peggy with all his heart. Their relationship was a staple in the MCU and it was only fitting that he spent the rest of his life with her. Cap was the definition of selfless, he was willing to die for Bucky in CATWS, he was there for Nat when she needed someone and he was the leader of the Avengers. He brought the group together; he was their morale, heart and soul. The bromance of Cap and Tony really struck me even though his best friends are of course Bucky and Sam. They were polar opposites, and were fighting tooth and nail almost all the time. Yet the trust they had for each other was breathtaking; they worked so well as a duo and when Cap cried at Tonyâs death, it ruined me so much. I donât think we can fully appreciate Capâs existence in the MCU. He would forever be irreplaceable. He had the strongest principles, he was even willing to fight Thanosâs army if the rest of the Avengers had not arrived. It was only fitting that he wielded Mjolnir. Thank you Chris Evans, no one could ever play Captain America better than you did.
Tony Stark/ Iron Man
My one true love, the best Avenger, the saviour. Tony started of as a narcissistic, arrogant and sarcastic person. Then he became Iron Man and the rest was history. Thereâs always this thing called hero-complex that everyone supposed a superhero has but Tony was different. It was in his nature to save the world or he would be ridden with guilt and he would not be able to rest. No one could say that heâs selfish when he was the most fucking selfless person ever. He had nothing before Pepper and then he had everything; a wife, a daughter, a family. He lost his parents so early into his life and he finally earned his own family. But he knew the cost of joining the fight, yet he did so willingly. He could not live with himself if he did not join in the fray. Thatâs who Tony Stark was, plain and simple. He risked everything to save the world even though he was happy and finally content. When he saw Stephen Strange holding up his finger, he knew what he had to do and you could literally see him bracing himself for what was to come. And when he said âI am Iron Manâ, that will go down in history. He suffered the most from Thanos, he had PTSD from the New York battle and it haunted him forever. Yet his love for his family which includes the Avengers triumphed over everything. His relationship with Pepper is something I will write about but for now just remember that his last words were âHey Pepsâ and how he smiled right before dying when she assured him they were going to be fine. I was absolutely depressed when he died but him killing Thanos was the only ending I could imagine. RDJ started the MCU with Iron Man and he ended its biggest phase as well. He was my favourite movie character and looking at my username I have watched a lot of films. It felt like saying goodbye to a piece of me. I love you 3000 Tony Stark and RDJ.
The Avengers gave me so much; they formed my childhood and I will always go back to them for solace. Itâs not just fiction, the culmination of 22 films and 11 years were a better part of my life and it provided me comfort in ways I could not imagine.

âI slept with Bucky.â It was like Tonyâs brain short-circuited, every argument died on his lips.
âno you didnât.â the words flew out of his mouth, an instantaneous response. Because Steve wouldnât, heâd know that that would be the potential thing to truly end their relationship.
âTony-â
âyou didnât, you wouldnât have.â Tony ran a hand through his hair, his heart was pounding in his chest, something was wrong. Steve wouldnât have, there was something wrong with Steve.
âTony-â but Tony cut him off again.
âbecause you love me, you chose me, you married me-â
âMaybe I shouldnât have! Maybe this life with you and Peter was a mistake!â Steve snapped and Tony flinched. This didnât make any sense, Tony couldnât understand it.
âbut in our vows you said you couldnât imagine a life where you and I arenât together.â Tonyâs voice was so small, he was suddenly so tired of fighting.
âI know.â
âso why are you trying to make that the life we live in? why are you so determined to break this marriage?â Tony demanded, trying to stay calm. But Steve looked just fine, the guilt was quickly fading. He looked like a stone statue.
Steve could feel the guilt disappearing, he felt empty. He wanted to feel this guilt, wanted to fight for this marriage, wanted to hold Tony and tell his husband how much he loved him. Steve opened his mouth, ready to tell Tony how he truly felt, but it was like his mind hit a brick wall.
âPeople change Tony.â
âSo you want to be with Bucky now?â No! Steve choked on the word, he looked down at the floor, not able to speak at all. It was like he was trapped in his own mind.
âWhereâs Peter?â Steve asked instead, the only words he could manage.
âHeâs with May.â Steve dragged his eyes up at Tony and his heart broke. Because Tony was trying so hard to fix things, and Steve was trying equally hard to ruin them.
It was horrible. Peter never wanted to be at home, the fighting between his dads was worse than ever now. They wouldnât tell him what was going on, Aunt May swore she had no clue. The only real escape was school. Not that school was much of an improvement. Peter walked up to his locker in a half-comatose state. He was exhausted. He couldnât sleep anymore, not with his dads arguing all through the night. His spidey sense kicked in a second before Wade Wilson tapped his shoulder. Peter spun around, a scowl on his face and brain suddenly awake. But Wadeâs posse wasnât around. Peter immediately relaxed.
âWhat do you want?â Peter asked dryly, the boys had stopped speaking years ago. Mainly because Wade was popular and interested in girls and partying. Peter was interested in neither of those. Heâd been interested in Wade and hanging out with the Avengers. Wade was the only kid in the school who knew about Peterâs dads.
âAre you alright?â Wade was frowning and Peter took a deep breath. He felt a sudden urge to tell Wade everything, to spill his secrets in a way that once had been so easy. They had known everything about each other. Peter knew all about how Wade wished heâd gotten to know his father and how Wade had an unhealthy obsession with Wham! Make It Big, he knew that Wadeâs favourite food was pizza and that Wade never had to study to pass a test.
âIâm fine.â He lied. There was once a time Peter could tell Wade everything, he didnât even have to think about it. Being with Wade was as easy as breathing. Now being around Wade felt similar to drowning.
âyou donât look fine.â Was that worry? How could Wade still see through Peterâs lies, even after all these years?
âsince when did you care about how I looked?â Peter demanded. He was surprised to see Wade flinch. Wade didnât care, that had been made clear. Over the years, Peter had attempted to revive their friendship, Wade had slammed the door shut in his face.
âWhatâs going on Peter?â Wadeâs voice was slightly softer and Peter turned back to his locker, squeezing his eyes shut. he missed Wade, but Wade was an asshole and they werenât best friends anymore.
âHey Peter, hey Wade.â Ned had the best timing.
âNed could you give us a minute?â Wade asked and Ned smiled but Peter shot him a dark look.
âUhh-â Ned suddenly didnât look so sure of himself. Peter and Wade had never really explained to anyone what had gone wrong. So Ned didnât know whether to hate Wade or to simply be passive aggressive towards him.
âWas there a point to this conversation Wade?â Peter demanded and Wade frowned.
âWilson get over here!â cue the posse. Peter heard Wade swear underneath his breath.
âIâll talk to you later Peter.â Wade flashed them both a smile and then turned to go join his friends. He turned the corner and then Wade was gone.
âWhat was that about?â Ned asked and Peter shrugged.
âI dunno, but itâs not my place to care anymore.â Ned nodded his head.
âYou look tired.â Even though Peter loved Ned, even though they were best friends, he didnât tell Ned everything.
âIâm fine.â He lied, and Ned believed it.
Plates had been smashed, windows broken and house destroyed. Tony wasnât exactly sure how the fight had escalated so quickly, but it had. It hadnât been that big of a problem until Peter had come home, carrying a large stack of mail.
âhey Peter.â Tony smiled sheepishly and watched his son take in the house.
âDo you want me to stay with May?â Peter offered and Tony groaned.
âI hate this, you know that I hate this right?â Peter sighed and nodded.
âI know dad, Iâll go pack a bag.â Peter was shuffling through the mail and lifted up a fancy envelope.
âWhatâs that?â Tony asked, abandoning the chair he was trying to fix.
âItâs addressed to the three of us.â Peter said and opened the envelope. Tony peered over Peterâs shoulder, Clint and Natasha were getting married.
âfinally.â Tony muttered.
âare you and pops getting a divorce?â Peter asked suddenly and Tony flinched.
âOf course not. This is justâŚâ Tony trailed off and Peter stared down at the floor.
âthe beginning of a divorce?â he asked and tony sighed.
âA rough patch.â He decided.
âYou and pops have had rough patches before, this isnât a rough patch. Tell me whatâs going on.â Tony groaned.
âI want to kid, I honestly doâŚâ but how did you tell your 17 year old that their father had been unfaithful?
âjust tell me, Iâm old enough that you should be telling me stuff.â Tony sighed and nodded his head.
âSteve and BuckyâŚâ Peterâs eyes widened and Tony instantly regretted saying anything.
âYouâre joking.â Peterâs instant disbelief was similar to what Tony had experienced.
âI really wish I was kid.â Peter squeezed his eyes shut and took a deep breath.
âWhat are you going to do?â he asked and Tony shrugged, even though Peter wasnât looking.
âI donât know.â
âdo you want a divorce?â
âNo.â
âDoes pops?â
âI donât know.â Peter was taking this all surprisingly well.
âWeâre going to be okay Peter.â Tony promised and Peter nodded.
âI know, you always make things better. Iâm going to pack for Mayâs, alright?â Tony nodded his head.
âAlright.â
âLove you dad.â
âlove you too.â
Steve was trying not to freak out. He told bucky that he had told tony. Told bucky that no matter how hard he tries, he always chokes on the words he means.
âSomething isnât right SteveâŚâ Bucky trailed off, lost in thought.
âI know what youâre thinking and Iâve tried to tell Tony about the purple guy. I tried it this afternoon, but I couldnât get the words out. I ended up throwing a chair across the room.â Bucky frowned.
âthis is bad Steve, I donât like being someone elseâs puppet.â Steve wasnât a fan of it either.
âMaybe you could tell someone. I canât but maybe you can.â Bucky shrugged his shoulders.
âI can try.â
Peter hated this. When he knocked at the door, May had been grinning. But the smile faded as soon as she noticed Peter.
âAnother fight?â she asked and he nodded. She stepped aside and he could hear voices from the dining room.
âWhoâs here?â Peter asked and May bit her lip.
âMay? Whatâs going on? You know I canât see, Wade whatâs going on?â It was Alâs voice. Suddenly Peter wanted to turn around and run, this was now the last place he wanted to be.
âPeter just showed up.â Wade murmured and Peter wanted to disappear through the floor.
âI can just go-â But May shook her head.
âNonsense, i was just finishing up dinner.â May walked off to the kitchen.
âPeter how are you? I havenât heard from you in ages, tell me whatâs going on? Howâs Steve and Tony?â Peterâs hands were shaking and Wade was staring at him with wide eyes.
âFine.â Peter lied and Wade frowned but mercifully said nothing.
âThatâs good, last time I spoke with Steve he was telling me how he and Tony were talking about adopting another kid. Are they still planning on that?â Peter had not known about that.
âI donât know. Iâm just going to dump my stuff in the guest room, Iâll be back.â Peter moved as quickly as possible. Once the bedroom door was closed, Peter leaned against it. He took several deep breaths, trying to calm down. Wade was here. He would have to sit through dinner and pretend like everything was fine, like his world wasnât imploding. There was a knock on the other side of the door. Thinking it was May, Peter opened the door.
âWhatâs going on with you?â Wade demanded, Peter nearly slammed the door in his face.
âNothing.â
âwhy wonât you talk to me?â Wade demanded.
âin case you hadnât noticed, we havenât exactly been friends in the past three years.â Wade winced slightly and it brought peter a sense of satisfaction.
âOuch Peter, I guess Iâd forgotten your ability to hit people right where it hurts.â Peter rolled his eyes.
âWhat are you even doing here?â Peter demanded, surely Wade knew that when their friendship ended, Peter got his aunt. Wade couldnât have everyone.
âMay invited us over. Why are you being such an asshole today?â Wade asked, tilting his head and studying Peter.
âStop. Donât make judgements about me, you donât get to do that anymore.â Wade raised a brow.
âDid you get the invitation?â Wade asked and Peterâs brows furrowed.
âInvitation?â what was he on about?
âFor Clint and Natasha?â theyâd invited him to the wedding?
âOf course I received an invitation.â Peter grumbled.
âAre you going?â Wade asked and Peter inhaled sharply.
âYeah, theyâre practically my aunt and uncle.â Wade nodded.
âWell Iâm going, and Iâd rather we be civil. Even if only for that night.â Peter frowned.
âdinner!â May called out and Peter sighed.
âWe should probably get back out there.â Wade nodded in agreement.
âYeah.â But it looked like he had more to say. Peter waited patiently, preparing for whatever Wade had to say.
