After finishing BOTL, I have to say - the fanon interpretations of Nico are sooooooo……yikes. I’ve been away from canon for so long that I forgot, but he’s not like. A sniveling shy little ooby baby. Like he’s 11 but he acts like he’s 15-16. He’s had to grow up way too fast and it shows in how he’s awkward around people his age, awkward around people in general. He’s angry, he’s capable of massive anger, but he doesn’t hate people, he doesn’t hate being around people. He’s distrustful because he’s been burned so many times in just, like, 8 short months. He lost his sister and learned that his hero betrayed him and found out his father makes him an outcast and that even the one place he was meant to belong won’t accept him. Of course he’s angry. Of course he’s hurt.
But he’s not whiny. He’s not overly emo, at least not in BOTL. The reasons for what he does and why he behaves the way he does are valid and understandable.
It’s interesting. I love his canon character so much more than I remember. I just wish fanon would stop getting it wrong.
#I am 100% vagueing about myself when I was 13 and writing cringey emo Nico fic#but also like. kudos to you for writing and creating in fandom at all and all power to everyone who has HCs and stuff#but his canon character is so under represented in fandom. people who claim Nico is an introvert are the ones I’m most wary of#anyway. I hope I do his character justice in my fics and I hope that people see the actual canon influences.#pjo#nico di angelo#battle of the labyrinth#I love this kid#I wanna ruffle his hair#it’s so interesting to me to see that evolution in myself too#when I was 10-12 reading the books I wanted to BE Nico#which was why I wrote his so horrendously OOC. he was a self insert to me.#but now I see him as this poor little kid who’s been through so much. I wanna wipe the dirt off his face#and Pat his head and annoy the fuck outta him and make sure he’s okay#it’s so weird#to feel like. paternal. over fuckin WORDS ON A PAGE#weirdo (at myself)

We talk about the whole “dead moms” thing in the Riordanverse but no one brings up the bad dads
[PJO]
1)Percy’s dad literally told him he wished Percy hadn’t been born, the first time they talked
2)Annabeth’s dad was always at work +neglected her +kinda chose his other family over her
3)didn’t Grover’s dad die searching for Pan?
4)Thalia’s dad always ignored her and never answered her prayers until Athena interfered in Titan’s Curse
5)Nico’s father literally told him he wished Nico had died instead because he liked Bianca better (definitely not Hades’s best moment)
6)Rachel’s dad is an a$$hole
[HoO]
7)Jason didn’t meet his dad until he was fighting in Athens, age 16
8)Leo didn’t meet his dad until he was 15 and I’m pretty sure he didn’t see him again after that either
9)Piper’s dad always neglects her and in Lost Hero she said he usually gets distracted after max 30 seconds of talking to her
10)Hazel’s dad only appeared once when she was 13 after having abandoned her and her mom with a curse
11)Frank’s dad gave him a spear and a death mission at 16 first time he saw him and for Riordanverse standards that’s great
12)Reyna’s dad went insane and she had to kill him
[ToA]
13)Meg’s dad was murdered when she was 5 as punishment and then Nero abused the living sh!t out of her
14)Lavinia felt she was a disappointment to her dad for refusing to continue the family tradition/business of dancing
15)Lester talks many times about how Zeus abused and manipulated him
[Magnus Chase]
16)Magnus only meets his dad twice and it’s all supposed to be fine
17)Samirah’s father is a horrible megalomaniac trickster who wanted to control his children and willed her to die in Hammer Of Thor
18)Alex’s dad is an a$$hole
19)Hearthstone’s dad is a monster both literally and metaphorically
20)Blitzen’s dad is dead
21)Mallory’s dad was alcoholic and abusive
22)T.J. died because, due to his father, he couldn’t refuse a challenge and then went another 150 years before meeting Tyr
I haven’t read the Kane Chronicles yet (I’m planning to) but there seems to be a pattern in the rest of his books
Shout out to Silena’s dad. He had a pastry shop. Must have been handsome cause he got with the literal goddess of love. Sent his daughter pastries at camp when she was sad. The only good dad in these books.

I think some of the problem in tsats (other than a bunch of canon things being thrown out the window) is that the age range is for 10 to 14 year olds and focus is on building a romantic relationship…
Like it’s kinda missing the fun adventurous side of pjo and feels more like a lecture on how to date someone who’s (apparently) you’re complete opposite.
For like 12 year olds. (The core readers)
Kids read fantasy to live in the story with the characters for a while. Not to listen to a ton of romantic advice. I’m only two years out of the age range and I still felt like the story was talking to the audience the entire time in a way the pjo books don’t. Hoo and ton didn’t even really do that.
I think that’s part of what made it not fun to read.
There was a lot of things readers wanted to see: Like how the campers react to Nico now. What friends Nico has made outside his boyfriends cabin. What Nico thinks about Reyna joining the hunters. Nico thinking about Hazel and that if he dies in Tartarus he’ll never be able to see her again. Also nico just never finds out where Jason’s soul went??
It feels like the focus of the book is to see how much lgbt rep they can shove in instead of actual plot. Like, they literally made a list of it before the book was out 😭😭 I mean I understand having the representation and romantic stuff obviously but not when it’s detrimental to plot lines and almost THE COMPLETE FOCUS the entire time.
Like, it’s called ‘A Nico di Angelo adventure’ and all his other important relationships are tossed out for a slightly one-dimensional boyfriend….
There were too many loose ends just to focus on a underdeveloped romance.

Okay, but I actually am a Nico apologist, and I'm not sorry. To me, this kid did nothing wrong ever. Maybe it's because I didn't read HoH, but, I'm sorry PJO age is just how old Nico is to me, which menas by the end of HoH, he's, like 14. IDK about TOA, but to me, he's 14 at the oldest and 10 when the books begin.
So, when I look at any of the "bad" things Nico does through that lens, combined with what I know of canon, I just can't accept he did something wrong. He was a kid, who trusted the older people around him to know better and do the right thing and know what was best for everyone.
"But he betrayed Percy, he took him to Hades" - Yes, he trusted that Hades, his father, would be honest and trust-worthy and do the right thing. He trusted that his father would keep his word. He's also 12 and has very little reason to believe otherwise, considering he has no memory of his past and no reason to suspect his dad would want him, a 12 year old, to be the prophecy child.
"He didn't tell Percy about Camp Jupiter or his past"- Yes, he was told not to, i'm pretty sure by multiple people. He trusted that those people had a good reason to keep Camp Jupiter a secret, and how exactly is he supposed to tell Percy he lost his memories? What happens when Percy asks him stuff he doesn't know the answer to? How well did he even know Percy? What? He's supposed to tell him oh, hey, you're actually a Greek demigod, the son of Poseidon, and the only person you remember is your girlfriend Annabeth? Why should that ever fall to a socially awkward 13 or 14 year old, depending on the age he is? and how does he explain why Percy can't remember any of this?
"He got mad at Percy after Bianca died" - You know grief and sadness are interesting, in that sometimes they present as different emotions, like anger. Notice Nico never hurt Percy, and he never wanted to hurt him. Nico was 10 year old boy, who'd just lost his sister. He's now left alone in a world he doesn't recognise with no memories, no friends, no family, and not even the guarantee of a safe place to stay at Camp Halfblood. This is the first loss he remembers, the first time he can remember that someone older, someone who in his 10 year old mind should know better, has let him down, even if it was unintentional.
And here's the thing, I don't hate or even dislike Percy for his reactions. Are they sometimes a little harsh, particularly for accidents or things that weren't truly Nico's fault? Sure. But Percy is more or less a kid too. A teenager, but still can't be expected to just accept it.
I don't think either of them are really wrong here. Nico is trusting people, and Percy is reacting emotionally. And, again, I know Nico could have maybe mentioned Percy's past, but if he did, revealed he knew Percy before he could remember, told him about what he knows of Percy's life, who would take the brunt of Percy's frustration at not remembering? Nico.
So yeah, i am and always will be a Nico Di Angelo apologist.

Percy Jackson Review/My Thoughts
SPOILERS FOR THE PERCY JACKSON SHOW AND BOOK SERIES!!!!! READ WITH YOUR OWN CAUTION!!!
I Accidentally Vaporized My Pre-Algebra Teacher
The opening scene is absolutely perfect. 10/10 Uncle Rick.
Please, please, please, pleeaaassseee tell me the Pegasus on the rooftop was Blackjack. I am begging.
Sally told Percy, "Not everyone who looks like a hero is a hero. And not everyone who looks like a monster is a monster," foreshadowing to Medusa.
Gabe is more of comic relief and I'm not sure how I feel about it.
Sally Jackson listening to Logical by Olivia Rodrigo is the best because 1. I love that song and 2. she's listening to it in the rain.
d'Angelos sandwich shoppe?? Like Nico di Angelo? Please, please, please, please, please.
