Okay so I saw atsv recently and while I love reading everyone’s takes on the art styles, I have to bring up the music
I’m a pretty basic music nerd with minimal theory study, but I’ve taken to just playing the soundtrack. (I’m referencing specifically the Metro soundtrack, I prefer songs with lyrics, but I’m positive this will apply to the other soundtrack too, the crew of spider verse are that amazing) And in doing so, I just need to bring up how carefully these songs are constructed??
See, backing track songs need to be subtle. That’s what (in my experience) can make them boring or difficult to compose - how do you make something interesting but able to blend in? But these people, they’ve just - pulled back layers?? And spread them out???? Rarely is there more than about 3 things happening at any one point in the songs, and it means they can pack so much into them. And more than that, it gives them room to give every song a style, a reference and a character to link them to!
Take ‘Hummingbird’, for example: it’s the song that plays when Gwen opens the portal above Miles’ bed. Then compare it to ‘Sunflower’, from the original movie. The artists are completely different, the tone of the movie has changed entirely, but the songs mirror each other!! The way the vocals have a little flick (flick? Reach??) at the end, the bass and trap in the background, heck, even the emotions they convey! Miles, in each instance, is at a turning point, whether he is aware of it or not.
But the composers haven’t just decided to mimic Miles’ song from the original song - they’ve dampened it to fit the tone of the movie. The trap beat and pulses are muted, and the vocals are slightly subdued. And of course, the lyrics are very different. They are both about love, but one is optimistic, and one is resigned. GOD these people!!
And it’s like this with basically every song I’ve come across! While a lot of the characters have less (or nothing) to compare to, the composers have put bits and pieces in to make the characterisations and emotions peak through. Just look at the percussion in ‘Link Up’ (a mixture of the clicking from ‘Self-Love, which kinda was Gwen’s theme in the album, and the percussion from ‘Silk & Cologne’, which I think is supposed to be Miles’ family and their party (?)) which I took as showing Miles’ split between Gwen and the Spiders, and his family.
Just, this soundtrack has som much care and love stuffed into it. I don’t know how much this makes sense (It’s 3 AM), but I didn’t see anyone talking about it and that is a CRIME

I'm so mad that post was misinformation because there is actually an EXTREMELY important conversation to have about the production schedules artists are forced into. There's no need for exaggeration, the conditions are bad.
I work for webtoon. My publication schedule is weekly. While publishing I'm required 10-15 pages a week. Fully colored.
This means I'm finishing a 150 page fully colored graphic novel every 10-15 weeks.
When my comic is not updating, I am not getting paid. Any time writing, editing, or off is out of my own pocket. I don't get healthcare. They do not provide any assistants. They expect me to promote myself; they chose to deprioritize me before I even launched and gave me an end date half a year in. I never had a chance.
And this is the industry standard! Every company has artists forced into crunch hours, overtime, and burnout. Artists are literally dying early due to it. So many of my friends can't afford to go to the doctor.
It's unsustainable and untenable, and it's also the expectation our audiences have.
If we want to have this conversation, there's plenty of conversation to be had with the realities of the situation. It's bad as is.

I feel like we really lost something when we started looking at writing as a reader-centric product meant to appeal to the desires of a specific audience rather than a writer-centric approach of someone writes whatever particular thing particular compels them/whatever weird thing the demons in their head want to talk about, and people out there who are also compelled, and/or relate, find that writing. A lot of discussions of writing really center around what readers want rather than a writer's exploration. Sometimes as a reader I don't know what I want. I click on a fic or pick up a book I'm not sure about but that looks interesting, and I love it. Reading what I expect to get is it's own joy, but we always need to expand our horizons and not get mad at creators for not always writing what we want/expect.

Niran "Bua" Pruksamanee x Male reader Headcanons (18+, FtM Lifeweaver)
Art @ YShuaaaaaaa (twt.com)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Pussy life weaver let’s gooo!!! Niran is definitely a 10/10 when it comes to bed. He loves putting on a show for you, one of his favorite things is to fuck himself against a toy and complain about how empty he feels without you, a cute pout on his lips as he soaks the sheets even more.
He loves having his hands all over you during sex, cupping your face in his hands so that he can pepper kisses all over your face while he’s whining out for you to go easy on his swollen cunny. He’ll grope at your chest, leave scratch marks all over back, and hickies covering your body. If you stop holding his hand he’ll legitimately cry, he just wants you to hold him and stay near.
This mfs got the fattest breeding kink known to man!! If you haven’t stuffed his pussy then you’re not finished !! Niran loves babbling on about how full you make him feel and how all he wants for you to do is stuff him over and over again, he just can’t get enough of how you practically rearrange his guts every time.
He’s got really cute light hairs that lead down to his thighs, his most sensitive spots are his lower back and his inner thighs. He loves the feeling when you put your hands on his lower back to keep him from squirming, or when you hold onto his inner thighs to keep them separated while you eat him out.
He’s so vocal but honestly it’s godsend when his moans and cries are so beautiful. Globs of tears falling down his face as he’s squirming underneath you, whining about how it’s too much and yet still trying to push himself deeper against you. Bitting his lips as his chest heaves, trying to collect his breath as you fuck him harder from behind, his cum mixing with yours onto the bed.
In general he’s a whiny subby mess who loves to have you all to himself. He’s willing to put in some work during sex but he loves when you pamper him in bed!! Aftercare is super important to him too!! Doesn’t matter what you’re doing afterwards, he just wants to be in your arms, cuddled up against your chest.