âYouâve really changed.â And with that, Wade went back to dinner.
Steve had somehow managed to organise a meeting where he, bucky and tony all sat down together. Finally Tony would find out about Steveâs vision.
âWhatâs this all about Steve?â Tony asked impatiently, Steve took a deep breath and nodded at Bucky. Bucky had been calm the entire time, ready to tell Tony what had happened. But when Bucky opened his mouth, he froze.
âBucky?â Steve coaxed, his marriage depended on this.
âSteve belongs with me.â Bucky seemed to be fighting the words and Steve felt the blood drain from his face.
âStop talking.â Steve pleaded but he knew it was too late. That Bucky wouldnât be able to stop. He was as much a puppet as Steve was.
âWhat?â tonyâs brows furrowed and steveâs heart broke. There was no way to tell tony, his marriage was over. Ruined. Steve couldnât save it, he couldnât undo this damage. He was a prisoner to his own mind, someone else was in control.
âSteve should be with me. We have been in love for a hundred years, surely you understand that we belong together?â Steve couldnât believe this. Tony looked to Steve, there was so much pain in his husbandâs eyes.
âSteve?â his voice was so soft and Steve knew Tony deserved better than this. He thought about their life, dancing with tony at the fundraiser, making cookies and lasagne, holding tony in his arms, their first kiss, raising peter together, buying this house, peterâs first day of school. He thought about all of their best moments. And with a deep breath, knew it was time to let it go.
âI think itâs time we get a divorce.â Tony squeezed his eyes shut. Steve studied Tonyâs face, he couldnât keep hurting Tony. He needed to figure out what was going on, and if he loved Tony, he needed to keep Tony out of the picture.
âokay.â Tony whispered.

Favourite avengers movies scenes? Favourite iron man movies scenes? Favourite captain America movies scenes?
Omg, you have no idea how hyped I am because you're the first person who asked me so thank you for that. Anyways, you are in for a long ride because I won't be able to shut up about this.
1. Iron Man movies
Fave scene in IM1, I am Iron Man. That was the line that made MCU a different universe. I think they were gonna follow 616 (based on Tony's prepped statement courtesy of Phil) until RDJ disregarded the script and just opted to say that.
You see Nat going from playful to serious master assasin mode because her best friend is in danger. That scene basically shows that they will do everything for each other (FACT PROVEN IN ENDGAME). Basically, I loved all of Clint and Nat's scenes (kinda a low-key Clintasha shipper) in the first movie. I absolutely love their friendship and how it's portrayed in the MCU in its entirety. I mean I would've preferred that they be a couple but their platonic love for each other is what really got me to burst into tears in Endgame.
Whenever I watch that scene in IM1, I always find myself shaking my head and smiling because of how unbelievable Tony is. A part of me thinks he said that just so he could fuck with Christine Everhart and the other part of me thinks that he said it because he wants to tell people that you can be a superhero, no matter who you are and what your past is. It makes me think that way because before declaring that he's ironman he says that he's not a superhero because of his list of character defects.
In IM2, fave scene is Nick and Tony's talk in the latter's Malibu mansion. The whole conversation about Howard Stark. It highlights the fact that Tony never really got to know Howard. We all know he was a bad father to him but I kinda have mixed feelings about it. I mean, we see our parents as parents until we get to know who they are outside of being that. Personally, I'm just knowing who my mom is, now (I'm 20). Tony never really got that (part of the reason why that scene where Tony meets Howard in Endgame was important, for me).
And IM3, I don't have a specific favorite scene but I love its concept. I loved the fact that they showed Tony having anxiety attacks and PTSD and how he got through that. It's one of the things that made him human and so relatable.
I have to confess that I didn't see any CA movies until 2016. I only watched it because Tony was in CA:CW then I watched CA:TWS before watching CA:TFA. Basically, I watched it in reverse. đđ
I also loved the fact that the person who got him through it was Harley, a kid who became Tony's sidekick during that time. God, I don't really know how to explain how important it is to me, it's something that I can't put into words but I REALLY FELT THAT.
2. Captain America movies
CA:TFA, hands down to Steve and Peggy's last conversation. My god, that was heartbreaking. I've always been a sucker for what-could've-beens and almost love stories and they really reflect that. I sympathize with the both of them so much because they have to live with that heartbreak for the rest of their lives. It will always be the one bittersweet thing that they will carry. But the one my heart really aches for is Peggy.
I have a lot of favorite scenes from the avengers movies. I really loved the scene in A1 where Phil pulls Nat from a mission because Barton's been compromised.
I mean just. look. at. that! Holy shit, that grimace and half smile that she does. That's the face of a woman who can't get mad at the man she loves for leaving because the reason of said man for leaving her is the same reason that made her fall in love with him. It's kinda of like the look Pepper gives Tony in Endgame when the latter talks to the former about the time gps.
I'll put it on the list is easily my fave part in CA:TWS. It shows Steve doing everything he can in order to adjust to this world. It shows him moving forward.
And for CA:CW, it's Tony's presentation at MIT. Yep, loved that. It echoes with his character development.
For A:AOU, I'd say Fury having dinner with the Avengers. I think that's when he says I have you, guys, I have nothing to worry about. We know that AOU takes place after the falling of SHIELD and Nick doesn't really have all the resources that he had before but he still believes. He knows that these are the people who will save the world because they see it as something that they have to do. These are the people he watched closely and saw grow. We all know how the Avengers Initiative came to be after Captain Marvel and saw how soft Fury is back in the 90s and during the dinner in AOU, I see it as a parallel. I've always loved Fury and have always wanted to see how he came to be and who he was before SHIELD fucked him up, you know? And that scene in AOU really gave me a glimpse. I see him as the tough loving dad of the avengers.
(I got the gif from google and it says it's from bitony's tumblr so credits!)
It shows how much he wanted to help people with mental health issues because he's been there and he knows how hard it is so he wants to do everything he can to make it easier. It's for the people who finds it hard to talk to a psychiatrist so in order to contribute, he created a noninvasive tech that helps deal with that (that's why I stan one man, why I can't understand people who calls him selfish).
(P.S. CA:CW could easily be IM4, let's be real)
3. Avengers movies
A:IW honestly fucked me up (they dusted some of our faves!!!). Buuuuuuuut, I'm gonna say the Okoye-Nat team up. THAT SCENE GOT ME LIKE:
BC I LOVE OKOYE AND NAT SO MUCH!!! And to see them - these two powerful women of MCU who deserves more recognition - team up against the enemy, I swear, the BDE radiating from them.
(Additional stuff: what made me love Okoye way more is during that scene BP where W'Kabi was like would you kill me, my love? And my girl's like for Wakanda? Without question. I literally sobbed during that scene bc it hit me so much, I'm like I feel you, it just shows how much Okoye loves her country and that spoke to me)
SPOILERS AHEAD.
AS FOR ENDGAME, GOD DAMN, I LOVED EVERY MOMENT. It's easily my favorite Marvel movie. Stevetonies won in that movie, Clintasha shippers won, Thorbruce shippers won. It's basically a service to the people. I know some have been hating on it (especially on Steve's ending) but I think tied everything up.
Endgame's opening scene was Clint teaching his daughter archery. That was so soft for me. The last we saw him was CA:CW (and tbh, I didn't like him in that movie bc he's such an asshole to Tony, like the things he said cut deep) and then now we know he's on house arrest just like Scott and being happy with his family. I loved how normal it was bc that normalness made it so painful when they disappeared. Then we saw Clint become Ronin. It's a parallel, to me, because it shows that the good can be bad. It showed us flaws and that losing someone really brings out the worse in us. But he's storyline also showed how much a bad person can change with the help of other people.
Now, let's talk about Nat and Tony, let's be real, those two heroes started it. I mean, sure, Downey really started the MCU but Scarlett immediately followed him (IM2). To see their characters' journey end meaningfully by saving their families and creating a better future for the world, I gotta say, it may not be the ending we wanted (bc we want everyone to live) but they died doing what they love most, you know? They died knowing that they made a better future for everyone. And if they're gonna go, they have to go like the hero they truly are.
For Steve's arc, I'm not mad at it. I actually smiled when I saw how happy he was with Peggy. I would have wanted for him to stay in the present but I kinda get why he did it. I know it doesn't really reflect the comics (since Steve grew to love the 'future' in there) but MCU is a different universe. Steve's always been selfless, always puts the world's interest before his so to see him finally putting himself first by following Tony's advice (back in AOU) makes me understand. Like, okay, finally, this guy does something for himself.
I LOVED THOR. I know a friend of mine thought that Thor was a laughing stock during Endgame but I deemed him gaining weight as an important arc his character. Thor lost everything: Friga, Odin, Loki, Asgard, Heimdall, the people he's supposed to lead... Then he failed to stop Thanos because he didn't go for the head. He thinks he failed, he thought it was fault. He became an alcoholic, he was depressed but hides it behind jokes. I feel like somewhere in there he thought he wasn't worthy anymore. That's why he doesn't use stormbreaker, anymore. That's why for the last 5 years, he's 'not' the god of thunder. Also the reason during time heist, when he was able to call for mjolnir, it made me smile from ear to ear. Thor's endgame arc proved that no matter how depressed you are or how much of a failure you think you are, you're still worthy.
Bruce, Brucie-bear, Bruce... finally, he learned to accept Hulk. At first, I thought it was funny that he's Bruce and Hulk at the same time but the more I think about it, the more I saw how much Bruce grew. I mean, flashback in A1 when Tony told him to accept the guy and think of them as one instead of two different people, I remember how much he hated that idea because he sees himself as a monster and then in Endgame, we see him finally accepting his demons and actually became a better person because of it. Like, it really reflects how things would become better if we just embrace and love ourselves for who we are, you know?
THAT'S ABOUT EVERYTHING.

Infinity War chat: Part 1
The time has come.
Iâm sorry this is so long, please donât unfollow, just scroll past and pretend it doesn't exist if you don't wanna read it lol.
Letâs talk about it.Â
I thought it was truly incredible. Never left a cinema feeling the way I did after that film. So many emotions all in one go and I can't even begin to explain it properly but I'll try anyway.
PLEASE READ:
I reckon I'll sort each part by theme, one part going up each day. I think there will be 2 parts:
character developments
Storylines/plot events
Part one: Characters
I won't be going over all of them, just the few who really touched me. I may cover some important character development in part 2 tomorrow when I discuss story lines.
Loki
âYou will never be a god.â
I know this is the one you're probably most interested in as he is the main focus of my blog so I'll start here.
I expected it. I had time to prepare myself and so although it was extremely sad, and obviously I am heartbroken at the loss of my favourite character, I did see his death coming, which I am extremely glad about. When writing this post I have seen the film twice, and I cried more at his death the second time because I think the first time I had less of a chance to fully process it for how mental the rest of the film was.Â
I am so unbelievably pleased and relieved that he had a hero's death. He died trying to kill Thanos in order to protect his brother which is so incredible, and I loved the call back to the line âwe have a hulkâ which Stark uses on him in the first Avengers film. The fact he refers to himself as son of odin, and looks at Thor as he says it was truly incredible, it was showing his character has completed his character arc, accepting that he is both the rightful heir of Jotunheim and the prince of Asgard, he doesn't need to belong to just one place. His last line âyouâll never be a godâ was also extremely touching, showing he always felt immense pride in being raised as a prince on Asgard, and being raised to be a âgodâ.Â
Thorâs last moment with him, when he hugs his body and just cries out Lokiâs name BROKE me. Such an incredibly touching moment.
I do truly believe he is dead, and I am inclined to agree with Thanos, âno resurrections this timeâ. He was an incredible character, and I do look forward to seeing him in the time jumps/flashbacks in avengers 4.
RIP Loki, you will be missed.
Thor
âWhat more could I lose?âÂ
I can't not talk about Thor. He stole the show. Both the character and Hemsworth.
Chris did and INCREDIBLE job at portraying this broken Thor that we have never seen before. The God of Thunder was completely stripped of everything he loved from the very beginning. Having just lost his father, and before that his mother, he had lost the life of half the Asgardians who he now ruled, and worst of all, had lost his brother. His brother who died infront of him, attempting to save his life, whilst he was completely helpless. His brother whom heâd grown up with, fought against, fought with, lost before, and now lost again.