"You fell in love with God? Like Jesus??!" crying laughing. "A God..." followed by Sally sloppily trying to tell Percy he's a half-blood
No, mom, I'm not a God's kid there's something wrong with my brain. OMG I didn't know whether to laugh or cry in this scene.
"Grover, why is there half a goat in your PANTS?!?!" "So the important thing is not to panic."
"Is that the (voice crack) Minotaur??" Oh my, Walker you are perfect.
"I'm actually 24.." This had me rooollling.
Sally is already badass and I can't wait for The Last Olympian when Mama Jackson is shooting monsters with a GUN.
Grover swearing to Sally that Percy would be safe made me sad but it would have been 100000x worse if he swore on Styx.
"You are not broken, you are a miracle, and you are my son. Hold fast Percy."
Sally evaporating into dust hurt watching a lot more than reading, and
OMG OMG OMG baby Percy holding riptide and it glowing and my heart is crying I can't tell if it's tears of pain of joy but my heart and my eyes are crying.
"He's the one." "Hush, Annabeth." I was hoping to see her but we don't see her yet lmao
The end credits scene looks a lot like the same illustration for the covers of the paperback books.
When I saw this ep was only a half hour I was genuinely disappointed.
Dior's acting in this and her emotion when Clarisse's spear broke is perfection.
Never picked up on Annabeth calling Percy Sunshine
2. I Become Supreme Lord of the Bathroom
My first thought: scary lightning and delirious Percy.
My second thought: "You drool in your sleep," Annabeth said, arms crossed and glaring at Percy while Percy is confused.
My third thought: this is the scene in the books where Percy notices Annabeth looks like an actual Princess lmao.
Camp Half-Blood t-shirt!!! I want one and it looks soooo cooollll
PETER JOHNSON !!!
Dionysus and Percy already getting into it lmao
Dionysus is funny.
"Actually, I think I can, son." "Dad?!?!"
Chiron is sooo tall I never realized how tall a centaur is.
Chiron telling Percy he isn't his son is the funniest thing.
But imagine Mr. D doing that to all the kids lmfao
I love the waterfall that is shown
I want to see the strawberry fields...
Never surrender riptide, Percy. Never
12 cabins for 12 Olympians (for now; the Gods banished Zues and he doesn't have a cabin which is completely unfair. And only a few would be occupied. Zeus, Hera, Poseidon, and Artemis are empty).
OMG Luke I hate that you're going to betray Percy like thatttt
Who tf is the wood nymph Grover talks to? And will she be the one to introduce us to Juniper?
Introduced to the Cloven Council early and we find out about Sally Jackson really early.
"I don't want to lie to him anymore," and we love you for it Grover. You are a schmol bean too pure for this world.
Luke comforting Percy
Percy already wanting to Gods to pay their child support is the best thing in the world.
Clarisse is so pretty and I love her.
Percy not being able to be good at archery is a great detail from the books.
I can't tell if I'm more in love with Luke, with his morally greyb self, or Chris Rordiguez because Damn he's fine.
Percy praying to his mom :'(
"He can ignore me but he doesn't get to ignore you."
The Ares kids are so mean and then they got their butts kicked by Karma lol
Clarisse def knew that he was a Poseidon kid or that she was gonna kill him.
I love Annabeth and how Luke is always on her side.
The Yankees cap !!!!
Literal war between red and blue lmao
Luke saying "When it's time, he's gonna be ready. I know it," immediately followed by Percy flossing, peeing, petting a lizard, and laying doing nothing is the absolute best.
Percy being naturally good at sword-fighting is the best.
Dior's acting when Percy breaks Clarisse's spear is great and Walker said in an interview that when the camera pans back to him he was actually scared.
Annabeth: Offers Percy her hand. "Listen, Percy... I'm sorry." And then him immediately being claimed
This is a change from the books because she didn't know who his father was and wanted him to be a Zeus kids.
Everyone else: OMG you're Poseidon's kids.
Percy: I'm Sally Jackson's kid, actually mf
"I am Sally Jackson's son!"
Percy immediately going from "good luck finding three idiots to complete this quest" to "When do we leave."
3. We Visit the Garden Gnome Emporium
Walker's voice cracks are so adorable.
Am I the only one who was confused when Gabe showed up as the Oracle???
I love that Percy immediately chose Annabeth bcuz "I don't see us ever being friends"
Grover talking to a Pegasus is the best thing ever.
Why does Poseidon's cabin have a pool in the middle of the floor? Seems like a hazard in the middle of the night.
Yayy, Golden Drachmas.
And the shoes, curse those converses.
We actually get to see Luke's scar in this ep and i feel like in the books it seems a lot more... seen rather than just a thin line.
Thalia's treee
I hate that Grover often talks about himself in third person when he's not proud of something.
"Does she think she's in charge?" "Who else would be in charge?" Smart answer, Grover. Smart answer.
And we all already hate zeus
CONSENSUS SONG!!!!!!
"I really hate to be the tie breaker" lmao
Annabeth getting all the snacks.
And then immediately noticing a fury is how we all knew she was Athena's kid before we were even told.
Yayy, Alecto is back. And she went after Annabeth? Not Annabeth, Luke, and Thalia?
Annabeth's knife hits another Fury in the chest and dies.
I love Jessica Parker Kennedy's Medusa. she's both flawed and the victim and I couldn't decide whether to hate her or root for her. Like I love her outfit.
I would eat the hell out of the cupcakes lmao.
"Do you think it's safe to eat?" "Percy, I'm not gonna lie to you I'm really hungry and I'm willing to take that chance." Grover, I stan you.
I absolutely worship Medusa's story. It's so sad. And while she is telling the story, if you focus on her hair, you can see the snakes moving on her head.
Oh, Percy, my sweet, sweet boy. Of course you would help. Future wifie is like "Uhm, no. We need to leave."
I love the color of Medusa's eyes
Ohhh, these pre-pubescent kids fighting and making up is adorable <3
"They will see this as impertinent." "I am impertinent," another quote from the book.
Percy singing consensus is everything.
Min Manuel-Miranda is Hermes!!!! I love that man. "You guys are not gonna believe this."
4. I Plunge to My Death
This episode caused the most of my tears
Baby Percy is sooo cute I swear he is my life. I love the flashbacks. Except when they turn bad like this
Annabeth's story is identical to the books from what I remember
We find out Grover's interest in Pan a lot earlier than in the books. We don't see that until at least book 3.
We get to see the echidna. I really wanted it to be the Chimera to look like a poodle.
I hate Athena because she sent the echinda into her temple because annabeth "embarassed" her. Like really? Worst mother of the year.
Percy looking deathly ill breaks my heart.
Grover is literally me when I don't get enough sleep LMAO
The start of Percabeth's bickering and joking!!!
"It's like you need me to make fun of you."
The Policeman looks familiar.
Annabeth looking legit offended when she was called a little girl
The male police officer is played by Alessandro Juliani who plays Sinclair in the 100 on the Cw, another great show 9/10, highly reccommend
Percy and Annabeth bonding over Grover and their parents is adorable.
"careful I think you were about to call me a friend." more bickering and joking
Percy pulling a reverse uno card lmao
The fight with the chimera was terrifying but so worth it. Also why do you out my bby boi through this torture Uncle Rick???
Also the naiad?? what was with that? Why can't Posei-don't-wanna-pay-my-child-support just face Percy himself. That's gonna be a fucking emotional scene.
5. A God Buys Us Cheeseburgers
Percy climbed over the rail and was like : Hi :D
Thought Annabeth was gonna punch him not hug him but my percabeth heart was a puddle of fluff.
OOH. What's in Santa Monica?
Our baby is a fugitive.
Our three babies hiding behind the cement block from Ares: No we're good, thanks :D
Percy freaking out bc he thought Annabeth was freaking out she hugged him.
In the books Grover was always on Percy's side, but I love seeing him not choosing.
Ares is not as terrifying as I thought he was in the books lmao
"That's my cousin?" Percy said it with such disgust in his voice lmao.
Ares and his Twitter fights lol
Annabeth is fearless. I love it
Ares and Percy immediately having beef is the funniest thing because (in bellatrix voice) I KNOW WHATS GONNA HAPPEN! I KNOW WHATS GONNA HAPPEN! I KNO-
First use of Celestial Bronze!!
Annie geeking out over the mechanisms after trying to make a joke lol
WHAT IS LOVE? BABY DON'T HURT ME, DON'T HURT ME. nO MORE!!
Hephaestus was not at all ugly like Rick made him in the books. Or like Greek mythology made him.
The whole Tunnel scene was beautiful and sad and I love it
Grover and his psychological gaslighting is my world
"Percy stand up, I mean it!" and then him repeatedly saying he was ok broke my fragile heart.