POV: You’re the guard stationed outside of the former high mages prison who is responsible for the deaths of possibly thousands and he starts just absolutely wigging out screaming “You can’t use me anymore! I’m free of you! You won’t ever use me again!!!” And like… you’re not gonna tell the head crownguard who is…ya know…his son. And you’re probably not even gonna gossip about this later with the other guards, because, once again, Soren might end up hearing about it. So you just sit there. Terrified out of your mind..in the dark.

I was wondering about the cq guys, did they have jobs before the disaster??, Personally, I see Rachel working in a beauty salon or doing nails in a salon. And what if mimes could have professional careers?,Could REDE be a mathematics teacher who likes to torment his students? What do you think about that?
A good chunk of them did have jobs, yes! And I think there are definitely some jobs the mimes would love/excell at, too, were they ever to need to work.
I'll go into depth about some of these jobs :3...
Hannah had a lot of commissioners for her robotics expertise, would be funded by various organizations of the state to help develop robotic aids or other useful things of the sort-- she was a busy gal before the Fault!
Gary had a middle man, or a plug of sorts, through which he would occasionally offload personal art through to sell locally within a farmer's market. He did this less than occasionally because he preferred to maintain his solitude.
Lauren sells single-use spells and other magical tools and compounds (They had other people help distribute these goods). They also taught classes on historic magic, when they had the spare time.
Elliot worked as a bookstore clerk, organizing books and other goods. He additionally found work through Lauren to help manufacture her products alongside her, through which he eventually became her apprentice, and gained many more tasks as a result.
Tanner was a hunter, partially for town game and partially to defend against opportunistic predators. You'd find him stationed out around the outskirts of town often, chilling with a gun and a drink.
April would help with hunting occasionally, but primarily worked as a nurse for Lystrike's very small, very dinky hospital.
Leon was not working at the time, but he did occasionally play solo gigs for the bar and other venues in Lystrike.
Rachel was actually a royal medic at the time of the Fault. As in, technically within the Dominion's higher military, but not a fighter. She was not on duty when it hit, but immediately went into the front lines anyways to try and help people with her healing oriented magic.
Samantha was a tailor typically selling her custom clothes remotely, though she didn't have much success in pulling customers in. Debbie advocated vocally for her on several occasions though.
Michael was about to get his first job just before the Fault, working at a comic shop, a position he lucked into by being at the store at the right time. (Then got lucked out of, due to the world ending 💔 )
~☆~
As for the mimes...
TyV would be a journalist. Ching is already an actor. Foxglove would enjoy a bartender position, for the wrong reasons I think. El Ganso is technically a bounty hunter of sorts and takes pride in it. Rede probably wouldn't be the best teacher, he'd get too frustrated with people who don't understand right away, but he would be an excellent astrophysicist. Holly would thrive as a model, Twiddle would just want to be the boss of anybody, Chickenstab would be great in any field involving animals. Atrox would be most content as a quiet maid. Jarna would love to be in a band, and Uppsulka I think would be a great counselor. Calamea would be the town nuisance.
These are just what I think would work for them, not necessarily what they'd end up doing if they did have to get jobs. Like, Rede would be great in astrophysics but he'd get stuck as like. A clerk or something that'd drive him up the wall.

