Sonic Disability Headcanon #1 Migraines & Headaches 

Sonic has suffered from chronic migraines and headaches since he was a child. He always has Ibuprofen and Sumatriptan stored in his glove cuffs to manage the pain in case an attack happens whilst he’s out on his adventures. He’s always been embarrassed about it, as headaches and migraines are wider known as something females suffer from more than guys. Amy Rose suffers from migraines too, but Sonic’s NEVER told her about his migraines. He doesn’t want a fuss. 

Sonic’s migraine auras have been so bad over the years he’s ended up being hit by Eggman’s robots on numerous occasions, as he either loses his vision for some time, or it becomes severely distorted from a migraine aura and he doesn’t see an attack coming. 

Sometimes, Sonic’s migraines hinder him bedridden for a day or two, and he stays in his room, and lays in pitch black darkness. Or he’ll wear dark sunglasses until it passes over. 

Eating too much chocolate, not getting enough sleep, or being exposed to flashing lights trigger a bad headache or migraine, so he actively tries his best to moderate his chocolate intake, get plenty of sleep and closes his eyes when he sees flashing lights, or else he will be in trouble some hours later! 

The hedgehog should really see a specialist to find out exactly why he has such bad headaches and migraines at his age, but Sonic being Sonic likes to brush off his condition, he doesn’t want to burden the health service with something he feels they will see as a minor issue, even though to Sonic, it leaves a huge impact on his life due to their frequency, especially the older he gets.

btw i fucking LOVE that little part from gerald's journal where he says that some of the researchers dont think maria's even actually ill because she looks fine physically. them acknowledging the kind of ableism that comes with invisible disabilities really caught me by surprise and i love it

Art for my Starchild au, where after the events of SA2, Shadow has to go through physical recovery as well as his fur/quills has some of the light gold from being so close to dying while in the middle of being super. He also has to retrain himself to control his powers since a bit more of chaos energy was sealed in him at his fall while super. (Sonic made him put that picture there too lol)

In regards to my wheelchair user Fang, he doesn't appear in modern era because he decided it's not worth it as Eggman escalated, so basically he bowed out of anything that might get him tangled up in Eggman and Sonic's lives for the sake of his health, Superstars was it for him because he also realised his ego was getting himself hurt far too often.

In this AU Fang and Trip aren't enemies in fact she often carried him very carefully when the queen was out of commission from fights and his wheelchair couldn't cross jungle terrain etc, they're actually friends here, she'd make things that he'd wrap around his hips that'd give off heat and soothe the joint pain.

He probably still is getting into shenanigans with Bark and Bean just nowhere near where we the audience would see.

Also carrying a wheelchair user isn't something that you should just do, it is in this case a last resort, often doing so can hurt the person depending on why they need a wheelchair just an FYI, Fang is definitely one where it could hurt him but there was no other way to proceed so very careful carry it was, it was not the ideal situation at all but they landed away from the queen otherwise he'd have sat in it even if it wasn't running and had Trip push that instead.

Disabled Sonic

Disabled Sonic hc theory-

If Sonic were to get into a devastating life changing accident and suffered a significant injury, for example:

He suffers a serious head injury leaving him permanently brain damaged and needing around the clock care with eating, drinking, going to the toilet, getting out of bed, being taught to walk every day, etc.

He broke his neck and became a complete quadriplegic, unable to move and reliant on a breathing tube and confined to a wheelchair. Needs help with every day tasks such as bed transfers to and from wheelchair, changing breathing tube, eating, drinking, going to toilet, etc.

Or (not accident related but wanted to include it here) he suffers a massive stroke and becomes paralysed down one side, has to go to daily physiotherapy sessions and is left with significant disability.

Do you think Tails would become his full time carer, or do you think Sonic would end up being put into care?

I personally think Tails would absolutely be there for Sonic 24/7, even if it means his disability will be permanent with no cure. To Tails, he’s still Sonic, and I feel he would stop his whole life plans to become a full time carer to his brother 🥺