Annabeth "I'm not leaving for my friend" is my favorite Annabeth.
Annabeth just likes to tell off Gods. Go off Queen!!
Percy likes to fight Gods lmao
"So thank you for the emotional abuse and the cheeseburgers."
6. We Take a Zebra to Vegas
Have seen TikToks where Nico and Bianca's names are called out and I will keep an eye and an ear out for it.
Why did they have to make Hermes an obstacle? He wasn't at the Lotus in the books!
Kronos is kinda creepy ngl
Iris message to Luke! In Chiron's office??
"Toss it, Seaweed Brain!" EEEKK
"How do you know" Luke had a Panic attack.
"When did you turn into an old married couple?"' Luke is the best and the worst.
Grover is the empathetic one, poor animals.
I wish we got the scene where Percy talked to the Zebra like in the book.
WISE GIRL !!!!!!!!
The satyr Agustus was not in the books. I actually think he was in the Cloven of Elders in the 4th book.
12:37 we hear Nico calling Bianca's name, faintly in the background so the tv has to be on full or almost full blast.
Lotus nectar in the air??
Hermes playing Blackjack?
"Hey, demigods! Welcome!"
Hermes eyebrows arch makes Lin Manuel look so evil.
"We're friends of Luke's!" and it looked like Hermes was gonna help but nooooooo!
Percy is so proud of his wifey for pick-pocketing Hermes
"Man, Grover got really old. How long have we been here?" hahahaha
"To the Dumb Kids" Damn, Hermes that hurts.
I love that since Grover is 24 they think he's qualified to dribve.
Percy driving is the best thing. I don't know anything about driving or New York or driving in New York but I do know about road rage and Percy hitting the horn after almost getting t-boned.
Percy finding out that they were actually late for the summer solstice was sad. Like he was freaking out.
"save the world. And then save your mother."
7. We Find Out the Truth, Sort of.
Underworld time!!!
Okay, but what the hell happened between the ending of the last ep and the beginning of this one??
Crusty is dead.
"You've got dad's eyes," reminds me of "You look exactly like James. Except your eyes. You've got your mother's eyes."
"It's either the realm of the dead or someone left a carton of milk in there in the 1990s.' LMAO
I wish the demigods' ADHD and dyslexia was more openly discussed.
I love Cerberus
Poor Grover. Loosing his pearl
I want to see Annabeth flashbacks
Seeing the flashbacks are so, so sad.
I will forever be in awe of Hades's Palace.
What were the regrets that Annabeth had to get her bound to Asphodel? I think it has something to do with her dad and step mom. Or Thalia.
"I trust your dad" says a lot coming from Annabeth because in the books, she hated Poseidon at first.
Why is there sand by Tartarus?
(Sarcastic gasp) Percy had the bolt? No way.
"Is this--?" "NO!" "This looks" "It absolutely is NoT!!" Grover my precious angel.
Another flashback. Poor Percy doesn't understand the situation and poor Sally can't tell him.
I love Hades. He's perfect and fruity and I can't wait to see him interact with Nico.
Poor Hades just wants his helm!
And Percy had decided to think without the wifey and decided to get Hades helm after figuring out Kronos was behind everything. And Grover is so insulted at being called a goat lmao
POSEIDON!!!
I want to know the science/mythology behind how Sally conjured Poseidon and why she put a match in an empty milkshake to do it.
We actually see how much Poseidon loved and cared about Sally.
What happened between when he was 7/8 to 12 that made Sally not want to drop him off at camp like she had discussed with Poseidon?? She wanted to, to keep him safe but then it seems like Poseidon talked her out of it?
Sally believes in Percy so much even from such a young age.
Ares with the sword and the final scene.
8. The Prophecy Comes True.
Dramatic instrumental music and Luke talking in the intro?? Yes pleaSe!
And then flashback to Luke training Percy.
Ares laughing at Percy when he offers to spar with him is the funniest thing because he's about to get his ass kicked!!
Did Ares work with Kronos in the book? I can't remember.
"when you die, say goodbye to your mommy for me" Low blow Ares!!!
Go Percy!! Fight with water! And Ares is pissed. Even more!
Riptide and Percy in one corner, Ares and another celestial bronze sword in another. And Percy wins!! By a mudslide! LMAO
I thought Alecto died? When she was turned to stone??
Alecto saying "Good luck on Olympus," is scary. Like hella scary.
Percy calling Zeus a monster is so, so, so fucking fitting like I swear.
We get to see Annabeth's dad's college ring!!! On her camp necklace! That she gave to Percy.
"I'm here to see Zeus. I don't have an appointment."
My roommate is watching this ep with me and when Luke said "You don't want to be small and scary" she said "like spiders! :D" he said "cus things that are small and scary get squished" we both laughed out loud.
RIP Lance Reddick but Zeus is an absolute DICK
and scary (said in meek voice)
Poseidon fighting Zeus is amazing!!!!!
Zeus: "He's a forbidden child"
Poseidon: "So was Thalia"
Me: "What about your Roman form Jupiter with JASON GRACE!!!!"
I squealed and clapped my hands
I wanted to see who they cast as Athena
Like will she be white or black?
Percy and daddy bonding over Sally has my hearts in pieces.
"Do you ever dream about mom?"
Percy run away from Luke! He will hurt you!
Why is Luke crying???
We get to see Backbiter!!!!
ANNABETH WAS THERE?????!!!!
"I heard everything!"
OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG
Percy got his first bead!!!
The third seaweed brain!
Percy calling Kronos grandpa is freaky
And Sally saying no absolutely fucking not
And Sally seeing right through Percy's bullshit lies
Sally is divorcing Gabe!! He is turned to stone LMAO
How long until season 2????

What are your headcanons for the cabin designs in Camp Half-Blood? Specifically cabin 12, but you can do others if you want;)
oh my gosh ah I LOVE answering these questions!
i will die on this hill but I am convinced while Annabeth designed the new cabins (13-20) she also did an overhaul on the older cabins (1-12)
all cabins have been fitted with "bigger on the inside" magic and they all essentially have dorm-rooms post titan war, WITH THE EXCEPTION of cabins 1,2 and 8. The hunters formally requested Annabeth not touch their cabin, and at the time of designs, no one stayed in zeus's or Hera's cabins.
Cabin 11's dorm technology broke and its currently due to unclaimed still living there.
post giant war, Nico and his siblings redecorate the interior of Cabin 13 to be less... victorian goth and more.... early 2000s emo (mostly)
cabin twelve, as I've stated in a previous post, looks how Noah Kahan's music sounds. It's built like a house on a vineyard, it even smells like a vineyard. grape vines decorate the walls and celling, and there's old, dark wood furniture everywhere. it smells faintly of old parties and good times, and the plush purple bedding on all the beds are as cozy as they look. the bathroom looks like one straight out of the 90s, with black and white tiles, a large oddly shaped Mirror and shower curtain with that badass cup design from the 80s-2000s (yknow the one with the blue and purple like- lines?)
Cabin 3 smells like the beach, and has the best natural lighting next to cabin 10. the beds are all waterbeds. Poseidon asked and Percy begged annabeth because "it would be so COOL"... he kinda regrets it now. there's sea memorabilia everywhere and there's the cool ass aquariums that like, go overhead full of sea life that can come and go as they wish because it's connected right to the ocean.
Cabin 7 is solid gold, as stated in the books, and by Will Solace in this recent read Riordan post. the inside though, smells of honey and lemon and has light oak furniture. tapestries and pride-flags line the walls. The beds look like beds at a summer camp- personalized with blankets from home, plushies etc. there's a small corner with 3-4 cots for kids to visit when they feel sick at night and there's no room in the infirmary. Music is always playing from somewhere.
Cabin 6 smells like a library, and the bunks have soft grey bedding. there's a back room full of books and battle plans, smart-boards line the walls (this is canon, according to Percy in PJO I believe)
I don't really know what the other cabins would look like but these are the ones I think about the most.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic? - I LOVE IT. i don't think i've done it but i really should do a fic where someone speaks french...
19. First fandom you wrote for? - omg if we're talking first ever time i wrote within an existing universe then it was for the philippa fisher books in 5th grade, i think i wrote some for a school assignment? but if we're referring to first time i wrote fanfic and called it fanfic, then it would be haikyuu i think
20. Favorite fic you’ve written? - give me one good honest kiss always always always. i have never outdone it imo and i love it very much <3
as for tagging: anyone who wants to!

Rating Characters I've had crushes on. Pt 1.
Disclaimer!!! This will get more unhinged as we go on. I somehow have a thing for dilfs and its kind of weird but whatever. This part is just male characters that I can remember. If you judge, please do it anonymously in my ask box bc I like being a little messy at times/hj. Not all of these were sexual byw!! I was like 9-12 with some of these crushes
Wanring: i am a horny teen girl whos never had a boyfriend. It will get bad.