Okay, hear me out: Ruffnut and Tuffnut would be backpackers/super intense world travelers in a Modern AU. In the show, they show a passion for cuisine from other parts of the world that they can’t make on Berk (hyena gizzards from the Defenders of the Wing), they love to learn all about all sorts of random things from different cultures (explaining to Snotlout the roots of the deity Mother Nature in whichever episode it was, I don’t remember) they know more than one other language, and then there’s that whole travel/resort guide they wrote for Vanahheim (i do not believe I spelled that right, but we’re rolling with it before I go to bed).
Ruffnut and Tuffnut would be that Instagram and TikTok famous pair almost everyone somehow knows or has heard of that go on super extensive trips to various locations around the world, from super iconic locations to the smack-dab middle of butt-nowhere literally no-one has ever heard of. No one knows how they fund their trips, no one knows where they find the time to get to and from anywhere, and no one that doesn’t know them knows if they even have a permanent living residence. And everyone back at their home doesn’t know how they’re able to do all of that, and still spend an insane amount of time in their teeny-tiny smack-dab in the middle of where-are-we town that they come from in order to hang out with the rest of the gang and get arrested every once in a while for speeding, before skipping off to freaking who knows where until they post a reel of their latest exploration expedition.
I also believe they’d have a shared tumblr account that is also super popular as well, filled with a strange combination of memes and strangely philosophical quotes. Nobody knows that this account belongs to the backpacking idiots that everyone is at least mildly jealous of. There’s a betting ring amongst the gang on if or when someone connects the dots and blows up the internet trying to prove it to everyone else.

Not to be autistic in the room right now— and do not mistake this as me calling ANY driver ASD—
but it does actually piss me off a lot that you can both be criticised for being flat and too focused on your work, and then when you flip it on its head and try to play into the jokes, you are criticised for trying to make people like you.
I’ve experienced both and it drives me mad the way people try to pick apart someone’s personality and accuse them of lying for acceptance— so fucking what— should we not be considering the state of society that people feel like they’ll only get a break from criticism if they try to make everyone like them?
Also the guy who regularly has to go back on his word bc Twitter informs him what he’s said is fucked up is kinda full of it

do you write?
Mel semi-dared me to type: “No, leave me alone.” So I have to include it. But in all seriousness, I'll respond this once, because it does allow me to update people a little bit. Though please know that your notification did have me pause mid-writing. Now, I want to politely, and respectfully direct you to my description on both dash-only and on my blog's theme, I also want to point your attention to my pinned post, and I believe that it's even in my rules, but I could be wrong. Though let me repeat it here:
The depictions you'll find here are canon-strict, and so you can expect many analyses of all kinds here, as dissecting the characters that I write is what I'm passionate about, and what I'm here for (and to write, of course!)
I admit, usually I aim to write more threads/asks consistently even if I'm excessively slow, and though I haven't updated the dash about my circumstances for a while (as I'm decently private about my life), know that writing meta has simply come a lot easier lately when time has permitted me to be on Tumblr. Now, that doesn't mean I don't value people's interest in writing with me, and I will live up to the promises that I've made that I will get to that (as I have occasionally done lately, and was in process of doing again)— but when meta comes easier to me, then I prioritize that as of late, simply because stress' best counter is the distraction that comes the easiest. Now this isn't by any means a waste of time, as it plays into what I quoted above. Because ultimately, here's my thing: I make it exceptionally clear everywhere on my blog that I am canon-strict (or as Tumblr, sadly, disrespectfully seems to call it nowadays: a 'lore purist'), and that this leads me to write a lot of analyses left and right on the characters that I write, but these are fundamental to understanding my portrayals of them. If that isn't your cup of tea, sir, or ma'am, then maybe this isn't the blog for you, and I don't mean that with malice, or in disrespect, but simply as a simple rebuke. In that, I greatly appreciate you checking in on behalf of my writing partners, but I'm also quite certain that they have the capacity to approach me themselves if they have any concerns. Have a nice day or night, wherever you are!
#[ inquiries: out of character. ] they do not know what to make of me. i have kept to myself; for fear of giving them purchase to cling to.#[ i don't have qualms about the message-- though it is a bit of a thing of... if you're waiting to write with me-- ]#[ which bless you; i'm humbled-- but you're more than free to come to me and express this. my answer would've been a lot different. ]#[ instead of having to address it like this; which i'll always do with a bit of a firmer hand. ]#[ but also; i have apologized to people on numerous occasions. but i don't like to half-ass writing. i'm not here to write 50 words. ]#[ i don't do one-liners. i want to give the quality that i know i'm capable of even if i'm a bit rusty. ]#[ and that takes time for me. that isn't just a switch that i can flip and go 'ok! I'LL WRITE'. ]#[ if you've paid attention; you do see the thread or ask come out. amidst a /lot/ of meta. but the meta is important to my blog. ]#[ it has always been. it's always been part of the foundation of my blog(s) and if that isn't up your alley then i present you with... ]#[ many other writers who touch on the same muses as i do. ]#[ but my meta /is/ part of my writing. it /is/ part of my blog. of my portrayals. ]#[ and i know not everyone is game for that and that's okay. but then know it'll /always/ stay a fundamental part of my blog. ]#[ and while threads/asks will come more frequently; they are slower at present. that just is how it is in my current situation. ]#[ to sum up/remind: i'm in the midst of moving/apartment hunting and my roof over my head is an airbnb. so a certain stress hangs over... ]#[ my head. so whatever gives me most distraction; i will indulge in. i have numerous drafts in the works. they'll come out. ]#[ if you're patient-- i thank you immensely. my gratitude is endless. and if you're not; that's okay. but then kindly... ]#[ and respectfully seek the door and let yourself out. ]