It is very clear that vengeance, and pure hatred over Thanos has overtaken Thor. He no longer cares what happens, as long as he can defeat Thanos. He has completely given up, most likely believing that everything heâll ever love will be brutally taken away from him as all else in his life has, meaning he no longer has anything stopping him from doing whatever he can to end Thanosâ his life. He takes this adventure to craft his new weapon, and then makes the most incredible entrance to a scene youâll ever see.Â
Even amongst all the hurt and pain he is drowning in, he still makes room for some light hearted, if slightly sad, humour. Commenting on family difficulties and the incredible line to Cap:Â âI see youâre copying me with the beard!â as just a few examples.
Thor is very much, for now, a Lone Ranger. although he has The Avengers, itâs very clear that at the moment he is feeling like the weight of he world rests on his shoulders alone, and I think it is a lot for him to handle. I hope he uses his anger and grief positively in the next film too, and I canât wait to find out what he will do next. Thorâs entire character arc across all the films is so unbelievably impressive, and if we have to see him die, I will definitely be extremely upset.Â
I reckon lots of people will leave Infinity war with a huge increase of love for this character, he has really proven himself as one of the strongest, most caring, and bravest Avengers yet. We started with Thor as this egotistical, over-emotional warrior, who was too childish to truly understand the effects of his actions, but we stand here now with a character who was able to look Gamora in the eye, the daughter of a guy who had murdered his brother, and forgive her. Now that is character development.
Banner
âOh screw you, you big green asshole! Iâll have to do It myself.â
Anyone who knows me IRL will know I am a huge Mark Ruffalo stan. He is both an amazing person and a talented actor, and I was SO HAPPY to see Banner shine through in this film. Not Hulk, Banner.
This whole concept of Hulk being around for two years meant heâs learnt a few tricks, and when he doesn't want to come out, he won't. This gave Banner the perfect platform to prove himself. He showed he was strong, and brave without the hulk. He stepped forward to try and help even if it was scaring, going into battle as himself for the first time must have taken a lot of guts and I am SO proud of him. I am so glad after all these years Ruffalo has finally been able to show what this shy, adorable, strong, and intelligent scientist is really made of.
I really hope his character in Infinity War will make more people appreciate Bruce Banner in his own right, not just as Hulk. He is often overlooked I feel, but personally is one of my favourite MCU characters, and has given us some of the most touching moments across the MCU such as: his relationship with Natasha, his new friendship with Thor, and the sad secret he keeps about once trying to kill himself.
GO BANNER! You are truly an adorable gem, and I want to see more of him over coming his anxieties in the next film, and definitely more of his relationship with Nat.
I think over all the impressive thing is that Hulk wouldnât come out because he was scared. He had been beaten up by Thanos once and no longer wanted to face him. This is completely different in Banner. Banner saw his friends being beaten and saw the danger that was coming, and instead of shying away, he stood up to it and fought with all he could give. He isnât necessarily physically strong, but Iâll be damned if he isnât one of the toughest emotionally.
Star Lord and Gamora
âI love you more than anything.â
These two come as a pair, and what we learnt about their relationship, and how it came to an end, was so unbelievably touching and incredibly heart breaking.
The moment they share when Gamora persuades Quill to promise to kill her was so sad. You would only ever ask that of someone you truly love, someone you know who will always do whatever they can to support you, someone who truly loves you. Their relationship has been well built, and constructed, and I felt was one I truly had gone the journey with, from start to end. When the two say they love each other I shed a tear, I had no clue that it would be the last time they spoke, and it still made me cry.
Thanos pushed Quill. He pushed him and pushed him until he broke and pulled the trigger on Gamora. Although it did not kill her due to reality tricks, the mental effect that would have on a person is astonishing, and Quill has already gone through so much. The anger he oozes when he discovers her death too is so raw and emotional, ruining the plan he had so carefully constructed from pure rage over the loss of his soul mate was torturing to watch.Â
Gamoraâs backstory was very sad too, discovering how she was manipulated as a child was disgusting, and to have her life ended by the one who had ruined her childhood filled me with such rage. I never thought marvel would kill her off as she was so strong and brave in the other films, but we saw a far more emotional version of her here, especially when she cried over Thanos when she first thought sheâd murdered him. Showing she still felt compassion for this being who had utterly destroyed her life, made me feel so much sympathy for Gamora, and I will miss her strong female presence immensely. RIP G x
Vision and WandaÂ
âI just feel you.â
I can't even think about these two without wanting to cry. Their whole relationship was squeezed into this film, yet felt like one I had been following for years. The love they feel for one another is immensely clear, and the connection they both have over the mind stone makes their bond even stronger.Â
The fact Wanda had to murder Vision in the desperate hope of stopping Thanos, only to have time reversed to witness him die again but with no positives was agonising. Both Bettany and Olsen acted beautifully, conveying the pain each was feeling so well that it practically oozed out of the screen. That last moment before his death when Visions tells her he loves her had me sobbing, and I think âI just feel youâ will go down as one of the most meaningful lines in MCU history.
I have such a new love for these two characters which previously I had not cared for all that much. Their relationship is definitely one of, if not the favourite, of mine in the whole MCU, and if they both donât return in Avengers 4, catch me throwing myself off a bridge shortly after.
Thanos and The Black Order (last one)
Rest of this has been a bit emotional hasn't it Jesus. Iâll end on a less sad one.
âPerfectly balanced, as all things should be.â
Thanos was an INCREDIBLE villain. This whole concept of him being so horrifically evil, yet also truly believing what he was doing was good, made his character so complex. He believed he was saving half of humanity which was doomed to otherwise fall. We can probably safely assume he is wrong, and that there are other ways to accomplish this, but deciding if his intentions are truly bad or good is difficult. When we see him crying for Gamora it is extremely unsettling. This mad titan, who has done so much to make us hate him and feel no sympathy for, now stands before us, weeping for someone he loves, just like many characters before him have done. He is so tough, yet also clearly so broken and desperate. I do hate hm, I truly do, but I am seriously impressed by the level of complexity his character has developed in just a single film.
âRejoice, for you are about to die at the hands of the children of Thanos.â
E B O N Y Â M A W. Only gonna talk about him from TBO cus this post is proper long and heâs the only one who really jumped out at me.
I won't lie, I am kind of sad he died! He was so chilling, and not to mention extremely powerful. This whole concept of believing it was a blessing to die for Thanos, and his speech in many scenes, including on the New York street, on the Asgardianâs ship, and on Gamoraâs planet gave such a dark atmosphere to the scenes, and really emphasised Thanosâ powerful character. The Russo Brothers stated he would be a fan favourite in an interview and I completely agree. A truly chilling character.
Thanks for reading! if you made it to the end come back tomorrow at 5pm for part 2 and make sure to comment and like x
Thanks,
Lara x

CAWS Review
Letâs go over the movie Captain America Winter Soldier. Overall, itâs probably my favourite Captain America Movie. Donât get me wrong, I liked Civil War and The First Avenger a lot but Winter Soldier one is just so good that it stands out from them.Â
Starting from the beginning, the scene with Steve constantly running past Sam Wilson and saying âOn your leftâ is absolutely golden. Sam Wilson is by far my favourite character in the movie. His lines are always the best and very funny. Another golden line is when Natasha pulls up to Steve and Sam and says, âeither one of you know where the Smithsonian is? Iâm here to pick up a fossil.â There are so many lines in the movie that are just so iconic and perfectly placed. Some other examples are, Nick Fury - âwhatâs not damaged?â Car - âAir conditioning is fully operationalâ, Steve - âbefore we get started does anyone want to get outâ, Natasha - âwow, you guys are practically twinsâ Computer guy - âYeah, I wish...Specimenâ, and Natasha - âIâm sorry, did I step on your moment?â
Some of my favourite scenes in the movie are when we first meet Bucky, a.k.a. the Winter Soldier. The very first scene is probably one of the best, when Nick Fury looks through his windshield to see Bucky pointing a device at his car. When Bucky shoots the device a disk latches onto the bottom of the car blows up, making the car flip. The the car come careening towards Bucky he just casually steps out of the way as if itâs no big deal. The next scene is when Steve first meets the Winter Soldier. They are running along the rooftop and Steve throws his shield at Bucky but at the last second Bucky Reveals his metal arm to Steve and stops the shield in mid air. Last but the opposite of least is my favourite scene. This scene is closer to the end of the movie when they are trying to take down the project insight turbine planes. Natasha has disguised herself as a council woman and gotten into the control room with the rest of the council members and Alexander Pierce. When Pierce is distracted she takes her chance, taking out the guards and pointing a gun at Pierce. She then presses a button on her mask, deactivating it and takes it off along with her wig saying, âIâm sorry, did I step on your moment.â Which is by far my favourite quote in the movie.Â
Moving on from quotes and best scenes, because I could go on and on, letâs talk about character development, starting with Sam. This is the movie where we first meet Sam Wilson. This movie hints at the fact that he will become a bigger part of the MCU and not just some side character that we only see in one movie. He starts off the movie on a morning run, where he meets Steve Rogers. We learn a little about him and he connects with Steve through their time at war. The next time we see him is when he is leading a V.A. (veteran affairs) meeting. Steve walks in at the end of the meeting and then has a conversation with Sam where Sam lets Steve in on his past and some things that happened when he was serving. A little later, Steve and Natasha show up on Samâs doorstep tattered and tired, looking for a place to lay low. Sam letâs them into his home without hesitation, showing his trust towards Steve even after only knowing each other for literally a day. Throughout the rest of the movie, Sam plays a big role in helping Steve take down project insight. He went from just some random person in the beginning of the movie to one of the main characters.Â
Now onto Miss Natasha Romanoff. At the beginning of the movie she starts off trying to make some small talk about dating with Steve, showing a little bit of friendship. But as per usual, she is keeping secrets from him. As a spy, Natasha has been trained to keep everything from everyone and not trust anyone. She doesnât ever let her guard down and doesnât let anyone in her walls. We see a lot more of her feelings than weâve ever scene before when Fury âdiesâ. He was like a mentor and maybe even a father figure to her so she was upset and very distraught at his death. We even see a moment where it looks like sheâs crying or about to cry. She then has a bonding moment with Steve when she reveals that she only pretends to know everything and then talks a little about something that happened in her past. Later, when they are at Samâs house after they had been almost killed at the bunker, she delves a little more into her feelings. She letâs down her walls a little to ask Steve if he trusts her with his life, and she shows a lot of genuine emotion on her face and in her voice. By the end of the movie after she had been such a secretive person, Natasha is willing to reveal all of her secrets to the entire world to stop Hydra. Nat went from one of the most closed off people to someone who was more willing to share her feelings (with her friends) and her past.Â
Thatâs all Iâm going to do for this post because I donât want it to be too long. I mean it might be too long already.Â

I Remember It
Pairing: Steve Rogers x Reader
Word Count: 5,520 (minus song lyrics)
Warnings: angst and heartbreak - no resolution to it (sorry)
Summary: In a short amount of time, Steve became one of your best friends. Over the course of your 11 month friendship, things changed so drastically that you could barely keep up - and youâre still suffering the Rogers Effect a year on...
(italics are all flashbacks, **flashback scene in a flashback)
A/N: This is based off of the Taylor Swift song âAll Too Wellâ, so I wrote this for Steve because I wanted to do an angst-feels fic that essentially was all about heartbreak. This fic talks about events taking place over 11 months, then 3 months after those 11 months - so where Iâve written â1 month post...â means 1 months after the events of the 11 months. If that makes sense? And I designed it to jump around, itâs a rollercoaster! I used real experiences for this too so yeah, hopefully it breaks your heart a little <3 ily
You stepped through your apartment door, your heart heavy with sadness. You had been on your way home from SHIELD, mindlessly flicking through your social media when you saw a photo Wanda had uploaded two hours ago of the whole team. Your heart had sunken into your chest, your breathing ceased, as your eyes were drawn to look at his face. You tortured yourself doing this, stopping to stare at the photo instead of scrolling passed it like you should have.
It had been just over a year since youâd seen him, even longer since you had spoken, but the pain was as fierce as if no time at all had passed. Your eyes studied his features - his carefree smile, the way he stood behind Wanda with his hand on her shoulder, his other arm slung over Buckyâs, his hair was so perfectly swept to the side as he always liked it, and his eyes shone so brilliantly blue that it felt like you were staring into the sky after months of darkness, having forgotten what it looks like.
You bit down on your lip, your leg bouncing up and down, trying to ward off the tears as your throat closed up. You had held yourself together until the moment youâd stepped through your door, feeling the hot tears run down your face.