Book Characters:
Remus Lupin. 10/10. Still fixated on him and his complex character. Hate JKR and her stupid terfy face and literal racism and the way she ruined some of her best characters. (Definitely not salty about tonks and her entire character becoming obsessed with Remus) RIP, bbg. You deserved a better author and less mischaracterization from the fandom.
Cedric Diggory. 8/10. The fixation didn't last long, but it was fun. I think I clinged to him because hes one of like 8 Hufflepuffs mentioned in the books and IM a Hufflepuff.
Percy Jackson. The icon. 9/10. Love that sassy mfer AND HES LOYAL TO ANNABETH?!?!? perfect. Had 9 year old Izzy in a chokehold.
Nico Di Angelo. 7/10. I think I wanted to be friends with him tbh. It wasn't really a crush but more of a 'i am him, and he is me.' He just like me fr fr.
Carlise Cullen. 9/10. Hes a vampire doctor father figure. All the boxes were checked. I don't know why, but I read the hospital scene in twilight and my brain went blank. Same with watching the movie as an 8 year old. Got me giggling and twirling my hair.
Atticus Finch. 11/10. You're starting to see a pattern, aren't you? Bonus point for doing the right thing despite common beliefs at the time of TKAM. He's literally such an interesting character and I think I either want to be fucked by him, or I want him to be my father. I can't decide. He was also played by Gregory Peck, so...🫡 yeah.
Klaus Boudelaire. 7/10. He was smart, and little Izzy had a fixation on smart boys who would read. The actor who played him also looked like my third grade crush and 8 year old Izzy was smitten. I would've been best friends with him fr fr. Count Olaf can catch these pale hands.
Anime Characters:
I would like to preface this by saying I was in middle school and unmedicated. I am still unmedicated, but it was worse then. Thank you for your understanding about whatever the fuck this is about to say about me.
Sebastian Michaelis. 9/10. Still fixated on him. -1 for almost dying multiple times. Black Butler is STILL my shit. It was the first anime I was really into. First Manga I ever read. First hyperfixation I can remember that wasn't a book series, not counting My Little Pony. I saw the butler and father figure and 11 year old Izzy went 👀.
William T Spears. 8/10. I don't know what it was. I just liked him a LOT. The mental illness was taking over.
...Ciel Phantomhive. 7/10. Same reasons as Nico. I wont elaborate further.
Levi Ackerman. 10/10. Who wasn't obsessed with Levi when watching AOT?? Pfff imagine liking a type of napoleon bonapart 🧍♂️. Couldn't be me. Not at all. 🧍♂️.
Shouta Aizawa. 11/10. I have no words to explain why my brain decided the teacher was my crush. Hes twice my age. Hes sleep deprived. He has zero patience left. But my brain said tehehe go for THAT one. And he was just trying to sleep in that yellow sleeping bag.
Shoto Todoroki. 6/10. I was influenced by the fandom at the time. Hes...fine I guess. Another complex traumatized character. Had 11 year old Izzy in a chokehold. Idfk.
(Unfortunately) Kai Chisaki. 3/10. He was hot to 13 year old Izzy. Complex character but unfortunately a bad person. Can't defend myself here.
Dabi. 4/10. It's slightly better than Chisaki. Had a love/hate thing. I wrote a fanfic about ripping his staples out and leaving him to die. I had problems, if you couldn't tell. Thats literally the only violent thing I'd ever written and it was one of my most popular fics on my old blog (RIP all the fics I deleted)
Kusuo Saiki: 10/10. Looking back on it, he's literally so me core. Would we be friends irl? Probably not. I think my intrusive thoughts would take him back and he'd be like '...what the fuck??' So yeah. But also yeah. He's literally so me. He just wants to be left alone but ALSO SECRETLY ADORES HIS FRIENDS!!!! Had middle school me in a deadlock. Still have stickers of him (everyone say thank you jamie).
TV and Movies:
The Beast from Beauty and the Beast. 6/10. I think its kind of common for little girls. Idk.
Prince Eric. 9/10. I think he was also common for little girls. Bro was brainwashed but lowkey reluctant bc I think he KNEW Ariel was the singing girl. I love himbos.
The Phantom of the Opera. 10/10. We love serial killers who are also obsessive but also very fucked up. And he can play the organ 🙂. Yumby. It was fruit for the soul. Talking about 2004 movie, but 1990s miniseries Erik was also good.
I guess Carlise Cullen coukd also be over here but wtv.
Bela Lugosi Dracula. 7/10. -3 bc I haven't seen the movie but hes so <333. Book Dracula is also <333. They're both such menaces but also so <333
Jack Skellington. I can't even rate this. I have no words for myself.
Beetlejuice. Same with Jack. I have no words for myself.
Hannibal Lecter (NBC series). 9/10. Most recent as of the day im making this. -1 point for making Will go insane. Bros literally insane. I would let him manipulate me 😍/hj. Just kidding. If he was my therapist I would cry. He would say something after psychoanalyzing me and I would start sobbing. And then he'd kill me. Boom.
Will Graham. 9/10. Tbh!!! More of a father figure crush thing. Is also my type. Tragic brunette with glasses. Bro needs a fucking break. Please let him live peacefully. (Number one Jack Crawford hater‼️‼️)
Musicians:
Jareth the Goblin King. 8/10. I love David Bowie. Thats all.
Dracula Tepes (Castlevania). 9/10. Yes he tried killing humanity. They killed his wife. It was only fair. Another vampire dilf. Gotta love em.
Adrian Tepes. ^ 9/10. Dracula's tragic vampire son. I HAVE A TYPE.
Papa Emeritus III: Ghost. 9/10. Made a great Album (Meliora). Our great icon. Wants to fuck Omega (Ghoul) and tbh I get it. Those ghouls are sooo awesome and cool. I love a short flamboyant man who can sing. Favorite song of his is Cirice. And Bible. Bible is underrated fr fr. Is my favorite Papa from Ghost but honestly I love all of them so count that 9/10 as a rating for all of them.
Papa Emeritus IV. 9/10. I love him too. Tbh. The Papa that I have been around for. Thank you Frater Imperator‼️‼️. You go Copia. Hes so bbg coded. Bro has glittery jackets and sings about Rats. Who wouldn't love that??
David Bowie: 10/10. Less of a crush and more of a I love his music so much and I need ALL OF YOU to know.
Video Games
Jumin Han (Mysmes). 8/10. He was the first good ending I got between him and 707. Had me stressing. Does Jumin Han Is Gay? (Maybe). Had 12 year old izzy questioning things.
707. ^-^. 9/10. Mfers route had me STRESSING. it took me 6 WEEKS to get the good ending and when I finally got it, my mom was like woah good for you hon. So -1 point for that, but also +1 to the traumatized smart boy type I have. Tried Honey Butter chips bc of him. Went hard asf. Got harrassed by an adult bc of a fanfic I liked on here. That was fun.
Julian Devorak. 10/10. He was the only route I've finished on The Arcana and I love him with all my heart. Lowkey wish there was less smut about him. I wanna give this tall ginger man a bone crushing hug.
Link (LOZ). 6/10. I was four.
Sebastian (Sdv) 10/10. I play his route every single time. Literally at 6 hearts with him rn at winter year 1. Hes also the sad coder core. I think I have a type. Idk.
Barbatos (Obey Me). 10/10. Same as Sebastian Michaelis. Something about OP butlers.
Lucifer (Obey Me) 10/10. I always wanted to hug him and then run away like a chaos child. More of a platonic thing for both him and Barbatos. Inner child screamed. I would literally play obey me for hours. It was always open on my little Moto E6. Deleted Mystic Messenger for it. And vice versa. Fun stuff.
Anywaysss haii thats all for now!! Part 2 will probably be soon. Maybe. It'll be all the women I had crushes on as a child. I was very gay. I go both ways. Fr fr.
