yall i know we've talked about trevor and sypha watching over alucard in death and not leaving his side and im sure they do and i know richter himself as a character does not really give a shit about legacy he just wants to exist for the people he loves (and we WILL talk about that bc that kid needs some genuine self-esteem) but i just.

the only time in three hundred years that trevor and sypha leave alucard's side is when julia belmont dies.

because it's the first time in three hundred and fifty years, you know? it's the first time that there's another little boy with a dead family, all alone in the world with no one who fully understands what he is or what that name means. the ranks of their family have been thinned over the years but now it's down to just two and the older of the two does not know or want the boy in his life.

so trevor sees this. and he sees it happening again. he sees a little belmont, terrified and hunted, and he knows alucard would not begrudge them this. so he and sypha go. it doesnt matter to him that richter doesnt know theyre there. he needs to do something about this and watching him is all he can do. so he does it.