You shuffled through the lounge and hallway, taking solace in your bedroom while you changed into comfier clothes. Thankfully, this was one place he hadnât invaded, hadnât tainted, with his own personal poison to ensure you were haunted by him forever.
You heard the front door open and Natâs voice sing out, realizing she was home earlier than expected as she moved through the apartment. You were perched on the floor of your room, your back resting against the cold, hard wall, and your knees pulled up close against you.
â(Y/N) are you ho- oh my god are you ok?!â She rushed over to you, crouching down to look you in the eyes.
Iâm fine.
You wanted to say, the words stuck on your tongue.
I saw a picture of him and barely felt anything.
You wanted to scream, but it died in your throat.
I finally think Iâm over it, over him.
You thought to yourself, the words sinking you further into the floor.
Instead, you let out a loud sob, unable to hold it in anymore, your chest cleaving in two. As soon as the floodgates opened, it all came out. Your mind raced through everything that ever happened between you - from start to finish, and every beautifully pure detail in between. Your body shook with the ferocity of your tears, Nat moving to sit next to you and pull you tightly into her in an attempt to provide some comfort.
(Natâs POV)
She knew exactly what had happened, that you had seen him. She was sure it was that photo Wanda had uploaded, since there was nothing else that could cause you to break like this since you deleted him from all of your social media, and your life. She had been there every single day, from the moment heâd left you high and dry, to now. Even though you were still healing your broken heart, you had made so much progress.
You had lost weight at the beginning, your pallor looking thin and sickly, you stopped sleeping and eating, and that was when she insisted that you two move out from the tower. She even spoke to Agent Coulson and got you moved to another team - although they werenât the Avengers, they all had their own abilities and worked missions the same way the Avengers did. They werenât as high profile either, being dubbed âThe Silent Knightsâ, so you got a break from the constant media frenzy that used to surround you.
It had worked in your favour that this team was specialized for covert, highly classified missions that relied on stealth, since you and Nat had both had the same...treatments. Where she was the Avengerâs super spy weapon, you went back to your roots with the Knights, enjoying the thrill of the hunt in the cover of darkness.
After a couple of weeks off, away from him and the tower, you had begun to gain some colour. You filled out your clothes a bit better and you begun venturing outside of your shared apartment, even if it was just down to the shop and back. You had even begun to laugh again, a sound that nearly brought tears to her eyes because she feared he had broken you to a point you wouldnât be able to recover from entirely.
She had kept Bruce away from the apartment, not wanting to flaunt her relationship with him in front of you, but you had noticed how his absence had affected her and youâd given her the okay to have him over. You had explained that you were a big girl and that you didnât want to be the one standing between her and her happiness, that just because your heart was broken, she didnât have to suffer alongside you.
Besides, you had to start moving passed it all eventually, and Bruce was lovely, he knew the situation and wouldnât dare bring up his name, so he was safe to you.
As she sat there, cradling you and soothing you, she wondered whether there was going to come a day where you would be able to be truly happy again, a day where the mere sight of him wouldnât reduce you to anything. A day where you were finally indifferent, or at the least unaffected by him.
(Your POV)
You were captive into your head, your mind forcing you to relive those 11 months with him, and the 3 months after that in limbo felt like your own personal brand of torture. You held onto Nat, your fingers curling around her arms as you struggled to regain control, but it was no use. This was it. You had fallen again, your body draining of energy and falling apart at the seams, each memory another blow to your already fragile heart.
I walked through the door with you, the air was cold
But something âbout it felt like home somehow
And I left my scarf there at your sisterâs house
And youâve still got it in your drawer even now
(Four months in)
You collapsed through his door, laughing as he scrambled to pull you back into his arms.
âSteve no, please stop,â breathlessly squealing through his attack, âyou know I hate being tickled!â
âIâm trying to warm you up and get your blood pumping! Iâm helping you doll!â
He laughed, wrapping his body around yours and nuzzling into your neck. The sensation of his skin on yours jolted you away from him, turning to face him.
âI forgot my scarf! I knew I was colder on the way back here than when we went there! You thought I was crazy!â You punched him in the chest, knowing he would barely feel it, âwell I will get it back for you then, Iâm sure Wanda probably picked it up on the way out.â He moved in to kiss you, his lips warm and soft, his arms encircling your waist. It was slow, lingering, your fingers moving up around his neck to play with his hair. You heard a low moan when you did, his grip tightening before you broke apart.
âI think Iâm pretty warmed up now Steve, youâve done well.â You chewed on your lip, savouring the taste of him.
âOh love, I have much better ways to do that...:â His eyes grew hungry, his hands wandering down your body as he pressed his lips against yours, moving you back through the room and kicking the door shut.
**
A week later, you were rifling through Steveâs drawers - wearing nothing but your gym shorts and sports bra - looking for your favourite shirt of his to steal, when your hands brushed over familiar fabric. You pulled your scarf out of his drawer, staring quizzically, wondering when heâd picked this up.
âOh, Iâve been meaning to give that back to you. I kept forgetting.â
He was standing in the doorway, fresh from his morning run, his hand nervously running through his hair.
âOr, maybe you keep it because you secretly want to wear my pretty red and blue floral scarf?â You wiggled your eyebrows at him, snickering at the image in your head. âThe red and blue are your colours after all, Captain America.â
He strode up to you, his hand pulling the scarf - and you - to him, âI also wear white, Red Widow.â He pressed a soft kiss to your cheek while you feigned shock at him using your spy name, before sauntering off into the adjoined bathroom, allowing the door to remain ajar so you could see him strip his shirt off through the mirror.
âYou know, between you stealing my shirts, and leaving your own stuff here, itâs as if we live together at this point.â
He stared at you through the mirror, a smirk playing on his lips as you shook your head at him.
âYou know, maybe this is home somehow. Not the room, just wherever you are.â You moved through to the bathroom, poking your head through to see him in the shower.
He opened the shower door, âyou know what I think?â A mischievous grin broke across his face as he launched himself out and wrapped his arms around your torso, lifting you and carrying you towards the shower.
âSTEVE WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!â You squealed in delight, your arms flailing to grab a hold of anything that might give you some leverage. He smoothly reoriented himself to pin your legs, edging towards the water.
âI need a shower, and I want you to help me.â
You relented, nipping at his lips, âarenât you a big boy? Why do you need my help?â
âMaybe I just want some company.â His fingers brushed under the waistband of your pants, tickling your skin. âIâll deal with these in a minute.â
He stepped into the warm steam, putting you down gently while his mouth worked its way over your neck, up to your jaw, before finally giving in and meeting your mouth. His hands roamed your body, grabbing your waist harder as he grew more frenzied in his actions.
You both had a really, really good shower that morning, feeling right at home.
Oh your sweet disposition and my wide-eyed gaze
Weâre singing in the car getting lost upstate
Autumn leaves falling down like pieces into place
And I can picture it after all these days
(2 months in)
You snuck a glance over at Steve, the sunlight gleaming onto his face - highlighting his soft, pouty lips, his long eyelashes framing his crystal blue eyes, and his golden hair creating a halo around his head. His brow slightly furrowed in concentration as he absentmindedly ran his fingers over his lips, driving one-handed in his usual fashion.
You heard the familiar chords of the electric guitar fill the speakers of the car as you leapt with joy in the passenger seat, causing Steve to yell in panic.
âWhat, are you ok?!â
You stared at him, eyes wide with joy, âitâs my song Steve!! Sing with me!â
He chuckled beside you, shaking his head as you turned the volume up, drowning out the world.
You swung your head wildly with the beat, pointing over to him, âIâm going out tonight, Iâm feeling alright, gonna let it all hang out. Wanna make some noise, really raise my voice, yeah I wanna scream and shout.â
You winked at him, stomping your feet to the rhythm, âcome on, sing with me!â
âThe best thing about being a woman, is the prerogative to have a little fun, yeah!â
You belted out the chorus, looking over to see Steve staring at you in his usual sweet way as he held his hand up like he was holding a microphone - belting out the chorus alongside you.
âOh oh oh, like totally crazy, forget Iâm a lady, menâs shirts short skirts, oh oh oh oh really go wild yeah doinâ it in style,â
You squealed in delight, his moves exaggerated - rolling and shaking his shoulders, slightly moving his head from side to side - as if he were performing to a stadium instead of just a girl in a car, his eyes shining with glee.
âoh oh oh get in the action, feel the attraction, colour my hair, do what I dare, oh oh oh I wanna be free yeah, to feel the way I feel,â
With the final line, you both turned to stare at each other, holding your invisible microphones, deadpan expressions on your faces, âman, I feel like a woman!â
You threw yourself back into your seat, lost in a fit of laughter over the Captain breaking out into a Shania Twain song - âMan! I Feel Like a Womanâ no less. You would remember this moment forever.
And I know itâs long gone
And that magicâs not here no more
And I might be okay
But Iâm not fine at all
(9 months in)
âNo please Nat, donât go talk to him. If he wanted to see me, or even talk to me, he would.â
â(Y/N), heâs being an ass! He canât treat you like this just because he feels like it. Youâve been there for him for months now, and what, just because heâs âbusyâ he has no time for you anymore?â
âLook, I am more hurt by this than I ever thought Iâd feel, even more so because I never thought he would be the one to hurt me. But he has, and I donât know what I did to deserve it but whatever we had is gone.â
âYou seem awfully okay to just let this goâŚâ
âIâm not okay, Iâm not even remotely okay or fine or managing at all. But I have to anyway, because if heâs too busy to even let me know heâs okay then I can take the hint.â
âYou shouldnât have to just take it. Heâs the one thatâs pulling away for no reason and you shouldnât be expected to just accept that.â
âI have to. If he wants to talk, he knows where to find me.â
âCause there we are again on that little town street
You almost ran the red âcause you were looking over at me
Wind in my hair, I was there, I remember it all too well
(2 months in cont.)
Your laugh echoed through the car, almost drowned out by the wind whistling through and moving your hair in wild directions, your eyes taking in the small town shops and the way the light shone through the trees to cast an earthly glow on the entire place.
You felt him slip his hand underneath yours, his fingers intertwining, squeezing gently. You turned back to him, meeting his eyes, your lips parted slightly in surprise before melting into a smile at the sight of him smiling at you.
You bit your lip gently, feeling his thumb move over your skin, sending shivers across every nerve, butterflies erupting through every part of your stomach. You glanced down, your mind wanting to make sure this was real, before you were jolted in your seat as the car came to a halt.
He erupted into deep, raucous laughter when he realized that heâd narrowly avoided running a red light, a little old lady glaring at the two of you in your own personal bubble, oblivious to the outside world when you had each other.
Photo album on the counter, your cheeks were turning red
You used to be a little kid with glasses in a twin sized bed
And your motherâs telling stories about you on the tee ball team
You tell me âbout your past, thinking your future was me
(6 months in)
One night, you were sat on the barstool next to Steve, leaning forward into his side, looking through some old photos that he had found of himself, as well as photos of you when you were younger. He didnât have many, seeing as it was the 40âs and after his parents died and he went to war, there wasnât really anyone around to keep things.
He treasured what he had, regaling stories of times when he and Bucky would get into mischief, or when the two of them were so inseparable that he had tried out for the school baseball team just to be with Bucky.
You stared at his profile, taking in every feature - big and small - while he told you of the time that little seven-year-old Steve tried to jump from his twin bed across the room onto his dresser. He had missed and hit the floor with a thud so loud that his mother had raced in fearing he was unconscious. He had broken his glasses, thankful they were intended to be temporary anyway, and he had cut his lip open on his teeth, causing blood to run down his chin and stain his clothes. Heâd never heard the end of it from Bucky.
Sliding your photo album forward, his eyes roaming over every single photo and page - studying your child self and commenting about how cute you were, how similar you looked to your mother, how much you had and hadnât changed - you began telling your own childhood stories.
You rarely opened up to people, having the experience that they always left once they got what they wanted from you, but you slowly began to trust that maybe - just maybe - Steve might be the one who changes your mind, breaks through your walls, and will stick around to be part of your future. Whatever that was, however it happened, you didnât care so long as he was in it.
And I know itâs long gone
And there was nothing else I could do
And I forget about you long enough
To forget why I needed to
(3 months postâŚ)
As much as you hated to admit it, Nat was right. Being in a new apartment, away from the tower, was good for you. Eating became a regular habit, as did sleep, and you had even moved teams so you didnât have to see or speak to Steve anymore.