#childhood crushes#yeah#i have problems#but thats okay#mhm. yeah#i was THAT bitch#i wish I was normal#i think im going to regret that dilf tag but wtv#anyways yeah I could ramble about Hannibal as a show for HOURS#dilfs but im just a teen girl with unresolved issues and an admiration for older men#but not in the way you think

Thoughts while reading “The House of Hades” with my nephew-
1. My girl Hazel already being a boss, you got this girl!
2. Annabeth saving her seaweed brain, nothing new there. And I love to see it. (Seriously, if you don’t love them together don’t even talk to me)
3. Rick- we have talked about you messing with my son Leo. Just let him have a good day with no bad dreams or guilt
4. Kelly is still the worst
5. I adore Frank with everything I have and I would love to be able to change into a dog to sleep too.
6. Okay- someone give my children therapy, because the amount of guilt they all have for things that they shouldn’t is out of control
7. My poor Nico, everyone always feels all weird around him, now I need to go hug my kitten named Nico
8. Frank needed to vent by killing all those monsters, and honestly that’s a vibe
9. I am obsessed with Bob. He can be with my loves Tyson and Ella 🖤
10. “Do you have a pen?” “You’re kidding, right?” “Yes, but can you actually write with it?” “I… I don’t know.” The exchange I feel like everyone wanted to happen at some point
11. Hades playing all coy with Hazel, I love to see it
12. Ohh Bob! I adore you!
13. My girl Annabeth did it once again, got Rachel her message, and my boy Grover came along with her
14. Octavius continues to be the worst
15. About halfway through this book and Piper is borderline set dressing at this point. Like I loved her when she first appeared, but man in the last book she kind of annoyed me and she’s like not in this. I am disappointed. I know she can do so much more! Give it to me!
16. Okay, is it possible for a satyr and a cloud nymph to have kids? Because that’s what I really want to happen for them
17. Seriously why does everyone hate on my poor sweet Nico? I know he’s the son of Hades and like death aura or whatever, but he is my son and I need him to have love
18. Oh Nico, it’s okay. Everyone had a crush on Percy
19. OH MY GOD! I somehow missed that they named the cat Small Bob and I love it so much
20. Honestly, Annabeth pissing off someone into doing what she wants them to do is such a vibe
21. Damasen my poor sweet peaceful giant. I will collect all my little misfit toys in this series!
22. FINALLY Piper does something! And in the most mean girl way! YES! This is what I’ve been wanting from her! This is the Piper I missed and have been waiting on
23. My boy Leo is so fucking smart and I will never get tired of it, I mean he like made a make shift helicopter or whatever as he was falling from the sky!
24. Sassy Leo on the beach might be my favorite
25. Okay… Calypso and Leo… I kind of like it. If she does anything to hurt my child I will RAGE! You hear that Rick?! I will rage
26. They got married!!! And I was right! She’s pregnant! Yes! I love it! 🖤🖤🖤
27. And he brought in Clarice! (And I will defend my love of Clarice until the end of time, she’s a ball of rage and I vibe with that) I just love Coach Hedge so much
28. Frank being a badass, I am always here for it
29. Not me tearing up over Bob being the best and holding the button
30. “Who knows what will be?” Are you kidding me?! I’m not a crying mess! Shut up
31. My Hades babies 🖤 I adore my kiddos of the dead
32. I really like Jason being Nico’s buddy. Like yes! Give my sweet boy someone he views as a friend

hey I just finished the book & wanted to complain somewhere & I saw all ur anons etc about it so I hope this is ok!
but I just thought it was so unbearably...cringe. I can't quite remember how blatant the ‘messages’ were in the other books & maybe it was because I was very young when I read them but I can't remember them being so...unsubtle. & of which were just generally not good. It felt like there was some lesson constantly being repeated, nothing in the subtext to interpret, & I know that it is obviously aimed to younger readers but they still have the skills of inference lol. & Idk I haven't read anything past BOO I don't think but I can't remember any of the others being so relentlessly unserious.
obviously not asking him to write some abstract horror lol but I think even younger readers could engage with a more challenging text. I don't understand the point of the Tartarus plot line (which is constantly reinstated as being this awful, terrible etc etc place) if it's ‘horrors’ are not going to be explored.
what was good in the other books was how we didn't really know much about what happened to Nico there, & could only infer through the very obvious trauma—and even the PercyAnnabeth bits were more mature...I don't know. it just seems like reintroduction if it is less ‘scary’ in a way than the first time around & cheapens in a little. I think there is so much potential that just wasn't explored at all!
plus I just thought the dialogue was so so bad. obviously it's not going to be all serious. but it just seemed like bad one liner after bad one liner to the point they seemed ingeniune & lazy. So much dialogue that could have been used to build a relationship was used to unfunny jokes (which we were constantly being told were jokes! U shouldn't have to tell us a joke is a joke!) & when there were ‘heartfelt’ moments between them they seemed regurgitated out of some trauma self-help book lol. We were told directly of their thoughts about one another so often that the miscommunication & arguing just seemed repetitive...
& I had to half skip thru that later scene of Nico & Piper it was just so so cringe. Don't even know what to say about it lol.
Ok. this has been so long I'm sorry. I'm just too much of a hater....
tdlr: book was bad. characters were cringe.
What I hate is that thanks to this book, my legacy will be being a hater. That’s so fucked up because I literally hate being a hater I enjoy everything my bar is so low.
I watch 99% of movies and think “wow this was fun!”. I liked Pretty Little Liars. All seven seasons. I read the After books. I’m an enjoyer. I love trashy fun.
(Complaining under the cut!)
The problem is exactly that this wasn’t fun😭😭 The messages were so on the nose and blatant. Characters were having conversations for the readers and that’s so bad from a writing standpoint. It was a constant fourth wall and immersion breaking but it was not done intentionally. I got pulled out of the narration all the time.
The dialogues were either “unfunny meme unfunny meme unfunny meme” or self help Ted Talks.
Exactly what you said about Tartarus being scarier because we didn’t know what exactly had happened to Nico. Obviously flashbacks were going to happen, but there was really no subtlety ever, in anything, and i don’t get it because 12-14 year olds can read the Classics, or higher level YA fantasy such as The Hunger Games, and are generally beginning to enjoy a broader scope of fiction. They are not preschoolers. Have faith in them.
Also it’s useless to pretend Rick isn’t aware of his older fanbase. Who do y’all think he’s milking the series for? Newborns that will read it in 10 years? Writing a book for kids that’s enjoyable, even if considered a bit juvenile or simple, for adults too is perfectly doable. “Family movies” are based on this exact concept.
Hell, The Hunger Games is for kids!! Not as young as 10, but still for kids (13-16)!! And look at how it’s written!!!
Overall, I don’t deny that the book is full of important messages and if kids got something out of it, then good. But it’s not well written. From pretty much any point of view.

Week in Review
05/12/2024 – 05/18/2024
Sunday
Week 14 of missing Cipher Academy
Not much to say about Girl Meets Rock except hell yeah Hatocchi get his ass!!!!
UNDEAD UNLUCK IS CRAZY GOOD THIS WEEK WOAGHHHHHHHHHHHHAHHHHH This battle was predicated on the idea of “imagination”, but now it has developed into the idea of “conviction”, given how Feng’s determination helped power the cannon and plant the seed of doubt in Lang’s mind. BUT ALSO NICO OPENING THE WORMHOLE TO THE MASTER RULES ROOM IS AMAZINGGGGGGGGGGG I LITERALLY SCREAMED OUT LOUD LMAOOOOOOOOO it’s simultaneously the funniest shit ever while also being a genius move, and seeing Soul being absolutely flabbergasted is so incredible. But then seeing him appear to feel genuinely frustrated and sad at Lang’s defeat is also really interesting…of course Tozuka would give the villains compassion and care for each other…love is one of the central themes of UU after all…and this makes this war all the more compelling… That last spread is genuinely so beautiful…Lang conceding defeat and granting her foe some happiness in her final moments…NicoIchi marriage…it’s just so peak… I don’t know how UU manages to top itself every week but god it feels good to be a part of the journey.
Obligatory beach episode in Oshi no Ko is fine, there are some fun jokes in there. And the love triangle seems to be resolving itself…if not for the Ruby thing LMAO
I’m glad they got that guy out of the air in Dandadan, because the drawings of hand to hand combat are just gorgeous.
Damn, the information drop in One Piece is actually insane…it feels surreal to be finally hearing history that I first got hints about literally ten years ago…
Ahghhrhghghaeujglhgeayhgj the new SpyFam chapter…Martha/Henry is so so so so so so sooooo good…SpyFam is so good when it’s a genuine war drama because it doesn’t shy away from how war permeates and affects society…the kids going through air siren drills and the talk of drafts and everyone’s futures…Martha suffering the loss of her dream and taking control of her life by enrolling in the army and confessing to Henry, only for the bell of war to toll once more and shove a wedge between them that will last for most of their lives…agh… I really hope they get together, and not just at the end of the manga like a lot of shounen manga like to do because I want to see them explore their new dynamic in their old age… If only every manga was as proactive and caring about romance as Undead Unluck is…
I reread Hoshi Dake ga Shitteru to see if I would want to buy it when the officially licensed book comes out and I think I will…! The writing in this was always pretty refreshing to read, and it’s fun and realistic to watch Kengo and Sora slowly orbit around each other and read each other’s intentions until they finally concede that they’re in love. And the astronomy theming and all this talk about dreams is just the cherry on top because it reminds me of Twin Spica. It’s an 8/10 for me, and I’m looking forward to picking up the physical version.