No way, the "free money" extension that was shilled by every grifter there is turned out to be fraudulent? I'm shocked, shocked I tell you (not really)
Remember, if someone is paid to sell you something, that sponsor is looking to fuck you over, otherwise they wouldn't have to pay people to shill it, and whomever is doing the shilling accepted money to fuck you over

Whats the worst SV take youve seen?
this has turned into something entirely too long, and the subject kind of got away from me, so i’m adding a cut. yapping king of shizun city, you understand. anyway:
a rather demoralising and shocking opinion i saw, when i first got into the fandom (having just finished reading and letting the story stew in my brain for a while) was the “luo binghe is selfish and hysterical”. two other ones which kind of baffled me were, “shen qingqiu is clearly stupid and short-sighted” and “shen qingqiu isn’t attrated to binghe.” and there were some rather callous comments about shen yuan’s internalised homophobia that i like to think were just worded poorly and i was being overly-sensitive at the time.
i never got into discussions over fandom wank, cause it’s a waste of time and energy and a brand of silly i don’t enjoy, but it was kind of like getting cold ice thrown over my head for no reason.
why couldn’t they understand who these characters fundamentally are? why was it so hard to empathise with the choices these characters made?
i suppose the main things is, i don’t really understand why one wouldn’t even attempt to see things from the characters’ perspectives, mostly. that’s what i usually try to do, and it was a bit of a culture shock to see how some people online engage with media.
like, isn’t that the point? to see characters different from us try to navigate their version of the world? to empathise? why do we have to be so cruel even when engaging with fantasy? why fight tooth and nail to bend the characters this way and that, just so it’s more palatable, so it fits certain tropes, so it’s more relatable? do you have to see yourself in something to appreciate it? i mean, yeah, kind of, i guess. but. at times, it feels like people are trying to distance themselves from the art they’re enjoying because one thing didn’t cater to them. if that makes sense. i hope it does.
just. why comment, with your real fingers, and project onto my real screen, vitriol for a character who 1) is not real, 2) cannot hurt you and 3) you clearly don’t care to explore and understand in good faith? why are you here if it doesn’t serve you? isn’t that just sucking the joy out of everything? you can always let it go?
“internet etiquette” is a weird term to me because i’m weird, but it does make things easier when you’re polite and curious rather than. whatever some people are doing. et cetera.
admittedly, that’s more of a me probably not understanding something. that’s always a very real possibility, and i can be uncharitable at times, especially when i’m tired. alas, it’s my blog, i very rarely am not tired, and i’m too many words deep to stop at this point. i get to complain how i want.
back to the main point: both luo binghe and shen qingqiu are characters that were written very well, and clearly have a lot of soul and thought put into them. their motivations are not hard to figure out. (especially in binghe’s case, but shizun’s aren’t that difficult to parse if you think for a bit.)
the comments weren’t especially vicious, save for some outliers which i suspect had more of a personal bias, and i did manage to eventually find my way to a corner of fandom that can, in fact, read. but i do wonder, sometimes, how some of these people would react to the actually toxic, one-dimensional yaoi filth i read.
just. you are reading a master-disciple fantasy romance, in the end. being shocked and horrified when the master-disciple fantasy romance has master-disciple fantasy romance tropes in it is a bit silly.
anyway. i hope the first people i encountered in the svsss/danmei fandom are well, and that they’ve since started reading/watching works with characters they enjoy seeing, rather than powering through something they clearly don’t resonate with.
also, that they’ve learned to be nicer, maybe. that would be good. would help them, i’d like to think.
i’m sorry if this was not a good answer anon, but you understand, surely. i’m very small and very new to things. trying to figure them out. thank you for the vent material

Being in retail during December makes me question many things. Why do so many people who can't speak spanish and won't bother with pronunciation want to cover feliz navidad? Why does my work play four shitty white girl versions of feliz navidad but won't play the original? Why am I still here? When will Sia's horrible christmas covers be consigned to oblivion? Why am I still here?