You had deleted him from all of your social media the day youâd started seeing posts of him with Sharon Carter, not wanting to subject yourself to the torture of wondering what she had that you didnât - why she was good enough for him. Why giving yourself over to him, giving whatever he wanted of you to him without a second thought, wasnât enough.
Soon, you noticed youâd go a day without him entering your mind, then two, then three. Soon, you were giving him a passing thought at best - focused on your team, missions, and life. Even though you hadnât gotten any answers, or apology, regardless of the times youâd reached out in hopes of getting one, you had begun to accept that there was nothing else you could do. This was his choice, to cut you out of his life as if you were a malignant tumour that was killing him, and you didnât need someone like that in your life.
Every now and then, your mind would wander back to him and youâd think of the good times you had, enjoying the untainted memories before you remembered why you were in this position in the first place - why you needed to forget him at all. You deserved better. That was what mattered, and that was why you were determined to forget him, because he didnât give you any sparing thought when he was cutting into your heart and ripping it to pieces with his silence. Why should you have to continue to suffer for someone elseâs choice. You donât. You deserved better.
You just had to try and remind yourself of that every time you remembered his face, and why you were no longer a part of each otherâs lives. You deserved better.
Cause there we are again in the middle of the night
Weâre dancing around the kitchen in the refrigerator light
Down the stairs, I was there, I remember it all too well, yeah
(7 months in)
You had wandered from your room, seeking out a hot cup of tea in the hopes it would calm your mind enough to sleep. You sat on the very same barstool as the night you had reminisced about your past with Steve, letting the memory relax your body, closing your eyes as the heat flooded through your cold limbs.
âCanât sleep?â
His low voice, so familiar you didnât need to look to know he was already sitting next to you, broke through your trip down memory lane.
âNope, another night of exhaustion and an inability to make up for it. But hey, itâs only 1.30am, I still have time to get in a couple of hours if this tea does its job.â
You smiled weakly, sparing a glance at him while he moved to open the fridge - always on the hunt for food - taking the opportunity to gaze at his form: the way his sweat pants hung low on his hips, his shirt stretching across his shoulders, the way his soft hair was standing haphazardly on end, sleep making him look at least 50 years younger than his 95 years old and almost as if he were vulnerable.
He turned around to face you, sighing with a small smile on his beautiful, soft lips, âok, come here.â
You quietly put your mug on the counter, shifting off of the barstool and moved into Steveâs open arms. You wrapped your arms around his neck, him hugging your waist, nuzzling into your neck as he began to slowly rock. He pulled away ever so slightly to rest his forehead against yours, moving his arms to rest on your hips, licking his lips.
You both were turning in a small circle, illuminated by the fridge light, the only sound being your slow breaths and your heartbeat thundering in your chest. You heard him begin to hum, one of his favourite slow tunes from the 40âs, letting the sound wash over you and relax your mind. Your eyes grew heavy, laying your head against his chest as he kissed your forehead, his steady heartbeat syncing with yours.
âYou know I love you right? Youâre my best friend, and I know I said that I donât think you can love a person unless theyâre family or a lover, but you were right. You can love someone more than other people, you love them because you treasure them above all else, without wanting it to be romantic. So, I love you (Y/N).â
You felt a small smile tug at the corner of your mouth. âI know I said that, but I donât expect you to tell me you love me just because I believe in that kind of love. You donât and thatâs fine, because I know you care about me whether you say it or not.â You let out a long breath, âbut in any case, I love you too Steve. Youâre my best friend, and I donât know what Iâd do if I didnât have you in my life.â
You felt him breathe a sigh of relief, his fingers moving under your shirt to trace small circles in the sensitive skin above your hips.
âIâll always be here. I have nightmares about you leaving me, you know. I wake up panicked, scared youâre really gone.â His hands tightened around you, his voice low and laced with anxiety. âI actually had one tonight, which is why I was up. Iâm glad I have you right here with me right now.â
âYou know you could always call me or come and find me if youâre having nightmares. Iâm always here for you.â
The cold from your body was gone, replaced with his warmth as you nestled yourself further into him, soon begging sleep to let you have just five more minutes.
Maybe we got lost in translation
Maybe I asked for too much
But maybe this thing was a masterpiece
âTil you tore it all up
Running scared, I was there, I remember it all too well
(1 month postâŚ)
Heâd gone radio silent again, only one week after youâd gone to the movies together - his attempt at repairing the rift in your friendship. Relationship? Whatever this was. The pain buried itself deep inside your heart, constricting your chest, as your finger hovered over his name in your phone.
Should you bother texting him anymore? All you got were limited responses, if any at all, but you just couldnât forget about everything that had happened between you - dropping it as if it never existed in the first place.
Itâs as if he got scared of the idea of being close again and high-tailed it out of there, as if you had the plague. Not only had he hurt you the first time he did this, but heâd tried since to hope youâd forgive him, to earn back your trust. You had given him both, even though fear and experience told you to run for the hills and not look back, knowing that your friendship was worth fighting for.
The fact that history repeated itself only told you that whatever you were - whatever you had - heâd torn up, thrown away, burned. What you thought was a masterpiece, was just scrap paper to him. You began to look back over your friendship, trying to pinpoint moments where you might have gotten confused and misunderstood his friendly intentions, or maybe times when youâd asked too much of him, but the only things that came to mind were the times when heâd sought you out - which was every single time - to hold you, kiss you, touch you, and tell you he loved you. There was no mistaking that, right?
Hey, you call me up again just to break me like a promise
So casually cruel in the name of being honest
Iâm a crumpled up piece of paper lying here
âCause I remember it all, all, all too well
(10 months in)
âNat, he texted me. I mean, he didnât come and see me or call me, but he messaged me, asking to go to the movies. He said he misses me. He said he loves me.â
You were staring at your phone in your hand, looking at the text message as if it were physically hurting you, like a hot stone burning into your palm.
âWell what do you want to do?â
You put the phone face down on her bed, throwing yourself into her pillows. âI just want to ignore him, hope that he suffers even a smidgen of what he put me through last month, but I canât say no. God, why canât I say no!â
You felt silent tears sliding down your face, thinking back over the way heâd so casually just dropped you from his life without so much as a message or anything. You ceased to exist before you snapped and confronted him. Itâd been hours of arguing, yelling, him insisting that he was only doing it out of concern that you were getting feelings for him and he was trying to spare you.
**
âSteve, Iâve been upfront and honest with you this entire time, and Iâve never made a move on you or done anything unless you initiated it. You hold my hand because you want to, you hug me because you want to, you told me you loved me because you wanted to. I never initiated any of that because I knew you wanted to keep your distance, that youâre not an overly affectionate and emotional person, which is fine by me, just donât go putting this on me when it was your decision to cut me out.â
âItâs as if you want me to be two different people! You say you want Steve Rogers but then get mad when Iâm not Captain America. I canât be both at the same time, you canât just pick and choose the parts of me you like.â
âSince when have I ever asked you to choose? I chose you - all of you - from the get go. Not once have I done anything to have you question that, or at least youâve never brought it up to me. Everything was fine until you decided it wasnât, Steve, so I canât play this game. You hurt me, you donât get to decide you didnât, and you donât see how thatâs your problem.â
You had stalked away, hiding away behind your locked door, buried under your blanket as you crumpled into a sobbing mess.
**
The unanswered text message taunted you, before you finally relented and said yes. The whole time, heâd held your hand, grabbed your waist, and made sure that in one way or another, he was always in contact with your skin. When youâd gotten uncomfortable in the theatre seats, heâd shifted the arm rest up, pulling your feet onto his lap as he lazily drew small circles over your thighs.
Heâd wrapped his arm around your shoulder when youâd gotten cold, laying small kisses on your cheek and temple, his attention warming the chill you had been trying to maintain in defence. Heâd told you he loved you as he dropped you at your door, insistent on walking you even though you lived in the same building, and as soon as heâd left, your phone lit up with a message from him saying goodnight and reminding you he loved you once more.
You began to question what his love meant, fear creeping into your skin as you debated whether his declarations of love were starting to mean something more to him.
Time wonât fly, itâs like Iâm paralyzed by it
Iâd like to be my old self again but Iâm still trying to find it
After plaid shirt days and nights when you made me your own
Now you mail back my things and I walk home alone
(2 months postâŚ)
You were packing up the last of your things, glancing around at the stark, bare room in shock. This had been your home for so long and now it was time to go. Of course, you couldnât stay anymore when it meant being around him, but you didnât want to leave your home and your family just because of him. Nat had been insistent that you two needed to move out together, calling your apartment the âWidowâs Webâ in an attempt to get your more excited, but you were grieving. The loss of your friend, and the loss of your home.
You were putting the last of your clothes in a box when you pulled out a dark blue plaid shirt, instantly recognizing it as one of his. Your chest caved, remembering how many nights you spent wrapped up in it, the smell of him relaxing you into a deep sleep devoid of your own nightmares. Now, you had to find your own ways to cope, now with your normal nightmares and the ones heâd induced.
You folded it up, placing it on top of the empty dresser as Wanda poked her head in the open door.
âHiya (Y/N)! Wow, itâs really happening. Itâs so strange to think we wonât be neighbours in the tower anymore.â
She put some things down on the stripped bed, hugging you hard, fighting back her own tears.
âIâm so sorry you felt you had to leave to find yourself again lovely.â
You pulled away, nodding for fear that youâd begin crying if you opened your mouth. You noticed the pile of things sheâd placed on the bed, your throat closing up.
âOh, yeah. Steve gave me these to give to you. I wouldnât of given in if it had been stupid stuff, but I noticed it was all yours and I thought youâd want it back before you left.â
âThank you Wanda.â You slowly grabbed everything off the bed, handling it as if it were poison, and dropped it into the last box, not caring that it was meant for clothes. You wanted it all out of your sight unless you wanted to spend another hour crying your eyes out.
Wanda pulled you into another hug, your body paralyzed as your mind was lost to thoughts of Steve, and what had happened over the last year - almost a year. You hadnât even gotten through a year of true friendship before heâd disappeared from your life. No rhyme or reason except being too busy. Even that excuse had faded into nothingness. Silence was what your friendship with him was now. Just devoid of everything except the deafening silence.
But you keep my old scarf from that very first week
âCause it reminds you of innocence and it smells like me
You canât get rid of it âcause you remember it all too well, yeah
You had noticed in the months since Steve froze you out, the only thing you hadnât found was your scarf. You thought maybe he had kept it, wanting a piece of you with him as if he still cared. But anyone who cared about anyone wouldnât do what he did, so heâd have no sentimental reason to keep the scarf.
You guessed youâd misplaced it sometime, putting the absurd idea that Steve might care for you out of your head.
âCause there we are again when I loved you so
Back before you lost the one real thing youâve ever known
It was rare, I was there, I remember it all too well
It had been six months since youâd left the avengers tower, and your dreams were still haunted by his beautiful face, the way heâd throw his head back whenever he laughed, and the way heâd hold you close - always wanting to be touching your skin, hugging you with his hands on your waist, kissing you on your cheeks or temple. You thought back to the countless times heâd said he loved you, sometimes for no reason at all.
You knew you wouldâve gone to war for him if heâd asked. Your love for him wouldâve defied anything, because you trusted in him that he would be true to his words and actions, and that he treasured you just as much as you treasured him.
He had always said that he rarely felt true attachments, scared for them to leave or something to happen to them, and yet he was unable to imagine being without you. Heâd told you over and over that you were one of the most important people in his life, one of the few he loved and one of the only people he ever told he loved. He felt what you had together was rare, and that he wanted to have you in his life forever.
You realized you two had different definitions of what forever meant.
Wind in my hair, you were there, you remember it all
Down the stairs, you were there, you remember it all
It was rare, I was there, I remember it all too well
You had made it through an entire year without Steve in your life, experiencing moments of joy and triumph that were only yours, not poisoned by his presence, You had been on your way home when you saw the photo. It brought back memories you had tried to bury, not wanting to relive his words and touches, his glances and kisses, not wanting to remember the way he said he loved you, and forever. It was rare he said, but evidently not so rare that it was priceless.
You remembered it all too well.