Finally finished reading If You’re Reading This, It’s Too Late… I’ve harped on about my issues with this series enough, so I’ll just say that the gist of my problem with it is that it’s a fairly shallow narrative. I’m sure that kids enjoy it, and I probably did as a kid myself, but it’s not particularly rewarding to revisit as an adult because there’s no added depth to be found. Just a quirky series banking on punny humor and the allure of a big mystery and a secret society that lets kids work for them for whatever reason. Unfortunately I’m committed to seeing this series through to the end, so you’ll probably get a lot more griping from me.
Man…I think I’m genuinely too stupid to understand Monogatari. I finished Nekomonogatari Black today and I just feel confused… Monogatari’s trademark of long-winded conversations just leave me always playing catch up as I try to understand the line I just heard while the next line is being said. I went to go read some essays about Nekomonogatari and I think I get it more now, but I don’t get Araragi at all…I rarely do… Maybe I should read the books, at least I can control the pacing there…but I feel like Monogatari might just not be for me, because I can hardly feel emotionally impacted by it when I can’t tell what’s going on. I really wanted to like Monogatari, though…it seems to mean a lot to a lot of people and I love Cipher Academy by the same author so much so I don’t know why this just isn’t clicking for me…
I watched the second episode of Smartypants and it was about as mildly entertaining as the first. Jess’ presentation felt the most straightforward, just straight up facts rather than jokes lol. Jacob’s was solid and genuinely funny at times and came to a satisfying conclusion, much like Trapp’s in the last episode, but I think my favourite of the three has to be Katie’s for her sheer commitment and enthusiasm. I relate, as an egg lover myself…
Monday
Living Dead…Sleeping Dead… Having now read the ending, the name of the manga hits like a truck… Both can refer to Sada, of course, but I’m also inclined to believe that Living Dead also refers to Mamiya in a way… He was aimless in life, only chasing the one ambition he knew and leaving behind the rest of the world in the process… But Sada brought him back…and tried to keep him there, even using up his last moments to try and impart that message to him… Meanwhile, the Sleeping Dead moniker makes me want to die because it’s what Mamiya desperately wanted for Sada in the end…but of course it couldn’t come to pass… This story was never going to end happily… I was surprised to see Mamiya just straight up admit his feelings, but I suppose it was the last chapter so the mangaka wanted to get things moving along. But god, seeing them being intimate and Mamiya slowly opening up to happiness was so incredible…and it only made the ending all the more tragic. Narratively, I think the story was a bit all over the place and not always in control of what direction it wanted to go in, but that last conversation somehow tied everything together and illuminated the themes of the work so beautifully that I can’t even be mad. But god I feel so miserable…8/10…
At least the new Oni to Tengoku chapter cheered me up somewhat…Aoki and Tengoku’s tentative relationship and its down to earth writing is always fun to read about…
And then I read Koisuru Psycho no Shirayuki-kun lmao It seems to be a quintessential edgy “get revenge on your cartoon bullies” escapist power fantasy, but the BL theming and excellent figure art have intrigued me… I normally wouldn’t read a story like this but sure, I’ll watch the “crazy” guy kill some kids for his crush, why not. Everything about this story is so over the top, though, so let’s see if I get annoyed enough to drop it before it concludes.
Tuesday
I’d been itching to read another Sammy Keyes book so I picked up Sammy Keyes and the Art of Deception today and finished it in one sitting lol I love this series so much that I’m trying savour them and not read them all at once, so it’s always a treat when I do get to read one. This entry was pretty cute, with some musings about the value and purpose of art in a way that a younger audience could appreciate and some more progress on the Sammy/Casey romance front, but the highlight for me was definitely seeing Rita take more of an active role in the mystery. It’s nice to learn more about her and see her step out of the “worried guardian” role for a bit, and the old people love quandrangle was really fun to watch play out. Personally I think Rita deserves to have a fling with Lance before marrying Hudson but that’s just me. The mystery was kind of the weakest link here, given how 80% of its runtime was less so about a specific crime and more “things seem suspicious, better investigate”, but it was still decently interesting.
Wednesday
I tried reading Moju by Edogawa Ranpo, but the translation was a little off and filled with typos and grammatical errors that I couldn’t really get into it (and after looking up the translator, it seems like this wasn’t a one-time occurrence). The intro itself was also meh – it seems a little ridiculous that after two run-ins with the blind man, Ranko wouldn’t connect the dots right away that the weird guy wearing sunglasses at her show is the same guy??? And I’m sure the ero-guro stuff was shocking for 1931, but now it just reads as edgy slasher stuff. So yeah, no thanks.
Thursday
DunMesh with a side of excellent spicy noodles today – I used水煮鱼 broth, shanxi noodles, ricecakes filled with cheese, spring onions, and some meatballs I made yesterday and oh my god it was so good. Possibly the best “throw stuff together” meal I’ve ever made for myself. I felt very immersed in the dungeon cooking experience. Watching Izutsumi learn how to actually relate to people and be a part of a team is very cute! Also a nice lesson in learning how to deal with things you don’t like in order to move forward in life.
Friday
Drag Race All Stars 9 huh… I have to be honest…I’m not really feeling this season… I’m glad that they’re competing for these great causes, but now it feels like Drag Race is trying too hard to be a “feel good” activism season and the vibes are just way off. This overly positive tone was fitting when it was the winners season and we were celebrating the girls’ achievements and how skilled they are at their craft, but it’s not really working for me here. I guess part of the issue is that there isn’t anyone I’m particularly rooting for in this group? And then not having eliminations sucked a lot of tension out of the room… I think I’ll actually skip this season entirely. I’ve been watching every main Drag Race and All Stars season since 6 and 3 respectively, but I’m just not compelled enough to continue with this one. I did watch the first episode, though, and it was alright. The song performance was weirdly good in a way where I feel like production stepped in to help (it definitely felt like they were trying to avoid turning the charity song into a meme if one of the verses flopped), but then the sudden perfume themed runway threw me way off. This is something that would’ve been its own main challenge back in the day (flashbacks to that extremely weird animated sidekick challenge from season 9??), and seeing it thrown in here for seemingly no reason was so weird. At least the voiceovers were all pretty funny, and the outfits were nice…except for Gottmik’s. Literally what was that…the placement of the chains was so weird and random and unflattering, and the base was just a basic black dress… Gottmik was a favourite of mine on season 13, so this was a bit of a disappointment. Plastique’s outfit was pretty amazing, I was marvelling at the mechanics of having two sets of wings that closed over each other…it’s definitely a step up from the Courtney Act wings, though those still have a special place in my heart. But yeah, the vibes are just off and I don’t want to watch the rest of the season.
Saturday
To be honest I was sad today but then a four hour video essay I’ve been anticipating for two years got posted just as I was about to eat dinner so I spent most of my day watching that instead of anything else

I'd love to hear more thoughts on that crossover.
YES OMG!!!
(this is abt my pjo/bsd crossover btw!)
so a little worldbuilding: atsushi was still an orphan obvi, and they're all like 12-18? so like atsushi would be like 14? dazai/kunikida/ranpo/etc would be like 18? or maybe ranpo would be like 20 but still at chb idk. the pm might be camp jupiter? also all the pjo characters still exist in this universe so none of the bsd guys are like the main characters
so i think atsushi would be a dionysus or apollo kid. dionysus cause tigers and apollo cause idk the vibes.
ummmm i said that kunikida would be an athena or zeus kid, athena cause brains and zeus cause honestly i feel like it just fits yk?
the tanazaki's would be like dionysus kids
yosano would be an apollo or thanatos kid. cause healing but like healing with death?
and poor like 10 year old kyouka is an athena kid
kenji is a demeter kid
fukuzawa is like a... fuck wait this is difficult. he's a hermes kid maybe? trust me the vibes are there
more below the cut cause i'm gonna talk A LOT
NOW WE'RE ONTO DAZAI! this bitch was really hard to categorise actually cause like you have to give him something in line with his character arcs? so my first thought was apollo, cause idk but it didn't really fit. my second idea was aphrodite AND HEAR ME OUT ON THIS ONE. so like he'd see people as not really caring about him cause he'd feel like he made them? and he'd have charmspeak. also him being an aphrodite kid just feels right when i think about the fifteen scene. he could also be a hades kid with a nico-esqe time travel lotus casino type of shitshow and like oda was his brother figure maybe? idk i feel like he'd be an aphrodite kid and i refuse to elaborate. (he could be a venus kid cause port mafia?)
ranpo is just mortal and can see through the mist, maybe he's an oracle maybe he's not.
