Consider:

Ghost who only takes naps on his stomach, a habit he somehow formed when he discovered it was easier to get up at any moment if he needed to. He's somehow always on guard.

Soap who notices this, and watches the habit persist even while on leaves. Soap who tries to ease Ghost's need to always be prepared by staying nearby when he does nap, hoping his presence will help him know that he won't ever be fighting alone.

Ghost eventually, for the first time in years, napping on his side or on his back after being invited into Soap's home and falling asleep to soap prattling on abt smth or other.