lazarus (2013)Â i just sorta accidentally stumbled onto this series by mistake but its so worth reading. strong female character who (as youâd guess by the title) can come back from the dead and kicks goddamn ass while looking damn good
In a dystopian near-future, government is a quaint concept, resources are coveted, and possession is 100% of the law. A handful of Families rule, jealously guarding what they have and exploiting the Waste who struggle to survive in their domains. Forever Carlyle defends her family's holdings through deception and force as their protector, their Lazarus. Shot dead defending the family home, Forever's day goes downhill from there...Â
east of west (2013)  (hickman idk if youâve heard the name before but hes done a lot of marvel runs here and there) is the same deal as lazarus. i dont know many (if any) people who have read it like the above, but i think thats cause theyâre aimed at more mature âolderâ readers kinda deal. this is also a really good comic series which deals with the four horsemen of the apocalypse and this whole other storyline which is jsut pretty cool and a good ride
This is the world. It is not the one we wanted, but it is the one we deserved. The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse roam the Earth, signaling the End Times for humanity, and our best hope for life, lies in DEATH.
MARVEL

iron man: armor wars (1987)Â this is such a good old school tony run as it shows you (that everyone always seems to overlook or pretend isnt Important) tonys guilt that is constantly weighing him for so many things and his own battle with him self
Millionaire industrialist Tony Stark is an inventive genius who has dedicated all of his enormous financial and intellectual resources to a single guiding principle: the creation of technology for the betterment of humanity. Stark's greatest creation is a modern-day miracle: a suit of form-fitting, strength-enhancing, steel-mesh armor he dons to become the living symbol of his ideals, the Invincible Iron Man! But when Stark discovers that the same technology he used to create the Iron Man armor - technology so secret he didn't even dare patent it - is now in the hands of several deadly super-villains, he feels responsible for the evil they have done with the high-tech tools he unwittingly provided. In the face of objections from his government, friends, colleagues and fellow super heroes, Stark swears to use the power of Iron Man to bring the evil to an end - and to take back what's his. The world's most powerful force for good isn't playing by the rules anymore. And he's coming for them.
the infinity gauntlet (2000)Â soon as avengers infinity wars got announced and thanos started popping up with his gauntlet and infinity stones... i looked this up and was curious. annd wowow what a ride ok thanos is fucking ruthless and this shows it. thing i love about comics is when everyone dies in one whole page... u dont even rlly mind cause u know theyâll be fine somehow lololol #me when reading this (was it still stressful how it all went down? yes)Â
For the dark Titan, Thanos, the Infinity Gauntlet was the Holy Grail, the ultimate prize to be coveted above all else. Now, on the edge of Armageddon and led by the mysterious Adam Warlock, Earth's super heroes join in a desperate attempt to thwart this nihilistic god's insane plunge into galactic self-destruction.
captain america, vol. 1 issue #401 (1992) clint âim an adultâ barton jumps on mopey steves bed and tony walks into a bar despite just overcoming his recent rehab from alcohol just to speak to steve and tells him in this crazy business weâre in, thereâs no one Iâd miss more than you. And I⌠well⌠youâre an inspiration to me, Steve is my goal to make you ship stony (and all its canon ass shit in its beauty)?? youâre goddamn rightÂ
Clint Barton nags Cap into going out to a bar where Steve confesses he has given up on having a normal life to concentrate in his hero activities. Tony Stark arrives unexpectedly and he and Steve hash out their differences going back to the Armor Wars and make up.
tales of suspense, vol. 2 (1992) is possibly hard to find (but iâd be more then willing to buy for presents for the Feels) but ohmYGODDDDDDDD steve talking about tony in his suit and tony talking about steves clear, azure eyes like ok yeah... thats not gay... at all....... stony isnt canon pshaw... Tony Stark and his armor. His wonderful metal suit. The end result of all the technology heâs mastered in his hands the ultimate weapon for good. A good that I can never hope to equal. ... psha...w???   Captain America. Steve. I look at your handsome face⌠into your clear, azure eyes.. and, as ever, I feel the same guilty envy.
captain america: operation rebirth what a good. you get badass sharon carter action, a solid good classic red skull as steves nemesis, and just overall a good captain america read. probably one of my favourite cap trades i have
He was the greatest hero that ever lived. But now the legacy of Steve Rogers had come to an end - the serum that coursed through Captain America's veins killed him. Now, 47 years later, Captain America is brought back to lif e to do battle with evil.Â
deadpool, vol. 1 (1997)Â i have the omnibus and so have only read the first 33 issues plus some specials.... but... lOOK listen... l i s t en ... this is what made me fall in love with wade wilson ok and the reaosn why i enjoyed the deadpool (2016) film so much. because they included so much material from this run in it so well i want to goddamn cry about it (i sometimes do) let me also say though as you can guess... it is wade wilson so suffice to say lolol you gotta be in the mood for it but i highly recommend it
iron man, vol. 3 (1998) first comics i ever read so they hold a special place in my heart. you also get rumiko fujikawa, whom, is probably the only best canon relationship you see tony in in all of 616 to this day. forever salty and bitter over the fact that she just got forgotten about over time. like wades run above, ive only read the first 30 issues of this too so i cant speak of the rest of the run (which i will finish someday i swear it) but was a real good introduction to iron man comics in general and just a good time with cameos from nat (black widow) early on and other known characters pop in and out. shows tonys friendship with carol danvers which!! is!! so!! important!!! and never gets spoken about either after this run much to my knowledge which im always salty over because they both help each other through alcoholism and their struggles. and they both pick each other up when the other has fallen back down to the bottle or is on the brink of doing so.
It's a new beginning for Iron Man as Kurt Busiek and Sean Chen reinvent the Armored Avenger! Tony Stark is back, with a new company, Stark Solutions...but the Mandarin plans to destroy Tony's dreams before they take shape! And if that's not enough, Iron Man must face Firebrand, Whiplash, MODOK, Controller, Fin Fang Foom, Count Nefaria, the Exemplars, Ultimo and the all-new War Machine - while romancing the beautiful Rumiko Fujikawa and protecting his secret identity!Â
black widow, vol. 1 (1999)Â nats first solo run, only 3 issues and highly recommended
Natasha Romanov has always led an exciting life - first as a Cold War-era Soviet spy, followed by her defection to the West. Yelena Belova, the new Black Widow, seeks to claim the mantle she feels was stolen from her Motherland. Trained in the arts of espionage and combat, and anxious to prove herself and eliminate her counterpart, Belova will stop at nothing to achieve her goal.Â
avengers: red zone (2003)Â steve and tony are stupid and literally give up oxygen for one another to live. self sacrificing jackasses. tony doesnt even hesitate ok i hate him so much (really cool storyline though)
When the Red Skull infiltrates the United States government, he authorizes a biological weapon to be released from the peaks of Mount Rushmore, and it is up the Avengers to contain it! Under the direction of creators Geoff Johns and Olivier Coipel, the Avengers face a threat unlike any they've ever faced - then they take on the Red Skull himself!
secret war (2004)Â Starring Wolverine, Spider-Man, Daredevil, Captain America, Black Widow, Luke Cage and more! When Nick Fury discovers a disturbing connection between many of Marvel's deadliest villains, he assembles a ragtag team of the MU's most misunderstood heroes for a secret mission to do what the U.S. government could never allow - eventually leading to a super-powered blowout between a who's who of NYC heroes and mutants!
cable and deadpool (2004) i think this was my first introduction to wade (either this or his first vol.) and how gay him and nathan summers are like wowow what a duo ok. shipping aside these guys have such hilarious, great dynamics together throughout the whole series and im forever salty we didnt get more of them (50 issues wasnt enough ok)
Wade Wilson is Deadpool, the mentally disturbed merc with a mouth and a healing factor that just won't quit! Nathan Summers is Cable, the messianic mutant from the future who plans to save us all - whether we want him to or not! And now, this disparate duo has just become Marvel's oddest couple - because they're stuck with one another! Can two grown men armed to the teeth with high-rech weaponry coexist without driving each other crazy?! It's action, adventure, time travel, dimension-hopping, black humor, black-ops, Bea Arthur, chimichangas - yes, that whole thing started here - and lots of gunfire as two of Marvel's fan-favorite antiheroes take on each other and everyone else!
new avengers, vol. 1 (2005) steve and tony co-parent a new team after all the core âoriginalâ members of the team parted ways after clints âdeathâ quality stony aside, this run (for the first 20 issues before civil war happened) was such a fun ride and introduced me to a lot of other characters i hadnt read much of before and is probably one of my favourite marvel runs
In the aftermath of Avengers Disassembled come the New Avengers With the Avengers disbanded following an attack by one of the team's oldest members, a shadowy villain has taken advantage of their absence to initiate his ominous plans. Employing Electro to disrupt the electrical systems of the maximum-security prison known as the Raft, hundreds of super-powered villains are freed to wreak havoc on New York. Without the Avengers to answer the call, a group of heroes must form a makeshift alliance to subdue the rampaging villains and save the city. In the heat of battle, this new team fills the void left by the Avengers' demise - the New Avengers. After shocking the Marvel fans with the series-shattering "Avengers Disassembled" storyline, writer Brian Michael Bendis and artist David Finch begin an all-new chapter in Marvel Comics history with New Avengers. Featuring a cast of fan-favorite characters including Wolverine, Captain America, Iron Man, Spider-Man and Spider-Woman teamed with the hard-edged heroes Luke Cage and the Sentry, New Avengers presents a 21st-century revitalization of the classic Avengers concept. Plus: The mystery of the Sentry revealed. The Avengers try to help the most powerful super hero in the world figure out who he is and where he came from. But will this knowledge destroy the man they're trying to help?
CIVIL WAR TIE INSÂ ok so it goes without saying if you get into marvel comics, civil war is an event that i think you should read just so you have as its one of the biggest and well known events itâs had. the aftermath of it affects 616 massively and its better if you know the gist of what happened. it has 7 core issues which you can read here. iâm just not putting it on my rec list as a rec per say as i am not a fan of how it was written and find it extremely problematic, and ooc for both steve and tony with many of what they say/do. in saying all that i am a fan of some of the tie ins it had (thereâs like 500 million different civil war tie ins m8 its a mess, donât even try to read them all. i just went for my favourite characters and was happy to find they were handled really well)
iron man/captain america: casualties of war (2007)Â a whole issue recapping steve and tonys greatest hits in 616 (when people try to tell me that stony isnt canon i get so goddamn amused because this is the one of many comics i could pull out and school yaâll with)Â
In the midst of Civil War, Captain America and Iron Man meet secretly, one last time, to see if there's any hope of working things out before further tragedy occurs. Don't miss this oversized special that reveals how these two men, once the closest of friends and staunchest of allies, could end up leading opposing armies in the conflict tearing apart the Marvel Universe!
winter soldier: winter kills (2007) remember that time mcu decided to bring in bucky into civil war when he didnt even make an appearance GOOD times buck stops by the city during civil war and stays on the outskirts and decides to school the young avengers on How Shit Gets Done (this issue is one of my favourites bucky wise)
In the midst of the harsh division of the Civil War, James Buchanan Barnes, Captain America's one-time partner Bucky, faces his first Christmas of the 21st century. And faces the truth of the terrible things he was forced to do as the Winter Soldier. As the Marvel Universe braces for the implications of legislation that will forever change the societal status of super heroes, Peter is forced to make an important personal decision - maybe the most important decision of his life. As Civil War tears apart the super hero community, will Spidey stay true to that decision?