LETS GO TO THE PM!
chuuya could be from another pantheon? maybe? idk he's an ares/mars kid or maybe like a thanatos kid? or he got like cursed/bestowed with like being a demigod but like he doesn't have a proper godly parent? but like he has a patron god parent? so like maybe a titan? like hyperion or smth? or atlas? idk
mori is like a legacy of asclepius and kouyou is an ares/mars kid 100%
the akutagawa's are related on the mortal side and ryuu is a luna (selene) kid? gin is like possibly a very distant legacy of like ultios (assassins!)?
higuchi is like a nymph or driad or smth like that.
kaiji is a minerva or vulcan kid
ummm hirotsu is like a legacy of zeus. very distantly tho
i probably forgot someone from the mafia but whatever
i'd say the hunting dogs are all mortal but can see through the mist (or sense, in jouno's case)
ummmm lets see
other relevant characters:
i want the guild to be a different pantheon so they're the norse ppl. or like 50/50 mortals
POE IS NOT DEAD BTW HE'S NOT IN VALHALLA! poe is like an odin kid maybe? or he's just completely normal? idk he needs powers but yeah he can defs see through the veil/mist and like do shit with it
uhhh oda was themis kid or legacy.
ango's an athena kid? maybe?
OH SHIT THE DOA!!!
i think the decay of angels is like people from a lot of different pantheons with similar goals.
fyodor i think should be from the slavic mythological pantheon so now i get to read about more myths!!! this is obviously very loose cause there isn't much known about slavic myths and gods (cause the christian colonisers didn't care enough to write anything about them) but i feel like he's a dola kid. dola is the personification of destiny and fate! fyodor could also just be completely normal
nikolai is a normal mortal dude who can like see myth-y stuff but he can also do legit magic? like i feel like it would come from the "soul" or smth instead of godly genes? idk like he got gifted with magic cause like a god took pity on him or smth?
AND SIGMA!!! MY CHILD!!! he's a weird one cause like he spawned out of a book. i'd say maybe he's a reincarnated soul? idk tho
lmao there was no worldbuilding here but whatever

Why The Percy Jackson Adaptation Should Be Animated
We can have Heroes of Olympus/Trials of Apollo/Magnus Chase series
Percy shows up in four of Rick’s five (at this time) mythology series, those four series have eighteen books spanning six years
Even if Disney could crank out say three in two years, that’s still twelve years, the actors playing Percy, and Annabeth, and Grover, and Thalia, and Clarisse, and many more will be in their twenties when all the books are covered and that’s on a sped up timeline that is unlikely to work in reality
The reality is, we probably won’t get a Heroes of Olympus television series and we definitely won’t get a Trials of Apollo or Magnus Chase series, which is sad as many favorite characters won’t be seen
Grover, Thalia Chiron, and the Gods won’t age
Yes, technically Grover does age, so that title is a bit of a misnomer, but he ages slower than the others, either the whole he’s actually twenty-eight, but satyrs age slower will need to be axed, or he will have to be played by an adult so that he doesn’t age, which will look strange since he’s suppose to look fourteen/fifteen for the entire series
Grover is only a small problem though, how are they going to deal with Artemis or Hestia, both of whom are portrayed as very young ages, the twelve year old playing Artemis will be fourteen, minimum (though, if we want good cgi, she’ll be more likely around sixteen) by the time the show reaches The Last Olympian
Plus, Thalia is suppose to stop aging at fifteen, again, I suppose an adult could play her, it isn’t unheard of for adults to play fifteen/sixteen year olds, but unless they get an actor with a serious baby face, she’ll stand out amongst the children and teens playing the other characters
It’ll be bearable to watch in ten years
Cgi is improving everyday, which is great....until you watch something that’s more that a few years old, when we have newer and better cgi, the monsters and action of Percy Jackson is going to look....well we’ll remember that it looked good once
That is, if they pay attention to details, skimming over detail, especially when making living things with cgi, you risk falling into the uncanny valley (I’m most of us have seen at least a clip of Lion King 2019), if something is off, we will notice, even if we can’t place why
We can have it sooner
Animation for animated series are easier to make than animation for live action series, they don’t have to worry about matching the lighting and shadows because they get to choose the lighting and shadows, no need to worry how the actors are interacting with the animated monster (ex. the Percy actor bumps into Mrs. O’Leary, then goes to pet her, but moves his hand too far forward and now that has to be accounted for)
The battles will probably cause the most delays, anyone watch Game of Thrones? remember how long the final season took to get out? that was because of the major battles spanning multiple episodes, which is exactly what The Last Olympian will be
They wouldn’t have to use child actors
This isn’t a bash on child actors, there are some good ones out there, what I’m concerned about is the children’s well being
Ever read or watch an interview from an ex child actor, especially Disney child actors, it’s brutal and takes a toll on their mental health, there’s even instances where the child doesn’t want to act, their parents are forcing them to
If on the extremely rare chance someone from the Percy Jackson crew is reading this please: let the kids play when they aren’t filming, don’t make them feel guilty for eating, shield them from the inevitable criticism that always comes with an adaption, take care of them, very few people do these things and kids get messed up from that
It’ll be easier to relate to the characters
Acting just doesn’t doesn’t have the same feel as animation, especially when the actors are new to acting
Acting is obvious, we ignore that it is because that’s how you watch live action, but rarely will it ever not feel like people repeating back lines they memorized, that the expressions are calculated and filmed 20 times over to get it right
Animation doesn’t have that, characters feel real, not like they’re acting because they aren’t, making it a lot easier to relate to them
None of the fight scenes will have to be cut
These are children playing these characters, obviously fights scenes are going to be cut and the ones kept are going to be simplified, these kids will probably have limited fighting experience and even if they don’t, they can’t hire children to play stunt doubles for safety reasons, so they won’t do anything too risky
Just imagine the fight scene between Ares and Percy in The Lightning Thief, they’ll probably hire a bigger guy to play Ares, comparing that to tiny Percy, the battle is probably going to look more like a dance number with every movement scripted as to keep Percy’s actor safe
It supports social distancing
Social distancing is still important and animation is easier to do social distanced
We could see every part of camp, not just the parts they built sets of
Camp is big and fantastical and probably will be barely shown, that’s a lot of set to build, so they probably won’t see it all
The big house, interior of the Poseidon, Athena, and Hermes cabins, and the mess hall will most likely be made, but the lava wall? the forge? doubtful
It’s easier to replace actors
Like I mentioned before, there are 18 books if they were willing to make them all, even if /magnus Chase and Kane Chronicles were made along side instead of in between, a lot of actors, especially child actors, don’t want to be stuck playing a character for that long
while no one shows up in ever book, some characters get dropped and brought back, which when being adapted causes actors to be replaced, the actor playing Will in The Last Olympian will probably not be the actor playing Will in Blood of Olympus (that is, if they even make Heroes of Olympus)
They won’t have to sacrifice the small details
Wouldn’t it be cool to have a Nico and Bianca cameo in the Lotus scene? won’t happen, what about characters slowly getting more scars after each battle to symbolize the trauma half-bloods carry with them? Luke will probably be the only character with a scar, see a background character that resembles minor characters like Drew or Kayla or Castor and Pollux? that’s not going to happen
Small details that make the story will be tossed to the side, mostly because it isn’t feasible in live action, I think the Lotus scene is the best example, seeing Nico and Bianca there in the background would be so cool, but they don’t age in the Lotus hotel, and it’ll take probably 14 to 18 months to make a season, let’s say 14 months for now, that’s over two years between their cameo and they’re actual appearance, a very obvious difference when discussing 10 and 12 year olds
All in all, this is just in my opinion and preference
Will I still watch if it’s live action, of course, it’s Percy Jackson
It won’t be as good as something animated and I’m sad I’ll never see some of my favorite characters on the big screen, but at least we’ll be getting a decent adaptation

Percy Jackson: The Titan's Curse first reading thoughts:
-I loved Thalia, she is fierce, I loved to see her relationship and conflic with Percy. I have the feeling we won't see her as much from now on and I'll miss her.
-Zoe was getting on my nerves at first, but I really liked her by the end. I saw it coming, but still her death was very sad, and Artemis making her a constelation had me at the verge of tears.
-Bianca too, I was really not expecting her to die so soon. I really indentified with her struggle and want for a life of her own outside of being her brother's caretaker.
-I really like Nico too, so nerdy and carefree, I felt so bad at the end, he is such a sweet kid.
-I loved to meet Artemis and Apollo. When he showed up in the car was such a fun scene, I loved every second. (When Apollo mentioned hating when girls turn into threes, peak comedy)
-I really liked to see Aphrodite as well, I liked how you couldn't describe her, how subjective her appearence was. (He thinks she looks a bit like Annabeth, ok Percy)
-Ohhh and to see Dyonisius's powers more was AMAZING. I agree with Nico, his powers are super cool.
-Grover feeling Pan has me very intriged, I'm very interested to see were that leads.
