We know World Habitat Day was two weeks ago but our 20th Anniversary event was such an amazing evening we just want to keep reliving it.

Happy World Hoop Day from me and my workshop students!!

Today I held two hour long workshops at BACA Fest in a loud HOT gym (It was 100 degrees today in Oakland!). Most of the hoopers who came as beginners stayed and had fun learning more in the advanced class, and by the end I had a pretty big group!

Before I left I had a nice lady walk over to me and tell me that she was watching all the classes around the gym, and something she noticed about my class was that everyone was smiling. No matter the level, everyone was doing their best and working together and it was really great to see. That made my week. :)

This year, we didn't have a big venue nor the biggest crowd. We didn't have a program, proper speakers, and a decent camera. The weather was against us and flooding was all around. A lot of us couldn't make it. But those that did, hooped. Hooped with what little light we had, wet grass and all. Shared our hoops with the few that inquired, happily answered the questions of passers-by. Hooped for us and for everyone. Much love to our little plastic circles and to all you #hoopers celebrating #WorldHoopDay. Hope you all have an awesome one, however you're celebrating. <3 #HoopnationPH #hooping #WHD #WHD2014

For World Humanitarian Day I and other interns and friends at eu-echo wrote messages of solidarity in our own native languages. 

I honour those who work to uphold human dignity in times of inhumanity.

#WHD_2014 Talal Hamzah lost his life in Douma in Rural #Damascus, the town he was born and raised in his whole life. Talal was born on March 21st, 1977, he started working for #UNHCR in mid-2008, and for those who knew Talal, it was as if he was born to do humanitarian work. His motivation, courage and generosity were the qualities that granted Talal the love and respect of his colleagues and supervisors. On April 26th, 2012, a bullet pierced through Talal's body taking away his life and his gentle smile that will forever remain in the hearts of everyone who knew him. #humanitarianHeros #Syria_Crisis