captain america, vol. 5 issue #25 (2007) steves âdeathâ
civil war: the confession (2007)Â dont fucking do this to yourself. if youâve read the song of achilles... Â think of this as a single issue comic form of tsoa (i dont want to talk about it ok not ever)
fallen son: the death of captain america (2007) these comics were done so incredibly well. each issue deals with one of the five stages of death and shows you how affected and how shaken every member of the superhero and otherwise was by steves death. peter parkers deals with depression and the black suit comes out and i fucking want to puke just thinking about it. tony âive grown up in the spotlight and known how to play audiences and fake it and show im Fineâ stark cant even speak on the podium and has to step away and is shaking and im emo go away

MARVEL - CONTINUED
captain america, vol. 5 issues #26-50 (2007) after steves death... there is no longer a captain america. that is, until... james buchanan barnes decides to pick up the mantle (after much coaxing and support from tony, sam, nat and sharon) and continue steves legacy.... though... he does things a little different. he uses guns and the villians literally shit themselves its fucking hilarious. crossbones i think at one point straight up just yells at him saying CAPTAIN AMERICA DOESNT USE GUNS! âthis captain america doesâ my hero uwu i love this run for a lot of reasons... it was the first time i got to see buckynat and learn their origins from the red room, you get to see their dynamics in current day and how well they still work together, tony and bucky have very good scenes together and you get to see a letter steve left tony asking him to look after bucky (fuck dont talk to me about how steve... despite everything that they were going through during civil war... steve still entrusted tony with the one thing that means everything to him since he first became captain america... his friend, his once sidekick, his bucky) to save bucky from himself and dont come near me ok. you also get bucky and sam wilson working together which đđđ good fcking lord ok look at this Quality Content the only compliant i have about these issues is the treatment of sharon carter with what they ended up doing to her yikes
In the aftermath of the fabled hero's assassination, Agent 13, Bucky Barnes, the Falcon, Black Widow, and Iron Man come together again in a desperate attempt to keep his dream alive. But the collapse of Steve Rogers' dream was merely the first step in the wicked machinations of the Red Skull, who is determined to see the death of America follow soon after the death of the Captain. As the Skull's master plan kicks into motion, and chaos begins to take hold of the United States, only one man stands in its way - but is he up to the task? Freed from the psychosis that transformed him into the relentless mercenary known as the Winter Soldier, Bucky Barnes is called on to live up to the dream in ways he never imagined. Eisner Award-winning writer Ed Brubaker refuses to let up on the action, suspense, and human drama in a tale that ties together all eras of the star-spangled warrior's history. {sidenote: if youâre a bucky fan and want to know more backstory with him in 616, check out the winter soldier arc which is the first 14 issues in this same run}
young avengers, vol. 1 (2005)Â this first vol. is heavily underrated and doesnt get spoken about as much as its following vol. you have lgbt rep with billy & teddy who are just the purest most sweetest beans and you get kate bishop before you meet her in fractions hawkeye and shes just Wonderful

alias (2006)Â Meet Jessica Jones, a former costumed super hero who, in fact, stunk at it. With powers unremarkable in comparison to the great icons of Marvel, Jessica never found her niche. But once she hung up her cape, she was surprised at how quickly she fell out of the spandex loop. Sure, she may hang out with some of the Avengers socially, but she`s not welcome in Avengers Mansion. And she feels the rejection. She`s self-destructive, drinks too much, and has a huge inferiority complex. And did we mention that she's now a Private Investigator who specializes in cases of the super human variety? Mythos revisits Steve Rogersâ transformation from a weakling with a heart of steel to the Sentinel of Liberty! From the mind of Paul Jenkinsâ and the stunning art of Paolo Rivera comes the origin of CAPTAIN AMERICA!
invincible iron man (2008) remember that time tony stark wiped out his goddamn BRAIN to protect the identities of every last superhero he knew? remember when we got pepper as rescue being fucking badass and gorgeous in her own suit?Â
Looking for some old school Iron Man super-heroics? Want to see Shellhead let loose with his repulsors? Filled with page-to-page action, this book shows the Armored Avenger doing what he does best: fighting big name villains armed to the teeth with deadly technology in between jet-setting around the world as billionaire playboy Tony Stark.Â
secret invasion (2008) like civil war, i think this is another marvel event that deserves to be read and should be read if youâd like to understand certain things that follow it in the 616 universe. as well as i did quite enjoy this storyline {sidenote: read secret invasion: the infiltration beforehand if you plan to read this}
spider-woman (2009)Â jessica drews first solo run. you find out her origins and the art is absolutely stunning. definatly worth checking out.
The team of Brian Michael Bendis and Alex Maleev return to a Marvel comic for the first time since their Eisner award-winning run on Daredevil. young allies comics 70th anniversary special (2009)  a really cool buck comic flashing back to his day as bucky and flash-forwarding too bucky!cap

Action! Intrigue! Adventure!
deadpool: suicide kings (2009)Â Deadpool's latest job has gotten him into a world of trouble. Everyone wants a piece of him - and for a crime he didn't commit That's right: Someone's framed Deadpool, and it just might be the same guy who hired him in the first place, a guy who just might be using the mouthy merc as a wild card in a twisted wager. If Wade's going to clear his name and serve up some revenge, he's first got to avoid getting captured - or killed - by some of the Marvel Universe's heaviest hitters: Daredevil, the Punisher, and Spider-Man. Plus, see what happens when Deadpool goes behind the scenes of "Pain Factor" - the reality TV game show so controversial, it's been banned around the world.
deadpool: merc with a mouth (2009)Â It's the Merc with two mouths! Deadpool travels to the Savage Land to retrieve what might be the deadliest bioweapon the universe has ever seen. What is this deadly object? Well, Deadpool's employer is being a little vague about that. Let's just say when the secret is finally revealed, it's enough to throw even the Merc with two Mouths for a loop.
iron man noir (2010)Â Marvel's Noir line ranks among the most intriguing of the alternate-universe superhero reimaginings. Through the lens of Depression-era New York, the likes of Spider-Man, Luke Cage, and Wolverine have a harsher, tougher light cast on their essential characters. Snyder (American Vampire) rips a page from Indiana Jones' notebook and turns Tony Stark into a hard-charging adventurer who must come to terms with a troubled psyche as he races the Nazis for possession of an ancient "metal of the gods." From exploring the deep sea to invading military strongholds, Garcia delivers gritty action to match the drama and darker hues to capture the tone. With appearances by the Noir versions of other Marvel regulars (Sub-Mariner Noir, for instance), this is a fine treat for fans, and although newcomers will enjoy it, too, they should be warned that this isn't Robert Downey Jr.'s Iron Man. The one major drawback, as with so many mainstream collections lately, is its brevity, at only four collected issues.
avengers prime (2010)Â the first time steve and tony properly talk to each other since the events of civil war. basically a brotrip to asgard and shenanigans with naked horseback riding ensues. this is such a fun 5 issue ride 20/10 to recommend one of my favourites
They were friends, brothers and teammates through all of Marvel's greatest adventures, but recent events turned them into the bitterest of enemies. In the wake of the Siege of Asgard Thor, Iron Man and Steve Rogers are brought together on the same side once more, but these great heroes can't truly trust each other yet. They better start soon because something only the Big Three can handle is tearing their world apart. This all-new, grand and dangerous adventure will catapult our heroes into the explosive Heroic Age and will unite comics legend Alan Davis with Avengers scribe Brian Bendis for the very first time. Â Â
black widow: the name of the rose (2010)Â some cute buckynat stuff plus overall just a good natasha story
Natasha Romanoff is not a super hero. And yet as the Black Widow, she manages to hold her own against a world of incredibly powerful enemies and allies. But now someone has tried to kill Natasha and almost succeeded. Now she sets out to find her attacker with no suspects and no leads. Who could be deadly enough to get the drop on Natasha?Â
winter soldier (2012)Â bucks first solo run by brubaker which is highly entertaining with nat along for the ride. when winter soldier (2014) got announced i ran around looking for every comic with buck in it i could get my hands on and this run was such a ride to get an introduction to him in 616 for the first time. we just ignore the shitty writing choices made at the end re: buckynat yes sir we do
He's been Bucky and Captain America - now, James Barnes returns to the role of the Winter Soldier! They're the super-spies of the Marvel Universe - and when ex-Russian sleeper agents awaken, Bucky and the Black Widow must go on the hunt for men trained by the Winter Soldier himself. But when the trail leads to Latveria, Bucky comes face-to-face with Dr. Doom! Can Bucky and the Widow prevent war with Latveria? Can Bucky stop the sleepers he himself trained?Â
hawkeye, vol. 4 (2012)Â for people who donât even read comics... to try and get them into comics? i hand them this. this run is hands down probably one of the best things marvel has ever produced and is the Clint Barton we deserve. just give me a neftlix hawkeye series based on this and i can die happy. the writing is fanfuckingtastic and the art is very well done too. we get kate bishop fighting alongside clint and you get lucky aka pizza dog (for who has a whole issue of a Day in the life of, its fab) you get being reminded that as much as 616 likes to forget about it... clint barton is canonically deaf and does in fact know sign language and just... just read this. if you only read one thing off this entire list? make it this
The second Hawkeye ongoing series by Matt Fraction and David Aja, the creative team behind Immortal Iron Fist. The legendary superhero during his time when he is NOT being an Avenger. Clint Barton becomes a landlord and a pet owner, but in the process makes some deadly enemies. Plus, can he balance a relationship and a friendship with a certain red-headed Russian spy, ex-wife, and flirtatiousfemme fatale? The series had one Hawkeye Annual. This series lasted 22 issues, after which it was continued into All-New Hawkeye with a new team.Â

black widow (2014) gorgeous art by noto (iconic) + fantastic writing You've seen Black Widow as an Avenger and even an agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. But on her own time she searches for atonement for her past as a KGB assassin - in ways of which those teams just wouldn't approve. The Black Widow goes undercover in Russia, but from its cold streets, the Hand of God reaches out to crush her...and it is as merciless as its name implies. Outmatched by the brute force of a powerful new villain, Natasha faces her deadliest test, and discovers a deadly plot unfolding that spans the entire globe.
hawkeye vs. deadpool (2014)Â wade teams up with clint (team up is a strong word... more like wade keeps harassing clint till he caves and helps) and its highly entertainingÂ
Once upon a time, champions emerged to fight the evil plaguing humanity. They fought for all that was good in the world. They were kind, generous and self-sacrificing. They were heroes. These are not those heroes. Meet Hawkeye: ladies man ("ladies man" because the ladies love to hate this man), mighty marksman and, most importantly, Avenger. He's the only guy on the team without any powers, though. Then there's Deadpool (Mr. Deadpool to you), the regeneratin' degenerate. You can shoot him, stab him, and punch him right in his face, but nothing can keep the Merc with a Mouth down. What do they have in common? Halloween in Brooklyn, and a S.H.I.E.L.D. espionage mystery that has both heroes racing the clock! But will Deadpool and Hawkeye kill each other before they figure it out?
captain marvel, vol. 8 (2014)Â Hero! Pilot! Avenger! Captain Marvel, Earth's Mightiest Hero with an attitude to match, is back and launching headfirst into an all-new ongoing adventure! silk, vol. 1 (2015)Â Cindy Moon exploded out of her bunker and into the Marvel Universe when we first learned that she had been bitten by the same radioactive spider from the first arc of AMAZING SPIDER-MAN. She then went on to save Peter Parker's life (more than once!) and traverse the Spider-Verse alongside Spider-Woman. Now, as SILK, Cindy is on her own in New York City, searching for her past, defining her own future, and webbing up wrong-doers along the way! Robbie Thompson (writer from TV's SUPERNATURAL) fills this new story with his unique blend of antics and feels. Featuring interiors by future superstar Stacey Lee.Â
Iâve been behind in 616 for a few years now, so thereâs probably a lot of good runs iâve left out... but these are just all ones that iâve personally read and have enjoyed os hopefully thereâs a few in here that catch your interest and you also enjoy (616 is currently a mess though with the hydracap fiasco and tonys in a godddamn coma, rhodeys dead and im still salty about everything so dont go there with me #intro post to being a comics fan) also i highly recommend checking out marvel masterworks trades as theyâre great to own and such a blast back to the past
DC
batman: year one (1987)Â A young Bruce Wayne has spent his adolescence and early adulthood, traveling the world so he could hone his body and mind into the perfect fighting and investigative machine. But now as he returns to Gotham City, he must find a way to focus his passion and bring justice to his city. Retracing Batman's first attempts to fight injustice as a costumed vigilante, we watch as he chooses a guise of a giant bat, creates an early bond with a young Lieutenant James Gordon, inadvertently plays a role in the birth of Catwoman, and helps to bring down a corrupt political system that infests Gotham.
batman: a death in the family (1988) fuck dont do this to yourself man. this is the storyline that brutally killed off jason todd in â88 because there werenât enough votes to save him (i will hunt them all down one day i swear on jays name) as painful as it is, i think its worth checking out as you get an insight into jason as a robin and how his death came to be (cry he was too trusting and cared too much and his mother didnt deserve him)
Batman readers were allowed to vote on the outcome of the story and they decided that Robin should die! As the second person to assume the role of Batman's sidekick, Jason Todd had a completely different personality than the original Robin. Rash and prone to ignore Batman's instructions, Jason was always quick to act without regard to consequences. In this fatal instance, Robin ignores his mentor's warnings when he attempts to take on the Joker by himself and pays the ultimate price. Driven by anger with Superman by his side, Batman seeks his vengeance as he looks to end the Joker's threat forever.