-What the fuck is going on with Luke. What is Kronos doing to him??
-Wait, Hephestus can make robots??
-Ok, ok. I'm not justifying, it was still a terrible thing to do, but I can see why Hercules didn't tell anyone that Zoe helped him. If I recal, he was suppose to do it alone and without help, that was the reason he had to do 12 and not 10 labors, two of them didn't counted for Eurystheus beacause Iolaus heped him. Still, it was interesting to see that story connect, and I'm glad Zoe found a place with Artemis.
-I like the consistent theme of the prophecies, just like in acient greek tales, destiny is unalterable.
-That little moment with the girl who could see Percy was interesting, I like bits of layers to the world like those
-Poor Percy, the fact that almost every time he falls sleep he has some terrible vision.
-I liked to meet Annabeth's dad, he reminds me of my own father a little.
-It was very cool to see all the gods reunited, I wonder if we'll see other gods outside of the olympians
-Idk, the ending of this one left me with a bitter taste, I'm at the edge of my seat, I need to sleep but I don't want to.
-Another great book, two more to go.

So I'm not going to start like an Anti-Chiron tag because I don't find that enjoyable personally, but every so often people ask why I dislike him so here's essentially a "masterpost" of my thoughts on that situation for when anyone asks, just so I have it to explain some...
This isn't nearly a full list, and there's many more "incidents" that make me less than fond of Chiron, I don't hate the old man but he leaves a bad taste in my mouth and I'm not a fan of that. He's a very twisted character.
- The Lightning Thief
This quote is literally just after Percy's mom "dies", they're all sitting on the porch of the Big House right after he's finally woken up after days of sleeping, and that's the line Chiron pulls out on him.
That's straight up emotional manipulation which was entirely unnecessary in the context of what Chiron was trying to explain. There wasn't a single reason for that, in the slightest.
Immediately following that, and Percy, who canonically has anger issues, does his best to remain calm, he is immediately threatened by Dionysus, and Chiron doesn't even tell Dionysus off for doing that; Chiron just let's it happen. It's Grover who has to speak up to tell Dionysus off...
The only reason Chiron comes out looking like a old guy in this scene is because Dionysus was so much worse in his behavior, at one point intimidating Percy with his power over madness.
- The Titan's Curse
This is the aftermath of when Nico ran away upon confirmation of Bianca's death. When Percy is telling Chiron about the situation, Chiron wishes Nico had been eaten alive rather than recruited into an army.
He'd rather a child be dead than fight against him, and he openly tells this to other children he's in charge of. If Percy went missing would he have said "I hope he was eaten <3" as well?
I don't blame Perry for not delivering the truth here, it was done in an effort to protect Nico; which wasn't something Annabeth had planned on doing... I don't blame Annabeth for that though either, she's been beneath Chiron so long that she probably doesn't realize the shady stuff he does, and to her "going to tell" probably was the "right" move because she was a child...
But the fact that Chiron believes Nico truly would be better off eaten than alive :/
- Tower of Nero
This quote from Tower of Nero shows that Chiron lied to a bunch of young children (most of them were young because the older campers are largely dead because of the war or too old for camp now). It wasn't just a little white lie that adults sometimes tell kids either; they were walking into battle and he told them it was a field trip.
Did he even begin to explain the danger he was putting these kids in? Did the children understand their situation? And how dangerous it was?
Kayla has been blindsided over the years into thinking that telling children they're going on a field trip instead of fighting a battle is something to make a joke of and not be questioned... (Again, I don't blame her she's only like 12 in the book, but still)
Apollo also agrees, which isn't on Chiron but it's a whole mother reason why I can't stand Rick's interpretation of Apollo...
<><><><><>
This isn't me being like "oh Chiron is the worst most evil character ever" I just think that he has numerous flaws which are largely ignored in favor of the "perfect wise teacher" narrative when in fact Chiron and Dumbledore share a lot of.. Offputting qualities.
I do think that some of the situation is simply a result of Chiron having his hands tied behind his back by the gods some. And he even goes so far as to confirm this in a scene of TLT
However many of the scenes in which he exhibits behaviors like that in my first three screenshots are not related to anything the gods require and are, in fact, of Chiron's own free will.
Some things I would blame Zeus and the council for, such as how he withholds information from Percy to an excessive amount for long periods of time even when Percy straight up asks about things. I could easily see that being Zeus trying to prevent Percy from claiming the prophecy as his own, and I could see reasoning that maybe Chiron had sworn over the River Styx or something similar.
But those things don't apply to Chiron making such an unnecessary comment about Percy's mother so close to her "death". It doesn't explain why he would say he hoped Nico had been eaten out loud, and it doesn't cover the fact that he led children into a battlefield without telling them that's what was happening.
I think the context of Chiron's choices and comments would be different if the campers were older. If they were in their late teens or early twenties for the most part, I wouldn't really have much to say about how Chiron handled the situation.
But this man is in charge of children and extremely young teenagers, Percy is only 12 in TLT, maybe if he would have been 16 or 17 then I could give Chiron a pass, but he wasn't. Within the context of the comment he made in the Titan's Curse, Percy is only 14 and Nico is 10 at the beginning of the book... You don't wish a 10 year old had been eaten alive by a monster no matter how bad you think the alternative is, and if you do wish that you don't say it out loud to a group of other children. In the battle from Tower of Nero we get a quick look at the battlefield, and although Ben's age, and the age of another girl fighting alongside him are never confirmed they are implied to be fairly young, and we know Kayla is only 12 at the time too; yet Chiron told them it was a field trip instead of a battle, limiting the time they would have to mentally prepare themselves for what was coming.
On top of that, the nods the reader gets to the fact that Chiron can't act out against the gods depletes over the course of the series. After TLT the amount of times the situation involves the gods interfering with what Chiron is allowed to say lessens, and by the time the Heroes of Olympus series comes around, these limitations on his speech is almost entirely gone. Yet as seen in Tower of Nero he still does morally questionable things in regards to how he treats the campers.
Like I said, I recognize that in many scenes Chiron's hands are tied behind his back because of the gods.. But there are undeniably things he does of his own free will that are, in the nicest manner, very :/
This also isn't a full list of comparisons just a few notable scenes. I don't think Chiron is equally as bad as Dumbledore, but I think it undeniable that Chiron has some significant flaws built into his character design.
A good character has flaws, and there's nothing wrong with having a character that doesn't always conduct themselves properly or have good intentions- it's actually good writing, and I can appreciate that, but for some reason I find myself personally rubbed the wrong way by Chiron. This doesn't make Chiron badly written, or poorly designed, in fact I would say Rick's Chiron is very well designed in lots of ways, but I just don't like how it's never acknowledged by anyone in the series.
Like I said, I'm not starting an anti-Chiron situation, I just think little events like those mentioned, the way he's built a child army, and how he doesn't even try to plead with the gods over raising the ages on campers being allowed to battle is a little sus. But it more so bothers me that there's no attention payed to this problem anywhere in the books, not even by a side character or Luke, nowhere.
I don't actually care that much and this isn't that important to me, but sometimes people ask why I don't like Chiron and this is basically just my explanation to hand off to them... It's not even so much that I dislike Chiron entirely, he's well written and has his "good" moments, I just don't like the way other characters interact with him and his actions.
It's more a personal beef with him rather than an aspect of poor writing or him "being bad"... PJO in general (and HoO/ToA to a much lesser extent) shows that there's not such an inherent good vs bad in the world, and that sometimes people are victims of circumstances in some situations, or they're horribly misguided in their actions, but the series does a good job of showing those people as human still, and I applaud that.
I don't really know how to tie this up in its entirety, but there's nothing wrong with having a morally grey character who does questionable things and in many aspects it is good writing. I think Chiron is a result of Rick not thinking through the implications what he's doing in lots of situations, and I can see a fairly consistent drop in Chiron's characterization from PJO-ToA which is consistent with most other aspects of Rick's work.
I also want to clarify that if you like Chiron and disagree with me, that's absolutely 110% okay, I just personally dislike Chiron and that's on me. Like my problem with many of Rick's other immortal characters, I think he missed important aspects of them in some manner and slightly (or entirely in some cases) mischaracterized them in comparison to their original myths.. Some of these characters he came around on and fixed their character in many aspects to their more "correct" characterization (like Hera), while others (like Chiron and Apollo) he never quite figured them out. Which is a running complaint I have with Rick so I'm just adding this to his tab.
But yeah, I don't hate Chiron I just dislike him and those are different things, and I don't think it's a bad thing to have a morally questionable character, Chiron just personally rubs me the wrong way and I just wanted to explain that more fully because I've been asked about it multiple times.
Also I apologize for not adding a [read more] to this, it's a complaint of mine often when scrolling through the tags but I'm on mobile currently and don't have immediate access to a computer so~