batman: knightfall, vol. 1 (1993)Â Villainous Bane breaks the Bat. He releases the inmates of Arkham Asylum to create chaos. Batman must push himself to physical and mental limits and capture Joker, Poison Ivy, Riddler, Killer Croc and more. But is Bruce Wayne still beneath the mask? Original Part One: Broken Bat + Two: Who Rules the Night.
nightwing, vol. 1 (1995)Â Dick briefly considers retiring from being Nightwing forever before family papers uncovered by Alfred reveal a possible link between the murder of the Flying Graysons and the Crown Prince of Kravia.
nightwing, vol. 2 (1996)Â The solo book sees the former Robin trying to be his own man, but often leads him back to his roots with Batman. Having left Bludhaven, Nightwing is now re-inventing himself and rediscovering his passion for crimefighting.
nightwing: alfredâs return (1995)Â After leaving Gotham City at the end of "KnightsQuest," Alfred travels to London. But when a young man who may be his son comes under fire, Alfred calls on Nightwing to mount a rescue mission.
batman: the long halloween (1996)Â this was such a cool, dark story and was a major influence in nolans film regarding the friendship between dent, jim gordon and bruce as batman.Â
Taking place during Batman's early days of crime fighting, this new edition of the classic mystery tells the story of a mysterious killer who murders his prey only on holidays. Working with District Attorney Harvey Dent and Lieutenant James Gordon, Batman races against the calendar as he tries to discover who Holiday is before he claims his next victim each month. A mystery that has the reader continually guessing the identity of the killer, this story also ties into the events that transform Harvey Dent into Batman's deadly enemy, Two-Face.
batman: dark victory (1999)Â The sequel to the critically acclaimed BATMAN: THE LONG HALLOWEEN, DARK VICTORY continues the story of an early time in Batman's life when James Gordon, Harvey Dent, and the vigilante himself were all just beginning their roles as Gotham's protectors.Once a town controlled by organized crime, Gotham City suddenly finds itself being run by lawless freaks, such as Poison Ivy, Mr. Freeze, and the Joker. Witnessing his city's dark evolution, the Dark Knight completes his transformation into the city's greatest defender. He faces multiple threats, including the apparent return of a serial killer called Holiday. Batman's previous investigation of Holiday's killings revealed that more than one person was responsible for the murders. So the question remains: who is committing Holiday's crimes this time? And how many will die before Batman learns the truth?
robin: year one (2000)Â Already entrenched in the Batcave and his official training complete, young Dick Grayson has a world of experience to gain, and a ton of new enemies to make, beginning with the truly insane Mad Hatter! Ultimately, over the course of YEAR ONE, Robin crosses paths with many crazed villains in Batman's Rogues Gallery and makes a new deadly enemy for himself, one whose impact will be felt in the present-day pages of NIGHTWING! ROBIN: YEAR ONE explores many facets of Dick's early days as Robin, including his struggle to live a "normal" childhood while continuing to serve not only as the Boy Wonder, but also as the ward of one of the world's most visible, richest and eligible businessmen, Bruce Wayne. Not unlike BATMAN: YEAR ONE, which became an enduring classic because of its account of a hero in the making, ROBIN: YEAR ONE will reveal how Dick became the hero he is today.
harley quinn, vol. 1 (2000)Â remember that time i was reading a harley quinn comic and dick grayson stopped by and i fell in love and got more into dc and batfam? GOOD TIMES uwu ah, memories. harley has pet hyenes need you know more?Â
HARLEY QUINN is not the story of an honorable woman and her quest for justice. Instead, itâs a love story gone horribly, horribly, horribly wrong, especially in the first extra-length issue, as the Joker's girlfriend must do without Mister J's "calming" influence. And considering just how many sandwiches short of a picnic Harley is, you know this book's going to be wild! Harley is driven to astounding lengths to free her loony lover. And that's just in the first seven pages. What follows is too strange for words, though it does involve one itsy-bitsy cameo by Batman. Just one! Once you see life through the eyes of Harley Quinn, you'll find she makes a lot more sense. Would you believe a little more sense? {sidenote: remember when batman animated writers originally only created harley quinn as a character for the joker to beat on and treat like shit? but then dc fixed themselves by making her more then that and developing her properly and fleshing her out in her on solo fun? good times yes}
batman: gotham knights, issue #17 (2001) bruce officially adopts dick "Matatoa" part 2! Batman battles for his life with the eternal shaman whose destiny includes killing the Dark Knight and taking on his nocturnal crime-fighting duties! It would secure Batman a safe, crime-free Gotham City for all eternity--but at what cost does it all truly come?
batman: hush (2002)Â BATMAN: HUSH is a thrilling mystery of action, intrigue, and deception penned by Jeph Loeb (BATMAN: THE LONG HALLOWEEN) and illustrated by comics superstar Jim Lee (ALL STAR BATMAN & ROBIN, THE BOY WONDER) in which Batman sets out to discover the identity of a mysterious mastermind using the Joker, Riddler, Ra's al Ghul and the Dark Knight's other enemies - and allies - as pawns in a plan to wreak havoc.

batman r.i.p. (2008) Tying into his other blockbuster stories of 2008 Final Crisis and Batman: The Resurrection of Ra's Al Ghul, the legendary Grant Morrison confronts readers with the unthinkable...the death of The Dark Knight. The troubled life of Bruce Wayne seems to spin out of control when his relationship with the mysterious Jezebel Jet deepens. Soon Bruce Wayne drops out completely, having seemingly become the victim of mental illness and abandoning his Batman identity for a life on the streets of Gotham City. Capitalizing on the fall of their greatest foe, the Club of Villains begin a crime spree through the streets of Gotham that threatens to bring the city to its knees.
batman and robin (2009)Â we were the best, richardââ RIP me. after bruces âdeathâ, following the events of battle for the cowl (if youâre a jason todd fan for the love of god pretend its a different jason). dick reluctantly picks up the batman mantle... which also means he picks up batbrat damian wayne alongside him as the latest robin. this run is hands down one of my favourite dc runs and i highly recommend it for various reasons (once again though, jasons written terribly and i hate how dc continuously puts my beautiful boy through so much shit even after they goddamn beat him to death with a crowbar they still manage to treat him more poorly)
The new Dynamic Duo hit the streets with a bang in their new flying Batmobile as they face off against an assemblage of villains called the Circus of Strange. They also tackle their first mission investigating a child who's been abducted by the mysterious Domino Killer. But will everything go smoothly? And who exactly are the new Batman and Robin? The newest era of The Dark Knight begins here!
red robin (2009)Â these are probably my pride and joy of trades that i own (along with all my old school nightwing trades) and took me forever to get, but so worth the running around. tim drakes first (and so far only run you facists dc) solo seriesÂ
Following the aftermath of BATTLE FOR THE COWL, a new Batman watches over Gotham City. But not everyone is ready to give up on the old one. Someone believes that Bruce Wayne may still be alive...and that someone is Red Robin. But who is wearing the Red Robin costume, and why is he traveling the globe looking for a dead man? Whoever he is, he's not alone in his search and has been targeted by the League of Assassins. What does Ra's al Ghul want with Red Robin? Why are members of the League of Assassins being targeted for death? And what happened to the life Red Robin left behind?
gotham city sirens (2009)Â such an underrated run and such a goodÂ
This all-new series features the bad girls of Gotham City! Catwoman, Poison Ivy and Harley Quinn are tired of playing by other people's rules regardless of which side of the law they're on. These tough ladies have a new agenda that's all their own, and they'll use any means necessary to pursue it. But can they get along and work as a team? And who will get hurt along the way? DETECTIVE COMICS and STREETS OF GOTHAM writer Paul Dini kicks off this brand-new ongoing series with amazing artwork by Guillem March
batman: under the red hood (2011)Â jason todd jason todd jason todd one of the few good (any) jason todd based story-lines that treat him well and give you a solid read story wise (i also highly recommend checking out the 2010 film, jensen ackles voices jay and does an amazing job)Â
Batman is confronted with a hidden face from the past â itâs the return of the vigilante Red Hood who appears to be Batmanâs one-time partner Jason Todd, the same Jason Todd that died many years ago. But the Red Hoodâs violent ways pit him against the Dark Knight in his hunt for the very person responsible for his death: The Joker.
red hood: lost days (2010)Â ignore what they did to him with talia it was hella yikes i pretend it doesnt exist cause its goddamn gross and not at all ok otherwise highly recommend if you want more quality jason todd
After his death at the hands of The Joker, Jason Todd was resurrected by Batmanâs foe Raâs al Ghul as a weapon against The Dark Knight. Now, learn what secret events led Jason on his eventual path of death and destruction as he tours the DC Universe learning dangerous skills in an effort to find his way in a world that left him behind.Â
batwoman: elegy A new era begins as Batwoman is unleashed on Gotham City! Marked by the blood-red bat emblem, Kate Kane is a soldier fighting her own private war - one that began years ago and haunts her every waking moment. In this first tale, Batwoman battles a madwoman known only as Alice, inspired by Alice in Wonderland, who sees her life as a fairy tale and everyone around her as expendable extras! Batwoman must stop Alice from unleashing a toxic death cloud over all of Gotham City -- but Alice has more up her sleeve than just poison, and Batwoman's life will never ever be the same again. Also, witness the origin of Batwoman in the shocking and tragic story "Go," in which young Kate Kane and her family are kidnapped by terrorists, and Kate's life - and the lives of her family - will never be the same! (did i mostly put this here so hira doesnt kick my ass? yes. is it also worth checking out though? also yes)
blackest night (2009)Â i reread this again after i binged some green lantern and lololol it made x100 more sense. however, its not required, and is a pretty cool story even if you arenât familiar with how gl verse works.Â
Throughout the decades, death has plagued the DC Universe and taken the lives of heroes and villains alike. But to what end? As the War between the different colored Lantern Corps rages on, the prophecy of the Blackest Night descends and it's up to Hal Jordan and the Green Lantern Corps to lead DC's greatest champions in a battle to save the Universe from an army of undead Black Lanterns made up of fallen Green Lanterns and DC's deceased heroes and villains.  also the batman tie ins were great too
batman: the black mirror (2011)Â one of my favourite dick!batman stories as its also incredibly dark and gritty
In "The Black Mirror," a series of brutal murders pushes Batman's detective skills to the limit and forces him to confront one of Gotham City's oldest evils. Helpless and trapped in the deadly Mirror House, Batman must fight for his life against one of Gotham City's oldest and most powerful evils! Then, in a second story called "Hungry City," the corpse of a killer whale shows up on the floor of one of Gotham City's foremost banks. The event begins a strange and deadly mystery that will bring Batman face-to-face with the new, terrifying faces of organized crime in Gotham.
batman: gates of gotham (2011)Â more quality dick!batman plus quality batfam and a classic original enthralling story
When a mystery as old as Gotham City itself surfaces, Batman assembles a team of his greatest detectives â including Red Robin, Owlman, I-Ching and others â to investigate this startling new enigma. As clues are discovered and the mystery deepens, Batmanâs team soon finds itself on a journey that explores different eras in Gothamâs history and touches upon notable Gotham families including the Waynes, Kanes, and Elliotts.
batman, vol. 2 (2011) this was part of dcs new52 relaunch & my intro to dc and batman. the court of owls was an amazing story-line and executed so well as problematic as a lot of runs in new52 were and things in this run too, overall i recommend it for anyone wanting to get to know bruce and the batfam better
After a series of brutal murders rocks Gotham City, Batman begins to realize that perhaps these crimes go far deeper than appearances suggest. As the Caped Crusader begins to unravel this deadly mystery, he discovers a conspiracy going back to his youth and beyond to the origins of the city he's sworn to protect. Could the Court of Owls, once thought to be nothing more than an urban legend, be behind the crime and corruption? Or is Bruce Wayne losing his grip on sanity and falling prey to the pressures of his war on crime?

Left standing is an unexpected new Green Lantern in town: Sinestro! And now, this renegade GL has set a course for Korugar with one purpose: To free his homeworld from the scourge of his own Sinestro Corps, with the not-so-willing help of Hal Jordan!
rebirth (2016) brings us to the latest relaunch ârebirthâ of which i am extremely behind whoops but i can tell you right now that basically every title in this relaunch is worth checking out (i only read a few issues of nightwing, green arrow and batman but theyâre all worth checking out my guy)
